Nancy Reagan met with GOP candidate Mitt Romney at her home in Los Angeles. They had cookies and lemonade and she offered her "firm endorsement."
SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Former First Lady Nancy Reagan became the latest Republican heavyweight to officially endorse Mitt Romney's presidential bid this afternoon after a meeting at her home in Los Angeles.
"Mitt and Ann Romney joined me at my home this afternoon for some lemonade and cookies and I offered my firm endorsement of his campaign for President," Mrs. Reagan, 90, said in a statement. "Although I know he will not be the official nominee of the Republican Party until August in Tampa, Florida, I am thrilled that after Tuesday's primary he is the clear choice, having won the magic number of 1,144 convention delegates."
The former first lady, who met with all the Republican presidential candidates prior to the NBC/Politico debate at the Reagan library last September, said former President Ronald Reagan would have liked Romney's personal background as well.
"Ronnie would have liked Governor Romney's business background and his strong principles, and I have to say I do too. I believe Mitt Romney has the experience and leadership skills that our country so desperately needs, and I look forward to seeing him elected president in November," Mrs. Reagan's statement said.
The Republican establishment continues to coalesce around Romney since it became clear he would be the party's standard bearer in November. In March, former President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara offered a formal endorsement for Romney in Houston. Earlier this month, their son, former President George W. Bush told a reporter he too was backing Romney. And last night, former secretaries of state Condoleeza Rice and George Schultz offered their support to the presumptive GOP nominee at a fundraiser outside of San Francisco.

Those who were adults during the Reagan years remember it as an unspectacular time. His presidency will go down in history with a yawn except for the part where he became so senile during his final years that Nancy had to practically run the country. Nancy's endorsement is laughable and means nothing. We used to say "never trust anyone over 30" and I am telling you that now as an old man. You younger people should not trust any old man running for office. They are totally out of touch with reality and the demands of todays world.
Ronald Reagan's Presidency will keep taking a hit as time goes forward.......For one his trickle down economic policy, and his Starve the Beast Strategy has been proven a failure and was the start of the destruction of the middle class..... When all is said and done, Ronald Reagan will be somewhere around George W as respect goes......
You know, the first time I heard that term - trickle down economics - the first thing I thought of was that it sounded like somebody was going to p*ss on my back...and 30 years later, yeah...I was right.
I thought GW caused this mess. When are you guys ever going to get off the pitty train. I could name so many failed Presidents that it would not be funny, a lot of which are Dems. Give it a rest, and own up to your won parties failures. It is getting really old!!!

When we are over his policy failures and we turn back the current GOP who wants to continue his agenda and on steroids, then we will move on....

I don't listen to fox news, I read my info. But I will say this, I agree Bush sucked, but I am over it!! I am ready for a person that will truely fix this country and Obama couldn't do it, if he had 40 years.

You truly need to do some research....You are not worth my time....You are totally ignorant to what has been going on the last 3 years...... President Obama has created more jobs in 2 years then George W did in 8.....There is so much President Obama has done, look it up, know what you are talking about....and if the GOP cared more about the PEOPLE than about getting power back, this economy would have moved even faster....The President cannot pass his own bills !!!!! There is a jobs bill that has been in Congress for months that would create 2 million jobs rebuilding the infrastructure and the GOP will not do a damn thing because they want to sabotage the President......and 2 millions jobs would bring the unemployment rate to the 6 range or lower and that would be bad for the GOP......Party first, PEOPLE SECOND, that's the GOP.... Thank god there many people now know what the GOP has done this last 3 years and having the Peoples best interest at heart HAS NOT BEEN IT........

Nancy Reagan: ah,yes! She serves as a bracing reminder of the ongoing hypocricy of the GOP. Remember how Joe McCarthy and his successors demonized the Soviets for having children inform on their parents for counter-revolutionary speech and activities? Nobody raised a peep, however, when "just-say-no Nancy" and her supporters urged children to rat out their folks for in-home drug consumption.

So Patriotic American what makes YOU the expert on Alzheimer's. At least she didn't make her statement endorsing Romney from a teleprompter. Being 90 years of age does not make one carry the diagnosis of Alzheimer's. I personally know many people in their 90's who show ZERO evidence of this disease. And if you were a true Patriotic American, you would have found that President Reagan will go down as a true American, beloved by more than those who are enamored by your buddy OBAMA. So stop using the American flag to promote your politics--you are a disgrace!

Read Kessler's book about the comments the Secret Service agents had aboiut the Presidents and their First Ladies they personally respected. It seems that the consensus is that ALL the DEMOCRATIC presidents were scumbags--Kennedy, LBJ, Carter, Clinton and now the ALMIGHTY and ORDAINED OBAMA and his Racist wife. Just the opposite feelings they have for just about all the REPUBLICAN Presidents--Reagen, Ford, Bush 41 and Bush 43. Their statements speak the truth.

It is sad that after Romney turned the Reagan Library into his lie-brary in his 2008 one-on-one debate with McCain, that partisanship endorses a candidate that is a complete contradiction to the honesty of Ronald Reagan. Her son Ronnie has the integrity to reject Romney and her step-son Michael is the liar in the family who is nearly as corrupt as Romney himself.

It's not hate...It's anger and frustration about our economic futures and how much more the republican party will be able to decimate it before the American people wise up and reign them in. Other than that....I sleep just fine with a roof over my head...for now anyways. I'm concerned if Robme gets in there it'll be just more of the same only worse and my family and I will be having to move to a new neighborhood under an overpass.
