Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney says he "repudiates" a PAC plan to attack President Obama's link to Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Mitt Romney convened a rare press conference Thursday to explicitly distance himself from a controversial, racially-charged ad campaign reportedly planned by a Republican super PAC.
His campaign subsumed by a political firestorm first sparked by a New York Times report on a proposed campaign attacking President Obama for his ties to the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Romney appeared on camera to disavow the strategy.
"I want to make it very clear that I repudiate that effort. I think it's the wrong course for a PAC or a campaign," Romney told reporters after his rainy event here today. "I hope that our campaigns can respectively be about the future and about issues and about a vision for America."
First Read: Race front and center in 2012 campaign
The press conference -- a rarity for those following the Romney campaign -- reflected the urgency with which Romney and his advisers felt compelled to distance the candidate from the controversial proposal. Romney had initially passed on commenting this morning, saying he hadn't seen the story, before taping a radio interview this morning condemning the proposal.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, speaks May 17 at the River City Brewing Company in Jacksonville, Fla.
The plan, which was presented by Strategic Perception and GOP ad man Fred Davis to Joe Ricketts, the owner of the Chicago Cubs, earned heavy backlash from the Obama campaign and many Republicans on Thursday. By mid-afternoon, Ricketts had disavowed the plan, and Strategic Perception had taken sole responsibility for the proposal, on which they said no action was taken.
Ricketts: I'm not going to use Jeremiah Wright
Vice President Joe Biden, campaigning this afternoon in Pennsylvania, condemned the proposed ad campaign, saying its proponents "act like it's 1942."
"I think these guys like that so misunderstand the state of the nation," he told reporters at an unscheduled stop at a Washington, PA BBQ restaurant. "They act like it's 1942. I mean, I think the public is so far beyond that."
Biden said that he'd heard reports that the proposed ad had been rejected by Ricketts.
"I mean look there are certain things that are sorta so morally clear and straight and straight-lined about it," he said. "You almost don't even wanna comment."
Republicans anxiously discourage racially-charged super PAC strategy
But for as much as Romney's press conference served ostensibly defensive purposes, the presumptive Republican nominee used the moment to go on the attack, as well.
Romney said he was "disappointed" in what he claimed was the president's campaign of "character assassination," complaining that ads recently released by the Obama campaign attacking Romney's work at the helm of Bain Capital were inaccurate and unfair.
Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty talks about a GOP Super PAC's idea to bring back into the spotlight President Barack Obama's link to Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
"There's this fiction that some have that somehow you can be successful by stripping assets at an enterprise and walking away with lots of money and killing the enterprise. There may be some people that know how to do that. I sure don't," Romney said. "Our approach was always to try and make the enterprise more successful. And the purpose of the president's ads are not to describe success and failure but to somehow suggest that I'm not a good person or not a good guy."
But the controversy of the day largely overshadowed Romney's bread-and-butter campaign speech about the economy. And for the political class, the Wright controversy also sidelined a more favorable story about the Romney campaign's fundraising success last month.
In Jacksonville, Romney argued the election ought to turn on who has the best plan for "jobs and kids," a catchphrase he was first heard using at a fundraiser last month in Palm Beach, where he will return later this evening for another fundraiser.
The Sunshine State has been good to Romney's campaign financially. Pool reports from his fundraisers show he raised more than $2 million apiece at stops yesterday near Tampa Bay and Miami. Romney declined to say whether Florida was a "must win" for his campaign, but closed his press conference by saying it was a state he was "counting on to be successful in."

In between slamming the President!
Since when is exposing a past employer character assassination?
It was nice to see Willard take some reporters questions for a change - all three of them! lol
One of which he couldn't answer...
Good Grief!
I for one, can't wait for the debates!
A open letter to Romney, IF YOU WANT TO BE PRESIDENT, take the gloves off, it is going to be a in the dirt campaign , do not become another Mr. nice guy, like McCain, remember he lost.
“I think it's the wrong course for a PAC or a campaign”
That sounds like he is coordinating with a Super PAC, which is illegal.
McCain lost because he gave the okay for Palin to have the VP slot--the place that's one heart-beat from the president. I for one did not want her representing or leading our county, or even having the hint of a possibility of her doing so.
YEAH, ME TOO FEISTY!
bushes fault bushes fault bushes fault bushes fault wahhhhhhhhh bushes fault, bushes fault, bushes fault bushes fault/ LOL ROMNEY UP BY TEN ALREADY!!!!
AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH
SAXON: if Mr. McCain is your idea of a "nice" guy...Your advice is...um...suspect. I think he's at least competitive at the moment because as improbable a President as he is, as odd a human being, as distant and remote, and laughably out of touch...he doesn't as yet have the reputation as being a complete dirt bag. Remains to be seen if he will be tarnished by those who don't worry about such things.
Rightisright: yeah, sure. If my party had claim to a president as bad as Bush, I'd be urging everyone to forget about his 8 years too....
The Joke is on all of us - Republican and Democrat alike. We allow these people the freedom to write their own ticket for Salary, Healthcare, Retirement and Campaign Finance laws.
A Super Pac has been used by both sides to sling the dirt for the party and a Candidate can stand up and sing - I do not agree with that! I did not authorize that! But by then it has already been said and the uneducated voters will believe it, try to compile it all in their stupid little heads in the voting booth and kid themselves that they are making an informed pull of the lever (sic).
Until we ALL get enough and band together to stop these Greedy @!$%#s we will keep getting what we have been getting.
And folks, I am not talking about the Presidency. They are irrelevant. We need to look our Senators and Representatives in the eye and demand they change things. We need to do more than post and blog about it - WE MUST START A GRASSROOTS REVOLT. Not like the T-Party, we need to be responsible for all out Citizens - we are all in this together.
"What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world," (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, compiled by Joseph Fielding Smith, p. 270)
yeah ap. bush was soooooo bad with the 4 percent unemployment AND record revenue to the federal govt. and so much work i had to turn alot down. Terrible man! LOL!
I wonder if this whole incident was staged just to give Romney the opportunity to stand against the idea and show some leadership. Over the last couple of weeks there have been negative stories about how people at Romney events said nasty and untrue things about President Obama, and how he just ignored them. Now it gets leaked that a Romney super PAC was considering something vaguely distateful, that the McCain campaign had once decided wasn't useful anyway, and Romney comes out looking like the better man for denouncing the ads. Whoever came up with this idea should get an ambassador posting somewhere, at the least, if Romney wins the election.
This is just ANOTHER Romney lie. This is just how the GOP wants it, playing both sides of the fence while the GOP "Willard" claims to be offended... Uh huh, 'shore...
Romney and the GOP should spend 100% of their time and ad dollars running on their ideas for the economy and Obama's abysmal economic record. Reverend Wrong, Gay Marriage, bullying in high school are all tactics by dems trying to distract from Obama.
This will be a brutal campaign. Obama's hatchet crowd has been after Romney for months.
Romney must offer solid ideas and focus on his success. Don't apologize for being wealthy. Encourage all Americans to achieve success.
Don't get sucked up by silly distractions.
Romney needs an extremely disciplined chief of staff to keep the campaign moving forward.
The good news is the guy is still getting in national campaign mode and he is already tied with Obama.
Once people start looking at the disaster of the last 4 years and the complete lack of solutions ( blame Bush!) that this crowd has, the more votes Romney will get.
Pick a solid competent VP. Bonus if a woman or a minority, but make sure the VP adds and does not detract from the effort.
Can't wait to see the posters on November 7!
Mr. Obama, our president....do as I say, not as I do....
None of this is needed. Focus on the Obama presidency and all the problems of the past 3 plus years.
Plenty there to work with. We've all been living the misery.
Fiesty says, "Since when is exposing a past employer character assassination?" Or how about your rascist minister or terrorist cocktail party companion, or the lefts version of Rush....Bill Maher. End the PAC money and get on to real issues not the fake ones reported here on the official communication mouthpiece of the democratic party....MSNBC and their paid blogger Fiesty. You guys are just too funny.
or the pansy Dukakis.
Wink, wink.
Actually, wrong is wrong.
From the beginning of the Bush recession in December, 2007, through December, 2008 -- BEFORE President Obama took office -- unemployment rose from 4.9 percent to 7.2 percent, and 3.6 million people lost their jobs.
Read 'em and weep, cowboy.
http://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2009/jan/wk2/art02.htm
Unemployment caused by Bush's recession continued to rise through the first three quarters of 2009, ultimately reaching 10 percent, and then began to decline, as the economic stimulus kicked in.
http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000
Whatever work you were doing, you were lucky. A lot of other people were not so lucky.
And, if only measured by these numbers, not to mention 4,500 soldiers killed in Iraq for no reason whatsoever, tens of thousands of injured, and a trillion dollars wasted, Bush WAS a terrible President.
AP_141...: I do have to agree with you about McCain, he was out of touch with the pulse of America (his choice of Palin showed that), however he did not attack Obama with a mess of information that he had, which may have made a difference in the election; there is a lot in Obama background that can cause serious problems for him with the Middle of the road voters., and that is where the election will be won or lost by both .
Prove it. Don't just
give this lip servicelie. Prove it!Holy friggin' cow, take note of the "raising debt" part, which doesn't even mention getting government loans as a part of that debt before bankrupting the company. Romney is nothing but a "Corporations are People" on Corporate Welfare for my personal gain candidate. He's not fooling anyone, even Republicans like Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich.
Romney is the poster child for all that we should despise about current trends and mentality in Big Business that has been destroying our nation for the last 30-40 years, along with tax breaks and shelters offshore of the money they do NOT put to good use in the US economy.
When Romney says "inaccurate" that means someone said it was "Tuesday" when in fact it was "Wednesday".
As far as being "unfair", well why don't we re-play what Rick Santorum said about Romney's attack ads against Santorum; or ask Newt Gingrich if he thinks Romney was "inaccurate and unfair", and as far as Bain goes, I've already seen ads on TV with former workers telling their story on how Romney took over their company, withdrew all the money, took out huge loans that were never repaid, siezed their pension and retirement funds, then laid everybody off and shipped those jobs overseas.
Those workers who were left pennyless and jobless also thought that Romney was totally "unfair" too, but Romney doesn't give a hoot about American Workers, so long as Romney and his carpetbaggers make a bundle.
Obama / Biden 2012
IF Romoney is elected Prez (fat chance!) this would be sighted as the first hint of his *flip* to become a Democrat while in office after he *flops* at being told what to do as a RepubliCon Puppet!
@ True Pat --
All you need is GS Technologies, where Bain walked away with $50 million and left $44 million in unfunded pension liabilities, which the federal government had to make good.
Where did Bain get the right to take $50 million out while the pension fund was allowed to shrivel?
Answer: Bain didn't have a right. At least not a moral right. They stole $50 million straight from the pockets of the employees who had earned their pension benefits and left the company bankrupt.
This is not a joke. Someone needs to make him answer that question publicly.
Why avoid talking about Rev Wright, Mr Romney?
If you listen to the audios of the loud mouthed racist sonovabitch, you naturally wonder why Obama willingly sat in his church sucking up the hateful vitriol for 20 years....."goddam the USA"," America's chickens"....and all the rest of his un-reverend-like crap. If Romney thinks that by playing nice he'll inspire the Dems to do likewise, he's just plain naive...and downright stupid. David Asswholerod and the rest of Obama's handlers have already made it clear that they're going to sling the crap at every opportunity in hopes of deflecting attention from Obama's miserable failure in office. Sometimes, you just have to fight fire with fire!
Yep...I would not go there on the religion front Mr. Romney. If you do, you will open the doors for your beliefs to be blasted to holy hell by the party of tolerance and diversity.
It would be, if that was what he really thought. What he really thinks is that he'll be happy to sit back, play innocent, and let others do his dirty work for him.
He learned it directly from Newt's superPAC. And he learned it well.
Sure, if you have any. At other times, like this one, you just have to play dirty.
And, if Iowa was any indication, Mitt knows dirty VERY well.
TO: spider-737231 who wrote:
Because then Romney would have to admit that Rev. Wright and President Obama are both Christians, and it would open the door to reminding Republican Followers that Romney is Mormon, which Republicans just can't stand.
Plus, we heard this all before in 2007 from Republicans.
When is Romney going to start campaigning on the "Ryan Plan" is what I'd like to know, or don't Republicans want to talk about what that "Plan" is really about?
Obama/Biden 2012
Gary 420 -- Riiight, the Dems are holding a gun to Teapublican's heads forcing them to pass hundreds of abortion bills.
Hahaha -- The party of tolerance and diversity is the Republican Party, right?
I think the only blasting to holy hell are the elephants - ever heard the phrase Obama is a Muslim? Or perhaps Limpballs calling the President Imam Obama. Ever heard the term hypocrite? That is what you would call a right wing christian nut job launching attacks on Obama and his religiosity (someday's it is Muslim, other days it is radical Christian), and subsequently attacking the left for asking Romney to pass the same litmus test.
It doesn't sound anything like that.
Anyone got a can of raid - there is a nasty spider invasion, of the venomous kind.
American Fable
I completely agree with you. Divide and conquer is their goal - they play it well and it's been their tactic all along. I have never been a "my jersey, my team" do or die person - but I see, in these posts, how much that has become a part of our American culture. It's sad that we believe these politicians are there for our benefit, when in fact the only reason they are there is for the power, control and the money. There isn't a nickels worth of difference between a dem or repub - except the bs they lay on us to get where they want to be - and we fall for it......very sad. However, these posts only tell me that we have lost to them. Term limits based on performance is a good start but since they control what they vote on or allow to be proposed we will probably lose that battle, too.
True,
As 70% of the companies Bain invested in are still around then logically they were not raiding the companies. Equity firms invest in a business by taking the outstanding stock, they try to make the company profitable so the shares rise and at that point they either take dividends or sell their stock.
What do you think the government did with Chrysler, GM, and AIG, they gave them money in return for the stock and then they have been selling the stock to recoup the money? So by your definition the President is a corporate raider. Look at GM they did not pay back the bondholders, made them close dealerships, fires the CEO, all to get the stock price up.
Wrong course? Well, give Romne some credit, then, although Romney still has no chance in November.
If they open up the Rev Wright can of worms then I hope Obama takes the gloves off and goes after the wacky Mormon religion. Romney was the king of attack ads when he was running against Newt and Rickey. I hope he can take it. I can't wait for the debates.
Anna Molly -- The anger out there is something the Dems and president could do a better job capitalizing on, starting by throwing some Investment Bankers/Hedge Fund Managers in jail. Jamie Dimon is a good example in which a CEO of JP Morgan sits on the Fed board, as if there's no conflict of interest there. And on and on to tax evasion to raiding pension plans -- All of which Romney does legally, but that is NOT the same as ethical or moral.
We as a society really need to look at our standards, and the debate about vulture capitalism versus venture capitalism, and how twisted the market has become. Even Adam Smith wrote that capitalism only works when there are ethics and charity. We as a nation need to find our way back before we implode.
wtfjes66 -- Please spare us the fallacious argumentation. The Dems are not pure as the driven snow, but there is definitely a lesser of two evils. Make your case instead of using this GOPee Wee Herman "I know you are, but what am I" crock of crap.
Name the companies. You throw out a stat like 70% and we're all supposed to believe it? That's what I challenge Romney's campaign to prove, as well as prove with documentation that he created 100,000 jobs. I'm not a Mormon who will make such a leap in faith.
@American Girl:
There is nothing Christian about how Wright or Obama have conducted themselves. I'm a Republican/Conservative and I have no problem with Romeny being Mormon. I'll take that over a Socialist President who aligns himself with terrorists and America haters any day!
Romney/whoever 2012!!!!
Hopeful American -- Where was your outrage with all the Republican scandals -- Heck why is David Vitter still in office? Puleeze.
I'll take socialism over a theocracy and Sharia Law (or fascism, or oligarchy, or plutocracy...). But get real, Romney is a socialist -- Just not for YOU. He is for Corporate Welfare of privatizing profits and socializing debt.
well willard, what are you suggesting would be the right course? should we all bow down to the mormon god running planet earth from up there in the Kolob System? Should we all swear loyalty and obedience to the mormon prophets Warren Jeffs and Tom Monson???
Romney is used to digging up dirt, "that's what worms do". Now he's Flip Flopping dirt for votes ! I hope Romney chokes on his dirt !
I'm willing to give Romney the benefit of the doubt on this and believe that he is sincere in what he says.
There is no doubt however that super pacs- for either political party- are corrupting the political process. And there's overwhelming proof that it's primarily the Republicans- be they pundits or legislators or Republican-appointed Supreme Court justices- who support their continued existence and the unbridled power that they wield.
And as for Republicans to call ads pointing out Governor Romney's factual record- both as a venture capitalist and as a public official- smear tactics when compared to the still on-going efforts to bring President Obama's citizenship into question or to claim that he's a Muslim is laughable. I give great credit to Senator McCain for refusing to stoop to those levels in his campaign. I only wish that more of the Republican party had had the courage to do so. And of those few that did show that kind of integrity- McCain nearly lost his primary runoff, Olympia Snowe retired, Dick Lugar lost his primary, Schwarzenegger went from Republicans trying to amend the Constitution to being called a RINO and a traitor...
The religious Taliban have joined forces with reactionaries, racists and bigots and taken over the Republican party.
And that's coming from someone who voted for Reagan for President twice.
"Do not associate my name with anything you do. You are extremists, and you've hurt the Republican party much more than the Democrats have."
Barry Goldwater addressing the reactionaries in the Republican party a few years before his death in 1998
screw all of this. Just look at the crowd in the picture behind Mitt. All white and mostly old. Who's kidding who. Looking for a black, latino, asian or any other is like "Where's Waldo." And minority babies just passed the number of white babies being born. This country is turning diverse whether you old fart teabags like it or not. And there's not a damn thing you can do about it. Hate won't fix it. So, if the Republican Party continues on it's current path, they will be totally extinct in 15 years. Can't wait.
I think that tactic isn't necessarily race based but social services based. I on the other hand realize by cutting social services you will be raising the prices on everything for us poor folks who do work.
There is no doubt our problems are a conundrum and they will not be fixed by a party of any kind. A government by the people for the people. People are the solution not the problem.
Whomever can motivate the people will win this election.
All of these socially provocative issues are not what we need. Our constitution is the foundation of equality the fight belongs in the Courts not a political movement. Party for Party is the problem.
If I must pick a side it is the American People.
You have hit squarely on one of the things that bother me most about President Obama -- how deeply he is personally entwined with Wall Street. Jamie Dimon is his very good personal friend, and he has already compromised his position by praising him openly, even in the face of the JP Morgan disaster. It is very hard to walk that back. Like this lame attempt:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tWMqgk6Jvc
Jamie Dimon is NOT for Wall Street reform.
When you lie down with dogs ... well, you already know the rest.
From the article, quoting Mitt Romney:
REPLY: Thank you, Mr. Romney.
I hope this is just the opening gesture toward both candidates, Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama, running positive, civilized and uplifting campaigns which are an illustration of the democratic ideals which America touts to the rest of the world as our example to follow.
If, on the other hand this presidential campaign (by both parties) is a repeat of the past five campaigns ... or if the level of vitriol, character assassination and mud-slinging is elevated, we should really stop all this nonsense about "American Exceptionalism." Nobody else in the world is buying it, because we look like a bunch of schoolyard boys having a pissing contest against a headwind.
its old news, i remember the statements by rev wright, and for some odd reason it was all swept under the rug... was when Nobama the clown lost my vote. a preachers views do not take as drastic a change overnight, and to pretend he goes to service each week, to cover his ears is believeable to only a 3 yr old child perhaps.
as far as J Mac... i also distinctly remember the finacial debate... and Nobama kept his promise on the infastructure, gov jobs, shovel ready jobs, and so on... it all went to union/union workers. not all but a very very good sized chunk. where did that get us, in out botttomed out economy? no place... more people out of work and uncounted by the dept of labor and statistics, and its getting worse....
stocks have been on a steady drop all week, and stocks may show a slight gain on friday, only to keep people interested. to be honest, i wouldnt buy a penny stock, because its all going to be worthless in a matter of a few months. we the people have a huge bill coming again, and no means to pay it off, maybe print, or borrow more $$$....lol.
just waiting for the meal ticket i have now to run dry.....
To quote an insight I saw on a blog comment...
http://bobcesca.com/blog-archives/2012/05/birtherism-is-back.html
Romney can say what he wants .. in public .. but that wont stop the ads .. Romney knows that the supr pacs have one mission destroy Obama no matter what the cost or who gets offended includeing Romney ... Norquist said what the republicans want is a republican prez that has a hand that can hold a pen and sign the legislation handed him .. an empty suit like Romney is perfect for the take over of the Goverment and handing America to the Corporations ..to do with as they please ..
Kind of like how Obama destroyed Hillary. Guess you lovers of Obama were good with his destroying tactics then, weren't you?!
Romney is going to slaughter Obama, and all he has to do is hold up Obama's own record - it sucks, he sucks and he's done come November 2nd!
Yeah, Obama sure "destroyed" Hillary by making her the most powerful Cabinet Head.
Yeah, Obama sure "destroyed" Hillary by making her the most powerful Cabinet Head.
Mittens knows full well that he cannot win in a mudslinging match. All it would take is an ad along the lines of --
"Warren Jeffs is a convicted child rapist and avowed polygymist. (close up of Jeffs dissolving into a pic of a wild eyed Mittens) He and Mitt Romney are both members of the same church--one that relies on a Book in which it still says that polygymy is God's will. Are those the kinds of family values you want to support"
Overbroad and generalizing, but not really factually untrue. You think people in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia etc are going to quibble about semantics?
Destroyed....oh that's right you guys voted against the women's anti-violence act extension yesterday. And exactly what 'tactics' destroyed Hillary? Seriously, you sound like a PUMA with a lingering hangover. By the way...get used to sound of this....Hilllary 2016
Obama/Biden 2012
Don't know about your voting sense, but as to mine, I would have demanded that candidate Romney would have actual solutions for unemployment ...you know, a plan to create jobs instead of wealth. What is Romney's plan for prosperity? Can you tell us, Hapless American?
Great trick! Seems Romney CAN have it both ways... drum up old racially charged associations, then disavow and distance from it. COST: Zero. Base rancor factor: 100%. Deniability: 100%.
This is a great process we have here.
I noticed that the FOX survey has Obama up by what... 7 points? Interesting.
RCP has the electoral college at Obama:243, Romney:170, Toss-up:125... also interesting.
The polls are right at the point that will draw the worst out of the super PACs. Watch for more old and dirty tricks aimed at any Democrat in sight.
At least Romney finally came out against something instead of just watching from the sidelines. Of course he couldn't resist a jab or two while he was there.
Hopeful American
Obama never ran and against Hillary that attacked her character... as dark music of dread played in the background... with subliminal flashing images or anything of the like. If you cannot see the stark difference in ad content coming from the GOP super PAC's, then you're either blind or in serious denial.
The only chance Romney has is to continue to try to hold the economy back with his pandering to the rich and big business investment communities. He's hoping they'll hold their growth plans until he gets in and gives them mountains of money. If they perceive they are missing opportunities by holding, they'll abandon him in a flash... He's also hoping for Europe to kick us in the ass again. I guess you could say he's running on a platform of "hope and no change".
Romney is not dumb. Religion is not a window he wants to open. His family's poligamist history and many odd Mormon beliefs may be exposed. The well documented on about Mormons believing that they can ultimately evolve into Gods may concern many. Oh and how about Joseph Smith's writings stating that all other forms of Christianity are not valid. Yeah, his desires to stay away from Wright are not moral but tactical.
Never in our history did we ever start one war, let alone two wars, without raising taxes to pay for them. Bush cut taxes not once but twice. Now we are paying the price for that, so yes our debt is Bush's fault. Romney seems to want to cut taxes even more and talks about war like its a walk in the park. If you think we are in bad shape now, if we do what he wants to do you can kiss our country goodbye.
Everyone screams about unfunded wars, but what do we do with all the military personnel who will need jobs in our new pacifistic mode? And what about all the jobs that will cease to exist because we no longer need military materials for ourselves and no longer wish to sell them on the world market, while other economies have absolutely no problems with selling arms, munitions etc.
I support this move by Romney, and I hope it will lead to a more productive election process where the candidates focus on issues such as the economy and debt, and not on social issues or character issues.
Typical republican lies,
Still Believing that Americans that so Stupid to See what's happening !
President Bush spend 2 wars -trillions to Debt
President Bush spend Tarp $700 billions to bailout Corporation -To Debt
President Bush spend $800 billions as Tax Cut for 1% to Debt
President Bush created Medicare part D : cost $500 billion to Debt
What President Obama did as President to be Big spender than Bush?
The budget projects a $1.3 trillion deficit cut this year, and $901 billion in 2013. But by 2018, the deficit is forecast to fall to $575 billion.
The President $787 billion economic stimulus package to Debt- What is Bigger than this $787 billion to Debt ? GOP you tell me !. If you had forgotten, its the "SENATE JOB" not the President that prepared all this expenditure.
To Qualify him a big spender? Some Project still yet coming to rolls in ,included, Bush Corporation bailout and GOP talking point -solydra all within this budget.
Infact he wanted to do the 4 trillion Cut-for decade Who Opposed it?
Military-Pentagon budget-cut
Nasa budget-Cut
Administration pay-cut.Sure, there are a bunch of new taxes on the rich, but more deficit
reduction is sourced from winding down overseas wars and bringing agency
budgets in line with the congressional mandates.
Add it all up, you get lower deficits.when coupled with less spending on overseas wars, the reductions would bring discretionary spending to its lowest level as a share of the economy since Dwight D. Eisenhower sat in the Oval Office.
This year, the administration details 210 places where programs will be
cut or eliminated, for savings of $24 billion in 2013 and $520 billion
over a decade.
Non-security discretionary spending subject to the caps laid out in
the Budget Control Act would be hard hit. Currently $450 billion, it
would fall to $410 billion in 2013 and $385 billion by 2015.
Funding for the government's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program,
which subsidized energy bills for 9 million households last year, is
also targeted for a $452 million reduction.
That's more than the Obama administration asked for in 2012, but less than Congress approved.
As for agencies, most will get a smaller increase than they might have
expected. A few, like the Environmental Protection Agency, NASA and the
Department of Agriculture, will see a real reduction in funding
.
Mandatory programs which don't need annual authorization from Congress to spend would also be cut. Those cuts would include select farm subsidies and federal employee
retirement and health benefits, for savings of $217 billion over a
decade.
The budget would cut more than $360 billion from Medicare, Medicaid and other health programs over a decade.Everyone need to play a part by introducing mandate insurance.
Who prefers SOCIALISM in AMERICA? -Teaparty
Who start Socialism 50 years ago !
Why yell now?
Amazing....in response to a story about Reverend Wright....Mr. Obama's close friend and spiritual advisor for twenty+ years...the good reverend's name gets mentioned about twice...with much more gibberish about John McCain, Rush Limberger, George Bush, and Paul Ryan.
I guess I need another coffee...I thought the story had been about Mr. Romney's statement about an outside ad that had brought back Rev. Wright into the mix...although it has been interesting reading up on four years ago...when the president dispassionately shoved his spiritual advisor under his campaign bus to try to suppress the news of their once close relationship.
Sue-3329001
Sue, Just carry your concern to the next level. Wars are inherently pure spending with absolutely no return on investment... we give away bullets, bombs, and missiles free of charge.
Slow down the wars, stop pure spending, and put the returning personnel to work on infrastructure projects USING THE SAME MONEY!
LMarc...
You do realize that thousands of union construction workers are already on the book at their union halls and will be the first people hired on any infrastructure projects that get started...but the idea of it is good...the military does great training in many of the trades that do that type of work.
I'd welcome some public debate over Romney's spiritual advisor, John Smith. What it may lack in racist rhetoric it will surely make up in pure lunatic entertainment. The book of Mormon is nothing but an attempt to "one up" the fantasy philosophy of the holy bible.
Thanks Mr. Romney, better to take the high road! I don't think the democrats will...they are desperate!
We're desperate? lmao
Robin hon - it wasn't the Democrats who revisited the race war today...
Kind of a shame it blew up in the GNOP's face - I was praying they would play the Rev. Wright card!
Believe me Feisty, It will resurface and Romney will deny having anything to do with it. That is the beauty of super pacs.
No need for old news, when your opponent hasnt accomplished anything in four years. Its amazing how much effort the media, is putting into digging dirt up on Romney.
Try telling that to the Wi Dems all they accomplished by recalling Walker was digging a six foot hole for themselves.. Werent you saying the WI recall election will show whats going to happen in Nov? Care to take that back?
So what about when your opponent hasn't accomplished anything in over eight?
high road! Democrats... you won't see that from obama this election year. And as far as carrot top goes only unwarranted, vicious attacks and boilermakers are on her agenda, lol!
"Romney calls proposed Wright ads the 'wrong course'"
Maybe so, but...
"I'm Karl Rove, and I approve of this message."
Im sure the American voters will not allow that to happen but we will have to wait until Nov to see..
Obama accomplished something, for the first time in US history he and the democratic Congress succeeded in getting our credit rating devalued... and they will ask to borrow even more money this summer. We are becoming Greece without the Parthenon! Lucky for us Barry and Sleepy Joe still want to keep taking care of us... how frightening is that!
GREECE wants to be like us now, and print its own money. they had a run on the bank today. thats what happens when people dont want to pay the piper.
Hey Feisty,
What is your religious/political ideology? Just curious. And please be specific. For example:
I myself am an atheist social liberal (pro-choice/pro gay marriage, etc.), fiscal / constitutional conservative with libertarian tendencies.
The reason why I'm asking is because everything associated with worldly and domestic issues comes down to a math problem (not necessarily in dollars), and I'm trying to narrow down where exactly you're coming from with your perspective on how the world works so I can help walk you through the appropriate equation.
Many of the expressions by Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson (Sr. & Jr.) are repugnant to me.
Your posts are repugnant to me also Red. So msnBS and you make this into a race war...we who are seriously offended are racists, by your and msnbc's contex, yes?
I think not..
Which sermon of Rev. Wrights did you listen to in it's entirety before coming to that conclusion, greenbear?
LMAO vglance......really. Thats all you want? My grandfather (a decorated WW2 hero) used to say. "Wish in one hand, and shyt in the other! Which ones real?" LMAO You wish to assist Feisty? lol! That made my day!
Feisty, you are so wrong - here is an excerpt from the Democratic Email Campaign sent this morning to millions of people:
Politicians of both parties pull whatever card they can get away with - there are no lily white Democrats
HUH?
Thanks but no thanks - I'll take a pass...
Well, then DON'T READ THEM!
For the love of GAWD will you quit your bitching!
Do you really believe I CARE what you think?
There you are Harry - you sure scurried off when you got caught in ANOTHER one of your bold faced lies yesterday... lmao
OUCH! That one had to hurt!
I say let the GOP play this card hen we can go after Mittens magic under wear and his faith.
jollyoldsoul1,
You see part of it was to see Feisty's reaction to my simple and reasonable request. Her response speaks volumes about her character whether she answers the question or not. That's the benefit of employing the Socratic Method.
She can choose to engage in serious debate that goes deeper than media bias fed rhetoric or she can allow her amygdala to get the better of her by responding emotionally instead of rationally.
Red...you're the car stalled at the side of the road...traffic is jamming...i'm running late...get me past this wreck...don't look...don't look...........ooooooh nooooooooo...I looked. darn!
Ped in frisco...I must listen to a complete sermon to know I don't like the man's rants and rage?. To do that would be as bad as having to read every post Feisty has ever written...1 of hell's punishments to pass one 's time there.
You are right, Robin. I haven't heard Hussein indicate that he disagrees that the ads attacking Romney and Big Oil.
Interesting piece of revisionist history.

Sorry, anyone who compares the U.S. economy to Greece is an unenlightened economic dolt. The two are not comparable and any attempt to do so is an exercise is idiocy and Faux style news sensationalism.
It's a bit ironic that you call someone out as trying to revise history by quoting the number 2 and number 3 worst offenders of the same. Why not make it a trifecta and quote NBC too?
Mitt flip flop flopper would be a big mistake like "W", lets not do that again !
Desperate would describe most of the liberals on the vine. Their hate comments and inuendo are the perfect example of it. If those of you...fiesty, bold type bev and so are so confident the election is already decided why bash the few conservatives on the vine? I fail to understand if you minds it already decided...why continue the bashing of posters on here that disagree with your collective arrogance and confidence.
Not supporting some ads by a PAC takes some courage...why wouldn't the POTUS do the same, esp to someone like his buddy Mayer, with his fowl language description of Palin. If a republican said the same of the 1st lady it would be totally unacceptable with your crowd, but the double standard only exists in a fairy tale world for you.
Deflection and diversion will not fool most Americans, it will fool some. But people are tired of looking for jobs that don't exist and thinking that gay marriage is more important is...well just a diversion.
Greenbear, sometime CONTEXT is important - especially when defaming someone's character and portraying them in a dishonest light. Aren't you the least bit curious about why this former US Marine who risked his life in defense of his country would rage? Any idea what the entire narative may have been about before you rant yourself about how he's an America-hating racist? Are you content to just swallow the swill you're spoon-fed by those with a very narrow agenda? Apparently you are.
Looks as though the righties on this board are more interested in attacking Feisty Redhead than anything else. Maybe that's because their candidate has nothing to offer. I don't know, you be the judge.
Thanks Tony!
All they have left in the Karl Rove playbook is to attack & distract!
Sucks to be them that I NEVER back down from these douche bags!
sam, you mean the liar Scott Walker whose policies haven't produced any jobs?
I seem to remember the liar promising over 100,000 jobs his first year...
I asked her a question, a very simple question. I simply wanted to know what her ideology was. How she defined it instead of myself making assumptions. And you take it as attacking her? While she uses a vile term like douche bags?
The mere fact that you guys can twist the violent speech around and make us look like the offenders is just one of countless examples of how impossible you are making it to engage in any credible debate. Civilized people don't use language like douche bag. Rational, emotionally stable and sophisticated people don't use that term either.
Where does this verbal violence come from? And how do you ignore the complete loss of self-discipline?
And this isn't about me being self-righteous. This is about being human.
If we are ever going to fix this country, we need to work together, not tear each other apart.
In what way does calling people a douche bag bring people together? You think you have the answers to fix this country? Or maybe you at least think you have a real bead on what the problem is? How could you consider yourself assured that your position on anything is accurate if you cannot stop yourself from resorting to vile language?
Can you answer these questions calmly and maturely or do you feel elevated temperatures, a rise in heartbeat, and an immediate need to lash out?
...from past experience I would say carrot top's function is to stir up sh$t and that's it! 'nuff said?
What are you talking about? I don't see anywhere in these posts where she even responded to you or your question. You sound like someone who jumps in the photo uninvited.
Are you on LSD? Do you read the multitude of garbage the rwnj trolls that pass through here post? They, at best, have third grade grammar skills and are nowhere near being able to debate a bug on the sidewalk.
Oh, blow it out your a$$. The majority of attack ads started on Jan 20, 2009 when a man not completely Caucasian and not from northern European descent was inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States. Since then, he has tried countless times to work with the other party only to be flatly be told no. The only goal, they said, was to make him a one term president. So much for that statement.
Is this a rwnj's attempt at reverse psychology? Not very convincing and you're not funny either. Just thought I'd let you know.
EvaPeron,
I don't necessarily believe that. I think deep down, everyone at the end of the day would rather not see violence and anger and hate. But we all have a different vision of what utopia looks like and what it takes to achieve it. That paradigm changes as we learn more about ourselves, human nature, history and how the world works. So much of what we know is often only a fraction of the truth or the total picture, especially considering the diluted and corrupt sources from which most of us get our information.
Only until we get beyond the media talking points and emotional hijackings which leads to stonewalling or personal attacks will we ever begin to reach a higher understanding.
Some of us have experienced great hardship, loss or overwhelming success. Some of us have owned our own companies, raised our own children, traveled around the globe, served in the defense of our country, or significantly impacted the lives of others. But not all of us have done all of these things and more.
There's not a single person here that we can't learn something from. All we have to do is reach a level of self awareness to determine are we being open-minded or are we guided by a bias or agenda that is driving our decision-making.
Tonybeeerm,
Do you not see the level of angst in the tone of your post? Right wing nut jobs? Poor grammar? Blow it out my a$$?
Tony, this isn't reverse psychology. This isn't any race to claim the high road first. So much propaganda is out there trying to pit the conservative rallies as savages and violent. But it's the WSP and liberal rallies that bring out the violence and destruction of property. It is obvious where the loss of emotional control and discipline comes from. And while there are anarchists on both sides, the conservatives (makes sense considering the name) self-police the crowds and shut down the anarchists.
But back to my point, why are you further perpetuating a negative atmosphere with your post?
"What are you talking about? I don't see anywhere in these posts where she even responded to you or your question. You sound like someone who jumps in the photo uninvited."
Yes she did, scroll back up.
anytime someone starts throwing stuff like that out for political purposes, you better find the original material, because you can be certain that what you have been shown has been heavily edited
He promised 250k jobs by the end of his term, give him time. After he wins this recall election companies will be coming over from IL and setting up shop.. Alot of people dont talk about it since they fear repercussions for supporting Walker but the majority do. Im even seeing more and more I stand with Walker signs..

"Obama accomplished something, for the first time in US history he and the democratic Congress succeeded in getting our credit rating devalued"
from a Washington Post article dated Aug 5th, 2011
S&P downgrades U.S. credit rating for first time
View Photo Gallery — A look at the hustle and bustle on Wall Street.
By Zachary A. Goldfarb, Published: August 5, 2011
Standard & Poor’s announced Friday night that it has downgraded the U.S. credit rating for the first time, dealing a symbolic blow to the world’s economic superpower in what was a sharply worded critique of the American political system.
Lowering the nation’s rating to one notch below AAA, the credit rating company said “political brinkmanship” in the debate over the debt had made the U.S. government’s ability to manage its finances “less stable, less effective and less predictable.” It said the bipartisan agreement reached this week to find at least $2.1 trillion in budget savings “fell short” of what was necessary to tame the nation’s debt over time and predicted that leaders would not be likely to achieve more savings in the future.
In August 2011 it was NOT the Democrats who were in control of congress- it was NOT the president who refused to extend the debt limit- this is ENTIRELY at the feet of the Republican controlled house, no one else. They were the ones who were playing chicken with our nations credit rating. They were the ones who said: Give us everything we want or we'll drive the credit rating off a cliff, no compromises. They were the ones who caused this to happen.
vglance-
Your political views don't sound all that different from mine (I would call myself a social liberal/fiscal moderate) and I certainly don't agree with everything or even a lot of what Feisty posts.
That said:
1) I read thru the posts on this thread and the one above it and do not see anywhere that she called you any names. The only response to your somewhat arrogant sounding question ("so I can help walk you through the appropriate equation."- really?) was basically "No thanks". I don't see in any way how that is an issue. If you can point me to where she did call you a name then I will apologize.
2) I've been coming to Newsvine on politically related issues for several years and yes, there is a lot of juvenile back and forth name calling from both sides. But I can tell you for a fact that Feisty takes a lot more than she gives. Often her comments are pointed and occasionally she may cross the line but I see 10 times as many personal, vile and sometimes almost threatening attacks directed towards her in almost every thread. By comparison, the stuff directed towards her in just this one- which was far harsher than anything she said to you- is positively civil.
3) I've been interested in politics for about 40 years. I've only voted for a Democratic presidential candidate twice in all that time (Republican 5 times/Libertarian 1/Other 1). The Democrats have done plenty that I don't agree with and a few things that truly have disgusted me. But if you look at the Republican side of the picture starting about the time that Gingerich was made speaker it's become an almost non-stop assault on civil discourse, reason and reality. Ken Lay secretly financing attack ads on McCain in the '00 Republican primary. The swiftboating of John Kerry. The relentless, ongoing claims that President Obama is a Muslim and not an American citizen. That's at the party level. But if you really want to see it, go on Newsvine on an article about gay marriage or the Treyvon Martin case or countless other topics. Better yet, go to the comments section for a site like "the 'grio" or best of all, Fox News. If you really want to see vile, despicable, violent, threatening, bigoted, racist attacks you will find more than you could ever possibly imagine.
And that ain't coming from the left.
Perhaps what is being observed should be a wake up call to all of us.....People behaving in a miserable, intolerant, juvenile fashion. People with stinted vocabularies and imaginations to match. People with vacuums insead of open minds. What is sobering is that all these folks are allowed to vote (at least I presume so, as otherwise, why would they bother responding to news articles of a political nature) On a couple of occassions, I have submitted "just suppose" scenerios for consideration. I was certainly not making accusations, nor was I asserting the truth, merely making a "what if" proposition for consideration......looking at things from a different perspective, testing the waters to see if others had had similar thoughts. What I got for my efforts were rude insults and remarks that indicated that I needed medication.
The only certain things in life may be death and taxes, but for as long as we continue to be taxed you can be certain that some Americans will go to ridiculous lengths to avoid paying them. Whether they're blatantly exploitive or just laughably inefficient, the numerous loopholes in America's various tax codes are costing our state and federal governments millions of dollars every April.
we can HOPE that Ronney will to talk to Florida, how to saves the Florida State taxes ! Nay I don't think so,since he's share the bed with Corporation.
A 1959 reform to Florida's property tax codes dramatically lowered the rates for "agricultural" land in order to encourage more farmers to work within the urban-sprawl-ridden state. However, a loophole in the law meant that anyone could legally qualify their land as farmland by stocking it with a few cows. As a result, the Walt Disney Corporation and Florida's other major landowners have found a way to collectively dodge $950 million a year in county taxes by hiring "Rent-a-Cow" ranchers to let their livestock graze on soggy lots and acres of carefully-mowed grass. Even celebrities like Tom Cruise dodge property tax on their vacation homes by letting a few sheep hang out on the lawn. Though several attempts have been made to close the loophole over the years, they've been crushed by Florida's agriculture lobby every time.
Even with the Bogus "High 35% of Corporate Tax",The End result in April, always the 1% paying almost nothing if to compares to average working Americans.
Well I learned something new today...it is Mitt Romney and the Reublicans whose plan is to "divert and distract"....OK.
The President and his team would neeeeeeeeever even dream of doing that.
So Romney will wage his campaign with a figurative arm tied behind his back, while an ungloved Obama can attack him and his wife without consequence.
Obama's 20+ relationship with the 'good' Rev. Wright should be part of the process I think! I also believe that certain passages in Obama's book 'Dreams from my Father', should also be fair game. Here's one quote in particular "The white mans greed is the poors need". Does Mr Obama suggest only white men have greed? Other quotes in the book Obama admits to cocaine use and heavy drinking. Also off limits?
GAWD you all reek of desperation!
I also believe Billy - you might want to check all of the fact checking sites prior to traveling down that road!
Not that you need any assistance in making yourself look anymore foolish then you already manage to!
Personally, I'm praying you right wing nuts run the Wright pseudo scandal right along with the birther bull@!$%#!
Great way to shore up swing voters & Indy's! lmao!
BTW - Since it's Friday - the boilermakers on are the house!
Why Romney? This is a very close spiritual adviser to the jerk that is ruining our country. Take and use all the ammunition provided and don't think for a moment that Dumbama would not use something like it against you!
Wake up Romney, or, go home. Politics are dirty business and nothing else.
Here’s the rundown on Mitt Romney’s devastating record as CEO of Bain Capital, a tenure marked by bankruptcies, bailouts, and mass layoffs — all while Romney and his partners raked in billions of dollars in profits for the firm and Romney himself amassed a quarter-billion dollar fortune.
Romney’s Bain Capital Caused Mass Layoffs, Sent Jobs Overseas
Thousands of Americans were laid off by Bain Capital at companies it purchased, managed, and, at least a quarter of the time, drove into bankruptcy. And for those considering voting for Rommel, WHO WILL START A WAR WITH IRAN, A Vote for ANY republicanCrimeCartelSoldier, Rommel, IS a Vote against Yours and Your Family's Well Being.
Feisty's moonbat-ism of the day:
"How dare a candidate for President criticize his opponent?"
Your so right Romney! You are the wrong course for our great nation!
Yes, it's wrong and it just shows the Repubs 'don't have anything' so they're gonna play this religion card!
I personally thought Romoney would be above this (and it IS HIM even though it's called PAC money!!)
Let the war of religions begin!
Huh? Did you read the article. The scarlet pimpernel of Illinois has proclaimed her right to make anything mean anything. "They seek her here, they seek her there! Those liberals seek her everywhere, the bulbasious fiesty pimp ernel!
lol! wrights religion is hate. sounds like the lib religion!
and how many times do the libs point out romney is a mormon?
Wright is nothing about religion, unless the Black Panthers are classified as a religion. He preaches hate, and Obama listened for twenty years and never heard it. WOW!
Obama's past is pretty murky, gaps and holes that have never been filled. But the liberal media has examined Romney's past back to his birth... nothing there but a high school prank! We still don't know much about Barry except he liked cocaine and drank lots of beer in college. This from his own book. But we don't know much else! His only friends seem to be Bill Ayers, Bernadett Dohrn and his other friend of over 20 years Reverend Wright.... but Romney backs off the Rev. Wright thing, and Obama will continue to attack Romney's wife and high school record, lol.
Fortunately this year will be different than 2008, we all know the lies, we know there is no hope and change coming from Obama! We know we're in an economic hole he cannot pull us out of! His murky background doesn't concern me anymore, just his record! And that really sucks!
rightisright
All religions are hate religions, they just hate different things. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
And why do all the rightwingers keep using LOL LOL LOL LOL????????????????
Steve, my new t-shirt has been ordered. VOTE FOR THE AMERICAN THIS TIME". This is not a reference to his birthplace, just his actions.
flipper I see right thru you and the gop ..I believe this was a ploy on the part of the gop to make flipper look good trying to say hes against the use of super pacs in this manner hmmm wasnt he the one that used attack ads agaisnt all his opponents in the primary he's running scared and so are the gop that if this ad came out it would open up a can of worms he doesnt want opened, his religion and some of his stances during the primaries of which hes flip floped on now. Flipper then accuses Obama of attacking his character huh Obamas first ad was about bain and flipper their records and what that type of capitialist co they are and I believe thats very relevent hes never run a company that created jobs or manufactuered anything hes bought into companies and picked em apart screwed everyone involved except bain and that isnt the type of business man this country needs, He backs the ryan plan thats bush on steriods yeah that guy that almost collapsed our countries economy futhermore his plan is to take from those in need and give to those that dont need hes a bomb waiting to explode on all of us our money wont be worth the paper its written on...Vote DEM across the board in Nov lets get our country back.
Not anywhere near as many times the wingnut choir have called President Obama a muslim.
Help us understand...our muslim president, went to a church for 20 years??? How does that work exactly in your small section of the universe???
We're guessing you've never witnessed what passes for intelligent discussion over at the fox nation on a daily basis??? Check it out, you should end up ashamed.
Stones + glass houses = why wingnuts get so whiny
Wow, sounds just like Jesus. Are you saying what's good for Jesus isn't good for Obama?
and how many times do the libs point out romney is a mormon?
Right -
Hardly as many times as the Repubes have!
Doesn't matter if he's a martian. The guy is not going to win, period. Old white people aren't enough to get him elected. And even though you villainous righties will try to steal the election, as you did in 2000, it won't work this time. Nearly everyone not white and over 40 will not vote for Romney. Once again, I find it rather amusing that the rwnj trolls control these boards during business hours, but once it gets past quittin' time, the real people take over. Wonder why?
Just like bashing Romney over his underwear, how about Reid, he wears em too. So it ok for Reid and quite a few others to be mormon by not Romney. I know Obama professes christianity but his taxe returns do not indicate any donations to a church...Romney's does as well Biden...so what's up with that? I see some asking for Romney's school transcripts...here again why not both sides show them off?
been reading those steamy turn of the century novels again jolly old? Now its OBAMA's fault the extremists who want him out want to try a bit of race baiting once again? Didn't work the first time, won't work this one. Even the more level headed Republicans know this is a non-starter.
So....every single person who does not support Barack Obama for re-election is either an "extremist", a "nut job", a "race baiter", or "villainous".
Really good to know...I'll make a note. I'll also make a note that every single person who supports Mr. Obama's re-election is "level headed", "fair minded", "fully informed", "objective", and "highly educated"...despite the facts that show otherwise.
I forgot the ever present "right winger" and the extremely boring "teabagger".
I will never judge a candidate based on other people's remarks or endorsements. Anyone with a political record has left enough of himself to be judged without needing to pay attention to some fringe element of his party. It's a shame a legitimate party candidate has to call a press conference just to distance himself from someone over whom he has no control anyway.
I won't judge him based on the sleazy tactics of this PAC, anymore than I judge Obama based on his previous association with Rev Wright. I judge them based on their words and actions, not the words of others.
AG, a very honorable comment with honorable intentions behind it. I appreciate your post. I also worry that its lesson and value will be wasted on the many who read it...but don't let my negativity stop ya!
For most people that will still lead them to the same conclusion they had before your statement. They will believe what they want to.
Posting on the web is absolutely a complete waste of time and energy.
See. I just wasted 20 seconds.
Now that post is hilarious...great...wasteful...job!
Mitt said Crispy Cream is fattining !
Ag99 well said but that falls on deaf ears here on the vine. The majority of left leaning posters on here do the splendid job of blasting others that disagree with hateful and spiteful comments that are filled with inuendo for simply disagreeing, thinking that their pitiful comments will change anyones mind.
Justredd: oh, the irony. and what did you just do right winger? Pot, meet kettle.
AP...
What did "just" write that was "hateful" or "spiteful" ???
Good move Romney, don't get into the gutter with the democrats. Keep pounding Obama on the economy, jobs, and over spending. I figured the democrats would love something along the so called "race card" line since they seem to love deflections like "war on women", & "gay marriages" anything to avoid talking about their failures.
Remember the words of Bill Clinton "IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID"!!!!
Uh...James Carville.
Go back and watch Faux News that enables them to brainwash people like you to believe those policies that are important to all the women and people who want what you apparently take for granted and that is the equality that all men and women are entitled to! I am an independent who will always stand up against those who belittle others who have rights that they deserve by being a citizen of the United States!
Bring it on Willard, and put you big boy pants on. The President will be waiting. You trash him and he will trash you.
AG99: Well stated. We would all do well to listen to the candidates themselves, rather than sensationalism in the guise of campaign ads.
Put you big boy pants on. Does he have to spell it right too?
I figured the democrats would love something along the so called "race card" line since they seem to love deflections like "war on women", & "gay marriages" anything to avoid talking about their failures.
Sfc - That's the biggest line of BS, and projection of one's self, I've heard all day. The Repubican party, particularly the RWNJ's, absolutely "thrive" on those sort of talking points.
Anytime one of you whack-jobs opens your ignorant mouth, something that has to do with the evils of gay marriage, Women's rights, creation over evolution, or some other horse-@!$%# dribbles out of your mouths. Without these talking points, the Repubes would cease to exist as a party.....
Obama/Biden - 2012
GT, You left wing nuts can do nothing but deflect. You can't tout Obama's record because he doesn't have one. Try convincing someone that Obama has done something for the people besides put them another 4 trillion, and counting, in debt.
BTW, I haven't seen a post from you that has made any sense or added to the conversation. If you think it's BS prove me wrong and tell me what a great job Obama is doing, but I won't hold my breath.
sfcret: doesn't have a record? Obama?? Is that your problem?? Ok, ending one war, setting the end to the second, bringing the country back from the edge of economic collapse, taking a modest step to end the idiocy of the US being the only developed country in the entire world without a health care system, getting Osama, getting Sadaam, saving the auto industry, oh my...someone has been in a very, very deep sleep...I would think those of you on the extreme right would be sticking to your argument that he's TOO active...but I won't hold my breath for any consistency here.
BTW, I haven't seen a post from you that has made any sense or added to the conversation. If you think it's BS prove me wrong and tell me what a great job Obama is doing, but I won't hold my breath.
Sfc -
He is slowly digging us out of the hole that the previous administration had gotten us into, with the anchor of a Tea-bag obstructionist Congress hanging around his neck.
Obama/Biden 2012
AP, Nice try but not very effective or proof of any major accomplishments. Lets take your points, first the ending of one war and setting the ending to a second war - Obama had nothing to do with ending the war in Iraq or removing the troops from Iraq, that was done by an agreement between President Bush and the Iraqi government. Obama wanted to, and tried, to leave several thousand troops in Iraq, but couldn't reach an agreement with the Iraqi government so had to move Americans out of Iraq. Setting a date to remove combat troops from any country when engaged in combat is a really unprofessional decision for a Commander-in-Chief. Telling the enemy when we will leave is asinine. BTW, Obama just signed an agreement with Afghanistan that we will continue to support them militarily and financially until 2024. We killed OBL over a year ago, why are we still in Afghanistan, further, we have had more casualties under Obama in a little over 3 yrs than we did under Bush in 7 yrs. (Was killing OBL, worth over a thousand American soldiers lives?)
He had little if anything to do with bringing our country back from economic collapse, if you are talking about TARP. TARP was signed by President Bush, Obama did vote for it as a Senator. As for the Health Care System, that is being contested in Federal Courts, with a decision due in Jun or Jul from the Supreme Court as to the constitutionality of the law. Further the majority of Americans still don't want Obamacare. As for saving the Auto Industry, Ford Motors was and is doing fine without any Government assistance. As for bailing out GM and Chrysler, all that did was prop up Obama's union support. GM and Chrysler should have been forced to use Chapter 11 Bankruptcy like any other company. This was political payback to the unions at the expense of shareholders and others that got shafted without getting their day in bankruptcy court.
As for getting Osama, that was the good work of our intelligence and military personnel. Anyone, with a ounce of brains could have given, and would have given, the order to take him out. Obama's biggest mistake was trying to make it a political accomplishment and trying to take all the credit for it, even the Navy Seals were pissed about that. You mentioned Sadaam, assuming you meant Hussein, he was captured while Bush was President, and tried and hung by the Iraqi government.
Now do you want to try for more bogus accomplishments by Obama. Let's try raising the National Debt by over 5 Trillion Dollars in a little over 3 yrs, more than Bush did in 8 yrs. More golf dates and more vacations than any other President. Has never quit campaigning and constantly blames Bush, the Arab Spring, BP oil spill, Japanese Tsunami and economic problems in Europe.

Good points...but it's wasting your time...the folks on this site see what the President tells them to see. There's no point trying to debate anything. They all know you are just a villainous teapug listening to Rush Limberger and getting guest spot on Faux News. A teapuglican and a repuke too. And you'll vote for 'Mittens' as opposed to 'Girlyhands' because you've been brainwashed by the above...and you are hoping the election is agian stolen, like in 2000 and 2004.
By the way...did you know that while Mrs. Obama is one of the most beautiful women in the world and is a magnificent mother...all Mrs. Romney ever did was eat bonbons that her chef made for her, so she has to try to make some big deal over surviving cancer and MS...and that she still hasn't "provived any links" as proof to the Newsvine crowd...who are the most highly educated and informed open-minded people you will ever come across.
There...that should set you a bit straighter !
Romney would be extremely stupid to go down that route. No doubt though that the teanuts will do it anyway.
He already did on Fox. And he stands by whatever contradictory statements he has made.
Why bring up Obama paying off Rev. Wright?...when there is more than enough things about the lousy economy to spend a $1 billion on in ads pointing out Obama pathetic record. Romney doesn't have enought or will have enough to cover everything he could say about Obama's economy
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/book-obama-team-tried-to-pay-rev-wright-150k-to-keep-quiet-until-after-2008-election/
Oh yes, that right wing rag, The Blaze. Actually, the President has a great records and hopefully we will have 68,000,000 vote for him in November.
So keep reading that rag!
Even worse, it's actually Glenn Beck's web site. *chuckle*
So...... then when you hear Rev. Wright say in his own words that he was offered the money to go away. You think what? lalalalalalalalala I dont hear you lalalalalalalalalalalala! I live in Detroit. If Im getting gas and I hear get out of your car or I will kill you Im going lalalalalalalalalalala I dont hear you lalalalalalalalalala!
jobnone...your squack and screech are so plebian...why do you bother?

You are aware that Ed Klein was the liberal rag NY Times Magazine's editor for 10 years.
"Actually, the President has a great records and hopefully we will have 68,000,000 vote for him in November."
I think most of them are off the drugs by now.
That's right sweetie - the rag website which Glenn Beck happens to run...
You know these nitwits are desperate when they link a UK tabloid trying to pass it off as a reputable site! LMFAO!
Go eat another healthy helping of brocolli there sweetcheeks - YOU are out of GAS!
Damn - you nitwits are making this WAAAAY to easy!
"Damn - you nitwits are making this WAAAAY to easy!"
No the corrupt president you voted for is making this WAAAAY to easy.
Hey Jolly - where did you go?
Come on little man - regale us with your military service fantasies...
For such a self-proclaimed bad ass you sure are a pussy when it comes to owning up to your BS!
Oh - I saw it babe - how about you back up your crap?
See you may be to snooker the stuck on stupid crowd over on the Blaze, but, around these parts you better well be prepared to prove your allegations... darling!
PS: You're flag avatar reminds me of the quote from Upton Sinclair; When facism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross...
Stay warm toots!
"Oh - I saw it babe - how about you back up your crap?"
I did you old bag. Go talk to talk to your other self that apparently can't open a link.
BTW it's amazing and telling about you job here on this blog considering that you get to see the posts before the editing time is up.
Can you cite above in one of my posts where it says "See above airhead."
so I drive around the corner and there it is...a Red.Car on the side of the road. Keep driving...don't look... do not look...DO NOT LOOK!...ARRRRRGGGGG...I looked. When I was a young lad and cussed in front of my maternal grandfather, he asked if I ate with my foul mouth. I can't remember all the times I've cussed since, but I do remember my gramps insight. Have a nice nigh tFRH.
BTW...my paternal grandmother, a school teacher in Duluth MN, was asked to host UptonSinclair for the afternoon before the evening speech to a women's intellectual group. Her memory of the man was unclean, malodorous, foulmouthed, and rude.
Nothing I enjoy more then exposing a pathological liar - it was copied and pasted from you original comment before you thought better of it...
Oh, and nothing like contradicting yourself.... LMFAO!
Lay off the bottle babe - you are embarassing yourself & the rest of the right wing nitwits!
Do YOU really want to continue? lol
feisty he couldnt possibly embarrass himself more than you embarrass the human race
Wise choice - I didn't think so...
"Wise choice - I didn't think so..."
I ain't done with you yet.....not by a long shot. Sorry people have other things that require my attention than responding immediately to some washed up old Obama ass kisser.
"Nothing I enjoy more then exposing a pathological liar - it was copied and pasted from you original comment before you thought better of it..."
I never said I didn't type it. I asked where it is in the thead. Are you that hard up waiting with baited rank breath that you just can't wait for my more appropriate response? Although "airhead" is actually being too kind.
"PS: You're flag avatar reminds me of the quote from Upton Sinclair; When facism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross..."
And your avatar reminds me of a typical loser MSNBC viewer. You have seen their pathetic ratings haven't you? BTW if you want to know what to know what true facism is just vote Obama back in for another 4 years of failure.
BTW you loser president has been exposed for the ass*hole he is.....by his own pastor.
Ratings...

In Wright's OWN words....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzKVvcM2Uso
Same here AG99!!! I want to go to Mr. Romney's record and to the words he speaks right now and what he said in the past more then meaningless religious issues!!!! The crux of everything is the economy and I said if gas prices were up above 4.00 dollars a gallon by September not November the President would have a hard time winning but that looks like it won't happen!!!
I'm no Romney fan, but I do applaud this move on his part. Now, Hannity and Beck sure as heck aren't going to be pleased. This is all those two dick-weeds could talk about last night and this morning. 5'll get you 10 they keep it up, regardless of what Mitt says.
The Rev Wright ads didn't work in 2008 what makes them think they will work in 2012....I'm sure Hannity is going to enjoy this...he started with the Rev Wright crap two weeks ago. Hannity is the devil.
I'm sure Romney and most repubs in congress have ties to "the illuminati"...(much worse) look it up on youtube.
Obama/Biden and all democrats in 2012 !!
lol toyota. romney up by ten!!!
AHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAH!
Toyota3: Sean Hannity has never stopped with the Reverend Wright and the William Ayers "crap." He will probably air another one of his specials about the connection between William Ayers and President Obama, when are ludicrous. They discuss William Ayers, show photographs of President Obama's first campaign headquarters, and play "spooky" music.
ayers, the guy that bombed the pentagon? wow, friends with obama?
lol!
anybody doesnt think obamas a radical is an idiot.
Obama was about 6 at the time. Would have been some unusual friendship...
Toyota is fixated on "illuminati." over the last 2 days he's posted his illuminati rant multiple times.
The illuminati and Mormon Church will never mingle and Mitt's loyalty is to his church. If you see Toyota in the hall, direct him to the UFO channel.
Good to know you're reading greenbear: Just bringing it to people's attention...that's all. Spread the word and look it up...very interesting...
The GOP want destruction of America plan and simple.
Toyota, clear concise response...i'll step off my soapbox, out of respect to you and apologize for my UFO snipe
Romney being a Mormon is irrelavent.
Morman's are not killing Christians muslim/islamiist are.
IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE THAT OBAMA IS A MUSLIM JUST ASK HIM OR BETTER
YET JUST WATCH AND HE WILL TELL YOU!!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=tCAffMSWSzY#t=28<http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?
The Illuminati have more pressing things to do than become embroiled in the schoolyard scraps of our primary election system. Let the boys scrap it out in the school yards for all the world to watch....It doesn't really matter, because as has been repeated over and over, those in Washington are just puppets for one financial concern or another.
MSN-BS states the controversy is racially charged. And the incumbent agitator posts that it's a "revisiting of a race war."
There is no truth by msnbc and it's resident straw.
Yes Mr. Romney, not using it is wise, but the people definitely should know the radical anti americanism obama emraced for 20 years.
you judge a bird by its feathers, a person by their friends. communists, terrorists, tax evaders, illegal immigrants, felons (yes, all obamas friends)
oh, feisty, nothin racial about bringing up wright. you wish!!! the only racists are liberals. ya keep dragging race IN!
Ummmmm I dont think they had these interview tapes in 2008. Im more interested in Mr. Obama's college papers and transcripts. I dont think we will ever see them, but Im betting there are some interesting stuff there. Ask anyone who admits to drinking heavily and living a life of drugs stops when you get your HS diploma. If anything once your out of your parents home its wooooopie time.
He was a top student. Other than that, when has anyone ever demanded to see what Presidents wrote in college? Utter conspiracy nonsense. And please cite your credible source as to your drinking and drugs theory. I know the first black President is going to be held to a different standard, but let's try to let the race thing go.
Have a great one.
His book. Read it! Actually you can hear it on audibles. And you know he was a top student, how? I mean we know about many politicians like John Kerry and GB Jr barely getting through school. All Ive ever heard or read is someone else saying ..... He was smart ..... he was president of Harvard review, but if you listen to his reading of his book or gasp actually read the book, you will hear his description of High School and what it entailed for him and his friends.
clotho, in 2008 I realized Obama's election was a fait accompli and a necessary step forward and up for our nation. had I voted it would definitely not been for him...does that make me a racist for not liking his 3 1/2 years as president? the stirrings in America are because it's as if a Caucasian cannot sneeze in a room of multi races/nationalities without someone denigrating the sneezer as a racist, genocidal assassin spreading killer germs. (exaggeration and sarcasm were intentionally used to make this point.)

What about Romney's "papers and transcripts"? We already know Romney was a bully.
Carnival barker.
Obama/Biden 2012
Clotho, he has freely admitted his past drug experience from HIS book! Please do your research and respond! As to his other 'misinformation, consider the following stories we know from him and the truth:
My Name is African Swahili - NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and 'Baraka' (from which Barack came) means 'blessed' in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama. Barack Hussein Obama is not half black. Obama is the first Arab-American President, not the first black President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side and 43.75% Arabic and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side. Although Barack Hussein Obama's father was from Kenya, his father's family
was mainly Arabs. Barack Hussein Obama's father was only 12.5% African Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father's birth certificate states he's Arab, not African Negro). From ... and for more....go to..... http://www.arcadeathome.com/newsboy.phtml?Barack_Hussein_Obama_-_Arab-American,_only_6.25%25_African
I Never Practiced Islam - NOT EXACTLY, you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change so you could run for office. 4-3-08 Article 'Obama was 'quite religious in Islam'' http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.viewhttp://www.wnd.com/index.phpfa=PAGE.view&pageId=60559
These are just a few of the facts that we know... who is he really? And why did he worship at Rev Wright's ministry for so many years when we know Rev Wright is not a fan of America!
We need tougher laws for clowns like Mitt Romney who abuse animals, poor dog !
Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard. That means the top 10% of his class in Harvard. JOS, you couldn't dream of doing that in a hundred lifetimes. If you actually read his book, which I'll bet dollars to donuts you didn't, you'd know he gave up the party life before he got admitted to the private school in Hawaii, before he got A's in Occidental College in California, long before he went to Harvard and graduated in the top 10% of his class.
But keep spreading your conspiracy garbage about his grades. The fact remains he's smarter and better educated than someone like Bush, who couldn't get into ivy league school without his dad's connections. And who probably wouldn't have even passed with a C average without that connection.
Yeah sure, Obama really did terrible just because some tool from Detroit isn't allowed to read his transcripts. Magna Cum Laude means all A's, you dipstick.
"before he got A's in Occidental College in California, long before he went to Harvard and graduated in the top 10% of his class."
And you have some evidence of his grades at Occidental? How about Columbia which was BEFOERE Harvard? Other that what Obama claims in his book?
We know Bush's grades at Yale because he produced his transcript, but not any of Obama's. Care to explain why?
It is easy for Romney to say he is against attacking the President's religious beliefs but what his campaign does will tell the true story.I never met a hypochondriac that wasn't sick or a kleptomaniac that wasn't a thief.
Mormon Church leaders have a long history of disparaging Christianity, declaring all churches and ministers of Christianity to be false, fallen and contrary to true doctrine. So what does he really care about Wright and his bible?
The hate and vitrol coming out of the pulplit in Rev Wright's church have nothing to do with Christianity in any form....Religion is being used as a cloak to mask what would be considered unacceptable hate speech in any other forum.
Sweet! We know the libs and DNC wouldn't hesitate to use such a tool.
Mr. Obama, our president's biggest enemy is his record as president.
That's where the focus has to remain.
We're living his failure day by day.
NO MORE Years!
Nuf C Nuf !
Aren't candidates not allowed to coordinate their campaign with SuperPACs? This sure sounds like coordination.
Easy Button.....101
If you like you current situation vote for more of the same.....Vote Obama
If you think we can do better and not better off than you were 4 years ago........Vote for Change
Vote for a new coach, a new leader.
NO MORE Years!
If you think you were better off in 2008 when the economy was in a state of collapse vote Republican. If you think you are better off now and the economy is better off in the last 40 months vote Democrat. I wouldn't want to take the chance that the same old gang could be back in the White House.
Sfcret what are you talking about in the gutter with the Democrats?
Mr. Wright states in the recorded interview that Mr. Obama said his (Mr. Wright's) problem was that he always had to tell the truth.
His statements that Mr. Obama attempted to purchase his silence are golden.
Focus on his failed presidency! That's the winning ticket!
America can't take 4 more years of this disasterous train wreck!
All4Areason-Do you mean if you are a1%er?Otherwise you need to read Romney's 59 Point Economic Plan .You can read can't you?If you can read then read that plan and if you're not a 1%er and you still support Romney then you're probably brain-dead.
What is it with the re(pubes) making the rediculous statement that Obama and the Dems are "desparate". Oh my what are they reading to come to that conclusion? Other repubs posts? Faux news just reported that Obama is off and running, out of the chute and is AHEAD in the polls. Even the most right wing news outlet is admitting Mittens is in...second place.
There are less than 7 months until election day when the people
will decide who will be the next
President of the United States .
The person elected will be the president of all Americans, not just the
Democrats or the Republicans.
It's time that we all need to come together, Democrats and Republicans alike,
in a bi-partisan effort for America :
If you will support Mitt Romney, please drive with your headlights ON during
the day.
If you support Barack Obama, please drive with your headlights OFF at night.
Together, we can make it happen. Thank you!
Jo, you sound less than tolerant. Tolerance only requires acting civil. Other nations have real problems. Here you can get fed and find a bed. I see no reason to be uncivil and suggest the death of your political opponents when there are so many nuts who will shoot people with little cause. Do you really want to support the death of other citizens? If you do you might be Cheney.
It's curtains for Mittens.
