2012: Americans Elect doesn elect (for now)

Romney leads 46%-43% over Obama in the latest CBS/New York Times poll. Last month, the two were tied at 46%. (Note: The poll was a call-back survey.)

Americans Elect didn’t get a candidate. They’ll decide how to proceed Thursday.

Political Wire: Americans Elect, ‘the deep-pocketed nonprofit group that set out to nominate a centrist third-party presidential ticket,’ admitted that its online nominating process had failed, Politico reports.”

“A new USA Today/Gallup Poll finds Americans ‘are increasingly optimistic that things are about to get better for the nation and themselves,’” Political Wire writes. “‘Though an overwhelming 71% rate economic conditions as poor, a 58% majority predict they will be good a year from now.’”

To know Mitt is to not want to vote for him. Right now, many voters have avoided the political news. Those of us who have been watching the Republican primary, however, have come to realize Romney is unlikeable, untrustworthy and really not that bright.

Seeing as how I have no illusions about being invited to dine at the White House or sharing a comfy natter and tea with the first lady....whether I personally like Romney or not really doesn't matter. Can he get Americans working again, able to pay their bills and leave the angst of the past four years behind. Can the American dollar have leverage in the world market again? Can our credit ratings as individuals, and as a nation be restored? Don't have to like the man. Don't have to think he is attractive. And as far as trust goes....who is foolish enough to trust anyone that aspires to high political office any more.

Thanks Amy, I was beginning to think I was the only one to see Romney is as dumb as a box of rocks. Sooner or later he's going to have to come out of his hiding place and talk to the real media, be interviewed by real reporters, give specifics on his policies instead of just generalizing, then everybody will see just how dumb he really is. Although George W Bush got away with hiding from the real media so you never know.

I agree Mo, when the first Presidential Debate between Obama and Romney comes around America will see the true identities of both candidates

Mo, I went to a Romney rally in Portland dring the Republican primary and got to see Mitt in person. Color me: not impressed. One minute he was talking about how we have to cut spending and shrink the government, the next minute he was talking about buying more fighter planes, tanks, ships, space shuttles, and expanding the number of troops we have. All the while, of course, keeping taxes low for those "job creating" 1%. He didn't make any sense, it was just boiler plate Republican talking points and not the least bit logical.

Mo said,

"Although George W Bush got away with hiding from the real media so you never know".

So did Obama, so what's your point??

That's right you don't have one, just liberal talking points!!

Mo - May I point out that this election is between President Obama and Governor Romney. Can you liberals stop with the Bush references and "Move On"?

Bill....may I point out that this election will be between the sitting POTUS.... and a candidate not yet chosen and actually nominated for the position yet! Watch some more MSM and let them blow smoke up a dark place.... I think I'll stick with rest of the breathing public who doesn't buy into the MSM rhetoric and B.S that says it's been over with for months now and has all but pulled out the nomination chair so to speak and labeled it with Mittens name. I personally think it is foolish to count your nominee before he hatches!

The only poll that counts is right before the election. However, President Obama and Romney are pretty close in number and that old margin of error factor comes into play.
I remember how bad Obama and Biden trailed McCain and Palin in 2008.

These numbers look pretty good for the President.

Only trust a Democrat bought and paid for .... They are better more experienced at doing it.

Statistics can be manipulated to prove any point that you wish....."is the glass half full or half empty?" Still half of something, but it depends upon a viewpoint to make the numbers have context.

It's funny how no one talks about the article above. It could be a winning lottery number, but y'all would just use the space below to rant your hate.

        No third party canidate?

There seems to be no center. We are a nation truly divided on principle. No one can come to the center, it would force them to go against their principals and those who voted for them.

Men and Women of courage are those who stand on principle. Some one will win this fight. All will have to live with the result. If it is obama, or if it Romney. One will win and we will have to accept it.

Here's a good example of the Romney campaign's weakness: Their new answer to criticisms of Romney's Bain Capital experience is to say that it was not his job to create jobs but to make money for his investors. What should be the Obama Campaign's response--and the response of everybody else, too, for that matter: That may be the case but is that the kind of person you want in the White House?

Another example: The Romney response to the story about his bullying: That was when he was a kid (well, adolescent). We all make mistakes. What should be our response? Are you kidding me? Bullying is NOT a mistake. It's a character flaw. And it feeds right into the job he did at Bain: from adolescent bullying to financial "bully." Again, Is this the kind of person you want in the White House?!

You know, by law, juvenile records are sealed....An inner city youth, who assaults and hospitalizes another over drugs, or alcohol, or firearms-even as part of a gang....if it happens during their minority, it is sealed and not allowed to be introduced for any inquiry that results in their adult life....Why isn't that same courtesy extended to a Presidential candidate? If we can believe that the former gang banger can make good, become a productive and peaceful member of adult society....it certainly isn't a stretch to believe the same of somebody that engaged in one incident decades ago, and before they were of the age of majority.....If we are going to go back to Jr High, I don't think that anyone could withstand the scrutiny of being completely accepting of diversity, loving, sharing, caring. We all harbor prejudices (different for each of us, but prejudice just the same). We are all guilty of making broad assumptions based upon sketchy facts. We have all engaged in unkind behaviors (Heck, read through these threads every day and see how some of the regulars verbally abuse one another.)

More than 4 million jobs have been added since the economy bottomed.

          Well done President Obama.

With Republicans promising to eliminate the 100% capital equipment tax break that President Obama gave businesses for 2011 and 2012, look for business spending to be very high during the second half as they rush to take advantage. By investing in their businesses in 2012, they will save billions. That will create more jobs this year.

Look for hiring to increase in the coming months and unemployment to drop and businesses have two choices. Hire and increase their profit or don't hire and turn away business to competitors willing to expand.

Equipment is not people with salaries and benefits.
