But dozens of the candidate’s friends, fellow church members and relatives describe a man whose faith is his design for living. The church is by no means his only influence, and its impact cannot be fully untangled from that of his family, which is also steeped in Mormonism. But being a Latter-day Saint is ‘at the center of who he really is, if you scrape everything else off,’ said Randy Sorensen, who worshiped with Mr. Romney in church.”
“To win, Romney must convince voters — especially those in the roughly dozen swing-voting states where the race is likely to be decided — that the situation is so bad that that they should give him a chance to do what Obama hasn't been able to do: get the economy really going. .... The AP writes of Romney’s leadership test during the big dig: “Romney's stiffest leadership test as governor produced mixed results. He was praised, even by some Democrats, for his energetic, take-charge management style. But he also drew criticism for playing to the media and dodging personal blame.”

Political Wire: “Paul won 12 of 13 open delegate spots to the GOP national convention. The 13th went to Michele Bachmann – ‘and only after a Paul supporter dropped out to let her have that spot.’”
Though the Romney campaign as of Friday had not yet expanded its Spanish-language ad buy (just $3,000 in Raleigh), Romney strategist Russ Schriefer promised in a conference call, per Matt Lewis: “There’s going to be some serious points put behind the Spanish version of the ad.”
And Lewis adds: “During the Friday morning conference call, Schriefer contrasted Romney’s new ad with previous Obama ads, which seemed to lack direction. ‘I think [the Obama campaign is] struggling to figure out what this race is about for them,’ he said.”

Faith is a kind word for superstitious. Pseudo-science, metaphysics, religion, it's all right in there with conspiracy theory. To believe in the Bible literally, for example the age of the Earth, is just--well the Flat Earth Society. To believe in an angel, golden plates, polygamy, baptism of the dead, modern revelation, their own scriptures, etc. -- that's a leap of "faith" too far. Just because I protect their right to believe as they choose doesn't mean I agree with it.

I'm a Catholic and I have no issues with Romney's religions or for that matter with President Obama's.
However, when it comes to who the best leader is, I would go for Romney at this point.
There was a time when Catholics were vilified.... Kennedy overcame that and became the first Catholic President.
I live in Nevada and have many Mormon friends. Harry Reid, probably more liberal than Obama, is a Mormon. Religion should have nothing to do with this Campaign, it's the economy, jobs, and deficit...Obama has failed all 3!!
My vote will go with Romney because he has many more positive characteristics than Obama... Obama is running on Smoke and Mirrors... again and I hate sequels especially if they can't improve the second time around!
I support President Obama, not because he's a Christian but because I am a Christian, and Obama's policies are more in tune with my religious values.
Amy, please... Romney is a strong Christian and there is NO Rev. Jeremiah Wright's in his background. Obama still has many people wondering if he's really a Muslim, pretending to be a Christian.... his background is Islamic and by his own admission studied the Koran as a child. I'm pretty sure Romney's religious background isn't as murky and Obama's is...!
Your support should be for who is the most effective candidate and that person is Romney by a wide margin!

I said, I'm voting according to my Protestant values, not the candidates professed religions. I believe "blessed are the peacemakers" and Obama's foreign policies are more in line with that value than Romney's saber rattling. I believe "it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to get into heaven" and Romney seems to put wealthy people at the top, at the expense of those Americans who actually keep this country going. It bothers me that Romney brags about paying a lower tax rate than those who earn a pay check. I come from Puritan stock, and you know we value work for it's own sake. President Obama's policies just seem more in line with my religious values, and that is why I support him.
I can't vote for a person that believes that the "Mormon Jesus is not the traditional Jesus".

I don't give a crap what Romney's religion is as long as he is not forcing 16-yr-old girls to marry him as just another wife. But I do give a crap about the fact that Romney pushes himself as morally superior while he lies about everything all the time.

Please do not confuse the practices of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with those of obscure sects which still practice polygamy and call themselves mormons. They are not the same, and you sound misinformed when doing so.

Take a deep breath. You are comparing a single event that took place well over a century ago to comments that Rev. Wright made throughout his "ministry" which Obama absorbed for the past 20 years of his life. If that makes sense to you, fine. But, you have proven that you have zero credibility when discussing anything to do with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

My sister married a great guy who belonged to the LDS Church. Any misgivings our side of the family may have had were quickly washed away! They had 6 children who have all married and have wonderful families of their own!
I can remember, not so long ago, when Catholics were so ostracised as Mormons seem to be now... perhaps this is a result of Obama's desperation to somehow use Romney's religion as a weapon to attack him with. The Republicans willingly backed off the Rev. Wright thing, the Democrats should back off Romney's religion as well......!

Having served a similar mission in Hungary from May of 2001 - May of 2003, I can tell you from first-hand experience that it is not the vacation that you are envisioning.
