With the labor movement reeling from the result of Tuesday's recall election in Wisconsin, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka sought to downplay the significance of Gov. Scott Walker's victory over a union-driven effort to unseat him.
Trumka, the leader of one of the nation's largest labor groups, dismissed the notion that unions might look back upon their unsuccessful campaign against Walker with regret.
"We didn't decide on this recall. It was the workers in Wisconsin and the voters in Wisconsin who did," he said on a conference call with reporters. "Hell, I don't know if we'd do anything differently."
First Thoughts: Walker wins and labor loses
The AFL-CIO president highlighted instead two mitigating factors from Tuesday's recall, in which Walker beat out Democratic opponent Tom Barrett by 7 percentage points.
Trumka pointed to Walker's sizable advantage in spending between his own campaign and allies who flooded the airwaves in Wisconsin. Trumka also stressed the recall of a Republican state senator, which flipped control of that chamber from Republicans to Democrats.
"This isn't the crystal ball that predicts the future; this is a very unique circumstance," he said.
The AFL-CIO also circulated a poll of union members who voted on Tuesday that reflected strong support for collective bargaining rights and generally stingy opposition to Walker.
Trumka noted — to his chagrin — that much of the debate during the closing weeks of the Walker-Barrett campaign had shifted away from the initial debate over organized labor.
The whole effort to recall Walker was prompted by the governor's pursuit of a controversial state law stripping public sector workers of that privilege.
Walker emerges victorious in Wisconsin recall
Wednesday's call was just the opening wave of postmortems associated with the recall, and the effort by groups with a stake in the race to spin (favorably or unfavorably) the outcome.
One of the biggest open questions for proponents of the recall will be whether President Barack Obama could have done more to aid the Barrett campaign.
"I think there's probably some mixed feelings," Trumka acknowledged of Obama's distance from the race, noting also that he wasn't interested in second-guessing the president's participation.

I have no regrets!
Democrats now control the WI Senate.
Walker & his cronies had to spend obscene amounts of money for him to keep his J-O-B!
President Obama is up over Willard by 7 points...
The best part is... little Scotty is looking at indictment!
All & all I would say it was a pretty good day for progressives! ;o)
Fired Up & Ready to GO - Obama/Biden 2012
How about Chuck Todd's/MSNBC's regrets over their horrid interpretation of exit data?
I have seen Todd's tweets this a.m. - dude is in heavy denial.
Of course this is the very same exit polling that shows Obama leading over Romney. Of course that polling had the Walker race 'too close to call.'
So do the math [hat tip - nojo]. Polls wrong by a full seven points. Now apply that to Obama's supposed lead.
Nice, right?
If nothing else, this recall election should go to serve as a notice to all elected representatives. People across this country will never again sit by idle and allow them to get away with things as they have in the past.
Good morning Feisty, and yes I've have no regrets either. I never vote against my best interests.
Is that right nomoresameo?
Cause Walker won by 7 last time, and lo and behold, why 7 again.
Reforms, and promises of deficit reduction are the hot thing-y.
So where O's revised budget?
Shoot, what's Reid up to these days?
The 'divide and conquer' strategy worked so very well for the TeaPeople who were backed Koch/Rove $$$$. It worked so well against the party formerly known as Republican...The TeaPeople divided and conquered the Republican Party.......
They will stop at nothing!....Divide and Conquer...non-union against union; private workers against public workers; private schools against public schools; right to life against right to chose........1% against 99%!..and of course the ever present race baiting!
Pay attention 'cause the TeaPeople won't stop with their Divide and Conquer.
Now why would Trumka have regrets?
Dude pulls down $500k per year.
A 100% 1%-er, that one.
All paid for by union dues. How fitting.
All I can say is, if the main stream media showed Walker too close to call, while other polling companies had him up by 7, I'll listen to the other polling companies that show Obama down over Romney. They are way more accurate. Let the lefty libs follow the main stream media. I'll watch their tears flow in November.
So as I recall O called Putin and Hollande after their big wins.
I presume, seeing how he is President to all, he's going to give Walker a call today?
Or does he not have time, what with his 5 fundraisers today?
GOP and the corporations are out to stamp out unions, the voice of the people.
And get rid of voting rights.
That is their strategy for bringing workers to heel, dropping wages to un-sustainable levels, and taking away safety nets for ordinary people.
At the same time, they aim to put folks into leadership positions that are rotten to the core.
BrianB - just ask our very own Dominico and his boss Chuck Todd - the exit polls that they created were 'weighted incorrectly.'
So begs the question - who weighted them wrong?
Could it be the very same people who created the questions?
Why I just bet it is.
Even a political monkey like me, could figure out two weeks ago Walker would win by 7.
You'd think these super smart professional reporters and pundits could at least get with in 5 points.
Guess not.
Chilled - Divide and conquer, eh? Nicely put. It's about time someone cut through the liberal agenda. I'm getting damn tired of liberals telling everyone what they can do with their money, their time and their lives. I won't rest until liberals become insignificant and knocked back down to the dirt where they belong. I'm starting to enjoy the success of the conservatives in winning against the uncompromising liberals. The 2010 movement continues!
Hard to believe.......but it's true....Scott Walker said it while talking to a Billionnaire donor!
In case you don't like huffpost, it's all over the web stuff.........
Good for you fiesty the Tea Party fed you a s*&t sandwitch and you liked it. You know what they say give it to fiesty she'll eat anything. Oh you are going to be soo happy you are going to get a whole platter of s*&t sandwitches come November. BaWaaaaaaaaaHaHaHaHaHa
I think he discovered Dick Cheney's bunker and can't find the exit. Has there been a more ineffective <sarcasm>"leader"</sarcasm> in living memory.
Backhouse.
Not only are they trying to stamp out unions and suppress voter rights they will be doing much more if people across the country don't stop them.
They will be trying to overturn Roe vs Wade
They will try to start a war against Pakistan if Romney is elected
They will attempt to eliminate any form of government health care including as many restrictions/eliminations of existing Medicare/Medicaid aid as possible.
They will attempt to increase the retirement age to at least 67
They will try to eliminate Social Security
They will increase oil exploration and do nothing to increase research for alternative fuel sources
They will increase tax benefits for the top 1% and cut as many tax breaks for all others
These are just a few of the things that the GNOPTP will try to do if elected.
Is this what you want?
In the 1950s, nearly 40% of Americans belonged to a union, or were covered by union negotiated contracts. Today, only 12% of Americans belong to a union. Meanwhile, wages and benefits of the average worker have declined over the same time period, while the wealthiest Americans have gotten richer, even during the Recession.
Corporate profits are at historic highs, even as they cut wages and benefits.
But Gov. Walker has "won" the right to keep middleclass incomes down while passing the tax "savings" onto to the super rich. Enjoy your brave new world, Wisconsin-ites.

Spanky - I've been watching a few real polling companies concerning Obama... and they have Romney up over Obama, even 5 months out. It's still within the margin of error, but for all the bluster the main stream media makes over Obama, and these liberals on this board, they'd have you believe he was a shoe in and Romney should just drop out of the race. That's the only way Obama will get a second term.
Interesting how confused the Libs were last night as the real vote returns showed Walker crushing Barrett, but the Libs couldn't stop going back to their "Exit polls". Those are the same polls that elected John Kerry president too.
Hiya Backhouse!
Who was in charge of Germany the last time unions were busted...?
Little guy - messed up mustache... ring a bell?
JoAnnaSmith1
Interesting how confused the Libs were last night as the real vote returns showed Walker crushing Barrett, but the Libs couldn't stop going back to their "Exit polls". Those are the same polls that elected John Kerry president too.
Joanna, don't get too excited, the (as you call) libs now control the state senate. lets see what he can get through now. also the mistake that was made last night, was running a guy against him that lost to him less than 2 years ago. at least this time the vote was closer.
the true out come of this is that walker must come to center now because he will not get though his kroch brother agenda any more.
times are going to get hard for him.
Just for the record, I'm not in a union and never will be, i work for a union shop plumbing shop in new york and i have alot of respect for SKILLED UNION plumbers, carpenters, pipe fitters, sprinkler fitters, and masons.
good luck to walker when he runs for re-election and skilled union will support bozo before this goof. this is his mistake don't piss off unions because they will get him back. so far he lost the state senate.
How many voters rights were suppressed in Wisconsin last night? Do you even have one name? Did the DOJ ever comment on the "validity" and the "legality" of the vote, you know, seeing they were there as "observers"?
And can you tell us Jeff when that state senate will be back in session again? Here's a hint: Not until after the November elections. Lots can change by that point Jeff, especailly after the pounding the Democrats took last night.
nomoresamo - What are you talking about? They had their chance to stop them yesterday and failed. Sorry to inform you, but you are on the wrong side of national sentiment. People are getting very tired of your kind of crap and they are standing up to it... Start with 2010... if you think that sentiment is over, you are only deluding yourself. This was only a continuation of the last election and if you don't believe it, wait until November. Liberal/progressives are going to be getting the boot all over the place... starting in the White House.
Uh...if media outlets like MSNBC and CNN had such horrible exit poll data then it occurs to me that the GOP cheerleading squad at FOX News would have called the election a whole lot sooner than everyone else.
They didn't.
Now, why would that be?
Hey Girlfriend I hope you are feeling better this morning. I remember when I use to work in Hackensak, New Jersey for Faberge and was a shop-Stuart for the AFLCIO. Totally different Union back then. Now they are just into Politics. What sore losers.
On another note, I saw that Bev declare herself and her friends LIBERALS. Does that mean they are to the left of the Democratic party? In other words extremist. I did not know, lol really.
All & all I would say it was a pretty good day for progressives! ;o)
___________________________________________________
Nasty DumbFux: A few more "good" days like that, and the SC will have struck down Barry's ClunkerCare HCR, upheld the AZ immigration law, the Republican's will have increased their majority in the House by 40-50, have a 70 vote super-majority in the Senate and you will be cursing out President Romney 1,000 times a day.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JoAnnaSmith1
And can you tell us Jeff when that state senate will be back in session again? Here's a hint: Not until after the November elections. Lots can change by that point Jeff, especailly after the pounding the Democrats took last night.
hey babe, what pounding are you talking about. walker won by less than he did last year, and again the last time a GOP won that state in the presidental race was ronald reagan, even through the i'm make every body scared movement of bush in 04 did not produce a GOP win. so we will see.
last but not least, if you want romney to win in november, tell congress and the senate to stop attacking women in the work place and the bodys.
It was no open question for Obama. He abandoned labor in its hour of need. Obama's silence speaks volumes about his loyalty to his most loyal constituency. Loyalty is a one-way street in Obamaville. He'd sell the rest of the country down the drain for a few votes too.
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL,
"All & all I would say it was a pretty good day for progressives! ;o)"
You know it wasn't.
Next time, try to listen to other people, not just to yourself.
And Amy what was the productive capacity of Europe in 1950's? Was there as much competition for American goods and services as there is today? What about China and the other other BRIC countries?
Will you stop using a historical scenario that is irrelevant to today's world? How about I use the example of the Soviet Union where they had 100% union membership and the country went bankrupt. Would that be relevant?
Why don't you stop pasting talking points and think for yourself?
O come on now, Feisty; Obama's 7 point lead over Romney came from the same exit polls that told us that the recall vote was "too close to call" last night....you know the vote where Walker was a mere 7 points ahead. Dream on, girl.
Victory for the good guys!
...well, yes, certainly, if that argument makes you feel better then, by all means, knock yourself out.
...or maybe, perhaps, the reason President Obama didn't actively campaign on behalf of Mayor Barrett is because there was nothing for the President to win in this recall election. It was all risk, no reward...a state he won by 14 points in 2008 and no gain for his campaign if Barrett wins but plenty to lose if he does campaign and Barrett loses.

The democrats control the senate? LOL!!!!!!!!! The legislative session doesn't even start until January 2013!
Ok, let's interject some honesty here:
IF the recall were to have succeeded the unions, progressives, etc. would be banging the drum of "we have the power, we proved it!" I've heard interviews with noted "progressives" today saying that the recall didn't really matter, that it was a sad loss for the people, that the loss was all due to out of state support money for Walker, etc.
Yesterday we heard a LOT about the DOJ being in state to protect voter's rights, that the unions were busing in groups from other states to vote, and in the press it was all being spun as extremely close. Ummm, not too close. Today it's all wow was that a close vote (7% is a huge win- btw, whereas the press said if it was 3-5% win it would be considered a reasonable result). They were prepping to loose and not show the egg on their faces.
Trumka, please. The ACLU and SEIU sent busses of people to WI at the start of this, spending millions to make a scene. You think it was evil Walker out-of-state money that won this? How about all of that upfront money by the unions that lead to the recall at all? Did that have an impact?
nomoresameo -
1a) Yes, the same way the Democrats try to stamp out corporate donataions. It's two sides of the same coin.
1b) Oh, please. I've had to show ID to vote since I started in 1992. I believe Connecticut counts as a blue state, right?
2) Yes, the Republicans are *so* interested in getting rid of Roe v. Wade (a decision made by a majority conservative court, btw) that they haven't overturned it in... 40 years. This is about a big a possibility as the Democrats taking away the Right to Bear Arms.
3) War with Pakistan? WHY? They're at least marginally on our side. No, the smart money is on Iran or (at a much lower possibility) North Korea if they deteriorate to the point where they're going to invade the South anyway.
4) Yes, the Republicans are *so* interested in getting rid of Medicare/Medicade (a program signed into existance in 1965 and expanded in 1972) that they haven't tried to stop it in... 40 years. Now, would a GOP-controlled Congress kill "Obamacare"? Heck yes. But don't make it sound like they're going to just ax a huge program down to zero.
5) Um... you might be interested to know that's already been done. The retirement age is 67 for everyone born after 31 December 1959, and was raised in... 1983. At the time, the Democrats had 63% of the House and 46% of the Senate so it was a bi-partisan change.
6) Eliminate Social Security? Why, would they like to slit their wrists wide open and never get elected ever again? Old people vote. Neither party will *ever* kill SS.
7) Yes, and oil exploration is a good thing, as that's what the economy runs on. As for killing alternatives, you might want to Google the "Energy Policy Act of 2005".
8) There is no such a thing as a tax benefit, unless you're getting money back. Now, if you mean they'll cut taxes for the 1%, what of it? The "bottom 75%" not only pay no taxes but most actually get money FROM the government. Heck, the "1%" pay more in taxes than the bottom "95%"!
Can you please explain to me why someone should pay a bigger percentage just because they're successful? 15% of 10 million is a lot more than 15% of 100,000 or even 10,000! The problem with the current tax code is that the middle class (~67k-300k or so) get taxed way more than the lower class, and the percentages don't increase at all above 300k.
But I do agree: there needs to be a fairness if this system is going to continue. IMO, taxation should begin a twice the poverty rate (currently for 1 person @ $10,890, so in my example $21,780) at 5%. From there, there should be another level at 4 times poverty ($43,560) at 10%, 8 times (87,120) at 15% and so on. That way, once one hits 32 times poverty ($348,480) we're at 25%, and at 128 times poverty ($1,393,920) we're at 35%. This would be fairer than the current system, where until one earns $66,193 they pay just about nothing.
The interesting thing? This change would raise taxes on those at 32 times poverty 1% from the current code, but those above it at considerably more, and it would scale. You made $22,302,720 last year? Good for you! Congrats, you're 2048 times the poverty rate. Please pay 55%. It would also ensure that it's fair as only the truly destitute wouldn't pay taxes.
Don't believe my numbers? Check it out at: http://taxfoundation.org/article_ns/summary-2009-federal-individual-income-tax-data
If this scale is adjusted for inflation -- as opposed to the abomidable AMT-- it would never be outdated. Well, I do admit there is a flaw you've probably thought of by now: if you made 1,048,576 times poverty ($11,418,992,640) theoretically you're at 100% taxation. Well yes, but as there were only 1,379,822 tax payers above 343k last year, and given that the highest reported income (that I could find) was 2.8 Billion in 2008, one is pretty safe to say it's an unlikely situation at best.
Of course, this would only be for personal income. Businesses would need a much lower rate to compete (and, heck, make payroll!).
Let's see...who has created division in this country?
blacks vs whites
hispanics vs blacks
white vs hispanics
haves vs have-nots
workers vs drones
union vs nonunion
rich vs poor
middle class vs everybody else
Christians vs Muslims
atheists vs all religions
All of this was brought to you courtesy of the great block organizer and his political party: Barack Hussein Obama.
Do we really want another four years of this kind of garbage? Can we handle another four years of this kind of garbage? Or do we need to get serious about taking care of the problems?
If politicians were serious about fixing our problems, you would see a lot less finger pointing and hear a lot more about specific solutions to specific problems.
I personally don't think I can handle another four years of "hope and change" without hoping for a change in November. If there is no new "hope," I may have to "change" by dying, which would save a lot of Social Security and Medicare dollars.
nomoresameo
Wow! Considering you claim to be a student or alumni from Stanford...you sure are a dumbazz!
What else would you expect from someone that is probably majoring in political science?
Trumpka should resign, he essentially turned this entire affair into a war with the GOP, a war that they will lose since they dont have a leg to stand on. Walker was in the right, not even Federal employees have collective bargaining and the state was losing millions if not billions over the public unions medical insurance scam.
What really gets me, is Trumpka doesnt even represent public employees, why not focus on getting your members something above min wage for once?? Since AFL-CIO members cant seem to make above 10 dollars a hr..
Why the hell is there not a DOWN vote on these threads??! Some of you 'conservatives' are down-right deluded!
Still havent gotten over your spanking yesterday eh? No worries the libs are doing all they can to undermine Walkers power, while he is offering them brats and beer. making them look even more childish and spoiled in the eyes of the average voter. Keep it up and Walker will be running for president, before long..
Da Noid -
...or maybe, perhaps, the reason President Obama didn't actively campaign on behalf of Mayor Barrett is because there was nothing for the President to win in this recall election. It was all risk, no reward...a state he won by 14 points in 2008 and no gain for his campaign if Barrett wins but plenty to lose if he does campaign and Barrett loses.
Really, so President Obama will only back you if he has something to gain by doing so? That's a "Leader"? You are admitting to that? Do you live your life that way - "Well I'll help you but what is in it ME? HS - if that is your definition of a leader/friend, I would hate to see your defintion of an enemy!
Of course he wouldn't do anything differently, that's all Unions do is browbeat and threaten people. When you take away those tools, they don't know what to do. Well, i guess they can still slap people, like that women who slapped Tom Barrettt last night.
NOBAMA 2012!
.
AtomAnt,
He is a politician isn't he. Identify one politician that does what is right for the people, and not themselves or their party, and I will show you an ex-politician
Too bad the Wisconsin senate isn't in session and there will be another election before they convene. Big victory there for the dems! (BTW, I learned that watching MSNBC TV tonight)....
Little Guy messed up mustache, I'm laughing with you fiesty not at you. I think a tooth brush mustache is just what Herr Walker needs to complete his look. Great news that Democrats now control the Wisconsin Senate.
Unions have taken a BRAVE STAND, and educated more people along the way -
it's an education, more voters understand the real issue now than before.
Having won WI in 2008 by 14 points, seeing his victory margin halved 5 months out from the election is cause for elation on Obama's and democrat's part? One would think not, but it's probably okay with the opposition if they keep whistling past the graveyard.
There is definitely pain and regret, but the liberals just won't publicly admit it, just as they secretly regret that they did not select Hillary as the nominee in 2008. They are positive Walker would go down. We heard it for months as Walker's approval rating decline. How can they not have regret? That's like going into the Super Bowl as the favored and ending up losing in a romp, and then trying to mask the disappointment by saying we didn't expect to win anyway. Face it. You libs got your legs cut out from under you Tuesday and you're saying it didn't hurt. LOL
Walker did not survive the recall unscathed R.W. The democratic majority in the Wisconsin senate are enough of a victory for me. Walker is going to be defanged R.W. I can hardly wait. To bad Walker cannot be neutered too.
What is so amusing is how ignorant some people are about history. FDR abolished unions right here in the good ol' US of A. Yup, fact. He didn't have a moustache either.
Wade - And are you positive that not a single one will lose in November? Just from Walker's momentum alone, it would be unusual. Throw in the other recent failed attempts to swing the balance, I wouldn't be too optimistic.
Look at the calendar... the only open floor periods that the Dem majority will have before the 2012 election is from 13-22 September & 18 Oct - 3 November. http://legis.wisconsin.gov/Pages/session.aspx
I don't see what they could even hope to accomplish in so short a time. I admit I don't know Wisconsin's rules for overturning a Governor's veto, but I'd think that would take time too, right?
Mark The GOP in congress scores much lower then O'bama in the gallup polls. There is a 1 in 3 chance the GOP will lose control of the U.S. House, and odds are the Democrats will retain control of the senate. If Romney should win by some miracle odds are better that Nancy Pelosi will be speaker of the house again. Had the GOP kept it's word and focused on job creation, then the GOP would be certain to win big. Instead the GOP has focused it's political on voter suppression, abolishing abortion and prescription birth control, and the suppression of rights for women and minorities. The 1 in 3 chance I speak of was cited by Beohner? himself. I not only think the Democrats will retain control of the Wisconsin senate, they will go on to take veto proof majorities in both houses. The GOP wasted it's shot at control with culture wars and will pay for it's willful arrogance in November.
Oh and Feisty, you silly duck - the Wisc. does not meet again until NEXT YEAR.
SO tell us again what the dems control.
Libbies - just too ignorant to understand how bad they got run last night.
" dismissed the notion that unions might look back upon their unsuccessful campaign against Walker with regret... Hell, I don't know if we'd do anything differently"
Was anyone really expecting Unions or Democrats to learn anything?
Kennedy's seat - lost.
2010 midterms - largest party flip since WWII.
Wisconsin election - lost.
Wisconsin recall - lost.
November 2012 - next loss.
What a great day for those of us that don't belong (nor want to belong) to a union.
Wrong again Spank -
Many of us throughout the nation realize just how badly we got bought last night....
and we plan to have a cake baked for Rove, Norquist, the Kochs, Limbaugh, Cantor, and you other RWNJ's when November arrives.
Thanks for the heads up =
I am reciprocating with this post....
You know - "word to the wise" and all that.
There is an incredible amount of head-in-the-sand available today, starting with the very first post. I had a liberal friend actually bet me that the Dems would gain seats in the house in 2010. It's almost criminal for me to take his money anymore . . . .
Yes, undoubtedly a proud moment for the fools who are handing over our country to one-party (Republican) rule. You'll find it very enlightening when and if the Repugs manage to control White House, both houses of Congress, etc. because when that happens Americans will no longer be allowed to elect any politicians because the real Republican love is for dictatorship and rule of the wealthy over the many, which in some other countries is known as oligarchy. Though I doubt any of you Repugs know how to spell that, much less know what it means. If you are not of the 1 percent, you will have some hard days ahead if this country turns over our government to Republican ideologists. Hello, fascism and good bye middle class and any other class except the rich and the poor. Nobody in between. The truth hurts and you people haven't a clue and won't until it's too late.
But Spanky, that wasn't an indicator for the national elections! Although just a few days ago wasserman-schultz (sp?) indicated just the opposite! Silly liberals, paychecks are for workers! And "workin", keep on taking that money! It's probably one of the very few occasions where social justice is truly served!!! Have a great day, you silly liberals!
Why should unions have any regrets about the recall? Less than 10 pct of our workforce are represented by a union.
The Republican - TEA Party - conservatives - want to portray this as a victory against unions? If that is the case, how did unions force a recall in the first place?
Nope, this was a middle class election. I saw a number of the ads - Barrett did not speak to the middle class. That is the positive outcome - the middle class is regaining a voice in politics.
Any campaign that ignores the middle class - fails to address middle class issues and values - are going to have difficulty winning elections.
Wedge issues are losing their appeal.
The middle class is going to participate - is going to vote - is going to be heard.
It is only a matter of time ...
workin hard -- I remember rightwingers doing the same thing in 2008. Some still think President Obama will be impeached for being an illegal alien. Hahahaha!
NPCDan -- Explain how Wisconsin has voted for a Democratic president in previous elections, and is considered leaning blue with President Obama still having a lead there, yet how Walker managed to remain in office but somehow this is an indicator for the rest of the nation? You shouldn't listen to Stinky, he is just a troll.
Whatever lead Obumer has or doesn't have as of today, he can kiss it goooooodby once Nov. rolls around. There will be two more big losers then, the US Senate seat currently held by Herb Kohl (D) will flip republican, and of course, Obumer himself will lose by Uuummm 7%! Why you ask? Failure after failure by democrats will result in major fatigue, they are sick of backing loser after loser, all but the rock bottom base will be all to happy to sit this one out. And for good reason, why should they care when their own POS POTUS could only muster a Tweet to Tom Barrett, how utterly lame, shameful, just plain chicken $hit. As for conservatives, we're just getting started. Many posters have correctly stated, the WI senate is out untill 1/13. The state was redistricted and many formerly "safe" democrat districts are now very vulnerable, expect to lose your short won gain, before you can even capitalize on it. Wow does that suck or what. I'm calling it now Romney wins Wisconsin!
It's not that hard to force a recall election. You get a few thousand people to stand at Walmart and other places, collecting signatures. You don't care if they're valid signatures or if people sign different forms in different locations multiple times. All you care about is getting a HUGE number of people. Illegal aliens, college students, out of town visitors, felons, it doesn't matter if they're registered to vote, well it DOES MATTER, but not for Democrats.
You present 900,000 signatures, the opponent has NO WAY to dispute the validity of all the signatures, many of which might be fraudulent. The Board of Election does some random sample, then schedules an election. Your opponent decides to give up trying to dispute the signatures, since it's almost impossible, so they focus on the upcoming campaign.
Then you cause the State to spend millions of dollars that could spent on teaches, firemen, police, the elderly, children, special needs people, to have a recall election because of pure petulance. Good job Public Sector Unions!
This is strike three for the Unions in Wisconsin.
1) failed to recall any judges
2) failed to recall walker
3) wasted millions of dollars
NOBAMA 2012!
.
Well I guess it's time for the OBAMMY supporterds to start practicing their breaking and entering skills after the Nov 2012 election. I'm sure they will be trying to show their support for Obammy by breaking shop windows and stealing electronics, groceries, whatever isn't nailed down. Wow, we'd better start building more jails cause they sho are gonna be full!! Hail to the chief....
Feisty is also apparently psyched about the exit polls that showed Obama 7 points up on Romney.
These are the same exit polls that had Walker and Barrett tied at 50/50 and too close to call.
In actuality Walker beat Barrett by 7 points, indicating a significant Democratic bias in the results, even if it isn't a full 7 points *I acknowledge some Democrats voted for Walker because the did not think the recall proper for the Union abused political reasons since Walker committed no actual misconduct deserving of it*.
If Wisconsin which is usually a reliable Blue State in Presidential politics really has Obama and Romney that close, maybe tied, maybe within a couple points after adjusting for the exit poll bias, then Democrats should be very concerned already if they are willing not to delude themselves. This doesn't necessarily mean a huge loss is impending for them, but it could be indicative of major problems for the Obama campaign brewing.
Hahaha, rightwingers are giving credit to Walker for the stock market -- Like the global economy is affected by one little twit in Wisconsin (who is now toast for the rest of his term). Get real, the rally is due to replacing austerity with a growth plan.
JPM77 -- First the record at Bain Capital, then the record as governor of Massachusetts, and so on, and then the debates... and what ever you do, don't look at the electoral college or do any math.
Wow, Trumka has no regrets over spending MILLIONS of dollars of Union Workers dues/fees for a frivuolous "recall" election.
Time for the Union Workers and the OWS protesters to march on Trumka's multi-million dollar home.
Meanwhile, back to the Democrats Poster Child, Mr. Clinton, and Mr. Obama's Wisconsin FLYOVER.
"The truth is that the Wisconsin recall campaign was a farce from beginning to end. Its sole purpose was to sabotage the struggle against the Walker administration by blocking any independent mobilization of the working class and diverting the energy of workers and young people into the safe channels of the Democratic Party—a party just as committed to the defense of corporate interests as the Republicans."
Republican governor wins recall election in Wisconsin
By Patrick Martin
6 June 2012
"…The entire recall campaign was a fraud, since the Democratic Party supported the cuts in wages and benefits for state and local government workers, objecting only to Walker’s exclusion of the unions from participation in the process of determining what would be cut.
Barrett, who won the Democratic primary and became the party’s candidate in the June 5 vote, had actually made extensive use of Walker’s anti-worker law to impose $19 million in wage and benefit cuts on city employees in Milwaukee. The Democratic candidate largely downplayed the issue of collective bargaining rights and sought to distance himself from the unions, boasting in one debate that he had not been their choice for the nomination.
In the last week before the vote it was widely reported in the press that the Democrats had decided to drop the issue of Walker’s anti-worker measures. Typical was the June 4 report in Politico.com under the headline “Wisconsin Dems Sidestep Labor Debate in Recall.” The article stated: “On the eve of the June 5 recall election, the issue of collective bargaining has become just a footnote in the hard-fought battle for Wisconsin. Democrats gloss over the issue in campaign speeches, political advertisements and debates…”
The national Democratic Party opposed the recall effort, refusing either funds or active campaign support for Barrett until the last week, when there was a flurry of appearances by national Democrats like former president Clinton. This was largely an attempt to disguise the deliberate torpedoing of the campaign.
President Obama never made an appearance in Wisconsin during the recall campaign and barely disguised his hostility to the anti-Walker effort. Last week he attended a fundraiser in Minneapolis and then flew across Wisconsin to another fundraiser in Chicago without bothering to set foot in the state.
Liberal apologists for Obama and the Democrats, like the Nation magazine and MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, complained that the Republicans and their billionaire backers raised vast sums for pro-Walker advertising and outspent the Democrats by a margin of 30 to one. Such comments are a deliberate cover-up of the reality that the Democrats had no desire to win and mounted only a token effort…"

FR, just as an update to your rants - the public sector unions spent over 25 million in the recall attempt in Wisconsin, which failed...they also spent over 42 million in Ohio where a similiar effort was passed...talk about obscene money...the good news is that is $67 million that will not go to Obama, and now the unions will be required to repay those loans...wonder where they are going to get the money, since they are a non-revenue producing organization and taking dues money to support a political agenda is illegal.
Thanks TJM - the Dems whine about the money that was spent for Walker but I don't see them complaining about the DNC withdrawing funding for Barrett. They aren't complaining loudly about Obama not appearing to support him. They knew they were in trouble and decided to save their resources. The GOP knew they could win this election and went after it.
Don, it is amazing how a person could get everything in their post wrong. Oh except for the $30 to $1 ratio of Walker to Barret money. The ones who will be whining are the working people of Wisconsin. Rich Repubs don't spend that kind of money without expecting a huge payback. Somebody got to pay.
Trumka needs to go back again and look at the 36% of union households that voted, casting their ballots for Walker. This is a real big problem for Wisconsin unions. I don't care if you think recalls are good or not you don't cast a vote for the person who is taking away unions rights to bargain. This happened in 2010 and now. Something is very wrong somewhere. Questions need to be asked do these union households really believe that Walker has their best interest? If so, what do they think Walker will do for them? Is there some kind of specail treatment these union households are getting or maybe these union households are so conservative that they will vote against their best interest just to vote against a demorat which is nuts. Republican are right now bashing unions and in fact Romney's main political adviser in Florida says that unions are done. Union members should think long and hard about who has their back and it isn't Walker and his cronies.
Hey Rilli - as long as you continue with the attitude that it's unions against everyone else, you will continue to lose, unions will continue to lose and as many people that can drop out of unions will. Self interests do not help our major problem - government overspending. Walker balanced the budget, didn't lose a single job, but people like you simply don't care about that. In your mind, he touched the sacred cow... he ended collective bargaining for government union employees, like that really hurt the unions. Union people are nothing but spoiled brats that need to be taken out to the woodshed.
Is there some kind of specail treatment these union households are getting. Oh rilli, yeah they are union households of course they are getting special treatment the taxpayers are paying for them to have better retirement and healthcare than taxpayer has themself, and it is coming to a stop.
He's not supposed to have the union households best interests at heart. He is supposed to have the whole of Wisconsin's interests at heart. Not one party, or constituent, or race, or class but everyone and that is what he is doing. You can opine all you wish about what he may do that is so awful, but up to now he is doing exactly what he promosed he would do and the voters appear to agree.
I guess if they voted for Walker they should be thrown out of the union?
Looks like the union is being thrown out of the people so accomplishes the same. Those crafty unions planned this all along.
The unions absolutely out-smarted themselves, doubling down on stupid. This gives every forward thinking mayor and governor the inevitable green light to roll back bloated city and state funded benefit packages.
Unfortunately, you deserve who you choose to run your country. Unfortunately, many of us would never vote for thelikes of Walker or any other Republican. We have to suffer along with all the other nitwits in the majority, I fear, who are stupid, andtotaly ignorant. The combination is a killer.
Yep, the smashing of unions was all a successful conspiracy by Big Labor. I fyou belonged to a union and voted for Walker, you just voted yourself out of a union and into the wage slaves known as haviing "the right to work." That's like the Southern states that notoriouosly paid such poor wages that they were also non-union states, that is until all of the manufacturing and textile jobs went to othercountries. Southern states like North Carolina were and are "right to work" states, meaning no unions allowed and bosses pay whatever the hell the want and there is no such thing as collective bargaining rights, or in the final analysis, no bargaining rights whatsover on the part of the worker or prospective employee, only those rights the big boss decides you have. Which, consideringn our late stagae capitalist society, is probably zero, zilch. one day they may even abolish pay and amend the U.S. constitution to once again allow slavery. That's the ideal society of the current Repug "thinkers," if you can call these knee jerk crappers that.
Rilli,
Maybe they are able to think for themselves and come to a reasonable decision, instead of believing the union leaders and the half truths they try to pass as fact. If you think the union has your best interest in mind, look up their LM-2 reports. Only the union is benefitting.
Lil' Debbie,
I'm no expert on unions or labor laws, but you have mischaracterized 'right to work' states. You said that in these states there are "no unions allowed", but that's not true. The company I work for has unionized factories in several 'right to work' states. As I understand it, there's no law against unions, but unions cannot force workers to join the union. The unions still negotiate wages and benefits, but all workers including non-union members get the same package. It sounds to me like you've got a problem with anyone who chooses not to support unions. I don't think anyone should be forced to join and pay dues to an organization against their free will because that seems very un-American to me!
Naturally it all comes down to campaign spending.... who stopped spending a few weeks ago? It appears to me the democrats decided they were going to lose and pulled all the stops. Why, even Obama didn't even show the courtesy of stopping in the state when he was right next door.
The tides are turning as far as the way voters are seeing the agenda and are not going to allow it. Labor unions are no longer untouchable.
How does this bode for Obama in November? All I can say is it's not 2008 and Wednesday shows a dramatic shift in the way people are thinking. I know democrats want to forget about the 2010 midterms but the tide is still rolling and it appears liberal causes are going to be hurt the most. It's about time they are too. Enough is enough! Can't wait for the Supreme Court's decision on Obamacare.
Why does everyone assume the Wisconsin voter is too stupid to make up his own mind based on the information and instead puts every political win down to spending? Walker didn't outspend his opponent; the voters decided he was the better choice at this moment in time.
That said, this isn't predictive on what may happen in Nov. Wisconsin is a special case, a referendum on one man's fiscal policy, not a verdict on the nation's economy. Neither side has cause to be smug just yet.
Look at this way: the Democrats realize nationally that Obama is a loser and are distancing themselves from him and his failed policies and rhetoric.
Obama is desparately distancing himself from all of those millstones that could have been around his neck: Democrats that are losing elections, putting losers up against winners, and generally losing the backing of the principle group of people that have money to spend (the unions, regardless of where or how they got the money).
Walker had this election in the bag. Hence, no help from the national candidate or the RNC. Barrett was a loser from the getgo, so no help from anyone except the bellyaching union hacks.
If Democrats are smart (ha, ha, ha) and want to keep their jobs, they will turn their collective backs on Obama and run as far away as they can to avoid having him and his losing policies rub off on them. Let's see how many smart pols we have in the next five months.
You call the action of the Wisconsin voters thinking? I call it @!$%#ting all over their state and their fellow citizens by harkiing to the call of out of state big money from conservatives who have no interest whatsover in the welfare of American workers or any other Americans for that matter except for the wealthy 1 percent they pander to. all the crowing about the "tide turning" is hardly anything to rejoice about. Our country might as well get ready for another Civil War. The sides have been picked anad we might as well be shooting at each other all over again. But this time The Repug party will not be the noble party that freed the slaves. It will be the American Nazi Party by another name. Shame on all of you.
What else can Trumka say? He got slapped as hard as Barrett did by that disgruntled woman last night. (Liberals, always first with the violence.) Trumka is just the another union clown trying to put a pretty face on what was the end of the public unions last night. His power diminishing, he has to try and rally his troops, troops that are no longer bothering to follow him. Union membership fees have dropped by 50% or more since Wisconsin made it an option rather than a requirement, so you can see how much union members respected the "services" they were getting from their unions.
Trumka also has a score to settle with Obama. Obama was no help at all as he left one of his major constituencies be hung out to dry. Trumka isn't interested in "second guessing the presidents participation", but you just know behind closed doors he's furious with Obama.
THe real bitch for our man Trumka is Wisc. no longer compels payment of union dues.
Hard to pull down the fat stacks when the forced payments cease.
A main power base of the Democrats, the Unions, will be packing it in shortly. They have no way to force people to pay them anymore. That leaves the tree-huggers, the Johnny Edwards ambulance chasers, and the Holly-weird actors as the face of the Democratic party and the Obama fundraisers.
Spanky-
THe real bitch for our man Trumka is Wisc. no longer compels payment of union dues.
Hard to pull down the fat stacks when the forced payments cease
You are wrong.
The Bitch is Scott Walker who allowed 2 men, David & Charles Koch, pimp him out to prostitute all over this land selling America.
@JoAnnaSmurf!
A main power base of the Democrats, the Unions, will be packing it in shortly
Would you like to give your teacher's pension back?
Beverly - you're talking to the wall. Spanky has no problems prostituting himself if it gets him what he wants - he's made that clear by most of his posts. Selling of this country doesn't matter to Spanky - he's just fine with that. He's a typical far righter.
Obama/Biden 2012
It appears the teachers in your state, Illinois, already have. What, $90 billion in unfunded teacher pension obligations? Can't pay the pensions if your broke Bevvie. Good thing they raised taxes in Illinois, it didn't solve any problems, but it made the Libbies feel good, and that's what counts the most.
JAS1 its getting so desperate for union membership bev, amy and red may have to start dancing at the union halls for money. Not desperate for bev, amy or red desperate for the union because that is the only girls they can get. Wow where did that dollar go. roflmao. stale *popcorn* anyone.
Bev, I really can't take anyone seriously who gets paid to post someone elses viewpoint here. Do you get paind by the post, or is it a public union job and you just have to show up to be paid?
Joann Smith, you and all the witches who hate better than they love and just can't wait to see other people suffer and fail, rejoice while you still can. If you aren't one of the 1 percent you will soon regret the day you threw in your tiny little self to help this American Nazi Party by the name of Republican(s). All the gloating and smug comments froom the haters who so abound in our country today is disgusting and makes me want to ......not leave the country but deport the ones who don't deserve America. Soon they are going to be turning America into their own, ugly, hateful and totally destructive image unless american voters get a grip and finally educate themselves on something besides whether they like someone's looks or they like the way a particular party panders to their hatreds and bigotry.
Lil' Debbie: I'm not into partisan politics, but your post sounds just as hateful as any other I've read here, left or right. If you're going to bash others for their bigotry, etc., it would help if you sounded a little more civil yourself.
Yeah the violence, like bombing family planning centers, Oh sorry I forgot, the people who commit those atrocities have a direct line to Jeeesus. This country is going down the toilet, You repugs, just keep gloating, when you lose everything, and you will, we can all stand around the fire barrel, and chat about it, you know like in the depression days, only much worse, mor like Mad Max.
Choosing a candidate that did not ALREADY LOOSE once against the incumbent STILL hasn't crossed your mind? Really?
actually, Barrett was not the union's first choice to run against Walker. The Union backed Kathleen Falk.
And yet they still decided on Barett....who lost again....by the same margin...Isn't this kind of going back to "why would you try the same thing twice and expect a different outcome"?
96...in a 12 step program, talking about addiction, doing something continually and yet expecting something different to happen, it's the definition of "insanity!" please don't share this with Wisconsin dems...they'll get angry with the truth...and then they'll huddle to decide on starting Barrett's 2014 campaign for governor.
Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Obama spend how many hundreds of billions of dollars that we didn't have creating nothing but he still keeps wanting to do it again. This isn't sex; you can keep going back for that because it's fun. You can't keep spending money by the trillion and getting nothing for it. We are rapidly (already) running out of other people's money to spend. California is figuring that out and may bite the big one and seriously trying to fix their problems. Now if only the rest of the country could get it figured out.
Blah, blah, blah. Have your fun, you righties. Your own little lives must be really sick andn miserable to take such joy in the misfortunes of other people who have done nothing to hurt you. don't understand the viciousness of the typical Teapug who just slobbers to savor the democrats or the unions or whoever they dislike losing or getting breaten in an election. Really? Are you that threatened by someone who isn't just as vicious and hateful as you are? Afraid somebody's having fun and you aren't? Your ugly spirit shows in fact you can't conceal it if you tried. Put a sock in it and come up with something original once in awhile, but you probably can't. You are all useless except as pimps for the Koch brothers. Guess what? They aren't going to share their money with you. Get ready to be kicked to the curb if their ilk, they and Karl Rove, Grover Norquist and company get to impose Republican ideology on America.
Your posts are getting boring.
Little Debbie, the more TEA Partiers and right wingnuts mock and jeer without substance the better I like it. It means that they have NOTHING solid to offer. They better laugh it up while they can, it will be my turn to laugh when O'bama is reelected, and the Tea Party reps are shown the door after the democrats retake the house.
We didn't decide on this recall. It was the workers in Wisconsin and the voters in Wisconsin who did," he said on a conference call with reporters. "Hell, I don't know if we'd do anything differently."
Glad that was the case. You didn't decide on it, but you sure brought it forward. High time people are allowed to keep what they work so damn hard for. Keep your hands out of my pockets please.
Casreader, I doubt you worked a day in your miserable, stupid little life. Keep YOUR hands out of other people's pockets, that is, you and the Koch Brothers, Wall Street shysters and assorted Republicans ready and willing to make the middle class and poor pay the taxes that the wealthy ought to be paying to keep these unnecessary wars afloat.
uh, Lil' Debbie,
I would certainly like to keep my hands out of the public sector unions pockets - by NOT HAVING TO FUND THEIR OUTRAGEOUS BENEFIT PACKAGES with my tax dollars!
The people are finding out liberalism is a disease. The residents of Wisconsin decided a fiscal responsible Governor was the right choice the first time around. Union thugs blew lot's of hard working members dues. No wonder some of their pension plans are worthless.
Scott Walker is a pickpocket of the first order. Fiscallly responsible Governor? on the backs of public education and the middle class, plus bringing divisiveness of the first order to Wisconsin? Give me a break. You are delusional.
The unions need to get OWS up and running again. OWS was a great source of amusement.
Love to hear all the Liberal excuses...Walker spent more money, Koch brothers, tea party, cheaters, ect....did it ever occur to any of you that the majority in this Country think you are nuts? When Liberals win it is fair and when Consevatives win somebody cheated. Wow wake up, the next few months are going to be painful for you Liberals....
that[s because when criminals run for office and win an election it usually is because they cheat. Get over the gloating. Karma is going to come back on you one day when you least expect it.
The Koch brothers had to buy Scott Walker twice in two years. $27 million of mostly broadcast lies about his opponent and his own actual record are nothing to be proud of. Walkers next citizen vote may very well be by 12 citizens. Three cuddly felons from his past office and the ongoing corruption investigation have Walker lawyered up and asking for more donations. it remains to be seen what will come of Walker's under oath lie to Congress that was proven on video just two weeks ago. his next term may be decided by a judge.
Walker thanked God for his victory last night, perhaps because it says "In God we trust" on money.
Too bad you weren't saying all this crap when the UNIONS were buying the elections in Wisconsin Affinity. All it shows is that you are just another left wing whining hypocrite that lost because of the votes of MILLIONS of citizens, and not the millions of dollars that the UNIONS usually buy their elections with.
As for the rest, the usual political filth.
Where did all the vermin live in Wisconsin before this election or recall it was, brought them out of the woodwork? They need to go back under the rocks where they belong and leave the rest of us alone.
Do you get paid by the Post? Are you a union teacher off for the summer? Do you have a job? You sure seem to have a bunch of extra time on your hands. Look, your side lost. Get over it.
I'll post the same thing I posted on other articles: hahahahahahahahahhahahaha.. do you want it clearer Libs and Unions?
back at you, dummie.
That's all you have Debbie? Obviously the majority has spoken. You should respect that.. that's what we were told in 2008 remember? .. I love it... the White house is next btw.
Blow it out your ear Juan, why should we treat you with respect when you have none for us.
You even mis-read my comment.. I am not asking for YOUR respect.. I am asking for you to respect the vote of the people.. the majority.. that is what happened in Wisconsin and don't give me the "well, republicans spent 20 times more money then Democrats".... speaking for myself, and I hope most voters, I don't care how much candidates spend.... my vote is based on what I believe to be the best option for me.. not how much money they have.
I did not post this Juan, I'll post the same thing I posted on other articles: hahahahahahahahahhahahaha.. do you want it clearer Libs and Unions? You will reap what you give moderates and liberals, from me, Juan. Want to make your point? Then do it civilly or I WILL respond again and I will make the last time seem civil by comparison.
This article actually LIES. What was "stripped" when it came to collective bargaining was the unions on their pensions and Cadlillac health care plans. The right to collectively bargain for wages was NEVER taken away, and the unions still have it.
You're so right Cheryl, but these are just the facts and we all know what liberals/union thugs, etc. do with those!!!
Hey, Trumka, you and your union thugs lost. Spin it any way you want. The people spoke; its about time you listened!
Union and non-union people please don't fool yourselves into believing either political party gives a damn about you. The people don't hate unions what they do hate is when unions keep asking for more when there isn't more to give. And please don't believe that the union bosses give a damn about you either all they want is to keep lining their pockets with you hard earned money.
The union would rather have 10,000 teachers in the unemployment line than have their collective bullying abilities limited.
You are delusional. must be soomethiing in that foul Wisconsin air, Sammy Johns if that's your real name.
No, Lil Deb-he's absolutely RIGHT. Thank God that most folks in Wisconsin saw this for what it was and voted to Keep Walker in. There was no one out of a job, but half decided to drop their union dues (thanks to Walker, they had this option). Facts hurt don't they Debbie, but unlike opinions they CAN'T be changed.
You are both Wrong, Sharon, Sammy. Walker never said he would gut collective bargaining during his campaign. He also rejected concessions the public unions offered after they offered every thing he demanded. Fortunately Walker was muzzled after the Democrats took control of the Wisconsin Senate. Muzzled, lets see him get anything done now without the cooperation if the democrats.
Workers needed the unions in the 40's and 50's. Not now, however. Unions have become far more corrupt than the old time employers who used to abuse thyem.
I hope more government officials at all levels (Federal, State and municipal) will gain courage from the Walker Scenario. I am from Michigan and have worked at a grocery store thqat had the Retail Clerks Union. Very Sad. A guy with a $1.000 suit came by once a month and spent the engire visit yakking with the stor Manage and then wouold leave in a very fancy car. Never aproached the workers nor would make time to hear from them.
At AC Spark Plug (GM), I worked for 3 years on the production line. I saw numerous occassions where bored workers would sabotage and shut down production lines, thus costing the plant hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost production. Workers sleeping. Workers helping their buddies by clocking in thier payroll cards while the buddy was deer hunting. Drunk on the job and only a slap on the wriists over and over and over. On and on the stories go.
There is no sympathy for unions here. They are dinosaurs and need to slip into extinction.
Illegal drugs, prostitution,
"In the 1950s, nearly 40% of Americans belonged to a union, or were covered by union negotiated contracts. Today, only 12% of Americans belong to a unions"
Well, who forced out the 28%? Or did they drop out because they realized that the unions and union bosses and fees and dues were not really helping the worker? Just saying....
Nobody could be more corrupt than today's bosses, much less Wall Street, banks and others who would rather tank the economy than earn an honest dollar or restrain their greed.
Hey Lil' Debbie, instead of trying to convince folks that republicans are stupid, mean, etc. perhaps you should take a good, long look in the mirror. Perhaps you will at last try to comprehend (it means understand) what happened and why. Folks are tired of union thugs ordering them to pay for their Gold Plated pensions/healthcare when most folks Don't belong to unions or public sector unions. We have to pay for our own pensions/healthcare and we pay far more than you clowns do. 8% and 12% (my oh my you would have thought that Walker was asking for you to cough up 50% (some taxpayers pay that much), but hell you don't care as long as "you get yours". And you have the nerve to pontificate (lecture) us on how terrible it would be if republicans controlled everything. Well guess what little lady-the socialists/communists/dems controlled EVERYTHING (think 2008) and just what did that get us??? You don't want "right wing" control/dominion, well Debbie I don't want Stalinism/communism/nanny state government.

You are Sick Sharon, your hatred for moderation, and compassion, has twisted your mind. I have had all I can stand of your posts. Welcome to my ignore list. TEA Party Fascist. I will take Democratic communism any day over the deal the TEA Party has made with the devil.
Sharon you are great only in your mind.
"Hell, I don't know if we'd do anything differently," Napoleon remarked after the battle of Waterloo. "This isn't the crystal ball that predicts the future; this is a very unique circumstance."
I'm not saying that Obama is worried but I understand he is in the process of changing his last name to Kardashian and is getting a reality show on the OWN channel
His whole time has been a reality show. WAJ!
About time. Obama hasn't been involved with reality since moving into the White House. Maybe after he moves out in January and joins his unemployed.
Wisconsin Taxpayers 3
Greedy Union Thugs 0
Go Wisconsin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only thing I have to sell is my labor.I wasn't good at school so I've done workind class work my whole life.Security in state institutions, construction, oil field, mainly water/wastewater treatment. It's mostly outside work with the hot sun and the cold wind.If you had any protective equipment you mostly had to provide it yourself, the company wasn't going to look after you,you had to do that yourself.A 40 hour week was a joke. You worked as long as they wanted you to,when they wanted you to or they would find a way to get rid of you.If the work played out they tried to screw you out of unemployment if They could.Iv'e been buried, burned and have chemical emphysema from chlorine gas.I never fooled with workman's comp much because i was afraid it would be held against me.I've seen men killed on the job.
You hear all the time about the business man having a rough time and I've seen guys go belly up.Some were friends, some were people I worked for, some were both, but they were pretty small outfits. It seems to me that the people that realy run this country don't ever lose much. When they sometimes stab each other in the back they pretty well got the system rigged the way they want it with bought off politicans, and armies of lawyers.
I want an organization that represents me,represents my intrests to the powerfull.Unions are going out,the bosses are gettinging more demanding, medical is paying less and charging more.Pay ain't keeping up.My son lives with me because his 40 hour job doesn't pay him enough to live on his own.
Working people need to get together in this country and reinvent something to represent ourselves.I don't care what your religon is,who you sleep with as long as it ain't animals or kids.I want to unite on economic issues and working conditions, hours and safety. If the Democrats or Republicans want to support on that basis ,fine.I don't trust either party as far as i can throw them, but I know good people in both.
To you college boys who would work for the summer and then try to iecture us like retarded children. We had no respect for you then and less now.You might be able to work 12-14 hours in the hot sun but you just had to do it for a summer or two.Would you like to try it for 40 years ,the rest of your life. We'd watch you suck up to the boss and run us down. You probably still suck up to the boss in your climate controled offices and stab each other in the back and sleep with your friends wives.
I'm proud to have worked for a living.I've done real work that contributed to society.I've built my own house and have a small nest egg,if someone doesn't cheat me out of it I'll have barely enough to get by.I have the VA,for medical. It ain't much but it's better than a lot of folks have.I woke up one morning and I couldn't walk. It's better now I lost my medical when I couldn't work.I've applied for disability, the doctor said I could of had it years ago but i didn't want to apply for it until i really needed it.I can tend my vegatable garden some and the boy feeds the chicken.I need to teach him to split wood for the stove as i ain't the man I used to be.
One of the only posts worth reading today, David. America needs more honest people like you and what you are actually asking for is a union, one that looks out for the working person that belongs to it. And frankly I haven't seen any employers becoming saints and angels just because they are smashing the unions. Human nature is such particularly when there is no law or regulation to force a person to be honest and fair, that Republicans who want to eliminate regulations just want a license to steal.
Now why should Trumpka give a rats @ss? He and the business managers make big bucks. More and more people are seeing belonging to a Union is one way street. And its not for the members!
Does this mean the unions will be celebrating their next pounding? Always good to maintain a sense of humor when facing irrelevance.
Just another in a series of "cracks" in the Union foundation that will soon crumble. I could swear I saw Thug Trumpka's resume on line today applying for a sanitation workers job. Steal while the stealing is still good!
Obama wants to eliminate coal as a source for electrical generation and Trumka still follows him around like a puppy dog. I hope the UMW realize what a joke Trumka really is. Hey Bev and Feisty, keep pulling the demodrone train.
Its more like dumb and dumber leading the blind.
How could they have voted differently and remain union members?
