More 2012: Warren admits to claiming Native-American status

MASSACHUSETTS: The story that just keeps on keepin’ on…  “Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren acknowledged for the first time late Wednesday night that she told Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania that she was Native American, but she continued to insist that race played no role in her recruitment,” the Boston Globe writes.

Warren said in a statement, “At some point after I was hired by them, I . . . provided that information to the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard. My Native American heritage is part of who I am, I’m proud of it and I have been open about it.”

The Globe does point out: “Two key people who recruited her to Harvard have said they did not know of her purported heritage or take it into account when hiring her. The school did not promote her as a Native American when she was hired, despite the fact that it was under intense pressure to diversify its faculty with more minorities.”

I suppose comb-over is going to want to see her birth certificate now as well. Republicans are just offended that groups of previously oppressed people have managed to crawl out from under their control. You can just smell the fear.

Just another example of liars creating laws for the rest of us to follow. From the White House to the Page.

Where will it end? Didn't the Romans start out this way.

Well... if you aren't satisfied with the way things are happening in Washington then you need to send someone different. Someone who has clearly gamed the system is part of the problem not part of the solution. If they vote her in they deserve what they get... just like Obama.

Elizabeth Warren should be ashamed of herself for attempting to benefit from a program designed to help the people her ancestors attempted to eliminate, but then again, White Women are the biggest winners of the Civil Rights struggles which was paid for by 246 years of American slavery coupled with 100 years of Jim Crow laws against Black people. Anyone who supports her or anyone associated with her deserve the leadership they end up with.

Call me cynical, but I believe the people at Harvard are lying.

the key part of that quote... purported heritage... she has stated in prior interviews in previous weeks that she doesn't actually know for a fact if she is or isn't.

If she selected 'Native American' on her application, you can bet the universities considered that.

            I also question this:

Warren said in a statement, “At some point after I was hired by them, I . . . provided that information to the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard.

After? Really? We'll probably never know if she put 'native American' on her application. Those records will be sealed.

The same type of situation happened with Brooksley Born, the 7th chairman of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission. If Congress and Larry Summers had listened to her this whole economic mess could have been averted. Google her or watch the Frontline story.

Weeks ago, it was reported that she put that she was Native American on her resume because "everyone said her Grandfather looked like he was Native America with high cheek bones".

If she's got proof that she's NA, then fine. Otherwise she's just like the Yahoo CEO, putting false information on her resume... ie lying for personal gain.

Well the democrats have rigged the system so that its an advantage to mention you are a minority. Its pretty clear that a caucasion man named Schlitz marries a spanish or oriental or indian women named Lopez that he should take her name instead of his so their kids can claim minority status. A college or business who has one person whose name is schlitz and the other is Lopez and they are under pressure to hire minorities- which will they hire? And its ridiculous for this white women to be claiming indian heritage. But then again the democrats are encouraging people to game the system. Too bad we cant just be all americans thats what i have tried to do instead of emphasizing i am european. We are doomed for strife unless we can get the courts to say we are all equal 10/10ths of a person - nothing less means no peace.

Why do you use the term "claim" in your title of this piece? It implies a falsehood. Apparently there was none. You're title is misleading.

Unfortunately, she lied. It was purposeful in trying to get something to which she was not entitled. That is stealing. If that behavior represents your attitude and way of life, then she will represent you very, very well.

She makes very strong statements about the bad ways of the people in DC. Bad premise for a campaign that touts being honest.

So what? Obama on his census form claimed that he was "black" even though his mother is white. Shouldn't he have checked the "mixed race" box if he were being honest? Or does he hate his mother that much?

Jim she was a liberal white women who married a black which means her heritage will not count for much. Obama picked up those vibes and consequently he dont emphasize that half of his heritage. Sad but remember liberal people who take up for others and not their own kind are mentally disturbed.

I really don't believe you were ever a Warren supporter or you would know what is Warren's platform. Intelligent people vote on the issues the candidate stands for, not the color of their hair, or like Brown they happen to buy a pick up truck to give the impression he is a man's man. No difference.

Brown is for unregulated Wall Street. Warren is not.

The discussion is not whether she has a drop of NA blood or not. Her motives for exploiting it are troublesome.

..., and what is Brown's motive for accepting all that campaign cash from Wall Street then voting to against regulations. And on superficial matters, there is that pesky pick up truck purchase to pretend he is a regular guy. It is all semantics.

Family lore is not always right so she should get a DNA test to see if she has any native American blood in her. With all the issues of the world, this is no big deal. Mitt keeps on claiming he created jobs but has no way to prove it and the Republican Party praises him for something Mitt cannot really prove.

I want a politician who can do the job, be fairly honest and show up for work every day. All these nit picking issues have nothing to do with getting the right people into office.

Mitt says that running a venture capitalist company qualifies him for being president, I guess if you are a bat boy, you can claim you can run a baseball club, same difference.

GM and Chrysler (Daimler-Benz) the companies were not bailed out the union pensions for those companies were bailed out with taxpayer funds. If I were an investor I wouldn't invest in those companies either. GM was forced to build the Volt accommodating Obama's green agenda as a condition of their loan. We all know how that is working. No in their right mind would pay the price they are asking for a vehicle that not be able to provide a return on investment for 22 years. Ford didn't take taxpayer bailout and they are doing just fine.
