Bachmann hopes to unify party with Romney endorsement

Jim Young / Reuters

Sources close to the Romney campaign said Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is expected to endorse the Republican presidential hopeful at a campaign event on Thursday sources close to the campaign say.

Orlando, Fla. and Pentagon City, Va. – Michele Bachmann will endorse Mitt Romney during a campaign event Thursday in Portsmouth, Virginia, sources within the Romney campaign told NBC News.

The news comes at the tail end of a string of endorsements secured by Romney in recent weeks, following the departure of his chief rival in the race, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

Party leaders, including House Speaker John Boehner, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry – a former fellow candidate – all soon fell in line.

But Bachmann’s endorsement may represent another kind of victory for Romney, who has tried for months to woo support from the same Tea Party Republicans who found a hero in Bachmann last summer, propelling her own brief run for President.

In Bachmann, he has one of their leaders in his corner.

Bachmann’s former campaign manager, Keith Nahigian, insists the endorsement is outside the realm of politics, pointing to a friendship that developed between the two candidates last fall.

“She really liked Romney during all the debates.  Really liked him behind the stage, behind the scenes,” Nahigian said. “He was so polite to her every time they saw each other.”

Nahigian was reached by telephone tonight as he left a fundraiser for Romney at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Pentagon City.

“Ever since she got out of the race, he’s called her,” Nahigian said.

For Bachmann, the endorsement represents the end of a journey from fiery presidential candidate slinging arrows at the establishment to self-described unifier.

“I want my voice to be one of uniting our party, the independents, the mainstream, the conservatives, evangelicals, the Tea Party movement,” she said during a recent appearance on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press.’"

“I’m waiting,” Bachmann said, “for our party to come together and help in that process.”

That moment seems to have arrived.

The mission to unify her party was not always evident during Bachmann’s run, when she made headlines for asserting Romney and another high-soaring candidate at the time, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, were each complicit in laying the groundwork for President Barack Obama’s national health care plan.

Bachmann created a single moniker for the candidates – “Newt Romney” – and during a bus tour in late December warned crowds that neither candidate could mount an attack on the issue.

“It's not going to happen with Mitt Romney,” Bachmann told a crowd inside a diner in Onawa, Iowa, on Dec. 27th

“He put that system into effect in Massachusetts,” she continued, referencing the health care plan he launched as Governor in 2006.

Bachmann dropped out of the race on Jan. 4, a day after finishing last among the candidates competing in the Iowa caucuses.

Willard, willard, willard. With all the money that you have, the need to be president is what? You can help to shrink goverment by staying out of it. Help cut the regulation on WS by investing in the people of this country, not the corporation type people that you have been taught to believe in (those are not people but only their ideas). Pray for wisdom Willard you have enough money to do right by the GOP and Dems also.

99% of the conservative Obama bashing turncoats are frantically cracking the whip as they ride out of dodge when it comes to defending Bachmann on this blog site. Right at this moment, many are grinding their teeth and wringing their hands in silence. Embarrassment has never been so pervasive as no one will dare offer a word of support for Bachmann right now. No since going down with the ship.

Actually most answers are SIMPLE. Collusion, bribery, extortion and tax evasion have never been more rampant. Heck we give trillions in bailout money so the unions and corporations have taxpayer money so they can "lobby' for more corruption. We have one party in this country with two heads. Everything flows to the same people regardless of party control.

BOTH party's try to make them complex so they don't have to give the real reasons like:

We can't tell the people that because they will get pissed and not vote for us.

We can't fix that because the Federal Reserve will get pissed off.

We can't cut that because the military contractors will get pissed off.

We can't do it that way because the oil lobby will get pissed off.

If we eliminate that spending we will lose Federal jobs.

We can't write the bill that way because our lobby's write the bills.

We have to keep that because it creates debt the FED profits from.

Those regulations are there because they shift the industry profits to our lobby.

If we remove those regulations it would free the market and our lobby would lose control.

This is the kind of crap that goes on every day and everyone knows it. Have you ever heard a politician say any of them even one time??? NOPE.... It is all theater with the "complexity crap". They want things to appear complex so the average person does not try to understand them and see the simple greed and corruption in their answers.

The Bachmann story. A brief look at what Michelle (never tells the truth) Bachmann is all about.

This is why a normal person would never vote for a right wing radical cracked teanut.

To answer the questions that most people ask about what are the Bachmann's doing wrong by using public funds to allegedly treat mentally deficient people, like themselves. They are essentially pocketing the money by reading them some passages from the bible. These are two really crazy people.
Here is the answer. They don't help anyone. They just try to brainwash them with fairytale stories of biblical fantasies. Here is a story about the Bachmann's from a Minnesota newspaper:

"Bachmann and Associates, Inc., a counseling center that receives state funds and is owned by Rep. Michele Bachmann and her husband, Dr. Marcus Bachmann, uses counseling methods steeped in fundamentalist Christianity, raising questions about its use of taxpayer money.
Founded in 2003, Bachmann's clinic has taken in nearly $30,000 in state funds and $170,000 in federal money since 2007. Dr. Bachmann has said publicly that God heals people at his clinic and that Jesus Christ is the "Almighty Counselor."

"We are distinctly a Christian counseling agency here in the Twin Cities," he told KKMS radio in 2008. "We have 27 Christian counselors, Christ-centered, very strong in our understanding of who the Almighty Counselor is, and as we rely on God's word and the Almighty Counselor, we have the opportunity to change people's lives."
He continued, "God heals people and if we give opportunity, if we are a willing vessel and we go according to what God's word is, it works."
When people get out her clinic, they are probably worse off than they went in. They probably become the Christian nutcases that think that they see images of Jesus in the shape of vines on telephone poles or images of Jesus in the grain of their bedroom door or images of Mary in the bottom of frying pans or in puddles of water or statues of Mary crying blood.

Once the people come out of her clinic, they really need to go for psychiatric treatment.

This isn't an endorsement. It's a Tea Party concession speech.

The Wall Street shysters and super-rich aristocrats have shoved the naive upstart Tea Party crowd back where they came from saying, "This is OUR GOP....don't forget it."

Anyone notice how Ron Paul has won the majority of delegates in Maine, Iowa, Louisiana, Nevada, will probably pick up Oklahoma, Kansas and most of Santorum's old stomping grounds - and the main stream media says nothing.

All told RP mus have around 300 'REAL' delegates heading for Tampa - all ready to vote for RP.

The Main Stream media wants you to believe that its all over.

BTW, do you even know anything about the REAL delegates Ron Paul has amassed and that have their tickets to Tampa .... no, I guess not!

ROFL!!!! WOW!!! Romney gets "Gods" endorsement!!!!

Lets take a look at the woman who openly said she wants to turn the US into a Christian theocracy. This is a woman who is so open and honest that she was photographed duck squatting behind some bushes at a gay rally and then LIES about it saying she was just resting. You can see her SUV and bodyguard right next to her. This is the woman who cries about government handouts when her own family is taking with both hands wrapped around a snow shovel. Her husbands fake "clinic" (which performs unlicensed "therapy" using techniques decried by the entire psychological community as bull@!$%#) and her families farm holdings rake in subsidies. The woman who cannot make a single decision in her life without her imaginary friends endorsement.

I really dont think her endorsement is something to brag about.
