And by Tuesday night, he’ll be able to ditch those modifiers,” the Washington Post writes. “Willard Mitt Romney is about to do what his father didn’t and no one in his church ever has. With Tuesday’s Texas primary, he is poised to secure the 1,144 delegates required to clinch the Republican presidential nomination at the party’s August convention.”
The AP also notes that Romney is set to clinch the nomination today, and will raise money with Donald Trump, someone he “has declined to repudiate” for his “fringe view” questioning that President Obama wasn’t born in the United States. “Trump again contended this week that Obama was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia, pointing to information in a catalog from a literary agency that represented Obama two decades ago. That view has been debunked repeatedly,” AP notes.
And there’s this: “Now that the issue of the president’s birth certificate has been laid to rest (mostly), some conservatives are turning their attention to a new obsession: Barack Obama's college transcripts,” the L.A. Times notes. “Last week, a website that already had offered a $10,000 reward for Obama's transcripts from Occidental College, Columbia University and Harvard Law School, increased the bounty to $20,000. About a year ago, Donald Trump, among the highest-profile ‘birthers,’ helped get the mini-movement started. After the president released his long-form birth certificate, Trump abruptly changed subjects: ‘The word is, according to what I’ve read,’ said Trump, ‘that he was a terrible student when he went to Occidental. He then gets into Columbia; he then gets to Harvard. ... How do you get into Harvard if you’re not a good student? Now maybe that's right or maybe it’s wrong, but I don't know why he doesn’t release his records.’”
The Boston Globe goes to Utah: “For Mormons, this is a potentially volatile moment. They are deeply proud that their faith’s most prominent adherent, Mitt Romney, is steps away from a presidential nomination and could push the faith further into the mainstream of American life. With these feelings, though, comes a nagging fear that their beliefs, often misunderstood, will again be subjected to scrutiny, even ridicule, on a national scale.”
Romney and John McCain got a crowd of about 5,000 on Memorial Day in San Diego, near his beach home in La Jolla.
On Monday, Memorial Day, Romney promised the world’s strongest military. He said he would maintain a military "with no comparable power anywhere in the world."
“A member of the National Labor Relations Board who was facing scrutiny for allegedly leaking sensitive information to a former adviser to Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, is stepping down, the NLRB said Sunday,” USA Today writes.

When Mitt gets the magic number to be the nominee, that will be the end of the story this year for Mitt. He will have no more win as the nominee. His American story has ended on a high note -

The Republican Party has a problem believing what most people believe. They don't believe in global warming, even as the country fries in historically high heat, Donald doesn't believe in the birth certificate system, and Romney doesn't believe in the Trinity, yet many evangelical leaders do believe in Romney.
I can't believe this is my father's Republican Party.

what Donald is doing by constantly staing this bull$hit is making fun of the United States of America's process of electing their president. We have the best intelligence in the world but, according to Trump, we were fooled by some guy from Kenya?
President Obama went through the same verification process as every presidential candidate - so unless Trump is willing to come out and say that our process sucks and it cannot verify a BIRTH CERTIFICATE, he should go away permanently (hopefully get himself preoccupied with getting fitted for another hair piece).
When will we see Willard's income tax filings for the last 10 years? And when will Willard show his face on a Sunday AM political show to answer questions?

Republicans should be careful about treading into education qualifications. Three of their biggiest "oracles" of truth and knowledge: Rush, Sean and Glenn; do not have enough college credit hours between them, combined - to assemble a 2 year associate degree!

Kind of funny that Romney has already accepted the Republican nomination before he reached the required number of delegates and that the GOP named him the nominee and started helping his campaign before he reached 1144 delegates, therefore breaking their own rules.
Also funny that Tuesday is the very last day for states to vote in the Primary (with the exception of Utah) and Romney has still not OFFICIALLY won. Kind of makes you wonder about the fact that the press has been working so hard to convince everyone the primary is already over.

Frankly I don't give a rat's patootie whether Willard is a LDS or any other religion. I won't be voting for a bishop, pope or any other religious office but a secular one called President of the United States.
I won't criticize his religon. I know LDS people all of whom are very nice. I don't know enough about their faith to make any opinion of it. Most people who criticize another's religion know nothing about it only what they are told or imagine.

That is why I saw right away that Rick Perry didn't have a snowball's chance in hell to get nominated. Americans expect their Presidents to be somewhat religious and to attend church, mosque, synagogue, temple, whatever, regularly, and then just shut up about it. A bible thumper is scary.
You are absolutely correct. We will be voting for a leader that will lead us out of our economic mess, promote prosperity for all Americans, enforce our laws and protect our nation. We need to stay focused on the big issues.
