Subscribe to RSSMASSACHUSETTS: The story that just keeps on keepin’ on… “Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren acknowledged for the first time late Wednesday night that she told Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania that she was Native American, but she continued to insist that race played no role in her recruitment,” the Boston Globe writes.
Warren said in a statement, “At some point after I was hired by them, I . . . provided that information to the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard. My Native American heritage is part of who I am, I’m proud of it and I have been open about it.”
The Globe does point out: “Two key people who recruited her to Harvard have said they did not know of her purported heritage or take it into account when hiring her. The school did not promote her as a Native American when she was hired, despite the fact that it was under intense pressure to diversify its faculty with more minorities.”

I have been an independent voter for years. Scott Brown is as good as it get's in my opinion. If I lived in MA this would be the simplest vote I ever cast. I been saying this the last two months-watch this guy in 2016. My guess is Obama wins a very close election. If he choices a path of more spending & let's the fed print more money then any democrat that runs in 2016 is doomed to failure. By 2016 Brown will have added to his experience plus the country will finally get it- WE NEED A MODERATE NOT A LEFT/RIGHT WING president.
Brown is a politician, bought and paid for by AIPAC. He will vote as the Jews want him to vote. If Israel wants more money from America or more weapons, they have Scott Browns support. If Israel wants America to attack Iran, Scott Brown will give them his vote.
If the Jewish bankers want fewer or weakened regulations, they can count on Scott Brown. They own him and us.

Maybe she is not lying but her explanation sounds like Scott Hayes explaining why people who lost the loves in a war are not heroes.
For years my maternal grandmother told me she was 1/8th Cherokee. So I always thought I had some native American ancestry. Unless I want to take a DNA test to see if she just thought so or she knew so, I'll never know for sure.

It looks like we are in for 8 years of right wing thinking 2000-2008 & 8 more of left wing thinking. 2008-2016. This is exactly the wrong thing for this country. We need moderate officials that will vote against party lines. Let's elect them instead of tea party & progressive hacks who will not consider what is best for the country only what's best for their party.

This is one thing that has always bothered me- she is part American Indian, not Native American. If she is "native American", then so am I....in fact, I checked that box on something once, and when they asked me what Nation I belonged to, I said.....uhhhhhh......America????

Hmmm, Warren is just using her “minority” status like Obama used his “Foreign Student” status to gain entry to Columbia and the University of Chicago. He also used that status to acquire government grants for forwign students.

We should be holding our government "leaders" to a higher standard. We are getting what we deserve. When government officials or wanna-be's lie about their heritage for gain, cheat on their spouse, or in anyway act unethically they should be voted out of office or never be allowed in to start. If this means replacing everyone currently in government, I say lets get started. Again - this applies to conservatives and liberals, regardless of race, creed, colors, gender, sexual preference, etc.

You just showed your choice of "news " is lacking. The solindra story has been out for almost a year. It was a bundler for Obama who got favorable treatment by DOE and gave 500 million of taxpayer money to further Obamas green agenda. The loan was given a big red flag by the Bush administration but when Obama became president he pushed it through. Solindra went bankrupt 18 months after the loan was approved, but not before their lawyers with the Obama DOJ's approval put the investors in first position instead of the taxpayer. A unprecedented action by the DOJ Maybe you should startwatching real news instead of opinion shows. And... you can get off the Halliburton kick while Cheney was in office and even several years before that he resigned from there. Old liberal talking points. Obama is president and that is that. Stop blaming others for his failures. Take a look at Soros Funding (Father of Progressive liberalism) or Carlisle (Internationale monetary group). Get a clue.

How about a national death penalty for lying to the people to obtain political office, retain political office, or try to sell a bill? We could rid ourselves of an incompetent Congress and President! We would need massive execution halls for mass operations. Illinois and California would probably monopolize the facility for months alone! Sarcastic? MAYBE! The US is more polarized today than it was during the Civil War. The US has no leadership! no direction! Washington is all about parties in the White House and fights in Congress. The President doesn't even talk to his Democrat Congress! The news media created this fiasco by vetting an incompetent college professor from the corrupt Chicago Democrat Party. I think they knew that Obama would create selling news with his incompetence. Meanwhile, the people are in trouble. So, we add lying news journalists to the death penalty law. That would shutdown the New York Times in a week!

After all, the D's wholeheartedly support a President who claimed to be a "foreigner", for the sake of securing a scholarship, yet deride anyone who questions his citizenship as a "birther"... So, stretching the truth a bit about one's Indian/Native American/New World Aboriginal (pick your term - the last one, btw, is the only anthropologically correct one) would hardly strike your typical Democratic partisan as actionable. You can't gore a Democrat's ox because they are all sacred cows, never mind their own ethos when the issue redounds to the discredit of a Republican.

Warren's campaign screwed this up big time. It should have been a one day story. ya after i was hired i thought the schools might benefit from my heritage in regards to hiring standards. maybe not what voters wanted to hear but they would have forgot about quickly. not now. she looks like she is hiding something. then you ask yourself what else is she hiding. then you ask yourself well she can take the heat then we better wonder who were electing. this is such a close race & she so far has raised 4x the cash as brown and will outspend him in the general by 3 to 1. personally i think all her consumer protection efforts have been well guided. but i question whether she can be impartial to harsh realities of what some of these laws cost to enact. i question electing anyone who has no chance of ever even working with a republican while she is serving.
Like many Oklahomans, and like Elizabeth Warren, I have as much Native American blood as any other ethnic heritage. On official applications, which frequently ask the applicant's race for statistical purposes, I have often checked "Native American," a heritage of which I am proud. This is actually quite common among Oklahomans whose families have lived here since the late 19th and early 20th centuries. There is no ruse involved, just pride. Although I have not been able to prove it from official documents, like Ms. Warren, I know of my heritage from my parents who remember having Native American grandparents (we also have a picture of my father's grandmother which leaves no doubt as to her racial provenance -- documentary proof, notwithstanding). This is truly a tempest in a teapot and not worth anyone's time.

She needs to be fired. She lied on her application/interview for employment. That being said, the worst reason to hire someone is because of their race. Too many people feel that they are entitled to employment just because of their race. I don't want to be hired because I am black. I want to be hired because I am the best qualified and can do the job.

Did you know that in many states, people who are mostly white are classified as black if just one of their great grandparents is black? Warren wanted to declare herself as indian, much like other people want to be this or that, which is their right. Quite frankly, no one should care. The media giving any attention to something like this points toward a general bankrupt sense of clarity and duty. There is no story. Anywhere in America, she doesn't only have a case to be classified as american indian, she would often be automatically and systematically entered into the system as native american. Hell, less than 1/32 would be the same case. As for being Irish american, that's also a minority in this country, just not a systematically oppressed and hunted one. We pass most of the laws nowadays and that's why no one puts irish american on their passport. They've never even seen Ireland let alone spoken to someone from the old country. Native Americans were here first. They don't need to travel back to their roots. We pulled most of those roots up and burned them several generations ago eh?
