President Barack Obama pauses in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on the White House Campus in Washington. Wednesday, May 30,2012, before signing the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank Act of 2012.
Friday’s jobs report was a perception-changer… This is going to be a very close race… But here’s something about perception: It can always change again … The White House’s current dilemma after Friday’s jobs numbers: What does it do now? ... Here’s one answer: hit Romney with a new TV ad … One day out until tomorrow’s Wisconsin recall … Breaking down Tuesday’s other races … And Elizabeth Warren gets back on track a bit.
*** A perception-changer: As we and our NBC/WSJ pollsters have been saying for the past few months, this presidential contest is a 50-50 race. But many, including plenty of Democrats, haven’t believed it. Yet Friday’s disappointing jobs report -- just 69,000 jobs created in May and the unemployment ticked up to 8.2 percent -- changed that perception in the blink of an eye, driving home for some holdouts the very real chance that President Obama could lose. It wouldn’t be correct to say he’s the underdog; he still has plenty of advantages as the incumbent, and the electoral map is probably his biggest. But what Friday did was erase the perception that Obama is the clear favorite heading into November. It also kick-started a new round of the Acela Corridor’s “What’s wrong with Obama?” handwringing (see: Dowd, Maureen.)
*** If things change, though, they can change again: But don’t forget: Things, including perception, can always change again. Last October -- when Obama called himself the “underdog” -- his job-approval rating in the NBC/WSJ poll was at 44 percent; the country and the economy were just emerging from the debt-ceiling drama; and, perhaps most important, the U.S. economy had created fewer than 100,000 jobs for four consecutive months during the summer. But the situation then changed for Obama: The economy began to add jobs at a stronger pace (more than 200,000 over a six-month stretch from September through February); memories of the debt-ceiling debate had faded; and the divisive GOP presidential primary took center stage. So it’s very possible, beginning with next month’s jobs report, that things could change again. But here’s a rule of thumb: Brace yourself for a VERY close election in November. Indeed, a new CNN poll released Friday had it Obama 49 percent, Romney 46 percent among registered voters.
*** Another tough summer for Team Obama? That said, all the current signs out there -- Friday’s jobs data, the economic worries in Europe, and the slowing Chinese economy -- are pointing to the start of yet another tough summer for Obama. In 2010, it was the BP spill and the initial Greek debt crisis; in 2011, it was the debt-ceiling debacle. But after that debt-ceiling debate, Team Obama channeled its inner Harry Truman and campaigned against a do-nothing Congress. And, to a large degree, politically, that worked. But here is the White House’s current dilemma: What do they do now? For one thing, they hope the May report was just a blip and that things can change, as we said above. The president on Friday used a phrase we hadn’t heard from him before about waiting for the fever to break, regarding the economy. Again, that falls under the category of simply “hope.” But they also will try to disqualify Romney, which brings us to…
*** New Obama ad hits Romney: Today, the Obama campaign has released a brand-new TV ad hitting Romney and his economic stewardship in Massachusetts. It will air in CO, FL, IA, NC, NH, NH, NV, OH, PA, and VA. “When Mitt Romney was governor, Massachusetts lost 40,000 manufacturing jobs -- a rate twice the national average,” the ad goes. “And fell to 47th in job creation, fourth from the bottom. Instead of hiring workers from his own state, Romney outsourced call center jobs to India. He cut taxes for millionaires like himself while raising them on the middle class.” The ad concludes, “So now, when Mitt Romney talks about what he’d do as president -- 'I know what it takes to create jobs' -- remember, we’ve heard it all before.” The Romney camp responds with this statement: "Having abandoned ‘Hope and Change,' the Obama campaign only ‘Hopes To Change The Subject' from an abysmal jobs report. We're happy to compare the 4.7 percent unemployment rate Mitt Romney achieved in Massachusetts to President Obama’s weak record any day.” By the way, it was interesting to see Team Romney unveil a new way to slice up the jobs data for Romney’s tenure in Massachusetts. Our question: Why did you wait until now? The 47th in job creation was a staple for the entire primary campaign and yet, no pushback like we saw this weekend. As the Boston Globe writes, the Romney camp has never disputed the accuracy of the 47th charge.
*** Wisconsin recall: One day away: Today is the final full day of campaigning before tomorrow’s Wisconsin recall. And here’s what we’ve gathered: Scott Walker’s (R) numbers seem to have stalled, but he’s at or near 50 percent. But Democrats think Tom Barrett (D) is gaining ground. If Barrett and Democrats narrowly lose tomorrow, expect there to be plenty of second-guessing why President Obama and the national Democratic Party didn’t play a bigger role in this recall. In fairness to the White House, though, things like recalls run counter to its philosophy -– which would rather work with the Olympia Snowes of the world (even if unsuccessful) than politically charge up the hill. In fact, what’s going on in Wisconsin is this referendum: Is political change better achieved through compromise and reconciliation (what the Obama White House has always preferred)? Or through a take-no-prisoners approach (Walker’s and, well, to a lesser degree, many elements of the progressive movement)?
The stakes remains high in Wisconsin as voters head to the polls Tuesday to vote in the recall election for Gov. Scott Walker.
*** Tomorrow’s other races: In fact, tomorrow is shaping up to be a big political day. In addition to the Wisconsin recall, five states hold primaries, including California (where Berman-Sherman will head to overtime, we promise you that), New Mexico (where Martin Heinrich and Hector Balderas are competing in a Dem SEN primary) and New Jersey (where the Bill Clinton-backed Bill Pascrell faces off against the Obama-backed Steve Rothman in that member-vs.-member race).
*** Warren gets back on track a bit: After a rough month, Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren (D) got some good news over the weekend. The Boston Globe: “Elizabeth Warren steamrolled little-known Marisa DeFranco in winning the endorsement of the Democratic State Convention Saturday. She then proceeded to give the highly partisan crowd what they had traveled to Springfield for: an eloquent argument against Scott Brown’s U.S. Senate candidacy. After a month of struggling to answer questions about her alleged Native American roots, Saturday marked a return — at least for one day — to the kind of adoration that marked her entry into the Senate race.”
Countdown to WI recall: 1 day
Countdown to GOP convention: 84 days
Countdown to Dem convention: 91 days
Countdown to Election Day: 155 days

Voter Repression in Florida
When Rick Scott, Republican, was elected Governor in 2010, one of the first things he did following his swearing in was to: revoke the voting privilege given to ex felons by the previous Republican Governor Charlie Christ. Then he had passed an omnibus law order whereby any legal entity such as the League of Women Voters( thefloridavoter.org/resources/issues/hb-1355-elections-law), which he then followed by ordering cutbacks in Early Voting days and time, from 14 days to 8 and a stipulation there be not voting hours on the Sunday prior to the election, a traditional day for African Americans to go vote after attending church services.
His Secretary of State, Ken Browning was tasked with compiling a massive data base of alleged “non-citizens” voters. In February 2011 Ken Browning resigned, citing “we are not confident enough about the data for this secretary to hang his hat on it”.
On May 31st 2012:
Portions of the statute severely restrict registration drives and place “harsh and impractical” limits on groups that conduct them, U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle in Tallahassee said in a May 31 ruling. He blocked requirements that voter-drive groups turn over completed materials to the state within 48 hours or face possible $1,000 fines. The two-day window, previously 10 days, makes no provision for mailing applications and serves little, if any, purpose, Hinkle said.
The voter law requires that groups give the names of every officer or volunteer who solicits and collects applications. Registration agents must sign a form that states it’s a felony, subject to a five-year prison term, to submit applications that include false information -- even if they don’t know or have any reason to believe the information is false, Hinkle said in his decision.
The form “is just wrong,” the judge said. “Requiring a volunteer not only to sign such a statement, but to swear to it, could have no purpose other than to discourage voluntary participation in legitimate, indeed constitutionally protected, activities.”
The League of Women Voters of Florida, which sued last year to overturn provisions of the law, said many groups had stopped registering voters because of the legislation.
“Laws that make it harder to participate in the public process should be rejected,” Lee Rowland, an attorney for the Brennan Center for Justice, which represented the group, said in a May 31 conference call. She said she hoped the decision “will help turn the tide” in a surge of restrictive state voting laws.
A new Secretary of Ken Detzner now has a list of 182,000 to be purged, for the first few weeks of this effort, over 2 thousand letters were sent, two of our citizens who have received letters, one a native of Ohio, has lived and voted in the same county for over 40 years and the other a 91 yr old WW11 vet has lived in and voted in Fl for more than 10yrs, prior to that he lived and voted in Brooklyn where he was born.
Also on May 31, the Justice Department wrote Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner, warning that a state program to identify ineligible voters may violate federal law, including one aimed at reviewing voter limits in states such as Florida with a history of racial discrimination. The U.S. told the state to respond by June 6 whether it will cease the practice.
The State of Florida is resisting this effort by the DOJ, however, many of the Supervisors of Elections have decided not to pursue the Secretary of State directives and will no longer send any more letters.
Florida Governor Rick Scott, a Republican, who signed the registration law and ordered the purge, has called both a way to reduce election fraud. Florida Democratic Party Chairman Rod Smith countered that Republicans are using the rules to help presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney beat President Barack Obama, a Democrat. The law was sponsored by Republicans and passed both Republican-controlled houses of the legislature by a 2 to 1 margin. With 29 electoral votes, Florida is the biggest prize among states both campaigns view as competitive.
There are a number of states who have enacted voter suppression of one kind or another and their Republican Governors are aiding and abetting this travesty, one has to ask why? The five worst are: Florida, Wisconsin, Texas, Kansas, and Tennessee.
www.americanprogress.org/issues/2012/04/voter_suppression.html
In Florida, those targeted are predominantly Democrat, African American, Hispanic, the elderly, the young, these all overwhelmingly voted for President Obama in 2008. Republicans repeatedly shout from the rooftops, that the conservative way is the ‘right’ way, if that is the case, why do they feel the necessity to make it harder for people to vote. Let us have a true referendum on their ‘values’ and plans for the country, let the chips fall where they may. Why do they have to resort to repressing voters? Or to put it another way, cheat to win?
Remember this, prior to the 2000 election, in Florida, 12,000 voters were purged from the voter rolls, George Bush ‘won’ the state by less the 600 votes. Following that debacle, the private company hired by the state of FL who’s Governor at the time was Jeb Bush, admitted that their work was flawed.
www.usccr.gov/pubs/vote2000/report/main.html
I, for one, do not want to repeat that mistake. Do you??
For Florida voters, to be eligible you must be registered 29 days prior to election day.
Voting Dates: Primary: August 14, 2012, deadline for registration 7/16/12
General Election: Nov 6, 2012 deadline for registration 10/09/12
Well… well… well… Once again, truth is stranger than fiction!
Will you look at this little "gem"?
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/06/03/494145/romney-claimed-now-bankrupt-solar-company-would-become-a-major-economic-springboard-in-2003-speech/
Does this mean the Solyndra attack will go Pfffft!
Shake that Etch-A-Sketch... baby!
How Crazy Is This?
Surfing the internet there were a lot of crazy stories; like a North Carolina bill that would require coastal communities to ignore global warming science. How is that for sticking your head in the sand?
Then there was the GOP congressman who suggested "Let's hurl some acid at those female Democratic senators." How is that for a war on women?
National Review writer Jonah Goldberg believes that conservatives should beat up young people who "think Socialism is better than Capitalism". How is it that Jonah doesn't know that beating up people is a crime, but having a thought different than his is not a crime?
The Daily Advertiser newspaper in Louisiana writes that President Obama is conspiring to murder Catholics and Christians. How is that for being part of a hate group?
The Big News:
But the big news has to do with Governor Rick Scott's attempt to suppress people from voting in Florida. On Friday a federal judge blocked a section of Florida's Voter Suppression Law that placed harsh restrictions on third parties, like the League of Women Voters. Simply put, that section of the law was unconstitutional and groups can again register Floridians so they can vote in November.
It is well documented that Governor Rick Scott has a list of 182,000 names whom he claims are not entitled to vote. Approximately 58% are people of color, namely blacks and Latinos. His rationale for purging these people is that he is attempting to reduce voter fraud, ignoring the fact that less than 10 people in Florida have been accused of voter fraud.
Over the weekend the Department of Justice has demanded that Governor Scott and the 67 election supervisors end their extensive purge of registered voters. All 67 election supervisors have complied with the DOJ's demand—but not Governor Scott. At this point he is defying the federal warning as he is attempting to do whatever he can to put Florida's 29 electoral votes in the Republican column.
What is most distasteful about Governor Scott's actions is that the right to vote is one of America's most sacred rights. It is the foundation of our Republic. Soldiers, seamen, and aviators have given their lives so we can vote. Yet Governor Scott doesn't seem to care about that. It is no wonder that he is America's most disliked governor.
I was looking at my May brokerage and IRA statements online over the weekend. I came away with one absolute conclusion: The incompetent moron currently residing in the White House has to be replaced. The wealth destruction for tens of millions of Americans with retirement accounts caused by his last two sh!tty jobs reports is hard to overstate. Yeah, yeah, I already know he “inherited” this economy. But, he’s had 3 and a half years and, while the job losses have turned around, the economy is still stuck in neutral with no real prospects for higher growth in the foreseeable future. And he has presided over the creation of a huge fiscal cliff for the economy to drive off shortly after the election with the disasters of the need to increase the debt ceiling, the sequestration of huge parts of the federal budget, and the largest tax increase in history. Nice going Barry.
Obama 2012 It could be worse
Give me four more years and I’ll prove it
It occurred to me last night while fixing dinner we are deep into the word games the MSM likes to play!
While listening to NBC Nightly News, I heard Mike Vequira (sp?) report that 60 million dollars has been spent so far on the WI recall elections by "out of state unions & outside interest groups", deceptively leaving the viewer to believe unions have spent the most money!
Is it to much to ask the MSM to report at least some resemblance of truth?
Outside interest groups have OUTSPENT Democrats by a 20:1 margin!
Folks it it up to YOU to fact check everything your told by the media - the fourth estate has already began their spin...
And it wil only go downhill from here!
The non-partisan CBO reported that the jobs "created/saved" by the $800 billion plus stimulus cost $4.1 million per job. Now that's efficiency.
Joe,
The retirement accounts only make the Wall Street guys money, not you and me.
I suggest you become a day trader....have a nice week.
BTW, Cooper River salmon is now in my local stores. Had a nice fillet last night.
Can't we all just admit that this administration has been a failed experiment? It is time to MOVE ON.
The only redeeming quality of this administration is the fact that the progressive/liberals have really shown their agenda and it has been rejected by the majority of Americans. It could be the end of the democrat party control for years to come. One can only hope.
1/20/21013 - the end of an error
Northstar - You need to try Alsek River salmon - hard to find, but worth the search.
Ben (numbers)
Nothing is wrong with spot checks. Depriving 182,000 registered the right to vote is not a spot check. No, I am neither a liar or baby. Sometimes the truth is hard for the right wingers to accept. Now go take a pill and calm down.
P.S. -- Governor Scott told the incompetent, irresponsible, partisan Justice Department to "GO TO HELL!!!!" Good for you Governor.
@Lady Ron -- Where is there proof the there are 182,000 deprived to vote??? The ones spot checked have a chance to prove otherwise -- a chance that I will step up to the plate and prove every time I am asked. I am proud to be an American and everyone who is a legal American should be proud to hold up their ID for the right to vote. You are both.
First Read: For one thing, they hope the May report was just a blip and that things can change,
3 and a half years later and First Read is still spreading manure about Hope and Change.
You guys are pathetic. Don't you folks get tired of carrying Obama's water?
“What’s wrong with Obama?”
Geez, I could go on all day. For starters, how about the fact that he hasn't got a plan to fix the economy? Sitting on your hands and hoping the economy will fix itself doesn't count.
The retirement accounts only make the Wall Street guys money, not you and me.

Maybe YOU don't make money with your retirement accounts. I have done fairly well over the years. I've had my share of losers, as well as winners, but, net I'm much better off than if I had put my money in CD's or the mattress.
BTW, Cooper River salmon is now in my local stores. Had a nice fillet last night.

I hope you really had Copper River salmon, otherwise you were ripped off.
Gingerbread Mamma, Feisty, and Ron:
I don't know if I want to thank you for knocking the stuffing out of me this early in the morning. It's ALMOST unbelievable. The NC coastline story is a mind-bender. I just wonder why the NC legislature didn't take the next logical step and set the freezing point for water at 40-degrees. Voila - no global warming.
Take a continuing flow of stories like that and the fact that Republicans remain a viable political force in America, and you have to wonder if our water supplies haven't been laced with LSD. The right-wing faction of the Republican Party is terrifyingly stupid.
Within two hours, they will have collapsed many of the posts here. That's how much they value the free flow of information.
I've read of a number of lefties who are dissatisfied with President Obama. They say they aren't going to vote. They're going to hold their breath until they turn blue. Really? Not voting is a vote. It means you're just fine with a Republican takeover. The right-wing crazies vote, the left-wing lazies who stay home are their friends. A lot of us think the President could have done more. Fact is, he probably couldn't, but I'm sure not going to pout and let Romney win by default. Grow up!
Vote G.O.P. - Suicide by Republican
So what you're saying is Romney found out 8 years ago that solar is an uneconomic dead end?
Seems the Germans and Chinese are beginning to reach the same conclusion.
Where as the oil and gas industry (big oil) is saving manufacturing millions in energy costs and employing people.

Obama is sinking in the polls, so what do the Libbies want to talk about? 1) So-called "voter repression", you know, states verifying their voter rolls are legal - how dare those states do their job. 2) What Romney did 20 years ago as governor. At least he was governor and ran something. 3) What Romney did at Bain. Be totally successful apparently, at least if you ask Bill Clinton. 4) Explain the Unions pending loss in Wisconsin. But there isn't a rug big enough to sweep that mess under. Did Obama every get his "comfy-shoes" on and march with his union brothers and sisters he's beholden to? Just ask'n. 5) "Perceptions" seem to be big with Libs. With rising unemployment a falling GDP, and record break deficits, it's not too difficult to get a not so good perception about the the total failure in the White House. Mix in some retread lines about "global warming" and you've got the essence of the Democrat/Liberal party - they really don't have much to talk about.
Dear Mr. President, please don't get down about the jobs report. The jobs will come back, just give it time. Keep hitting Romney on his LIES, his disregard for people and their jobs, his arrogance and disrespect for women and their needs, and his total LACK of understanding of the wants and needs of the average working American. And this clown wants to be President? Give me a break.
By the way Willard, WHERE ARE YOUR TAX RETURNS?
OBAMA IN .
Joe in Albany
you have such a selective memory. You complain about your 401K TODAY!?????? Because you are a few dollars down while you were UP UP UP until now?????
Do you remember 2008 when most lost their ENTIRE LIFE SAVINGS?????
Holy crap, you people have double standards! You b!tch about a few points down today - any comments on the 70 year-olds who had to go back to work because of the financial meltdown?????
Hey lying Feisty. Put this up your - - - and smoke it:

priceless. JAS1, when I thought you could not stopp any lower, you prove me wrong.
Good Morning David,
Amazing how comments with factual information are being targeted, while rabid, name calling & irrational hatred of President Obama are left standing...
I for one, am proud of what he has accomplished, given he has met road blocks at every turn!
*shakes head*
Not for college grads, unemployment fell to ~3.9%. Just proves to show in a world with better techonology, those with better educations are more necessary.
Uh...GDP is actually rising, but feel free to just spew complete fabrications.
Well duh, if you look at raw numbers. Economists tend to weigh % GDP a little (lot) more heavily. But I'd probably have a better chance of teaching a rock calculus.
lol yesterday feistyred' basically called me a liar for pointing out to her that cnn reported that unions spent 50 million to recall walker.
hey red'.....hows your fact finding coming along today ?, LOL
(now she will personally attack me)
Reports out that Holder and Axlerod almost came to blows -- chest to chest. Axlerod refused to give the details (I wonder what he is hiding?). I wonder which one is the "Bully?" Although neither could punch themselves out of a wet paper bag.
@Ruken -- would you please provide links to back up your ummmm facts?
It was probably the weather. It was too hot where it should have been cooler, and too cold where it should have been warmer, too rainy where it should have been dry, and too dry where it should have rained. For sure it was the weather.
Next months bad report will be because the sun was in our eyes, except where it shouldn't have been raining, but it was.
Waiting for the fever to break . . . . .
I can't believe that the dems are dumb enough to compare Konarka and Solyndra. Let's look at the facts. Romney allowed $1.5 million tax dollars to go to Konarka in 2003. The company just filed for banruptcy? It is 2012 isn't it? How many Americans held jobs for 8 years because of a small government investment? Obama allows $500 million tax dollars to go to Solyndra (that's half a billion folks). How many jobs did that create for how many years? NO COMPARISON.
Another laugh a minute from the lefties.
Post a link to back it up like I asked you last night or you still a liar...
I've read your work & it's hardly considered credible!
Sorry, I won't just take your word for it!

GDP.
Any more brain busters?
JH -- It shows they are struggling. They are sinking in quicksand and grasping at every lie to pull themselves out -- to no avail.
GBM: Rick Scott must think we are not paying attention or have very short memories.
"Remember this, prior to the 2000 election, in Florida, 12,000 voters were purged from the voter rolls, George Bush ‘won’ the state by less the 600 votes. Following that debacle, the private company hired by the state of FL who’s Governor at the time was Jeb Bush, admitted that their work was flawed."
This is the only significant voter fraud we have had in Florida and preventing Democrats from voting in November hardly seems an appropriate solution to what happened in 2000.
This should not be a close race if you consider the "master-minds" that met shortly after Obama's inaugeration have tried to stymie every attempt the President has made to grow our economy. The closeness is driven by the media's need to sell advertising, regardless of content, those willing to take the lies at face value AND a concerted effort by republican governors in swing states to disenfranchise selected groups of voters.
Keep up the good work GBM; excellent post, as always.
Ron in Indiana
How crazy is this
It is the foundation of our Republic. Soldiers, seamen, and aviators have given their lives so we can vote. Yet Governor Scott doesn't seem to care about that. It is no wonder that he is America's most disliked governor
Ron
You have made the valid points about the Lies, distortions, and hate coming from right wing media
BTW: everything about the rightwing media is crazy!!!
Florida elected a governor who stole from Medicare. Now Florida wants to steal the General Election for the 2nd time.

Democrats are the best at playing the "blame game". Think about this.....Democrats have had 2/3rds of the power in Washington since 2006.....100% of the power from 2008-2010......yet everything is always somebody or something else's fault. It's never their fault or their failed policies....it's always the Republicans fault or the blame is laid on some uncontrollable circumstance. Will Democrats ever step up and accept responsibility for anything.........other than the good they can spin out of the bad? Seriously, are Democrats so weak and pathetic that they can't accomplish what they want with 2/3rds or 100% control of the government? If so....perhaps 2012 is the year to make the donkey obsolete!!
U.S. factory orders fell 0.6% in April from March. Orders were expected to rise 0.2%.
Common Sense Mike:
Come around more often and you might learn something. Your numbers are completely false, and the lie - it's not a misunderstanding any longer; it's a lie - has been debunked here so many times, it's ridiculous.
If I were you I wouldn't worry about the donkey becoming obsolete. Your concern should be about ignorant asses.
Gingerbread Mamma - I always thought the traditional day for voting was on the day of the election not the Sunday before.
Even Red State Scarborough was forced to admit on his show this morning that its not Obama "Its the world Economy Collapsing" that is causing the problem. Then this @!$%# face goes out and blames Obama this guy is a real tool along with the rest of the Republican Party.
Face it folks there is nothing anyone can do untill Europe gets it's @!$%# together including the Republicans.
I can tell you one thing if the Republicans hold the government were in for a world of pain
@Lady David -- That is laughable. No one can learn anything from lies spouted by the left. Just because you say it is debunked doesn't make it so. The buck stops at the leader and he has failed to rally his party and has made enemies of his adversaries. For the best of this country, this POtuS needs to exit. The left are the ignorant, blind asses on here.
P.S You have no right telling anyone else what they should do or worry about -- least ways you.
Dearest David......are you trying to tell me that Democrats didn't take control of the Senate and House in 2006....and that Democrats didn't have the Senate, House, and the White House from 2008-2010? Or are you trying to say that Democrats don't have control of the Senate and White House now?
Or....are you trying to say that Republicans are so strong that they are capable of controlling everything from the minority position? Just wondering which number you feel are "completely false and a lie"?
And for the record....when I said "perhaps it's time to make the donkey obsolete"....it was the "ignorant asses" that have a (D) behind their name that I was referring to.
Ben-636050
All 67 of Florida's election supervisors have told their medicare fraud king of a governor to GO TO HELL. A judge also blocked his attempt to impose "harsh and impractical" restrctions on groups trying to register voters, such as that left lib outfit known as the League of Women Voters. Looks like Scotts scheme to repeat history and steal the election isn't working out quite so well for him.
Let's take a moment to reflect on the late, great, USA. We weren't perfect, we were flawed, but we had such great potential for good. For a brief time we were that great shining city on the hill. We were the light of freedom. But the flame of liberty is dying and when it finally goes out we will become the very evil we have fought for so long to overcome. As the last of the greatest generation dies out so does the dream they fought and died to preserve. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it and so it goes.
Between now and November the news media will chronicle every hiccup in the economy with predictions of doom and gloom for the Obama administration. They will do everything they can to lay the blame at the President's feet and by doing so they will create a self-fulfilling prophecy.
What happened to the outrage over the Koch Brothers? Citizens United? The almighty 2% (for which Mr. Romney is the poster boy)? Where is the outrage over the baseless attacks on the healthcare reform act? Where is the news media who exposed the Watergate scandal and drove a crooked President from office? Where are the watch dogs of liberty? They have been co-opted by the giant corporations they work for. They have become members of the 2%. They have become a tool of their own destruction.
And what of the rest of us?
We have become a nation of propaganda-fed lemmings rushing headlong to our destruction as well.
So, here we are again. The same tired voices spouting the same tired rhetoric as if anybody is really listening or seriously considering the alternatives and what they mean for the 98%. We wouldn't know the truth if we fell face first into it.
We have a good man in the White House doing a good job to address the world-wide economic crisis that he inherited. He's accomplished so much during his brief time in office. But you wouldn't know that by listening to the MSM or the right-wing propagandists who fill the national airwaves, the public's airwaves, with their lies and half-truths.
I will vote for the President in November, but my vote will not be counted here in the reddest of the red states where we have one-party government and our part-time legislature has made full-time fools of us all. Because of an antiquated electoral college and a "winner take all" election process my vote will be meaningless and my fate and the fate of our country will rest in the hands of the rest of you.
I fear we are doomed. My words fall on deaf ears. It's Berlin, 1933, deja vu all over again as Yogi said.
So, bye-bye Miss American Pie. Will the last real American turn out the lights when you leave please?
I"ll see you in Costa Rica.

Isn't it strange how the GOP/TEA BAGGERS want government to limit THEIR decisions and rights, but DEMAND that the government limit the rights of EVERYONE else?
What are terrifyingly stupid are Marxist and anyone who even considers voting for BO again, absolutely terrifying. Stupid is as stupid does.
For the record I am not a BIG R.
For all those sticking to the "gloom and doom" about the economy to elect Romney. Just remember that American's are spending more not less (and not more for gas as its falling).
Expect Americans to take vacations, go on trips and spend money this summer. Come time to go back to school look for the economy and jobs to move upward.
As for Florida and their "voter suppression" campaign. Look for the feds to intervene soon, and for court challenges to move forward.
Gotta love Republican throwing Solyndra in Obama's face when Romney had Konarka. I guess we'll throw that in Romney's face.
As for Obama blaming Bush. Don't you remember that Bush blamed Clinton for 8 years.
I figure Obama has 4 more years to blame Bush.
No reasonable person should ever be surprised at any republican rhetoric and/or dictums and policies constructed therefrom. These people tow various lines that often present manifestations akin to imaginings of a group of monkey's dosed with methamphetamine while coming off a drunk. "David Walker", "Fiesty", and all the good thinking people who post here; hang in there with your hammers. Truthfully, I get more weary reading the ridiculous claptrap of these splinter heads than answering them. A fools reality is always only, that which supports the folly of the fool. Regards
Could you provide an example of how Bush blamed Clinton for anything please? Well, other than the media reports of how the Clinton's took all the china and silverware....which I don't remember the Bush's actually saying anything about.
Post the source for this piece of opinion. Outside interest groups INCLUDE out of state unions, which ARE Democrats.
Time heals, the job picture will get better....
Mitt the MisFit has no chance.
Hey Mac....excellent example of leftist tactics.....when the truth unveils the lies you support, insult those telling the truth.
INCEST IS IN!
If you vote one party, that is.
Because neither the Republicans or Democrats fix the economy, even though they try to sell you peanut butter covered s**t that they do.
Either they won't fix the economy, or they can't. If they can't, they keep spending millions in elections to lie to you that they can, and the only people who believe them are the inbred fans of only one party or the other. It isn't unlike the incest that went on in royal families. We here in American just made our own incest pools and call them Democrats and Republicans.
Obama was on his way to losing the people that elected him; when he out republicans the republicans and turned the entire economy over to Geitner and the chase/goldman cartel; the fed has pumped more money into the economy in the last 4 years, than in the last 40 years; China central bank, is cashing in their dollars for gold, who knows how much is left in Ft.Knox, it can't be much, Saudi Arabia, Dubai,European central banks all cashing in fed notes for Gold, they all know what is heading our way, I hope and pray that a a Nation we can survive what is going to be a unbelievable collapse.
Houston -- Trying to mix apples and oranges huh? The election supervisors don't like having their efficiency ranked and publicly reported. Ahhhhh toooo bad. The babies need ranked. The other controversy you mention is about a law passed by the legislature last year concerning requiring voter registration groups a shorter window in which to file their paperwork. I applaud any state where there have been voting problems in the past to try to stop problems.
Not worried at all, once the debates start, and Willard will have to give specifics on economics and foreign policy, the numbers will come back!!!!
I can see it now. Romney will try and dog him on foreign policy and Obama will call off all the terroriest that are dead. i can't wait, then the economic number all over the word and willard will see that the united stated is one of the only country that has has positive growth, very low but positive.
france, china and japan can't say that.
@Common Sense Mike #1.49: Why thank You, but how the hell would you know?
@Eric -- Are you that stupid??? There is no comparison between Solyndra and Konarka. What a dweeb.
bayllie
Romney's investment in 85 jobs for 8 years amounts to 1.4 million hours of good American jobs for an investment of $1.5 million. Pretty good investment if you ask me. How did the investment in Solyndra work out per hour?
Beverly - your 1.4 comment was much less intelligent that your standard low comments. WTF did you mean?
Why not?
Common Sense Mike, you asked:
Yes, Mike that's exactly what I'm trying to do. It's up to you to either accept the facts or continue to deny them. You'll find an exact timeline below.
January 3, 2009 - 111th Congress sworn in. 55 Democrats, 41 Republicans, 2 Independents, 2 vacant.
January 15, 2009 - Roland Burris sworn in to Barack Obama's seat. 56 Democrats, 41 Republicans, 2 Independents, 2 vacant.
April 30, 2009 – Arlen Specter changes parties. 57 Democrats, 40 Republicans, 2 Independents, 1 vacant.
July 7, 2009 – Al Franken seated. 58 Democrats, 40 Republicans, 2 Independents. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE DEMOCRATS HAD A SHOT AT A 60-VOTE MAJORITY.
August 25, 2009 – Teddy Kennedy dies. Kennedy had missed 97% of the votes in 2009 and over 90% in the last half of 2008. 57 Democrats, 40 Republicans, 2 Independents, 1 vacant.
September 25, 2009 – Paul Kirk appointed to Teddy Kennedy's seat. 58 Democrats, 40 Republicans, 2 Independents. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE DEMOCRATS HAD A SHOT AT A 60-VOTE MAJORITY.
February 4, 2010 – Scott Brown sworn in to replace Paul Kirk. 57 Democrats, 41 Republicans, 2 Independents.
June 28, 2010 – Robert Byrd dies. Byrd had missed over 90% of the votes in 2010 and almost 50% in 2009 due to illness. 56 Democrats, 41 Republicans, 2 Independents, 1 vacant.
November 29, 2010 - Mark Kirk sworn in to replace Roland Burris. 56 Democrats, 42 Republicans, 2 Independents.
So that "huge, overwhelming super-majority"? It existed only for a total of 6 months AND only during two periods when Teddy Kennedy and/or Robert Byrd were unable to vote AND required them to get the votes of every Democrat plus BOTH independents.
There you have it Mike. If you can show where that's wrong, I'd be happy to acknowledge my error.
Ben lotsanumbers - There's no point in directing facts at someone who prefers to wallow in ignorance. "Lady David"! Really? That's the best you can do?
Ben...
Why would "facts" need to get in the way on this website !
Belfast Lad, Good Morning! Thank you for the kind words, agreed there is much work to be done. One area of suppression that is being overlooked to some degree, is those who became citizens in recent times. Years ago, when I first moved to Florida, I don't remember what questions were asked on the driver's license application and when I became a citizen notifying the DMV was not one of the steps. I haven't received a letter but I did check with the Supervisor of Elections office to make sure I am still enrolled.
Everyone should check their voter registrations, especially if you've moved, whether it be down the street, across town, another county or state. Don't wait until the election day. In Fl. you will be allowed to vote Provisionally on Election Day, if you cannot prove who you are, you will be notified by the Elections Boards if your vote is accepted as valid, but this is only a last resort move so everyone check your status while there is plenty of time most can be done on line.
California Tom 1.17
You want to see Romney's tax returns, do you? There's a link to them which coincidently is the same link to Obama's college transcripts. Find the link to Obama's transcripts and you'll find Romney's tax returns.
The truth, about this presidential election, is in Vegas! The odds are tightening up. While Obama still leads, the over/under is getting much closer. Hold on to your hats, folks! This is going to be a close one!
Gingerbread...
Thank you for affirming that it is indeed possible for a human being to get his or her voting status established at many other times other than on election day. From all the twaddle I've seen written here about supposed voter suppression, I was beginning to think same day registration was to be considered the "new normal".
A new lawsuit claims Mark Zuckerberg pulled a billion dollar fast one on Facebook investors.
The class action lawsuit -- filed by disgruntled Facebook shareholders -- claims the 28-year-old CEO had inside info that the stock was grossly overvalued, and he protected his own financial hide by quickly unloading a ton of Facebook stock.
This is the second time in two weeks a group of FB shareholders have joined together to accuse the mogul of withholding information.
The lawsuit claims Zuckerberg and his cronies hid the fact that there was a foundational flaw in the Facebook business model -- that there was not nearly enough advertising revenue to support a stock valued at $38 a share.
The lawsuit claims Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, and Goldman Sachs -- all sounded the alarm before the IPO that Facebook was seriously overvalued, but that information was "selectively disclosed" to the largest investors.
poor redhead, "Outside interest groups have OUTSPENT Democrats by a 20:1 margin!"
the new york times reported yesterday that the evil conservatives had spent $30 million. you might want to check your math again... or just keep drinking the koolaid.

Sorry but that line about denying legal voters their right to vote does not fly. This administration has filed suit to stop voter picture I.D. which many states require now to buy frappin allergy pills or do anything else much that is official. This administration is against clearing the rolls of illegal voters simply because their fearless leader (pun intended) comes from Chicago where thousands of dead people are still legally registered to vote and you can bet they will somehow magically vote in this election. Obama and Holder fight anything that will keep them from stealing as many votes as possible to try to keep this incompetent in office.
Good Morning Mac!
One thing I've noticed is, the personal attacks are flying fast & furious...
Just goes to show what happens when rapid animals are backed into a corner! They see it all slipping away from then & are too impotent to do anything about it! ;o)
I'll get right on that as soon as you post me the source for your claim Willard is winning the electoral map, I have asked you for now for two weeks...
I see where keck - wasn't man enough to take the challenge - are you?
Joe, Don't you know investing is Gambling, put on your big boy pants and suck it up, don't blame others for your poor judgement ........ All this time employment has been in the @!$%#ter it started back when Bush was President, and I don't remember all you Republicans crying back then ......
skip Nicholson, Oklahoma City
ON this planet our current leader has done all he can to destroy our economy and our Constitutional rights and our relationship with our allies while pandering to our enemies and still sending billions of our dollars in "foreign aid" to the middle east. So, to keep from having the last real American having to turn out the lights, we are going to send him back to Chicago or to Oklahoma if you would like.
Sam2468
Obama's great stimulus to "save or create" jobs cost 4.1 million dollars for each job "created (read government jobs) or saved". That to me is the epitimy of failure. Never in our history have unemployment benefits had to be extended not by months but by years. If this is the Democrat idea of success, they really have lost any idea of reality.
America is waking up to what a mess Obama is. Tomorrow the Unions will get handed their lunch in Wisconsin and then on to November.
Ruken #1.22
From your GDP link.
Gingerbread Mamma
Every scream against removing the ease of voter fraud just proves it is needed. It has been shown over and over and over and more and more since the easy registration has increased. If a person can't be bothered to get off their behinds and register in a timely manner and get themselves to and from the voting place with a picture I.D. in hand then they do not deserve to vote. Only one vote per one
AMERICAN as the constitution says and I guess they didn't consider they had to add every living American.
Bain Capital under Mitt's leadership ('84 - '99) had the single best set of returns of any P.E. in world.
Mitt and his team made billions in investment gains buying and turning around a multiplicity of businesses. The beneficiaries? Public Pension funds (e.g. teachers, government workers) and endowments (students).
Success by any objective standard.
Romney is looking better and better everyday, especially as the Obama staff continues to show how much they don't know. For instance Bain capital. They are using events that happened after Romney left Bain and blaming him for it. They are ignoring the truth that companies from Bain take FAILING companies and reorganize them to make them profitable. All of these companies would have closed LONG before they actually did. Let alone, some NEVER closed because of the actions of companies like Bain. Face it, Obama's record on job creation simply does not exist. Creating "temporary" jobs does not count. That's what the stimulus did, create temporary jobs.
Temporary jobs will not sustain the American economy. :-)
Ruken
I guess I should have said "there is a very strong difference between Solyndra and Konarka"
One was a very big waste of tax dollars and one was a good investment. Can you guess which is which?
$1.5 million = Americans working for another 8 years.
$.5 billion - gone before you can blink.
Very very stupid comparison from the left. It won't fly with thinking Americans.
I'd shed a tear for poor down trodden Obama except, MSN first read does a fine job of it themselves. Not to worry, he already found someone to blame. He blames Congress (read that Republican controlled House) for the jobless numbers because they won't let him throw another 4.1 million per job into the wind. Shame, they want him to learn economics but I think that is too late for that. He only reads take from anyone to give to those he favors. Community Organizers are by necessity of a welfare, government dependent, tax the rich mentality. NOT good for any country and time ours cleaned up Washington of these types who have infiltrated it totally coming along with Obama.
get...
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that SEIU members in Wisconsin were hauling people out of their beds and tossing them into box vans for overnight storage so they'll be at the polls tomorrow to vote against Walker.
"One man - one vote" is the American way !
JH-479998
You are so correct. The Narwhal room folks must be getting really desparate to put out such obvious baloney. But we must remember, those who support Obama are not thinking Americans to begin with.
wow feistred', now....you know you can be a little less abrasive...but then you said that "you think all republicans (non-democrats) are cockroaches"
i think conservative democrats think you are a joke.
....but i still love to read your posts.
Zuckerberg got married just in time so his wife can't testify against against him. off to play golf ...........
Perception Change really? Or did the Left wing press just blow him up WAY to much. What did Obama ever accomplish? And boy does it show! Can anyone name a less qualified President ever? And by the way did President Reagan EVER blame President Carter for the mess he left him?
Nearly 4 years of "HOPE AND CHANGE" and no hope no change. I am ready for CHANGE, change the POTUS.
Romney 2012
SLOWDON or SLODON whichever it is-------A 1.9 increase compared to a 3.1 increase is still an increase just a smaller one not a decrease....Add the two together then divide by two and you will get the average of the two quarters which will be the actual increase or growth in the GDP....Oh forget here you go 2 is the answer...I know someone whose name is SlOW DON would have problems with basic math so there you go the actual GDP Growth for the aforementioned quarters is 2% GDP GROWTH.................
The MSM must be getting nervous. Lots of libby leg twitching goin' on... Lots of "experts" on this site posting bs sources for stats that are spun and misinterpreted to "prove" a particular talking point. Job stats go down and the left is in panic, perhaps realizing (finally) that Obumble hasn't got a clue. Same ol' same ol' tactics.... yet Oblahblah is losing momentum? Perhaps the tanking, European socialism "role model" has something to do with that as well?
David, David, David.........I'd say it's more up to you....since you posted the exact same thing I said, and even included dates. Thanks for showing how Democrats have had 2/3rds of the power since 2006, and 100% of the power from 2008-2010 as I said, when you called me a lie.
So when I asked you questions earlier, from your last post.....I can only assume that you are saying that Republicans are too strong for Democrats and are able to control everything from the minority position. Which brings me back to my question.....if Democrats are that weak and pathetic......that they allow themselves to be controlled by the minority party......shouldn't we make 2012 the year that donkeys become extinct? Why continue to put Democrats in power if they can't achieve anything?
Only the truth is they did achieve a lot. They put their policies in place starting in 2006....and it's their failed policies that have lead to the economic meltdown and runaway inflation for the average American. So the real question become...do we want more of the same thing we have had since 2006........or is it time to "hope" for some "change"?
Joe,
Your abysmal 401k report is your own damn fault. If you were too stupid to move your money to a cash account, less risk all be it no return, you had it coming. How is that for gop christian values?
I laugh at the posters who post these links from all these different sources. Because there is so much garbage and spun stories on the internet - anyone can link an article indicating anything they want. It's ridiculous.
People need to use their own heads - without influence from political parties or ads. Quit with the excuses and forgiveness based upon party affiliation. Anyone who believes this country is headed in the right direction or thinks this government is doing an acceptable job needs help.
This country is sucking big time... doesn't matter who it began with - we need someone to straighten the ship. I can't tell you who can get it done -- but I can tell you it's NOT getting done now.
Use your heads when voting....
Hey Shaking My Head - "....those who support Obama are not thinking Americans to begin with."
Knock off the anti-American sentiments. Those of us that support Obama are just as much Americans as you. We have a RIGHT to support the candidate of our choice - that IS the American way. Tired of this anti-american BS.
Well, that is priceless, we have an Idiot from Albania (isn't that next door to Kosovo) blaming job creation (translate bash Obama under ALL circumstances) for causing a losing streak on his stock market portfolio. Never mind that for the last month, it has been predicted that the stock market would start falling, if not crashing, because banks in Europe are failing, conservative governments in Europe are failing, and double dip recessions are either occurring or are imminent due to the failed policies of conservative European regimes that double-downed on austerity (not to mention the impact of China's slowing economic growth).
So now that stock markets are behaving as predicted, the finessed financier is crying over his losses, but true to his hate-Obama nature, is blaming Obama for all the failures around the world. Odd isn't it that if the Albanian idiot were truly the fruitful financier he claimed to be, he would have divested from the market a month ago, and put his funds in safer investments. I would say, quit blaming Obama for your failed foray into financial scams, and put the blame where it belongs - on yourself.
Common Sense Mike
Dems had power since 2006??????
Executive = Republican
Legislative: House= Democrat/Senate = Democrat
Judicial: although it supposed to be non-biased, the rulings speak volumes.
Hardly 2/3rds
Now, in 2012, you can replace the Executive with Democrat, and Hose with Republican.
What's my point? The Founding Fathers made sure that NOT ONE SPECIFIC GROUP WAS IN POWER at any point. Checks and balances, remember? Or do you count Congress as 2 of 3 branches?
Common Sense Mike:
Stop with the nonsense. McConnell - and his obstructionists - has invoked the filibuster more than any other Senate minority in history. Twisting numbers may work with the low-intelligence crowd on the right, but it flies in the face of reality. The 40-vote minority, now a 47-vote minority, has effectively replaced majority rule. Don't piss on my leg and tell me otherwise.
Name calling - weak, pathetic - does not change the fact that indeed a minority holds control of the Senate. Period.
As far as putting laws in place in 2006, I remind you that President Bush had veto power. He never once in his entire eight years vetoed a single spending bill. What did happen was that at the end of his administration the economy had blown up and was in free-fall. The first trillion-dollar budget deficit came on the Bush watch.
Don't make assumptions about my posts. They're clear and don't require your interpretation such that your spin fits your narrative. Republicans are hardly "too strong". Indeed, this party is loaded with some of the most embarrassingly weak-minded legislators in my memory. It is Senate rules - no less and no more - that has allowed this bunch of idiots to bring gridlock to Washington, D.C.
Now, be off to the sandbox with your buddies, and stop eating the kitty lumps.
"Jobs report turns perception against Obama"... this is so distorted and untrue that MSNBC is starting to look more and more like Fox News.
I’ll try to say this without as much hyper”bull” as I can as not to put anyone off. This coming election all comes down to three types of people, in my opinion.
First – Those who understand and know the truth about this economy in that NO PRESIDENT, without the complete help from Congress can create a single job, not one unless he hires for his immediate staff, and these types of headlines are not meant for them.
Second – Those who do know the truth but for their own reasons, they just do not like the President and want to see him fail, regardless. These headlines are a “dog whistle” for them.
Third – These folks believe every poll, every headline or Internet meme they see. These are the targets of these types of stories, and you can tell this just by the reactions in the posting on this site. These are the people who need to choose where they will stand…
So all of this daily reacting to and worrying about what the markets do, or what some person says about the jobs outlook or how many people got hired last week or last month is totally useless. The only way the economy, our economy is going to get back on track is for the private sector to start spending which they will not do because THEIR welfare, their entitlements are being cut and they do not like it. Or, government can spend, which it should, but on half of our government will not support it… so here were are… because there is NOBODY who can turn this economy around in the time that Americans have gotten used to having things done, sorry guys, but we’re just going to have to tough this one out, regardless who the President is.
@slodon:
Uh...did you pass basic algebra?
JH-479998
No, the point is that Romney cannot pick and choose what he wants to talk about.
Romney wants his record as Mass Gov off the table
Romney wants his record at Bain off the table
Romney wants Konarka off the table
I believe that investment in alt. fuel is a good thing, even if there is a costly failure. We subsidize massive amounts of $ to drug companies so they can come up with more drugs. It's called long-term planning. It's called being prepared; it's called being ahead of everyone else.
What I do not believe in is Romney's right to pick and choose what he wants to talk about, and then lie about the rest.
Romney is a pathological liar and that is why he cannot allow anyone to talk about anything because his house of cards will come crashing down.
The "media" wants you to think it's going to be a close election. EVEN with all of the voter FRAUD that the left is going to throw at us it will be a landslide defeat for the libs in nov. Just like the recall going on tomorrow. Walker will walk away with it. Pun intended. The democRATS have not learned that socialism does NOT work. Never has, never will! Come on NOVEMBER!!! I would NOT vote a democRAT for dog catcher, let alone some important "job".
It’s amazing how HONEST REPORTING will change the “perception” of Obama.
Honest reporting on Obama has been woefully absent for the past four years from the main steam media. For three months we’ve been hearing nothing other than employment is “trending upward” as Obama’s policies are starting to take effect. Now we find out that the March, April and May numbers are all being “revised downward”. Funny how the media couldn’t manage any honest reporting for three months as they tried to effect the “optics” in a favorable light for Obama. This article is about the sad state of our economy and the lack of almost any measurable improvement by Obama.
But look at the deflection from that story all the bleeding heart liberals, totally ignoring the facts and the actual topic of the story:
1) Gingerbread Mama (post 1) - Some rant about ex felon’s voting in Wisconsin and Florida’s efforts to ensure only valid US Citizens vote.
2) Feisty (post 1.1)- Some craziness about Solyndra and an 8-10 year old program with Konarka.
3) Ron (post 1.2) – Something foolishness about global warming and North Carolina and another rant about Florida elections
4) Fesity (post 1.4) – Some nutty spiel on the Wisconsin recall election
5) David Walker (post 1.14) – congratulating the people for posting stuff not even related to the story, then the audacity to claim that within two hour the posts will be collapsed when like 90% of the collapsed posed are by liberals outraged over a conservative thought expressed on the Newsvine.
6) California Tom (post 1.17)– some measly mouthed whining about Romney’s income tax returns, that probably aren’t even filed yet, since he requested an extension. “Lies and disregard for people”, Tom yelps about. Sure, that’s what he was he was doing when Romney 1) saved the 2004 Winter Olympics, 2) was elected to Governor of Massachusetts, and 3) saved numerous business and jobs by rescuing and restructuring companies in distress. In contrast, what did our Community Organizing President do after college?
Guess when the ship is sinking, the rats just start to run in circles.
NOBAMA 2012!
.
I love it!!! Dumb dems and libs force a recall on a single issue, then complain about the campaign costs... Did you expect him to roll over, apologize and hand the Gov seat to his opponent without a battle? The only rationale I can see for such behavior is stupidity.
David Walker, bayllie,
You should go lightly on Common Sense Mike. He obviously missed his civics class. Not knowing, caring or understanding the process of government is the hallmark of the Republican base.
They never watched "School House Rock" since it was on PBS, aka educational TV.
So if it's "Senate rules".......who has controlled the Senate since 2006? Who had a Super Majority for a brief period with the power to change anything and everything they wanted? Oh wait...I know....it's not Democrats fault......Republicans are always to blame. Perhaps Republicans had some kind of mind control machine that prevented Reid and his comrades from accomplishing anything. That it?
I know I'm dense but exactly how are the Republicans to blame for the fact that the Democrats had two of the most pompous, selfish, egotistical Senators, who refused to resign their seats when it was obvious they were incapable of carrying out their duties. If I was a voter from either of these states I would be totally outraged.
BTW, I am outraged over Senator Lautenburg.
Perception changed??? More like reality has finally sunk in.
Common Sense Mike:
This is all just a big stupid game for you, isn't it?
The Senate has one day to change rules, every two years. Either party, or gasp!, both parties could drop the filibuster nonsense. Neither party has the guts to give up control via the 60-vote filibuster rule. The talk about change has always been just that - talk.
Again, don't BS me with the super-majority rule. I've laid it out for you.
Stick with your partisan crap. I'm sure it plays well with your friends, but it doesn't work with people who actually understand the process.
You're new here, part of the wave of cannon fodder that's been marshaled by the right wing crazies. Spare me the ideological crap, dogma food, and fool-ade. Anyone who's been here for any length of time knows I may tilt left, but I have zero patience with identity politics.
Common Sense...Be verrrry careful! I think you are getting to him. Have you ever seen a liberals head POP? It aint pretty! All that comes out is black smoke and ooozzz. Its awful.
truetexan - All hat no cattle:
Care to dispute facts, or is riding that great big horsey on the merry-go-round as daring as it gets for you?
The jobs report says it all.....and then again, it doesn't really, because it doesn't give you any idea of what sort of jobs comprise that 69K-I have a feeling that they are low end, low paying, at least a goodly portion. As for the employment picture being better for the newly graduated college crowd-Whoop Dee Do!!!!! What about all of us, who are not only college educated, but also have a wealth of real world and work experience behind that degree who are now flipping burgers at some fast food joint or bagging your groceries for you so we can honor our obligations? None of these statistics even begin to describe the carnage that has been visited on working Americans by current governmental policy. For all of you, continually contending what a wonderful job Obama has done, please be honest and fess up: How many have lost your job? How many have lost your retirement savings? How many have lost your homes? How many have been unable to assist their children or elder parents because their financial situation has gone from bad to worse? How many of you have been unemployed long enough to lose your benefits? How many of you work for the government (county, city, state, federal???) How many of you are union workers???? It seems to me that those who cheer most loudly for our President are the ones who have coasted through this economic meltdown with little discomfort. Maybe you didn't get to take the family to Disney World this year, or maybe you have to make due with the old 40 inch TV instead of a new 70 inch plasma screen. Perhaps you had to defer buying that new car (energy efficient of course) until you could afford the proper charging jacks to be installed in your three car garage? Maybe you don't eat out as often-once or twice per week, instead of once or twice per day. Maybe you had to cut back on your Starbucks. But you can make these sacrifices for the "good of all" as you have conned yourselves into believing. You didn't lose your retirement accounts, because you felt that you didn't have to invest for your retirement. After all, there is social security and pensions promised in your union contracts to take care of that and Obama Care means that you won't have to expend any savings toward your medical care, sooooooo-everything is good, right?
Now David...I have been nothing but nice to you, even though you started by calling me a liar, and followed by posting exactly the same thing I said. I haven't called you names at all, but if we are going to talk about "crazies"........wouldn't you calling me a lie, and then posting the dates to support exactly what I said, combined with your complete failure to recognize how ridiculous you keep making yourself look.... qualify? Democrats took control of the House and Senate in 2006......had the White House, Senate, and House from 2008-2010....and currently hold the White House and Senate. For you, and other Democrats to continue blaming Republicans for everything is evidence of having one's head stuck so far up the old donkey's butt that reality becomes unrecognizable. Start by pulling backwards...then wipe the donkey dung from your ears and eyes.....and maybe you can understand.
Gingerbread Mamma -- The repression includes groups like Rove's the Koch brothers, even the RNC and Romney staff who are in these forums collapsing posts against them. They are busy tampering with everything, from Wikipedia to you name it, because this is a part of propaganda, this is what they rely on, this is what they do.
To know where you are going, you need to know where you've been. And not just the last four years, or even the four before that, but throughout history. At least compare how things were before the Lost Decade (2001 - 2011). Good luck getting low-information instant gratification Americans to grasp that. What they can get is the clear choice of:
We can continue to add private sector jobs as has been added for 27 months in a row - OR - return to the Bush-era of job growth barely keeping pace with population growth though not recovering from the Great Recession with massive loss in jobs at the end of that administration.
Congress can pass the president's Job Act and/or 5-point Plan to grow the economy - OR - return to even more tax cuts for the rich, even more deregulation of Wall Street, and even more spending on defense that caused the economic crisis and debt/deficits in the first place.
We can work to restore the American Dream for all - OR - privatize everything and be run by monopolies and multi-national corporations with allegiance to no government or election or your vote.
It's not that complicated. It does take some effort to be informed, but it's not that complicated. Folks can start by turning off FIXED News and Hate Radio. Stand up for our Republic form of democracy and one man one vote. Stand up for labor rights and having a voice against powerful corporations and gazillionaires. Stand up for yourself!
Amercia, or amnesia, counting on fear and anger, say NO. Romney -- He's not in it for you.
Sue-3329001 -- You are right about one thing, that jobs are becoming low-paying. But this is not the president's doing, rather the private sector doing what the private sector does, especially when there is no organized labor to push back against it. Rightwingers are all for privatizing everything, and our country being a oligarchy (rule by the few rich and their corporations), never considering the unintended consequences (like the SCOTUS overturning nearly a century of precedent in favor of Citizens' United).
There is likely a silver lining, which is the market will backfire for Teapublicans. Aside from rightwing fear mongering about "Obamacare" and other silliness, companies are not hiring, and if they do it is not for full-time permanent jobs. They are trying to avoid paying benefits and most of all increasing rates for unemployment insurance. Which means that between their behavior and unemployment running out, the unemployment rate is likely to go back down by election time. Also, because the jobs are not good-paying jobs, the price of gas is likely to remain low.
Brilliant. Throwing American workers under the bus is a short-term instant gratification mentality -- the same as self-serving rightwing voters have.
From the movie "Team America," there's three kinds of people: d!cks, puss**s, and arseholes. Romney, however, manages to be all three. A lying selfish bully, lacking any courage or leadership, who can destroy a person's life and never take responsibility for it.
Red is dead.... Oh you that crotch stinks....Yuk....
My own personal belief. If Obama is re-elected this country will go to Hell on the fast track. Let me be clear, we are not yet on the Fast Track, if Re_Elected, much faster sprial down.
@ admin
why is this Feisty Red Head guy allowed to hurl personal attacks like "you are a liar" and you do nothing? , interesting
Hmm, if "Obumble" doesn't have a clue, than how come unemployment has fell from a peak of 10% to roughly 8.2%??? How come the economy has come from losing 6% of GDP in 2009 to gaining roughly 2% this year??? How come roughly 4.3 million private sector jobs have been created under this administration??? The facts don't support your right-wing delusions.
Hmm, last time I checked, "European socialism" is doing pretty damn well across the Atlantic. They have better schools than us; a better healthcare system; and, in the darkest part of the socialist continent, Scandinavia, they had roughly 2.7% growth and unemployment at less than 6%. How did that happen??? Because of the @!$%#ing welfare state. Face it; the welfare state is not a liability; it is an asset. Enough with blaming Europe. For God's sake, our entire government is founded on European Enlightenment principles. So apparently our democracy is also failing, as it is a product of "European socialism???" Europe is actually what America should strive to emulate. Not the debt-ridden countries, but the fiscally responsible ones in Scandinavia. They prove that the welfare state works; we just need to focus more on social spending and less on our military. So enough with the anti-Europe crap. We could learn a thing or two from "European socialism," like how it states that there are some parts of the economy (education, healthcare) that the government actually beats the private sector (oh the indignity!!!). You right-wingers need to stop criticizing other countries and realize how America can and should learn from others. After all, America isn't perfect.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
No Mike... What David posted did NOT support exactly what you said... I understand your having the feeling perhaps that what you originally posted was indeed fact, since we all hear that sort of stuff being parroted every single day. To have a simple majority in the Senate does not give you control of the Senate. As David pointed out multiple times... the Senate was under Democratic control for only very brief periods of time in the past decade. Even during those times, key Senators were ill and unable to vote regardless. And, unlike Republicans who feel compelled to vote as a single entity on nearly every single issue, whether or not it really represents the wishes of their constituents (and I can assure it, no vote by any legislator could represent the wishes of ALL constituents, regardless of party), some Democrats actually vote based on what they feel is right for the people they represent. Since the election of President Obama, precious few Republicans have shown any signs of bi-partisan thinking. The few who have, are being driven out by ultra conservatives, or choosing to retire due to the bitter obstructionism coming from their Party.
The fact you continually ignore the facts and come back attacking David Walker's comments, tells me you apparently are like some others who show up on these pages, only to disappear after finally having a moderator ban participation. Maybe you're one of those and have just changed names to get back in there causing more confusion. Deranged maybe? SDskydiver (or whatever it was)? Just continually denying facts and trying to stop any sort of civil discourse is not a way to advance your positions. If you have concrete facts and opinions, feel free to express them, but don't just keep repeating a false position based on propaganda and acting as if you are taking the high ground.
You were nice Common sense Mike? Like hell you were. David proved his point but you never accepted the points he made. Your nick is a misnomer. Here is a better one for you, MeanBully Mike. Well until a moderator bans you I don't have to read anymore of your slanted posts Troll.
I copied this from Commonsense Mike's profile page, I am not a Republican or a Democrat. Sure you aren't and next you will be offering me swamp land in the everglades. If it walks like a TEA Partier, and talks like a TEA Partier then it is a TEA Partier. I have no intention of playing by your rules.
Romney's Solyndra Hypocrisy
As Governor - "Now is the time to refocus its assets in such a manner that it can become a major economic springboard for the commonwealth by focusing on job creation in the renewable energy sector," Romney said in 2003 of the state's energy trust fund that year.
Eight years later, it appears Romney, as he seeks the Republican nomination for president, has had a change of heart [Etch-A-Sketch]. In his economic plan released Sep. 2011, Romney called spending on green jobs a waste of money and an "unhealthy" obsession by President Obama to reshape the nation's energy markets.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/story/2011-09-07/Romneys-energy-rhetoric-differs-from-his-record-as-governor/50304822/1
When Romney was governor, the state handed out $4.5 million in loans to two firms run by his campaign donors that have since defaulted, leaving taxpayers holding the bag.
The two companies — Acusphere and Spherics Inc. — defaulted on nearly $2.1 million in loans provided through the state’s Emerging Technology Fund, a $25 million investment program created while Romney was
governor in 2003 that benefitted 13 local firms.
Acusphere, a biotechnology firm headed by a Romney campaign donor, got $2 million in 2004 that it was supposed to put toward a $20 million manufacturing facility in Tewksbury, which never became fully operational... The loans were approved by a seven-person advisory board that included two Romney appointees and three Romney campaign contributors. [Now we can add Konarka Technologies to the “failed” list.]
http://bostonherald.com/news/us_politics/view/2011_1201investment_keletons_hiding_inside_mitts_closets
Romney backed a much bigger [failed] tax break for the movie industry in November 2005, signing a bill that would give tax credits of up to $7 million for productions that film in the state.
The program had generated about 1,700 in-state jobs, costing the state $142,500 in lost tax revenue for each job according to the Massachusetts tax office. The state had gotten back 13 cents for every dollar it gave up in tax revenue.

Mitt Romney being a hypocrite? How shocking! There is nothing the man won't say or do to become President but flip flops seem to be a specialty.
Wouldn't it be great if we could talk about everything Democrats have done since taking control of the federal government in 2006.......but alas....people are living that nightmare daily so the only hope is to distract people and paint the opposition as worse. It would be a total disaster if the focus became the accomplishments of Democrats since 2006.....or would it? Perhaps if people began to realize how Democrats created and caused the economic meltdown with their failed policies....we could move passed it and get back on the right road......and actually move forward instead of using forward as a slogan.
Okay, Romney, like many others, embraced investment in renewable energy companies and found out it was a loser and stopped.
As for tax credits to the film industry, Louisiana, of all places, has implemented such a program and has become Hollywood South, creating a very positive economic impact and a significant number of local job opportunities.
Demonizing green energy is plain stupid. Everyone knows its going to take awhile to catch on.
But here is the thing, you can let the Chinese develop solar or we can. Which do you want?
So, demonize solar and in 20 years we'll be paying the Chinese for it, rather than producing it ourselves.
Why can't everyone get on board with an "everything" policy where energy is concerned.
I don't know why it has to be "big oil" or nothing. Um, wait, I do know, because most Republicans are paid by "big oil" interests.
Eric, Obama's "energy policy" is a disaster. He wants to force "green technologies" at a time when the costs are significantly more than the benefits. Then, he has tried to "prime the pump" by pumping multi-millions in green-energy loans (see Solyndra and others) that have gone or are bordering on bankruptcy.
He has stalled deep well oil production in the Gulf. He halted the Keystone Pipeline even after an alternate pipe route was agreed to by the Nebraska governor. He panders to the environmental extremists even when the cost of the pipeline would fall on Canada.
He loathes production of electicity by coal fired plants and desperately wants to raise the cost of such production through his beleved Cap and "Tax" policy that did not make it last time, but would surely be high on his agenda. He has pretty much let the EPA go crazy with regulations without congressional oversight.
Under Obama, the cost of ALL forms of energy would continue to rise and with it the costs of production at a time when the U.S. is battling in a global market.
Eric, you think that Buffet, Soros, Pelosi's husband, John Kerry, etc don't profit from big oil too? Get a brain... All you have to do is buy shares, and you too can reap the benefits of capitalism... instead of whining about the success of others...
Because they are too @!$%#ing stupid to understand that the energy that we use now is finite. They have the attutude that as long as there is coal and fossil fuels while they are alive nothing else matters. They would rather take the side off of half a mountain than use their brains.
Fed...
In the past couple of years, we have become a nation that excels at "whining about the success of others"...it been one of Mr. Obama's biggest accomplishments.
So Mitt found out ten years before Obama that green energy is a crappy deal? While Mitt was doing that Obama was setting up protests and bake sales?
Vote Obama and vote for robbing the successful and give it to the welfare crowd. When class warfare was introduced by the messiah it took hold in the liberal crowd and the hate continues to escalate into a feeding frenzy by the welfare mentality to get more and more given to them. Has anyone figured out that the successful are the ones that actually have employees? Has anyone worked for someone on welfare and food stamps?
Doers do, whiners whine.
just...
The President needs hostility towards successful people to stir up his voting base. Should the Supreme Court take a big bite out of his messy healthcare "reform" plan he will throw them to the wolves next, telling his followers that the court's 'conservative' majority has taken away all the wonderful and completely "free" (a lie) benefits he wanted to bestow on them.
After the last two month's lousy economic numbers, a Supreme Court poop on his plan could make Mr. Obama even more angry at whichever campaign podium he stands at.
The Supreme Court's ruling is supposed to be in within weeks...some may have forgotten this because of all the wonderful news that's been coming at us lately.
Just redd-----Yes lots of people work for someone on Foodstamps.....That is how they help to stimulate a lagging, ailing economy...It will be hard for your brainwashed hate filled mind to accept but here you go ......................When someone buys food with Foodstamps they are giving a job to everyone from the checkout clerk and shelf stocker to the truck driver who delivered from the warehouse employ who sorted the stock and loaded the truck to the farmer and food processing plant employ where the food came from......By the way also the CEO and stock holders of all of those companies profits.....So what you pay on taxes circulates in the economy un-like a taxbreak for the rich..............Therefore if the rich bastards do not want to use their tax breaks to hire and instead want to horde their dollars then who is it that is waging class warfare? The rich are and we will now fight back with our vote............
@robiscoole - You hit it on the spot I add that continued reliance on foreign oil (we don't refine our crude)means our national security is also at risk and less control of economy.
Additional info for those of you have all the time to post on who's watch did this catrastrophe happen as we as 9/11? Anybody?
We all know the answer. Have a good day!
It's George Bush's Fault I know it, MSNBC Knows it, the "Mad Cow Rachel Maddow" Knows it!
LOL
Anybody but Obama in 2012 " I Voted for Obama in 08 "
The money hoarders of the 1% started the class war and we will win it in November....Votes are more powerful than Dollars for commercials....... If we are informed by more than our hate for our differences....................
Jim - Coal fired power plants are the dirtiest form of electricity on the planet. That is a fact. Extraction of coal from applachia is a disastrous environmental catastophe. And by the way, McCain and Palin ran on "Cap and Trade". Look it up.
Yet, Solyndra was a total fraud. They didn't have any intention to actually produce something. They whole thing was for 2 reasons: One, to make a few Obama supporters rich with tax money (kickback) and to make Obama APPEAR to be applying funds to the phony "alternative energy" choices.
No matter how dirty or clean an energy source, it has to be able to serve as many people as currently use energy. For the same low prices, and at the same continuing reliability level.
Maybe in 50 more years...but right now there is NO "clean" energy source that can step up and fulfill the above. It is all completely phony at this point. There is a reason the Chevy Volt assembly line has been shut down for 17 weeks, and continues to be: They can't sell Volts!! They do NOT do what they say they will, They amount to little more than a novelty. A mighty expensive, government subsidized novelty. If the line is shut down due to lack of interest and sales...there are no "alternative energy jobs" there. None.
Don't like coal, gasoline, diesel, nuclear or other conventional energy sources that are serving us safely and inexpensively? Not able to admit that all these energy sources have cleaned up to the point that alternative sources won't make a nickle's worth of difference? Enjoy life in fantasy land, but unless you have the answer to cheap, non-government subsidized energy choices.....
Shut up.
Enviro nazi's have done more damage to our countries manufacturing base than any other factor. People say they want good paying jobs for the average joe. Well, that's never going to happen until some of regulations are changed. It's gotten past the point idiocy in many places. I know of one business in San Fracisco that was denied a permit to pump water from the bay to into their live crab holding tanks. The problem the city had? They didn't want the crab urine and feces going into the water! I guess the rocket scientists there aren't aware that crabs actually do poop in the water already! Asinine best describes most of these rgulations.
Green energy needs to be developed by companies capital, not subsidized by our tax dollars. If it's a legit product, it will sell. So far, all we have seen is that's it's been a great backdoor way for Obama to pay back his bundlers.
A lot of folks have been jumping on the "green" bandwagon... most of them see it as the new goldrush. Unfortanatley it's not the market that is funding these things...it's our tax dollars. The whole ethanol fuel fiasco is a prime example. It's a joke, ethanol fuel produced less BTU's than regular fuel... not exactly "efficient".
The media created the hysteria about Obozo back on 08'. Making middle America believe that if we didn't vote for him then we MUST be Racist.
Since then we've has rising unemployment, rising foreclosures, deeper racial/class warfare. A failed jobs bill (or 2 or 3). A health care bill jammed down our throats that hopefully will be shot down by the Supreme Court.
ANYONE but Obozo/2012
When Mit can pay his fair percentage of tax I'll consider him, for now he's a bottom feeding free-loading rocking-chair-check-collecting, lazy-loafing, buzzard-sucking, tax-evading, fool-problem buffoon parasite.
Obama 29% income tax charity 26% of his income
Newt 31% income tax charity 18% of his income
Rummney 11% charity less than 0.5%
Me 26.5% State income tax 5% total 31.5% charity 10% of income
Rummney you suck you parasite!
@sw philly...When someone buys with MONEY THEY EARNED, not only do they give jobs to those same people you mentioned, but they are productive members of society, not scum sucking leaches!
First off, if we don't stop the stupid dem vs repub crap nothing will ever happen or change for the better regardless of who is in office. End of story. The more we argue and divide the less likely anything really meaningful for us average joes will happen. Stop being a pawn and wake up, it is a two headed snake.
Now in response to those talking about the energy policies:
Steve: The solyndra product did work and filled a specific niche in the solar market, but that was also part of its problem. The other part was failed management plain and simple. I don't argue that the loans were approved under sketchy conditions and I agree they never should have been. As far as alternative energy not working you need to read more because it works. There are many forms, but I will touch on Solar since you are talking about Solyndra and since out of all the options it makes the most sense anyways. Right now Solar is growing at an amazing rate and the prices keep on dropping. Currently large scale systems for large energy users can make sense. For the average homeowner, not so much, but it is getting better. Like any technology it takes time and fortunately that time doesn't have to be alot if we act accordingly. We should be pushing for investment in it because if we don't then the Chinese are going to run this market and there will never be any of those jobs you talk about. Not to mention fossil fuels are finite and our planet can't keep up with the pollution we are creating so we have to act as soon as possible, in other words now. Also, like I ask anyone who complains about subsidizing alternative energy, how much money do you think the oil/gas/coal companies have/will receive in grants and subsidies? My guess alternative energy is a drop in the bucket compared to that.
Mike - I agree there are enviro nuts that ruin good intentions for us all. Fact is we will pollute. End of story. The question is can we be more responsible or are there other ways that can reduce that pollution or at least the impact on the environment around it? We have one planet and we need to be responsible and the "not my problem" or "address it later" is not the proper response nor is the you can't do that at all because a couple trees have to be cut down or there is a nest of sewer rats living there and I don't want them to die ect ect. There is a balance to be had and as a rule I would lean more to the "left" side I guess since pollution does effect us all and in the long run, cleaner air, water, and land is a better choice, plus we all benefit from it. However, that is assuming we try to find an acceptable balance and admit there will have to be pollution at some point.
In the end, as I first pointed out, we need to stop letting ourselves be divided. But as far as our energy and enviromental policies go, if there are other options out there we need to be pursing those as well as being responsible with our current in place methods; fossil fuels aren't leaving anytime soon. If we can get a few more mpg or recycling some bottles keeps them out of a landfill then we should do it. But if we also start making regulations that have virtually no reasoning or common sense to them then we need to step back and think again because all that does is turn people off to the idea and make meanigful changes that much harder to get accepted. We also can't expect all of these changes to be overnight. There are simple things that everyone can do and implement rather quickly, there are other things that take time and have more variables to deal with.
In my personal opinion we need to use what we have available to us and do so in responsible manner, a manner more responsible than we do now. Our ultimate goal should be to wean ourselves off of fossil fuels but that isn't going to happen overnight either. For electricity production fusion will be the ultimate answer. Short term we should be focused on solar and gen IV nuclear reactors. Both are technologies we have now and can address many energy needs we have until we get to the golden goose of fusion power as well as free up many other resources and deal with the environmental concerns that many have. Those items coupled with other options to help save energy and stretch our resources could really lead us into the next energy revolution, one that we as Americans, can lay out our own fate in. Then we can also start focusing on other issues that we have while taking a major one off our plates.
Any President- democrat or republican- who actively attempts to create a tear in our unity, in our brotherhood with each other, MUST be replaced. This is not the civil war era. We are not facing the extreme social issues we were then. (And no, the right to marry someone of the same sex or the decision of whether or not you are given health insurance does not equate to the same social and human rights issues as slavery.)
This division is being perpetrated over the most ridiculous of reasons. Money. We are being divided by money. Taxes. We need to get some real and serious perspective on what is really going on behind all of this hate mongering and remember the reasons this country was created in the first place...
We created this country because we REFUSED to be "ruled".
We created this country because England was over-taxing us.
We created this country because we chose to stand TOGETHER to build a better way of living, free from tyranny and the forced policies of a King.
We created this country because we believed all men were created equal and deserved the right to be free to create their OWN destiny.
So, why, only 200 years later, have we:
Decided that it's OK to be ruled by one who believes he is King?
Decided that over-taxing is fine- as long as it isn't YOU that is being over-taxed?
Decided that it is better to be divided- to be handed everything from a King who forces his policies on us?
Our actions and our decisions this very year will be known throughout history as the decisions that either brought down the United States and all that it stood for... or the decisions that built her back up.
The decisions to work together- to stick together- to remember the true principles that we stand for and to refuse to be governed by anything that pushes against that.
The decision to pull ourselves back up. To innovate.
To find strength in ourselves and to use that strength to help our friends & family and neighbors find theirs.
To refuse to go down without a fight. To refuse to let any man or group divide us.
To understand the responsibility that we have, as a nation, to demonstrate to the world what freedom can create and how wonderful the world could be if we were all free.
We are the hope of the world. The example that must remain intact if all mankind is ever to be free. If there is ever to be peace.
If we become weak and dependent on our government... we all lose. If we go down... the world loses.
Please, for the sake of our country and future generations:
Put down your party affiliation, the torch for your personal causes, any grudges that you hold...
Put it all down and do whatever you can to bring us together. To keep America strong. To unify as ONE VOICE rather than the splintered, angry voices of single-mindedness, intolerance and inflexibility.
Make no mistake: This election and the next 12-24 months will decide the fate of this nation.
So, before you vote, I invite you to ask yourself this question and dare yourself to be completely honest- without obligation to party loyalty... "Who do I truly believe has the knowledge & ability to lead this country successfully during this time of economic and political upheaval?"
I, for one, will make my decisions based on my desire to protect our country and to ensure that she has the opportunity to become great again. Join me...for old time's sake.
Somewhere on First Read, someone decided to delete my post from earlier this morning. The topic apparently offended some people's sensibilities....well too bad. Here it is again unfortunately, I cannot replace all the other posts that went down too. If you are trying to silence me or anyone else on the left, your actions towards my post speaks volumes about what a Republican led Congress or WH would do if elected.
Gingerbread - Great post. I live in Florida so I am used to the craziness but the latest attempt at voter repression from our criminal Gov Scott was, by far, the most egregious. Thankfully, the election officials refused to continue the purge because it was so flawed. Gov Scott was swept in on the Tea Party wave as was Rubio and others. I wish I could predict what will happen in this state going forward but I can guarantee you that Gov Scott and the Tea Partiers in this state are not finished and will only continue their dirty deeds. This was just a "set back" in their minds.

Vote Romney and vote for continuing the transfer of wealth upwards. Seriously though, do you know who is in the welfare crowd??? Unemployed people who had the misfortune of being fired and who cannot find a job in this tough labor market; poor people who only got poorer because of the recession; middle class people who had the breadwinner(s) lose their job(s) or suffer massive pay cuts, forcing them to take welfare in order to keep their families afloat. Of course there are cheaters out there; hell, the very "successful" that you applaud got away with murder on Wall Street when the financial crash happened. Don't buy into the welfare crap that Reagan fed to your parents, which they eventually fed to you. Most people who take welfare are hard-working people who are down on their luck. And by the way, much of the money that would be raised by increasing taxes would go to either reducing the deficit (important) or the improving the economy (reforming education, fixing healthcare, improving infrastructure, etc). Most would go to getting people off welfare, not to the welfare crowd itself.
Okay, hold on a minute with the class warfare crap. I remember numerous polls stating that Americans favor raising taxes on the wealthy, and in some cases on themselves. Does that make them anti-capitalist and class warfare instigators??? Does it??? And who do mean by "successful???" Are you talking about the "job-creators" in the 1%, or the real drivers of the economy, the middle class??? Be specific, LA.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely,
The absolute power of corporations caused the Great Recession.
Unions are part of the system that puts a brake on corporations.
Backed by absolute powers of Koch Brothers, Walker is also absolutely corrupt. Walker's rest of life will be comfortably financed by the Cock Bros.
How Crazy Is This?
Surfing the internet there were a lot of crazy stories; like
a North Carolina bill that would require coastal communities to ignore global
warming science. How is that for
sticking your head in the sand?
Then there was the GOP congressman who suggested “Let’s hurl
some acid at those female Democratic senators.”
How is that for a war on women?
National Review writer Jonah Goldberg believes that
conservatives should beat up young people who “think Socialism is better than
Capitalism”. How is it that Jonah
doesn’t know that beating up people is a crime, but having a thought different
than his is not a crime?
The Daily Advertiser newspaper in Louisiana writes that
President Obama is conspiring to murder Catholics and Christians. How is that for being part of a hate group?
The Big News:
But the big news has to do with Governor Rick Scott’s
attempt to suppress people from voting in Florida. On Friday a federal judge blocked a section
of Florida’s Voter Suppression Law that placed harsh restrictions on third
parties, like the League of Women Voters.
Simply put, that section of the law was unconstitutional and groups can
again register Floridians so they can vote in November.
It is well documented that Governor Rick Scott has a list of
182,000 names whom he claims are not entitled to vote. Approximately 58% are people of color, namely
blacks and Latinos. His rationale for
purging these people is that he is attempting to reduce voter fraud, ignoring
the fact that less than 10 people in Florida have been accused of voter fraud.
Over the weekend the Department of Justice has demanded that
Governor Scott and the 67 election supervisors end their extensive purge of
registered voters. All 67 election
supervisors have complied with the DOJ’s demand—but not Governor Scott. At this point he is defying the federal
warning as he is attempting to do whatever he can to put Florida’s 29 electoral
votes in the Republican column.
What is most distasteful about Governor Scott’s actions is
that the right to vote is one of America’s most sacred rights. It is the foundation of our Republic.
Soldiers, seamen, and aviators have given their lives so we can vote. Yet Governor Scott doesn’t seem to care about
that. It is no wonder that he is America’s
most disliked governor.
Sorry for the double post. FR is acting crazy this morning.
According to the all-knowing political pundits (the same folks who brought us "The Road to Bagdad!" complete with it's own theme song, as a subsitute for news coverage of the invasion of Iraq.)
what Friday did was erase the perception that Obama is the clear favorite heading into November.
Did you check with the voters on this or did you just listen to the Republican strategists, because, to me, it just brings home the message we have had 24 straight months of jobs creation under President Obama, which is way better than the 4.4 million we lost in the last year under Geroge W. Bush, whose policies Romney wants to return to.
No need for apologies Ron, it is worth a double post and read. The gremlins are very busy this morning.
@ron. Technically it was Jay Townsend who made that nasty hurl comment . He is a spokesman for a ny republican congresswomen.
Lulu98: Thanks. I stand corrected.
Dennis nobody cares about ancient Mass politics. This is all about Obama, as it should be.
John: What are you talking about with the "nobody cares about ancient Mass politics" statement? I surely do. Mitt Romney has only two things in his history that even come close to preparing him for the presidency. The first is his work at Bain, which has almost nothing to do with creating jobs or preparing himself for the presidency. The second is his one term governorship in Massachusetts, which he doesn't want to talk about. It seems his supporters, like you, don't want to have that conversation either. That should tell you something. He was mediocre at best, and that is being kind.
Here's the thing: It matters greatly, because being a privileged, silver spoon rich guy with a good education just isn't enough of a resmue for the most important office on Earth. But thanks for your input.
But being rich and privileged also does not make him the wrong choice. That is what the problem is today on both sides. People vote on perception and not facts on both sides.
upset...
What did you have to say about Mr. Obama's "resume" four years ago ??? If nothing...then why should any candidate's "resume" matter to you ???
Upset...even Axelrod said Romney was qualified to be POTUS on Face the Nation yesterday. Bob Shrum says nobody cares about Romney's Mass record. I'll take his word, if that's OK with you. It is apparent none of the Obama surregates are on the same page.
What are you talking about with the "nobody cares about ancient Mass politics" statement? I surely do. Mitt Romney has only two things in his history that even come close to preparing him for the presidency.
.vs, Obama's resume was just loaded with qualifications for the Presidency?
Who cares about the last 3.5 years of Obama's administration??? That's ancient news, isn't it???

Here's the rundown on Mitt Romney's devastating record as CEO of Bain Capital, a tenure marked by bankruptcies, bailouts, and mass layoffs — all while Romney and his partners raked in Billions of Dollars in profits for the firm and Romney himself amassed a Quarter-Billion Dollar Fortune.
Romney's Bain Capital Caused Mass Layoffs, Sent Jobs Overseas
Thousands of Americans were laid off by Bain Capital at companies it purchased, managed, and, at least a quarter of the time, drove into bankruptcy, ruining Lives, Destroying Careers and Families including Many Many Suicides While stuffing his pockets, Keeping his Darling son OUT of service to his country with the line "My son is Fulfilling his Patriotic Duty by helping me get elected"...Got that one?? and, Of Course, installing the InHouse car elevator for his "darling little boy's $180,000Ferrari....Listen Up People...This guy IS Count Dracula In carnate.

Oh wait! Any thought past the end of your nose doesn't exist. Sorry I forgot what I was talking to.
The big question is whether American's STILL believe in Hope and Change. #1 nothing has changed except that the rich are getting richer. #2 Middleclass is all but wiped out. The Obama Administration is and has been into the blame game so long no one believes him anymore. At what point does he become our leader and start taking responsibility for the state of our economy. Who in their right mind would want 4 more years of this blame game and class warfare and war on women. When Romney becomes our President, we're going to hear a big sigh of relief across the nation. Let's vote to get this great country back on track.
Ugly, Ugly, Fiesty.... Red is dead... Ed Schultz, Lawarence O'donnel try to hide thier red, but it shows threw on there pink faces... Yuk.... Just goes to show... Nobody likes red headed Gingers... You can't even walk into a sprem bank if you have red hair.
In looking at the photo of Mr. Obama that tops this article...is the President trying to do the 'bite-his-lip' thing like Bill Clinton used to do ???
If he had started doing that three years ago he'd have no lower lip left.

Bye Bye Obama!!!!!
This short comment is to all the Dems out there. Times Up!!!!!!
That's true, thanks to the supply-side economic policies put in place by conservatives and Democrats dragged by this right-wing movement.
I admit that I don't like how Obama has blamed other people, even though Bush and the GOP have royally screwed us up, but he also deserves credit for saving our economy. He has helped foster over two years of private sector growth, of slow but steady economic recovery, and a nation slowly but surely walking back from the brink of collapse.
Who in their right mind would want 4 more years of Bush economics??? Who in their freaking right mind would want a return to the policies of tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, and union-busting that caused our economy to collapse and our middle class to become squeezed and roughed up by Big Business??? At least Obama brought us back from the brink of ruin and tried to be bipartisan. But the GOP said no. Not just when he asked for it, but on his own inauguration.
No. If Romney becomes our President, we're going to hear a big sigh of relief in Wall Street. 3 years later, Americans are gonna ask how they could be fooled into voting for Bush 2.0 and are gonna weep at the destruction that Romney will bring to our middle class. He won't destroy America, but change it radically; if Romney becomes elected, it will mean the death of a middle-class based economy. For a long time after, we will have only two classes: the wealthy 1%, and the lower 99%.

Right-Wing Billionaires Behind Mitt Romney
They're trying to buy a presidency - and they expect a big payoff on their investment
By Tim Dickinson
Presidential politics has always been a rich man's game. But now, thanks to the Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United that upended decades of limits on campaign donations, financing a presidential race is the exclusive domain of the kind of megadonor whose portfolios make Mitt Romney look middle-class. "I have lots of money, and can give it legally now," Texas billionaire and top GOP moneyman Harold Simmons recently bragged to The Wall Street Journal. "Just never to Democrats."
THE COKE DEALER: William Koch
Position The "other" Koch brother, Bill sold his stake in Koch Industries to brothers David and Charles in the 1980s. He now runs Oxbow Carbon, a global dealer in petroleum coke, a cement-manufacturing fuel that's high in climate-warming carbon dioxide.
Age 72
Fortune $4 billion (Forbes 400 rank: 81)
Current Donations Gave $2 million to Romney's Super PAC, including $250,000 in his own name, $750,000 through Oxbow Carbon and another $1 million through a subsidiary. A sister company of Oxbow operates a Colorado mine that sells coal to the federal government – meaning that its campaign contribution is subsidized, in part, by taxpayers.
What He Wants To pollute for free. Koch's fortune is tied up in some of the nation's dirtiest industries. He blasts the EPA, which has been trying to crack down on carbon pollution, as "hyperaggressive."
THE WASTE BARON: Harold Simmons
Position Traffics in toxic chemicals and hazardous waste as head of Contran; owns one of the world's largest producers of titanium. A former corporate raider nicknamed "Ice Man," he pioneered the leveraged-buyout tactics that decimated American industry.
Age 81
Fortune $9.8 billion (Forbes rank: 33)
Current Donations Before backing Romney with $800,000, Simmons made $1 million bets on Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. His total giving of $16.7 million makes him the GOP's second-largest investor after Adelson. Most of the cash went to American Crossroads, the Super PAC founded by Karl Rove that has close ties to the Romney campaign.
What He Wants Plans to store radioactive waste from 36 states in an underground dump in Texas; has been sued repeatedly by the Justice Department for failing to clean up contaminated Superfund sites. Calls Obama "the most dangerous American alive, because he would eliminate free enterprise in this country."
THE McMANSIONEER: Bob Perry
Position Owner of Perry Homes, a megabuilder of high-end sprawl in Texas.
Age 79
Fortune Estimated at $600 million
Current Donations At $4 million, "Bobby Jack" is the top donor to Romney's Super PAC – including a $3 million lifeline in February, after Romney went for broke in Florida. The two have enjoyed profitable relations since 2005, when Romney chaired the Republican Governors Association. Perry has also given nearly $2.5 million to American Crossroads.
What He Wants Perry's top issue is "tort reform," which would limit the size of jury awards against homebuilders who do shoddy work. He knows political favors can be bought: He was a big donor to every justice on the Texas Supreme Court – known derisively as "the Perry Court" – which vacated an $800,000 judgment against Perry for crappy construction. A jury in the same case later hit Perry with $58 million in damages.
MR. FAIR AND NEWBALANCED: Jim Davis
Position Chairman of New Balance shoes
Age 69
Fortune $1.8 billion (Forbes rank: 242)
Current Donations Gave $1 million to Romney's Super PAC. The donation was so toxic for business that New Balance's CEO raced to Facebook to dismiss it as "a private donation and not a contribution from New Balance."
What He Wants A lucrative defense contract. Soldiers currently get a cash allowance to purchase sneakers made anywhere; New Balance has lobbied the Pentagon to buy its made-in-America shoes in bulk.

Good grief IR, up to your old tricks again, eh? This narrative that money buys elections might come as a bit of a surprise to Governor Whitman of California or Senator McMahon from Connecticut. Because while money may be a necessary condition for electoral success, it's not sufficient. And that's because the message matters, the messenger matters and the issues matter. The only thing that money does is buy a bigger megaphone -- but there's no guarantee that anyone who's listening will be persuaded by what they're hearing. That's why elections go on as scheduled no matter who is winning the money race.
And oh by the way, the Citizens decision applied to saintly labor unions as well as evil individuals and corporations. Funny how we never hear the left complaining about the river of money the unions can pour in to "buy" elections.
Well how about THIS message Bill:
Mittens Romney, "I pledge allegience to Grover Norquist above all else, even the interests of the United States."
Disgusting!
Why do you think signing pledges is disgusting?
IR why don't you list those millionaires donating to President Obama's campaign in 2008 and now and what they got out of the dea or will get. l. It goes both ways, and all politicians do it.
Ah yes my Old Friend Bill. I tell you what if you think that Unions can even compete on this level why don't you put up a list of Union Money in our election process and how they have to disclose all their donations and that somehow makes it the same. Ought to make interesting reading to compare apples to apples don't cha know.
Well IR, according to the WaPo Republican PACs are poised to spend about $450 million in the 2012 cycle while unions will spend about $400 million. So while Republicans may have an edge in the money game, it's by no means a blow out.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/outside-groups-plan-to-focus-on-air-war-ground-game-in-2012-election-fight/2012/04/20/gIQAw6beWT_story.html?hpid=z2
that "river of money from the unions" is collected form a "river" of people and averages maybe $50 per person per year.
big difference compared to 1 guy giving $3 million
Well Bill that is "disclosed" money which the Unions have to do. How much undisclosed money is your Yahoo's prepared to spend? I would say at a minmum you can double that figure.
From the NYT. Perhaps we should be questioning why these groups are not being investigated by the I.R.S.
Not as stupid as you think... Is as stupid as expected... Her and Ugly Redhead, I mean Fiesty... Two very dumb ones.... I promise you they are ugly... You can tell by there post. Ugly inside and out..
god bless president Obama and god bless the United States of America. united we stand divided we fall. i wonder if money matters to those wanting to divide?
Well, they are disgusting when all they encourage is partisanship, a rejection of compromise, and the radicalization of an already-extremist party. If a pledge was to, say, promote the reduction of the deficit, or to support rebuilding our infrastructure, or to reform education, than that is okay, as it doesn't restrict you from doing anything. But signing a pledge that not only handcuffs the legislature, but advocates a my way or the highway attitude is, in my opinion, akin to treachery, for they are stabbing the American people, who want action (and action often requires compromise) but are not getting anything but gridlock and bull@!$%#. Grover Norquist is a damn bastard, and if I could I'd have that son-of-a-bitch arrested and thrown into prison. His pledge ought to be burnt and thrown away, or better yet, preserved as an example of the level of extremism and radicalization that the once-great Republican Party has stooped to.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
Wisconsin Voters:
Tomorrow's election is about many things but most of all it is about money vs. people. Get out and vote for fairness
Remember, if you are working, you can thank unions for a 40 hour work week, safe working conditions, paid holidays and most of all consideration for efforts to make a business successful. Public sector employees need your support. We need our teachers, our police and firefighters to help our communities be viable and livable.
The only problem with all the unions is that we now have laws limiting working hours, overtime, safe working conditions, and child labor laws. The public employee unions had little or nothing to do with all that. Why can't you see that it isn't right for public employee unions to negotiate wages and benefits with the very same people who they helped to elect? You do not see a conflict of interest there? And yet you can call for Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from the healthcare decision because his wife has a job that is anti-healthcare law? You truly do not see the similarity?
Public Unions had absolutely nothing to do with rights gained by workers. My wife is in a public union and I have seen first hand the utterly incompetent structures these unions create. When she describes some of the thing that go on I can't help but think how fast most of the folks would have been fired for incompetence if they worked for a private company. Public unions have to go.
@Skup #6.2: Gwaddamn! You ever read a history book? Gwaddamn!
Actually.... "It's THE PEOPLE'S MONEY vs UNIONS" Get it right next time.
I'm amazed how the workers for the public demand and ransom the public for what the public cannot have or get.
Wake up Narcissuses
The Wisconsin voters are trying to pay for union supported state employees who
o make 48% more than the private sector for the same job
o health insurance that is rated 2 times better than that of the private sector
o pension plans that are 3 times higher than that of the private sector
Scott Walker has:
o lowered all of these benefits significantly and lowered the Wisconsin budget significantly
o jobs have increased this year significantly
This is why the Democrats are fuming and lying
Let's all hope that Scott Walker wins and we can start a nation-wide cleanup
SCOTT WALKER ....YES HE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a retired teacher that was forced to belong to a union - the NEA, the state and local - I got 0 ZERO - NOTHING NADA FROM IT ---- I knew the salary was set by the local and county governments - I knew my class load - I knew my salary - I knew that next year I would have a preestablisted pay raise and that would increase as I increased my time and education - I ended up with 11 college transcripts - the union do nothing but give me an empty wallet and pay the big union bosses and the liberal Democrat party - DOWN WITH UNIONS...........
"a new CNN poll released Friday had it Obama 49 percent, Romney 46 percent among registered voters."
The media likes to ignore the 'Registered Voter vs Likely Voter' issue, but the problem for the Democrats is that it's REAL. For example, in 2004, pollsters said that 'Registered Voters' preferred Kerry by 2% just before he election, but 'Likely Voters' preferred Bush by 2% - Bush won by 2.5%, a net swing in Bush's favor of 4.5% in actual votes because Republicans are far more likely to vote than Democrats.
There has been a consistent spread in every election over the last 30 years, and it averages about 4%, but it can be as much as 6% (2010) or as low as 2% (2008).
So when you see polls that say the Democratic candidate leads by x% among 'Registered Voters', you should make a mental adjustment to get a realistic figure. Rasmussen is one of the few that use 'Likely Voters' in their polling, and he shows Romney ahead by 47% to 44% for Obama.
By the way - Most pollsters use 'Registered Voters' for their polls until a few weeks before an election, and then switch to 'Likely Voters' in their last few polls to avoid a big embarrassment over their accuracy.
I also know a fair number of libertarians who are so disgusted with the apparent Republican nominee Romney that they either plan to vote for Gary Johnson or write-in Ron Paul too. Gee, I wonder what percentage of the fringe conservative vote that it would take to swing the election to the President because of distaste for Romney and RomneyCare, among other problems that Romney has with the far-right?
You can also thank unions for breaking the backs of taxpayers by getting up to 40% more for public sector workers than their taxpayer counterpart, not to mention very cushy bennies.... We need fairness in ALL areas.. For the taxpayer FIRST, then the employees.. Governments need to live within their budgets. If the union workers aren't happy with their cpmensation, they always have the option of changing careers. Many of us in the private sector have had to do it whether we wanted to or not, and not always for more money.
This article is no more than a wake up call from the Obama supporters in the press to the base of the democrat party. That same base has been less than enthused with "hope and change" because Obama has continued the war in Afghanistan, kept Gitmo operational, killed Osama bin Laden (and then boasts about it) among other things. Mr. Obama's first "campaign" stop in Ohio had a half-empty arena to welcome him, a far cry from the Greek columns and hundreds of thousands who welcomed the "chosen one" in 2008.
The democrat supporters in the media will continue with this theme of a "coin flip" election in order to motivate Obama's supporters who would otherwise stay home on election day.
I knew before opening this thread that at least the first section would be collapsed -- but five collapsed? Wow, David Axelrod was correct in saying that the rightwing can't handle the truth!
True...
You know...there are quite a few of those "low-information instant gratification Americans" who vote the exact same way that you vote. And you're right..."it does take some effort to be informed" but those folks don't make that effort...and vote the same way you vote.
Maybe Obama should campaign on his wonderful work in Libyia.... na, probably not, considering MSNObama won't even report on it.
Fighting at Tripoli airport, gunmen surround planes
"Weeks before a planned election, Libya's new rulers are struggling to assert their control over an array of former fighters who still refuse to lay down their arms after last year's war that ousted Muammar Gaddafi."
http://news.yahoo.com/libya-armed-brigade-surrounds-tripoli-airport-official-says-131106462.html
Maybe these "rebels" need some more NATO weapons.
The gist of the problem for Obama. It's the economy, stupid. When there are articles on this website that actually state some unpleasant facts like full-time jobs getting harder to find, you know something is up. I realize that the spinmeisters are trying very hard to make Obama look good, but there's only so much spin that can be put on dreadful news.
The EU is imploding and will more than likely tank, Germany cannot carry the weight or continue to do the heavy lifting. The Global stock markets are all down, there are very few bright spots on the global economy and things don't seem to be getting better, rather the converse.
Obama has blamed the economic problems over here on Europe. Perhaps he should examine what the US financial collapse of 08 did to Europe. Derivatives anyone?
the posts that are against the libbie agenda are deleted and this Fiesty guy gets to call posters things like "liar" , interesting
This political party line thing is BS and we all know it. Conservatives hold dear Corporations that buy through lobbyists Politicians and will use you ideas of Capitalism and so called limited government as key. Yet they grow government by thing s like the Patriot Act. Foreign wars (IRAQ) and the like to stuff their pockets with profits from it. Via Contractors like Haliburton.
And the Dems are just as guilty for laying down to Public concern for Welfare and the like. Giving out taxpayer money to deadbeats. Yet I honestly would rather see some poor lazy American getting that money than some Iraqi or Afghan's or whomever we send our kids to die for.
One thing is for certain if the Republicans get their way we are headed to Pakistan or Iran for another ten years of this war on Muslims and the middle Eastern oil. Our Foreign policy needs to change. First starting with it OVAL office and then congress needs to get on board. Spend that money AT HOME.
If you disagree and think that Romney the Mormon LDS liar is going to save us. You my friend area fool. We live in a global economy now. And wars and pandering to the corporations is what has gotten us where we are today.
Last point instead of either party fools waiting for the Government to either create or get out the way of creating JOBS. Start to do it anyway around current policy. I would rather buy a product from a USA citizen than from CHINA.
The left is circling the drain, the right is circling the drain, neither party is offering answers for Americans, which means, America is circling the drain!
Didn't Scott Walker in a hearing with the U.S. Senate said that his attack on collective bargaining rights had absolutely no effect on the Wisconsin budget?? And last time I heard, 30,000 jobs were lost last month or in 2012 under Walker??? He promised to create 250,000, but only created 30,000.
I wouldn't say that. Thanks to public unions, public employees have rights and benefits that wouldn't have existed without them. Yes, there are some cases of fraud or incompetence, but it's the same in the freaking private sector. You people keep bitching about how unions are destroying America, but you fail to remember that unions have been in decline since the 80s. Unions have less membership as a percentage of the total workforce since the days before the New Deal. And by the way, whatever your beef with unions, you cannot justify eliminating their rights to bargain for benefits. You can lower their benefits or have them contribute more to pension, that's fine. Even a pro-union guy like me can accept it. But to deliberately restrict and actually eliminate the right of unions to collectively bargain for benefits is against the democratic principles that built this country. And by the way, government isn't and shouldn't be a business.
That same argument nullifies any argument in support of Citizens United, which opened the door to corporate manipulation of our elections. Unions may be organizations with their own interests, but at least their reason for existing is to work for better conditions and benefits for their members. Corporations only look out for the shareholders; not the average joe. We used to only let unions donate to campaigns, and our economy and the American people prospered. And the Republicans have other ways of raising vast sums of money, like pooling donations from the wealthy and from their own supporters. Democrats can only raise vast amounts of money and get people to vote from the average joe and the unions, and much of the support comes from the latter. Unions deserve the right to exist and have an important role in society, as they work (for the most part) for the benefit of their members. Corporations, well they're just in it for the money. And that's it. Not benefits for employees, not an environment for economic prosperity for all, just for the money. That's it.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
I think we may be fighting this battle the wrong way...maybe instead of trying to limit Unions, maybe we should all join, then when the Union Bosses decide to spend your dues to support politicians who are going to raise your taxes, limit your freedoms, then give your Jobs to illegals...We can say "The Hell You Are"
I don't know why they keep deleting my post, I don't like Obama any more than the rest of these people, but my post keep getting deleted. Changes nothing, anyone but Obama in 2012, take Pelosi with you.
The truth, about this presidential election, is in Vegas! The odds are tightening up. While Obama still leads, the over/under is getting much closer. Hold on to your hats, folks! This is going to be a close one!
Obama in a landslide...Yeah I know what the polls seem to say, and I know what is being reported...What is being ignored is the fact that as totally inept and biased as our "News" media has become, it is still a for profit Business, and with literally trillions worth of campaign adds at stake, the very last thing they will allow is the appearance of a runaway election, because both sides will stop spending money...
In mid October when the Media's bank accounts are all full, then they will revert to what they do best, lies and deception for political advantage...Then Romney will drop like a stone

What President Obama did as President to be Big spender than Bush?
The budget projects a $1.3 trillion deficit cut this year, and $901 billion in 2013. But by 2018, the deficit is forecast to fall to $575 billion.
The President $787 billion economic stimulus package to Debt- What is Bigger than this $787 billion to Debt ? GOP you tell me !. If you had forgotten, its the "SENATE JOB" on President Budget that prepared all this expenditure. The President has NO right on spending ANY fund without Both House APPROVAL,except during national emergency.
Then what Qualify him as big spender? Some Project still yet coming to rolls in ,included, Bush Corporation bailout and GOP talking point -solydra all within this budget.

To all Obama supporters on the edge, maybe it's time to consider Ron Paul. He's as tired of Obama's deficits as you are.
Maybe all Ron Paul supporters will be able to put him in as a write-in candidate. Why are some of the RP supporters still holding to their dream of a Paul Presidency? He might still be collecting delegates and he might make a valid argument at the convention, but you have to come to terms that he will not win.
The republicans voted to create the deficit on purpose and now it is President Obama's fault. The republicans inherited a good economy with low unemployment and in 8 years we were bleeding millions of jobs and the republicans had voted for and created the largest deficit in our history.
Let vote for Ron Paul just another republican who thinks that women should be second class citizens with men who don't even know how birth control works being in charge of her body.
Yeah, Ron is all for freedom and rights if you are a man.
I know republicans are not very smart, but a republican party than votes to take away women's rights, votes to take away voters rights is not a party interested in freedom of any kind.
We have fought wars all over the world to protect our democracy and right to vote. But now the republicans think we should give up our freedom to vote and democracy so Romney can have more tax cuts.
Destroying America for Romney to have more tax cuts while starving out people is not a smart thing to do no matter how many lies the republicans tell.
If the Democratic party is the party of freedom please explain why the president signed the Patriot act twice after campaign promises to get rid of it. Put HR347 into law making peacful protest a FELONY. Signed the NDAA after insisting on the provision for indefinate detentions of Americans (here is his fellow Dem Carl Levin telling it how it is to save his own butt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7W4LSHUFT2o )
Americans...
"I know republicans are not very smart"...thanks for your opinion. Good thing we have all the Democrat genius voters out across the country, despite the fact that so many seem to be unable to get themselves registered to vote in the 364 days prior to election day. I guess you'd consider these folks the best and brightest of the Democrat Party.
Alan: You should look to the policies driving the deficit. They are not Obama's.
So, throwing away $535 million on Solyndra was not Obama and Biden trying to look good ?
How about the $1 billion+ spent on attacking Libya with Cruise missiles ..... do we blame that on bush ? How about Congress, can we blame that on them as well since Congress did not approve this attack on another country where our national security interests were at risk ?? How about the $2 billion in aid, pledged to Egypt, which now looks like it may be supporting the Muslim brotherhood ???
Then, of course, there is the mother of all entitlement programs, Obamacare, which has already scared businesses into defensive planning. The lies, double-counting of "savings" benefits and administrative costs of this will further drive the deficit !
Huh,people who will vote for Romney are stupid and dumb not unless of course to those greedy millionaires and billionaires and wall street vultures that would benefit Romney administration if he wins. Though they already benefit this tax loopholes from the Bush administration that cost U.S.A trillions of dollars giving tax incentives/loopholes to corporates who outsource our jobs to other countries, giving subsidies to china who made business in U.S.A, tax breaks for oil/gasoline investors who profits trillions of dollars that goes to their own pocket or hiding in Swiss bank. Endless of tax loopholes for very rich people who pays less or half of the tax rate with the middle class when Romney and Republicans wins, not to mention yet the unpopular war that the Bush administration created which put Americans more in debt crisis, cost of that war alone is trillions. President Obama inherited all those mess from the Bush administration and yet there are narrow minded Americans expect President Obama to turn around the country like a magician and listens to those foolish and crook Republicans who accused President Obama a failed president? Common sense people, who is a far better President and accomplished significantly the most? Is it the Republican President like the Bushes and Nixon? Or the Democrat Presidents like Clinton (who left big surplus to Bush administration) and President Obama who did an amazing job with over half of his first term alone. In fact, President Obama is one of the best President in the earth. He have done such an amazing job that no President have ever done by killing Osama Bin laden and his successor, saving trillions taxpayers money by ending the war. He pushes the Obama Care which America deserves and should have been for a long time.Without Obama Care people who has a pre existing chronic/acute and serious condition it would be very impossible for anyone to get a healthcare, and countless college student will be no health insurance, and this will be paid by taxing more money to those very rich. This is why the reason it will be a disaster to Republicans if President Obama will get a second term because President Obama will tax more the very rich to give a fair share to our citizens. It is nonsense that middle class and hardworking americans were paying more tax rate than those very rich like Wall Street people,Romney and those corporates getting tax loopholes outsourcing our jobs to other countries. And yes, no more tax loopholes and no more additional trillions pockets for oil business. Now,if you ask yourself about what will happen to our country if Romney will be the president? It will be a disaster! Get the facts, and do serious research how bad he was governing one state where we lived when he was a governor in Massachusetts. Romney governed badly one state already and gush if we will talk about Romney governing the whole country? God of all God please don`t let it happen. Also Romney himself has his own Solyndra using secretly taxpayers money to invest and went bankrupt just like how he handles when he was at Bain Capital. Solyndra was funded and started by the Bush administration.Republicans will go way out of stupid lies and manipulate everything they can to prevent President Obama and Democrats to sit in the house because it would mean misery to them and subtraction to their loopholes. America will cripple severely in the hands of Romney and Republican politician.
Some one tell Ron Paul that if he wants to get more national support he needs to come out and be anti-corporate. The thing is if he went as an Indie and was just a little bit anti-corporate he would then truly be a force to be reckoned with.
Amazing open mind...keep smoking what ever makes you see the facts as you dream them...I know from your writting you are a HATER...Most likely a big TAKER too! Tell the truth...You don't pay taxes?
Imee...
One would have to be "stupid and dumb" to be able to make sense of what you wrote.
Stupid is as stupid does I guess.
What pray tell has Obama done to close those loopholes? Uh I hear crickets
Where is he getting the money to pay for his health care?Oh yeah, tax money from a group of people that is finding it harder and harder to make it in this overloaded system. Overloaded with laws and regulation. I don't need the governemnt telling me soda is bad. I need a job, it's that simple.
Anti-corporation means you are a socialist. The private sector is the ONLY ones who actually create jobs. Then you have the all knowing (all parties) Gov. They pay employees with OUR tax dollars. They dont create anything except nightmares. They make about 4 times the amount of money as the oil companies (clear profit) and does nothing except tell them how to operate and put limitations on them and everyone else!! Get gov. out of the way and watch what we can do as a nation. Put more gov. in control and watch how fast we fall!
America first is correct, After Bush re-election 28 senators and 174 represenatives voted for all this excess military spending $600 bil more (over normal budget) This was unneccessary. When we go to war we just buy what we need it does not need to be budgeted. Different funding entirely. This is unneccessary double paying for the same thing. This excess ends soon taking the military back to about 2007 level budget. They claim that ending the $600 bil. expense will shut down bases. I will wait and see on that. I preceive that they will pay the little more over the 2007 estamates. It is just an adjustment phase. By the way, I'm gonna get slammed for this but the 202 people that did this BS everyone a "REPUBLICAN!!! Not 1 Democrat in the lot.
Ron Paul is the only one who admits what the actual problems are but he couldn't fix a broken door knob.
Look it doesn't matter really who's president the problem is Congress. Checks and Balance to them only applies to their personal wealth.
Bush was what he was because CONGRESS did not do their jobs.
Spring cleaning doesn't start with a clean house it gets dirty then it is put back together.
I think a referendum vote on the confidence of CONGRESS is in order. and a second to decide if they are voted out whether the can run for public office again.
I am convinced most don't know how their government works only what the media tells them. Not that I am an expert, far from.
And, unfortunately, a vote for Ron Paul will end up being a vote for Obama. People - do NOT throw your vote away - vote for Romney and let's give him 4 years and see what he can do - there is always another election to change it out again.....
Lets get the record straight. When Bush was president EVERYTHING was his fault. Now that Obama is president, EVERYTHING is the fault of Republicans in Congress. See a pattern emerging? Incredible as it may seem, the Democrats have never done anything wrong, everything bad that happens in Washington is the fault of Republicans. What is ridiculous about this is that people actually believe this to be true, and what is sad about this is that people actually believe this to be true. It really isn't that hard to figure out why Washington is failing when voters refuse to face up to reality. Can you imagine what politics in Washington would be like, if everyone that votes would simply register as an independent?
You KNOW What comes to mind When observing our disastrous situation and the Developing World Economic Calamity? The FIRST Tangible AntiChrist in world History: KingGeorge TheVacuumBrained during his NOTORIOUSLY SHAMEFUL Shrubber Reign 2001 - 2008 and his Incredibly Vacuous Works.
Maybe, Just Maybe, The "Me First!!, No!!! for You!!, Where's my New Free Toy?RepublicanCrimeCartelsoldiersRommel and his sidekick ARE SUPPOSED TO WIN!! Which will surely spark the New Armed American Revolution, with 40,000,000 guns in citizen's hands The cops and their "swat teams", AND ALL THE PRESIDENTS MEN, Do Not Stand a Chance. BUT Wait!!! This has to be reasonably orderly like The French Revolution Because once these paid goons and killers with badges, aka the police, are disposed of, There IS the Probability of a much, much WORSE Scenario: Anarchy.
So Maybe with Prez O, The Lessor of two Evils, We should really think about consequences of a RepublicanCrimeCartelVictoy Starring Rommel and Company. You know that with saddam hussein and his Psychopathic Sons, Usey and Cootey, the iraqi people and country functioned....WHAT DO YOU THINK SISTER AND BROTHER AMERICANS?????????????????????????????????
If you are talking about the bail outs done at the end of President Bush's term, you might go back and look up who controlled Congress at the time. It wasn't the Republicans. The second stimulus bill when President Obama took office, again go back and look to see who was in control. Again it was not the Republicans. When the debt ceiling was raised, Republican's didn't control Congress. Republican's still don't control Congress, just the House and the House cannot get anything done, because Reid refuses to bring anything whatsoever to the floor for a vote up or down in a Democratic control Senate. Go figure.....
This isn't to say the Republicans have no blame here, both parties are equally to blame. At least know who was/is controlling Congress.
No, right now, under President Obama we have the largest deficit in history and the highest unemployment which is going back up, for over a decade under President Obama. This all after he begged for us to support him on the Stimulus, promising that Unemployment wouldn't go above 8%. He should have said, it will never go under 8% as long as I am in office!
I think everyone should follow President Obama's recommendations, "If I cannot fix it in 4 years, I don't deserve a 2nd term." He hasn't & isn't fixing it, so he should be outta there just as he stated.
Rick...
You summed things up nicely. Presidents Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush all got things done when needed by compromise and cooperation with members of the other party. Mr. Obama does things a different way...he'll only accept compromise or cooperation if someone's taxes get increased in the process. If no compromise is reached, he then villifies the other party and starts blubbering about "fair share" all over again.
I don't remember those other president's constantly insulting members of the other political party on a near-daily basis...then demanding to get their way when there are better ways to reach a solution.
Remember at election time vote for your party. The person really doesn't matter check for (R) or (D). Now you are the true lemmings. MUHAHAHAHAHA
These United States of Corporate Parties. Go ahead tell me I am wrong.
Mickey Mouse America's Number 1 write in. This should speak for itself and it does.
The Media has finally started to vet Obama. A process that should have started in 2007 and 2008. Unfortunately they were so inthralled with the thought of the first black President they neglected their duty.
Without conditions, the President vowed to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. To keep the President's promise the 2012 federal deficit must not exceed 229.27 billion dollars but it is not happening. I want the President to explain how he is going to keep his promise to the American people.
Without conditions the President promised the American people that hw would go over the health care bill "line by line" with my congressman and any other law maker in Washington who requested it and that all proceedings would be broadcast on CSPAN. I want the President to explain how he is going to keep his promise to the American people.
Just before the stimulus bill was passed the President's administration issued a report that projected unemployment as a function ot time both if and if not the stimulus bill were passed. According to that report unemployment has been worse than if the stimulus bill had never been passed. So according to this Administration study, all of the money that was spent on the stimulus bill has been of no benefit as far as unemployment is concerned. At more than 15 trillion dollars in debt, concerning any additional money that the federal government is borrowing, I estimate that it will end up costing the tax payers at least 9 times the amount borrowed to pay the money back over a period of 170 years. I want the President to explain to the American people what it is going to take to pay back all of this money that the federal government has been borrowing.
Will...
All fair points....yet the President will never answer your questions nor will any reporter ask him to do so.
Okay, than how come government intervened into the economy during the Great Depression and created millions of jobs and lifted our economy out of the downturn??? In case you haven't noticed, government workers ARE JOBS and they also pay taxes. And government also provides education, builds the roads and bridges that millions of people drive on, defends our nation, keeps our air and water clean, etc. And doesn't the government create jobs when they offer military contracts or try to rebuild roads and bridges??? Do you really think government interns, secretaries, and bureaucrats pour asphalt and weld together the turret of an M1 Abrams to the body??? Didn't think so.
And by the way, we tried getting government out of the way over the past 30 years. We gutted regulations, cut taxes, and let the banks write their own rules. And then our economy blew up. I don't think we need to go back there again, do you???

My gosh - what do we get when liberals "think"? See "jack335". So EVERYTHING is GWB's fault????? Wow, and conservatives are declared "crazy" by the liberals?????? Yes, I agree, GWB was not good. Neither is OBama. The media tracked GWB's natl guard story for his entire 8 yrs. Yet, the SAME MEDIA has not done a thing about Obama's birth cert. Oh, everyone declares a person "stupid" who questions that. Why? WHERE IS HIS CERT??? He has yet to product an actual certificate. Oh, but that is "old" news. Yes and so is the natl guard story - but the media tracked that and ignores Obama's cert. Liberals - they are the only people who think they are right.
O'bama was born in Hawaii after it became a state. His long form birth certificate is a matter of public record now, enough of the birther nonsense.
Good morning rubber room cronies.
First Read (condensed for you to easily understand):
1) MSNBC and Chuck Todd's crack reporting team are just coming to understand what the majority of Americans knew several months ago: Obama's policies are not working, and he will be out of a job in November.
2) Scott Walker is going to win the election by about 6% over Barrett, close to the same percentage he won last time. Why? His fiscally conservative policies to running government are working. Somebody buy Ed a towel to cry in, will you?
3) The DOJ finally does something right and tells them to knock off the voter limitation shenanigans in Florida. Welcome to America, where all citizens should be allowed to vote without anyone standing in the way of them.
Enjoy your coffee.
Team Obama channeled its inner Harry Truman and campaigned against a do-nothing Congress. And, to a large degree, politically, that worked.
Uh, folks, the Republican majority- led Congress is at historically low approval ratings. The debt-ceiling crisis, which threatened our credit rating, put their patriotism into serious doubt. A Tea Party governor is in the midst of a recall election, the three least popular governors in the nation are Republicans and the Republican primary was widely viewed at a clown circus. Care to put those facts inyour mix of punditry?
Amy, Walker will win the recall with ease. It was a stupid, childish idea to begin with. The voters of Wisconsin spoke loud and clear when they elected Walker to begin with. Then, in an absolutely meaningless primary for Walker, he recieved more votes then all his Democratic challengers did combined.
Many of us will disagree with you about the debt-ceiling "crisis". Maybe the Teapublicans were channelling their inner Barack and taking him up on his now infamous statement that "Raising the debt ceiling reflects a failure of leadership". Or does raising the debt ceiling without questioning it only apply when it is a Democratic President and a Democratic-controlled Congress?
Amy The Senate is controlled by the Democrats and the House is controlled by the Republicans so no majority as the White House is controlled by a democrat. 2 out of 3 branches are a democrat majority. Least popular Governors, you left out Jerry Brown, CA. (D) right now he couldn't get elected dog catcher. As far do-nothing, when has the senate (harry reid) last passed a budget. The house has passed a budget, whether you like it or not. The senate (harry red) has sat on a whole host of bills passed by the house and sent to the senate, so who exactly is doing nothing. Whether you like the bills or not at least debate them, bring them up for a vote or work on a solution, just don't sit on them. Just some facts for you to consider.
richard-1957365
Democrats barely "control" the Senate, and you know it. It's basically split, however, considering the Senate has higher approval ratings than the hugely unpopular House, if you want to give it to the Democrats, we'll take it.
mikehataway
Whether Walker wins or not is moot. What kind of governor makes an enemy out of school teachers? He got enough public workers angry, they were able to issue a recall. Unless you want to call out the National Guard and arrest Miss Smith, kindergarten teacher, the governor will have to face the voters. To me, he has already failed as a governor, because when you demonize teachers, you hurt the educational system itself, and when you do that, as a society, you wind up like Haiti.
The republican house passed a budget that is the same policies that created another recession in England. Why is it the republicans want to vote for another recession here in America?
Why on earth would anyone with a half a brain vote for a republican party who has passed a budget that would cause another recession?
You mean debate the jobs bills that would put the people back to work in America, but instead the republicans are more interested in protecting the rich than seeing Americans get back to work.
Then the republicans on this board want to call the rest of us stupid because we put the economic health of America before Romney and his rich friends.
VOTE FOR AMERICA...VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT 2012
Americans...
You are the person continually calling others "stupid".
I just saw Rince Priebus or whatever his stupid name is just talk way back on the "inevitable" Walker win in Wisconsinson. He did not sound anywhere near as confident as you Mike. And he knows what he is talking about.
@ Amy from Portland
Education needs a complete overhaul. It has been going down a slippery slope for a very long time. Eliminate compulsory attendence so that teachers can teach those students who see education as a responsibility and not a handout from the government. Because teachers should not be worried about disciplining children. We are graduating kids who can barely read and do math, yet that has been the focus of education for some 20 years, but we have made no gains in both reading and math.
Now there you go again;
negative, untrue RNC/TEA spin, talking points spouted from the RWMJ's praying some voters will simply get tired and vote for their NORQUIST PLEDGER Willard M. (Flip) Romney (Flop)
Here is a Flash for you Texas T: President Obama's policies ARE working and he is slowly but surly cleaning up Dumbya's mess; It is Bush's policies that didn't work - remember going from a balanced budget with surplus to the nightmare we experienced 2001 to 2009?
"Flip" Romney could be called Bush Jr. II with his economic policies - see his record as Governor and as head of Bain...
For goodness sake, Romney has already vowed to put the interests of Norquist, Rove, the Kochs and the 1% ahead of the interests of the United States of America and her citizens...
and YOU support that over America and her President????
@tony, America is right, The problem right now is simple, 4 yrs before Bush left office his repuplican sen and house put us in the situstion we have til the end of the year anyway. Policies don't just up and end when a term of office ends it carries over and the next guy has to deal with the other guys mess until it runs its course. Obama has been having to do this all this time. I don't envey him for having to do this, It's tuff. One thing I truly admire about Obama is he is not walking around pointing a finger at what the Bush administration did nor is he saying anything about the problems going on in EU that is causing problems for jobs here. He's not walking around crying but still trying to find a way against difficult odds.
You are as stupid as " we" think....
But YOU are much worse my un-thinking, un-educated, idiotic friend!
What will you do if they ever enact an intellegence test at the polls?
Texas, Thanks for the comment, but I think you missed our lede: "As we and our NBC/WSJ pollsters have been saying for the past few months, this presidential contest is a 50-50 race."
Thanks for reading.
6dogs...
President Obama is "not walking around pointing a finger at what the Bush administraion did".
????????
Are you a comedy writer ???
Not as...
If there had been an "intelligence test at the polls" four years ago President Obama would still be Senator Obama.
What are you saying here Tony -
that all you RWNJ mental giants would have insured we had a "Vice-President Palin" and her most intellegent grasp of American History 101?????
Right!
Your genius is demonstrated.
The Media has finally started to vet Obama. A process that should have started in 2007 and 2008. Unfortunately they were so enthralled with the thought of the first black President they neglected their duty.
Not as stupid...
Your crystal ball doesn't work...so don't bother trying to read people's minds. I thought John McCain was a lousy candidate and held my nose when I pulled the lever. But I didn't really have much choice since the media kept Mr. Obama as a man of mystery and what was actually available on him was a resume about the size of a micro-mini skirt. He also seemed to have a bit of the look of a loon to him.
So my response to your post stands as written..."If there had been an intelligence test at the polls" four years ago, President Obama would still be Senator Obama.
And your "genius" has not been demonstrated.
IR
So it is a Million that lets you into the defense contract business.
Maybe this solider allowance will be part of the defense spending cuts that are looming with the sequestration deal that Congress signed off lst year
Why doesn't old Jim Davis just donate his million to some service organization.
tick tock tick tock! Cant wait for tomorrow, will it bring screams and horrors? Or will it be a non issue? One thing for sure the unions will have a caravan of people out scraping the streets for anyone who can meet the voting criteria. Which in some people's eyes mean...... breathing!
tick tock tick tock! Cant wait for tomorrow, will it bring screams and horrors? Or will it be a non issue? One thing for sure the unions will have a caravan of people out scraping the streets for anyone who can meet the voting criteria. Which in some people's eyes mean...... breathing!
Jolly -
Since when do they have to be breathinng? Those who vote from the cemetaries are insulted!
Do you honestly, in your heart, believe that no republican has ever cheated in an election?
Republicans aren't the one's clamoring for same-day voter registration and railing against laws requiring photo ID's at the polls.
My perceptions of Obama are not good. My perceptions of Romney are worse. My perceptions of our current political climate are dismal.
I love how the pundits are scratching their heads wondering why the Messiah went from Chicago to Minnesota and did not make a stop in Wisconsin. Maybe because he knows Walker is going to win and he doesn't need an additional loser albatross around his neck? This is the sure sign there is turmoil in O-ville.
Because everybody in the Midwest knows that Wisconsin is the Texas of the North.
Really, Ruken? You mean the state where the GOP just took control of in 2010? And where the Dems and unions were pinning BIG hopes on when they started this recall mess? The state about whose recall election the DNC Chairwoman said was very important on the national scale (well, until she finally recognized the writing on the wall and did her little sour grapes thing)?
Pretty telling when the top Democrat (PresiDEBT Obama) actually had to clarify his position and SAY he was for Barrett? Wouldn't that be a foregone conclusion?
Yes.
Did I stutter?
TexasT - in political discussions on TV over the weekend, it is well understood by people who know what is going on behind the scenes, that Bill Clinton not only torpedoed Obama's negative Bain Capital strategy but he was also giving Obama a message that his whole campaign strategy of negative messages about Romney is WRONG !
OOOOOOH, very clever of you, Ruken. You been saving that one up?
How's the taste of sour grapes right about now, Ruken?
Yes.
You mad?
No, not at ALL, Ruken. Glad to see you have had something to occupy your mind with for a few months!
Indeed.
Ruken, it's all going to be okay, I promise. We all realize that small things entertain small minds, so glad to see you found your particular little groove!
Is that what your girlfriend said?
Are you back to 7th grade remarks there Ruken ? Why is it that when you Dems are losing an argument you feel the need to attack the sexuality of those you are losing to ? Why the sexual hangups ??
Yes. I felt to better communicate with you guys I better stoop down a few levels.
Hey guys, don't feed Ruken. She is a troll.
I have been down this path with this loser. She lied about having a college degree and typically answers posts with such ingenious comments as "I know you are but what am I?"
She is best left alone.
So how does it feel having an internet troll be more successful than you Blue Collar Auto?
Or are you too busy dodging gangs in that slumtown of yours?
When we get over the arguments about who is paying for candidates ads (clue: ALL politicians are prostitutes), we still have a few facts: Obama and his flunky Holder have set themselves up in direct opposition to the will of the people. Arizona, Oklahoma and Alabama wrote tough immigration enforcment laws, Holder fought them. Holder is being considered for contempt of Congress action on fighting disclosure of the gun running to Mexican drug cartels, SUPERVISED BY BATFE and Holder! And don't forget the "Defense of America" act, which allows the government to destroy your rights, simply by claiming you are a terrorist. Throw ALL incumbents out in 2012!
amen!!
The real reason the Repub Right hates A.G. Holder is that he is actually doing something about the prevalent white collar crime that has run our economy into the ground. Biggest Medicare fraud busts, Investment fraud busts, Insider Trading, Mortgage Fraud gangs and so on. The rabid right even blames Holder for the crimes that started under Bush and were ignored by his 3 A.G.'s. Holder's DOJ is actually doing something this time and getting heat for exposing/prosecuting the criminals.
Every time we get GOP administration in office white collar crime and fraud spreads like a cancer. Then when a Dem gets in office the sociopaths say it all happened on their watch when the prosecutions start.
Keep Holder on the job and even more criminals will go to jail. If Romney and a Tea Congress have their way its get out of jail free cards thanks to expiration of the Statute of Limitations.
The will of the people of Arizona? You mean the will of the few who wrote those laws don't you? Do you really want to find out what the will is of ALL the people of Arizona- not just the people who have hijacked the political process? Arizona right now is a national joke, your Governor, Sheriff Arpaio, the loony birther Sec. of State- need I go on?
Lets see...the AZ. law ONLY stated that they were to (to make this short & sweet) enforce "federal" law!!! The loons are on the left and out of touch with Americans! I dont care what color you are but if you are here "illegally" GET OUT!! The feds have no business in state laws anyway. I know its the feds job, but THEY AINT DOIN IT BUD!! And when the states vote and pass a law that they can pass, then the liberal courts come in and tell them they cant do that! I HATE LIBERALISM!! JUST A CANCER!!
obama is a failure; that's not a perception problem; it's a stone cold fact
And being a far better president than bush, what does that make bush?
Here we go with "Bush" again.....tedium once more.
Once again, it show an incompetent bafoon in the Oval Office... The same Dunce who almost lost in a democracic primary to a convicted felon... But you don't hear much about that on MSNBC..LOL... Our lazy, good for nothing leader, is clueless... Can't wait to hear from " Ugly Redhead" on this one..
@ Romneyismynightmare,
obama is a failure; that's not a perception problem; it's a stone cold fact
"And being a far better president than bush, what does that make bush?"
It makes Bush a thing of the Past, we are dealing with the "PRESENT". Get onboard.
NOBAMA 2012
On Sunday, George Will pressed the Romney spokesman, Eric F. on whether Romney embraces the Ryan plan. Eric stated that Romney does. When voters find out exactly what means for them, I think that will definitely impact how they view Romney. Right now, voters, by and large, don't know exactly what Romney will implement. Krugman mocked Romney's website, which is supposed to provide detailed specifics on Romney's plans.
I don't know a single Democrat who thought this election was going to anything but close. And certainly the Obama campaign has always thought it would be close.
Hey Lynn, I'm not sure how old you are but if we take no action, Medicare and Medicaid will not even survive by the time I retire in its present state. I don't profess to know all the ins and outs of the Ryan plan but at least he put a plan out there for discussion and negotiation. Even former President Clinton acknowledged it was a reasonable starting point for discussions and admired the initiative and gumption it took in broke-down DC. That's what we used to do, negotiate and compromise for the good of the nation.
lol then you havent been looking at the posts on the very message boards yu post on; because hundreds of libs/dems here predicted it wouldn't even be close; that obama was going to wipe the floor with Romney! nice try though lol
he can't even wipe his own brown spot...
Good thoughts, Lynn. There is a huge difference between recognizing that Medicare and Social Security need to be modified and adopting the Ryan budget. I think when the general public who aren't political junkies start paying attention they will look at Romney in a whole new way.
Lynn, I think we all know there will be cuts to entitlements down the road, but I, for one, would rather President Obama do it than Romney. (As Wanda Sykes, the comedian once said "oh sure, give the worst job in the country to the Black guy:) President Obama seems to be able to communicate with people well, and we need that kind of leader if cuts are required (Gov. Walker in Wisconsin being a prime example of the wrong type of leader for this.)
Lynn, I'm glad I'm not the only person who noticed that yesterday. I love that program and loved what Krugman said to the classic "check out mittromney.com" .... verbatim - "there's nothing there!" Made my morning!
Lynn,
Ryan has offered the best plan so far for eliminating the deficit and saving medicare and social security. If we do nothing, we reach the point that our creditors will not provide us any more money and we default on our debt. Our safety net disappears and no one receives any money form the government.
Do we really want to reach this point or do we slow growth to end the deficit and start paying down the national debt?
Barack Obama. Nice guy surrounded by idiots from the fringe elements. Why he hired the worst of the Clinton Team to head his administration is beyond me. Adds to the perception that he is just a puppet.
he HAD to hire Clinton's team; his own "team" is a bunch of race-baiting community activists from the streets of Chicago; nothing but race hustlers and poverty pimps
Former Secretary of Defense Gates, General Petraus, Ben Bernake, fringe elements? Really? I thought the beef about President Obama was that he kept the Bush folks on and continued many of those same policies?
But the fact that Romney has hired back most of bush's old advisers that brought us the Iraq war with tax cuts for the rich that created our huge deficit is just fine with repeat-a-liesdividesthepeople.
The republicans are unwilling to utter bush's name but are more than willing to bring back his failed policies that crashed our country when he was in office.
We have not recovered from bush, but let us return to the same bad policies only with more and larger permanent tax cuts for Romney.
Romney would take care away from our wounded veterans for more tax cuts for himself, are you surprised how un-patriotic he and the republican party are?
You seem to forget that Clinton left us with a good economy with low unemployment and a surplus that was predicted that would pay off our entire debt by 2010.
Instead of protecting America, the republicans were more interested in protecting the rich at the expense of American prosperity. After the republicans drove our economy into a ditch protecting the rich, they now want to blame anyone but themselves.
VOTE FOR THE FREEDOM TO VOTE....VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT 2012
Americans...
You listen way too much to what the President says in his stump speeches.
Hint: (He's a liar !)
history will show clinton to be just another rich guy out for his own kind and all the charity he so called does will not erase the millions he threw into poverty and death, counting kids and prisoners, doing the welfare reform all the while helping the rich during his presidency. he should have went after those abusing the system instead off all American citizens. because some familys were decimated. whole generation of new prisoners and americans in poverty because parents couldn'd care for their kids. mostly single moms. clinton started the right way swing of the democratic party and the loss of the middle class world war 1ers mand 2ers who fought for for just this dream that is no more.
Tony my thoughts don't come from some stump speech they come from my memory of how things went down.
You decided they were a lie because they don't support your belief system. I know in your mind bush was perfect, the whole world was perfect until for some unknown reason our country went and elected a democrat. Then the economy crashed and it was all Obama's fault.
All the republicans in the house voted for the Ryan budget, Romney called it marvelous and it is nothing more than the recipe to put America back in a recession.
We know republican leadership is dumb enough to vote for a recession on purpose, but are you?
proudamericanveteran said,
"Barack Obama. Nice guy surrounded by idiots from the fringe elements. Why he hired the worst of the Clinton Team to head his administration is beyond me. Adds to the perception that he is just a puppet.
So now we are not just blaming Bush for Obama's failure, the Clinton team gets part of the blame as well.
It just keeps getting better.
NOBAMA 2012.
Amy; Congres isnt Republican majority-led as you stated. Repubs have the House and Dems are the majority in the Senate. why do you left-wingnuts need to lie and distort? is it a sign of your desperaton?
Fux News' business model is based upon lies and distortion. True story.
the Senate is Dem-majority leftard; not my fault you cant handle facts. so rant on about Fox new idiot
Ed in Columbus.... can you back up that allegation with any thing other than opinion?
I'll not hold my breath.
NOBAMA2012, they sent a "community organizer" to do the job of a CEO... NEVER AGAIN!
Ed in Columbus - Lefty's hate Fox News because they expose things that they and the Liberal press want to keep quiet. Al Sharpton said he was going to shut down Conservative media through the FCC. That failed too !
Liberal's frustration comes from the fact that with Conservative media stations, talk radio and internet websites like Red State, you can' t control the message anymore !!
bo...
Have you ever heard of the filibuster rule?
The GOP in the senate has used this technique more than any time in history.
Cannot even pass a jobs transportation bill to fix our highways, bridges and airports because of the filibuster rule.
Hope anyone running in 2012 for Senator will be for burying this archaic rule that prevents the Senate from taking a up or down vote on any bill.
Im sure that if they could try to pass a bill that didnt include raising taxes they would pass.
The fillibuster subverts the will of the majority and puts the control of the Senate in the hands of the minority. Are you too blind to see that fact? Or are you being willfully ignorant of it?
When obozo thought about the job of running this country he was so stoned he thought they were talking about RUINING this country and said HEY, I CAN DO THAT JOB!!
He was right!
Quite right, jollyoldsoul1 -- but then only if it's paid for somehow, preferably by cutting the budget. No, not fuel subsidies -- oil companies still need those and never you mind the record profits you see them posting about in the news. No, not the military budget -- our bloated weapons contractors need to be able to sell their new toys; wouldn't want them peddling their wares overseas, now would you? No, not government pensions (unless they belong to anyone but a member of congress) -- those hardworking politicians you read about who're taking vacations every couple of weeks need that money more than the nation's policemen, firefighters, and teachers. Let's just take it out of the hide of the working class and cut their public education funding that their taxes supposedly already pay for -- stupid kids will be more likely to vote how we want 'em to, right? And how about their government-run retirement fund that they paid into their entire working lives -- just because we forced 'em to pay into it doesn't mean the government should be forced to give something back for it, right? And let's axe their medical care that, oh, hey, they also paid into for their entire working lives -- remember, folks, public mandates are bad unless we're already taking your money under 'em and trying to give you nothing in return! And -- what the hell -- let's cut public infrastructure, too, since all our bridges and roads and whatnot are in such superlative shape.
Nice little Catch-22 the GOP senate minority is running there. Someone please explain to me how these policies from the right are a good idea without quoting a bunch of BS you heard on some bloviating, biased, so-called "news" channel.
At least the left compromises some of the time and doesn't vote strictly along party lines on virtually everything. The right makes virtually NO compromise whatsoever (the voting records speak for themselves, folks) and then expects me to blame the president for their inaction? You gotta be kidding me.
Factory orders just announced as down and under expected. April revised DOWN.
There's hope and change for ya'.
What a bunch of clueless sycophants.
snapshot in time
snapshot of the failed obama agenda
Things are sure looking bad for all you democrat-communists.
snapshot in time
And tomorrow in Wisconsin , this will be a full featured movie in time?
The Wisconsin voters are trying to pay for union supported state employees who
o make 48% more than the private sector for the same job
o health insurance that is rated 2 times better than that of the private sector
o pension plans that are 3 times higher than that of the private sector

SCOTT WALKER ....YES HE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gee, my "perception" of Obama hasn't changed since day one. He is a "hollow man", no substance, no experience, no clue. His idea of handling a tough situation is "make a great speech". He's been in over his head since the inaugeration, people are just now catching on....oh, excuse me, their perception is changing.
Now why would I be surprised that a person stuck on stupid would not change their perception? LOL
why would ANYBODY be suprised a leftard with his head stuck up obama's anus couldnt admit he's a failure?
Empirical evidence indicates that he is not a failure. True story.
Im seeing a lot of Scratched off Hope and Change bumper stickers here in Detroit.
Ed,Because you say "true story" makes it so? LOL
Isn't a 'true story' an oxymoron??
Slodon -
Much like "Congressional ethics?"
Or Intelligent Republican
The first thing I remember about Obama's presidency was signing over trillions of dollars to corporations, now before you all jump up and down that it started with Bush holds no water with me. He is the PRESIDENT and didn't have to sign any money over but he did. So trillions went into a 'stimulus' package which consisted of a 'shaft' for the taxpayer. This money went into institutions that charge every taxpayer fees for swiping cards because the government has passed laws that protect their right to do this.
HE"S THE PRESIDENT why didn't he stop this? crickets chirping
Amused...
...as opposed to the scores of intelligent Democrat voters. You live in a glass house, hang on to your stones.
I am not a Dem or a Rep, but........
Obama has helped the banks, car companies, investment firms, the unemployed, the illegals, Africans with AIDS that wanted to immigrate to the U.S., middle eastern countries, etc
He has done NOTHING for the middle class.........I would not vote for him.
jw...
Good point...the man has pretty much worked on things to help just about everyone except the middle class folks he's always saying are the only ones he wants to help.
Of course, he is a liar...so I don't know why anyone would believe anything he says.
to Reality Check - agree !
"Hope and Change " ?? It was all hype and bull$hit !!
PresiDEBT Obama's record:
Highest sustained unemployment since the Great Depression.
Lowest employment participation rate in over 30 years.
Highest deficits in history.
Adding the most in the least amount of time to the national debt.
Highest percentage of Americans recieving government aid in history.
The only credit rating downgrade in our history.
Yes, this Administration IS very historic!
Let's take PresiDEBT Obama at his very own words--"if I haven't fixed the economy in 3 years, call me former Presient Obama".
Let's make it happen in 2012!
And yet many Americans with functioning brain stems realize that the financial collapse of 2008 was the greatest contributor to your cute little factoids.
And Ed, many of us also realize that the President was elected to FIX things, not make them worse!
Have you heard the old saying--The world doesn't want to hear about the labor pains, it just wants to see the baby"--meaning, don't keep telling us about the problem, just show us how you fixed it!
Oh I see Mikey, you are conceding that your first post is crap? I agree.
Ed, as usual, you blather on and on. I WOULD have a battle of wits with you, but really, you are only half-equipped and I don't like to pick on handicapped people!
Have a nice day and a greater tomorrow watching the returns come in from Wisconsin!
In your dreams!!! OBAMA 2012...the one percenters will NOT win. Anyone who straps his pet to the roof of his car and says he loves it, well, can you imagine what he'll do to us? If you're so upset about fixing things, why don't you give Bohner a call? We now all know why "he" was crying. It's tough running on destruction...it's not a winning strategy.
antgne,
I wouldn't go around spouting off about a guy that supposedly tied his dog to a roof. At least he didn't EAT his dog, right? You know...people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...
What about someone who ate his dog?
Woof !
Matthew,
Here is the quote...
What this ultimately means that both sides have played to an issue that should have never been brought up...
Woof !
The Democrat peanut gallery launched that dog on the roof of the car story to (naturally) try to make Mr. Romney look heartless,,,as in, if he doesn't care about his own dog's wellbeing, why would he care about anyone else's wellbeing.
And then as is the norm...because so little is ever allowed to be mentioned about Mr. Obama's background, the story came out about Mr. Obama's "hold the mustard, I'll have my poodle neat" moment.
Of course...as he had been told by his friend, Mr. Obama "took on the powers" of that poodle and they have served him well.
JH - what do mean by "failed experiment"? Do you mean electing an African American President of the United States was a failed experiment?
Dianne, electing a Marxist/Socialist, "community organizer" is the failed experiment NOT the fact that Barak is half white. I think that Condi Rice would make a GREAT president!
there it is! Straight to the race card!
That was my point. Based on the remainder of his post his "failed experiment" comment is racism at the extreme.
How does one pointing out failures become racist? Diane, walk your happy self down to my home here in Detroit, take a walk out on John R for a few blocks and see what happens.
All they have is the race card. I tell people I voted for the ONLY black man running in '08. Any guess who that was? He didnt make it past the primaries. Alan Keys. NOT because he is black but BECAUSE I like his "IDEAS". Something bozo, peeelosi & good ol harry r. does NOT have.
The Liberal media is going to have a very tough time getting Obama re-elected. It was one thing to get a man with no record elected in 2008 based on a dream of "Hope and Change" and a vast number of inexperienced voters. Now we've had 4 years of poor leadership you have to vote based on the current reality. Obama can not lead. No matter how MSNBC, CNN etc tries to spin it. Who is seriously going to vote for 4 more years of this guy?? VOTE FOR CHANGE IN 2012!
The polls indicate almost half the country will vote for Obama. true story.
Hey Ed--look at PresiDEBT Obama's "record" (see post #23). THERE is the "true" story!
Obama promised "Hope and Change" but now he is simply "hoping" that the voting public doesn't notice all the "changes" that have happened on his watch!
Ed, if that is a true story then more than half the country will vote for Romney.
NOBAMA2012, the Marxist/Socialist Experiment has FAILED!
I'd say the No Child Left Behind experiment has failed.
Ed in Columbus...You can bet your life on it! His opposition is a candidate who when first suggested, half of them were repulsed at the idea. What would really amaze me is if the country hasn't seen the behavior of a congress whose only goal is to see him lose. Disgraceful! If there's any group of people I'd love to see out, it's those very people who "think" they've got us fooled. We do have ears. When it's time to vote, I'll be voting for the guy with the brains...you know, the guy who accomplished that "Mission." As to the others, how could anyone fall for people who out and out say all they care about is defeating their opponent. Hello. We the people need our reps to be loyal to us...and U.S. Just sayin...
smith, do you have any clue how electoral politics work?
Ruken...Do you know who WROTE no child left behind? Bush, out of trying to "reach across the isle" let good ol Ted Kennedy write it. NO COMPROMISE!!! Thats what was wrong with Bush and MOST of the repubs. I dont want to get along with the democRATS, I want them ran out of town! They are (their socialist ways) a cancer for America.
Ed in Columbus, Your ongoing arrogance is exceeded only by your lack of posting anything of substance. You have wobbled all over with your posts while totally ignoring the article is about fading public perseption of Obama's leadership.
If you think your negative posts at #21.1, #21.3, #23.1 and Z#23.3 do anything to support Obama's failures, then you might be suffering from Delusions of Adequacy.
The media wants one thing ... a close election. Obama should win in a landslide, DOW is up about 5k since he took office, US auto industry saved, 4+ Million jobs created, Depression averted, OBL Dead .... but the media needs to down play all that ... after all, where it to become clear that Obama should win in a lanslide, then you don;t need numerous channels of 24/7 pundits ... and those are the only jobs the media cares about, their own.
Media is complicit in the misinformation campaign because it serves their purpose...
to remain employed.
What a disgrace. MSNBC has to nerve to criticize FAUX News for all of their rightwing nut job reporting and they are guilty of the same thing. They may not initiate the lies but they seldom call the rightes out when they come on TV calling the President out of his name and saying he has done nothing to help the country in 3 1/2 years.
There are lies and there are damn lies and only Rachel and Lawrence stay on top of these things.
Joe...
Well if Mr. Obama "created" those "4+ Million jobs"...as you claim he did, then there should be "4+ million" extra votes in his pocket and that should hand him the election.
My only question is...do you actually believe the president "created" those "4+million jobs" ?????
And if Mr. Obama gets the credit every single time a person finds a job, does he also get the credit when someone loses a job ? Does Mr. Obama get the credit when an employee retires, gets sick, dies, or quits and a new person is hired to fill that job. The company I work for added 3 people this year...should they send 'Thank You' cards to the President...even though he had zip to do with their jobs ???
You need to stop listening to skinny guy up at the campaign podium...he lies, he obfuscates, and his stretching of fact is the stuff off legends.
By the way...if I quit my job and take a higher paying position with a competitor, is that the President's doing ???
