The Super PAC funded by Joe Ricketts has released a statement from the founder of TD Ameritrade that essentially says he won't use Jeremiah Wright as an attack against President Obama.
Joe Ricketts is a registered independent, a fiscal conservative, and an outspoken critic of the Obama Administration, but he is neither the author nor the funder of the so-called “Ricketts Plan” to defeat Mr. Obama that The New York Times wrote about this morning. Not only was this plan merely a proposal - one of several submitted to the Ending Spending Action Fund by third-party vendors - but it reflects an approach to politics that Mr. Ricketts rejects and it was never a plan to be accepted but only a suggestion for a direction to take. Mr. Ricketts intends to work hard to help elect a President this fall who shares his commitment to economic responsibility, but his efforts are and will continue to be focused entirely on questions of fiscal policy, not attacks that seek to divide us socially or culturally.
Although this statement suggests that using Wright "reflects an approach to politics that Mr. Ricketts rejects," it's worth noting that the actual proposal contains this line: "Joe Ricketts said it himself: 'If the nation had seen that [Jeremiah Wright] ad, they'd never have elected Barack Obama.'"

When a Super PAC's advertising plans become public and the candidate's (negative) reaction to them cause that Super PAC to scrap those plans, isn't that collusion between the Super PAC and the candidate?
Furthermore, isn't such a cause-and-effect relationship between a campaign and its supporting super PACs ILLEGAL?
This relationship should be grounds for barring Joe Ricketts and his super PAC from any and all campaign activity up to and including making contributions to other PACs.
We all know the malignant influence the "Citizens United" SCOTUS decision is having upon American politics. It is past time this travesty was undone.

i wonder how much money is being spent by the super Pacs on this election. I say dont tell me your to rich to pay anymore taxes because you are willfully donating money to buy an election. take that money and help a low income family get back on there feet and you would get 3 times as many votes than from a comercial no one want to see. or invest it in a company to get more jobs. dont tell me higher taxes isnt going to create jobs when blantly have extra money for a comercial. its hypocrital to say vote for this guy he'll help you out when your not willing to help people right now

I think it is a bad mistake to leave Wright's influence on Obama out of the campaign. Obama attended Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years and, more importantly, allowed Wright to shape his daughters' views for their entire lives. Obama was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in 2007 when they bestowed their highest social achievement award upon Louis Farrakhan, the head of the Nation of Islam, racist, and Muslim.
It is an integral part of who Obama is, and should be taken into consideration by voters. After all, can you imagine the DNC campaign ignoring any of Romney's prior affiliations?

I do commend you on actually doing a little research on the LDS religion. Usually people spout non-sense or get their info from anit Mormom sites. That is a good quote above but that does not mean mormons do not also live the teachings in the bible. The book of mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and yes it is the same Jesus that the rest of christianity believes in. So while you have tried to take the words of Joseph Smith and twist them to what you want them to mean you need to continue your research and find out what the LDS religion truley believes and same for every other mormon bashing liberal. Bulls**t! The GOP has been saying that to try and suggest that his record is deplorable. Nothing can be further from the truth. But then again, truth and GOP are about as compatible as oil and water.
Obama isn’t perfect but, on the whole, from the economy to foreign relations, he has improved this country’s stance. No President has ever, EVER, posted a perfect record regardless of what the fickle-minded electorate and Bagga buffoons would have us believe. And, failure on some issues is inevitable when the President is buffeted by an obstinate GOP whose sole strategy since 1/20/09 was to frustrate the Obama Presidency at EVERY turn. But the GOP’s focus on undermining Obama and ultimately use those so-called “failures” to regain the presidency have not gone as smoothly as they’d hoped. The economy is nowhere near where it was in 2008; regardless of how often the GOP repeats the mantra about people who’ve stopped looking for work, the FACT remains that the unemployment rate has dropped; the FACT remains that the US auto industry has been brought back from the brink; the FACT remains that Osama and key al-Qaeda figures have been killed; there has been significant legislative accomplishments (albeit not perfect in every instance); we are winding down the full-scaled wars launched by Dubya and opting for more strategic, less costly, effective approaches against our enemies; we have new important treaty agreements in place; and our global stance and respect in the world have improved.
So, Obama will not and should not shy from his record on ANYTHING! His record is light years better than anything that can be conjured up by a bunch of uber right wing, knuckle-dragging neanderthals whose agenda consists of only two things: (1) to resume the failed economic policies that got us in this s**thole in the first place under the guise of deficit reduction; and (2) legislate the vagina and other sexual orifices!
