White House Briefing in Brief: Pushing back on Biden comments

In Monday's briefing, Press Secretary Jay Carney sought to explain that Vice President Joe Biden's comments on same-sex marriage did not mean he endorsed the issue nor was the president planning to change his "evolving" position on it anytime soon. Plus, Carney is asked whether President Obama will ask French president-elect to reconsider withdrawing his troops from Afghanistan by the end of this year.

Vice President Joe Biden's comments on "Meet The Press" that he is "absolutely comfortable" with same sex couples getting married sparked a slew of questions from reporters at Monday's White House press briefing. Press Secretary Carney sought to explain that Biden's comments did not mean he supported the issue, nor did it mean President Obama's "evolving" position on the issue would change any time soon.

While that issue consumed most of the air in the briefing room, Carney also got a few questions on French president-elect Francois Hollande, and whether President Obama would try to convince the new leader not to remove his NATO troops from Afghanistan by the end of this year.

If only the MSM were as rabid in asking some tough questions from Willard...

Then, and only then would I consider the so-called 'news' as being fair & balanced!

The MSM has been salivating all day over this - here's a CLUE - Biden played you like the fools you are!

Take your POUTRAGE and save it for someone who believes your BS!

Joe speaks from his heart - Willard cannot do that since he doesn't possess one!

He said what most Americans in 2012 would say. But, like everything else the right wing loons try dredging up, it's all about nothing.

since marriage is a promise to GOD between a man and a woman why would a same sex couple even consider participating in such an act??

The only reason that comes to mind is to insult the senses of people with traditional values that stand for something.

You either stand for something or you stand for nothing.

Hey old fat guy if god created all on heaven and earth then he also created gay people, scientist have found a gene.

Why would God be against or not want fair treatment for the very people he created?

If you are a christian and if they did the test and found your child was going to be born gay, would you consider abortion or would you accept the child and the way God made him?

Come out of the dark ages. There are things going on beyond your dark ugly pictures you carry in your head of other people.

In the first place, it is really none of your business.

In the second place if someones gay marriage or union can affect your straight marriage, then you got a pretty shaky marriage. I doubt someone elses marriage is your problem.

Time to grow up and accept the reality of life and forget your old hateful pictures you have of people you don't even know old guy.

If God loves and even created gay people who are you to question God?

Fiesty,

I can see why you are upset with the MSM. The progressive's have them on their corner 90% of the time.

You can't really think this was unfair. You can't believe that Romney does not get asked questions that obama ever will.

Americans First,

So you are saying if you are gay you were born with the "Gay Gene" And if you have this "Gay gene" you are Gay, no way around it? That is even more ridiculous than your usual posts. Lots of people are against gay marriage legalization because of the potential fraud. What is to stop a couple of roomies declaring they are a couple to reap tax and other advantages illegally. How could you prove any of it one way or another unless they go through the same marriage along with all the legalities a straight couple goes through. To do that you would have to legalize gay marriage which has already been rejected on the state level in a number of states. Actually in every state so far that has had a vote on it.

President Obama is a "Christian" and as such cannot support Same Sex Marriage as many of us Christians. How many pundits are Christians? How many of you will stand up and say you believe in Same Sex Marriage?

This President has done everything he can to give Same Sex Couples the same rights and benefits as any other American. That is the right thing to do. and he's still trying.

We hear about the Religious Right and when something matters to them everyone fall in line and says it's hurting the Church.

Let me place you on Notice the Republicans are not the only Christians in this country Dems, Independents are as well.

Hopefully we all read from the Same Bible and as such we Christians don't believe in Same Sex Marriage because of Scripture

However, we most of us, Independents and Dems have no problem providing Same Sex Couples with the same rights and priviledges, Civil Rights as any other American

To Keep Bashing our President and attempting to get him to go against his Christian teaching is not right.

When Catholic Church teachings are in question people come out screaming, hopefully since everyone Republicans, Independents and Democrats all have Christians hopefully this is one subject we can all agree on relative to the Scripture

The difference is that many of us actually believe in providing Same Sex Couples with the same liberties as any other American but Republican do not. Republicans fight to keep those rights from Same Sex Couples.

So, President Obama being a Christian is allowed to stand for his religious belief and at the same time do everything in his power to help those obtain the same freedoms, and liberties as any American.

Pundits pushing this issue are attempting to get our President to Violet his Christian teachings, and that's not right.

We don't have to all believe everyting in the same manner, but we must look out for each other as Americans to ensure that liberties are protected and President Obama is doing a great job for Same Sex Couples and they should not require that he violate his Christian teachings which is Scripture. Not one person can deny that this is not the Scripture Christians are taught and is in the Bible.

At least when Romney flipped flopped, he does the full flip. Romney changed his mind on the abortion issue.

On the issue of gay marriage, Obama says he is "evolving" on the issue.

Waffling big time! Won't say whether he is for or against it. Wants it both ways..wants to please the gay community who supports him, while not wanting to lose swing states like Virginia and North Carolina....Waiting for the poll numbers to come in, so he can take a principled moral stand.

A pathetic "half" flip, showing how the calculating Obama will do or say anything to be re-elected.

I think it was your hero Newt who just filed for bankruptcy. Newt couldn't even keep his own company afloat. Of course brought to you by the party that claims they can save our economy because they know what they are doing.

Can't forget Romney his state was 47th out of 50 when he was governor in job growth. Wow that good and he is complaining about President Obama's record.

You talk about trying to slither out between a "rock and a hard place"...?

This is simply amazing to see "Team Obama" at work......at a "how to have your cake and eat it too" exercise.

Everyone knows the VP is a stooge as well as the Education Secretary....they all want jobs for another four and are not about to exercise any "independent thought" anytime soon.

Obama wants to have the Gay vote ....as well as the vote of those who may feel that homosexuality...and Gay marriage is, at best, "inappropriate" and at worst, "disgusting", against family values, and totally decadent....

He figures that if he can convince the non-Gay folks to just "hold their noses" while voting for him...combined with all the fear his party has generated against the Republicans.... he may just make it for another (and now unbridled) four.

Sooner or later, he will have to come out on the side of Gays and the rest of the decandent minority ...as well as the anxious social engineers with the big money...because they are the "core" of his support.

I hope the Dems have gathered whatever "intelligence" they needed through this "exercise" to further plan their campaign....I also would hope that those intelligent members of the electorate who have more issues to base their choices on than just their sexual inclinations, will soundly turn this bunch of "minority bundling" charlatans out of office,

....and will hopefully vote for a majority-centered government..
