Nancy Reagan endorses Mitt Romney

Nancy Reagan met with GOP candidate Mitt Romney at her home in Los Angeles. They had cookies and lemonade and she offered her "firm endorsement."

SAN DIEGO, Calif. --  Former First Lady Nancy Reagan became the latest Republican heavyweight to officially endorse Mitt Romney's presidential bid this afternoon after a meeting at her home in Los Angeles.

"Mitt and Ann Romney joined me at my home this afternoon for some lemonade and cookies and I offered my firm endorsement of his campaign for President," Mrs. Reagan, 90, said in a statement.  "Although I know he will not be the official nominee of the Republican Party until August in Tampa, Florida, I am thrilled that after Tuesday's primary he is the clear choice, having won the magic number of 1,144 convention delegates."

The former first lady, who met with all the Republican presidential candidates prior to the NBC/Politico debate at the Reagan library last September, said former President Ronald Reagan would have liked Romney's personal background as well.

"Ronnie would have liked Governor Romney's business background and his strong principles, and I have to say I do too. I believe Mitt Romney has the experience and leadership skills that our country so desperately needs, and I look forward to seeing him elected president in November," Mrs. Reagan's statement said.

The Republican establishment continues to coalesce around Romney since it became clear he would be the party's standard bearer in November. In March, former President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara offered a formal endorsement for Romney in Houston. Earlier this month, their son, former President George W. Bush told a reporter he too was backing Romney. And last night, former secretaries of state Condoleeza Rice and George Schultz offered their support to the presumptive GOP nominee at a fundraiser outside of San Francisco.

For this important decision I hope she used the same astrologer she and Bonzo used to use for important national decisions.

Such a pathetic exploitation of an elderly woman. Then, again, Mitt is used to exploiting others for his own personal gain.

Shame on all of you who elect to slam a 90 yr old lady. I know I want four more years of NOT.. NOT any jobs, NOT lower gas prices, NOT a better economy, NOT a stronger military, shall I say more? I can honestly say... NOT on four more years of our current leadership. Anything is better than what we currently have and I for one would rather take a chance on Mitt or anyone else as opposed for four more year of this administration!!! Oh wait, I am still waiting for this "change" that was promised four years ago.

justa, Interesting piece on CNN tonight regarding jobs. During his four years as Governor of Massachusetts, employment in that state increased by 5,500; during Obama's 3 1/2 years as President, Massachusetts has gained over 24,000 jobs.

Thought you'd like to know a few facts. Oh, and by the way, Presidents don't have any control over gasoline prices, but you might ask your fellow Republicans in the House why they tacked on $billions for oil companies to help those poor companies pay for exploration and drilling. Exxon/Mobil, btw, made $9,400,000,000 after tax profit during the last quarter of last year - more than $10,000,000 per day!

Hey Bruce, ya gotta give me more than one state employment rating to convince me about the unemployment rate. I for one don't live in MA and "your man" has not done squat the past four years. BTW, I am well aware of what the presidents can and can't do to control the gas prices. Fact remains, your "man" has not done a thing to CHANGE what he claimed he would do four years ago. I would rather have bugs bunny as president the next four years than Obama, thank you very much for the comment from the peanut gallery.

We have Obummer for the past 3 1/2 years has sold this country out, and than we have Mitt. It seems to me that we could find 2 better people qualified for the Presidency than these 2. Either one gets elected were doomed. Vote for noe of the above and lets start this over. Unfortunately the liberals will wake up their dead cousins to vote. Both sides a junk, vote everyone out and lets start over, let's get some REAL AMERICANS in this race. Time for the revolution.

Obama has NOT sold us out! He pulled us out of the toilet.

Time for yet another "economy update" for the conservatives!

Unemployment has been steadily dropping for the past year.

It takes time to fix a disaster the size of Bush's!

25 months of positive job growth after Bush's record setting 800,000 jobs lost in JUST ONE MONTH!

2 1/2 years of positive GDP after 1 1/2 years of negative growth thanks to GW Bush and GOP policy!

More oil being produced Domestically than in the past 10 years!

Exports at an ALL TIME HIGH!

trade deficit at an ALL TIME LOW!

Stock market up from 7500 at the end of Bush to approaching 13000 today.

MORE gas being produced than EVER before, in fact the oil companies are EXPORTING gas to china for EXTRA profit!

what party voted against STOPPING corporate subsidy and loopholes, GOP.

what party pushed through the XL pipeline but REFUSED to add provisions that some of the oil STAY in the US, GOP!

Yes, Nixon resigned AND gave Gerald Ford the presidency in return for a pardon for all "High crimes and misdemeanors" to save the country from having to prosicute a president because he would have went to jail.

Great foreign policy president, did alot of worthwile things in office, but domestically.....I sincerely thought he would declare martial law in 1969-'70.
