Bachmann hopes to unify party with Romney endorsement

Jim Young / Reuters

Sources close to the Romney campaign said Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is expected to endorse the Republican presidential hopeful at a campaign event on Thursday sources close to the campaign say.

Orlando, Fla. and Pentagon City, Va. – Michele Bachmann will endorse Mitt Romney during a campaign event Thursday in Portsmouth, Virginia, sources within the Romney campaign told NBC News.

The news comes at the tail end of a string of endorsements secured by Romney in recent weeks, following the departure of his chief rival in the race, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

Party leaders, including House Speaker John Boehner, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry – a former fellow candidate – all soon fell in line.

But Bachmann’s endorsement may represent another kind of victory for Romney, who has tried for months to woo support from the same Tea Party Republicans who found a hero in Bachmann last summer, propelling her own brief run for President.

In Bachmann, he has one of their leaders in his corner.

Bachmann’s former campaign manager, Keith Nahigian, insists the endorsement is outside the realm of politics, pointing to a friendship that developed between the two candidates last fall.

“She really liked Romney during all the debates.  Really liked him behind the stage, behind the scenes,” Nahigian said. “He was so polite to her every time they saw each other.”

Nahigian was reached by telephone tonight as he left a fundraiser for Romney at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Pentagon City.

“Ever since she got out of the race, he’s called her,” Nahigian said.

For Bachmann, the endorsement represents the end of a journey from fiery presidential candidate slinging arrows at the establishment to self-described unifier.

“I want my voice to be one of uniting our party, the independents, the mainstream, the conservatives, evangelicals, the Tea Party movement,” she said during a recent appearance on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press.’"

“I’m waiting,” Bachmann said, “for our party to come together and help in that process.”

That moment seems to have arrived.

The mission to unify her party was not always evident during Bachmann’s run, when she made headlines for asserting Romney and another high-soaring candidate at the time, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, were each complicit in laying the groundwork for President Barack Obama’s national health care plan.

Bachmann created a single moniker for the candidates – “Newt Romney” – and during a bus tour in late December warned crowds that neither candidate could mount an attack on the issue.

“It's not going to happen with Mitt Romney,” Bachmann told a crowd inside a diner in Onawa, Iowa, on Dec. 27th

“He put that system into effect in Massachusetts,” she continued, referencing the health care plan he launched as Governor in 2006.

Bachmann dropped out of the race on Jan. 4, a day after finishing last among the candidates competing in the Iowa caucuses.

My party affiliation doesn't matter. Bachmann cannot unite the party, not by herself. She thinks too highly of herself. It doesn't really matter, anyway. Mitt Romney has only a small chance of winning. The president's poll numbers are at 65%. Wall Street has thrown away a lot of money by backing Romney.

Romney can't even unite his party ---- They all still hold their noses when he's around

Gallup Daily Poll ---- Obama leads Romney 49% to 46%

Here is how Michelle (never tells the truth) Bachmann and Lyin Willardo, the Mexican Mormon Moron tax evader, bankrupter and Etch A Sketch champion can team up with the rest of repuke nuts and help attack our enemies.

Along with Sister Sarah, the great American Zero, they can help us invade Afganistan and attack the Taliban. She can be part of the invasion force.

We have to attack the radical Islamists before it is too late, without putting our soldiers in harms way.

The best way is to send the right wing radical cracked teanuts over there to fight. First let Sister Sara attack from the front in her helicopter gunship where she is experienced in shooting wolves from the air with her blazing AK47, turns them into instant wolfburgers. Then get the other dunce, the flying witch from Delaware, Christine O Donnell. to attack their flanks using her rocket powered, heavily armed broomstick. Then the macho nut Rick Sanitarium can get his boss, the Pope's boys, the rapist, pedophile catholic priests to attack from the rear. John (town cryer) Bonehead and Mitch McDumbell can direct operations. Groper Nutquist could be the sniper, as all he has to do is lift the lid from his trash can and fire away.

Harold Camping, the evangelical king, can assist by getting the 500,000 or so braindead evangelical Children of the Corn, that he brainwashed to give up all of their worldly possessions to go meet and stay with the man in the sky. These zombies would not care if they died because they would finally get to meet and stay with the man in the sky. Camping can supply them with bibles to throw at the Islamists with some of the millions he bilked these fools out of.

If they still need more help, we can recruit the right wing centrists: the abortion clinic bombers, federal building bombers, abortion doctor killers and the radical right wing southern anthrax spreaders. With this army of right wing nuts and Jesus Freaks, we save our real army for another day.

Ron (Puke) Paul can preach liberty to the Islamics and Muslims who he loves. Maybe lyin Willardo, the Mexican Mormon Moron tax evader can get some of his buddies that he grew up with in Tijuana to volunteer to help also.

Any prisoners that are taken can be sent to Nut Gingerheads 2 trillion dollar moon colony on an unihabitable planet. There is no atmosphere there, so no oxygen and only traces of water. It is hotter than boiling water there during the day and it goes down to 160 degrees below zero at night. In fact, it so nice there, that we should also send the 4 clowns that are running for the repuke nomination there also. Ron (Puke) Paul can preach liberty to the men in the moon, lyin Willardo can establish an off planet moon bank to hide his money, Nut Gingerhead can destroy the moon peoples housing market, and the Pope's boy, Sanitarium can try to find work for his base, the rapist, pedophile catholic priests and braindead evangelical Children of the Corn.

If the right wing cracked teanuts want to beat Obama they need new candidates. Cain/Sandusky in 2012. These two are their best family values candidates. .Who cares what they did in the past, they are against abortion, that is all that counts to these nuts.

If Wall Street just wizens up, it would realize that the president's platform is pro-business and pro-economy. Then, the campaign wouldn't be so nasty. By taking advantage of the Supreme Courts ruling on campaign financing by super pacs, it will demonstrate, over time that it was a irresponisble decision, leaving the possibility of court reversing its stance in the future. Ha, you say? I've been around long enough to witness such ups and downs in the Supreme Court. I think it will happen. Just give it time and allow the super pacs to continue their course. You will see.

Wall Street wising up? Don't count on it

They are still engaged in the same practices as before

They want Romney & more Bail Outs.. And end to the financial market regulation

5 of our largest banks control 57% of the wealth in our nation.... They support Romney's deregulation

They say that history repeats itself, but not always the same way? -- This is a case when Wall Street & Romney repeat history exactly the same way

Isn't a Bachmann endorsement equal to Stalin saying "you're an alright" person?

It is amazing how the GOP ran out the most electable, Huntsman, and ignores Ron Paul but fawns over the likes of Bachmann, Santorum, and Palin. Is there is a reason that the dimmest, dullest, and dastardly are celebrated?

Holub--Do you really think the "Czar issue" is going to gain traction? Most people have a frontal cortex that allows them to remember that so-called Czars have been around for a very long time, at least fifty years, and that includes the administrations of Reagan and GW Bush. If you interested in the truth, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czar_(political_term).

They used to be cruel and unjust, but that was who they were, certainly not people anyone would invite into their homes for dinner. Well, with these idiots Bush was just the start of a strange new breed of humans..."the truly stupid"!!

Oh how cute, wacky Michele B. has a crush on Mitt-Witt. I'm sure with her endorsement, he's got the election in the bag as her MILLIONS and MILLIONS followers fall into line behind him. LOL. I'm sure all our favorite "talking head" needs is to make out with MB at the convention and he'll have that presidency all sowed up.

Are Republicans learning anything from this? --- Has Hell frozen over?

Bushonomics 1.0 didn't work & now they want Bushonomics 2.0 on Steroids

An end to financial industry reform to repeat the 2007 economic collapse & more Bail Outs

A return to Middle East Wars & Cold War Policies --- Totally hidden & closed government,, Citizens United --- "THE CORPORATION IS THE PEOPLE"

Domestic policies that set our nation back to fighting for voting rights & women's rights with bridges falling down & highways not repaired

A Republican trade policy that sends our jobs right back to China

An attack against their own free market ideas of expanding health care

Nope, Backwards into the 1930's is not the direction to lead our nation in the 21st century
