I too enjoyed a nice blend of work, visiting with friends for a Bar-B-Q, some golf and swimming. Taking politics out of the mix for a few days allowed some extra time to take a drive to the coast where I was able to spend time with family as well.

Your comment about singing reminded me of the wonderful PBS segment I enjoyed last Friday night.

The program showed the ceremony celebrating the Gershwin award presented to Hal David/Burt Bacharach for their contributions to music. The setting was at the Library of Congress with the president and Michelle Obama sitting front center. It was nice to see the two of them thoroughly enjoying the tribute. I have always been a huge fan of the David/Bacharach music, so this was a great way to spend an hour.

Feisty, I agree that Spanky is ridiculous in bringing up an ancient incident about Obama from a long time ago in which he neither hurt anyone nor got in legal trouble (thank goodness). That said, I think it's a little unfair to bring up the tragic situation in which Laura Bush accidentally killed someone (and it was her ex-boyfriend). This could happen to anyone. Besides, she was the first lady, not the president. I can't stand it when people put down the wives of the presidents--they did not get elected, did not serve as president. Hands off. I am just as upset about it when people unfairly criticize Michelle Obama. IMHO, Laura Bush is a classy lady who brought much-needed attention to the issue of children's literacy. Michelle is doing a similar thing with childhood obesity.

With TV ratings season coming on , I can see Trump's stake in getting some publicity. But I don't see what's in it for Mitten's. He did because many "little" people sent in $200 checks. Obama did not have someone like Sheldon Adelson write $25,000,000 worth of checks to his SUPER PAC. That's one person buying a future full of favors. I guess that is why Obama is for the 99% and Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, etc seem to favor the 1%. It's called payback.

Congress has to cooperate and when a significant element within Congress has nothing to do but defeat the President it will end up being one of the most do-nothing Congresses in history, thank God.
