Under fire from Republicans, President Obama clarified an earlier assessment of the health of the private sector, explaining that it's "absolutely clear" the economy is not doing "fine."
The president, in response to a question Friday afternoon in the Oval Office, backtracked somewhat on his comments his morning that "the private sector is doing fine."
"It is absolutely clear that the economy is not doing fine. That's why I had a press conference," Obama said.
Obama's original comment drew immediate scrutiny from Republicans; Romney, speaking in Iowa, said the comment showed that Obama was "out of touch."
The president's initial remarks were intended to portray the relative weakness in public sector hiring -- an outgrowth of spending cuts at the federal, state and local level -- versus the private sector. The drop off in public employment has been a drag on the overall employment picture; the economy added just 69,000 jobs last month, a number that was so low, in part, because of anemic public sector hiring.
A variety of Republicans pounced on the comments nonetheless, proclaiming Obama as disconnected from economy, the central issue in this fall's election.
The president used the opportunity to take a shot at Romney and those Republicans.
"You know, and what I'm interested in hearing from Congress and Mr. Romney is what steps are they willing to take right now that are going to make an actual difference?" Obama asked. "And so far, all we've heard are additional tax cuts to the folks who are doing fine, as opposed to taking steps that would actually help deal with the weaknesses in the economy and promote the kind of economic growth that we would all like to see."

OOPS. Now this guy is crawfishing his comments!! First Cory then Harold then Bill then Ed and now the Big O!!!
Democrats and backtracking - it's what's for dinner, eh gang?
Booker.
Clinton.
O
Perhaps they all ought to take some time off and actually think their crap through?
just a thought.
But man, it all sure does instill confidence, right?
None the less, you seem to have total confidence in Willard, who lies with ease, with no correction.
Guess it's Willards flip-flop/serial lies......and he's stickes to them!
Cause O has never, umm flip flopped, right?
Nope - evolved has he.
Golly I remember when big debt was 'unpatriotic.'
'member chilled?
Hey props for you for venturing in here. Another bad thread for O.
You're just as out of touch with reality as the president! All Obama wants to do is help his union buddies and out of work government workers. BTW, tell us about Romney's "serial lies". Nothing of substance to add so you just make a ridiculous statement. Perhaps we should talk about all Obama's lies!
Obama's original comment drew immediate scrutiny from Republicans; Romney, speaking in Iowa, said the comment showed that Obama was "out of touch."
Out of Touch? Mitten's is so out of touch with the middle class, he might as well be on the moon. Poor Mitt seems as desperate as a rat running around in a fire.... On the other hand, I guess all that "Sugar daddy" money he's getting, coats the bull@!$%# with a nice shine.....
Obama/Biden 2012
Hey libbies:
This here is MSNBC, and yet O is taking a beating.
See how this goes?
Bloom off the rose and all.
Remember: O failed. Now it can't be liberalism, so it has to be him.
And now all the libbies will turn and blame him.
Gonna be ugly.
But super fun. [just no one tell Amy - she's out back tending to the hot coals].
I'm confused - you'd rather that the President didn't want to help people who are out of work? Who's out of touch? Seriously, that comment makes you sound like a total douchebag. You don't like Obama's recommended requested course then criticize that, but you aren't helping your cause by pissing on the plight of others.
Republicans?!? More like Psychiatrists.
Obama said the economy sucks? It's about time, as they say, the truth will set you free. Now if he'd just admit to how woefully unqualified he is for the job, announce his intention to not seek a 2nd term, then as far as I'm concerned, he could finish out his last 6 months just playing golf and b-ball.
HIs gay marriage support comes too little too late after the vote in NC, just like his comments here come too little too late for the Public Sector Union supporters in WI. He is such a coward. He'd sell out his only loyal base support to save his own skin...and I still don't think these people realize it. Liberalism is such a sad disease.
No matter what is discussed every day, USA's biggest enemy is our debt. For $16T debt, even if interest rate is 1%, country is paying $500 million every day!!!!!!
If it is not fixed soon enough, country will be broke!!
Romney's lies are so numerous, I am surprised one server can hold them. Here is the list for those calling Romney lies 'nothing of substance'.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/04/12/1082975/-EVERY-Romney-Lie-In-One-Place-UPDATED
This here is MSNBC, and yet O is taking a beating.
Spanky-
If MSNBC only reports left leaning articles, all the righties will leave and go somewhere else, and the Dems won't have anyone to pick on. We'll get bored, and leave too!
It's called keeping the ratings up.....
However, throwing you guys a fish, doesn't seem to change the righties idiotic and compulsive spinning of the facts irregardless of what they're writing about......
Obama/Biden 2012 (That's a Fact)
McCain - "The fundamentals of the economy are strong!"
Obama - "The private sector is doing fine!"
Good gosh, Obama has turned into McCain.
That's as clear a lie as the campaign has told all year.
........check it out for yourselves..(google, bing, or whatever), and that's ony 1 (one) lie....if his mouth is moving, he's lying!
I thought his Campaign slogan was "Forward" not "Backpedal", "Backpedal", "Backpedal".
His original Comment was correct. He doesn't give a crap about the Private sector only growing the Government, Public Unions, Government Dependency, etc...
Good gosh, Obama has turned into McCain.
JAS -
Obviously you don't like Obama. But what do you have against McCain (Other than picking the "Wasilla Hillbilly" as his running mate in 2008)?
It is Prez O who has brought this upon himself. Fact: We KNOW the RepublicanCrimeCartel Controls the American economy. Stores, bosses, stock traders, All are republicanCrimeCartelSoldiers who are cooperating with the RepublicanCrimeCartel's SABOTAGING OF THE AMERICAN ECONOMY so that WE Very VERY Naive American People will be pissed at Prez O and vote for The Rommel. What has prez O done to alleviate America's Economic Hurting?? Nothing..NO DOJ complaints, No attempt at nationalizing the oil companies; NOTHING..... PREZ O! You have AGAIN Disappointed US!!! NOW AS FOR The Rommel and WHAT He's got in store for US!!! AND TO SHOW YOU the KIND of miscreant Rommel is:
Dear Sister and Brother American; Our Country is MISSING A LOT OF MONEY From OUR US Treasury and You KNOW who has it?? Right!!! the 1-8%ers aka Rommels pals and the Corporations who do not pay any decent taxes. Now about Try THIS ONE on for size!!!!!!!about the willard, like The Donald, Like The Gangrene: In 1966 during the Viet Nam war, Romney/aka Rommel, attended Stanford University in California and while hundreds-of-thousands of young Americans across the nation were protesting the war and the ever-expanding military draft, Willard was PARTICIPATING in A PRO DRAFT Demonstration to SUPPORT YOUNG AMERICANS TO FIGHT AND DIE in South East Asia. While Romney's classmates were protesting a test designed to help authorities decide who was eligible for the draft, he joined 150 other conservatives to show their support for expanding the draft. And Rommel HAS PLANS For THE INVASION OF IRAN!!!!!!! Anbody, ANYBODY, ANYBODY!!! Considering putting The Rommel in the Tank Commander's seat had better seek help with a Competent Psychiatrist.
Now PhantomBeast KNOWS There are many many Planted RepublicanCrimeCartelShills and Moles here so it will not surprise PB if one of these miscreants blasts away. BUT! The truth is the truth about your master Count Dracula and he is gonna' hook up with Christy!!!! EGADZ!!!!Straight Out Of a Hollywood Horror Movie!!!! Dracula and Goring controlling America!!!!
AND PB piles on from the other side of crazy town....
"Damage Control" which was mediocre.
Sounds a bit like covering for Mr. Biden's comments. Waiting for a response from the White House about the "Senior Spots" and "plants that grow with no water, no soil, or no sun".
Guess we heard enough this morning about the EuROPIIgs problems. Guess what Mrs. Merkel is planning......"political/fiscal EuROPIIgs Union":
Strange, Mr. Obama did not mention that this morning.
Recall 4 years back Obama was the "cool guy", the "smartest guy in the room". He had all the answers.
McCain was this old geezer, and just another "Bush II".
Turns out Obama is just like McCain. And Biden is 10x's as entertaining as Sarah would have been. That guy is like Clinton, you never know what he's going to say.
Obama/Biden 2012 - "Recovery Summer"
There is no clear choice for president, but I am still waiting to see a better choice than Obama....... Mittens doesn't even come close to bettering Obama.
MSNBC - rating up?
Oh, that's funny.
I'd rather have President Obama at the helm, as opposed to Mitt Romney. We lost 4 million jobs in Bush's last year alone, but in 2008, McCain was telling us the economy was solid. We've been adding jobs every month for the past two years, but Romney is crying over job creation. Republicans tell you one thing when it suits them, another when a Democrat is President
David Noah - 'His original Comment was correct. He doesn't give a crap about the Private sector only growing the Government, Public Unions, Government Dependency, etc...' - I'm confused...I thought all the righties WANTED big government out of the private sector...now your saying it's governments job to ensure that the private sector grows? Or is it back to the privatize the gains/socialize the losses mantra that Republicans blindly follow. If the government pays $100,000 to government workers to build a road, that is evil socialism, but if the government pays a private company $200,000 to build the same road...then that is ok because it is capitalism?
Under fire from Republicans, President Obama clarified an earlier assessment of the health of the private sector, explaining that it's "absolutely clear" the economy is not doing "fine."
The president, in response to a question Friday afternoon in the Oval Office, backtracked somewhat on his comments his morning that "the private sector is doing fine."
I guess David Plouffe told him at lunch the economy still sucked. Obumbler sure is a clown show. If you play back the last two weeks at 10x normal speed you see the Obama campaign coming apart at the seams.
Right. Changing your mind when the numbers change means you are wishy-washy. I guess that's why we liberals are called 'effete.' We pay attention to reality. A real tough guy wouldn't change his mind no matter what the facts were.
That was a pretty stupid thing for Obama to say - and it's even worse when you consider he called the press conference and used prepared comments. He may or may not be out of touch, but that comment was definitely out of touch.
"You know, and what I'm interested in hearing from Congress and Mr. Romney is what steps are they willing to take right now that are going to make an actual difference?" Obama asked.
Barry, this may be news to you. Romney is not holding national office right now.
McCain was this old geezer, and just another "Bush II".
Are you saying that O is an old geezer, and another Bush? That's bizarre....
As far as Biden being 10x's more entertaining than Palin, No way in hell. Just ask the comedians about that one, particularly Tina Fey.
JAS, Sorry dear, but you're definitely a little short in the "Above the neck" department...LOL
Obama/Biden 2012
He's sure acting like it. So what do you think GT, in the morning the private sector is just fine, in the afternoon, it isn't? Looks like Barry might be getting a little senile. Or maybe he's just tired from all that fun raising?
Ohhh, another one still bitter about Wisconsin. Tough breaks there GT. And unlike you, I have a neck.
PhantomBeast -
(Romney) / "Rommel?"
Among other things ... Rommel was brillant, was highly respected by the Allies, rejected Nazism, rejected orders as to treatment of prisoners / Jews etc ......
Rommel was linked to assassination attempts on Hitler and forced to commit suicide in order to save his family.
The lengths Libbies will go to marginalize their opposition is only surpassed by their bigotry, ignorance of history and stunning stupidity.
OMG !!!! As expected with ANY story about the President; today this vine is crawling with paid Carl Rove, right wing trolls. Their slime trails are just too thick to navagate around.
Obama/Biden 2012
Okay, now it's your turn Romney. Any corrections you would like to make, or are there too many you can't choose? Or perhaps you would resort to your usual "what's sauce for the gander" garbage, and don't forget to be gleeful about it too. Because apparently lying is not only second nature for you, it is so much fun too!
Ron-1861300, et al -- The president makes a correction to his choice words, almost immediately, and what is your response? Instead of noting how this indicates true leadership (the buck stops here), true courage, a sincere attempt to be honest with the American people, what you post is the same hypocritical vitriol the rightwing always posts.
Yep, cause Rove made O put his foot in his own mouth.
man you libbies are a fearful bunch.
Big old republican boogeyman, gonna get you.
No offense, but I hope voters remember Mr. Obama's own words that, if he couldn't fix the economy in 3 years, his would be a one-term presidency.
Let's hope the voters hold him up to his own standards. It's only politicians with lofty goals and no actual plans that dig their own political graves.
That's why the advice is to "surround yourself with the best and the brightest." The saying doesn't advise anyone to surround him/herself with echo chambers.
Democrats have inherited the support of organized labor. It's been years since any of our politicians have earned it :(
Too much republican-lite through the ranks.
Not enough honest blue-collar economics.
Time to return to the roots of the cause and quit playing with these guys. Go after them in sweeping ways.
Not free trade. Fair trade.
Not globalization. Protectionism.
Champion the initiatives that put jobs in our people's hands.
@True Patroit #1.34: Boehner and Cantor made Romney's case for him. NOOOoooo!!!
Hey Tek -
Like all the great work being done in South Carolina.
Hyundia just hired another shift for it's plant.
Note all - the auto industry is far bigger than GM.
SC sure is different than Cali, eh TEK?
Yea, I wish the Republicans were boogeymen but unfortunately they got a lot of money to fund their conspiracies. They should all be charged with sabotage and thrown in corporate owned jails, the firing squad is to good for them. If anyone is responsible for the sorry state of our economy look to the Republican side of the aisle.
Among other things ... Rommel was brillant,
You're absoutely right Bob - Romney is definitely no Rommel.....
Obama/Biden 2012
Republicans ARE stalling the economy. NYT had an editorial today that makes the point that it's the House Republicans that are out of touch.
Full article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/08/opinion/the-bills-to-nowhere.html?_r=1&hp=&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1339185635-hOOs1OV3CSBgjih1wh/P+Q
If he can't tell if the economy is "doing fine" or not, then he obviously in not qualified for the job. This is the day he lost the election. Alright. Let's get some Senate seats. The rest is just conversation until January.
chilled -- Agreed, that was only one lie of many.
The first really big one was Romney's ad in which he edited the president quoting John McCain, and then had the audacity to gleefully defend it as "what's sauce for the goose" BS. There isn't any greater deceit than purposefully editing the words of someone who is quoting someone else!
And as if that wasn't bad enough, Romney (along with other GOP dirt bags) claimed the stimulus didn't work, though the CBO and a majority of economists say it did. Then he lied about how jobs have been lost during the Obama administration, when in fact there has been 27 months straight of job growth in the private sector.
Then he told that lie about money for Solyndra being steered to friends and family, when in fact the investigator found no such thing happened. And then he claims the president has never offered any plan to create jobs. Where the heck was this loser when the Jobs Act was voted on multiple times in the month of October, with only the payroll tax cuts being passed after much pressure on the Do Nothing Teapublicans?
He just told another lie about health care reform being implemented though the president supposedly knew it would damage the economy. First of all, ACA has not damaged the economy, and in fact will create savings in the budget -- But the author of the book Romney quotes has been out in the media trying to correct Romney's lie, because that's NOT what the guy wrote.
I have never seen anything like this in my lifetime. A candidate being caught and corrected, yet continues to repeat the lie, and of all things seems to take pleasure in telling lies. Wow, just wow -- how can anyone accept this?
colleen-392992
Gay marriage will NOT be decided by the President or Congress. It's going to go the Supreme Court. At least Obama has the courage to stand up and say its "WRONG" to continue heterosexual rights to discriminate against gays/lesbians. As for North Carolina. Yep, a great example of where you can marry your first cousin, just not your GAY COUSIN.
You righties are the cowards. You whine/complain and enjoy pointing the finger of blame. However, where is the GOP right now on getting our economy back? All they have done is shout that lower corporate taxes will create jobs. Where are the jobs? Oh wait, that's right, they have moved to other countries based on a GOP tax credit for corporations that offshore their jobs. Yeah, that's really going to help improve our economy.
The GOP voted AGAINST a bill last week that would have supported EQUAL pay for women in this country. Yet, the GOP says they are the 'family values' party. You talk about disease, that's the real disease.
The GOP is the ones say that corporations are people and supported the 'right' to give as much money as they want in an election. You tell me which party is trying to "BUY" America.
Romney talks a big game, but what is HIS economic plan? Does he even have one? You know we can't run this country like a GIANT Corporation which is the only thing he knows how to do.
Obama/Biden 2012.
Its funny how when O makes a gaff, the righties are all over it.
Why? Because O makes very few. So when he does, the right has to jump at it like dogs fighting over a scrap. On the other hand, Mitten's makes so many gaffs that nobody pays any attention to them anymore. Until November, that is....
Obama/Biden 2012
Backtracks on his prepared remarks, again.....Media claiming he was blindsided by the "Michelle doesn't go all the way down" remark in his teleprompter ,to the GLBT Gathering....Has this guy had an Original Thought his entire life ???....
Three years ago, President Obama said he would be looking at a "one-term proposition" if the economy didn't turn around during his first term.
"If I don't have this done in three years, then there's going to be a one-term proposition," Obama said during a Today show interview broadcast Feb. 2, 2009.
Really?? How effing perceptive!
But O doesn't flip-flop, he evolves, wink-wink...
Dont_carry_it_all -- Agreed, Romney is NOT brilliant -- talk about the wrong choice of word.
People have known there's something weird about Romney, but the more I learn about him, there's something really wrong with him, as in mental. Look at the photo of Romney protesting in favor of the Vietnam war and draft (knowing fully well he would receive deferments) -- He has the biggest smile about sending others to their death in his place.
Forget about being a pathological liar. What about impersonating a police officer? The man is not well.
Seriously. There are books and movies questioning whether Sarah Palin is "unstable" and Romney's "story" should be next.
GT-2021701 -- Exactly. I can't read the rightwing drivel posted just above without falling asleep.
OMG you righties are SO predictable it's a hoot! As if Republican candidates, or presidents or senators, have never backtracked on their comments when they were called out, yeah right! Oh but, like everything else, if Republicans do it, it's right and proper! As soon as there is any article that says anything even remotely negative about President Obama, you call come out of the woodwork! Get a life.
Seems to me there's a sheriff in Arizona doing the same thing. He's not well, either.
But he will no doubt be re-elected.
Why is that so hard to believe? After all, Rove did it to George W. Bush any number of times.
The Stock Market responded very positively to the Gov.Walker re-win in Wisconsin ....It's up 417 points from the close June 5th. ...5 hours before the polls closed...Gained 270 points the very next day and still climbing....
Mike in Delray
I hate to burst your bubble.. but the STOCK market is rebounding based more on China's latest actions and the European Union. It has NOTHING to do with Walker.
Its all pure speculation anyway. My stocks have done 10x better with Obama in office than they ever did under Bush.
wastelandpast
http://mittromneyflipflops.com/ <--- Enjoy. I know I get a very good laugh at them
@ Mike in Delray --
No one must have told the stock market that Republicans lost control of the State Senate. At least for now, Walker is dead in the water. But if the market wants to rise on news that uninformed people voted for a governor who lies, cheats, and steals benefits from poor children to give to the Koch brothers, then the market is not my friend, or yours.
Spanky-
You nailed it.
South Carolina IS different from Cali :)
It's po-dunk compared to the 9th largest economy in the world.
It's a microcosm compared to a 2T GDP/annually, isn't it?
Yeah.
see, here's the thing. You've been mis-framing your argument all along.
California is trying to fit the mould of a state, while being in the top 10% of world economies. It's not working well. Our 'austerity' and balanced budget measures that all states have in their constitution, but states like Cali actually adhere to since we lose .27 cents on the dollar to the Fed...
Those don't work too well, now do they?
Heck, i'd go on a limb and say that we'd be quite prosperous if we cut the majority of those red welfare states loose...whattya think, buddy boy? Just cut the welfare queens lose, yeah? That's what the republican party keeps clamoring for, because they're usually too ignorant to realize that rural areas ARE the welfare areas.
That paving a street for 2 or 3 houses isn't very 'cost effective' and a waste of state money. Good thing those rural states get a nice, big pot of cash from old Uncle Sam.
Again I'll point out the concept of 'trade deficit', and how the single over-arching factor shown between a near recession-proof economy and a house of cards is their 'trade balance'. One of these days someone will get it...
...or maybe they'll just keep getting rich while failing to address the overall problem.
Either way, I intend on collecting my case of Nattie Ice from you in November.
@ Mike in Delray --
And of course, the market might also have reacted positively to the news that Johnson Controls, one of Wisconsin's largest employers, announced -- the "very next day" after the election -- the news that it is building a new plant --
.... in China.
http://www.businessweek.com/ap/2012-06/D9V7O13O1.htm
Yet another stunning success for Governor Walker.
How DOES he do it?
Well, really, under fire from EVERYONE!
What kind of stupid fool says the "private sector is doing just fine" that it's government workers who need help. It's interesting that MSNBC choose to not throw salt in the self inflicted wound by bothering to reprint Obama's quote in this article. I'll bet if this wasn't a televised press conference, the main stream media probably wouldn't have even bothered to report that quote. We saw how quickly they spiked the "blow job" joke Obama offered at the Hollywood fundraiser yesterday.
Slowly but surely, most Americans can see the "Emperor has no clothes" despite the best efforts of the Media Thankfully we only have 8 more months of this dope smoking, cocaine using, narcissist in the White House. Speaking of cocaine, I'm starting to wonder just what was causing that thrill to run up and down Chris Matthew's leg as the anchor of MSNBC's Hardball.
.
NOBAMA 2012!
.
Why is anyone even talking about McCain. It is irrelevant. The Republicans and some Democrats have come up with plans to increase job growth but Obama is only interested in one thing. Take money that we do not have or take it from those who he believes have too much and use it to create fake jobs. these jobs would be additional teachers which we do not need. we have made it through an entire school year and there are teachers in all the classrooms making an average of $75,000 a year for 9 months work where I live with very little if nothing paid as a share toward benefits. Or we will hire more police or fireman that we do not need. Or we will create projects that we do not need. The main street where I live has been redone twice in the last three years. But Obama is now doing it for the third time. Just wasting money to create jobs.
So how about trying the conservative solution. That is cut spending, cut taxes and leave it up to business to create jobs. Since all Obama has done with the billions wasted has not worked why does he think it can work at all? The man lives in an ideological bubble.
ANNA MOLLY!!!
How are you?
Where you been?
I missed you. Especially Tuesday and Wed.
So.....how are things?
Tek - I know you appreciate summer blend gas. How come I can get gas for $.50 less in Arizona? How come my electricity. bills are so much more in Cali than in Az.?
And speaking of Welfare queens - we sure do have a lot of them here, right?
Case of Natty? Let's see, when we made the bet O was over 50%. Michigan and Wisc were solid blue.
Easy money, umm I mean beer.
Sure is pretty in Monterey Bay right now though. Surf is jacked, but lovely to look at.
The best way to stimulate the economy is an Republican idea, more specifically, to start a lunar colony - an idea from Newtered Grinch, the Lunatic
The kind that understands the facts.
What kind of stupid fool are you?
Or don't you believe that public sector employees also need jobs?
No, of course, you don't. And cut off their unemployment insurance, too, while you're at it.
Gotcha.
@ Spanky --
Hiya Spanks. Sorry about Wednesday and Thursday. But I had work to do, unlike you, from what I heard.
Things are fine here, given that the State Senate flipped, essentially neutering the little Napoleon.
But all that I have to say about this is summed up pretty much in one sentence --
I never want to hear conservatives say anything EVER again about union bosses and out-of-state union money or about George Soros.
You own it now, Spanky. Embrace it.
And maybe you could volunteer some time for Walker's legal defense, while you're at it.
I'm sure that's the exact kind of pro bono work you prefer.
Have a great weekend, buddy.
ItsAboutTime-3704531...(#1.45).."The GOP voted AGAINST a bill last week that would have supported EQUAL pay for women in this country. Yet, the GOP says they are the 'family values' party. You talk about disease, that's the real disease."
Wait a minute.....I thought we already got the Lily Bedwetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, Obama's first signature on a piece of legislation signing it into law....Prohibiting wage discrimination for women.....When he had a 248% Approval Rating and complete Majorities in Both Houses of Congress...They didn't get the first one right, they had to do a new one ???
Lookin' like this new bill just wanted to place more onerous paperwork on
employers and make more work for the Lawyers...........Obama's biggest Campaign
Contributors.....
And of course provide material for Campaign Commercials.
Summer Blend Gas doesn't bother me. I pay a premium to live in the most beautiful place in the world. And I've seen a lot of places.
If it bothers people too much, if they're unwilling to fork up the cash to live in SoCal and enjoy the most beautiful beaches in the world every day...they're free to move to an economy friendlier to their pursuits. I won't hold it against them.
And if people quit outsourcing 2million california jobs a YEAR...then I think we'd have a whole lot less on the dole. Whatcha think? If we hadn't flat-out exported 334Billion (as a state, mind you) in the last 4 years...to China alone (not including canada, mexico, etc. Just china.)
well gee, that's 2 million jobs @ 40,000/year.
That's 2/3 of our unemployed.
That's...ohmygosh...that's bringing us from 10% to 3.3% or so.
I love Monterey. Visit the aquarium? Cloudless down here in Carlsbad right now. I love it.
People really need to learn the difference between "backtracking" and "clarifying". This is just pathetic.
If you actually read the article, he was saying "the private sector is fine" AS COMPARED TO THE PUBLIC SECTOR. His later comment did not contradict that.
What another POS softball article by the Administration's main media arm, MSNBC... And they don't even mention the main point of the article in the F'N HEADLINE which is that he had to backtrack on earlier statements. So the regular Joe Schmoe that sees this headline on the homepage isn't going to give this article the time of day because, DUH, everyone knows the economy isn't doing fine. However, your friends at FAUX NEWS (as you obama drone whores like to call it) spells it out right - FAIR N BALANCED:
"Hours after President Obama declared the private sector was "doing fine" which he later backed away from after receiving criticism — one of the nation's major credit rating agencies affirmed it was not."
Hmmm, we're still waiting on MSNBC to update their front page w/ the good news from the credit agency...
Lynda...Get a candidate.
Tek - we lose 3-4 business a day. Taxes regulations and the like. And that not to countries but to states.
It is clear, but storm surf here.
And by here I mean a lovely conference room, that literally is feet from the beach.
Torture.
But at least I got you all to bid the time.
Spanks -- Riddle me this --
Wouldn't losing businesses to other states merely be sum zero to the economy as a whole?
So, if that's true, is President Obama really wrong when he says the private sector is doing just fine?
Hey congrats Anna M on the whole flip thing.
So tell me, when does the legislature meet again?
What pray tell is on the agenda for that session?
Oh and AM - you libbies keep talking about these allegations. Got anything, um, more concrete? Charges, or maybe a public official willing to come out into the public with the accusations?
Hey, maybe it'll be talked about at that next legislative session?
Gee, its really hard to know what side to come in on when the attacks from both sides are so obviously correct. Absolutely brilliant analysis of the "flip-flopper" and the "evolver".
Sure AM, but how's that help Brown's little problem?
See, unlike the One, Brown can't print up money. And no way anyone gonna lend him any.
Oh and No Obama was spot on, the private sector is gangbusters. :)
Tell me something I don't know, Spanky. But remember that what we won't have -- before January of next year, anyway -- are any more "special sessions" like Walker called in 2011 to fix the hole he created in the budget by destroying collective bargaining and decimating public employee salaries and benefits.
For now, I'd say that's plenty.
FYI -- The silence may relate to the fact that there are currently 2 investigations pending -- both state and federal. Several -- I believe the current number is 6 -- former employees have been charged, and at least 2 have already pleaded out their charges.
One of Walker's cronies was convicted of campaign finance fraud relating to contributions to Walker.
Two of his former aides are charged with stealing from a fund earmarked for veterans -- I presume you don't approve of that, do you big man?
The investigations are now moving beyond Walker's term as county executive and into his current administration -- specifically involving the Department of Administration and the possibility that it was running a scheme similar to what Walker was doing in Milwaukee.
And no, I can't produce anyone who is singing out loud right now, but that's probably because something like 14 of Walker's current and former staff members have been granted immunity.
I wonder why. What bigger fish could they be looking for.
We think, at least, that it's not Richard Nixon.
So, who?
TP
Would that be the same CBO that stated it cost $4.1 million for each job created. Wow ... that's success everyone can afford, huh?
Yea ... really great performance when you consider that he can't even keep up with work force growth without screwing with the numbers.
Bottom line - the CBO you tout even says real unemployment is above 10%.
Romney is right.
Technically, this one might be dicey ... I don't think Obama has friends ..... he has money bundlers. Kaiser and crew certainly qualify - fact.
Obama has never offered anything that supports sustainable, private sector jobs. Union jobs / government jobs / etc. are not self sustainable and create no real job growth.
Romney's opinion is right.
If Romney said that, he assumes Obama is not too ignorant of economics to not know better.
Reality is that Obamacare is a disaster for the economy - 21 new taxes, boo-coos of cost uncertainity. Simple the last thing you do in a recession.
Romney lies?
Hardly, nice job of lying about the facts though.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/05/paycheck-fairness-act-senate-vote_n_1571413.html
Enjoy :)
The Senate failed to secure the 60 votes needed to advance the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would have required employers to demonstrate that any salary differences between men and women doing the same work are not gender-related. The bill also would have prohibited employers from retaliating against employees who share salary information with their co-workers, and would have required the Labor Department to increase its outreach to employers to help eliminate pay disparities.
The final vote was 52-47, with all Republicans opposing the bill. That included female Sens. Kelly Ayotte (N.H.), Susan Collins (Maine), Kay Bailey Hutchison (Texas), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Olympia Snowe (Maine).
If employers were 'actually' doing this on their own, we wouldn't need the government to act would we.... But According to the GOP, We can trust corporations...
ANNA MOLLY?
If you know that then 'splain this comment:
Things are fine here, given that the State Senate flipped, essentially neutering the little Napoleon.
Go ahead, take you time, I'll wait.
Damn, I've missed you AM
Hate to break it to ya'll but the private sector is doing great. Bosses, CEO's, CFO's, boardmembers, they are rolling in dough, the problem here is greed. Back in the day those at the top used to care about those underneath them, Not anymore. There is a reason we have the greatest income inequality of any nation in the world.
And its definitly not Obamas fault, big business has been hording all the jobs and money just like the republicans intended. Remember the republican agreement from 2008 after Obama was elected. I believe it was "Defeat Obama at all costs even if it means hurting America"
Like Mel Gibson they are saying what they feel and he had a press conference because he is a cheerleader so give the man dress and have him cart wheel out of our lives.
No time required, Spanks. But I do appreciate the offer.
Simply put, Walker's neutered for at least 6 months for two reasons. Although the legislature won't be in regular session again until the fall, Walker won't call a special session where he can't pass anything, and even after the election, he won't pass anything in regular session, either -- at least not until January of 2013.
That's good because now he'll have some time to concentrate on something other than fundraising.
I mean, 23,000 jobs in a year and a half is pretty doggone anemic for a guy who pledged 250,000 in his first term - you know what I mean?
In the meantime, there's a lot of water still waiting to flow under the bridge. And for the November election, Karl Rove and the Koch boys will have other things to worry about that an obsequious little pissant like Scott Walker.
So, unless Romney is crazy enough to take him as VP -- please, please, please, Mitt -- Walker is on his own now.
Heck, he's even invited everyone to a bi-partisan "brat summit" for next week.
http://m.jsonline.com/158139655.htm
What's that all about, Spanks? Go ahead, take your time. I'll wait.
Missed you, too. ;-)
Obama has finally given us irrefutable proof that he is an empty suit. Doesn't he read this stuff that somebody else writes for him before he just starts spouting off? Oh, wait! he IS an empty suit. Whatever influenced me to write that?
If the private sector is doing great, why are so many of my friends still out of work? And these are educated people that were laid off during the decline that have not been able to find work for 2+ years now. But that's okay: POTUS has assured us that the private sector is doing great!?!?
HE was the one that guaranteed us that if he couldn't turn it around in 3 years, he should not be POTUS. Will he keep this campaign promise or are we only kidding ourselves? At the rate he is going, his wife may wind up doing the job for us, especially if he repeats that line about her not going down far enough. Is he the reincarnation of Slick Willy? Who, by the way, agrees with Republicans that things are NOT going well and that we need a strong leader to get us out of the wilderness. (Too bad he got hammered by the White House and DNC to help BHO out instead of telling we the people how great Mitt Romney is.)
Maybe I should try for a job as BHOs speechwriter. I think I could do a better job of getting his foot in his mouth than his current speechwriter is doing. Or maybe not. I don't know. But then again...
To recap the great state of WISC:
No legislative session and no charges.
Well alrighty then.
Wisc - here to you. And thank you for not just a year of high entertainment, but for the total beat down of team blue.
Oh and sleep on o' union giant that was to rise up and crush Walker. Guess sleeping was the better option. Well played Sleeping Giant, well played.
Say, what's Trumpka up to these days? A big pay cut coming? I mean, down with another 1%-er, or something.
Look the President has just returned from a fund raising event in Beverly Hills California, so when he was asked about the private sector he obviously responded with what he had been hearing....the Democratic 1% are doing just fine (and in fact they are).
On this fund raising point though, it would have been better not to tie up traffic on the day and hour that the King's were trying to win their first Stanley Cup...on the other hand an appearance at their victory party (sadly they did not win) would have been great free media exposure.
The President is a Harvard trained attorney...these people are schooled in articulating exactly what they think...clearly...concisely...we didn't elect him for his business experience!
Well he's not exactly wrong. Alot of the corporations are kicking b_utt with billions in profits. I work for one of them, V_erizon. The CEO's are certainly doing OK raking in 49 million last year between 2 people. Of course this doesn't stop them from outsourcing American jobs and trying to take away the pensions and healthcare of the workers. Seems to me the "trickle down" part is what's broken.
bob-1805084 -- Once again, opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one. The rightwing loves poll results or the CBO or the constitution when and how it suites their world view. It's funny how rightwing trolls think they know more than experts who devote their entire lives to their areas of specialty. Facts good, fire good.
ItsAboutTime-3704531 -- Agreed. It's even funnier when rightwingers think some little twit in Wisconsin has an affect on the stock market, hahaha. Nah, it couldn't be about Europe, or China, or at least a nationwide report on jobs, or the tech or housing industry or what have you. One election in one state of one country drives the global economy -- riiiight!
Well, we are talking about the Republican Party, and Orly Tatz in the top five, and Kreep (the dude who sells Birther paraphernalia) -- Hurry rightwingers, save your Party. It's going down the toilet!
Kenn the Dem -- The president was using a helicopter so as not to tie up traffic in California, and I'm sure no matter what he does someone will b!tch. And yes, the 1% are doing more than fine. At least Hollywood donors aren't expecting ROI, like toxic waste dumps, or government subsidies to drill on government land, or regulating Wall Street that would prevent them from risking FDIC-insured tax dollars. And those unions, where do they get off trying to protect good paying jobs here in the US?
We need to privatize everything--heck even the military should be run by Haliburton. And once we are all wage slaves for a monopoly, then finally the free market can work like it should! (Not.)
Well, Spanky -- I guess you're right. There are no charges ... YET. Just Walker's current balance of $160,000 in his legal defense fund and a whole lot of quiet out of our usually confident governor. If he's innocent, why doesn't the little weasel just say so?
But he hasn't ... yet.
Laugh if you want to, but speaking of the "beat down" of Team Blue, you might appreciate the complete full-circle irony of this, at least --
That Democrat criminal mastermind, Mark Miller, who led those cowardly 13 State Senators to Illinois last year, is now the President of the State Senate.
What goes around, comes around. And Walker's day will come around.
$16 Trillion in debt isn't broke already? Who is your financial adviser?
Flip-flop,flip-flop....nose to the wind,.. what do the voters want to hear?????..aaahhh,.they'll believe anything I say....now where did I leave off with my pandering?????....flip-flop.....maybe I should get an etch-a-sketch too???????.........U.S.Army Disabled Veteran..........
TrueDat,
You sure got that right! Here's a comment I posted yesterday which the RWNJ's felt compelled to collapse not once but twice... lol
I have asked repeatedly why corporate profits and CEO compensation have been
through the roof while we still have an unemployment rate of over 8%.
So far, no one has been willing to even attempt to answer the question.
With news like this, it's easy to understand why;
Uncertainty my a$$ - nothing but GREED... pure & simple!
Just how much do these greedy bastards need to make them happy?
TLC could do a new show called the "Hoarders of Wall Street"...
*waves to Anna Molly*
Good to see you GF - thought you should know the nut job from NJ has been spreading some of her usual BS, in claiming you ran & hid after the recall results...
Not to worry my dear friend, I set her & conspiracy crap straight!
Is there any level to which they will not stoop?
@TruePatriot: "The president was using a helicopter so as not to tie up traffic in California"....TP I am looking at a photo in the LAEXTRA section of the LA Times partial caption "...President Obama's vehicle in the viewpark neighborhood of Los Angeles..." the King's play at Staples Center in Los Angeles...and on LA station 710 KSPN Mason and Ireland were advising everyone coming to the game to "leave early" because of the President's impending arrival!
Because of the protection needed (potential terrorists in cars or on motorcycles) it is not just the streets he travels on, but adjacent ones as well that are shut down...we all understand that...except for the die hard hockey fans who got to the game late...but hey...had they been listening to Mason and Ireland they would have had a heads up...and if you can't leave work early...take the day off!
So what if they paid $1000 to some scalper for a ticket...it's only the Stanley Cup...and does hockey really matter anyway...it's not like it's our national game!
Seriously, it was insensitive for President Obama to time his fund raising event on the day and hour of a hockey game that was one of the most meaningful to Kings fans in decades...after all...it was only a fund raising event!
Oh well, Bill Clinton (Hillary was my choice) did tie up LA for an hour or so while he had his haircut on Airforce One whie he was President...maybe this mindset just comes with the job!
ItsAboutTime-3704531...(#1.75)..."required employers to demonstrate that any salary differences between men and women doing the same work are not gender-related"
So, what you are saying is....That if any woman even just thinks a little
that a man in the next cubicle is getting paid more than she is, she can force the company to
provide confidential company information on all their other employees ......just
on her hunch....or the wisperings at the watercooler...
Do employers get to factor in that on average it takes a woman longer than her male counterpart to use the restroom....I mean after all, over the course of a year, all that extra time adds up...now who gets paid more....see how rediculous this can get...
We got enough lawsuits already....But the law schools keep
cranking out lawyers and jobs must be created or saved for them....
You think Government should be in every aspect of private enterprise...I don't
I believe that if anyone, male or female agrees to take a position for "X" amount of money....shut up, honor your agreement and go do your job.....
I remember reading not that long ago where women that didn't have any children were upset that women that did have children were allowed to take time off to care for them.....The end result was that the women that didn't have children were given that same time off for tending to their pets, gardens or houseplants....
@feisty redhead,
Thank you so much for helping get the word out about Ver_izon greed, it is appreciated! I really don't know how a CEO can look himself in the mirror in the morning when he makes 23 million dollars a year and sends American jobs overseas and tries to steal the employees pension fund and take away their healthcare. Money kills off all morality , I guess.
truedat-3874449
@feisty redhead,
I hope neither of you use APPLE products ...That Steve Jobs guy had all his stuff made in China....Otherwise that $650.00 I-Pad would cost $1,800.00 with Union Labor....
*Waves* at Feisty -- Missed you, my friend.
Thank you for getting my back. It figures it would be no joe.
What she doesn't know about me is pretty much emblematic of what she doesn't know in general.
For anyone else who cares, I was out of town on business Wednesday, and very busy yesterday and today.
Conservatives should understand that "free enterprise" thing.
As for levels, I believe their limit is the Ninth.
I'm sure you've been coping quite well without me, Feisty. Carry on the good fight.
I'll be around to help whenever I can.
Well, no. I don't think that's exactly how it works.
But she's probably right.
By the way, that information is not exactly "confidential." Under Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act, employers cannot stop employees from discussion wages, hours, and conditions of employment or from engaging in concerted activities for mutual aid and benefit. So those "whisperings" around the water cooler are perfectly legitimate conversations.
Don't believe me? Look it up.
Well, maybe. But then, at least, those union workers would have jobs and some money with which to buy those iPads. And they would buy at your car dealership, too, and your grocery store, or your flower shop.
And you, in turn, would also be richer. Get it?
No, you don't, do you?
I wouldn't think of purchasing anything from APPLE... so what is your point again?
TrueDat,
Too many Gordon Gecko's running around and not enough worker bee's...
It's despicable...
Yep, that will fix it. Have a press conference and everything is fine. Whoop-de-do.
Kenn the Dem -- Gotcha.
Mike in Delray -- Come on. The Fairness in Pay Act still would not remove a lot of discrimination, most notably the glass ceiling and men being promoted more than women, or even the DOE (depending on experience) in which titles and job descriptions have a posted pay range. Also there is no stopping the good old boy favoritism of better accounts in sales, or bonuses, etc.
But it would at least make companies a little more cautious. The most disturbing trend is more and more men going into "pink collar" fields like grade school teaching, nursing, etc. and even in those fields they are paid more. Now a lot of women are bread winners, and this crap affects qualification to buy a home, Social Security contribution/pay out, and standard of living their entire life.
What American believes gender discrimination is what our country is about?
I don't get why rightwingers are waging a War on Women. GOP/TP women in particular. Obviously they have been socialized from birth by religion, the men in their lives, and red state community "group think." It's the Stockholm Syndrome of identifying with your captors (i.e., Patty Hearst). We need to start a deprogramming facility for these rightwing women. We must save them!
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL..."I wouldn't think of purchasing anything from APPLE... so what is your point again?""
Cell phone made in the USA ??...The Computer your using ??.....The CFL bulbs I'm certain you have being all environmental and all were either made in China or Mexico....GE's Jeff Immelt made sure of that when he got the incandescent light bulb ban through Congress, closed all the US plants and makes them elsewhere....And all these CEO guys seem to link back to Obama
The President's comments are disturbing for a number of reasons. The only possible explanations are either alarming for their naivete, or downright sinister. Let's look at them:
I do not like this man, Sam I am. I am truly hoping he is the one unemployed in November. I can't stand Romney, but as a business owner (in the evil private sector) I'd be slitting my own throat to vote for this charlatan again. Yep, I got suckered in '08, just like a lot of other folks. Fool me once...
Anna Molly....If everyone got a raise, the price of everything would go up and you'de be right back where you started.....Were you around for the Wage and Price Controls in the 1970's ???....it solved nothing.
On Dear Mikey - please don't slip disc or anything with your twisting.. lol
I could of sworn you asked me about Apple originally!
We don't want you to hurt yourself in the process!
Oh yess... my... oh ... my!
God forbid our corporate masters pay us drones a living wage!
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL.....You moan and groan, and bitch and kavetch about the evil corporations and CEO's and the Imaginary 1%-ers....but I'll bet you live quite comfortably with all the creature comforts and maybe then some....but you do skip around most questions posed to you, come back with a little cute quip, like don't slip a disc,....toss a little barb and move on......
Mr. Tom-2709947 -- OMG, thank you for enlightening us. Holy cow, the president is a "sinister" Sneetch without a star on his belly, and must be shunned! If supposed ignorance, contempt, or putting Party before country, or just misspeaking is sinister, then I can't imagine how you would describe the Teapublicans.
Mike in Delray -- If everything was privatized so we no longer had evil government, what would you do if you don't like what an Enron, or Worldcom, or Bain Capital does? Boycott, that's about it? You can't vote them out--we don't elect them. In fact, in Romney's world corporations are people too, and your one vote means sh!t. Do you white middle aged Teabaggers really think things would be better with Big Business running things? Seriously?!
News for you -- Our government is the best there is until someone can come up with something better. So how about you learn civic duty, support democracy, pay your taxes, volunteer and help the needy, and stop with the hatred toward our government?
The GOP/TP, their gain is your pain. Don't reward betrayal. Throw the Teapublicans out.
Mike, don't even bother wasting your time on her. All she knows how to do is fling dung and run. Never heard her make any sort of cogent argument, or post something of intellectual merit. It's just lots of smart-ass drivel and name-calling. Frankly, I don't think she's wired quite right.
See, here is the problem for YOU Mikey... instead of believing you can have a battle of the wits with someone who obviously is more armed then your impotent little world.
You would be much better served, marching you happy, ignorant ass down to your local community college and learn the art of "blogging"...
In the meantime, you prove yourself to be a rookie & unqualified to run with the "big dogs".
I have NO patience for rookie's...
Until we meet again & I spank the @!$%# out of you..have a nice weekend!
True, you're quite welcome.
I describe the Teapublicans as something you've made up in your head. To my knowledge, there isn't any party called that.
But assuming you just "misspoke" and meant Republicans, I describe them as the party that is only slightly less objectionable than the Democrats. Both have failed us miserably. But I would rather take a chance on someone with at least some understanding of economics and an affinity for capitalism than a person who somehow believes that a bloated public sector is somehow healthy.
guess he won't need Bills help any more.
All of you brainwashed partisan Brahmin are endlessly amusing. You really can't see the forest fro the trees, can you? What part of ALL dirty, ALL the time, don't you people get? Party is just a means to keep the masses distracted, so they ALL can line their pockets with our money. If you want to see where their loyalties truly lie, check their portfolios. There you will find all the sorted details of their treason. Remember the bonus checks everyone was up in arms about after the bail out? Why don't you check to see who many familiar names are on those boards of directors, and major share holders. You'll be amazed at the even distribution of left and right names. So who was it really collecting those checks?
Perhaps, if you'd been paying attention to "O"'s last state of the union address, you might have caught his call on all members of both houses to end their practice of insider trading. The silence from the left and the main stream media on the subject was deafening. Even the right was mute on the subject.
Did it never occur to any of you political science guru's that all the division and polarization is by design? No? The indoctrination is that complete is it? You can't think independently anymore without party line non sense? That is sad.
I've been watching the political crime drama sense JFK and his illegitimate replacement LBJ and as the procession of El Presidenta's has continued the corruption and lying has escalated 100 fold. The current one is either quite skillful in the art of disinformation and misdirection or he is completely overwhelmed by the job. He has done nothing he promised, (what a surprise), and everything he said would not happen or continue, has. Point fingers all you like the fact remains, He has been a lame duck nearly from the moment he took the oath of office.
\
Mike, Mr. Tom, et al --
Take the US Postal Service, which is non-profit and completely funded by the sale of postage. This in turn creates competition for UPS, FedEx, etc. Imagine if we could do this with health care and having Medicare for all, getting rid of insurance middle men, driving down the cost of pharmaceutics, etc. Definitely health care provision should be non-profit (meaning no profit beyond overhead), because profiting from the sick is immoral.
If people are paid more, they can spend more, which means companies can hire more, etc. This is why things were so much better during Clinton than in the Lost Decade (2001-2011), or more to the point why everyone did better when unions were prevalent. If the minimum wage was increased to a living wage (within reason--not summer jobs for kids, or seasonal agriculture, etc.), then one ruthless company could not undercut their competition, and everyone would do better including business and the rich.
Why does the rightwing embrace the Race to the Bottom BS? Look at the huge profits companies are raking in, and the huge disparity of pay going to the CEO's and shareholders? Then look at the Germans with three months vacation, and Canadians with health care for all, and then look at the wage stagnation in the US, the ever decreasing benefits like pensions, and you can see this started when unions went away.
Why do you aspire to be like people in third-world countries? Instead of a Race to the Bottom, why not a tide that lifts all boats? There's plenty of money, there's just no more profit sharing or loyalty to employees in the US anymore. Instead of attacking what other countries or union workers have, ask why not me too?
True:
I assume that you find something inherently wrong with being a "white middle-aged Teabagger". Please elucidate. Though I am not a "Teabagger", I fit nicely into the other two categories and I'd like to know what's wrong with me, I've wondered about that for a long time. After all, I "support democracy, pay (my) taxes, volunteer and help the needy". Not only that, I supply good-paying jobs to my employees, help them with their school, provide them with healthcare, 401k, and advise them on financial and even personal matters when asked to do so. So do please tell me where I'm going wrong.
Incidentally, I don't think Big Business should be running everything. I find large companies to be generally callous and mercenary. But I do believe government should be minimized whenever possible. It is inefficient, ineffective, and not customer-oriented.
Well, I said in a previous post that the Prez better get a new campaign speech that had some truth in it since the ones he was spouting were tanking. So he did say something true, and then goes on to yet again support the Public sector (Union) jobs, still having no clue that this is not what the US REALLY needs. Funny thing?.....I don't know any Teacher, Cop, or Firefighter that either lost his job, or needs a job, but I know TONS of folks who worked in the Private sector and would LOVE to have a job.
We need anemic public sector hiring and aggressive private sector hiring, but we also need a demand for our products, and more so a return of products that have left the country. Nothing has been done to fix that, and I can say with certainty, will not happen as long as Obama is in office.
I think Obama's statement this morning was a more truthful representation of his actual opinion than the politically calculated backtrack he gave this afternoon after he realized it was a dumb thing to say and needed to do damage control. It does appear he's just interested in lining the pockets of his government special interest cronies, rather than getting the economy working again for everyone.
True:
I know you mean well, and you don't seem to be too mean-spirited, unlike a lot of your liberal compatriots, so here's my rebuttal.
First, I don't think using the USPS as a shining example is a good idea. They aren't competition for UPS, FedEx, etc. They're sort of minor-league these days. But to address your point on health care, yes, it sounds like a good idea, and in an altruistic world it would work. But sadly we do not live in such a world. All human beings seek a reward for work. As individuals, we call it a paycheck, and in business we call it profit. Whether it is moral or not, profit is a motivating force, and without it there is little or incentive to take risk or invest effort. I agree that it is sad we must use profit to motivate us to help the sick, but that's just the way it is. Ultimately, there must be a quid pro quo for anyone to do anything, and in the case of the healthcare profession, that comes in the form of monetary reward. Yes, by taking profits out of Big Pharma, you'd make drugs a lot cheaper. But how many drugs would go undiscovered if not for the promise of profit at some later date?
Regarding your argument about minimum wage, I think you're putting the cart before the horse. We do not need to legislate a living wage. If people were better educated and trained, competition by companies for good people would necessarily drive wages up. Scarcity of resources, and whatnot. As an example, I hire directly from a local trades high school, and I would never think of paying even my co-ops minimum wage because they're worth much more than that to me as an investment for my company, and I don't want them going to work for someone else. Am I ultimately motivated by profit? Absolutely. But my slight amount of greed keeps me motivated to grow my little enterprise and give even more people jobs. You know, capitalism.
I agree that CEO pay is obscene. I don't know what to do about it. That group of people is virtually untouchable. They live in rarified air and travel in circles of people we can never have access to. They're our aristocracy, and it's ultimately unhealthy.
I disagree that lack of unions has degraded the working person's condition. I have worked in exactly two union shops in my life, and exactly two of them are now out of business. So now NONE of those people have jobs because the union would not bend enough for the companies to stay afloat. To me unions don't sound like such a good deal. The point is this; have good skills, be a good employee, and a good (non-union) company will hire you. They're out there. Lots of them.
Despair not. There is a rising tide coming for us anyway, despite our internal bickering. Manufacturing is making a comeback, and it is both my hope and belief that it will pave the way for a new/old economy here in the good old USA. One built on the actual creation of wealth, and not the false gods of profit by moneychanging, speculation/gambling, and predatory lending (AKA Wall Street).
Enough of your carping! There is progress:
...the numbers for Bush's last three months. Between October and November, 597,000 jobs were lost; between November and December, 681,000 were lost; and between December and January, 741,000 were lost.
April 2012 marks the 26th straight month of gains in private-sector employment, for a total of 4.2 million private-sector jobs.
DJIA Dec 1, 2008 = 8149
DJIA Jun 8, 2012 = 12,554
Dec 29, 2008 U.S. corporate earnings probably fell for a sixth-straight quarter, the longest streak in at least 20 years, as consumer spending on automobiles, homes and retailers collapsed.
May 11, 2012 Fortune magazine released its ranking of the 500 biggest US corporations Monday, which showed that they received a record-breaking $824 billion in combined profits in 2011, up 16 percent from 2010.
Or did you all forget about Bush? You remember George W. Bush, don't you? The man who ran on the same exact same platform that Mitt Romney is running on right now!
"To restore confidence in government, [George W. Bush] will...attack pork-barrel spending."
"As President, Governor Bush will pay the debt down to a historically low level."
"The Social Security surplus must be locked away only for Social Security."
Lies, all lies! But now, I should believe Romney, the man who hired all of Bush's economic advisors, the man who proclaimed that a good vice presidential candidate would be Dick Cheney and the man who promises to do exactly what George W. Bush promised to do... and didn't! Why in the hell should I believe this man?
No matter what you say, things are better than they were when Bush left office - RAN like a scared little child from the recession he created! You people got a real problem if you think Romney is going to do any better than Obama!
re: "The current one... is completely overwhelmed by the job. He has done nothing he promised, (what a surprise)"
The first medical insurance reform of any significance, 16 top al Qaeda, 2 million new jobs, alternative energy funding, new oil and nuclear permits, DADT, closing Guantanamo (I dont' want to hear it, he did his part...he's president, not King)...plus actual handling Deepwater Horizon, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Israel and Iran etc. Meanwhile I don't remember any of the idiocies of the previous administration. I realize we're dealing with "motivated reasoning" here...but those are the facts you need to ignore somehow.
I need to add something...when one considers the rapidly compounding problems of environmental pollution, poor quality and variety of food, genetic engineering (of food), climate change plus a completely wrong-headed sense of what an economy should be about (how does eternal growth make any sense at all?)...we just don't have time to keep allowing Limbaugh/Fox/homeschooling Bible crunchers to wag the dog. Whatever it takes...we have at most 10 years to set a new course.
The LIBERALS say Wisconsin wasn't a true picture of the future of its voting because a poll told them so . The polls also said it would be a tight race !!! This and all the other loses shows a beat down is coming in November for OBAMA !!!! Vote Republican !!!!
@ EEngineer - those jobs losses at the end of the Bush Presidency was not his fault. As soon as it was clear, we would have an anti-business President, business began to hunker down and protect themselves as they knew what was coming. Look back at the time right before Clinton came into Office, the same thing happened then too.
...those jobs losses at the end of the Bush Presidency was not his fault.
I do not agree. Those job losses at the end of his presidency were exactly and precisely the fault of George W. Bush. Research it - start with the American Dream Act, where he reduced Fannie/Freddie and FHA loan downpayments to 3%. Then look at the massive $440B he instructed GSE's to invest in the secondary loan market, you know, buying risky home loans from the private loan market so private lenders didn't have to worry about writing risky loans anymore. Then research Bush's interference with any state or local actions to reign in risky lending practices - key phrase to search on here is "preemption".
When you are all done, it will be real obvious that George W. Bush caused the home mortgage crisis, trashed the American economy and did it with the help of Republican majorities in both houses of Congress.

"I have NO patience for rookie's..."
So now you are bragging about being a "professional blogger?" A "big dog?" Is this the extent of your life?
EEngineer - you are blaming Democratic created plans on Bush. Bush wanted to reign Freddie and Fanny in because all the intelligent people knew they were playing a dangerous, but folks like Barney Frank said otherwise and the Democrats won because they had Congress at that time. Now we are back to the banking rules of the 1980's for the most part and all the people who weren't around then are freaking out. Me, being old enough to have lived this before, not so much. There is nothing wrong with having criteria to secure a loan or mortgage. (So that they are much more likely to be able to pay the money back.) Common sense sucks, doesn't it......too bad Liberal have yet to figure this out.
It would be nice if the teacons in Congress would stop Sabotaging this Nation for political gain.
"If I don't have the deficit cut in half in 4 years, I'll resign." ~ Obama
willowbrook -- Holy cow, and even more crazy is people voted for that.
The Lost Decade and Great Recession (2001-2011) correlates with the GOP/Bush-era policies of tax cuts for the rich, unpaid wars, and deregulation -- not to mention jobs barely kept pace with population growth during the Bush administration. But we are still suffering from the Bush tax cuts for the rich, we still are not protected from Too Big To Fail, and are still paying for the debt/deficits created from long, unnecessary wars.
The day you rightwingers admit that voodoo economics don't work, and then vote for representatives who will actually govern, is the day this great nation can move FORWARD again.

Apple's stock is sure to soar now that you are criticizing them !
Congrats on your efforts to take Scott Walker down, it was a smashing success !
I hope you have as much success with the "Hack Attack" that your trying on Romney.
The President said that if he could not fix the economy in three years that he does not deserve a second term. Well the President is admitting that he has not fixed the economy and therefore by his own words he does not deserve a second term. If the President is true to his word than he should announce that his is no longer running for reelection. The President needs to abide by his own commitments.
Couldn't even making a couple hours without clearing up another F*up.
Piss poor
lolllllllllllllll
No work this afternoon Spanky?
Gee...business in SD is greeeeaaaaaat...isn't it...
Sure it is.
What was the script on the teleprompter? Or did the White House run a poll to change their mind on what they just said?
Thats it Mickey....... thats all you got? I figured Mickey from NY would have more than that. Spankys tossing softballs at you....lol!
Hey Spanky -
Off subject, but did you see where your favotite AG testified about internal Justice Department e-mails such as ....
testified that the words "Fast and Furious" and "the number of guns that have walked" don't refer to Operation Fast and Furious / gun walking?
These guys are simply priceless.
Top o' the day Mickey.
Actually at a board meeting all day today and tomorrow.
Boring as hell, but good money and corporate headquarters on bluff in Monterey Bay.
Bob - that was teh best testimony since Clintons - definition of is.
Classic libbie fail.
Holder is toast.
Bill Clinton - "The Bush tax cuts are good. No, wait, they're bad. I'm confused, which Bush are we talking about again?"
Oh come on Mickey, come back. Amuse me, I'm bored.
Spanky-
I am always amused reading your comments. You are very good at pointing the finger of blame at Obama. However, you seem to ignore the contributions the GOP has made to our growing economy. Oh wait, that's right, they haven't made ANY.
Stop whining and complaining. If you think you can do a better job, by all means, tell us exactly in detail what you would do.
You sound ridiculously stupid and ignorant. We will not go into the number of times Romney has had to walk statements back. Obama really just clarified his statement for the obtuse who could not understand what he was saying about private sector jobs. It is no secret that the majority of jobs created this year were created by the private sector. It is so troublesome that there are so many obtuse and uninformed people who post comments on this site.
Easy, peasy, fresh and easy - all I need to do is vote for Romney.
By Obama.
Come on ItsAbout - even Clinton knows he's terrible and taxes need to be low.
Spanky-
Oh, but I am interested in YOUR plan. I am sure you can please 300+ Million American's, get Congress to agree w/you every step of the way, and usher in a whole new era of economic prosperity. :)
Stop whining and complaining, its getting rather.... old.
ItsAboutTime - Spanky, like Romney, doesn't have a clue. Great that you called him out on it!
Obama/Biden 2012
Ta DA...the amazing shrinking Obama...this has been a bad six weeks, and he's only making it worse...thank you Mr Obama...I wonder if the White House will not declare that Obama is now dead to us, like they did to the mayor of Newark...
TJM - IT'S President Obama. You're a dolt!
You mean like President Bush...I respect the office, the man needs to earn the respect.
SeekingSanity
Thanks...whining and complaining makes someone lose all credibility. We all know that President Obama and the Dems has not done everything right... but neither has the good bye old party either.
Oh come on you silly, silly libbies - all we need to do is open the outer bank and scale the EPA way back.
Might be nice to let them start drilling in Cali, both on and off shore. That alone, given our vast resources would cause an immediate price reduction on the futures market.
You know just do the exact opposite of President "your electricity will necessarily skyrocket."
And come on, it's Friday, and although I have to work most of the day tomorrow - it really is fantastic weather. Plus I'll be dropping back through Paso Robles. They have some great wineries there. Sunday is gonna be good.
TJMO7 - President Obama has earned it far more than President Bush. If you think Dubya earned it you have no clue - about anything! Pathetic!
Spanky - from your posts I'd say you've already been hitting the bottle!
So let's look at our great Community Organizer In Chief's week:
1) Monday - Six fundraisers ALL AROUND Wisconsin, but can't find time to "put on some comfortable shoes" to help support the Public Sector Union workers in the Recall Election
2) Tuesday - Instead of showing up in Wisconsin to support the Democrats the Union Fat Cats, he simply types out a tweet from the White House, to busy to even call anyone. The Tweet was probably sent out by a staffer as an after thought.
3) Wednesday - ANOTHER fundraiser in Hollywood, where he tries to drop a joke about his wife "going all the way down" with the lesbian Ellen DeGeneres. After plenty of yuck yuks form the attendees, the media handlers move heaven and earth to "spike" the story. Hmmmm, I wonder if that's why Michelle went to Spain on Barry's birthday in 2010.
4) Thursady - Chris Rock says that Obama is a Zebra because he's half white and half black but we "ignore Obama’s whiteness." How nice of Mr. Rock. I suppose MSNBC will start calling Obama our first African White President, just like they've invented a new title for George Zimmerman, Hispanic White.
5) Friday - Obama calls a Press Conference, not to announce some new impressive Government program to address the Nation's economic woes. No, this nutcase tells us the "private sector is doing just fine" and that we need to borrow more money, or raise taxes, so we can hire MORE GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES.
I'm hopping Obama louses in a landside, but with more weeks like this, maybe we need a "mercy rule" and just call the election.
NOBAMA 2012!
.
John-2006106
and where was Romney? I don't recall he went to Wisconsin at all now did he... Oh and didn't Romney just announce that he raised more cash than Obama did? Oh but wait wait wait, since this is Obama, its wrong, but if its Romney its right.... Oh I think President Bush did the same things here in 2004 minus the recall election right....
Shakes head.. Amazes me how people "IGNORE" all the facts but are very good at whining/complaining.
I suspect he's sitting back thinking - man this guy is killing himself.
It's called staying off the radar. Let O implode all by himself.
With a little help from his friends - Booker and Clinton. And just who will be next?
I'll guess Biden.
John,
Shhh.....you can be a White or by golly a Black Hispanic, or didn't you know that race and ethnicity are NOT the same?
This is a stated "fact" not some invention by MSNBC. I take it you never filled out a US census form or filled out a job application, lately have you? Once again this great country is falling behind in knowing the difference between an "invention" or "untruth" and facts.
Mike in Delray
No Mike. Government doesn't need to be involved in every aspect of our lives or businesses. However, This is 2012. We do not treat women like second class citizens when it comes to pay. They do the same job as a male and perform at the same level, BOTH Sexes are entitled to the same pay. Why is that so hard for the GOP supporters to understand.
Another warm and fuzzy feel good moment taken away again.
Doesn't Obama know he is NOT supposed to address the people without a teleprompter?!?!? I never thought I would say this but there now actually IS a president more incompetent than Jimmy Carter!! Congratulations Obama for assuming the role as the WORST president of all time!! We knew Obama was incompetent and doesn't know about how an economy works but Obama makes Jimmy Carter now look like an economic GENIUS!!
I actually think this comment that the private sector is "Fine" is the last straw. The Dems have been scrambling now for about 2 months trying to find SOMETHING they could use for negative ads (since Obama can't run on his own record) whether it is that Republicans "doesn't like women" or "Bain Capital" but nothing is working. But NOW the president says the private sector is "fine"? How can Obama now say he can FIX the economy when he stated this tragic and awful economy is "fine"? I think you can poke him with a fork and realize he is now "done". I don't see anyway he can turn around his obvious incompetence now........
End of an Error 1-20-2013
Bushes in their passion/greed did dirty jobs for Saudis and oil companies.
They gave Iraqi wars; manipulated oil prices quite high; and made Saudis and co richer.
In US, British and many European nations, people have become poorer, jobless and without much health cares for the sick and elderly.
Reduce the oil prices for a start. Remove sanctions on Iranian oil.
We have no business in Syria and Iran. Let the Shiites and Sunnis handle their battles. It is not our jobs to do dirty jobs of Saudis.
It's about time Barry calls John Kerry to find out how to overcome a 'swift boat' comment! Not sure he'll like the answer...........
So what was it that made it so "absolutely clear" just a couple of hours later? How did the economy go down the $h!tter in a couple of hours?
Amazing how an opposing view clears up a little confusion.
Let me guess - Bush wrote the speech and jacked up the teleprompter.
ItsAboutTime (Post 2.22)
Where was Romney? Gosh, I don't recall Romney pledging that "when I'm in the White House, I'll put on a pair of comfortable shoes myself, I'll work on that picket line with you as President of the United States." (NOT)
Maybe Obama left his comfortable shoes in Hollywood and just didn't have time to make it to Wisconsin, I mean he had SIX FUNDRAISERS in the surrounding states, one of them just 30 miles from Wisconsin. If Romney had said he would stand with someone, then didn't, he would deserve criticism, but it was OBAMA who made that pledge, then simply cowered in the White House, feebly typing out a last minute pathetic Tweet. Here, you can hear Obama's own pledge:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VWIuNmY93E
I can see defending someone over matters of opinion or principle, but to deny the truth like this is simply hypocritical and vapid thinking. Surely you're not as insane as Fiesty, the DNC staff writer pretending to be an average citizen.
NOBAMA 2012!
.
.
I watched President Obama "clarify" his remark, more political speak! All he had to do was say "I misspoke", short and sweet to the point! But it seems his ego wouldn't allow him to even consider he may have made a mistake, and his clarification was just another politician doing a lot of talking without actually saying anything!
He is so used to lying and having it accepted by his admirers that he wasn't prepared when this lie was such a big one that even the press corps called him on it.
John-2006106
Once again, where was Romney? I already know where Obama was, but where was Romney? Why is it so hard for the GOP to answer the question. Or is it simply because, you have a double standard where the Dems/Obama are concerned.
I also find it amusing that it's WRONG for Obama to campaign for re-election, but it was okay when Former President Bush did it right...... Definitely a DOUBLE standard from the GOP.
Obama/Biden 2012.
Linda in Texas-469280
Hmmmm... Sounds like you are describing Rick Perry.
What difference does it make where Romney was? It was obama who stepped on his own manhood. Would the bummer not have F'd up if you had known the whereabouts of Romney?
Tell Congress get this bill going: "Democrats, Secretary LaHood Call on House Republicans To Pass Senate Jobs Bill" Infrastructure, Highways, rebuild our Roads and Bridges which are falling apart, across the country:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRINX7oIklU
This could put over a million people back to work.
This may be off subject, but I just gotta say: Spanky is at a "bored" meeting? Gazing out at Monterey Bay? Posting on Newsvine? Obviously paying close attention on behalf of the shareholders, in between posts? May be just another thing that is wrong with corporate America? As a shareholder in several public utility companies, I have to say that there is no way that I can vet the candidates for board membership just based on the cv's sent around with the ballots. So, as far as I know, cronyism at its worst. Who do I have to know/be related to, to get a seat at the table?
One on jobs:
"Democrats, Secretary LaHood Call on House Republicans To Pass Senate Jobs Bill"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRINX7oIklU
over a million construction jobs could be created, but House Republicans Voted against it.
Hahaha, what's funny is how in an attempt to pounce (or in the case of Romney the bully, to mock) what the president said, the Teapublicans admitted that the middle class and working poor DO need good paying jobs. Now we just need to get them to admit to blocking recovery, and why they won't pass the Jobs Act. Boehner, McConnell, where are the JOBS you promised, where?!
the thinker-318752 -- The stock market, corporations, and CEOs in the private sector ARE doing fine, are they not? Romney, who only cares about the 1% is playing YOU for a fool.
Obama, in creating "class warfare" of "taxing the wealthy", fails to state, the Federal Government could tax all the wealth from the "wealthy" and still not balance the Federal Budget!
Government has grown too big, too many politicians have promised too much to get elected and too many are dependent on living off of "big brother"!
Cut, Cap, Balance! Including the Military Industrial Complex!
American certified voter and taxpayer:
And just think, the #2 in charge....Mr. Biden....thinks that plants can grow without soil, water, or sun. I am still trying to figure out what Mr. Biden meant by "Senior Spots".
Sheeesh, no wonder America has been going down the tubes these past 3 1/2 years.
Wait a minute....this is just an indication that Mr. Obama will announce Mrs. Clinton as his running mate during the Democratic National Convention. Yep, throw Mr. Biden under the ObamaWagon like the rest of his voter base.
The TeaCons in Congress are deliberately Sabotaging our Country for their greedy political gain at all cost, they will Bankrupt this Nation. This is the worse Congress this Nation has ever had !!!!!!
Patriotic: But if the "Teacons" are deliberately sabotaging our country then how come "the private sector economy is doing fine"?!?!
Try to stay on topic. Liberals bouncing around trying to deflect the incompetence of this president is hilarious:)!!
I don't believe sharing much of the blame on the Bush administration for this massive recession/depression is "bouncing around topics" Bush's failed domestic policy while he was consumed with two worthless wars for nearly a decade, put us in this position, and this economy might come back by 2014, IF.... IF, the global economies do not sink into collapse. The fact is, the Tea Party hopefuls who came in 2010 to congress, stifled progress to a screeching halt, even your majority leader in the house, was pulling his hair out with their over simplified approach to government spending, and were all sitting here paying for the stale mate.
This poor guy cannot get out of the way of himself. Just wow!
President Obama has been traveling the globe repairing our relationships with our allies, he flew to Afghanistan to negotiate the wind down of Bush's War, he personally authorizes the execution of al Qaida operatives, including Bin Laden, he meets with European leaders to coordinate a response to Syria, Libya and Egypt, he grapples with an uncooperative Congress, and he still manages to inspire school children to reach for their dreams.
What have you done lately?
He's just the bee's knees, right Amy?
He drives us deeper into debt, proposes budgets no one (not even in his own party) will vote for, raises the debt limit after saying it was poor leadership to do so, keeps gitmo open (even has it upgraded) after saying he'll close it, extends tax cuts he campaigns on repealing, starts aggression towards Libya without congressional approval, breaks his promises on the patriot act...
TexasT-2966501
and yet, he is still doing better than Perry.
Okay all you Right Wing Nut Jobs out there:
Do any of you believe Willard knows how much a loaf of bread costs at the grocery store? (Me neither...THAT is out of touch! DUH.)
Spanky... you are always going on about the price of a gallon of gas at the pump - at least you were until the President came down on the speculators and the price began diminishing ---- but do YOU think Mittens has any idea how much it is?
You idiots are rather amusing with your non-troversies and attempts to create anti-American President talking points and issues, but all you are doing is proving to the world that teapublicans simply can not prioritize properly and do not understand what is truly important and which items not so much.
I would ROTFL if you all weren't so sad!
Then, you buy a "win" in Wisconsin which does what? Harms labor & unions - "You don't need any raise, just keep working and earning ME more dollars, peons - you can't compel me [wealthy, big corps] to provide for you any more, so slave away; I want MORE PROFIT from your labors!"
Talk about class warfare.
GOP/TEA is the epitome!
Now lets hear your spin, whining and excuses/justifications RNC-Romney supporters.
HAHAHAHA!
Obama came doen on someone?
Huh, I just paid $4.23 per gallon in Paso Robles yesterday.
Bee's Knees hi is.
Spanky-
How should the price of gas come down then. Let's hear what your plan is??? :) come on, we are all ears.
Not keeping up on things there Spank.
Not good.
Information is power you know - or at least some have tried to tell me that.
...the llama's pajamas fer sure...
Stupid? Gas still well over $4.00 here in the progressive paradise that is Cai.
We get EPA required 'summer blend.'
We are so lucky.
Huh, I just paid $4.23 per gallon in Paso Robles yesterday.
Spanky -
I just payed $3.59 in Phoenix. Down about .50 cents in the last couple of months. If they aren't dropping in your area, it sounds like a local issue, not Obama's. Not that it ever was an Obama issue in the first place...
Amy portland, With all the leaks coming out of the WH, No nation is gonna listen to this betrayer-in-chief anymore...
wastelandpast - EVERY nation listens to this President - unlike Bush who every nation tuned out.
Obama/Biden 2012 because the GOP is to stupid to lead anyone!
Pardon me waste but the leaks you complain about did not come from the WH as you mistakenly posted.
Please attempt to get your facts straight and post the truth if at all possible in the future.
Thanks.
What is that? You are one of those RWNJ's so it is impossible for you to post truth?
Though so.
Seeking Sanity...are you for real...every nation listens to Obama...come on, not even you believe that...just look at Iran and Pakistan, North Korea, Afghanistan, Germany, Japan, France, Spain, Greece, Mexico, China, Russia...you know, maybe it will be easier if you just tell us which nations you think actually listen to Obama...it will be a shorter list.
TJM:
The point is that the nations of the world DO listen to USA much more now then ten yrs. ago.
The countries you listed certainly give President Obama more consideration because he as proven to them that he speaks softly but carries a big stick; that he is fair but strong; that he is a man of his word who deals more in truth and thus would never swear that one of them had WMD's pointed at us unless they did, in fact, have WMD's pointed at us, then he would proceed to rectifiy the problem....
Spanky-
Wow, and so I guess its President Obama's fault on the price of a gallon of gas in California right...... shakes head. Even President Bush confirmed he could do nothing about the price of gas..
You me President "your energy costs will skyrocket."
It really is the on thing he got right.
And I know you saw the mega auction prices? Next year is going to be really really bad.
Oh and ITSABOUT - I also seem to recall a Obama ad were he was in a gas station, blaming bush for gas prices.
Now why would he do that if what you say is true?
Wait, are you smarter than Obama - the smartest man in the world?
Spanky-
He did blame Obama for Gas Prices. Perhaps when he got in the White House, he also realized he couldn't change the price too right? But its only wrong if Obama does it and not Bush right.... Whining/Complaining, and stupidity is no way to go through life son.
The only way gas prices will come down in this country is to get the "Oil Corporations" to come on board with a true energy plan. Stop letting wall street speculators and media HYPE drive up the costs. Start using more fuel efficient cars instead of gas guzzlers. Identify and use other energy sources etc.
And I am obviously the best typist in the world.
Or maybe worst multi-tasker.
I meant 'You Mean President "skyrocketing energy prices" and Mega Watt auction prices.
Damn those waves, they just keep crashing in and the CFO drones on and on...
No the pres can control to a large degree, mostly through perception.
If we really do go all in, as a national policy, the prices will fall.
It's all about supply and demand.
Dude - fuel sipping cars suck ass. Small, gutless tin traps.
Oh and what % of the world's oil do you think American companies control?
Spanky-
http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/02/08/421061/big-oil-higher-prices-record-profits-less-oil/
Enjoy :) I think that says it all right.
TJM07 - get real. President Obama has re-established our reputation in the world. We are now respected once again. If you knew anything, you'd know that. And, the countries you list have a great deal of respect for this President - as do other countries.
When you make up lies like you do - you just look more foolish!
Nope, just not a credible source.
I think they might be a tad biased.
By the way - we all know who makes the most profit per gallon, and it ain't the oil companies.
Sanity - I know it was not intended, but that was funny.
Spanky,
If you looked up from your computer once in a while and read the paper or listened to talk radio, you'd just may learn something. While everyone else in the country may see lower gas prices, we will not. It's not the POTUS fault that our refinery's are not producing and are currently down for maintenance. No refining, no gas. But then again, you want to blame everyone else for your ills than take some responsibility.
Not everyone else, CR:
Just President Obama.
All the problems known in this world are caused by him - a RWNJ's worst nightmare: a black man in the White House.... heads exploding!
They just can't stand it!
Spanky-
See the funny thing Spanky.. if you don't like my source, then post one of your own. Simple right??:-).
The LIBERALS say that Wisconsin polls show that OBAMA will get re-elected in November, just like the polls showed c close race for the Governor !!! Obama is toast in November, VOTE REPUBLICAN !!!
Right on Johnny N.
I found it funny this week, how the left still feels Obama has WI in his pocket. "Look at the polls", they say. Yeah, the same polls that MISSED the re-call election big time.
Starting to get desperate for Obama. The next 5 mos will be interesting.
Attention Liberals who are always saying Obama is "moderate"...or that's he's not Socialist in his beliefs. Uh, this type of blunder/back peddle is what we're talking about. Not the act itself but Obama's beliefs.
It would be one thing to simply say something as completely ignorant or factually wrong as Obama did. It's another to try and make us feel like lack of hiring in the "Public Sector" is one of the problems with the economy. Give me a break.
In that case, Obama should focus on economy instead of Syria and Iran.
Remove sanctions on Iranian oil and reduce oil prices.
Here Hillarys and others dramas on Syria and Iran won't help and they don't get jobs for the unemployed.
@SeekingSanity, your statement is HIGHLY debatable at best.
It's about time, oh yes, "record profits" vs price/barrel vs pump prices. LOL I see PT barnum was right "there is a sucker born every minute" and you're it.
To bad think progress likes to imply things that have little meaning. If your op-ed think progress wanted to be really honest they would have posted their revenues as a % of after tax expenses. Then again, a profit margin of 5-6% just doesn't have the same impact as saying record profits.
Raider...
FR libs take great comfort in blasting any comments or gaffs made by GOP politicians, but watch out if obama shows us what he is made of. Come october, I might have to listen to the campaign ads. Should be humorous this go around.
Johnny N.
Sure vote Republican IF:
“Republicans approve of the American farmer, but they are willing to help him go broke. They stand four-square for the American home--but not for housing. They are strong for labor--but they are stronger for restricting labor's rights. They favor minimum wage--the smaller the minimum wage the better. They endorse educational opportunity for all--but they won't spend money for teachers or for schools. They think modern medical care and hospitals are fine--for people who can afford them. They consider electrical power a great blessing--but only when the private power companies get their rake-off. They think American standard of living is a fine thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire of Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it.”
Harry S Truman
Attention johnathon, raider, american & the rest of you blabbering RNC-TEA imbeciles.
Please learn to read and to get facts before jumping on the TEA/GOP bandwagon of non-issues:
President Obama makes A LOT more sense and obviously is much more intelligent than Mittens Romney AND all you RWNJ's---
STOP DISSING AMERICA! Cease trying to do harm to my country! Quit supporting and celebrating failures of this nation!
Try putting on your big girl panties and your stars and stripes flag ties, and GET BEHIND AMERICA and her President so we can continue to move forward!!!!
The narrator in the ad Crossroads GPS is launching solemnly intones: “In 2008, Barack Obama said, ‘We can’t mortgage our children’s future on a mountain of debt.’ Now he’s adding $4 billion in debt every day, borrowing from China for his spending. Every second, growing our debt faster than our economy,” he continues. “Tell Obama, stop the spending.”
This is a baldface lie, by the way.
President Obama isn’t adding to the debt every day. The debt is growing because of obligations entered into long ago, many under George W. Bush – including two giant tax cuts that went mostly to the very wealthy that were supposed to be temporary and which are still going, courtesy of Republican blackmail over raising the debt limit.
In reality, government spending as a portion of GDP keeps dropping.
As I said, I don’t know who’s financing this big lie ("...Obama's adding $4 billion in debt every day") but there’s good reason to think it’s some combination of Wall Street, big corporations, and the billionaire Koch brothers.
According to the reliable inside-Washington source “Politico,” the Koch brothers’ network alone will be spending $400 million over the next six months trying to defeat Obama, which is more than Senator John McCain spent on his entire 2008 campaign.
Big corporations and Wall Street are also secretly funneling big bucks into front groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that will use the money to air anti-Obama ads, while keeping secret the identities of these firms.
Looking at the all the anti-Obama super PACs and political fronts like Crossroads GPS, Politico estimates the anti-Obama forces (including the Romney campaign) will outspend Obama and pro-Obama groups by 2 to 1.
How can it be that big corporations and billionaires will be spending unlimited amounts on big lies like this one, without any accountability because no one will know where the money is coming from?
I fear that at least since 2010 we’ve been witnessing a quiet, slow-motion coup d’etat whose purpose is to repeal every bit of progressive legislation since the New Deal and entrench the privileged positions of the wealthy and powerful — who haven’t been as wealthy or as powerful since the Gilded Age of the late 19th century.
Its technique is to inundate America with a few big lies, told over and over (the debt is Obama’s fault and it’s out of control; corporations and the very rich are the “job creators” that need tax cuts; government is the enemy, and its regulations are strangling the private sector; unions are bad; and so on), ...and tell them so often they’re taken as fact.
http://truth-out.org/opinion/item/9622-the-big-lie-coup-detat
rradkido, let's say for the sake of argument that Obama inherited a big mess. Why isn't the country back on track? He, and his democrat cronies, had the first two years to make it all better and the repubs couldn't do anything about it. Did they do away with the tax credits? No and they are still debating them. Congress could have stopped any and all subsidies to people like the oil companies, but they didn't. They could have raised taxes on the rich, but they didn't.
Obama promised to close Gitmo, he even signed something saying it would be closed in a year, but its still going strong. His health care plan was so popular he needed to exempt 5 states, including Harry Reid's state of Nevada, to get it passed and we still don't know all of the details and its been 2 years since it was signed into law. Obama likes to talk big about Iraq and how he got us out of there but if you read the record there were negotiations for the US to stay but the US and Iraq couldn't agree on some status of forces issues so we left. Obama also railed on Bush about Afghanistan, but he built up forces and stepped up attacks I agree wuth this one though).
You complain about money coming in for Repubs but what about the money for the dems? They raised more than the repubs. There are the dem SuperPACs and they have backing from people like Soros. The debate can be made that the media, and Hollywood, favors Obama.
You complain about things said about Obama's gov't but remember the gov't only spends money, it does not make it, except for the printing. No matter how much money is saved there is no money earned so who do we need to support when it comes to getting money--business. Big or small, these need support. Doesn't mean they get to run wild but they do need gov't to step aside and let them do what thye do best and make money, hire people and those people pay taxes. If the gov't wants to help then raise import tariffs to make it more economical to make a product in the US, reduce taxes for companies who hire from the welfare rolls, give tax incentives for new businesses and probably a myriad of other things other than raise the taxes on a business because it looks good politically.
btldriver
Oh, no, btl:
Instead lets go with the tea/gop history re-write and tell voters that everything, especially the economy, was rosy when we had Dumbya/Cheney in the White House...
Sorry - just realized that YOU and your ilk and the RNC-TEA really do believe Bush policies were fine and dandy and America was in better condition with them.
DUH! How idiotic!
See: this "out of touch with reality" mentality of Romney & the GOP/TEA is just ONE of many reasons voters should avoid Republicans in the election... obviously, without question, THEY LIE TO US!
te
That would make 90% of the Government (including Obama) out of touch with people.
Gas here has been at 4.45 and has stayed that way for over 2 months not shifting more than 5 cents.
Yeah... doesn't that just irk you at Venezuala, Syria, Canada and OPEC...
playing their silly little games and allowing Big Oil to get in position to set more new quarterly record profits. And WE go for it! Next they will try to sell us fried ice cream... idiotic!
Good thing we have Obama in the White House to ease it up a little instead of some oil guy (remember 2001-2009?) ----
Obama (if that is his name) is complicit in any economic, social or financial activity which is associated with the United States of America.
Perhaps you have read or heard it said that there are people who have eyes to see and see not, have ears to hear and hear not ?
Well then you just need to take a few seconds and recall the strident voice of this socialist wanna be dictator when he said he would 'side' with islam EVERY time.
When he said he wanted to BANKRUPT the coal industry, when he said we don't need a powerful armed force, when he said he was above and beyond the law, when he said he would not show his passport activities, when he declined to show the ORIGINAL birth certificate but produced a forgery or a phony.
When he said he barely knew that treasonous Bill Ayres and yet he sat on committees with him, had some of his college paid for by Ayres dad, and when he lied about his relationship with Larry Sinclair and the so called Rev Wright.
And of course when he said that 7.00 dollars per gallon would be an acceptable price for gasoline in the US? That must tell even the staunchest left wing ideologues that he is NOT an American Patriot.
Aaaah yes, eyes to see and see not. Ears to hear and hear not.
Time to see what is happening America. Time to hear what is happening America.
Because it can be too late if we don't evict this destroyer from office this November.
oooooooo...
boogymen in the closet;
and appears there is one on this thread too - trying his best to undermine the United States of America and her Head of State.
Probably some Muslim with designs to take over this nation from within by turning the Citizens against their President.
Too bad for him... he is about to learn that Americans do NOT turn their backs upon their President just because some outsider tries to plant seeds of dissention.
Imbicile!
SeekingSanity...I at least provided a list of nations that do not respect this President...you on the on hand look very foolish when you cannot provide any evidence to the contray and simply attack my posts. Come on big boy, put your facts where your mouth is...you truly lack credibility...
I have never seen such haters....so sad that your thinking is so distorted...tooo much "Entertainment Radio" thinking that they are factual...NOT..
Many posts start out with pure hate...if you don't like it here leave...good-bye
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 the Choice of the PEOPLE NOT unethical corporations/special interest hate radio
Let's see about this gas price thing, 3 months ago when gas was almost $4 per gallon, I'm referring to Oklahoma not California, it was because Obama's energy policies were solely to blame for the fuel prices according to Bill O'Reilly, who would argue with his many guests who would point to speculators, global demand, drilling techniques, limited domestic policy, yada, yada, yada, but O'Reilly said it was Obama. Now, the price of Gas is $3.12 per gallon. Guess what the problem is now? The global economy is skidding, because of Obama thus increasing supply thus dropping the price. Or, maybe, Obama's energy policy is better than what we thought.
What did Barack borrown Willard's Etch-A-Sketch?
New Clown show in town til January 2013: 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
John - no, we're hopefully voting the GOP clowns out of every office in November so most of the clown show will be gone come January. Then President Obama and Congress can begin to get things done!
Obama/Biden 2012 because we can't afford another dumb Republican as President!
The only clown is you John! I am ecstatic that you are not in a position of importance.
What times precisely are you appearing John?
No, his position on the economy is evolving...lol
And how 'bout YOU tjm?
Did you pass econ 101?
Doubt it judging from the garbage you post on here....
To all of you who voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you're not racist, vote for someone else in 2012 and prove you're not idiots. To re-elect Obama would be like backing up the Titanic to hit the iceberg again.
Obama was voted for opposing Iraqi and Afghan wars.
Why is he falling into the Saudi, oil companies and their lobbyists traps on Syria and Iran?
Is it the time to impose sanctions on Iranian oil and manipulate oil prices higher and higher compounding our mess?
Jonathan
Do a little research dear. The Saudi's are not the issue regarding Syria and haven't you noticed gas prices going down and understand what recently happened with Iran. Why Lord Why???? Who do these folks get their information from turn off talk radio and take a trip to the library.
But... Pamela...
You post truth....
Truth and facts do NOT fit the RNC/TEA political platform, so you are really confusing the RWNJ's - careful - you may make their heads explode with too much truth!
You are as stupid as yo think...I did pass intro to econ...not only that, but I ran a economic consulting firm that I founded for over 40 years. I will place my thesis against yours any day...never play golf with someone who carries a two iron or argue economic policy unless you know who you are opposing...just a little piece of advice that hopefully will make your life a little happier in these trying times.
He likes to pretend he is smarter than everyone else...... got the arrogance part down pretty good, but fell on his face for substance !
Without the benefit of his teleprompter Obama once again sticks his foot in his mouth and then has to back track on the statement he made at his press conference.
Chilled - I have more confidence in Romney than Obama. Obama has proven that he is not ready to be President and is not a leader. BTW, Obama still blaming everyone and everything except himself.
So you're claiming that the President is not ready to be the president but somebody who doesn't have a clue(Willard) should be president. Can't wait for the debates between President Obama and Willard... This is gonna be good as the President totally takes down Willard...after all no amount of coaching and practice is going to help Mr Magic Underwear..
Obama still blaming everyone and everything except himself.
Sfc - Who's everyone?
Mitts, on a daily basis, blames Obama. He blames Obama for an improved stock market. He blames Obama for job gains posted each month. That list goes on and on. Now, who is playing the blame game?
Obviously, when anybody goes for job interview, first thing employer looks at is, same or similar experience. For president's job (not a car salesman job) what experience do you need? some kind of governing experience right?
some people beat everybody in debate and they are also good at excuses and when it comes to doing it they beat no body.
Now everybody knows at-least one person who fits above description!!!!!!!
I too am waiting for the debates. Im not going to say who's going to win. You liberals can make that call. Just remember that lots of people thought Gov Walker was out debated....... and look at the results. I personally think the liberal (think better of them themselves then they should) are over inflated because of the way you think about yourselves.
Ninja, we already know O failed. What we don't know is will Mitt fail too. Granted, our odds and our choices aren't great but I would rather take a chance and let Mitt try rather then give a confirmed failure the reins again knowing that he doesn't have to worry about re-election next time. O could do alot of damage if he has nothing left to lose. As an added bonus,if (when) O is out, that will send the message that the people are watching and if Mitt screws up well get rid of him too. He'll have to perform in his 1st term if he wants a chance at a second. I admit I'm not liking either option too much because both parties are only in it for themselves so the only way to change that is to let them know that they need to do what the people that vote want or find a new job. We have to put the power back in the voters hands. Re-electing Obama only proves that they don't have to worry about keeping their jobs as long as the put on a good dog and pony show.
jollyoldsoul - oh and we see none of that from the far righties - including yourself right? Hypocrite!
Yeah, amazing what the 1%er big bucks can buy these days isn't it...
Why, heck -- Cheney got a new heart, Bain got lots of other peoples assets for themselves, Walker got another shot at governing Wisconsin, and Willard will get a TEA/GOP Presidential nomination!
Man! No wonder you conservatives are so greedy....
NOT - it IS in fact a wonder to most people.
Oh No, seeking has used the H word. LOL, she must have been looking in the mirror when she typed her comment.
Well stupid, if you want to talk about greed how greedy was it for obama outspending mccain by nearly 2 to 1 in 2008? Of for his campaign to have a $billion war chest goal this year. Of course lets also consider clooney raising $15 million in less than a day for obama and all those $35,000 to $40,000/plate fundraisers in NYC.
Lets see he got a heart from an old person they are no aloud to give them to young people.
have you even looked at their record? they made all of their money on a few deals most the broke even or lost money on.
Democrats are just as bad.
If the teapubcons would stop sabotaging this nation we would be out of this depression G "W" Bush got us in, the best way to jump start our economy is to get the teabag party out of congress.
President Obama appears to be lost. This press conference did absolutely nothing to assure the American people that the economy will get better. What I heard from the conference is 1)It's Europe fault, 2)Let's spend some more money, 3)Private Sector is doing fine. How is it that our President after 3 1/2 years doesn't have a clue about our economy. It begs the question whether is economic advisors really are educated enough to handle the job.
Ummm - that summary is actually pretty accurate, so I'm confused by your associated commentary. Uncertainty in Europe is absolutly weighing on the economy. Spending money would improve the economy right now (even if it would drive up debt, it would boost employment and thus consumption). The private sector is doing reasonably well - the private sector has been adding jobs - without the government cuts we'd be 1% lower unemployment right now.
Maybe you don't actually know what's going on?
So, Lets contrast that to what we've heard from the other side...<chirp><chirp>
Just what I thought... Republicans have nothing!
Battsman - you have to ignore most of these GOP posts. I see school just let out so many little ones are now on the family computer - trying to act like their grown up parents - with about the same success!
Obama/Biden 2012
Some of us dont need to be assured because we already know whats up. We know the party of No does not have a plan to help the economy and we know they are trying to turn this on Obama. For 31/2 years they sit on their asses and did nothing and Mitt has been running for Pres for 8 years and still nothing plausible to offer the US but lets gut some of these companies. Remember (let the car industries file bankruptcy that was really dumb. Now the Pres is out of touch no, everyone wants him to fail SO THEY CAN SAY SEE I TOLD U A BLACK CANT RUN THE COUNTRY...
I agree 100%. The Obama administration and campaign have turned into one big clown show.
TNRebel - actually, you're not - not even close. And, Mitt - oh please!!! That guy is dumber than a rock- the one he crawled out from under for this campaign - yet again. Let's see - that's 3 times now. Just can't keep him out of the way!
Oh and, by the way - it's they're - not their!
John-203..... You're clearly confused - it's the Romney clown show! And, not even funny - more just pathetic! The GOP is really stooping low!
Obama/Biden 2012
You are confused Tn rebel:
Ronald Reagan was the actor...the one acting like our President;
(Obama is the real deal!)
"Credit Default Swaps"..........hey Jane eco, a movie for you, :
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning/cron/
On Deregulation, Derivatives, CDO's, etc.
They were warned, Brooksley Born Warned them, they shut her up, and shut her down.
then it all came Crashing down. And today, Americans are Still paying for not listening to a very bright, smart lady.
She will always be able to tell them...."I Told You So"...
Looks like Obama's speechwriters must have given him Bill Clinton's talking points before realizing their mistake!
TNRebel - I see you're starting early with your hatred of everyone who isn't a demented little right winger. Too bad - you're going to be seeing Democrats holding the top offices for many years to come. We know too much to let the mental midgets lead again.
Obama/Biden 2012 because the GOP's got nothin!
I agree TNRebel, @ one time I respected them, but since Obama took office, I see the Clintons a lot differently. Actually, I see all 3 of them in a manner that I would NOT for vote any of them.
"Now let me be clear: disregard my previous 'Now let me clear' statement."
Obama: 'It is absolutely clear that the economy is not doing fine' - OK that is the first step, now to realize that HE is part of the problem not the solution. THAT is the next part.
Narcissists can't take blame for anything...ever.
Don't tell me, you voted for George W. twice. Thanks for nothing.
You can't get any more out of touch than Romney is!
blackjacket, bashing Romney is not going to help your totally out of touch and out of time Obama!
No kidding blackjackcat, his little statement in Council Bluffs, IA today was great ...
So true! My life is going to improve as is the economy if we have less school teachers (get over it if you don't like 40 kids in your class!), firemen (what? your house is on fire? take a number), and police officers ... (insert what you'd like here). Does Romney REALLY think we'll all be better off without these vital workers in our cities and States?
What an IDIOT!
Spot on Layton!
I guess ol' out- of- touch Willard can't realize that the American People were bought in Wisconsin. Voters know it.
Thanks, Not as! One of my favorite sayings is "spot on!" I sincerely doubt that phrase and Mitt Romney will every be in a complete sentence! :)
Big Horn .... as my very Republican boss used to say at times .... "walk West until your hat floats."
Election Day can't come soon enough. Good grief, get this A-hole out of the WH and out of the way.
Nick - luckily the A-hole doesn't inhabit the White House. Remember, he's building the car elevator in his home wherever! We won't have to get him out. President Obama will stay in the WH until January 2017!
Obama/Biden 2012 because we don't want the A-Hole in the White House!
There's nothing more fun, and easier, than taking potshots at the incumbent who is being attacked for stating that private sector hiring is going better than public sector hiring. That happens to be the truth. I know several people who have been out of work in the private sector for months and who now have jobs. Rove and his minions are pros at cutting, pasting and lying about what Obama says.
i know many who have been out a year and still have nothing. All professionals.
Ummm... Obama said it word for word dude. Nobody had to cut and paste anything. Why can't you guys just admit he made a mistake?
When the incumbent is as "out of touch" as our present president, even his liberal friends are starting to say things. All he has done for Three and a Half Years, is to blame everyone and everything else for all problems and take credit for the few things that went well. This is the opposite of leadership 101. Leadership 101 says take the blame and responsibility for things that go wrong and propose new solutions to fix the issues that go wrong. Leadership 101 also says spread the credit for things that go correct to show that you are working with everyone else. Of course Obama cannot work with anyone that does not believe as he does. He also keeps proposing fix issues with same things that did not work the first several times, they were tried.
underthebus,
Exactly, when you have spending cuts in the federal, state and local sector it means that jobs are lost. Shrinking jobs means shrinking tax revenue, means more use of safety net programs. it is balance that is out of whack.
The GOP answer is just say no to the job bills that Obama has asked for from the Congress to fix our roads, bridges and airports.
And Boehner and Co. are now on another vacation. They have been out of Washington for a total of nine weeks so far this year. They are indeed just collecting a paycheck from you and I and laughing all the way to the next fundraiser.
Terry, the current uemployment rate for people with a bachelor's degree was 3.9% in May.
That statement is based on the assumption that the proposals provided were wrong. I'd say that not all of us concur with your assumption.
If that is Leadership 101, Romney failed the class. Everyday he blames Obama.
Another example of the media and the public ignoring the actual issues, and focusing on irrelevant nonsense. At this rate, nobody who would make a decent President would ever want the job. Who cares if Romney said he is not concerned about the poor or likes firing people, or Obama accidentally said he's visited 57 states instead of 47? Does it matter that Romney's wife owns two Cadillacs or that Obama plays golf?
This process of taking things out of context or simply making news out of non-issues, is why the American voters are so astoundingly ignorant of things that actually matter. I realize the Internet and the 24 hour news cycle means that everyone is competing for profits. It's up to the American people to pay attention to actual news, and let these people know that we don't care about making politics into a blind horse race.
Underthebus, you have to admit that Obama and his clown show have given the GOP a lot of help.
John-2032532
And the clown circus that was the Republican Primary put alot of great quotes in the can for the Democrats to re-run, here's a sample:
we’re not going to beat Barack Obama with some guy who has Swiss bank accounts, Cayman Island accounts, owns shares of Goldman Sachs while it forecloses on Florida and is himself a stockholder in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac while he tries to think the rest of us are too stupid to put the dots together to understand what this is all about.
This is why I hate democracy sometimes. Partisanship often makes even the most intelligent person sound stupid. Is there anything wrong in saying that the private sector is doing fine, compared to the public sector, but the overall economy is not doing just as fine? Geez! what happened to logical reasoning? Democrazy at its best!
Amy..here's a quote you might see later.
"The private sector is doing fine."
I'll try to keep this simple. The public sector is not "doing fine", compared to anything. The private sector pays for the public sector. We obviously are downsizing the public sector, which is why it is not doing fine, because we cannot afford to run it at previous boom time levels. Am I going too fast? As the public sector expectantly shrinks, I don't want to here the biggest spender of all time whine about it.
John, best post I have seen in a long time.
Easy to criticize the President who is stuck with the worst job ever for an incoming president after your boy Bushie screwed everything up. So easy for you to criticize when your loser Romney that no one wanted in the first place has no ideas? Give me a break. AND if it wasn't for President Obama - that's right - PRESIDENT OBAMA, the auto industry would've tanked and we likely would have gone off the cliff completely in 2008. Oh, but I forgot, all that matters is the rich get richer by keeping tax money that should rightfully go into federal coffers, just like mine and every other middle class person's does. What does Bozo Romney have to offer but constant contradictory flip-flop statements and no ideas. And you think Flip-Flop Romney could even come close to what President Obama has done? Hey, remember Bush saying he wasn't worried about bin Laden?! Yeah! Guess who got him?! Hmmmm, could it be....PRESIDENT OBAMA??! You know it. All Romney is thinking about is his freaking "car elevator." Sickening to think this creep even has the right to run - and how many times is this? Three? Loser....
bush passed the car bailout look it up
Actually Buzz, he didn't save the auto industry.
Ford saved themselves, without any help from the government.
Blah blah blah.......... more rhetoric. How about posting something original. Another out of touch Obama supporter.
Willie Smith - do tell us! What solutions does Romney have? Because see he said he has them but isn't going to tell them during the elections. Yeah - sure he has plans.
Obama/Biden 2012 because we can't stand having Mitt f**k up the country more than Bush did!
First of all, he knew what kind of job he was getting into when he ran. Second, he has not had the worst time of any previous president. There were many worse times, before he started in. Third, as stated above he did not save the auto industry. He saved his buddies in the unions for the auto industry. He also has exempted his "unions" from most of the new taxes and troubles because of his Obama Care.
What school does one attend to get that revisionist history?
OK, ENOUGH with that BS.
1) GM and Chrysler both went bankrupt, but the government saw fit to pump money down the two rabbit holes first, they were going BK anyway, the Feds should have just let them, the result would have been the same except for the union handouts. Comnpanies go BK all the time and come out of it, look at EVERY major airlihne except Southwest. None needed the feds to come in and raid the cookie jar.
2) Ford is in debt up to its eyeballs, just like the other two of the big 3, they just maxed out their own credit as opposed to borrowing from the feds. They are in the same boat as GM. As a Ford stockholder, I can tell you that Fords books are not looking good and the stock price reflects that.
3) Toyota, Nissan, and many other car companies were bailed out like VW and BMW in Europe. This myth that GM and Chrysler were the only ones is the worst form of denial.
4) The US Government DID aid Ford, and FOREIGN car comapnies to the tune of BILLIONS
http://jalopnik.com/5704575/ford-bmw-toyota-took-secret-government-money
reddev -
Obama decided that he wanted to run for President. If he did now know what was going on, that is his fault, no one else's - he should have realized what he was getting into. It's not 'revisionist' at all!
Too bad that he isn't man enough to own up to his mistakes!
More on how the US government helped Ford and IS HELPING Ford.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB20001424052748703589404575417491742322262.html
Please stop with the Ford didnt get any help from the Feds crap, because its just that, crap.
Tammy - too bad the GOP isn't honest enough to admit they did everything they could to make this President a failure and destroy the country. Oh wait - that DID leak out didn't it. Too bad you're not woman enough to admit the GOP has NOTHING running that is capable of leadership - just a "but it's my turn" candidate who frankly doesn't give a da*n about this country. Too bad you're to dumb to see you're being used and the GOP doesn't care about you or any other woman.
Obama/biden 2012 because the GOP is destroying the United States!
It is this tea party ultra conservative movement such as Alan West of Florida that is impossible to work with, they wanted strict Austerity legislation but was unwilling to accept their party is the one who shoved 2 unfunded wars down the throat of the American Public and decade long tax breaks that created a larger deficit and then put the whole blame game on the Democrats
The economy sank to the deepest recession and outright depression in several areas of the country starting in 2007, thanks to a absent domestic policy for 8 years of George Bush, so basically Obama is stuck using Rooseveltian govt bailout techniques to keep this economic thing from crushing into chatastrophe and something should change in 3.5 years?????? This will take until 2014ish to recover.
Please outline for me Romney's plan to create 3 million jobs, I'm sure there not all fracking, well, you would have to hire thousands to clean up the nasty brine spills from the fracking procedure. I haven't heard of detailed job plan from Romney, what is it??????????/
Bush passed the auto bailout and in October before the election he summoned the McCain & Obama team if you can recall that far back, most Fox Republicans can't. Summoned them to the White House, with the proverbial " one of YOU will inherit this catastrophe, what shall we implement???So collectively what we have in the auto industry is an agreement, like overnite, stopping the DAM for breaking, DAMMIT!!!!!! Typical Republicanism, don't do anything to intervene in free market until our backs are against the wall and all hell is ready to break, then we'll blame it on the Democrats.
Obama is a typical lib. all they know how to do is raise taxes on the poor and middle class to pay off their cronies ie; solyndra. The next original idea he comes out with will be his first. Remember, Michelle doesn't go all the way down.
And yet, here the poor and middle class are, three years in his presidency with their taxes still lower than they were under George W. Bush and with Republicans demanding that people who are too poor to qualify to pay income tax must be taxed to finance another tax cut for rich people.
he cut your social security tax. Thats good so it goes bankrupt quicker. Almost half the people in this country pay no taxes.
Typical right wing freak job .. in one post claim Obama has raised taxes on the poor and middle class, then in the next post claim he cut taxes. Well, now, which is it?
For the record - Reagan goes down in the history books for the biggest tax hikes on the poor and middle class.
You are right terry and 20% of those make over $250,000 a year.
What are you talking about? We had the largest tax standard deduction for filing jointly then EVER this last tax season.
What I find humorous is that the President wants to continually ask what Republicans and Romney want to do about the economy, yet B.O. is the one in position to actually do something about it yet he seems to be out of ideas and or perfectly content with doing nothing.
Nick, he needs someone elses ideas because he has no clue. I shure wiched I culd tauk and be as eloquant a speeker as Obama. And when I puts my feet in my mouth I just choak on it.
Nick, I do believe the irony of the situation is not lost on the electorate, either. It is a clown show of incompetence. He was elected by white guilt. Y'all can throw your race cards now.
So congress does not have to try and fix the economy, and Mitt is running for POTUS you would think he would have put forth a plan. Oh Thats right all he needs to do is not be Obama and you rednecks will vote for him.
Robi...the plan is below. 87 page pdf. You are welcome.
http://www.mittromney.com/blogs/mitts-view/2011/09/believe-america-mitt-romneys-plan-jobs-and-economic-growth
John - that's almost funny. Clearly someone wrote it for Mitt since he isn't able to articulate one item on it! What a joke! You don't actually believe he even knows what is in this 87 pages, do you? That's funny.
Mitt is a joke and you're falling all over yourself to buy his lies. Talk about dumb and dumber!
Obama/Biden because the insane run the GOP!
Govt' worker? Seeking, I'll put you down as a maybe?
OBAMA 2012
SIDEWAYS
John-2032532 - put me down as "not a chance in he*l"! Got it! Not a chance I'd vote for Mitt!
It seems like talking points, I did not really see anything that will bolster the economy.
If corp america is holding record profits what in the hell will reducing their tax rate to 25% do. It seems like they need to hire and a tax break does nothing for that. People hire when their taxes are high because they would rather have more workers and pay them than pay taxes on their bottom line.
More free trade agreements you do know that this is why outsourcing is so lucritive don't you? I would never vote for a Repub again anyway but this seems like blah blah blah. How is he going to get education back up while all of his repub govs are getting rid of teachers?
Nice job MSNBC, put it on the front page "after" the clarification.
What a yo yo. This man gives new meaning to the word imbecile meaning Obama. That is for all you believing Obamites out there. Hope and change alright.
2008: Yes We Can
2012: Well We Tried
2012- Mitt Robme & Paul (Robin hood in Reverse) Ryan
Actually if folks would stop and look at the piles of money sittin on the sidelines that business has. Look at the stock market and where its at. The private verses the public sector, the private sector is much better shape. All state and federal jobs are the ones under seige and basically what Obama said is true. Read it any way you want, doesn't change the facts. The economy is suffering cause business won't invest and the government is running out of options to prop up the jobs markets.
It isn't the government's role to prop up the jobs market. And businesses will begin to spend when they have a demand that they cannot meet with their current resources. Believe it or not, a business doesn't exist to create jobs. They exist to make a profit by delivering a good or service that people want or need.
Businesses won't invest in the climate Obama has created. Why would they? All he does is threaten to raise their taxes and increase the amount of bureaucracy and overhead in their businesses. They have plenty of capital, but they won't extend because in this climate, over-extension = extinction. Better to save, stockpile, and survive than take any risk under this administration. That's what liberals don't get.
So because the private sector has more money the the public sector, the private is doing fine? Not that hard when the public sector is over $15,000,000,000,000.00 in debt.
So GO USA, whose job is it to stop the economy from failure when the private business fail to produce jobs? It has ALWAYS been the governments role, get a clue. What do you think stimulus means? Money is returned to projects and tax payers to spend and stimulate the economy so business will take the steps to continue, something that has not happened.
The climate Obama created spiral, what a laugh. Last time I looked it was a climate Bush created. Corporate America does not pay more taxes than foreign, period. They already have plenty of loopholes and this is a matter of record. What we need is consumers with money. People don't have money to spend having piss poor jobs business creates these days.
Government has nothing that it doesn't first take or borrow from someone else. It is not the government's role to pick winners and losers. As for the meaning of "stimulus," apparently these days the word means paying back those who helped get one elected to office.
Gee, I don't know about you but I think every other tax payer in America got a 600 USD check for 2008. Then every tax payer got a reduction in their tax liability for 2010 as well. Maybe your one of those that don't pay taxes. Quit with the union stimulus bs. Corporate America like the Koch brothers are not only interested in gutting wages and their responsibilities to employees, they also now are attacking government and public employees and blaming everyone else for their greed. When is enough profit enough. Apparently as long as the sheeple keep believing these guys care about them and the government is the big bad over indulgent communistic entity.
We pay plenty in taxes, both at the local, state, and federal level. We have never gotten to count our daughter as a deduction because apparently she is less equal than the children of those who earn less. Because we are married, we will be penalized under Obama's plan of not increasing taxes on individuals who earn less than $200,000 but couples who earn less than $250,000. Surely, you realize that that isn't fair, don't you? Why wouldn't the limit be couples earning less than $400,000 unless Obama truly believes that it is the government's role to decide who is be stolen from to give to those holding out their hands?
GoUSA,
You finally found the truth! So why blame Obama for not creating jobs fast enough? I don't think Romney can create jobs either unless there is demand for the services and good produced by the private sector. However, by cutting public sector jobs ad not adding to them (eg creating jobs in the construction industry to improve our roads and bridges, police, teachers) we are worsening the situation.
Sorry USA, had to go to work. I don't do this stuff at work as I believe that it is my company's time and they are paying me for attention to making them money... Anyways ...Sounds to me like you should be blaming the Congressional House Republicans for not changing the tax laws, not Obama. That is where these laws are written.
Obama can ask for changes in policy and law, but it still originates in the house and being it is controlled by Republicans it's their show at the moment. The marriage tax penalty affects lots of us including me, at all levels of income and it isn't fair. Considering how much the Republicans harp about marriage and what the deffinitons should be they outta put something into their rhetoric and do the right thing in helping those that are married instead of those that live togther and file seperately.
If you look at the deficit spending chart by president, you can clearly see the Reagan/Bush & Bush 'W' administrations got us to where we are today: http://zfacts.com/p/318.html
And I am to trust this site as "fair and balanced"?
Kristen, one cannot deny that the Reagan/Bush & Bush 'W' administrations got a lot of deficit spending on the books but you must realize that if you are in a hole the best way to get out would be to stop digging, not dig the hole deeper than anyone ever imagined the hole could be! Obama and the democrat controlled Congress, up to 2010, just kept digging and digging and digging the hole deeper!
The constant banter from liberals is to blame, blame, blame without ever having the guts and brains to fix the problems! Just repeating the same statements over and over again don't, and won't make them be correct or accurate!
The Obama and the democrats seem to look like they do not know what they are doing or why they are doing it! Their actions are about as valuable as it would have been for the crew of the Titanic to rearrange the deck chairs after they had hit the iceberg!
Never ceases to amaze me - when republicans create massive deficits with no plan for repayment, conservatives love life. When democrats create deficits with repayment plans, conservatives spend billions of bitch-bytes complaining.
Big Horn, The congress was not controlled by Democrats until 2010. This is another one of those Republican talking points thats a myth.
To have control the Senate has to have 60 Senators of one party for a "super majority", otherwise the other party just filabusters. The Democrats had this super majority for 6 weeks..
Coleman the Republican got beat by Al Franken 2008 and it took months for manual recount and court obstruction of voters wishes for him to admit defeat and seat Franken. Remember? That gave the Democrats 60 votes. Then Kennedy got too sick to attend 6 weeks later. Good bye super majority hello Republican filabustering, to everything possible.
-- Harry S. Truman
It's an easy formula, use the friendly tax cut rheotic, blame entitlements for over spending, and then pile up lots of debt by the billions in "star wars program" "a gigantic naval fleet with limited strategic envolvement now" "stealth bombers sitting on tarmacs" 2 gigantic unfunded wars, 10 years of tax breaks, a massive debt. Then have your pretty boy Republican Paul Ryan come out and say the largest culprit to our debt is entitlements, the same crap excuse given by Ronald freakin Reagan. Same song and dance, nothing has changed. Make sure you make SSN age 80, before we can use it, so we can die before we use any of it.
Mr Obama, the Congress would like to shut down the EPA and remove Holder from Justice. The Congress would like to repeal Obamacare. The Congress would like to reform entitlement programs. The Congress would like to have you get out of the way. You can't lead and you can't follow as your last 3 years have shown. So get out of the way - resign!
Please don't mistake what Congress wants to do with what right-wing Tea Party freaks want to do. They are not one in the same.
Jamie, you conservatives are very confused. Not only do you not understand how government works, you can't even follow current events and you can't read beyond one phrase at a time.
Do you really want Biden in his place??!!
Shut the EPA down so that the over 1 million gallons of brine used in fracking that sterilized 28 acres of land in North Dakota for the next 500 years can be reported as 12,800 gallons of brine. Of course that's what the oil company based in Texas reported.
didn't obamas job bill get stopped by the gop controlled house? it would have created jobs. the gop retards ignore this fact.
just like the first round of shovel ready jobs?
slow learners democrats
I agree. Running against Congress, the US Constitution and capitalism is a sure fire way to lose.
why would romney be a better president? obama is not great but no one will be. instead of name calling, we should be finding issues that are agreed upon and put away the labels. "libs" "conservatives" how about american?
JoeXWSXX3 yes that happened and they were fighting the president on a completely partisan basis. so he fails. that is no way to govern.
Rep. Paul Ryan presented many domestic drilling and fracking bills to create jobs that were shut down by the Senate, what he didn't say that his family owns mineral and oil rights in those areas and would stand to become filthy rich if the job bills were passed. They won't share that on FAUX, only that the Democratic contolled Senate stopped the bill.
after the jobs report...
i mean... who's writing his speeches.
it's insane.
even if it is... no one thinks a jobless recovery is good.
O, fire your speech and angle guys
Gotta love how the media, especially MSNBC cover for Obama.
"The president's initial remarks were intended to portray the relative weakness in public sector hiring -- an outgrowth of spending cuts at the federal, state and local level -- versus the private sector. The drop off in public employment has been a drag on the overall employment picture; the economy added just 69,000 jobs last month, a number that was so low, in part, because of anemic public sector hiring."
Noooo, the president SAID "the private sector is doing fine". Did he really think he could get away with saying that just to further his cause? And like we really need more public sector hiring, more hiring of people who produce nothing, who suck more out of our economy through taxpayer paid pensions and benefits? This guy is really a piece of work along with his liberal media! Out of touch is an understatement!
People it’s a fool who forms opinions basedon political ideologies instead of facts. Fact is the only thing that addressed a depression or recession is federal spending. During the recession, it was massive spending during WW2. During Reagan's recession, he doubled the budget and the debt via defense spending. People these are facts. Problem is we didn’t spend enough money to stimulate growth as this recession is much worse than the one Reagan was dealing with, and Obama has not doubled the budget nor the debt.
What you fail to realize is that those public sector jobs create other jobs as #1 75% of our economy is consumer based and state and federal 401Ks are invested in stocks and bonds in private businesses. When you lay those people off, you not only decrease their job rolls but the job rolls of many other people along with potential capital from their pension plans. It has a ripple effect. Those so called Rich job creators you think are going to save this economy for the past 25 years have increasing moved their equity/capital to developing nations. Where do you think China got all that money to build those new factories? While State and Local Pension Plans invested here in the US.
Next, look at Europe with its recent austerity measures (budget cuts) which resulted in soaring double
digit unemployment over 20% in some countries and double dip recession or zero growth in most. Let me add that in this Global economy Europe, our biggest trading partner, bad decisions and economic practices are a major hindrance to our economic growth.
You can't change facts. Puzzles the heck out of me that people are so focused on proving their ideologies
right instead of focusing on what is best and historical fact even to the point of harming this country. Folks stop thinking via ideologies and emotions and look at the facts. Of course, as usual, bless your hearts, you will try to bend them or shape them to fit your ideologies, but facts are facts. Unbelievable.
Pamela_612874, said:
"...Obama has not doubled the budget nor the debt."
Pamela, you are correct.

Funny how his campaign slogan is "Forward" when all he does is back-peddle.
lol
Look on the internet for the history of the Political Slogans around the world using the word "Forward". It is a common political slogan of Communist Parties such as Italy, Germany, Cuba and Hungray. Since Obama AKA Soetoro has already been endorsed by the US Communists Party for over a year now for the 2012 election, using the poltical slogan is fitting for the Media Elite's Annoited One
You mean like the teabaggers shouts of "jobs, jobs, jobs" but instead all they've tried to pass are social issues stuck inside <quote> Budget Bills </quote>
you realize the House has passed 17 jobs bills since 2010. All of them have been frozen on Harry Reid's desk. He refuses to allow the Senate to HEAR them, much less vote on them. That is pure obstructionism, and it's wholly unAmerican. If you want to understand why Republicans are angry, it's because NONE of their ideas are allowed to see the light of day, and NONE are allowed to be heard and at minimum voted down. Democrats don't want to vote on them because if they do, they'll be voting against job creating measures, at the same time proving that republicans are doing a lot more than just 'obstructing' as dems put it. We would all do well to get a firmer grasp on the big picture.
It is "bend forward-we are not done yet!"
Speaking of campaign slogans that suck, Romney's "Believe In America" is laughable beyond belief. That guy has lied so many times, you can't believe any thing he says. And oh .. what he really means is "Believe in Vulture Capitalism".
SIDEWAYS
OBAMA 2012
And MSNBC's slogan is Lean Forward. Coincidence?
"A conservative is a man with two perfectly good legs, who, however, has never learned to walk.... A liberal is a man who uses his legs and his hands at the behest of his head."
-- Franklin D. Roosevelt
"The Republicans … will try to make people believe that everything the Government has done for the country is socialism. They will go to the people and say: "Did you see that social security check you received the other day—you thought that was good for you, didn't you? That's just too bad! That's nothing in the world but socialism. Did you see that new flood control dam the Government is building over there for the protection of your property? Sorry—that's awful socialism! That new hospital that they are building is socialism. Price supports, more socialism for the farmers! Minimum wage laws? Socialism for labor! Socialism is bad for you, my friend. Everybody knows that. And here you are, with your new car, and your home, and better opportunities for the kids, and a television set—you are just surrounded by socialism! Now the Republicans say, 'That's a terrible thing, my friend, and the only way out of this sinkhole of socialism is to vote for the Republican ticket.'"
-- Harry S. Truman
FDR started many social Programs, Social Security is the main one. People pay into the plan, but take our more then they put into, so others have to put into the plan to pay for the one receiving the payments. You know like a Ponzy scheme. As long as more people pay into it it is fine, but the minute that stops the plan starts to unravel. While it is true people pay into it for over 30 years, in less then 3 they have removed all their money. and are recieving others money. It would be different if it were teated like a 401K system. Medicade is the same way. You useage of the vehicle is differnet most wage earners saved or financed their vehicles, so ther are no socialism there, unless it is for govenment subsadised green vehicles. The Constitution is the blue print on how the government is susposed to conduct itself, and what it is susposed to spend its tax revenue on. Military, yes, treaties, yes, interstate commerice, yes, but I do not see Social Security in there. Nor medicade, or food stamps. The federal govenment is not protecting the borders, but printing food stamps. They are taking over state run education, (why do they have a deparment of education? Look at Europe, how well they are doing. We are not far behind them. Unfortunately there is no one to bail us out.
Given the choice between Obama and Romney there is no choice. Obama/Biden 2012!
Any Economy would tend not to do fine with an Usurper Taxaholic/Spendaholic illegally occupying the Oval Office
Kurt's comments - illegally occupying the Oval Office? Have you lost your mind? Yes, of course you have! You're a Republican - sorry I asked.
Absolutely not an ounce of sanity to be found in the GOP!
SeekingSanity, Considering our Founding Fathers took the definition (source) of Natural Born Citizen from Law of Nations (1758) when they ratified the US Constitution in 1787. Yes, Obama AKA Soetoro is illegally occupying the Oval Office per the Supreme Law of the Land, the US Constitution, as intended by our Founding Fathers.
Kurt... Your tin foil hat has either worn out or bent at the wrong angle. Please re-adjust it...
Ninja, is that all you got? Just name calling and insults? Just because you can not defend on the issues, does not mean you have to resort to insults. Check independently yourself on the Law of Nations (1758), the source for our Founding Fathers for the definition of Natural Born Citizen, then come back with a comment. Stick with the issue of the one who made the comment rather than just resort to name calling and insults.
Kurt - you're totally insane but, if you believe that then Romney cannot be President! Uh oh - screwed that up didn't ya? Idiot!
There isn't an ounce of sanity in the Gross Old Pervert party as Kurt clearly shows!
Obama/Biden 2012
Seeking Sanity,
I see the birthers have shown up for their afternoon break.....
Kurt, Just explain to me exactly how Obama is illegally occupying the White house? I'm really inerested in hearing this one.
GT, as noted, The source of the term "Natural Born Citizen" used in the US Constitution was taken from the Law of Nations (1758) which states a Natural Born Citizen is a child born to two (BOTH) parents who are ALREADY citizens at the time of the birth of the child. Since per Obama's own Autobiography (Caveat, ghostwritten by Pentagon Bombing Domestic Terrorist, Bill Ayers), the father is someone who NEVER was a US Citizen, "President" Obama can never be a Natural Born Citizen no matter where he was born. This is NOT a Republican/Democratic issue, this is a Constitutional Issue as the SAME would apply to Rubio if he is selected to be a VP candidate as his parents were not yet US Citizens at the time of Rubio's birth. Biden and Romney parent's were US Citizen at time of Biden's and Romney's births respectively making them Natural Born Citizen no matter what one thinks of Biden or Romney
Kurt - I can't even comment on that one. Oh Brother! You don't need to adjust your tinfoil hat. You need to adjust your meds, Dude!
If you believe our Founding Fathers took the term "Natural Born Citizen" from another source other than the Law of Nations (1758), then feel free to comment. Just a little 18th Century History research would do it
Oops - who let the birthers out? Trump must have let one of his lap dogs loose on his computer.
Uhm, RedDevPS, just insults, without stating what you believe the source of Natural Born Citizen came from when our Founding Fathers were ratifying the US Constitution in 1787. I guess it is much easier to insult than doing 18th Century History research.
Kurt - it's amazing but every constitutional lawyer disagrees with you (why doesn't that surprise me) Only one of the parents has to be a US Citizen but, if you knew anything about the Constitution, you would know that. You're totally insane. Go visit Trump - he'll love you!
The source of the phrase "natural born citizen " and whether it means both parents are citizens is irrelevant since Obama was born in Hawaii.
The Supreme COurt (you know, the guys the constitution says should interpret the constitution) ruled in Lynch v. Clarke :
Kurt, from a Congressional committee in 2011:
In case you can't read and understand long paragraphs, note in particular the phrase "either by being born “in” the United States and under its jurisdiction, even those born to alien parents"
Conservatives go on and on about the constitution and how certain things are right and others are not. They cannot even comprehend the basics.
fielden - they don't WANT to comprehend the basics!
I have to agree, Obama is no different than an anchor baby even if his father was not a citizen, he was born to an American Mother on American soil. And even if he was not born here, he is our President so the point irrelevant. Yes, there are some discrepancies in his autobiography but that is not relevant anymore. What is relevant is his record and how it supports his agenda vs the peoples agenda. That is all that matters here. Has he kept his promises or has he bent more than he should have to "keep" portions of promises, is he the man you want to represent you during a war, is he capable of leaving our freedoms intact and protecting all our freedoms at the same time? These are the important issues, not his citizenship. Not anymore!! As a repub I am sick of hearing about the citizen argument and want to worry more about his failed policies and attempts to infringe upon our freedoms. No more "is he legal", please, stop beating a dead horse! Bush was a citizen and he helped get us into this mess, just like Clinton, so it does not matter. Being a legal citizen does not guarantee you can do the job, all it means is you are able to try. And Americans voted to let him try, so by popular vote he is our president and we made him legal by our vote.
Period!!!
Sorry about your period, Texasgal. Obama has shown he cannot do the job, that is why he is toast in November.
Hawaii: We‘ve Officially Verified Obama’s Birth Certificate for AZ Sec. of State
The state of Hawaii has verified President Barack Obama‘s birth records to Arizona’s elections chief after a nearly three-month back and forth that Arizona officials said could have ended without the incumbent’s name on its November ballot.
Joshua Wisch, special assistant to Hawaii Attorney General David Louie, told The Associated Press in an email late Tuesday that the matter is resolved after Hawaii gave Arizona the verification it was looking for.
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/hawaii-weve-officially-verified-obamas-birth-certificate-for-az-sec-of-state/
dasvet, yeah, periods do sucks but they are necessary for conversations. I agree that he has failed and proven himself incapable of working with the hard nosed politicians he promised he could work with. It's a sad day when you can not keep your promises but insist on blaming others for broken promises, we haven't even gotten an apology yet. " I'm sorry, I can not work with the republicans even though I said I could. My Bad!"
TEXAS--BUL_____ Obama has done a fine job despite the absence of the Republicans who HAVE VOWED TO DO EVERYTHING TO MAKE OBAMA FAIL. They are not interested in seeing the U.S.A. move forward under his leadership. They run this country into the ground and now someone who took control and brought this country back from the brinks of depression, you say hasn't done his job.. AGAIN-YOUR COMMENTS -BULL____. He hasn't brought us back to prosperity yet but we are on the road . You can't build a skyscraper in a month and you can't bring a country back from near depression in the first term. It's just not possible with a WORLD in almost total economic disaster, Agent Orange Boehner has called his troops in ,in the House , and they're biggest concern is their golf scores. The Republican party has become the laughing stock of the world and they can't see the forrest for the trees. All they care about is tax cuts and less regulation so they can pay back their owners for all the money the campaign contributions. They don't care about anyone but the 1 %. President Obama has done a great job despite the absence of the Republicans.
Whos out of touch? The one who gets a daily briefing on the status of the United states and has been working for the last 4 yrs on the economy of someone living off of investments?
60's- so you think Obama has handled our illegals problem adequately? You think he has handled our debt adequately? You think he was correct when he called Bush unpatriotic for spending so much money ? You feel that appropriate? Has he not spent more money is less time? Is Obama not condemning Texas and Arizona bc they are trying to protect the borders and the citizens of our nation? Has he not already proven that given vast amounts of money all he can do is ask for more?
You can say all you want that Obama saved this nation but was the stimulus HIS IDEA!!! Or is he taking credit for someone elses idea? Did he not promise to end the wars and bring our troops home? Did he not say that if we were not in a better position at the end of his first time that he was not fit to be re-elected?
You can see all the good he has done and totally blind yourself to all the lies and twisted rhetoric. If that helps you stay sane then be my guest. If you like Obama so much then electing Romney instead should be no problem with bc neither one will do what needs doing. You just go right on ahead and keep paying for Obamas vacations while he blames you for your lack of self control in spending. The Demos you love so much and the repubs you despise are one and the same and none of them will do a darn thing for you no matter how much you believe in them. So you just keep on waiting for the hope and change, as a veteran you will get to watch your grandchildren and great grand children die to "protect" other nations from themselves while we sink into despair and hatred of each other over here. Hope the rule of the plutocracy makes you happy!!! Neither of these men would die for you and neither one has attempted it by serving. They know NOTHING about real honest to god sacrifice and you bow to them as your overlords!!! Bow to Obama, just keep on bowing!!! throw stones at Romney bc he WANTS the attention, so make him happy!!!
PODperson- Who has no clue how many illegals I live around, who has no clue how many jobs they have taken? Who has no clue what it is taking to defend our borders from drug cartels? That would be the man who according you is briefed on this everyday, so now I ask, why are these things ignored by him? So he is not clueless, he just doesn't give a hoot. And if you start chirping in with Obama being the best deportation President EVER, how about you come camp on the border and try to get a construction job, a road job, a cleaning job, a lawn job or even a job working the ranches. Then once you have tried and failed multiple times, we will see just how nice it is to ignored by the great Obama!! And then only reason you have to hate Roney is bc he has investments to live off of? Wow, so bc he made decent choices and put his money in the right places, he is a bad guy. I guess my grandfather living off his army pension and oil stock investments is an EVIL MAN!!!???
I am sick and tired of the great Obama and the great Romney!!! You keep Obama in office or you let Romney in and you will see the greatest and fastest decline of an economy in this planets history. How much will it take in debt for you to say enough is enough, what if in the next 2.5 years Obama raises our debt to $20 trillion, then $22 trillion and all he keeps saying is you have to spend, spend, spend. Statistically speaking he should be into another war by then, so how much leeway will you give him then to spend? $25 trillion? Romney will do the exact same thing!!!
If neither one of you can debate from both sides of the boat, do not bother debating!!! I am a conservative and can bash Romney all day long, are you both so attached to Obama that you see no wrong in anything he has done? You see no wrong in drones flying over your homes, or being told you have to purchase a product which they will not control the price of, you see no wrong in trying to tell other nations what they can and can not do or in what they can or can not have, while we do as we please? Are you really so caught up in the Utopian idea that you really think medical cost will decrease when EVERYONE has a BACK UP payer called insurance!!!?? LOL, greedy people raised the cost and greedy people will keep raising the cost bc now YOU MUST PAY IT!!!
SeekingSanity, speaking in universal terms again are we...every Constitutional Lawyer...I don't think so...you mean to tell me that there is not one Constitutional lawyer (and I don't mean senior adjunct lecturer) would disagree with your statement? Again, foolish is the man who speaks in terms of universals or proclaims himself an expert...
Illegal flow into the US is at a negative so yes!!
