WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Making her first appearance on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, Senator Kelly Ayotte, a New Hampshire Republican, said she is more ready to be president than Barack Obama was when he was a sitting senator.
"I have, some would say, better experience than Barack Obama had when he was a senator and ran” for president, Ayotte told David Gregory.
The freshman senator and former attorney general for New Hampshire, Ayotte said having served as the "chief law enforcement officer" of her state and on the Senate Armed Services Committee has given her that experience needed to be president – or perhaps vice president.
New Hampshire's junior senator has been discussed as a potential vice presidential pick for the presumptive Republican nominee, Mitt Romney. Asked whether she would "like to be on the ticket" with Romney in November, Ayotte didn't shut down the idea.
"Well it's an honor to be mentioned in that vein but my focus is on serving New Hampshire and there's so many good candidates out there that Gov. Romney has to choose from," Ayotte said, recalling the names of two fellow senators, as well -- Marco Rubio of Florida and Rob Portman of Ohio. "So he's got a lot of great choices."
Last week, Romney held an event with Ayotte in Portsmouth, N.H. which was viewed by many as a tryout of sorts for the no. 2 spot on the Republican ticket.
Romney campaigns with Ayotte in New Hampshire amid short list speculation
This morning speaking on Decision 2012 roundtable at Meet the Press, Ayotte said Romney must choose a VP with whom he is comfortable, who is ready to serve as president, and who brings to the ticket not only geographical benefits but also knowledge of the issues.

I too live in NH (lived most of my life in Ma) and can only laugh at Ayotte's claims.
She ran on jobs, jobs, jobs along with the other righties who made it into political positions in this state and done n-o-t-h-i-n-g to improve the job story here. All they've done is push their own social issues, agendas and legislation. Just a bad impersonation of the Republicans in DC. Little, mindless people only capable of playing back the big kid's mantra...
This seems to be a common theme for republicans. In Arizona we have a crazy named Jan Brewer and we think she is using Mississippi as a role model.
It is great to see politicians like this Senator step up and tell the truth. What she didn't say, of course, that the country is full of people more qualified to be President than Obama. Heck, I wouldn't vote for someone to be Mayor of our town just because they have more qualifications than Obama, and neither would most of the folks who live here. We are not that stupid. We want our Mayor and other elected officials to actually have the skills and experience needed to run our city government.
Yes, it was stupid for her to say what the rest of the grown ups in the room were thinking...
Since she has done absolutely nothing since elected, how does this make her more qualified than Obama?
There are lots of real issues to bring up with Obama's presidency. He should have kept more of a focus on jobs and the economy. Meaninglessness attacks only dilute the conservative message. If this is all you can bring, there is no reason for independents to trust you with the keys to the car after you ran it into a ditch the last time we let you drive.
QUOTATION OF THE DAY
"I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women and heterosexual men and women marrying one another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties."
JOSEPH R. BIDEN, on NBC's "Meet the Press."
NO MENTION OF REPUBLINO MARRIAGES BEING ENTITLED TO THE SAME EXACT RIGHTS, ALL THE CIVIL RIGHTS, ALL THE CIVIL LIBERTIES. Inbreeding leads to right-wing nut jobs.

One thing about liberals.....they are dependable. We can always depend on one to drive by and take a cheap shot.
The GOP is only playing to their basee. No one else gives a heck about her record. Independents know she is connected to the tea party folks and that is a turn off.
I wonder how their going to convince a bunch of radical Christians to vote for someone who belongs to a cult.
If she has more experience it's not showing up relative her judgement, and the decision she made to support the agenda of her Republican leader ship who said that at all cost their goal is to destroy President Obama. Look no further for experience resulting in bad judgement than Mitch McConnell, John Bonner, Eric Cantor and the Republican controlled House of Representatives.
Remember what experienced McConnell said at the start of the Obama Presidency, and I quote "My number one goal is to see this President fail, to make him a one term President" He didn't say that his job and or his party's goals were to get the country back on track, to get us out of the worst economic collapse since the great depression, the collapse his party caused. He said his goal was to destroy President Obama the rest of the country be damned. Let them suffer if that's what it takes to bring the President down. To me that's experience resulting in bad judgments.
The Senator need look no further than her own party's Presidential candidate for examples of experience and bad judgment. If we had gone alone with the judgement call Mr. Experienced Businessman Romney made relative to the American Auto industry assistance, lets just say it would have not turned out well. Experience, I'll take good judgment anytime!
Terran:
In auto bailout we lost one of the greatest opportunity to move to electric cars. When aging insudstry destroyes it does not destroy talents, entgrepeunerships, managment experience. It would have planted seeds to new kidn of autombiles that would have been more efficient and environmentally friendly.
Finally when they let go transistro tubes audio , video lots of industries were closed and lot sof people lost jobs inclduing those bulky radios. But we moved on and made room for smaller more efficent, pwoerful replacement. I am sorruy we did not gave those companies up, only Japanese who beleived in smaller transistores fianlly forced us to give them up and we lost industry as well as jobs.
We gave up coal power enignes and now use oil/gas powered only. We must allow creative destruction other wise China will monolpolizes more efficient and modern innovative future.
Good grief! Do you have any other Fox parroting left?
Obama is our best President since George Bush. However, we can do a lot better by voting for Mitt Romney.
Independents: Take America back!
Oh, you poor thing.
Anony Mous!, Back from whom?
It is funny how conservatives think that they are the "true" Americans. What they are really saying is take America back from that black man.
I am a minority like you and I don't vote on pure race. There has to be substance. Obama has none of that. Of course you don't want to hear that because it will not jive with your racist point of view.
I am a lifelong democrat. However I am voting for Romney and support him. I like his ability to communicate with opponents in decision making set up. I also feel confident that he will have better grasp on issue relating to economy, jobs. I also think most conservative anti gay and anti abortion issues will be non relevant at Federal level.
In 1988 Obama promised campaign reform, his signature issue during anonouncement of his candidacy. Secondly he said he will get along better withl republican in deciding the issue. Third he has better grasp on healthcare. On all these his signature issues he ahs not done well.
On foreign policy he has done relatively well. So he is comofrtable in decision making where he does not have to concince other side of the issue. He will be benign dictator if we had that system. Our system is adversaria and leader must have that intellectual capacity (not to confuse with absolute intelligence) to induce to negotiate and negotiate with opponenet. This requires giving to them something that is great edeal to them but not to the giver.
Simple example of that would have been Doctor's liability insurance.
Obama also does not have a grasp on what is the core issue to epole. Again on health care it was cost. He presumed it is access. Access increases cost. Cost reduction increases access. His core analytical intelligence failed here.
What I have udnerstood about Romeny, I think he will do better for the challanges that we are facing today and in near future.
Then you are not a "lifelong" Democrat any more. Right?
P.S.>>The real problem with health care is bean counters. I have yet to see a single insurance salesman deliver ANY health care. Yet they skim 20% or more of every health care dollar into their pockets for taking little risk. The US tax payer is already the largest health insurer in the country. The Repukes just won't get it under control. ALL members of Congress have been bought off by the insurance and big pharma outfits. Health insurance companies as the PRIMARY method of paying for and granting access to health care is as obsolete as a buggy whip on a Toyota. Get rid of them!
Yankee:
I agree with you. You are talkign about cost and who skims that. Obama did not address that issue. He increased their business by forocing every body to be insured or pay penalty. He succumbed to Hospital, insurance ,lobbies.
I would have supproted Universal insurance with certain percentage of Payrol going for that as an option for us. He did not bring innovation. He did not reduce cost. He did not bring efficiency to system except to say that it will save in 20 years. I did nto know 20 years ago that China will be superpower. That is red herring. I do nto support these kind of decision.
Killin Osama was fine and I suppor thim. Because it was good decision that wa swell execiuted.
Well, I guess that insurance deal made Peter Lewis very happy and he will donate another 10 million or so to moveon.org to be matched by George Soros.
These Republicans should try out that intervaginal probe they are insisting on. Too much tea for Ms. Ayleotte coyote. Da party doesn't have a clue what's she's up to.
Not interested Ms. Whatsyourname. Just not interested. You're boring. Even more so than Willard if that's possible.
Ah, the "look at me, I'm so vice presidential" card. Youbetcha.
Nola:
Giver her a break and have her day in Sunshine.
Go and buy some flowers today and give to your loved one. Brighter his/her day.
It must be very difficult for her to breath with her head stuck so far up her a__!
You liberals should know. That is how you live your lives.
Does anyone really take this kelly palin seriously? President Obama has a once in a lifetime mind. He excelled to get into Columbia and then Harvard because of his acedemic achievements, not because he was born rich and was able to buy his way into a good school like wishy, washy willard.
Remember bush? He was so stupid he couldn't even get accepted into the university of texas (now that is really being stupid).
For ayotte, this palin wanna be to think she is even in the same species as President Obama is truly laughable...
repubs they are ALL liars, cowards & morons...
ScottWilk
"Thus Romney became one of only fifteen students to enroll at the recently created joint Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration four-year program coordinated between Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School"
"He graduated in 1975 cum laude from the law school, in the top third of that class, and was named a Baker Scholar for graduating in the top five percent of his business school class."
Once again we see how careless liberals are with the truth.
Experience don't mean anything.Im sure Bush would have said he had experience. He left the white house being an experienced disater
Bush looks like a "saint" and extremely capable as a President next to Obama, who is nothing more than a community organizer turned incompetent occupant of the White House. But the "blame Bush strategy" didn't work in 2010 and it will lead to disaster for the Dems if tried again. I understand the dilema for Obama supporters since he has no record to run on. About all that is left is making excuses for him.
Bush forgot the "primary objective", don't F things up.
If you can't do anything right, at least don't do the big stuff wrong, like starting two wars, neither of which had a strategy for winning, on top of giving out tax cuts to billionaires and expanding Medicare benefits.
What was he thinking?
Comparing Bush and Obama is like scraping the bottom of the barrel. Both are inept and incompetent. Both were ushered into office on the pure emotion that the are "likable" and "I can have a beer with him." We tried it 3 times now, 2 times with Bush and once with Obama. What is the result? Economic regress. It is about time we vote for a competent leader and Romney fits the bill. In 4 years, if he doesn't get the job done, we kick him out.
Funny the Democrats constantly claim that the Republican party hates women, yet it is the liberal left wingnut moonbats attacking Senator Ayotte.
Funny, Republican POLICY marginalizes women's issues, hence the gender gap. Comprendez?
NH: Republican women who stay in the Party and vote against women's rights don't deserve the respect of women.
Oh my another Sarah Palin, run Mitt run away. Kelly isn't running for President but maybe VP. Now she has to compare her experience to Joe Biden who is old enough to be her Father and has had 39 years as a US Senator and I don't think she can top that experience. Let's see Kelly was 4 years old when Biden was elected Senator and Barack Obama 12 years old. At lease she is trying but sad to see a women use the VP spot as if she were really running for President. Kelly should have run for President and used that statement.
NH, you really are missing the point, aren't you... Just because Ayotte's a woman you can't attack her (no) record? That's just a silly little spin you're trying to put on it. She's ignored her promises as a Senator. As a Senator she's worthless beyond being just another robot repeating the same old tripe.
Chip, As far as I am concerned she has represented me much better than our Democrat Senator. So continue parroting from the Obama/Soros playbook how Republicans hate women, while vilifying Senator Ayotte - it jut shows what hypocrites liberals are.
Just like Scott above, you liberals prove on a daily basis just how ignorant you are. God help us please if the liberal democrats manage to maintain their power over the country.
facts? you guys are the ones who don't believe in facts, science and anything else provable
Rick the mouth breather. Just say no to FOX.
Obama dropped another point in just one day .... "LOL"
This is great news for hope that America can be saved from Obama and his disasters ....
Monday, May 07, 2012 ....
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows Mitt Romney earning 47% of the vote and President Obama attracting 45% support. Three percent (3%) would vote for a third party candidate, while four percent (4%) are undecided ....
And so early in the race .... "LOL"
Not looking good at all for Obama now .... "LOL"
bigben: Yeah, you voted for Palin, too.
Hey mouth breather The Rasmussen Reports are a joke. That is like watching fox for balanced news.
Ayotte would be a good VP choice for Romney! A couple of losers on the same ticket makes sense to today's Republican Party. I wonder how many votes the Libertarian candidate will bleed off the Republicans.
Your party is full of losers...especially Obama, Biden and Pelosi. Democrats put the biggest losers at the highest possible positions. I wonder if any of those 3 can even balance a checkbook.
Last I checked, Obama was a winner, so was Pelosi and Biden.
You must be thinking of McCain and Palin.
The woman has a point. But, most people are more qualified that Obama was when he was elected. His government experience was a joke....he voted "present" far too often. He had no private sector experience. As Bill Clinton said in 2008...its the biggest fairytale ever or something like that.
Ironic that he's done so well, as compared to Bush who was a CEO, a governor and a National Guard jet pilot (sort of) and who was an abysmal failure.
Done so well???????
Here's a clue... There is NO job that provides someone with the experience to be president in this country. There may be candidates who have expereince in areas of government, but no one walks into that job with the whole package.
It's funny to see the right disparage the President. When asked for examples of failures they resort to silly insults. When asked for their person-of choice's plans or startegies they resort to silly insults.
You see, they're behavoirs are like that of an addict's. They're in severe denial on the right's large piece of ownership of the current situation, they're in denial when someone provides proof of their lies, they're in denial over the actual value/quality of their candidate(s) and they're in denial of the current administration's successes in spite of the right's obstructionist efforts. Someone needs to start up a Republicans Anonymous Group for these folks who cannot see beyond their collective noses. They could hand out tokens everytime one of them tells the truth.
I'm sure you do Sen. Ayotte...You and the rest of the "Do Nothing" Republicans have vast more experience than Obama in a lot of ways … Obama doesn’t have their experience in - crashing the economy, sending jobs overseas, doing nothing to create jobs, cutting taxes for the upper 1% while raising taxes on the other 99%, debt spending proliferation, eliminating programs for middle class and the poor, warmongering, and anything that will line your pockets and the pockets of your crony contributors!!!
Pretty much the only thing you and Obama have in common is that you were each freshman Senators….and you’re still a Senator and Obama is President of the United States! Oh, let me know how that whole austerity thing is going to work out if Mr. Etch-a-sketch in his $1,000 t-shirt (just what do those look like?) is elected or will there suddenly be a complete reversal of thought and the Republicans will start to back spending and stop eliminating Gov’t jobs to get those unemployment figures back in line so they can again slash taxes to the rich and have the rest of us pay for them?
Pretty much the only thing I can trust a Republican to do is screw me!!
kelly, as state ATTORNEY, not police officer, helped financial institutions in her state rob the citizens of upwards of 82 million dollars
She sure does this better than obama....and she isn't cute like palin
