Bachmann hopes to unify party with Romney endorsement

Jim Young / Reuters

Sources close to the Romney campaign said Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is expected to endorse the Republican presidential hopeful at a campaign event on Thursday sources close to the campaign say.

Orlando, Fla. and Pentagon City, Va. – Michele Bachmann will endorse Mitt Romney during a campaign event Thursday in Portsmouth, Virginia, sources within the Romney campaign told NBC News.

The news comes at the tail end of a string of endorsements secured by Romney in recent weeks, following the departure of his chief rival in the race, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

Party leaders, including House Speaker John Boehner, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry – a former fellow candidate – all soon fell in line.

But Bachmann’s endorsement may represent another kind of victory for Romney, who has tried for months to woo support from the same Tea Party Republicans who found a hero in Bachmann last summer, propelling her own brief run for President.

In Bachmann, he has one of their leaders in his corner.

Bachmann’s former campaign manager, Keith Nahigian, insists the endorsement is outside the realm of politics, pointing to a friendship that developed between the two candidates last fall.

“She really liked Romney during all the debates.  Really liked him behind the stage, behind the scenes,” Nahigian said. “He was so polite to her every time they saw each other.”

Nahigian was reached by telephone tonight as he left a fundraiser for Romney at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Pentagon City.

“Ever since she got out of the race, he’s called her,” Nahigian said.

For Bachmann, the endorsement represents the end of a journey from fiery presidential candidate slinging arrows at the establishment to self-described unifier.

“I want my voice to be one of uniting our party, the independents, the mainstream, the conservatives, evangelicals, the Tea Party movement,” she said during a recent appearance on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press.’"

“I’m waiting,” Bachmann said, “for our party to come together and help in that process.”

That moment seems to have arrived.

The mission to unify her party was not always evident during Bachmann’s run, when she made headlines for asserting Romney and another high-soaring candidate at the time, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, were each complicit in laying the groundwork for President Barack Obama’s national health care plan.

Bachmann created a single moniker for the candidates – “Newt Romney” – and during a bus tour in late December warned crowds that neither candidate could mount an attack on the issue.

“It's not going to happen with Mitt Romney,” Bachmann told a crowd inside a diner in Onawa, Iowa, on Dec. 27th

“He put that system into effect in Massachusetts,” she continued, referencing the health care plan he launched as Governor in 2006.

Bachmann dropped out of the race on Jan. 4, a day after finishing last among the candidates competing in the Iowa caucuses.

From my pespective, an endorsement from Ms. Bachman is a negative for Mr. Romney. I thought she was the weakest candidate in the field. I was hoping that Mr. Romney would steer clear of her. In my opinion, her central tendencies are to the right of convervatism - that's alarming.

Say what you want about Bachman, she might have been a weak candidate, but she has very strong ties with the Tea Party. Another group Romney could use to rally around him.

If you read my post, I wasn't suggesting that Bachman should be Romney's VP pick! Just that with her influence she could help him win over a group he has had problems with in the past. That's all I was saying.

Yes dear, but I sure WISH she would become Romney's VP!

Yes but the oddest endorsement of the year came directly from the RNC and Republican Party voters..."We are endorsing Obama for president, by selcting the candidate who could pass for Obama in a dark room"

          Fifty year old manure spreader - $1 ( Washington , D.C. )

          Date: 2012-02-14, 10:21AM EST

Fifty-year old manure spreader. Not sure of brand. Said to have been produced in Kenya . Used for a few years in Indonesia before being smuggled into the US via Hawaii . Of questionable pedigree. Does not appear to have ever been worked very hard. Apparently it was pampered by various owners over the years. It doesn't work very often, but when it does it can really spread the manure and sling it for amazing distances.

I am hoping to retire this manure spreader next November, but I really don't want it hanging around getting in the way. I would prefer a foreign buyer that is willing to relocate this manure spreader out of the country.

I would be willing to trade this manure spreader for a nicely framed copy of the United States Constitution.

          Location: Washington , DC

BEFORE you say...I am not a Republican, I am not a conservative. Just a liberal Democrat who really doesn't like Barack Hussein Obama.

Michael: Correction. A good commander in chief planned the operation. A stupid repuke dunce like Bush or lyin Willardo would not have had a clue as to what to do. They only thinks that they did. I guess lyi8n Willardo would have had the Navy Seals drive thru Pakistan with a dog tied to the roof of their car as a decoy. No one would notice that.

            For: NazalBlow.

I will repeat the post I had before when you spoon fed us your braindead garbage.

NazalBlow. The only manure spreader is Lyin Willardo, the Mexican Mormon Moron tax evader, bankrupter and Etch A Sketch Champion.

He is also the only candidate that was not born here. His daddy named him, appropriately after Willard The Rat, then gave him a second name "Mitt" after a baseball glove. When he was smuggled over here from his birthplace in Tijuana, his father changed the family name to Romney from Romero.

We still need to see the long form of this lying criminal's birth certificate. Maybe his new buddy Fox Top Trump will, ask him for it.

What you need, NazalBlow is another free personal vaginal ultrasound from the Pope's boy Rick the Dick Sanitarium to find out what happened to your missing brain. The first one was ineffective.

Under Reagan and Bush: $3.4 Trillion increase in the debt.

          • Under George W. Bush: $6.1 Trillion.[1]
          • Total: $9.5 Trillion. (without counting interest)
          • But wait, there's interest on that debt ... GO HOME YOU TRICKLED DOWN ECONOMIC REPUBLICAN CONSERVATIVE STEAL FROM THE DIRT POOR AND GIVE TO THE FILTHY RICH 1%ers '' H I P O C R I T !!!!!!!!!

Just like a mortgage, the debt earns interest, and so the Reagan-Bush-I debt grew during the Clinton years. The average debt interest rate in those years was about 6.5%, which would increase it over 50% without compounding, but with compound interest the total debt – including interest – increased by $2.2 trillion.

            • Total Republican debt from above: $9.5 trillion
            • Interest on Reagan-Bush debt under Clinton: $2.2 trillion
            • Interest on $11.7 trillion after G. W. Bush: $0.3 trillion
            • (detailed calculation)
            • Grand Total Reagan-Bushes Debt: $12 trillion (as of Sept. 30, 2010).

If the Republicans had not run up this $12 Trillion debt, we could easily have pulled out of the Great Recession.

Obviously, all the Dems have to do is show clips from the Pubs debates.

Want to know why NOT to elect Mittens? Just ask the Pubs.

Going to be a lot of no-shows among Pubs on election day.

To all of these dunces who think that the last of founding fathers Ron (Puke) Paul is something special. This guy should pack it in, call it a day and find a good nursing home.

Who can be worse than Ron Paul-well possibly Nut Gingerhead the criminal lobbyist and lyin Willardo, the Mexican Mormon Moron tax evader. But Ron Paul is the true crackpot in the repuke clown race.

Ron Paul is a total idiot. Compared to the rest of the radical cracked teanuts running, he may be the worst, except for maybe secessionist gun runner Perry, Nut Gingerhead who lobbied congress to get favorable regulations for Freddie Mac so they could buy phony mortgages and lied to and cheated on 3 wives , Herman 9Kampf Cain the pervert who can't keep his hand from slithering up someones skirt and Willard who changes his story everyday.
Wake up call about Ron Paul. A typical, but even more crazy, right wing radical cracked teanut.
Someone has brainwashed the evangelical "Children of the Corn". Complete nuts like Ron Paul spouts off this nonsense about smaller government. He and the other idiots that think his way, want to eliminate all regulatory agencies, as he feels that the people can do things honestly without being regulated- like the republican criminals stealing from the middle class and the poor.
Don't you right wing braindead idiots know why regulations were created in the first place. It all started with the Great Depression of the 20's and 30's where the criminal republican bankers used depositors money to invest in businesses of their friends which were very risky and the stocks of companies that had false balance sheets that said they were making money while they were losing it. When the market crashed, the depositors lost their money as the banks failed. That is why the SEC was created along with the FDIC, to control republican thieves.
Now this nutcase Paul wants to eliminate FEMA. The republican governors look at Paul as a true nutcase. They are first ones to have their hands out for disaster relief help from FEMA. Even Perry had FEMA and a national contingent of firefighters sent by Obama coming to help with the fires.
As time went on, more agencies like the FDA were created to stop false claims about drugs and other foods being made. Such as Coca Cola being able to cure almost any ailment. The drugs you buy today would probably kill you because there would be no control over ther labeling or their quality.
Now right wing criminals like Mitch McDumbell and Ron Paul want to eliminate the EPA. McDumbell's repuke cronies in KY overlooked over 100 safety violations at a large Massey Coal Mine. The mine exploded killing many miners. The repukes that were bought and paid for by Massey and their boss McDumbell should have been prosecuted. By eliminating the EPA, it makes it easier for Massey and others like them to more easily pollute the air and water, while having extra money saved from non- compliance to donate to McDumbell's campaign.
So when you idiots say you want to take back the government and do what with it? Give it to those repukes who want no controls so they can rob and steal from you as they did in the past.

Massey finally settled all of the death claims for $200 million a few weeks ago. It would only have cost them 4 or 5 million to comply with the EPA regulations.

Time to rise up and vote out the radical right wing cracked teapots and their oil, insurance and defense contractor owners. At least the people saw the light and realized how idiotic "Juiced Up" Sharron Angle and The Flying Witch Christine O'Donnell, Joe Smith from Alaska and several others were and did not vote them in. Hopefully, people saw what the real helicopter gunship pilot Sarah Palin is and will never allow her to hold any public office. The idiots who voted for these nutcases did not learn from Bush Bin Lyin and his criminal gang what the republicans are really about. They outed two CIA agents, who wanted to tell the truth that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.Go see "Fair Game" the documentary that exposes the crackpot criminals you love. Bush Bin Lyin's bosses the oil companies and defense contractors got wealthy as our society was being brought down. These guys destroyed Iraq and then had to rebuild it using tax payer dollars. At least they got Delay. Scooter Libby was the fall guy for the CIA agents outing. Don't forget the criminal gang's trickle down economics where the money trickled down into their bosses pockets instead of creating jobs. That is why we were losing over 700,000 jobs a month before Obama took over.
I guess we will have to set up our own militia to deal with Michelle (never tells the truth) Bachmann and her "armed and dangerous" followers"

I can recall when the GOP was clever...not ruthless. When they were united...not divided. When they wanted to see a stronger America; not two different countries and now...it is so sad to see their demise. The competition was revved up and the rhetoric was sharply honed but both Party's respected one another in past elections. In the end, we found room to disagree. Michele Bachmann is ruthless, you can see it in her eyes. So her ringing endorsement of Rumney was puffed with false excitement and; her commitment to show support was very empty and fragile! More hot coffee please?

I think the GOP brand was seriously damaged throughout the caucuses because they each wanted to win a bit too much; they sliced one another to pieces. I have never seen this much money invested in the run for presidency and I have never seen each campaign become so reckless in the attempt. I am a DePubliCant, so for me there will be no clear winner; the Truth, is my president...but come next election, I wish with all my might that dignity will have returned by then if I am here to witness it.

Unify, what a joke. Unify a a part of our government that only represents less then 25% of this country. What could the GOP do to find jobs for people ? Get them a realty show on TV where the money is to be made. Try to Bullshi+ as many voters as she can before elections. Obama will win hands down because there is no other party to contend with that truly can represent this countries interest & not the Republicans self interest.

Thee American Dream went out the window with the GOP. They threw themselves right out of politics we used to have as a unified country. Bachman is not the one to unify the GOP & neither was any of the others. This is a totally different GOP all out for them selves. Rotten foreign policy along with economics was not Bush's forte. We cannot trust what we all read or view on TV land FOX, especially. Hollywood doesn't even want anything to do with the GOP & a lot of them are rich. It's the telling lies after lies to voters. Trickle down economics was & is a bunch of BS, the GOP is trying to put more money into their pockets with the richest CEO's of the Health Care Industry & Wall Street their employers.
