Subscribe to RSSRomney campaign manager Matt Rhoades released this statement regarding today's New York Times article, which notes that a conservative Super PAC is considering running anti-Obama ads featuring Rev. Jeremiah Wright:
"Unlike the Obama campaign, Gov. Romney is running a campaign based on jobs and the economy, and we encourage everyone else to do the same. President Obama's team said they would 'kill Romney,' and, just last week, David Axelrod referred to individuals opposing the president as 'contract killers.' It's clear President Obama's team is running a campaign of character assassination. We repudiate any efforts on our side to do so."

The Supreme Court right wing had it in the tank for the corporates/Crossroads, when they passed Citizens United.
It would be a refreshing change of pace to see the candidates using ads that depict what they stand for, but it just isn't happening.
But Romney doesn't seem to want to, or is not capable of engaging in acts of civility or making it clear what he stands for. Maybe it is because he has little to offer. So rather than trying to run on a solid platform, he is doing the only other thing possible; running a smear campaign that is filled with unsubstantiated accusations, lies, and half truths against the president.

I am not a Democrat, not am I 'in-love' with Obama -- but Mitt and his PAC scare me!.
I am an independent who can read and think for myself -- I actually (shock) give both the conservate and liberal "icons' and "talkg heads" a chance to make their case. But the way the right "plays this game'' the last several years has only increasinly proven they can not be taken seriously -- like spoiled rich kids who want all the marbles for themselves(both everyone else should pay for them) and resent anyone who is not them having anything that does not personal benefit themselves Their leading heros/ "characters are Rush, Hannity & Trump and the cranky old man ("get of my lawn" )-- Mark Levin -- who are only concerned with their own personal enrichment agendas. Romney comes from this same group -- but does not speak nearly as well. How can you take any party serious if their main media outlet is AM talk radio and a "news" station that has to remind it audience that it is "fair & balanced" -since that is NOT apparent by actually watching the programing -- half- truths, lies and misinformation -- It is like a one-legged man who has to keep reminding you that he is really the "best dancer" in the room -- or a KKK meeting -- where their grand wizard goes on with his evil nonsense --then stoppped every ten minutes to say "but I am not racist". The President signed into law $1Trillion in spending cuts including non-defense discretionary cuts. The democratic party has been willing to compromise over and over again.
Ryan's budget was embraced/voted up by ALL GOP-ers including Romney. It is far, far from a balanced approach. Ryan's budget would devastate ordinary Americans, while ramping up $3Trillion in tax breaks for the 1%.
GOP/Koch has openly prevented US recovery - starting with the GOP senior meeting in the Caucus Restaurant on Day One of President Obama's term - and they continue to do so whenever and wherever possible.

You may have not liked Obama's solution, but he did attempt to fix the problem. He met personally with Boehner and they agreed in principle to a compromise that combined tax reform with spending cuts. Boehner couldn't get House Republicans to agree to it so it fell apart.

Didn't Romney just give a commencement speech at Liberty University, founded by Jerry Falwell? The same Jerry Falwell who along with Pat Robertson said that God allowed 9-11 because of our "sins" like the ACLU and homosexuality?

How is that any different from what Rev. Wright said? Where is the Republican outrage? Why isn't Sean Hannity covering this daily?

Ann Romney said that she wishes that her and her familys religion does not become and issue in this election. I am sure that Michelle Obama wishes the same for her and her family that where they prayed or pray now does not become an issue in this election. Also, why do many republicans still bring race into this campaign? Shouldn't race and religion be a non starter in this day and time? But I will say this if republicans open up this can of worms some democrats will more than likely go there on Romney's religion. That is the game of politics. Sad to say.

So why is it that you don't seem to dislike the President and/or his OWN comments, yet you vehemently dislike Romney for comments someone else planned to say and he tried to stop?

His grandfather would have done better to forget the hyphenated “crap” and concentrate on the American Experience for young Barack. This type of thinking only widens the racial discord, keeping us forever from coming together as “One nation, one people under God”. According to the Enquirer, Barack was at the tender impressionable age of ten when he first met the family friend. For seven years he had a father son relationship with Davis, who has confessed to having sex with children, sadomasochism, bondage and practicing a wide array of deviant sexual activities. I am not suggesting that any inappropriate relationships existed between Barry and Mr. Davis. You could say that Barry had an interesting childhood.
In his memoirs, Mr. Obama recounts how he visited Mr. Davis on several occasions, apparently at junctures when he was grappling with racial issues, to seek his counsel. At one point in 1979 Mr. Davis described university as “an advanced degree in compromise” that was designed to keep blacks in their place. It appears as if the President's supporters think Romney is accountable for something one or more of his supporters considered saying, despite his (Romney's) repudiation of that strategy - a repudiation that occurred BEFORE the supporter enacted his or her plan.
So, do you Romney-denouncers also view the Presidents with equal or greater vitriol for his OWN words?
If you've forgotten his words, allow me to refresh your memory. In 2010, our President referred to those who disagreed with him as "the enemy" that needed to be "punished". Here's one of countless links to the story.

Again, if Romney is accountable for something someone else planned on saying and he denounced it, how can the President not be accountable for the things that he, himself, said? Why do I not read people on the left expressing their outrage over Obama’s comments? And please tell me it’s something more substantive than (a) the fact that the above examples are old news (that excuse is just lame becase tehre are many more out there); and (b) the fact that you know you’re good-hearted people, just like the President, so your (and his) good ends justify any sort of means. That, folks, is lamer than lame.

Obama and the DNC have to be very careful. Romney has the advantage of using the RNC for a positive campaign and letting the PACs and FOX do the rest. What Obama's forces need to do is demand that Romney not conduct interviews on FOX every time FOX engages in "personal" attacks. Just last night, Hannity was playing his Rev. Wright tapes.
Wm.-375815 - unfortunately, as well educated people know, Fox has no integrity and no amount of "demanding" they do anything will resonate with Fox. They are owned and operated by the far right and in the pockets of people like Bain and Romney. If you watch Fox you're never getting the truth or facts.

Why would anyone want Romney to be their President? As usual, he hides behind spokespeople who do his dirty work for him, keeps the press away by using his campaign staff, all the while attacking the President every time he opens his mouth. And now when his Super Pac starts putting out the word they're going to run racial ads, he hides behind the fact it's not from his campaign. He's just like George W. Just tell him what to do and say, because he has no core. It's all for Mitt and nobody else. It's pretty scary to think some people will vote him into office.
This isn't a big issue for me because Mitt's record has to be defended and his words have to be defended just as the President's words and deeds have to be defended and answered. Let them bring Reverend Wright and watch it back fire!! They know this so this is why he's out ahead of the story!! But if I were asking him a question I would ask him why would he rather bring in foreign workers on visa's from India and Israel to take over 1.25 million enginering jobs instead of paying for job re-training for those American citizens who have lost there jobs in the last 4 years because of the recession????!!! That's a more meaningful and direct question then any religous one but that's my opinion.
