Ron who?

OH!

You're talking about the 2012 version of Ross Perot...

Not sure which one of these two old coots is crazier!

Off topic - is anyone else having major issues with the FR gremlins today?

I'm seeing a pattern with problems around here when they run these side ads...

Good Morning Feisty.

There seems to be an increasing amount of problems lately with posting comments and attaching links. But thankfully we still have a forum here w/First Read in spite of the occasional gremlins.

Paul is just another candidate that failed to win the nomination.

I mean really Mark and Dominico, it's not like the Paul did as well as the convicted felon, unknown attorney, or 'anyone but' candidates that got very high percentages against Obama, the incumbent in the recent democratic primaries.

And yet somehow I suspect you will not be running a story about them. Will the convicted felon and Wolfe get delegates at the democratic convention?

Sadly I just do not see the brass at MSNBC letting you even discuss that subject - just too damn embarassing for team O.

I really hope Dr. Paul causes the max problems for the GOP. WHy? I am still a rabble rouser, and after a rotten morning with all the docs, I came home and found the cats threw up hairballs on my side of the bed. So, no nap for me, just laundry. Feel like raising some trouble today.

phinephancy - raise some he11 - it's Friday! Here's wishing a great Memorial Day weekend to all.

I really wish everyone would quit pointing to West Virginia, Arkansas and Kentucky as examples of poor performances by President Obama. At this point both he and Romney are the candidates, and in two of these "Red" states significantly more people came out and voted for President Obama than they did for Romney.

Few outlets reported the vote totals, not just the percentages. President Obama received around 20,000 more votes in WV; over 1,000 more votes in Kentucky; and almost as many votes as Romney in Arkansas.

I know MSN and the rest of the media want to hype a close race, but where is the analysis on voter apathy for Romney, or how Obama received more votes in traditionally "Red" states, or how voter turnout will impact the elections in these states?

No, let's hype the "felon" angle, or "Obama didn't get 40% of the vote" angle - I think that is lazy and sensationalist reporting.

I was thinking yesterday how much Romney reminds me of the convicted felon, who runs for office over and over and never wins.

The really big problem with polls are the ones that don't include cell phones. Or are based on likely voters, or the ones with very small sample size, or the ones that ask if the country is on the right/wrong track without specification of why, or... Heck, most of these polls are not reliable and we all know it.

Ron Paul, Ross Perot, at least the liberal spoilers like Ralph Nader do not border on being mental. Ross Perot, that was a close call, heck Sarah Palin! This only shows how crazy and chaotic the Republican Party has become.

If you Liberals get 4 more years of Barry "Weed Interceptor" Obama, you had better kiss the feet of the Ron Paul Revolution. We are still voting for Ron Paul. If that tips the scales in the favor of Obama then so be it.

The convention hasn't been held and most of the DELEGATES have not been elected yet. Dr. Ron Paul can still win. I like to believe that there is hope. Mitt is just about the same as Barry. Fundamental change is needed with both our domestic and foreign policy. Ron Paul is the only one offering both... And it seems to be scaring the hell out of the GOP.

Here is the dirt on Obama that MSNBC is not reporting:

Ron Paul supporters, like Occupy, will have a clear choice between going backward with GOP/Bush-era voodoo economics and Teavangelical Sharia Law, or going FORWARD with the president and just as importantly a congress that will work together and work with the White House.

A word to Occupy -- Take a look at Egypt. The Arab Spring revolutionaries split their votes among various candidates. As a result, they are now stuck with two extremes of the Islamic Brotherhood and the old Mubarak regime.

If you hope to have a real impact, you need to get behind candidates. Since you have not supported an Occupy candidate of your own, then align with the Dems and get out the vote to make it happen. To Ron Paul supporters, the Dems are the lesser of two evils -- First Do No Harm. We as a nation cannot afford to lose another four years to Privatizing Profit and Socializing Debt let alone the Lost Decade we are trying to recover from now.

Obama/Biden/Pelosi/Reid - 2012!

Ron Pauls only role at this point forward is to become a distraction that will help the democrats.

There will continue to be many people unhappy with the GOP selection of Mitt as their candidate, so they will cast their vote for Paul if he runs as an independant or libertarian.

Hmmm, sounds like a sore loser to me. I noticced not oneof his cult came out to vote in my precint. I saw a lot of young people come into the polling place; but he got not a one vote. Of course my area is mostly democratic.

Hi Beverly. I'm not completely surprised that Paul wouldn't attract much attention from young voters. But I am surprised that he didn't receive any votes in your district. You'd think there would be at least one half-wit siding with his thoughts.

    Wait, there's more.

Ron Paul Disavows White Supremacists, But Takes Their Money

Paul, under fire for the racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic passages in the newsletter he used to produce, disavowed the content of the publication in December.

He further told The New York Times that he "wouldn't be happy with" with racists and anti-Semites doing his volunteer work, even as many were. He explained the apparent contradiction to the newspaper, saying, "If they want to endorse me, they're endorsing what I do or say -- it has nothing to do with endorsing what they say."

The Paul campaign declined to comment on why he is accepting donations from people the candidate says he disagrees with. The contributions represent an ongoing Paul tie to right-wing extremism -- one that could be severed simply by sending back the checks.

Romney sent the same lawyer who argued Bush vs Gore in Florida to Maine to try and tell them they couldn't do that. (Romney officially won the caucus here, but with lots of balloting problems.) My brother will write in Ron Paul. He can't stand Romney.

You all crack me up. There are a lot of Ron Paul supporters that voted for Obama because they believed his lies about stopping the Iraq war "by 2009"...they believed he was really "the peace candidate" they feel betrayed that the president merely took the troops out of Iraq and shuffled them to Afghanistan then joined in attacking Libya while at the same time we couldn't find the money to keep our own government running. They believed that he would protect their constitutional rights as he promised in his campaign then signed it twice and then did way worse by signing the NDAA and HR347.

Anyhow, to say Ron Paul supporters will only help Obama is simply not true.

Kind of the way John Anderson took votes away from Reagan, right? How'd that work out?

Of course, one does need to factor in the fact that Paul has stated, categorically, emphatically, and more than once, that he will not run as either an independent or the Libertarian Party candidate, but nothing interferes with the delusional thinking of the left.

Anybody see the Gallup daily tracking? The candidates keep changing top spot by a point or two. Today, Obama is ahead by one- that's a tied race, if you're keeping score. It also helps to remember that Gallup wildly over samples cell only individuals- they represent about a quarter of the population, but Gallup routinely samples for 40%.

Kind of puts this in context

    http://select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F50E1EFD395F12728DDDA90A94DD405B8084F1D3

It was like that until the fall, when Gallup nd every other polling organization declared the race too close to call.

Reagan won by ten points in the popular vote- and an electoral college landslide.

It's funny- Obama is even worse than Carter. I wonder just how badly he will lose?

The message that is being missed by the Obama Administration and the liberal media is that there are alot of Ron Paul supporters as well as Tea Party supporters who have had enough of the governments liberal spending policies. The election of 2010 proves the effectiveness of them to change the course of politics in this country. Since 2010 politicians at the local, state and federal level have had to think twice and think twice again before passing any more liberal spending bills.

It's unfortunate that Obama isnt able to recognize that "This is what elctions are for" as he so eloquently put it to the Republicans during the Obamacare fiasco. Let's vote for a better leader in 2012!

    UAW-

So you still pretend that the Tea Party was formed to protest liberal government spending policies? Seriously? They organized right after Obama was elected, and before his policies even had a chance to be discussed or implemented.

So this "grassroots" organization sprang up to combat excessive spending after lying dormant for eight years under President Bush? AND they support Romney, whose plans include more spending and increase the deficit significantly MORE than Obama's plan?

You know as well as I do that the Tea Party was started by those pissed off that Obama won the election, and they were financed by those whose candidates lost to Obama. The Tea Party is purely an anti-Obama movement, and they target anyone who dares try and compromise with him.

What would cause someone to think Obama is gay? He is married and has a lovely wife and two lovely daughters. Just because he supports others rights doesn't mean he has to be one of them. I know the world is only black and white to the extreme right so I wouldn't expect them to understand the nuances of life or diversity.

If there was any gay President it was James Buchanan. Rumors were circulating during his time that he might be gay but things like that were usually closeted especially in the hightest positions in the country. There is no concrete evidence proving Buchanan was gay but circumstantial evidence would make one think he might be.

Want to see what so-called conservatives and the RNC REALLY believe under the pretense they're "defending traditional, conservative American values"?

Here is what they TRULY believe and defend:

            1) Abolition of property in land and the application of all rents of land to public purposes. (zoning and property taxes, etc.)

            2) A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

            3) Abolition of all rights of inheritance. (state and federal estate taxes, etc.)

            4) CONFISCATION OF THE PROPERTY OF ALL EMIGRANTS AND REBELS. (The seizures through traffic law violations, drugs, etc.)

            5) Centralization of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly. (Federal Reserve and banking system!)

            6) Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the hands of the State. (FCC, Dept. of Trans. FAA, Interstate Commerce Commission)

            7) Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan. (Dept. of Ag, TVA, Agriculture Adjustment Act, etc.)

            8) Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies especially for agriculture. (Labor Unions, Dept. of Labor, Civil Works Admin. National Labor Relations Act, etc.)

            9) Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of population over the country(Food processing companies, with the co-operation of the Farmers Home Administration foreclosures, are buying up farms and creating "conglomerates.")

            10) Free education for all children in public schools. (obvious and less "education" than "indoctrination", "Dumbing Down America," students taught DC is the "final authority" not the teaching, belief or desire of the parents.)

Those, of course, are NOT the first Ten Amendments to the Consistution known commonly as the Bill of Rights. They are the Ten Planks of Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto and, for attacking THEM and defending the Constitution, Ron Paul and his supporters are called "un American," "kooky," "crazy," etc. by the so-called "conservative" Romney/Santorum/Grinch/RNC supporters!

They're COMMUNISTS who DON'T believe YOU should have ANY freedom whatsoever and want to control everything from whether or not you are "allowed" to work to take care of yourself and family to what kind of toilet you MUST use! (low-flow, of course!) and are HYPOCRITES to their ROTTEN CORE!

Bush promised his tax cuts would create more jobs than Clinton (23 million) and balance the budget. 8 years later not a single private sector job (negative 700,000 to be exact) was created and $5 trillion was added to the national debt.

Why would any American vote for Romney to do that again?

And when are republicans going to stop trying to blame Obama for the mess Bush created?

What, they blame Bush for is the unspeakable! Leaving the door open for Obama. They hate that sh##. See it is race policy rules this go round and Willard doesn't have any. The voter is tired of the shoot from the hip syndrome.

Take note folks, Ron Paul has not suspended his bid for the presidency for a reason. He is either working toward a brokered convention, or a run as an independent.

For those who make fun of Paul, think about this, he is the only candidate who can force the democrats and republicans in Congress to work together for the common cause if he becomes president.....Isn't that how it was designed to work in the first place ?
