WEST SALEM, WI, and WASHINGTON -- In what appears to be embattled Gov. Scott Walker's closing message to voters before tomorrow's recall election, he warned that if he loses, it could set a bad precedent leading to more recalls in the state and that no one wants all these attacks.
"If my opponent's elected, you have the start of recall ping pong," Walker said in a press conference here today. "Recalls will continue throughout the state, sadly for years to come. I don't think anyone wants that."

Roger Schneider / AP
Republican Gov. Scott Walke serves eggs at a dairy breakfast in Rockland, Wis.
He added, "I think most people on this state want to move on. They're sick of all the attacks, all the commercials ... You're not able to do that if my opponent's elected. It's the start of an ongoing, seemingly endless campaign of year-round elections."
Of course, this is from Walker, whom Democrats have attacked for saying he would employ a "divide and conquer" strategy to take on unions.
On negative advertising, the airwaves have been dominated by Walker and his supporters, who have far outspent Democrats. Conservatives have spent about double what Democrats have on TV, $24 million to $12.7 million, according to NBC/SMG Delta.
And on recalls leading to more recalls, since Democrat Gray Davis was ousted in 2003, there hasn't been another election like it in California.
Walker also didn't back down from any of the controversial stances he's taken -- like going after dismantling collective-bargaining rights for public-sector workers -- which led to the million-person petition setting the recall in motion.
"I think the message that will come out tomorrow if we're able to prevail is that you can take on tough issues," he said, adding, "and voters will stand with you."

Tomorrow will be a great day: a stinging rebuke for the greedy public employee unions, who overplayed their hand.
The true 1% are the coddled, overpaid, unaccountable, spoiled , fat-pensioned public sector. They were supposed to be the servants of the people, instead they have become our masters.
The good voters in Wisconsin are sending a message to the Unions and the rest of the country. To quote a line from one of my favorite movies, that message is this:
"Unions, we 'fart in your general direction'" .... and that message can also apply to the idiots who started this silly recall in the first place! What a waste of resources!
Recently and stealthily Scott Walker repealed Equal Pay for women in Wisconsin.
SB202, the Equal Pay Enforcement Act designed to deter discrimination from employees was repealed by Scott Walker on March April 4th. The bill was re-named Act 219, so please look it up. In WI, women are paid less than women nationally
Walker's repeal is an attack on women's rights, health, and economic security. Women are the breadwinner of their households in most cases.
BY CONTRAST, President Obama is supporting the Paycheck Fairness Act, designed to update the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and help close the pay gap between men and women.
Congress is scheduled to vote on the legislation this week.
Say Bob - how about your guy McDonnell sucking up to President Obama over the weekend!
Looks like he can kiss any hope of being VP good-bye! lol
Then there's his little problem with wanting to probe women against their will...
Feisty, DIVISIVE, ENDLESS CAMPAIGNS?
Walker said "I think most people on this state want to move on. They're sick of all the attacks, all the commercials ... You're not able to do that if my opponent's elected. It's the start of an ongoing, seemingly endless campaign of year-round elections."
This - from the guy who took advantage of a loophole to get outside spending to the tune of 20:1 against Democrats. So he could lie and run negative ads with his Koch/Crossroads buddies.
This is the guy who is on tape saying his STRATEGY WAS TO DIVIDE AND CONQUER, in Wisconsin.
Walker is on here talking about ATTACKS, when the word is tattooed on his arse.
So, Probing Bob, when did teachers, police, firemen, etc, move into the 1% financial world? Bet they don't know that!
You gotta stop hanging out with the Koch crowd!
Lets sum it up, shall we? Wisconsin goes Red with the election of Walker and a GOP legislature. The Democrats, faced with legislative defeat, instead of taking it like adults, behave like the children they are and run away from the state hoping to prevent a vote. The vote occurs anyway, and the Democrats continue to whine like the children they are. Recall elections occur for the legislators while teachers protest in Madison, skipping out of their jobs to do so, and the Democrats/Unions come up short of a majority. So the Unions try the same with Walker, and it isn't looking good on that front for them either. After Walker wins, he'll be a hero, his cause will be justified, he will have balanced the states budget and made the unions pay their fair share of their pensions and benefits - a winning combination if there ever was one.
And the Democrats/Unions (same thing)? They'll look like the sore losers they are, and Walker will do a victory lap on their political graves.
Correction:
People are sick of lying, yellow -belly Koched up Tea Baggers like GOV. Scott Walker and the obscene amout of money used to confuse people, make coporation CEOs richer, destroy pensions & jobs, sell public lands, and destroying the electroral process as well as polluting minds & the earth .
Wisconsin Recall Shocker
June 1, 2012
The important thing to remember in this senate election is that if the Dems win just one seat, that will give them a majority in the state senate, it will no doubt also have a telling impact on the Presidential elections in November. Right now the Dems have nothing to lose but much to gain even with one seat alone being won.

Ha ha , the cross-eyed badger thinks he has got it the bag. Either way the cross eyed badger loses whether he is indicted or losses one or more of his Koched-up tools!!!!!
Walker's comments would be funny if he wasn't such a sad excuse for a human being. "People are sick of all the attacks" that his cronies from other states and countries made against Barret. But, he is a true Republican - he will never be accused of having truth and integrity.
Gee Vag-Bob, A 30k a year school teacher is your master? How sad for you!
Recall Walker!!!
I have yet to meet a fireman, policeman, or teacher pulling down a salary of $2M per year. What a pathetic post from a delusional ranter.
Wow, Walker is sick of the attacks? How do the public workers in his state feel about that quote? Walker is taking meat off of their tables.
Walker deserves to be sent packing. He is bought and paid for by the Koch brothers, and is not there to serve the public, that's for sure.
this is funny stuff. I don't care if you are black, white, pink. purple, gay, straight, female, male. Your pay should be based on job performance and experience, not race or gender.
He chose the fight. He decided to make his state the battleground between organized labor and the 1%. Now he's trying scare tactics. Every Republican needs to be voted out of office until they learn that they were elected to represent the American Citizens, not just the wealthy ones.
Hmmmmm. Selfish, greedy public unions, Bob? Corrupt, lazy union members?
Funny. The only image in my mind this moment is the line of police officers, fire fighters and emergency service personnel who walked into the World Trade Center when it was attacked, to their certain deaths. How many died that day, Bob, do you remember?
How many DIED?
Nice "pigeon post", Bob in VA -
Fly in, crap all over everything, then fly away.
So now public sector workers are the 1%, overpaid and fat-pensioned. A real good story, too bad the facts don't support it.
@ New Day. I remember the number of firefighters killed. I knew some of them from when I was on the job in another city. It was 343 including paramedics. That number is burned into my memory. Republicans love bringing up 9/11 at every opportunity, but they have forgotten what an important job public employees play in making normal life possible for the rest of us.
Public unions should be outlawed. The threat of getting your boss (elected officials) fired by withholding campaign funds (union dues) stinks to high heaven. No wonder the public sector is big, fat and slow.
Wayne: I can't tell you how OUTRAGED I am that people have forgotten what happened that day, and what families suffered when members of public unions put the citizens of their communities ahead of personnel safety.
It is DISGRACEFUL.

Public Unions should be mandatory. Public safety being compromised because of political vendettas should be a felony in itself. And why should the public sector be nimble? Would you suggest the same for say...power utilities or nuclear security? Of course not John, that would be stupid and radical, right?
@ New Day. I am as well. Once when I was wearing my fire department shirt to the super market, an older person thanked me for my service. I will never forget that. I am since retired, but I still wear those shirts, as I have dozens of them! I have not had anyone say anything since that one day. People clearly have forgotten. It is so tough for the families when they watch their loved ones go to work. They never REALLY know when or if you are coming home. Now republicans call them names instead of thanking them for their service, and we see the evidence in some posts on this website.
So Mr. Divide and Conquer - you are a piece of ! Dems can fill in the blank very well.
Obama/Biden 2012
Newday - your reference to 911 is way off base. Firefighters, police and first responders would all do their jobs if they were unionized or not. Stop with the very stupid analogy that it was unions that did all the work. It was the men and women that gave their lives. I swear, this is the most ridiculous waste of a thought process I've encountered in a very long time.
Thank you for your service Wayne!
I *salute* you!
Damn Bubblegum!
I don't get it Wayne, and I never will. There is a certain heroism in even taking the job of firefighter on. Why have we forgotten that?
The only time they will remember is if they have to make that call for help.
But, Wayne...thank you, and all who worked with you, for your service.
Thanks very much New Day and Feisty. I am on my second career now, and still a public employee. I am proud of my union affiliation. Unions mean human dignity. Brian is right about one thing. I would have done it even if I wasn't in a union, but my life though not grand, allows me to have my own home and put my kids through school. I think everyone in that line of work deserves that. I pray every day for my brothers and sisters still on the job.
Brian B, have you ever put your life on the line for anyone? What kind of price tag would you put on that sort of thing?
And along comes brianb to denigrate public workers. You know what I hate Brian: people like you who sit on their butts and are critical of those "in the arena." Test: quote is from whom? You know what that makes you brian? A moral coward.
Why don't you apply for one of those jobs and see how far you get?
The people who are continually slamming unions have absolutely no idea how they work, what they do and what they represent. Every pay and safety regulation non-union workers enjoy were directly derived from unions. You know, the regulations the Teapublicans call "job killers".
Walker could still be in for a surprise, as Democrats have been under-estimated every step of the way in this contest.
Wonder if Walker has talked to his illegitimate daughter lately?
Why do the cons get away with it? Republican takeover in Wisconsin came with the agenda of "conquering" unions. Koch brother funding is real, Walker was scammed into telling us all about his connection (at the hip) to Koch anti-labor forces. Of course before the "fiscal crisis" Walker cuts taxes to create the deficit. Even still the unions agreed to the reductions in benefits, but this wasn't enough for the "divide and conquer" Walker who, along with his republican buddies in the legislature went after collective bargaining rights. These unions exist for a reason, historically the "job creators" have abused and exploited workers, this is historical fact. Then unions forced some concessions, this is credited with the development of the middle class in this country, since the threat of strikes were the only thing these companies would listen to. Since Uncle Ronnie's union busting ways, private companies have successfully eliminated unions, with their usual threats of outsourcing, depressions, and political corruption. You can see what has happened to the middle class since. The cons are destroying 80 years of progressive action for the workers, so they can return to 1900 when everything was controlled by a few. They know individuals can't stand up to mega-corporations, only unions and liberal government. Hence they are out to destroy unions and drown the government in a bathtub. These cons are "standing up against the tyranny of government" but are perfectly willing to take whatever crap corporations can dish up. Along with the Supreme Court (R) the government is for sale to the highest bidder. Wisconsin deserves better and so do all Americans. Republicans are out to destroy the social safety net, decent wages and working conditions, education, and any regulations for corporations. Republican rule equals depression for all but the upper crust, this was true in 1929 and in 2007.
"You know what I hate Brian: people like you who sit on their butts and are critical of those "in the arena.""
Kind of what you do at times Newday? You and your little buddies don't do the same?
Wayne,
"What kind of price tag would you put on that sort of thing?"
So Wayne, are you saying you did it for the money or the principle of it? If you ask me the question you asked Brian, the answer is yes I had.
Really, Paul? I was critical of firefighters? Why don't you do them and the rest of us a favor. If you are so allergic to public unions, wear a tag on your shirt that says the following:
"In case of emergency, do not rescue me if you are a union member. I hate unions."
Walker is sick of all the attacks!!!! Excuse me, this guy has forgotten the meaning of democracy and now he wonders why over one million people signed a recall petition.
[Why don't you apply for one of those jobs and see how far you get?]
It's because Brianb is holding out for a "management position"...he better hope Boehner talks his "posse" into voting to extend unemployment bennies...
...right Brian?
...yeah, I'm right, aren't I...
Well tell me, Big Al, exactly how is balancing the state budget a violation of the meaning of democracy.? I mean, cutting back union bennies is definitely un-Democrat-ic, but it's not undemocratic. There is a big difference in the two!
I think you are Mickey, good to see you here today.
Of course before the "fiscal crisis" Walker cuts taxes to create the deficit. Even still the unions agreed to the reductions in benefits, but this wasn't enough for the "divide and conquer" Walker who, along with his republican buddies in the legislature went after collective bargaining rights.
Pat in SoCal, better stick to something you maybe know about, like the CA. budget hole. Walker did not create the WI budget deficit, that was done by those who preceded him, most notably Democrat Jim Doyle. The unions didn't agree to @!$%#, prior to Walker taking office, despite of numerous attempts over the years to get modest concessions, they'd have none of it. Once Walker won they knew their goose was cooked so THEN they hint at some concessions, too late ass holes. You ripped us off with your WEA Trust Union Health Care insurance that screwed, no outright Fuced, the taxpayers for years with their sky high insurance rates. But, you don't hear that story but google it just the same and get the gory details. As for "Collective Bargaining" that is a privilege, not a right. If it were a right, it could never be taken away, and everyone would have it. Not so, not even every public union has this license to screw taxpayers.
By the way, how are things there in Kalifornia. Budget deficit must be around -$18 billion by now. Enjoy your crappy government.
Mickey, are firefighters first and foremost firefighters or union members? Are you justifying the union abuses rampant among firefighters? Do I need to show you stories of the uptick in disability that occurs just before retirement to garner tax free benefits? Should I list the most dangerous jobs and show you where firefighters rank? Firefighters do a great and dangerous job, it doesn't excuse union abuse. It never have, never will. Stop justifying union corruption by pointing to the benefits of the job. The Germans made the trains run on time, it didn't excuse their actions in WW2. It's a stupid assumption to make.
[...good to see you here today.]
And, as always, good to see you too, Newday. It's been a busy month...two college graduations PSU and RPI), a "man-cation" with the guys, and topped it all off with a weekend backpacking in the Catskills and attending the local Mountain Jam Festival at Hunter Mountain...it's no Woodstock, but then, again, three days of fun and music is great no matter how you slice it, right?
Jesse,
I have no idea what you are talking about...is your post directed to someone else?
You sound busy, Mickey, and we have missed you.
Even Walker acknowledges that : People are 'sick of all the attacks' on the Middle Class and Unions.
Even more reason to vote Walker out.
There was quite a bit going on Newday, the last two have graduated and the CSA is doing really well so far this year thanks to the warm weather we've had.
Congratulations to them Mickey! Big day in your life!
Just thought I would comment on the Festy. Hunter mountain is a great place to see music was there for Mountain Jam IV, Do they still put a ferris wheel at the top of the hill? Great location but those rain storms sure do make it bone chilling cold at night.
Sorry I offended you Hard-to-starboard.
You're right about the deficit being created by those who came before, mostly retarded economic policies from your side which crashed all of the states along with the federal budgets. Welcome to the Bush/Republick depression. Enjoy your day is Visconsin (or go milk a cow or whatever it is you do). I do know something about the CA budget hole, his name is AArrnoold. I guess with Koch bootlicker Walker you know what crappy government is all about.
The best part is, even if the cross-eyed badger wins, he's still looking at indictment! lol
And let's not forget, we only need to flip ONE of the four Senators up for recall to regain control!
So he'll be a lame duck Governor no matter how you want to slice & dice it! lol
WHOOOPS!
So much for compromise!
The people of Wisconsin are sick of you Scott!...Leave Wisconsin and take your negative Koch ads with you. They should make great viewing for you later as you ponder how not to govern!..Heck, you may even be in jail.

You have no idea what how much misinformation and many LIES regarding your pseudo-scientific method is!!!
Better use a different method inspector gadget
So let me get this straight...
Wisconsin should keep a harmful, ineffective, immoral law breaker in the Governor's mansion in order to avoid retaliation from the Republicans, "re-call ping pong" according to Gov. Walker.
What a position!
Am I reading this article correctly?
That, ipso facto, should provide basis for recall IMO.
Alan, Southern Californian's also rejected MetroLink and other major rail projects installed over the last 15 years, yet once implemented, they are massively popular. The bullet train is direly needed. What were once five hour commutes between SF/LA routinely take 8+ hours. Air travel has become so pricey, it is not affordable to the average commuter. If the line is built, people will flock to it, and it will open up the corridor to folks who simply avoid it for the time being.
And like most other mass-transit systems it is subsidized. Who is going to pay for the capital and operational costs?
If you subsidize people so they are not paying the true cost then it will be popular. Only problem is we are running out of other people's money.
@RedDev. We used to be a nation of trains and will be again when fossil fuels become completely unaffordable as they inevitably will. They use much less fuel than road or air traffic, carry more people, and they are the safest form of travel available. Republicans are beholden to the oil companies, and so they want to shut Amtrak down for good. I on the other hand take the train whenever I can. I can read and relax and meet new people. I sit in the diner and get waited on, and I don't miss those "rest" stops on the highways. I don't get jet lag, either. Trains will once again become our primary means for crossing and viewing this great nation.
We also used live in towns and cities (urban) but are now spread around in suburbs and exburbs. Before the return of the train (don't hold your breath), distributed and home based working will become the norm because of high speed communications.
Why are the left in love with the train? It's not even 20th century, it's the century before that.
Wow Alan, are you under the impression that no federal money goes toward air travel or the bus lines?
People better learn that this allowing corporations/rich to funnel unlimited money into campaigns like Walker did will be the death of democracy in America. Votes are now up to the highest bidder and the corporations/rich win that battle every time. I know that Koch Bros/Faux News/Teabaggers don't care about democracy but if the rest of the country does they better get out and boot Walker to the curb and the Teabag scum in general in November.
Alan - riddle me this batman....why do you come on here? I really don't get it you have nothing positive or constructive to add to any of the discussions and yet here you are. The only explanation is nobody else wants to read your posts possibly not even faux news and so you come full of yourself to harass us! Please if you have any shred of dignity in you GO BACK TO FAUX NEWS! If you haven't noticed we really think you would be suited better on Faux with your own kind! God help us with limited thinkers like you in the world.
...and don't hold your breath on fossil fuels becoming unaffordable in foreseeable future.
http://news.yahoo.com/natural-gas-prices-drop-rising-supplies-174834190--finance.html
What a wonderful loss this will be for progressives. I am soooo excited. Did you hear about public sector union membership in Wisconsin? Seems like those fine upstanding members don't really like paying dues afterall. More than half of the members quit paying when they were no longer FORCED to pay.
Yea, because the USA has enough natural gas to last 100 years, and I see this civilization dying well before then.
Well when your union cannot collectively bargain, is there really a point to remaining in a union?
No, I understand that they are subsidized as well. But the need for high speed trains in a country that is as spread out as this one makes no sense. As I pointed out, even a commuter train service in the suburbs is impracticable, to get from point to point. It only makes sense if you are going to one central point (like New York City). I travel by train from NJ to New York and even at peak times the trains are not crowded. There is no service on weekends as there is no demand. I would never travel by train from one part of NJ to another as it would take hours. If I want to travel to Phillie, it would me as long to get to a train station and find parking as it would to drive the NJ Turnpike. But as I said before, with remote conferencing why travel at all?
@Super Bon
Maybe if you could refute some of my arguments you wouldn't feel so depressed. Your infantile criticism is what I would expect from a low-information troll. I have put forward many suggestions that are neither left nor right. I do not watch FAUX news nor MSNBC as both insult my intelligence. If you cannot answer the question of who is going to pay for all your goodies, why don't you crawl back to your dorm-room, have another cookie, and let the adults debate the issues.
Ruken -
You're right, "what's the point". Let's just get rid of public sectoe unions so the private sector doesn't have to support them anymore. Those employees can contribute to their retirement and health care just like the rest of us.
It seems to me that if walker loses it won't cause a lot of useless recalls but it will cause a lot of politicians to think about their actions. You can bet that none will pull sneaky little tricks after getting elected. Walker is nothing more han a bought and paid for whore.
I do find it fascinating as to how many people are caught up in this. Not only that, some of you folks are really worked up, and calling each other childish names. Stop trying to run my state. I am voting tomorrow, as are a lot of other people. If you don't like the outcome, then don't let it happen in your state.
Sure, let's just get rid of the public sector unions. Management will make sure all employees are treated fairly and everyone is safe and sound..
You do know that a big part of collective bargaining is not about wages and benefits, right? It is also about enough teachers in the classrooms, enough police officers on patrol, and enough firefighters and fire stations. It is about safe working conditions and reasonable hours.
All of you naysayers need to inform yourselves on what public unions do and what collective bargaining encompasses.
Alan, it boils down to 'what' are folks willing to subsidize. Widening and/or building new interstates with associated costs, or building another form of viable transportation. I would opt for the 2nd. Same applies to the shortages for transportation in So. Cal. Ending commuter rail service would mean vast outlays to double the regions freeway systems. What is cheaper, finding ways to fund the trains to keep them running, or adding more roads and freeways?
@Alan Do you realize that comparing AmTrak to high speed rail is like comparing the Model T to a Lambourghini? Take a look at China's rail. Highly energy efficient (magnet propelled) and clean, as well as potentially faster than air travel (a trip from LA to NY in about 3 hours). Please learn to speak from an educated perspective. It is time for our infrastructure to be upgraded and updated. Until this is done, we will continue to fall behind the rest of the developed world. Remember that next time you cross one of our many public bridges on the verge of collapsing due to this lack of investment. It was our superior infrastructure and manufacturing base that made us the powerhouse we became in the 20th century. Unfortunately, there are idiots in power who believe the only way to spur growth again is by continuing to stand by and watch or facilitate the bottom falling out from under us
Hey Joe... it's lots better now than when only Unions could funnel tens of millions of dollars into campaigns... this doom and gloom about superPACs is just the usual Liberal dismay at a level playing field... just wait until we start up 5 or 6 entertainment broadcast networks and nullify your media monopoly too!
Fed Up -- Only dummies rely on TV to tell them how to think.
Dumb Fux, or commonly known as slimebag Fisty Redhole Rosette, now entering excuses mode, soon to be "so what" mode after Walker kicks butt tomorrow. Wait till you read the posts after Walker wins: she and other socialists will be back-pedalling, saying, "oh, it really doesn't matter" "It won't make a difference..." etc.... mark my words...
Unfortunately, there are millions of dummies out there sucking up all the propaganda the TV spews out. We keep hearing about how negative attack ads work. People may not like them, but they apparently believe them. What is so puzzling is that droves of people go out in droves to vote as they are told. So yeah, millions of dummies are being told how to think.
Well, Walker, since you are the one attacking public workers and labor unions, perhaps YOU should STOP ATTACKING!
Walker never fails to amuse me. His campaign spews out the most filthy ads and then he says people are tired of it! How about you just go away Walker.
weemee...
Mr. Walker appears to have been studying the playbook of the President of the United States.
I can't imagine any democrat voting for Walker in Wisconsin. The men is a sexist. Look what he did for women on equal pay? How can any woman vote for someone who didn't even have the courage to repeal equal pay for women in the light of day.
It's dicey.
A lot of democrats just think that Wisconsin needs to live with what it did.
"If thou votest Republican, thou deservist Republican done unto thee."
Wisconsin voted Republican. Thus, they deserve to be Republican'ed in the face, imho.
Sort of like MA and Romney...they voted Republican, got Republican'ed in the face, and elected Deval. Polls were so bad the (R)ominee didn't even run for re-election.
Or CA, which voted for the Schwartz and then went waaaaay democratic.
Or like the USA, and the 2001 - 2009 looting that occurred. we voted Republican as a nation, we got Republican'ed in the face, and now people don't have homes and jobs.
Sucks! Maybe they should learn not to vote Republican in the future ^.^ They seemed to learn it in 2008, but forgot it in 2010. And bam...rinse and repeat.
>> like the USA, and the 2001 - 2009 looting that occurred. we voted Republican as a nation...
Actually, we didn't, at least in 2000. Most people voted for Al Gore.
Teknishan - CA has been solidly Democratic since the mid-90s. $16B deficit in the state alone speaks to disaster that has been the Democratic party.
Yeah and in 2008 when the you voted in odumbo, we now spend 3-4 times more on welfare. Welcome to the age of entitlement. This of course is the core voting block of the democrats.
the california people are democratiic. the california eleced officials are whatever is going to get them the most money. like that repulican arnold. sorry you got sold out...
Believenothinguread
I suggest you recheck who the state CEO's aka governors of CA have been. No exactly SOLID Democrat as you claim.
teknishan
Romney sang a more moderate tune back then to get the gov. office. Today, Romney is singing a conservative tune. Either way, Romney is a total fake and a pathological liar.
Massachusetts did much better unter Patrick than they did under Romney.
Romney didn't run for 2nd term because 1) he used Mass to make connections for his presidential bid in 2008, and 2) he would not have been reelected because he was very unpopular for dumping his office before his term was up.
Time For CHANGE 2012
I know lies are the Republican ways so I know you will not come up with any but I will ask anyways: do you have any facts to back up your little story???
bayllie,
I apologize for stating 3-4 times. It actually only doubled and it is on the uptick. It is not letting me post the link to the site but google welfare spending and you can see the charts for yourself.

Time For CHANGE - what an ignorant post. Let's see, with unemployment high and no jobs there is a need to help those who are out of work and need to eat, live. This is not the norm and is certainly not looked at as anything but temporary until more and more jobs are added (as has been happening each month). To actually compare this to figures when the economy was good is ludicrous!
Let me answer that for timefor a change---Hmmmmm-------------------NO.
No facts, no proof, just pure Republican propaganda for the feeble minded. And the gullible fall for that line every time.
Only Republicans work. RIIIIIIIGHT!! YOU BETCHA! Wink/Wink! LOL.
More Republican silliness.
Rilli - A sexist? Really? Where do you dig up this crap?
these righties just repeat (knowingly or unknowingly) these lies. They are either uninformed or dishonest. They get their news from right wing radio instead of reading a paper. Once, I would like them to fact check what the get sent in an email before forwarding it to 100 people.
Tom Walsh - I would say uninformed but they've been led to the facts over and over. Unfortunately Dishonest is spot on.
Look up historical records in regards to welfare! As shocking as it might seem (sarcastic) welfare does go up during a recession!!!!! That is the purpose of a "safety net". So you don't have someone who lost their job eating cat food. We're not talking about people that have made it a life long addiction. And nothing near the numbers you are throwing around. Maybe if we didn't have a "I don't care about the country, don't cooperate with the President Congress ", maybe we would have gotten job bills passed and gotten more Americans back to work. May I remind you it was a Democrat (Clinton) that fixed welfare.
It's pretty funny hearing a Republican talking about stopping all the attacks. All they did with Clinton and now Obama is one vicious attack after another. All the birther crap, all the attacks on the health care law that was passed by a majority in both houses. Appointing a special prosecutor who went through more than $50 million and all he could come up with was Monica Lewinski.......... I mean how many dead ends like Whitewater,et al did he chase till he finally came up with some bimbo intern? Is this the stopping all the attacks the Republicans are talking about?
Actually Scott, what folks are sick of are politicians like yourself who represent corporate greed at the expense of the people. You got yourself elected under false pretenses, you had no mandate for your agenda, and you have been a tremendous waste of time and taxpayer money. If recalls are the only way to get rid of bad politicians like you, then it doesn't matter how many we have as long as they are effective.
Actually, Scott Walker is the one who attacked public employees and tried to make them a scapegoat for the recession created by Wall Street greed.
Yeah Tek - Walker and Wisc. is way, way worse than Cali and Brown and Illinois and Quinn.
Really.
And Tek you certainly know the Cali legislature has been as blue as can be for a long long time.
Cali is all Blue in the face. And it is going down.
Romney in Mass? 4.7% unemployment. You cannot do better than that. TOugh to create jobs when you essentially have full employment.
Say, Tek, what is Cali's unemployment rate right now?
Sorry gang Walker is a lock to win, and likely big tomorrow.
I know it, you know it, hell even Schultz and Sharpton know it.
Man, is tomorrow gonna be great or what?
Tom Amen to that The obstructicans do not know what work together means any more. They have bee Tea-kocked and the unsupreme court made it worse with idiots united.
I reckon it's up to the folks in wisconsin and their druthers. It'll be interesting to watch what they choose. I don't know that it will prove anything, one way or the other.
I will be watching the transit of Venus if we have clear skies.
Yep, that is the only thing the Democrats and their Union sponsors know how to do when things are not going their way: ATTACK.
Typical Modus Operandi.
People are sick of conflict. Cooperation = prosperity. Throw out the obstructionist, divide and conquer Teapublicans.
ECOMAN101 -- Amen. Don't reward betrayal.
Walker prevails, Obama is booted - and our Nation can move forward to healing and prosperity.
End of Story
Walker, what a hero... He gives unfunded tax breaks to his buddies creating a deficit so that he can use that as an excuse to go after public unions (which he never stated in his election campaign) even though the unions agreed to most of the cost-cutting measures he proposed. His goal was never balancing the budget or growing the economy as he has failed in the latter and he unbalanced the former thereby creating a crisis of his own making. The problem with public unions is not simply that they exist, it is that politicians of all stripes have made promises to them that were fiscally irresponsible and now those bills are coming due. In a company you'd either declare bankruptcy or you'd renegotiate benefits--Walker just acted as if WI had gone bankrupt and tore up the contracts even though there were other options on the table--not that he cared.
And, regarding comparisons to CA, these are irrelevant as the benefits given the unions in CA have been deemed by the CA Supreme Court to be irrevocable without direct negotiations with the unions. In other words, the public-sector unions can't simply be done away with by fiat from the governor as Walker did. Apples and Oranges.
Rilli
Really? Where are the female employees saying he pays them less? Where are the women who work for him who say he is sexist to them?
Do you not understand or care to understand that the latest survey showing a gender gap in pay is tainted by including high paying high hazzard jobs that there are no women working in and don't even apply for because they are so hazzardous?
I agree that women should have equal pay. That is why I won't vote for Obama. Seems he by GAO records is paying women 18% less then the equal male counterpart.
Aside from the silly childish name-calling, the fact is that the economy crashed during the Bush administration, resulting in a huge increase in the unemployed, thus a huge increase in welfare BEFORE Obama came into office. In case you haven't noticed, the economy is now recovering, unemployment is dropping, and welfare is also dropping.
Oh, but Teapublicans never let little things like "facts" get in the way of a good rant!
Update:
WI’s RWNJ SoS is going to put an army on the ground to fight ‘voter fraud’. In other words, intimidate Hispanics and AA’s from doing their civic duty and voting.
Unite Women wants WI voters to KNOW THIS!
“From Wisconsin Election Protection, we are receiving reports that some clerks are still asking for Voter ID under the guise of “practice.” This is NOT OK! There should be NO requests for photo ID from voters! If you see signs, if you are asked for your ID, please notify us IMMEDIATELY.

TruePatriot - so true.
Ido - you never post anything that isn't hate filled toward Obama. Your take on this - not surprising.
justoneguy - oh you are going to be soooooooo disappointed in November! And, that's just the beginning of the story!~

Then you to get your FACTS correct befofe you cast your vote.
The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009:
President Obama has long championed this bill and Lilly Ledbetter's cause, and by signing it into law, he will ensure that women like Ms. Ledbetter and other victims of pay discrimination can effectively challenge unequal pay..[14]

Politically-charged pay equity bill to get vote in Senate Tuesday
"If Congress passes the Paycheck Fairness Act, women are going to have access to more tools to claim equal pay for equal work. If they don't, if Congress doesn't act, then women are still going to have difficulty enforcing and pressing for this basic principle."
Republicans, who argued the measure would lead to over-burdensome government involvement in private sector pay practices, are expected to block the bill when it comes up for a key procedural vote in the Senate Tuesday.

Now do you think tea bagers &RepubliCons will vote for pay equity for women???
FYI: Gov. Scott Walker repealed Wisconsin Equal Pay law
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/04/06/gov-scott-walker-repeals-wisconsin-equal-pay-law/
Time for Change,
You know why it went up so much for? Because of the economy. If McCain would have been elected the same thing would have happened, it may have actually been worse depending if he bent over for the TP freshmen. It certainly would not have been better.
Social spending is directly linked to the economy. If the economy is doing really bad, like it is right now, more people get on welfare and draw more from social programs. When the economy is healthy the reverse is true. It really has nothing to do with Obama for the most part except the bills which extended unemployment benefits and other life-assistance programs like food stamps.
Fixing the economy is going to make most of our social spending issues go away; sadly, there is no way to quickly fix our economy so we are in a no-win situation.
OOPS...Walker HAS won...Obama WILL be booted...and this Nation can go on to prosperity...HA HA
Don't underestimate the stupidity of the ignorant working class. They seem to always vote for the worst choice to their pocketbooks. They're so easily persuaded with lies. They'll probably retain the moron, to their own demise.
Thank God I don't live in Wisconsin. You can't keep it.
Oh my goodness! I just got off the phone with some friends in WI. The voters in Wisconsin are fired up! And it ain't for the Democrat. The last polls I saw Walker was up by 7%. I think it is going to be a much larger margin of victory. 10% at least. Can anyone say Landslide?
Tom...
You claim that Republicans are "uninformed" and that they collectively get their news from talk-radio "instead of reading a newspaper".
Typical.
Mr. Obama's three strongest voting blocs in 2008...what percentage of those voters read a daily newspaper ?
My opinion, for what it's worth, is that recall elections should only happen if the elected official is convicted of some sort of a felony. Short of that, recalls should never happen because of policy differences. That is why we have elections in the first place. Walker said what he would do if elected, was elected, and then did exactly what he said he would do. And for the record, things have pretty much turned out fiscally like he said they would. The deficit has turned into a surplus and property taxes have come down. I would imaging the average Wisconsin resident (who is NOT a union member) would be able to appreciate that. And the union members? They are paying slightly more of their pension and slightly more for healthcare, and none have been laid off from what I can tell. I guess union people like it better when the state is broke but they have their little piece of gold.
Since when did your neighbors, the teachers become your enemy? Is it because they have a pension and you don't? It's irrelevant whether they pay more to fund it or not, the question really is what was the promise when made? How would you feel if your employer promised you a 4% match and then after 15 or 20 years he said, sorry, I didn't put the money in? Given the vast sums of monies coming from all sorts of groups, do you really think that the teacher and AFSCME unions are the deciding factor as to how elected officials vote? And why separate out the fire and police from the teachers and government workers? Why pit these workers against the private union workers when in the end Walker's own words are to make Wisconsin a Right to Work state? It is clear to me that Walker's world view is the same as Romney's regarding worker rights, namely "as the business owner, I'm the boss, and that's the end of the discussion."
As I understand it, the teachers gave Walker everything he wanted, because they are citizens of Wisconsin too, and wanted to help balance the budget, but he decided to go further and crush them, because his ideology is against the very idea of public unions. Well, I would suggest he overstepped his mandate as governor. I don't believe he was elected to destroy unions, only to negotiate with them. For pitting brother against brother, I think the nice people of Wisconsin ought to throw him out. I wish we could toss out the loud mouth governor we have in Maine. When the Tea Party comes in the door, civility goes out the window.
Amen, Wm. Not only is the GOP assaulting the middle class, they are pitting different segments of the 99% against themselves while they stand back and fund it. I hope the people of Wisconsin don't fall for Walker's nonsense.
The Republican/Tea Party idea of compromise is for everyone else to "bend over" and do it their way.
I thought a Governor was supposed to govern, not "divide and conquer" - how many of those "attacks" he is so "sick" of did he and his supporters pay for?
Hypocrite.
In this "mine, mine, all mine" mindset of the extremist right wing, where they believe the each inhabit their own island, yes, teachers, firefighters, cops...they're the "enemy". Even if the recall fails--that's hardly an endorsement of Walker's slash and burn politics....Whatever the heck happens, don't let this t-bag fool out of Wisconsin.
Wm. - 375815 - "..... what was the promise when made?"
So glad you mentioned this. Used to be pensions and the promises made by an employer on same were sacred. Since WHEN did it become ok for a company/employer to go back on their word?
Not all of the State public workers agreed to pay a small portion of their benefits , get your story correct:: Where were all you people when R. Reagan stole the benefits from The private workers by letting Corps. Raid Pension plans and fired ALL the traffic controlers???? He was a UNION leader REMEMBER
My turn Wi
Pensions have historically been raided by companies to avoid bankruptcy. Most tiimes this fails. That is why Bush 41 supported and got 401k's which eliiminated the companies making loans to themselves that they could never repay.
I remember the Reagan move. It opened pensions to be used for expansion, instead of just saving the company from bankruptcy. There is a big difference, a big, big, difference.
Pensions are a contract between employer and employee. They never should be raided and as usual Reagan was wrong.
16 tons and what do you get,
another day older and deeper in debt
So, St Peter don't take me cause I can't go
I sold my soul to the company store......
Recall Walker!!!!!!!!!
I don't like recall elections, and refused to sign the recall petition in CA to recall Gov Davis. I believe the voters have a right to vote out any elected person every four years and should have to live with the results of the first election. I feel it is a waste of money, causes more divisiveness and really serves no useful purpose except to appease a minority of the voters.
That said, I do hope Walker wins the recall election, which it looks like he will, but I don't believe it will be a referendum on the national elections. It is a states issue concerning mainly the Public Employee Unions and their bargaining powers.
sfret,
While I also don't like recall elections and didn't sign the petition or vote to recall Gov. Davis. The Enron thing put him between a rock and a hard place for which he was not going to win no matter what he did.
However, that said, sometimes one who is elected turns out to be very, very wrong, maybe even a felon and so voters should have the right to recall them. It shouldn't be easy to do but an option none the less.
So if the people of Wisconsin believe, and I hope they do, to recall Scott Walker he should be recalled. He has obviously upsent enough people to even have the recall on the ballot in the first place. From what I see and hear, I don't live in Wisconsin but in CA, Walker has done some illegal things above and beyond what he did to the unions of hard working public servants. Sometimes unions do go too far in the goodies they demand but there are ways other than what Walker has done to deal with such unions.
Impeachment would be a much more appropriate route than a recall election. The recall opens a whole different can of worms than impeachment. Simply because folks claim he lied about his campaign promises is no reason for recall. If that is true, then we need to recall every elected official from dog catcher on up and damn the expense.
Adler, since you live in CA then you know what the public employee unions have done to help cause the financial problems here. He did to the public employee unions exactly what I hope Governor Brown would do in CA, but we both know that isn't going to happen. The only way public employee unions are going to be reined in is for CA to prevent them from donating to those who control their pay and benefits or to deny collective bargaining over wages and benefits. I have no problem with bargaining over safety and working conditions, vacations, sick leave and retirement age.
If Walker did some illegal things, which there has been no proof, I am sure that if convicted he would automatically be removed without the waste of state government money on a recall. This recall was strictly about bargaining rights of public employee unions, no more, no less. BTW, I believe there are only a hand full of states that allow collective bargaining with their public employee unions and they seem to be doing o.k.
I agree with Bob from KC, impeachment would be the correct way to go, other than recall.
A recall vote is the public's version of impeachment.
Since the legislature here in Wisconsin is currently controlled by Rethugs, impeachment isn't an option.
Unions are nothing more than legal mafia now days. http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2012/05/13/148607/hefty-salaries-perks-for-union.html#storylink=omni_popular
Check out the nepotism of the boilermakers:Newton Jones gets over 600,000 a year with expenses, and he has his son, niece, nephew and brother at about 200,000 each. And Hoffa still runs the teamsters. Go Wisconsin! Red is dead! Blue is the way to go!
30 years ago CEOs made three times as much as the average worker. Today, CEOs make 300 times what the average wage is. But the Republicans think SCHOOL TEACHERS are overpaid?
Crystal, are you trying to prove your ignorance?
I agree, since "Red states" are considered Republican, and "Blue states" are considered Democratic. You probably didn't understand that though...surprise!
Left Wing - I was actually trying to figure out which group she supports. It's very hard to tell by her post! LOL!
daryl...
"To a person every one of them"....did you do a poll of "every" single "tea bagger" or did the voices inside your head give you that information ?
You just might be a closet teabagger too.
It's a shame what is happening in Wisconsin. These ridiculous unions will do for WI what the UAW did to the state of Michigan. Turn it in to an economic wasteland. No business in their right mind would relocate to any area where the UAW has destroyed the work ethic. Obama saddled the American tax payer with a huge burden by bailing the UAW out. We should have done what Mitt Romney would have done let GM go bankrupt in a controlled manner and re-emerge a better car company w/o the UAW tape worm still eating a hole in them....
UAW-
That is revisionist history at it's worst. If GM would have gone bankrupt, MAYBE they would have emerged as a leaner, better car company but the collateral damage to the component manufacturers and other peripheral companies would have been devastating. There would have more been bankruptcies and massive unemployment which could have triggered a slide back into recession.
"UAW tape worm"....right, freely negotitated benefits and wages are a tapeworm, but massive CEO salaries and "golden parachutes" are good for the companies and the shareholders? Get real.
TN, Stop it. Every one knows the UAW didnt have to be given preferential treatment over the bond holders to "save" GM in bankruptcy. There was no reason to give the UAW ownership in GM other than Obama paying them back for union votes with Tax payer money. Once their "agreement not to strike until Obama is out of office" is up, tax payer owned GM will once again be financially wrecked by all those ridiculous union demands. That wouldnt have happened if Romney's plan had been used.....
you're an idiot.. Yeah the employees do deserve ownership in the company
and it was by far the right thing to do for all..
Unions always and DEATH before republican..
Teachers and public employees unions have pretty much brought the State of California to the point of financial collapse in spite of the state having among the highest rates of taxation in the nation. The unions and democrats here have a mutually parasitic synbiotic relationship. Each needs the other to survive and thus they operate in lock step and just ask the taxpayers to bend over when they need more money (i.e., every year). This always come with the threat that if taxes are not raised old people and children will die and Armageddon in general will befall us. Of course it never does. Good luck to Walker in Wisconsin and should he lose there, please come to California ASAP as the tough issues he has taken on successfully in Wisconsin are also killing this state and we have a hell of lot more people.
UAW, you stop it.
You should know that the UAW was one of the major creditors of the pre-bankruptcy GM. "Everyone knows" the UAW was given stock in the new GM in lieu of the pensions they were owed contractually. The UAW traded a stake in the company for a portion of the pension owed to them - it was not a trade for votes, it was made to resolve a debt and ensure their cooperation in the process.
You act like the entire bankrutcy agreement only favored the UAW. The banks who had loans with GM did well, and even the bondholders did better than under the initial GM bankruptcy plan.
The UAW can make "ridiculous demands" but management has to agree to them - no one forced GM to offer free healthcare in exchange for more flexible hours, which helped lead to their financial difficulties. Management bet big and bet wrong.
In a bankruptcy all parties will not be happy. I for one am glad that in this instance taxpayer money didn't go to only the banks and the investors, it also went to the blue-collar workers.
PG, We had the same crap happen here in Iowa. When "Democrat" govenor Chet Culver left office he handed the public service unions a big wage and benifit package before he got out the door. In Iowa the tax payers are fed up with working until they are 70+ to pay for union workers who retired at 50-. We need better leadership in this country than we have seen from idiots like this.
It was refreshing to see the stunning reversal in politics in 2010. Let's hope that continues in 2012!
Tn -
What right did Obama have to rob the pensions of the bondholders when he gave (partial) ownership to the unions?
Obama had no right at all to steal the funds of the bondholders. According to statute and law, the bondholders get paid first. Obama threw the rule of law out the door when he gave the stock to the UAW.
Great post Tammy ... a point frequently overlooked by the Obama leg-humpers ! Obama has never been real keen on enforcing the law when it runs contrary to what "he WANTS to do".
Tammy - ignorant post. As usual you clearly don't have a clue about what happened!
Tammy-311614
What right did Obama have to rob the pensions of the bondholders when he gave (partial) ownership to the unions?
Lay off that Koched up LIE & FOX NOISE. You'll feel better
Great post Tammy. Let the Liberal insults run off your back. As evidenced by the election of 2010 there are alot of Americans who are fed up with these ridiculous liberal policies....
Beverly - I think Tammy is imbibing in a few too many of those WI brewskies! Quite a few!
Tammy, thank you for your posts... I find it funny that ppl who don't agree with you, feel the need to put you down?!? you're ignorant and a drunk??? WOW... I called names too when I didn't like ppl, I prob ended up sitting in a timeout bc I was a CHILD.
Another definition for Imbibing " take in something mentally: to take in and assimilate something such as an idea or experience" or when you think like "seeking Sanity" you apply the word to drinking brewskies in WI.....
Recall Walker!!!! (Being recalled is a lot less discraceful than being forced to resign for corruption or worse, being sent to jail. So you "Righties", get out there and vote to recall your boy, and save him a lot of anguish.....
Public sector workers shouldn't be given pay and benefits in excess of the taxpayers paying for them.
They aren't. Most independent studies show that for the same level of experience and education, public workers get less pay and lower raises, but better benefits.
Firefighters, police officers, teachers, etc. deserve what they are making, and shame on any governor trying to balance the budget on their backs. It's obvious that instead of negotiating in good faith Walker just decided to "bust" the public unions. They tried that in Ohio and it didn't work.
"Tough choices"? Sounds to me like he tried to take the easy way out instead of building a compromise solution.
Isn't it the FAIR thing to do is to have public sector unions receive the same benifits as 96% of the private workforce? Obama keeps touting the need for everyone to "DO THEIR FAIR SHARE" yet, the unions don't want to comply with Herr leader's wishes!
Public sector unions might as well start wearing brown shirts and marching goose-step, because what they want, is above and beyond that available to the average worker; who pays their saleries!
C'mon you guys; get with the program and do what Herr Obama wants!!
People believe anything!
Planeguy2, your post makes no sense.
If all things were equal - equal pay, equal raises, equal opportunities for promotions, equal hours, equl educational requirements - then maybe the same benefits would make sense. Everything is not equal - wages, raises, and promotional opportuites are almost always less and more regulated.
Why not argue that CEOs and politicians should get the same benefits as the people who pay their wages - the shareholders and voters? Why single-out public unions?
shouldn't private employees get off their fat lazy tail between thier legs and unionize so they can get better benefits.
Oh no lets reduce everyone down to 3rd world status and leave only a small % with all the money
IDIOTS
This is starting to sound a lot like the politician that promised everyone who vote for him an above average income. Those of you that are smart enough can do the math.
It used to be that we encouraged our children to grow up to become lawyers or doctors or to get an advanced degree in business because even though public sector employment was important, you couldn't make a living. Now we BEG our children to get a "government job" so that you get benefits and a comparable salary and it's very very difficult to get fired (see teacher in NY).
... And those that can't do math will vote Democrat.
Believenothinguread - you've misstated the obvious. Those who can do math, are educated and intelligent will vote Democratic. All the losers will vote for the GOP!
I love to see the clowns that call Obama a socialist or whatever and then equate him with a Nazi. I assume you folks have absolutely no shame. You do realize, do you not, that the Nazis and Fascists were far right and that socialists and such are far left? Nah, probably not. Obama is neither (try "extreme" moderate), but you listen to so much crap on the radio and TV that you are no longer able to think for yourselves. Instead it is the canned crap about how Obama is out to steal your guns and money, even though you have absolutely no proof of either. Amazing.
As far as Walker, he is a tool and little more. He is spinning Wisconsin into the ground, yet tons of you believe the lies he tosses about like confetti. Instead of believing what he says, why not try some simple checks? People outside of Wisconsin look foolish enough backing him, but those of you that live there? Geez, c'mon! I guess he might survive the recall, but you'll all really look like idiots when he gets indicted. Plan to stand behind the moron then, too?
Seeking...
So...those that vote 'Democrat' are the "educated and intelligent" among us.
In Connecticut in 2010 a Democrat candidate, Dannel Malloy, won election as governor by about 6000 votes out of 1.13 million votes cast. In the six poorest cities in our state (large or small) he won by about 75,000 votes, handing him the election.
Are all the "educated and intelligent" voters now living in our poorest cities ?
When did they all move there, anyway ??? You seem to know everything else...so explain why all the smart people have moved into the crappiest areas.
It's funny...on this site I'm always and forever reading about how any and all "informed" or "educated" or "intelligent" Democrat voters are.
Yet for all their collective wisdom...nobody has been able to answer the question above.
The vote for governor in Connecticut in 2010 may be the clearest delineation of votes that I have seen and it tells a story. One candidate wins every single municipality considered to be a "town"...he lost. And the other candidate wins every single municipality considered to be a "city"...he won.
Many of our cities have high school graduation rates of about 50%...crime is rampant...jobs are invisible...and the vote is overwhelming "Democrat". And we read again and again on this site how dumb Republican voters are and what rocket scientists "Democrat" voters are.
Something does not add up !
Good for WI voters. If the stories I've read are true Gov Walker needs to go..period. Too bad we couldn't do that on a national level with our President and the majority of the congress people. They all suck at their jobs and should to be recalled. Maybe if that happened to just a few of them it would straighten the rest of them out.
Ping pong is a wonderful game. Maybe what we need to do, starting in the heartland of America, is to finally send a messaget to Walker and other politicians that we're fed up with how they are doing things and that we want a change. That change comes, first, from electing their replacement. If that means recall sobeit.
The economy crashes and Walker and the GOP has these people believing that it was greedy unions that screwed everything up. Very good if I say so myself.
Its like me getting a married women pregnant and her husband thinks the baby is his when it looks like me !!! Thanks unions for being the husband!!!
Walker's closing statement should be simple and to the point! He should say; "I am doing what the president asked all Americans to do; that being ,,,,,THEIR FAIR SHARE!"
It seems to me that if 96% of the private working force has a 401K pension plan, the FAIR SHARE thing to have is a 401K system for government employees! Of course the unions and the cowardly state senate that took their quorum in hiding last year seem to disagree with Mr. Obama, and that public sector unions should have something UnFair in the Obama world!
No wonder Obama skipped-out on this recall debate,,,,,,,he just doesn't have a leg to stand on,with this one!!
Planeguy2-
The healthcare benefits and pension plans were fairly negotiated and agreed to by both sides, almost always in lieu of higher wages and raises. Now that healthcare costs are spiraling instead of renegotiating in good faith they want a "do-over"? How is that FAIR?
Eliminating collective bargaining - they no longer have to negotitate things, they just decide - how is that fair?
Planeguy, what planet do you live on where 96% of the private working force has a 401k pension plan? I'd like to live there, too.
The teachers' union agreed to everything that was asked of them - and Walker still took away their right to bargain. Looks like it was never about balancing the budget, but an ideological attack on the whole concept of unions.
Amy, You are distorting reality once again. He did move to take away their "right" to collectively bargain over "benefits" and to bring them more in line with private industry. Most in the private sector, pay for one-half of their health insurance costs with the employer picking up the balance.
Walker did not, however, move to curtail their right to bargain over basic pay. His focus was on the costly, out-of-line bennies that these unions had previously imposed.
The budget is balanced in Wisconsin. Maybe Obama will take notice and learn something about budgets.
Boo-Hoo-Hoo! He took away my sandbox! "Now "what am I to do?
Seriously people? Do you even think that the contracts were sustainable? You should be PO'd at someone, but it should be the union bosses who sold you a bill of goods that couldn't be backed; regardless how much money they printed!
And Layton; sorry; 96% of people that have pensions, are 401K's! Granted, some segments of society have to get IRA's.
So now that we know thye professional DNC paid bloggers are out in force, you can be critical of whatever you want, but unlike your leader; most people of sound mind realize that money doesn't grow on trees, and by taking a stand against dwindling funds, Walker actually saved many of the union jobs your so desperately trying to justify!
But I'm sure this makes too much sense to be considered constructivly!
"whatever!?!"
I'm wondering just why you good teachers out there, want to get lumped into the same basket as the useless POS's that are just milking the system and ticking everybody off?
I want to reward the good teachers in my community, and fire the parisites!
Sadly, it'll never happen because the union won't allow it! I think it's more than FAIR for a good teacher to get a merit raise - don't you?
Planeguy . . . . these are entirely different statements:
My point is that working in the private sector does not guarantee either.
Jim, please refrain from lying when making posts. The budget in Wisconsin is NOT balanced. Maybe YOU need to learn something about budgets...
And, yes, Walker essentially stole from those that had bargained in good faith. One can only hope that something similar would happen to you and to Planeguy so we could see if you would just be good boys and take it or realize you had been taken and do something about it.
President Obama should not have been in the Wisconsin debate.
The Democrat candidate did not want the president's "help".
you know, I know a lot of people that work at our GM plant here in IN. What I hear is the union protects a lot of people that should not have a job!! Employees smoking pot while working, screwing their coworkers while on the clock, leaving work to go drinking, while having other employees cover their ass while they are gone. PLEASE, sounds like 25.00 an hour is way to much for these pricks. This info came straight from a GM employee. The unions started out good, but they are as corrupt as our Gov. now!!
The economy crashes and Walker and the GOP has these people believing that it was greedy unions that screwed everything up.
plsthink90 - you "hear" those things, huh? Maybe the little voices in your head should alert you to the fact that you're just buying the GOP talking points - without proof! Of course it came from a GM employee - the one who sweeps the floors and can't get a union job, right?
Please - you're embarrassing yourself with that post!
hey ass wipe, I have heard it from a lot of employees. Can you read?? He worked on the line with everyone else. Yes, it really goes on. You libs think you know everything, get in the real world!! Oh, by the way these people are union employees.
plsthink90 - whoa - little testy are we? Means I was more than a little close to the truth. None of what you said is fact - just some unhappy workers rumors - nothing more. But you choose to state them as facts.
Pitiful!
plsthink90 that can be said about any organization, there will always be some workers who just don't do enough. But since your friend knows every-bodies job title and pay. It Must be true lololololololo
way to collapse my comment, it is the truth from many workers. You are a joke, if you can't handle the truth maybe you should get off here!! It is a fact!!
plsthink I guess in your world only Union Workers screw, drink and smoke pot Oh those bad boy and girl Union workers - while the rest of the country is pure
Let's take South Carolina a "right to work" state for low wages - I guess they don't screw, drink or smoke anything
I guess your right they can't afford to on their piddly wages - well I guess that's one way to control all this rampant sin - keep them poor!
plsthink90 - you've stated no facts - just what "someone told you."
plsthink90--------------------- my alcoa stock isn't doing so well maybe you could go to the store and stock up that should give it a 10% jump
I know the workers have a reason to lie right?? God, please, you guys are truely funny. The difference between a union and a non-union plant, is the nonunion plant would fire the wokers, in a union plant they are protected for their behavior.
wow, I struck a nerve with you libs, LOVE IT!! Have you guys been there and done that?? Must know all about it.
While our country crashes to pay for the tax cuts for the 1% lets blame the people and make them suffer instead.
The republicans are so worried about the 1% they want to give permanent tax cuts to the un-American companies that moved jobs out of America to communist China.
Think about it the republicans so hate communist that they are protecting the companies that are sending our jobs to communist China and want to protect the job creators from higher taxes so it still benefits them to send our jobs overseas.
The republicans so hate communist that they would rather give our tax dollars for interest to Communist China than ask our own rich to be patriots and share in the burden of republican pushed wars.
How does the republicans plan on doing more for China? More wars, more tax cuts for the rich, even more borrowing. Romney's budget increases the deficit.
How do you claim to be against communism when your every policy benefits China more than America?
hey wheels460- another 4 years of Obama, and you won't have to worry about your stocks because you will be broke.
plsthink90 - and if the GOP wins the White House we will no longer have a middle class.
So, plsthink90, you say things that don't agree with what you said yourself, then you get mad at everybody else, falling to the use of vulgarity (and then whining about being collapsed for it...perfect). You make unsubstantiated statements about others because you supposedly heard it third-party from somebody else. You denigrate an entire group of people because of this unsubstantiated hearsay. Yep. Perfect. Yet you have the temerity to say how bad liberals are? Seriously?
Now, back up your claim about Obama wiping out the stock market, which is higher than it has been in years. Do you have any idea what a tin-hat you sound like?
That's basically what I wrote in another comment on this subject. Unions have no place in society anymore. They're run by corrupt and greedy individuals who encourage and protect laziness and non-productivity. The reason all these slugs don't want the unions to go away is because they don't remember anymore how to do an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. They expect that, with a 10th or 12th grade education, they should be paid a rocket scientist's salary to sweep floors. That union mindset is why prices for everything are so high and why businesses are going offshore and taking their jobs with them.
Hey, Buster, any idea what you are talking about? Like to tear people down because of something you heard from somebody somewhere that may or may not be true? You think only union people are lazy? You think ALL union people are lazy? Nobody in a union believes in a fair day's work for a fair day's pay? You think all union members are lazy people with lower educations that want to be rich? Any idea how simplistic your post sounds, not to mention offensive?
I'm sure you don't care...too bad.
plsthink90 the first 4 yrs landed me a windfall in the stock market , your an idiot!!
If Walker is recalled the response should be obvious. Start a recall of the new-new guy--rinse and repeat!
Way to go Walker. The voters were heard, and you did what they asked. Now the "do it our way or else unions", don't want a balanced budget, just more, more, more for them!!
Try some reading before making statements like this. You'll sound more informed and less like an echo of talking points.
I wonder if Walker will spike the football. This will be a far better score than the killing of bin Laden.
Go Walker.
is will be a far better score than the killing of bin Laden.
Mary, the Scott, I assume you've lost your head?
You are seriously comparing taking out public enemy #1 to Walker?
Man, just when I thought the right wing delusions couldn't get any more ridiculous!
That's pretty messed up.
Mary the Scott - with that remark you trivialized the deaths of over 3000 people who died on 9/11. Proud of yourself?
Mary, you just hit a sore spot with these libs here. They desperately hold onto the only accomplishment they can attach to Obama's time as president, getting Bin Laden. And he did nothing other than say yes to going after Bin Laden after our intelligence folks located him. The seals got him and Obama sat in the White House watching it on TV. What a warrior.
Lanikai Ron - if her statement didn't hit a sore spot with every person on this site then my guess is you aren't much of an American. To even begin to equate the recall of Walker with the 9/11 tragedy is beyond sick. It is disgusting and unAmerican.
And our President actually made it a priority to get bin Laden - after Bush/Cheney said it was no longer important.
SeekingSanity, So you wil attack Lanikai Ron, saying he/she, is not much of an American if every person on this site does not agree with your opinion ? Wow ! You never had a college course in basic logic did you ?? Lanikai Ron is not responsible for the opinion of another poster !!
You, however, ARE responsible for your ongoing personal attacks on others ! The killing of Bin Laden was an easy decision that ANY sitting President would have made .... even Jimmy Carter !
But I guess not Bush, huh jim?
You finger-pointers are hilarious. And comparing Walker winning his race to the death of Bin Laden is sick. Really difficult to believe that even an extreme right-winger would run with that. But it is apparent that a political win is more important than ANYTHING else to the right.
Left Wing - Great post! But, it won't get traction from Jim (who also posts as Kirk). He just loves to do anything to slam anything he can possibly relate to Obama!
Democrats are so stupid I want to puke every time I read their sick comments. What selfish, greedy people.
Gee, BinAround...going for the maturity thing?
You missed.
@#19.12 Well, at least your screen moniker is appropriate.
First, I stand by my prior comment that one poster is not responsible for the comments of another. SeekingInsanity tries to tie that one on LanikaiRon. Then you jump in the boat with your $hitload of intended distortions... distortions intended to take the discussion in another direction.
Yes, Bush would have pulled the trigger to get Bin Laden. Obama was able to accomplish this only because of the enhanced interrogation techniques which gave intelligence useful information, eventually leading to Bin Laden's location. Bush got the ball rolling, Obama took credit for the results.
Prior to that, it was well published for years that Bin Laden's location was UNKNOWN for sure. You had to know where Bin Laden was hiding out before you could "take him out".
You're flailing...
Ron was defending an idiotic statement, using talking points that are baseless, therefore opening himself up for what he got.
What "intended distortions"? What different direction? Trouble with facts?
Yeah, Bush would have pulled the trigger. Except he didn't. Tora Bora. Enhanced interrogation? When are you righties going to drop this crap? First of all, "enhanced interrogation", known to thinking people as "torture", is illegal. It is an international crime. Secondly, it is known to provide more false information than reliable information. Bush got NO ball rolling, other than to let his henchman Cheney run amok. But it is the typical rightie that will whine about how "Obama blames Bush for everything but he hasn't been in office for years!" yet can crow "Bush is responsible for all the good things that Obama has done!". Amazing. Perhaps a bit hypocritical, though. By the way, would you be OK with "enhanced interrogation" being used on our fighting men and women by our enemies? Would that be OK?
The hideout of Bin Laden was apparently provided by a doctor in Pakistan, who has been sentenced to prison by the Pakistanis for his efforts. Nothing to do with "enhanced interrogation". Glad you brought it up.
Another great post, jim.
LWNJ,
Rant much ?
There were several pieces to the puzzle in finding Bin Laden. First was enhanced interrogation which got a name that was later linked to an Obama courier. Second, another name was further linked from that courier to an Obama contact thus providing a second link to Obama's location. Third, the good doctor collected DNA samples from those in the area which allowed for PINPOINTING his exact location. Sorry, you leftards are unable or unwilling to accept that MULTIPLE bits of intelligence were put together. Do some reading .... reading is fundamental and it may help bridge the short-circuits in your naive and simple thinking.
My post at #19.8 was to highlight the inflammatory remarks of "SeekingSanity" at #19.6 as she tried to label another poster as "un-American". I guess that went zzzzzzooooooooooooommmmmmm right over your head !
Again, as most libtards do on this site, you consider your OPINIONS as facts ! Epic failure by you.
jim...
It has been deemed by the heavens that it is always best to regard SeekingSanity's remarks as nothing more than vivid proof that she still hasn't found what she's looking for.
Obama used great military men to "score" political points.
Walker used great governance to persuade a majority of people to score political points and convince them his way is best.
Any f'ing idiot would have ordered the killing of bin Laden.
Liberals are so stupid.
Right, Americans are tired of the attacks.
Why IS the right-wing political machine attacking the American worker? And WHO is bankrolling the billion-dollar campaign?
When will the right-wing fascists and buffoons tell us who they really work for? It sure as hell isn't the American people.
I think, more likely, Americans are tired of the $$$$ controlling our legislators and legislative process.
Hey Tax The Rich Now, Moron... Go back to bed ... your an idiot...
Hey Vike; how would it be if EVERYONE paid their fair share of income taxes?
I'm talking about a set percentage of gross (not adjusted gross) income. No loopholes. No deductions...for anything.
If an individual earns $1 million per year, one pays a flat-rate based on a fixed % of that $1 million.
If one earns $10.00, one pays the same fixed flat-rate % on the $10.00.
If one pays nothing into the system; that's exactly what one get out of it.....nothing.
Everyone pays their fair share. What a concept.....nothing on this great, green Earth could be more fair or simple than that. All you'd need to figure out your taxes each year is a simple calculator that will calculate % and you're done in ten minutes.
State workers are working for the people, Walker represents the people. The greedy unions want to steal from everyone else. How about we tax union bosses 70% and union members 50%. I think that would be fair, put some of their overpaid dollars back in the system
I am an American worker and relied on my own education and talents to make a living. Didn't have to join a union to bully any employer. How about a little self reliance all you damocrats and union thugs.
BinAround - Unless you have been living this nightmare for the last 16 mos. it would behoove you to walk (and talk) a lot more softly. I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE the idea of being able to rely on my own education and talents to make a living - that's why I came to WI in 1995 for graduate school and remained at UW through my doctorate. I teach at one of UW's schools and have seen my job and my pay rate cut to almost nil. Sadly, I am typical of many of the educators in WI. Some asshat decides that public workers are the bad guy and sets about creating such a divisive culture in what used to be a wonderful state, that those whose careers were formerly deemed laudable were now vilified. It worked. In spades. Now, understand that I was not a union employee - didn't matter, I was an educator and that made me, in the blinkered eyes of many in this state, a self-entitled, overpaid, 'union-loving thug'. Last month, after paying my bills (including student loans for the advanced degrees I got in WI - oh, the irony!), I was left with $58 to get me through the rest of the month. And, by the end of last month, I had been informed that, since Walker's 'reforms' on public education, I actually owe the University money to the tune of $810!!! How does THAT work??? I'd like you to take a few minutes and think about how one goes through life with this sort of 'world upside-down' model. I swear, sometimes it feels as if we fell down the rabbit hole in this state.
What the loss of bargaining power in WI will mean is that employees here won't have a system of reliable, living wage standards to negotiate from. And employers will not be required to pay anything more than subsistence wages - who's gonna stop them? Even if the company was not unionized it still had to keep wages on a par with unionized companies lest they are unable to find workers. Sadly, no longer. When I disclosed my wage predicament on another forum yesterday a republican told me to stop being such a whiner. I didn't do it to 'whine' - I disclosed my personal experience so that many of those people outside looking in, could get a sense of how it feels to wear my shoes.
One more thing: The loss of collective bargaining, while really painful, is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to constituent disenchantment with Scott Walker. But, that is for another post - I simply wanted to address your comment on greedy unions, education and the perfect-world scenario that operates under the idea that: if you work hard you can make an honest living, that the company for whom you work values you as a human being and not a replaceable drone, and that all it takes to reach these halcyon shores is a little self-reliance. Have a nice day.
I share the despair that diligent, contributing Americans are experiencing, including those who serve in the public sector. But I think the disconnect is this: Public sector employees get up everyday with the expectation that there is no downside to their income or job security. People who work in the private sector get up everyday and KNOW that they have to bring their A game to their job, or they are replaceable - with 2 weeks notice. Plus, employment in the private sector expands and contracts with, among other things, demand for the service, funding, international trade circumstances, etc. In the public sector there are few mechanisms to adjust for changing economies or demand or poor performance. I have paid for my own health insurance for years. I have built my employment opportunities over the years, and work for several small companies, which was a deliberate effort to help reduce the vagaries of each company's business cycle and style vis-a-vis the economy. So, as one company has had to cut my hours/income by more than 50% over the past 8 years, the other two have increased my hours/income. I rolled with it, training myself in new areas, expanding my skills, and thus my value to the companies. This is what the private sector does: We adapt. We are fleixble. Unfortunately, the structure of the public sector does not encourage this kind of behavior; rather it accommmodates complacency. The public sector has made unrealistic promises to their employees, and frankly, it doesn't take a great mathematical genius to figure out that the public sector cannot continually expand without collapsing, and the private sector cannot continue to fund the excesses.
Whether Walker wins back (or retains) his seat is unknown to us all at this time. What I believe is that his election was a mistake. Like Bush, he won on certain principles cleverly articulated. Then once in office, he proceded to carry out his own agenda. No question that for some people, Power Corrupts! If he retains his position, then other (conservative) states will attempt to lay down similar conservative agendas, regardless of what the populace wants. So sad. And in a democracy! God is watching!
Dan - Actually Bush as it turns out won by his brother purging the tax rolls - 576 votes and 8,700 voters were purged
The Bush Cartel was alive and well and we got screwed
Same as Carter - when the Bush Cartel - sent the CIA agent Casey to hold the hostages for arms
The Republican Party and their dirty tricks have worked fot thirty years - time to wake up - we-ve been had
Barbara is getting her excuses ready early. Another leftie is crying early because she has no confidence in the final vote results. Unemployment is down, property taxes are down, the huge Wisconsin deficit is down ...... and all the Democrats are down !
The lieutenant governor and 4 senators are also up for recall. Walker could win as governor and still loose the senate and have a democrat as lieutenant governor. And the sun will still come up in the East!
The Democrat representatives that ran to another state to avoid doing the work of the people are the ones that need to be sent packing. I can't wait to see the wailing from the regulars here after the failed recall of Walker. He has done more for the citizens of Wisconsin than anybody recently before him, by addressing the out of control spending of his predecessors who bought union votes with tax payer dollars.
Me too, ron. I hate everything the damocrats stand for.
BinAround - Actually What did the Democrats stand for? Not wanting to have their state turned into a "right to work" state where wages would be depressed?
Or maybe they valued their teachers and not have a billion dollars cut for education with larger classes - oh wait Republican agenda Charter Schools - run by Corporations and the lower income kids groveling in the streets because their parents cannot afford these schools
Bring us back to 18th Century Europe and have all these urchins without access to education
Maybe we should bring back the work houses
As an aside - Texas does not teach sex education - and a young man in college coming from Texas - asked his Professor "CAN I GET CERVICAL CANCER?"
Is this what you want? Well you got it - ignorance about life and sex - Good luck
Actually Mr. Walker, the PEOPLE are tired of our elected officials (both dems and reps) representing the interests of business and industry to the detriment of the quality of life of the public. THAT, sir, is what we are tired of.
"Honk if you love Cheeses"
if the elected official is ineffective or breaks the law, they should be the subject of a recall and/or arrest. Walker is just being a sore loser because he is the subject of the recall. If it does kick off more recalls, so be it.
Its called democracy, scott.
Scott sounds like the boyfriend you are trying to leave and he has to resort to threats cause you aren't buying his lies anymore.
so you don't like it when the vote goes against your gravy train. tough sh8t.
Some things to ponder:
1) Unless a woman is on her knees or on her back, she does not deserve any money. That's why god put them here, to make children.
2) Public unions need to all be abolished. I don't care that you want your pension. Invest in a Roth or annuities like the rest of us.
3) The only time I'll ever give a woman money is if she's dancing nude or riding my dilzick.
What a lot people are really sick of here is the attacks on what has worked for us in the past, and still works for us. This is not a state that is in trouble or needed some sort of big fix. Once they realized they had a super majority they decided to start ripping off public sector employees (who do a pretty good job) and handing it over to their contributors.
A lot of the recall motivationis is deception of the Republicans, that's what really pissed people off. Well over a million people signed the recall petition and that is a lot more than just the union people in Wisconsin.
I predict Gov. Walker will win with 51.7% of the vote. The rational democrats will elect him, to stop the unsustainable policies of the irrational democrats and their allies, the union thugs.
I predict you will be deceased soon and reincarnated as a crustacean.
