Updated 1:48 p.m. - House Speaker John Boehner refused to comment on whether or not super PACs should use the Reverend Jeremiah Wright in political advertisements, saying instead that the presidential race would be about the economy.
This morning the New York Times broke the story that a conservative super PAC was contemplating -- and even had drawn up storyboards -- of an ad that would link President Obama to his controversial former pastor. Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney decried the possible ad saying to Townhall:
"I repudiate the effort by that PAC to promote an ad strategy of the nature they've described. I would like to see this campaign focus on the economy, on getting people back to work, on seeing rising incomes and growing prosperity -- particularly for those in the middle class of America.”
Boehner did not go as far as Romney, refusing to directly renounce the prospective ads.
"Listen, this election is going to be about the economy," he said. "I don't know what the other people do or why they do it, all I know if the American people vote with their wallets."
When reminded by NBC News that four years ago, Arizona Sen. John McCain, who was then the GOP nominee, disallowed his campaign from using Wright in any ads, Boehner responded, “The campaign is going to be about economics, it's going to be about jobs, as it should be.”
Since the outset of the Obama administration, Boehner has shown a reluctance to wade into the culture wars that have grown from some conservatives' intense dislike of the president, preferring instead to focus squarely on the economy. Boehner never outright condemns factions of his party that question the president’s patriotism or birthplace nor does he give them relevance, instead he repeats his mantra: “Where are the jobs?”
Boehner spokesman Michael Steel added: "As Boehner said, this election should be about the economy - not Rev. Wright."

so focusing on the economy instead of religion is a punt to the media?
I don't think that focusing on the economy os a "punt" Gem; nor does the media.
But when someone like Boehner stands against every action that the democrats and the President have offered over the last 3 1/2 years that could have helped every American, his actions are speaking volumns about the thought process of the republicans.
They have little to no repsect for the average American.
They support and extend benefits to corporate America at the expense of the middle class.
In 2010 many new TP candidates were elected under their promise to create more jobs. A complete failure to date.
So when Boehner and others from the GOP speak about jobs, they should be looking at themselves and their complete and utter failure to produce any type of jobs that they promised.
I understand what The Speaker was trying to do. He was trying to say that this wasn't an issue as far as he was concerned. Well, to some people (as evidenced by First Thoughts this morning) it is an issue.
Mr. Romney's spoken out against SuperPACs going after Rev. Wright. The Speaker, however, passed on it.
He passed on the issue entirely. He could have said he's against making ads about Rev. Wright but he didn't. Hell, he could have used his statement to pivot back to the economy but he didn't.
That's a punt.
nomoresamebs,
The Republican controlled House has passed a number of bills to get the economy going. Harry Reid, however, controls the Democratic-majority Senate where these bills have died underneath Harry's BUTT ..... he is sitting on them !
Harry is being an obstructionist and you are being a distortionist. Furthermore, any bills that might have passed would be then subject to Obama's disapproval.
Name them.
Name those republicans bills that are pro-jobs, and aren't pro-kickbackstorepublicancausesandstates, that are being held up by the Senate. Just give me the the HR number and I'll check them out myself.
There are issues more important than the economy (if you can't think of any I will be happy to enlighten you). And they require someone who has integrity and is trustworthy. No one knows what the religious nut job and known liar Romney would do as president. How can you support such a person? Considering the hand Obama was dealt he has certainly done well enough for a second term. It is only this "new politics" which dictates party above country. Very sad for us all.
No greater group of sniveling, subservient cowards has been assembled in modern times than the current Republican leadership, including Mitt Romney himself.
Nah, I just want them to name those bills so I can check them out.
If they are good bills, the senate truly is failing in it's role, then I have 0 compunction writing to democratic senators to fix it.
my bet, though? Republican talking point, they haven't produced any super-awesome-pro-economy bills but want to deflect to the senate to avoid pointing out their own incompetence in the House.
Aside from the fact that an oudated nontroversy is hardly a referendum on the president, wouldn't Teapublicans do better to focus on the economy instead of religious wedge issues?
Across the nation the GOP/TP has been focusing on a culture war and reproductive rights. WTF? It has bordered on obsession with hundreds of state bills on abortion, as well as lock-step votes against equal pay (Lilly Ledbetter) and now trying to strip out most of the Violence Against Women Act. Not to mention attacks against Planned Paretnhood and women's health care in the ACA. And of course all this was followed by fake outrage about how the Dems are making it all up. Boehner's performance was something, wasn't it? Pounding his hand on the podium and all -- That should convince you!
So what is the record since 2008, and since 2010 in particular when Teapublicans took a large majority control of the House and filibuster Tyranny of the Minority in the Senate? The rightwing obfuscate their Do Nothing behavior with complaints about how their legislation has been blocked from a vote -- a paltry few, and without consideration why this is the case. After all, how many times can the same NOT PLAUSIBLE Ryan Plan be recycled?
The 2012 election will not be about the economy, and certainly not a referndum on the president thanks to the far-Right hijacking the Republican Party. Romney is merely a show captian forced to walk lock-step with the crazies.
@teknishan
Here is a list...Ill save you the trouble.. these are just some of them though as I am sure there is at least an equal amount of obstructionism going on in both the house and the senate!
The “Forgotten Fifteen”
1) H.R. 872—Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act: The bill would amend the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) to clarify that the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or a state may not require a permit under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act for the application of pesticides regulated under FIFRA. By removing duplicative requirements, the bill would reduce overlapping and unnecessary regulation on pesticides that are already regulated, thereby reducing costs to both farmers and small business owners.
2) H.R. 910—Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011: H.R. 910 would prohibit the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases to address climate change under the Clean Air Act. More specifically, the bill would prohibit the EPA from regulating: water vapor; carbon dioxide; methane; nitrous oxide; and any other substance subject to regulation, action or consideration under the Clean Air Act to address climate change. The bill would prevent a needless increase in energy prices for American households and businesses.
3) H.J.Res. 37—Disapproving the rule submitted by the Federal Communications Commission with respect to regulating the Internet and broadband industry practices: The bill would prohibit the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from implementing a net-neutrality rule which would prohibit Internet providers from slowing or blocking legal websites or Internet services because of concerns over bandwidth. In May 2010, seventy-four House Democrats sent a letter to FCC Chairman Genachowski making the case that net-neutrality rules will “jeopardize jobs” and “should not be done without additional direction from Congress.”
4) H.R. 1230—Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act: H.R. 1230 would require the Department of the Interior (DOI) to auction offshore oil and gas leases in the Central and Western Gulf of Mexico, as well as in an area off the coast of Virginia. The bill would help to reduce energy prices and promote job creation by expediting offshore oil and natural gas exploration in the Gulf of Mexico and the Virginia coast.
5) H.R. 1229—Putting the Gulf of Mexico Back to Work Act: H.R. 1229 would direct the Secretary of the Interior to require that any lessee operating under an approved exploration plan obtain a permit before drilling any well, and obtain a new permit before drilling any well of a design that is significantly different than the design for which an existing permit was issued. The bill would prohibit the Secretary from issuing a permit without ensuring that the proposed drilling operations meet all critical safety system requirements (including blowout prevention), and oil spill response and containment requirements.
6) H.R. 1231—Reversing President Obama's Offshore Moratorium Act: H.R. 1231 would require that each five-year offshore oil and gas leasing program offer leasing in the areas with the most prospective oil and gas resources, and would establish a domestic oil and natural gas production goal. The bill would essentially lift the President's ban on new offshore drilling by requiring the Administration to move forward on American energy production in areas estimated to contain the most oil and natural gas resources.
7) H.R. 2021—The Jobs and Energy Permitting Act of 2011: H.R. 2021 would eliminate needless permitting delays that have stalled important energy production opportunities off the coast of Alaska. The bill would also eliminate the permitting back-and-forth that occurs between the EPA and its Environmental Appeals Board. Rather than having exploration air permits repeatedly approved and rescinded by the agency and its review board, the EPA will be required to take final action – granting or denying a permit—within six months.
8) H.R. 2018—Clean Water Cooperative Federalism Act of 2011: H.R. 2018 would a restrict the EPA ability to issue a revised or new water quality standard for a pollutant whenever a state has adopted and EPA already has approved a water quality standard for that pollutant, unless the state concurs with the EPA Administrator’s determination that the revised or new standard is necessary to meet the requirements of the Clean Water Act. The bill would prevent unilateral actions by the EPA that second-guess the decisions of the state regulatory agency.
9) H.R. 1315—Consumer Financial Protection & Soundness Improvement Act: H.R. 1315 would improve consumer protection and provides greater economic stability by allowing the Financial Stability Oversight Council to vote to set aside any harmful federal regulation.
10) H.R. 1938— North American-Made Energy Security Act: H.R. 1938 would direct the President, acting through the Secretary of Energy, to coordinate with all federal agencies responsible for an aspect of the President's National Interest Determination and Presidential Permit decision regarding construction and operation of Keystone XL, to ensure that all necessary actions are taken on an expedited schedule. The bill would promote job creation and energy security by ending the needless delay of the construction and operation of the Keystone XL pipeline.
11) H.R. 2587—Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act: H.R. 2587 would prohibit the National Labor Relations Board (NRLB) from ordering any employer to close, relocate, or transfer employment under any circumstance.
12) H.R. 2401—Transparency In Regulatory Analysis Of Impacts On The Nation: H.R. 2401 would require analyses of the cumulative and incremental impacts of certain rules and actions of the Environmental EPA. Specifically, the bill would require the President to establish the Committee for the Cumulative Analysis of Regulations that Impact Energy and Manufacturing. The Committee would be charged with analyzing and reporting on the cumulative and incremental impacts of covered rules and actions of the EPA concerning air, waste, water, and climate change. The bill would establish the interagency committee to evaluate the economic impacts of EPA regulations and delay the final dates for both the maximum achievable control technology (Utility MACT) standards and the cross-state air pollution rule (CSAPR) until the full impact has been studied. Both regulations would cost consumers and businesses $184 billion from 2011-2030 and would cause electrical prices to skyrocket.
13) H.R. 2681—Cement Sector Regulatory Relief Act: H.R. 2681 would provide a legislative stay of three EPA emissions standards that apply to cement manufacturing plants and are known as the “Cement MACT rules.” The bill would also provide for the implementation of effective regulation that protects communities both environmentally and economically.
14) H.R. 2250—EPA Regulatory Relief Act: H.R. 2250 would provide a legislative stay of four interrelated EPA rules, commonly referred to as the “Boiler MACT rules,” that govern emissions of mercury and other hazardous air pollutants from approximately 200,000 boilers and incinerators nationwide. The bill would remove this excessive regulatory burden placed on employers by the EPA’s Boiler MACT rules, potentially costing companies $14 billion and 224,000 American jobs, and replace them with sensible, achievable rules that do not destroy jobs.
15) H.R. 2273—Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act: H.R. 2273 would utilize the framework and requirements of an existing federal regulatory program developed by the EPA under the Solid Waste Disposal Act (RCRA) as the basis for enforceable minimum federal standards for the regulation of a waste stream known as coal ash. The bill would include enforceable federal standards, but would leave regulation and enforcement to the states. The bill would also provide consistent, safe management of coal combustion residuals in a way that protects jobs and encourages recycling and beneficial use.
And Still Counting…
16) H.R. 2433—Veterans Opportunity to Work Act: H.R. 2433 would create or modify programs that provide employment and training services to veterans and service members separating from active duty. The bill would also make changes to programs that offer home loan guarantees, ambulance services, and pension payments to qualifying individuals. Among other things, the bill would provide up to 12 months of Veterans Retraining Assistance to no more than 100,000 unemployed veterans that enter education or training programs at community colleges or technical schools to prepare them for employment in an occupational field that is determined by Department of Labor to have significant employment opportunities.
17) H.R. 674—To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the imposition of 3 percent withholding on certain payments made to vendors by government entities: H.R. 674 would permanently repeal the imposition of 3 percent withholding on certain payments made to vendors by government entities. Currently, the imposition of the 3 percent withholding is set to take effect on January 1, 2013. If the 3 percent withholding tax were implemented as scheduled, government entities would be required to withhold 3 percent of payments to persons providing property or services to the government. For example, on an invoice for $20,000 the government would pay the business $19,400 and withhold $600 as a preemptive tax. These added costs would almost certainly translate into fewer private-sector jobs and higher costs for the government and taxpayers.
18) H.Con.Res. 34—Budget for Fiscal Year 2012: The FY 2012 budget resolution passed by House Republicans promotes job creation and certainty by preventing the president’s job destroying tax increases and runaway spending.
Odd that Boehner and Romney are made to react to what a super-Pac is alleged to have said they will do, alleged from an anonymously sourced NY Times story. But when a slime-ball like Bill Maher gives $1 million to an Obama supporting super-Pac, there isn't anyone asking Obama to comment on the slime that supports him, there is now one asking him to discredit the super-Pac for taking the slimes money, there is no one asking him to tell the super-Pac to give back the slimes money.
Sure looks like the NY Times and the Washington Post are just making stuff up as they go along.
Wow. Story boards you say. I guess I stand corrected. I expect to see what story boards the Obama Pacs have come up with soon. Exciting times.
You might have been better off if you had read the story boards before you wrote this.
What are the story boards in Wisconsin saying about the recall election?
JustanotherVeteran -- I applaud the substance you posted (unlike the usual tripe from the rightwing that we see in here).
First, please note that Pelosi passed over 300 bills in her first term. Second, note that many of the above are merely a GOP/TP (twisted) version of bills submitted by Dems as an act of obstruction and protest per their premeditated plan. Third, note how many are actually about job creation. Fourth, you left out the commemorative coin, naming of buildings, and making it legal to have polar bear trophies though this species is protected. And most of all, you make no mention of the War on Women and attacks on the average American citizen in general--too many to list here we understand.
Ms. Pelsoi said this on her inauguration in 2006:
Many of those 300 bills resulted in $5 trillion in new deficit spending. New deficit spending Ms. Pelosi promised not to do. Kind of makes that "passed over 300 bills" metric a moot point.
War on Women was last week. This week it's the War on Jeremiah Wright. There must be a schedule for this stuff. Or perhaps maybe a story board?
TruePatriot...
Thanks for the acknowledgement... much appreciated and also unlike most of the lefties that we see in here.
Each of those bills listed would have boosted the economy therefore in round about ways helped the average citizen.... not attack them! I might also add that these bills are a representation of bipartisan agreements made in the House by both Dems and Repubs, we know this as they were passed by the house, and since its made up of both Dems and Repubs.... they must have come to some sort of agreement! On the other hand when they went to the Democratically controlled Senate... they were stymied and not even considered for a vote.... they are for all intents and purposes stuck under Reids proverbial A$$ and have been rotting there since they hit the Senate!
And just to be fair.. I posted substance after accusations were made... so I would ask the same in return please... Tell us about the "War on Women" and the "Attacks on the Average Citizen".
No comment from "teknishan" after the passed bills were posted ???
Thanks "JustAnotherVeteran" for saving me the trouble !
JustanotherVeteran -- Those bills may appear to "boost the economy" and may appear to be bipartisan because a few Blue Dogs vote with Republicans more than Dems. The Dems and Harry Reid are not pure as the driven snow, in large part because of the non-stop abuse of the filibuster and blocks and holds on appointments and other games being played by the GOP/TP. I hope the filibuster can be ruled out (though this would require a majority so good luck on that). The Dems have to fight fire with fire, whether raising money via Super PACS, etc., and the fire was started by Republicans -- Come on, who had a meeting on the day of the president's inauguration to conspire against him?
Why not work in a truly partisan way in which each Party gives a little to get a little -- A balanced approach that includes revenue being the most glaringly obvious obstruction? How can one watch the video of the debate in which every Republican candidate raised his/her hand against support for a 10 to 1 (cuts to revenue) proposal? 10 to 1! Who won't even say the word "compromise" on 60 Minutes?
Sorry dude, I'm not buying it. The Teapublicans have become nothing but a protest organization, and are not at all interested in governing. Worst of all, they have been willing to throw the American people under the bus to win elections.
TruePatriot...
It's mainly because the spending is so far out of the park now you can not afford to give in on concessions that make no REAL CUTS.... The left seems to want to delay the inevitable... WE ARE BROKE.... does the left not understand that? You can not rationalize with "ok i won't buy new clothes this week....but i get a new car next week" That is not a concession or a real cut in spending now is it... it does nothing to change the current path we are headed down..... in fact it speeds up the untimely end to our great nation. There has to be cuts.... real cuts.... no B.S. It's gonna hurt like hell.. and a lot of people are gonna be hurt by it no doubt..... but this is the way of things, not everyone gets cookies and icecream after the game. But it must be played, The left is not willing to admit that the situation requires a tourniquet and the risk of loosing a limb to save the life! The time is NOW not later... cuts must be deep and painful... or they simply wont work... we have F'd this up for so long that these steps are unavoidable, The Left knows this... but don't want to have the ball drop on there watch... so they continue to play like nothing is wrong, all the while We the People are bleeding out! The time is now.... That's what the Right is saying... the cuts must mean something.. truly mean something... or they are worthless and we won't bite on em any longer!
The reason there wasn't a Big Deal, and instead a smaller agreement for spending cuts only, is because the Teapublicans refused any revenue (even ending subsidies for Big Oil, etc.). And now Paul Ryan and his ilk are trying to renege on that agreement because they don't want any cuts in defense spending. Yeah, his f@#$ed-up "fix it" plan is to cut programs like Medicaid and food stamps instead of cuts in defense spending -- Imagine that!
I applaud Tom Coburn and other Republicans who have come out against the Norquist pledge because they admit that the debt cannot be reduced with spending cuts alone.
But the day they admit the debt was created by them in the first place with unfunded wars and tax cuts for the rich, and that the economic crisis was caused by them and "free market" deregulation is the day they will have any credibility. Currently the GOP/TP is just a Protest Party that is not interested in governing on behalf of improving the economy.
If the rightwing is sincere about the debt ceiling, they need to stop with the spending cuts in equal amount or more nonsense, and get real. We need REVENUE along with cuts, especially if we don't want to damage the fragile recovery. Why do Teapublicans hate our country so much?
I'd like for Boehner to talk about the "Ryan Plan" and tell us what's in that "Plan" to help create JOBS, because we already know that there is NOTHING in the "Ryan Plan" that promotes job growth. NOTHING.
If Boehner says all those additional Tax Cuts to the wealthiest Americans are part of the Republican JOBS Plan then we know that means Republicans are returning to their already-failed "Trickle Down Economics" that never did "trickle-down".
I'd also love to hear what Republicans claim THEY have been doing to promote job growth over the past 3-1/2 years, other than demand more Tax Cuts to the wealthiest Americans.

I am with you on that revenue thing.. I come off like I am advocating for the Rightwing against the Leftwing.... but in reality I believe they are all bought and paid for at this point and either one will sure enough end in disaster. Isn't that a damn shame? I will agree with you on the point of cuts and revenue but.... the revenue point only has one side... and it's positive! Revenue will without a doubt help the situation. The same can not be said for the Cuts side of the story though. And the cuts that are being put on the table are not real cuts...they are cuts to future spending which is a given at this point, but the real cuts come in current spending programs, and yes unfortunately those cuts will hurt like hell. I still contend that they must be made in order to make a real difference. I personally think we should end the unfunded B.S wars that the last administration blessed us with, bring our men and women in uniform home now... not later. And certainly not in 2014 like was signed by the POTUS a few weeks ago in Afghanistan. I think we should start by stopping the bleeding of our tax dollars to third world countries to improve their life and infrastructure. We could use those BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars to pay our debt and improve life for our citizens and improve our crumbling infrastructure. I am plain sick of hearing about building roads and schools in third world countries that don't give two sh&ts about us anyway. The time has long passed that we need so many active duty bases outside of our borders, we could close those and bring those men and women home as well. We spend billions of dollars in other countries to run those not needed bases. That is real cuts in military spending without degrading our military readiness or flooding our economy with jobless vets. They don't have to cut the size of the military... only restructure it here in our country. Build more bases here in our country... which by the way will create jobs as well in the civilian world. A large base has just as many civilian workers on it as military members. Anyway that's my thoughts on the deal.... and I think there are many more meaningful cuts that can and should be made.....and I also think we agree on more things than either of us realize. We share a common goal, and that is to improve our nation...for our citizens, now we must find common ground to achieve that goal together without the he said she said B.S that has become our political circus of the past few decades.
And on a side note, it was truly wonderful to debate the issues with you.... as it was a true debate of issues and did not result in a "meet me on the playground at 3:00 O'clock mentality" Thank you for your input on the issues at hand. And have a wonderful evening, I look forward to more discussion with you as time passes!
Do you ever have anything else in your quiver but deflection, laced with a "liberal" dose of nasty derision?
Has everyone lost their brain? Obama spent 20 years in Rev Wright's church. Rev Wright has proclaimed that America got what it deserved on 9/11. He as said, " no no no, not god bless America, God damn America". This is the man Obama picked to be his spiritual adviser.
I think it is relevant to Obama's character. A lot more than if Romney gave some kid a Hair cut in high school.
There is nothing racist on pointing out what Obama is really about. He is Black....big deal. You don't get a free pass when you are a radical Anti-American Racist just because you happen to be black!
There's Boehner exhibiting his remarkable leadership skills we all know & love! lol
No matter what happens he will be history as Weeper of the House come January...
He will have something he can really cry about while drowning his sorrows! ;o)
Who do you think coached Boehner? His diverting skills are a bit sharper than before - not much - but a bit!
Boehner never "outright condemns" - Boehner never outright does anything!
Boehner can empathize with Romeny. Both are slaves to the
extremists in their Partyinmates in the asylum. This is not to say either are competent, and probably why they are the "front men," but the Republican Party no longer exists.Look at how the "Christine O'Donnell's and Sharron Angles" are back in the GOP/TP primaries with Richard Mourdock and Deb Fischer, and no doubt there are more to come (as the gift that keeps on giving--let's hope). Really? The rightwing want to elect people who will NEVER compromise because somehow representing a small but loud minority in protest is "representation" of all constituents let alone actual governing? Seriously?
This is what they settled on instead of their "Second Amendment rights" I suppose. The rightwing just can't deal with opposition, differences, ideas other than than own of any kind on any level. They just can't deal with being a minority, being on the wrong side of history time and again, and learning lessons ever. It's like they've been programmed with a 1950s mentality and they can't reboot, and in fact the software has so many bugs in it now they have gone into a fatal hard-drive failure.
Every rightwinger needs to be sent to the corner to sit and reflect on this. Do they really go through life NEVER compromising because supposedly that would jeopardize their 'principles?" How successful are these people? One thing for certain is they don't know sh!t about American history, the founding fathers, and how our system of government and the Constitution/Bill of Rights came about. Gawd such ignorance is annoying but the so-called "principles" are even worse and a topic all by itself.
Boner - the ball-less wonder.
Someone left the cake out in the rain.............
I know! I'm so sad. I loved Donna Summer.
"The face-replacement technology utilized involving the placement of Barack Obama's computer-generated face on the filmed body of a similarly-sized actor is relatively new, not inexpensive, but we feel it will be one of several elements that will insure your film is not mistaken for a typical, political "video". This is much closer in scale and quality to your theatrical productions. While the potential narrator is listed as Jon Voight, perhaps there is someone in the Ricketts film world who would be appropriate? In particular, we should at least discuss this narrator being an African American".
In case you are wondering why Democrats are so incensed...this is just one segment of the proposed strategy for swiftboating President Obama, care of bilionaire Romney supporter Ricketts. Don't you think Americans are just about sick and tired of the Republican attack ad style of campaigning?
amy- Donna Summer died. thats what I was referring to.
A few thoughts here. If politicians were so darn worried about money, they would spend a little more effort on our health care system. I am very lucky, I have decent coverage, and a hubby who works in a hospital, which, if we pay thru payroll deduct, they charge us half price. As it stands now, even with all the good things on our side, with a 40% mortality rate facing me, I and the family are moving heaven and hell to keep Phil from having to declare bankruptcy when the end game comes. So, Mr. Speaker and whoever, spare me all the sanctimonious bs and help everyday folks.
Ah, phine, thanks for reminding us what's important.
Phine - good to see you again .. where have you been. Sounds like perhaps dealing with some personal issues. Good luck to you.
That is the problem Phine. From the actions of the Right leaning politicians and posters, they are only concerned about Wall Street making money (banks now hold more money that before the great crash and corporations are holding trillions in cash on hand), everyone else can apparently go to hell in a handbasket. The leading cause of bankruptcy in this country is still medical care costs, yet the right would have you believe it is welfare queens and irresponsible planners that cause bankruptcy.
Obama attempted health care reform, and notice all you get from the whining and complaining American public and GOP/TP politicians is they don't like it, oh wait, except they love the keeping kids on until 26, oh yeah, and that part about eliminating claims ceilings, oh and that part about pre-existing conditions. Of course they turn all welfare-queen on us when it comes to anteing up, and buying in with the individual mandate. God forbid, they might have to pay for something in return for healthcare reform.
Good luck keeping out of the poor house, and gasp, possibly having to apply for welfare or food stamps. The GOP/TP want to deny those options and will tell you to get off your lazy ass and get a job or start a new business in the middle of coping with a medical crisis.
Palin and her deathcamps are synonymous - but contrary to her pretending that Obama care creates them, it is the GOP/TP belief that if you aren't Romney-rich enough to weather a medical crisis, you should give up and check into one. Nice group, aren't they.
amy don't lash out just because you didn't know Donna had died today. Its ok.
A First Read nothingburger.
Boehner 'refused to comment" , but then they quote him.
"Boehner did not go as far as Romney , refusing to directly renounce the prospective ads."
That is a wild spin...he only answered the question. He didnt 'refuse to denounce"!
"Listen, this election is going to be about the economy," he said. "I don't know what the other people do or why they do it, all I know if the American people vote with their wallets"
And this is somehow spun as support for a Rev Wright ad.
Weak logic. Did you expect Boehner to jump up and down, screaming?
So, did you ask Obama's staff if they 'denounce" stories about what Romney did 50 years ago in prep school. If they didnt 'denounce' the story, they are in favor of personal attacks, right?
Thanks Bob:) and where's bigben?!
Funny I never see the repetitive liberal posters here on the business or world posts. hmmmm....
No jumping up and down or screaming required, Bob. A simple "Yes, I've seen this proposed campaign and it thoroughly disgusts me and in no way reflects the principles and standards of the Republican party" would have been sufficient.
And false equivalency # 421,582 on Obama's staff needing to denounce the Romney prep school stories. Contrary to what you may believe, the Washington Post is not an Obama SuperPAC.
Have you read the entire ad proposal yet, Bob? There was a link on the previous thread. Go back and check it out and tell us if YOU support it or denounce it.
More comments from the poster from the state that hates women and gays. The point of the article is, does Boehner renounce or denounce the ad. From reading the article, it is clear as mud, leaving it open to interpretation. I will side with renounce until Mr. B says otherwise.
TO: GermanGem who wrote:

Obama/Biden 2012
Mr. Weeper, please go away.
"Boehner never outright condemns factions of his party that question the president’s patriotism or birthplace nor does he give them relevance, instead he repeats his mantra: “Where are the jobs?” "
Let's go with that logic.....Obama never "outright condemned" the liberal writer who compared Ann Romney to Hitler and Stalin. Obama obviously agrees that Ann Romney is Hitler!
It seems clear now, the NY Times story was planted by the Obama-friendly Times, so the liberal media can go off on its usual endless spin cycle tirades about "racism" .
Anything but the economy.
Speaking of the economy, has Willard given any plans on what he would do. I heard he has a great plan to cut taxes and add about 3 trillion to the debt.
Wow! What's the weather like on your planet Bob? I suspect its rather dark with a gloomy forecast.
Yes the house has passed job bills, but what they attached as stipulations to the bills, is what caused them to go nowhere. Like an entitlement for Brains Studies $! million, A museum in one of the Rep. state that his wife runs $ 400.000. The GOP will not pass any bill just for jobs, without adding to it. Everybody needs to tell the GOP just pass the bill on JOBS only and leave the rest of things alone. All so tell them to get those economy bills[ without added items] done now. If they don't they won't be done a years from now neither. The only bill that will get passed is tax cuts for the rich. Oh by the way Romney will not be able to kill the health care bill the day he is elected, as the new congress people may not want to work with him and it takes another bill to kill that bill.
Hey tell the POTUS and the Democratically controlled Senate to not ask for a debt ceiling hike without including provisions to lower the debt ceiling... IE... spending cuts. IE.. I know we have to raise the ceiling right now to meet our obligations... and I understand that if we don't stop the endless spending we will continue to have to ask to raise the ceiling.. so lets raise it now to take care of business, but let us also put these......" " in place so we don't have to repeat this process endlessly! Thats a F'N idea don't ya think?
"President Obama warned leaders in Congress that he wouldn't tolerate another "self-inflicted political crisis" associated with the need to raise the nation's debt limit.
Over lunch Wednesday at the White House, Obama cautioned House Speaker John Boehner, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell against another standoff that plagued Washington last summer.
“We're not going to recreate the debt ceiling debacle of last August,” Press Secretary Jay Carney recounted the president saying during his lunch meeting with House and Senate leaders.
Boehner’s office released its own account of the meeting shortly after Carney began the White House daily briefing, saying that the House speaker had asked the president whether he would aim for a debt limit increase that didn’t include any spending cuts, to which the president responded, “Yes.”
According to Boehner’s office, the speaker responded, "As long as I'm around here, I'm not going to allow a debt ceiling increase without doing something serious about the debt."
What a novel idea... Someone actually knows and understands that if you do not have money in the bank.... you cannot keep writing checks.... they tend to bounce!
Maybe the super PAC should use something more damning, like say, the fact that Obama's bio with his former literary agency says he was "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii." I'm not a birther, but I can't help find this intriguing:
edwardkoe12 - why do you post silly lies? Even the far righters know that one has come and gone. Please - you just look moronic! Now, if you want to talk about where Mitt was born.....
Obama/Biden 2012
I think Romney is making a bad mistake to leave Wright's influence on Obama out of the campaign. Obama attended Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years and, more importantly, allowed Wright to shape his daughters' views for their entire lives. Obama was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in 2007 when they bestowed their highest social achievement award upon Louis Farrakhan, the head of the Nation of Islam, racist, and Muslim.
It is an integral part of who Obama is, and should be taken into consideration by voters. After all, can you imagine the DNC campaign ignoring any of Romney's prior affiliations?
Kannin - Wright is soooooo past history. However, we will be getting into current influences on Romney and you definitely are not going to be happy. Just wait, the little Mitt is going to get crushed!
Obama/Biden 2012
Wright is very much part of what Obama is today. Listen to Obama's speeches to find out what he wants you to think; listen to Jeremiah Wright's speeches to find out what Obama thinks.
It is appearing more and more not even Rev Wright may have known the be all of Democrat Barack Obama, as Rev Wright spoke in a recorded interview, "all Obama was about, before Obama/Biden was a Senator that wanted to put his children to bed at night." No. The Rev Wright's preaching stuff, people want us to focus to, is an attempt to dominate into silence, the direct, indirect bribe Democrat Barack Obama circulated to Rev Wright. TXE Harvard Obama days are now being disclosed, things the Rev Wright doesn't give any hint he knows about.

And if you REALLY want to drive yourself crazy, listen to the right wing wackos at one of their Town Hall Meetings! They even scared off the Congressmen/women who had to stop having Town Hall Meetings because the mentality of the crowd was so freightening, not to mention the right wingers who were bringing their guns to the Town Hall Meetings!
Obama/Biden 2012
The Demos ran because they couldn't answer the questions. They could not face the truth, and if a camera caught them with the deer in head lights look it would be politically harmful.
The weeper of the house has nothing to say about Wright. Smart move? He could have said that the issue with Rev. Wright was brought up in the 08 election and did not help the GOP and will help them less now. Weepin' Johnny could have made a statement dismissing the comments that were settled years ago and pivot to issues that really matter but he didn't.
I would like to see a detailed plan other than tax breaks for the wealthy and cuts in safety net programs that will repair the economic problems we have and do so quickly. They seem to want the problem solved over nite so they need to put their money where their mouths are. I will vote for Romney if a viable plan can be proposed by him before the election. Unfortunately he has not clue what to do and cryin' Johnny is scared to death to oppose Norquist and the Koch brothers so we will se nothing out of them. They will raise the debt ceiling as they know how bad it will make them look if we default. They have to play the game. The 113th Congress has accomplished less than any in recent memory (50 years or so)
Has everyone lost their brain? Obama spent 20 years in Rev Wright's church. Rev Wright has proclaimed that America got what it deserved on 9/11. He as said, " no no no, not god bless America, God damn America". This is the man Obama picked to be his spiritual adviser.
I think it is relevant to Obama's character. A lot more than if Romney gave some kid a Hair cut in high school.
There is nothing racist on pointing out what Obama is really about. He is Black....big deal. You don't get a free pass when you are a radical Anti-American Racist just because you happen to be black!
Folks in Chicago are praying for the good old days of Al Capone vice the new Ricketts gang.
