@ Concern Citizen, Perhaps you did not understand what was suggested. No one asked Candidate Mitt Romney to liquidate. It was suggested that the assest would be held in a Federally recognized TRUST. It would be unfair to ask anyone not invest in things that are worthwhile investing. However, it is important that officials should not have impropriety or undue influences from their investments.

In this particular case, candidate Mitt Romney has large sum of returns from Baines of which he claimed that he is not involved management wise with? It doesn't seem to be that big of a deal right? Of course it is like following orders which Mitt Romney will not subject himself to. HOWEVER it is clear what the Democratic Campaign is aiming at... The insincerity of the the Republican's suggestion of becoming more transparent (making the books more transparent such as in business).

Shocking that Obama can do anything like demand Romney do something with his PERSONAL FINANCES, what with shear numbers of fundraisers he's had. This past March, the Washington Post reported that Obama already had more fundraisers than Regan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Bush COMBINED. I think this is nothing but a smoke screen. Romney doesn't have to have any of his assets in a blind trust at this point, but he does have all U.S. interests in one right now. What Obama is saying is "I don't want you to have access to this money too".

I say, if Romney wants to use the his money to win the presidency, let him. He actually did use some money in 2008, but stopped spending because he could see Huckabee not dropping out. As with "the Gambler" You've got to know when to hold them, know when to fold them, Know when to walk away, know when to run. 2012 doesn't happen if he doesn't fold and walk away in 2008.

As far as the money in the foreign accounts. It's trapped there. Yeah, you read right. He invested oversees, made a large profit and paid the taxes on it demanded by those foreign entities. If he brings the money into the US it will be only half of what it is outside the country.

He, like Apple, is far better off to keep the money in the foreign markets invested at the full amount than to lose half or more of it to the entities of jurisdiction here in the US.

When we have reasonable tax laws, the money will return, and we will quit starving.

Romney still has a boat-load of cash from Bain and obviously Bain is helping the Romney campaign with contributions to the PAC (at least we assume so from the circumstantial evidence available to us-thank you citizens united) so I think there could still be a huge conflict of interest.

2. "... free education for all..." This is only partial true, because our country already advocate free education through high school. There are talks to include Pre-school, because there are studies that indicate kids who attended pre-school have a tendency to go to College. There is absolutely ZERO truth toward FREE EDUCATION. If that is true then college debt would not be one the largest debt currently held by American population.
3. "... the cultural war Rich against poor..." How do you define this cultural war? First of all, cultrally speaking we are all Americans or American immigrants. Culturals are generally defined by religiton, nationality, race or color but not economics. Money is not an culture. Money is material possession. So it is very far fetched if there is a war incited by the current government. If there is a cultral war, please specify which race is fighting who? Wealthy is always fending off the less wealthy... THIS IS NORMAL! This is simplest form of motivation of gaining material wealth. This is what capitalism is all about! Don't tell me, you're against capitalism or upward mobility.

If you speak of abortion right and so on, then may I remind you that our law of land is to be free from religious idiology and pressure. Can't help but notice that your post has only questions in it. Anyone can ask ?'s, but it takes actual WORK to find answers so clearly, you're not a Workin Man! You've had at least 5 yrs to get hold of those pesky documents that most anyone can get so.........what's the hold up on your fact-finding skills? His money is not hidden. Just because he has an offshore account does not mean that his money is hidden. If you understand how business works, he has investors that are investing his money in off shore accounts and all the $ are accounted for. If you have issues with investors transferring money offshore, maybe you should write to your current President and ask him to make conditions for investments more competitive so investors do not feel the need to transfer their rescources off shore!! You know, like maybe lowering corporate tax rates since ours are the largest in the world, eliminating regulations, etc.... Get my drift??

Willard is worth several hundred millions, a far cry from Obama's wealth. I have no doubt that after leaving office he will become wealthier but I seriously doubt he'll have anywhere near the kind of money Romney has.

I don't know if stashing less than 5% of your wealth makes you a weasel. There is also a big difference between not revealing all the tax returns you want (he has released some) and illegal business practices like White water alleges.

I agree, the left seems fixated on Romney's wealth. We all know he is rich, so what does that have to do with anything. You want to discuss Romney's experience or leadership fine, but the left tried that and got their butts kicked. One would think the lefties would be trying to sell Obama's political accomplishments, but then when you can't do that you attack your opponents personal wealth and life.

Sorry.....It isn't fair that people work hard, make good decisions, and get rewarded. Everyone should get the same. They shouldn't have valedictorians because it isn't fair that some people are smarter.

MARKUS: And I hope you and the rest of the Right are aware that it has been customery for over 50 years for presidential candidates to release ALL of their financial records. Willard's father, a guy who had far more integrity than his son, released a dozen years of his finances. And given that he is vastly wealthier than any president in recent memory, it makes it all the more significant.

Since he is running on his "business expertise" we want to see exactly what it is he has done. I personally don't feel comfortable with candidates who have millions in offshore accounts.

And just for the record bud, there have been numerous Democrats who have been very wealthy. FDR was very much to the manner born, and of course JFK and Teddy Kennedy. Where they differ from the far Right is that these rich people actually were capable of empathizing with the common guy and sought through their polices to make like better for the working man and not just the uber rich at the very top of the food chain. The only thing the GOP wants to do is make the world safer for corporate America and give more tax cuts to the rich, er, um, forgive me, I meant to say the "Job Creators". You know, those people that if we would just get "Big Government" off their backs, cut "job killing" regulations and give them bigger tax cuts, all would be well with the world. Well, it's been 11 years now of the Bush tax cuts and I'm still waiting for all that "trickle down" to show itself.

It has also been customary to release all their university records as well. I would also be that they didn't release their information until after they were nominated.

To see this, look no further than what your party has done to Unions. They are successfully demonzied cops, school teachers, and sanitation workers. It's their fault, along with the freeloading "Welfare Queens" that have dragged our economy down. Not the fact cat bankers and Wall Street crowd who walked away with countless millions after screwing every working person in this country.

It's pretty silly of you to constantly stick up for the rich. I can promise you that they are doing just fine. They have their army of lobbyists over on K Street who are buying the votes of all the GOP congresspeople to get the legislation that will benefit themselves personally. Please, shed not a tear for them. Somehow, the rich will muddle through.

I know that they are doing just fine and it is the fault of the bankers and the greedy people who thought to get rich quick flipping houses. It was also the fault of the government for giving banks incentives to give questionable loans and not not enforcing regulations like they should.

It was not the fault of the public unions. The problem with the public unions is that they have been promised an unsustainable retirement and benefit package. They also earn a higher compensation package now than people in the private sector.

It isn't that I stick up for the rich. I put the blame in different places. I don't blame the rich for using the tax shelters, I blame congress for distorting the tax code and subsidizing their ventures. That is why we want small government to stop that cronyism. (Not sure where they are sticking it to the little guy).

Hey Intrepid - it's becoming quite tiresome reading your B.S. regarding Romney and the release of his tax records, he's released his records for 2010 and he said we will see his return for 2011 in the future, but will be paying about $6.2m for the two years. Not to mention the $7m plus he gave to charity... 16% of his 2 yr income. We all know he is worth a lot of money and who cares where he invests it...as long as it is legal, it's his money, so shut your pie hole.

And where the hell were you when that male gold digging presidential candidate, John "Lurch" Kerry was running for office. At least Romney earned his own money, Lurch had to marry it. In 2004, before the election, Kerry released just one return for 2003 and it was not a complete return. He and his wife released portions of their separate tax returns that showed they paid an effective federal tax rate of about 13% on $5.5 million in income from 2003, an effective rate lower than Romney's for 2010. But I guess back then it was O.K. to release just one return with an effective rate of 13%. Bottom line....your class warfare crap has become old and lame...just like the ideas of the Democrat party.
