As the Obama campaign continues its assault on Mitt Romney's record as the CEO of investment firm Bain Capital, Vice President Joe Biden said Tuesday that the business experience like the presumptive GOP nominee's is no more qualifying than that of a Roto-Rooter.
"Your job as president is to promote the common good," he said, comparing the job of a president to that of a private equity mogul. "That doesn't mean that private equity guys are bad guys; they're not. But that no more qualifies you to be president than being a plumber!"
Biden, who spoke to a crowd of over 450 supporters and students at Keene State College, called the private-equity business itself "legitimate," but pushed the administration's argument that its imperative of wealth creation for investors doesn't translate to the skill set of a national leader.
"Folks, making money for your investors, as Romney did very well, is not the president's job," he said. "The president has a different job."
The visit to Keene State College was Biden's fourth trip this year to the Granite State, where Romney overwhelmingly won the GOP primary earlier this year.
The vice president, who made a similar case last week in swing state Ohio, painted Romney on Tuesday as an economic throwback to the Bush administration and as the cultural equivalent of the clean cut dad from a black-and-white TV sitcom.
"We will not go back to the 50s on social policies, to the Cold War on foreign policy, and the policies of the last administration on our economic policies," he said, raising his voice above applause. "We will not do it their way again. We intend to move forward."
With a nod to the equine Triple Crown competitor recently in the news, Biden said Romney's affinity for policies of the past has the same ring to it as the colt's name.
"He begins to sound a little like the horse that just won the Derby and the Preakness. "I'll Have Another." Except the horse was a real winner!" Biden exclaimed.
While the Scranton-born pol took heat from Republicans last week for calling himself "Middle Class Joe" despite a $2m Wilmington home, Biden made a point today to note his humble roots and his subsequent success as a public servant.
"I don't live like I did when I was growing up," he said. "I have a beautiful home. You pay me a lot of money. But I remember."

Bilof, lets see the jobs Romney did. Bain is a company that comes into a weak company, saddles it with excessive debt and then bankrupts it and runs with any money left over. Ask anyone who was the recepient of the shaft because of Bain.
So my choice is between someone born into money in America with a history of accomplishments and an incompetent racist who trashed our economy forever in less than four years, while assisting Islamists in taking over a number of Governments in the Middle East???
I have no love or loyalty for any politicians or party. I want performance and accountability. Bush no doubt created a mess. I voted for Obama and took a chance that he could get the country to work together. Starting with healthcare and how that all went down really showed that he is not a leader. He really divided the country on that one. He is lost in this job. His BS is as deep as anybody's. Bottom line is he can't get us on track. Whether Romney can or not. We will just have to see. We Independents will decide this one while all of you foolish party loyalists post your entertaining comments. This isn't working so we must try something new. And if Romney can't do any better. Ever hear Mandatory vehicle liabilty insurance? Did you get a break on your "Uninsured Motorist" portion of your insurance bill? I didn't they still gouge me for that. If every one has insurance why am I still paying for this? This is just one example of how companies write laws sponsored by Republican Law makers that make it leagal to steal my money.

A law that not everybody will abide by. So unfortunately there will always be uninsured drivers out there. If they cause an accident and are liable they will face the penalties and sentence for not abiding by it. But in the end there was loss and damage done that has to be paid for. Your uninsured motorist insurance covers it while the insurance company spends the money to sue the uninsured person.

The issue that people should be concerned with is Politicians that are now using their Catholic faith as a basis for their political decisions.

The Republican budget that Ryan pushed through the House of Representatives last month proposes big cuts to federal food aid and Medicaid healthcare for the poor, as well as to education grants, in order to shrink deficits while preserving low tax rates for the wealthy and for corporations.
These facts conclude that those republicans that are now in power are using church doctrines against the people of middle and lower classes and against the people that represent controversial minorities.

And as far as Bain Capital; about 80 pecent of the businesses they invested in or bought did very well for Bain and the employees of the businesses. There will be failed businesses as in any risk undertaking. Your bank, 401k administrator, retirement fund administrator all invest your money somewhere in other companies or sectors and not every investment works well. Bain gave a one store operation some investment money and they grew to over 2000 locations worldwide with excess of 90,000 employees; it's called Staples. People that hate all equity investment should check the Bain website and see the list of huge companies that Bain invested in, helping these business expand and grow and create jobs. I'm sure you'll recognize the names and realize you invest in these companies by using their products and by proxie make more money for Bain. Yes some companies went bankrupt and some people lost their jobs and that is tragic. But that is all you people bitch about never the numerous success stories. Blackstone does the same thing and even worked with Bain in some investments and Blackstone has had failures in their history but not a word about them and of course they donated a large amount to Pres.
