Sources close to the Romney campaign said Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is expected to endorse the Republican presidential hopeful at a campaign event on Thursday sources close to the campaign say.
Orlando, Fla. and Pentagon City, Va. – Michele Bachmann will endorse Mitt Romney during a campaign event Thursday in Portsmouth, Virginia, sources within the Romney campaign told NBC News.
The news comes at the tail end of a string of endorsements secured by Romney in recent weeks, following the departure of his chief rival in the race, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.
Party leaders, including House Speaker John Boehner, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry – a former fellow candidate – all soon fell in line.
But Bachmann’s endorsement may represent another kind of victory for Romney, who has tried for months to woo support from the same Tea Party Republicans who found a hero in Bachmann last summer, propelling her own brief run for President.
In Bachmann, he has one of their leaders in his corner.
Bachmann’s former campaign manager, Keith Nahigian, insists the endorsement is outside the realm of politics, pointing to a friendship that developed between the two candidates last fall.
“She really liked Romney during all the debates. Really liked him behind the stage, behind the scenes,” Nahigian said. “He was so polite to her every time they saw each other.”
Nahigian was reached by telephone tonight as he left a fundraiser for Romney at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Pentagon City.
“Ever since she got out of the race, he’s called her,” Nahigian said.
For Bachmann, the endorsement represents the end of a journey from fiery presidential candidate slinging arrows at the establishment to self-described unifier.
“I want my voice to be one of uniting our party, the independents, the mainstream, the conservatives, evangelicals, the Tea Party movement,” she said during a recent appearance on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press.’"
“I’m waiting,” Bachmann said, “for our party to come together and help in that process.”
That moment seems to have arrived.
The mission to unify her party was not always evident during Bachmann’s run, when she made headlines for asserting Romney and another high-soaring candidate at the time, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, were each complicit in laying the groundwork for President Barack Obama’s national health care plan.
Bachmann created a single moniker for the candidates – “Newt Romney” – and during a bus tour in late December warned crowds that neither candidate could mount an attack on the issue.
“It's not going to happen with Mitt Romney,” Bachmann told a crowd inside a diner in Onawa, Iowa, on Dec. 27th.
“He put that system into effect in Massachusetts,” she continued, referencing the health care plan he launched as Governor in 2006.
Bachmann dropped out of the race on Jan. 4, a day after finishing last among the candidates competing in the Iowa caucuses.

In my opinion, voting for someone you don't believe in because you think they have a better chance of winning, rather than voting for someone you do believe in based on principle is throwing your vote away.
I can at least in good conscience say I voted for someone I believed in this year.
That is a really good point RealityChck, but, I cannot vote for Romney no matter what. People can spew all of the lies that they want about Obama. He was basically handed the worst possible set of circumstances that any U.S. President has had to step into, when he took office, essentially since the Great Depression. I am so amazed at how blind the partisan republicans are towards Bush, he and Cheney and their policies, almost brought America completely down. Obama has done remarkably well all things considered. As I stated, I would much rather have Obama for four more years, than risk the likes of Romney and his ilk running the show. So, to that end, my vote will not be wasted. Ron Paul will not be on the ticket, therefore, I cannot vote for him. I hope that clears that up for you. I voted for Obama in the last election, so my conscience is good.

I take it you don't read the news or follow Obama on a regular basis.
Bachmann, unify? Hah! She's done more to splinter the GOP than any other politician. Her Tea Party crud has destroyed any credibility that the GOP had. In her (almost) home state of Minnesota the Republicans haven't paid their rent in full for over a year on their own headquarters. They can't find any revenue to address their spending problems. That's how bad it's become for the Republicans after the Tea Party (led by people like Bachmann) took over.
All she's doing is looking for publicity. She's got about as much enthusiasm for endorsing Romney as she has for submitting bills (1 light bulb so far) or even voting in Congress (bottom of the list). This is just another stunt from crazy eyes Bachmann to get her name in the paper more than Palin.
Really, her effort was less of a brief run than it was, say.....like a crash test to prove that driving the country without any seat belts or other on-board protection is a good plan....of course this starts with her and several other crash test dummies in the passenger part of the car, (or bus since there were so many), but tragically and yet again, after primal impact, they must all still end up spread out all over the windshield; the hood of the car; the thing they hit; the road surface; each other; and anyplace else in the impact area in little, viscous, sloppy pieces....proving again, and again, and again that you can not trust anyone with the safety and well being of this country if they are in the business of running the ambulances and emergency rooms, so don't put special interests in charge of protecting us from them, (sorry for the broad metaphor, it's really early here)!

Item #1-I tend to think that those who followed/supported Bachman have long since realized that they needed to look elsewhere among the candidates, particularly as she dropped out of the race.....to continue to support her would be a waste of vote. So making the grand gesture is a bit too little too late.
Item#2 I think we should all agree that 99% of what all politicians say is a lie given that they are trying to please all of the people, all of the time, during an election year. Doesn't really matter about party affiliation, at this point. It is all about insuring that they get to continue on in their chosen occupation complete with all the perks.
Even with Bachmann's special unifying endorsement of Romney, he will not win MN, and not win the election.
I am sure Bachmann will get a nice campaign contribution form Romney and friends....

The Fed Reserve declared social security insolvent and all money going in is being paid out. Clinton cut the lock off the social security(both sides). There is no money in social security now it was used not on peoples retirement but to balance the budget. It is my understanding, this can be checked out at the Office of Management and Budget web site, that social security is held in bonds and based on the.... get this "Full Faith Credit" of US Bonds these are not my words.

If you etch-a-sketch Mitt, you'll see Tea Party talk first time, then President Obama talk the second.
Romney: the Obama wanabe. Romney has to ride the coat-tails of President Obama's success as a strategy for winning. Mitt, the me too candidate.
This is important because if there are any gay people left on Romney's staff, Michelle's husband can convert them to straight so Romney won't have to fire them. He does enjoy firing people who work for him though.
