Ricketts: I'm not going to use Jeremiah Wright

NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro discuss the day's top political news including the possibility that republicans may use President Obama's former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, in ads attacking the president.

The Super PAC funded by Joe Ricketts has released a statement from the founder of TD Ameritrade that essentially says he won't use Jeremiah Wright as an attack against President Obama.

Joe Ricketts is a registered independent, a fiscal conservative, and an outspoken critic of the Obama Administration, but he is neither the author nor the funder of the so-called “Ricketts Plan” to defeat Mr. Obama that The New York Times wrote about this morning. Not only was this plan merely a proposal - one of several submitted to the Ending Spending Action Fund by third-party vendors - but it reflects an approach to politics that Mr. Ricketts rejects and it was never a plan to be accepted but only a suggestion for a direction to take. Mr. Ricketts intends to work hard to help elect a President this fall who shares his commitment to economic responsibility, but his efforts are and will continue to be focused entirely on questions of fiscal policy, not attacks that seek to divide us socially or culturally.

Although this statement suggests that using Wright "reflects an approach to politics that Mr. Ricketts rejects," it's worth noting that the actual proposal contains this line: "Joe Ricketts said it himself: 'If the nation had seen that [Jeremiah Wright] ad, they'd never have elected Barack Obama.'"

Capitalism is the only answer. To expect me to risk time and effort to spawn success, only to have it taken by taxation and redistributed to the malingers, is nonsensical. This thoroughly narcissistic clown in the White House may be Harvard smart, but he is common sense stupid.

Anyone out there think that all of these social programs can endure indefinitely? You too need a lesson in economics.

Obama has so many skeletons in his closet, it is hard to choose which ones to trot out and when. I expect that when the time comes Jeremiah Wright will reappear on televisions across the nation, whether paid for by Ricketts or another group.

Inevitably Obama will find himself moving back to Chicago in February.

Nothing as big as the skeleton in Willard's closet called Mormonism. I weird freaky cult started in America. Read the history of the cult and you will be amazed at how freaky this so-called religion is. Jospeh Smith was a freaking nut!

I think Mr. Ricketts made Rahm mad and now he might have to pay for those Wrigley Field improvements by himself.

The Ricketts Family Trust bought the team and the ballpark. He should have remembered who was mayor of Chicago before he even thought about this sort of ad campaign.

No government handouts....unless I want you to pay for rennovations on the ballpark I own. You've got billions of dollars, Mr Ricketts; pay your own freight.

        Sigh.

You are ever so correct. The guy is trying to have the tax payers put up the money to revamp or build a new stadium, so he thinks it is ok for him to get subsidies but no one else is deserving. It would be wise for some to do a little research and see just how much tax payers money goes to the super wealthy. You might just start with horse racing because today many wealthy individuals will be watching the ponies run at our expense.

We have an individual in town that is worth hundreds of million dollars and his annual federal subsidies almost equals that amount spent of our local safety net programs.

People ned to get their heads out of you know what.

Ricketts in all of his right-wing uncontrollable zeal finally has come to the conclusion due to pressure from campaignr experts, that if he attacks Obama (for being a Christian) which the right-wing have denied, this will open up the door for the Democrats to expose the cultish religion Romney proactices called Mormonism.

Read about Mormonism and its history and you will see if it nothing but a weird cult. aside form their practice of polygamy up until recently, their racsim practiced until recently, their weird founder Joseph Smith who supposedly found metal plates in New York with the Book of Mormon written on them, he and his cult members were thrown out of Ohio, moved out West, posed as Indians and massacered American settlers in the West to take the land, and the stange practices of baptising the dead, weraing weird undergarments, and a host of odd practices that are just out their in la la land.

Come on Rickets! Change your mind and run those ads. We want you to run them!. Just be prepared for an full assault on Willard Romney and his freaky religion.

Read about the Mormon religion, Brigham Young, and the slaughter of emigrants to the West by googling "Mormons, Brigham Young, Massacre"

I've been retired for 15 years. The GOP Plan proposed by Congressman Paul Ryan and endorsed by Mitt Romney will eviscerate Social Security and Medicare. Before I became eligible for Medicare, my wife and I paid $2300 a month for a comprehensive healthcare plan in RI. I wrote a check for $6,900 a quarter. Now our supplemental insurance to our Medicare costs us $2100 a quarter. We also have a long term care plan through Genworth Financial that costs us $3700 a year. We are both healthy for being near 70. We have sufficient funds to return to paying the $2300 a month for our health insurance when Medicare is slowly phased out. The problem is many Americans including Republicans do not have the funds to pay their own way. We live off of the dividends from our investments which are not deposited in some off shore tax haven like the Cayman islands. And our tax rate is more than double that of Mitt Romney.

Somebody will use this against Obama. This is everyone cleaning their side of the street before the fur really starts to fly.

I don't agree with Wright and I wouldn't attend his sermons, but I also know a lot of congregations that do not like their minister but continue to attend their church because of the fellowship and unity of the congregation.

Also can you imagine if there was a white canidate who had a minister who preached the same way with a white slant on things? The black comunity would be up in arms about hate speech and such. I see death threats from the black panthers and all kinds of problems. But the black comunity gets a pass on this one too. Obama knows how to hide behind his skin.

ricketts= lied- the only reason he said he would not use the report - is that someone leaked it to the NYT- if that had not happened it would be everywhere today- they need to get out of Chicago the sooner the better!

Why not use Wright? Why not use that little open mike slip between the then Prez of Russia and Obama? The man Obama is a slimy, immature puppet. He should be outed as such.

                      Dumbo,

Use it all you want, you just move reasonable, educated, informed people over into the Obama camp. LOL

You propose to use the racist card because you have no other REAL criticism of Obama to use. Your pathetic political mental void is visible to all as you call the "LEGALLY" elected President of the United States a puppet! Of course he is a puppet, a puppet to the people of the United States not to some rich, fat, greedy POS like your hero Dubby!

Dont forget, Obama was elected by the People, not selected by the SCOTUS. Obama got bin Laden, Dubby got his daddy's drinking habits.

BYW, I want to see Romney's birth certificate before he goes on the Retardican ticket and wastes all our time and money on a failed candidacy! You have refused to show it because you know he was born in Mexico. We know your little tricks.

Speaking of Mexico, next thing we know, Romney's henchmen will buy the entire country, fire all the unemployed peasants, move the tortilla factories to China, and more Mexicans will be swarming across our border looking for food and water!

                      You trickster!
