This guy's no Dale Peterson

This is Roland Sledge, running for Texas Railroad commissioner. He tries to go all Dale Peterson. It's the first extreme ad of this campaign, but don't expect it to be the last. This one depicts someone peeing on an electric fence.

"Isn't it about time we elected political leaders, that have sense enough not to pee on electric fences?"

That's a reference to what he says is a Will Rogers quote about politicians needing to learn from mistakes before they change.

What's with politicians invoking urination? The ad reminds of the ad run in 2008 in Kansas by Democrat Jim Slattery, who was running against incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts (R), that featured a giant man in a suit spraying a nozzle of gasoline on people. But it's not clear until you see the nozzle that it's gasoline.

Ummm...

I think it goes back to Reagan & his fascination with 'trickle down'...

I guess you are just saying there aren't any rich old white dudes in the democrat party willing to piss all over everyone they disagree with. So what is it dumbfux? No rich democrats, or no democrats willing to piss all over those they don't agree with?

Not to try and cause an argument Feisty, but because you're an unapologetic Liberal (nothing wrong with that) it's just assumed you mean Republicans only. Now that's just my opinion and you know how that saying goes.

Now if someone like myself and or let's say Egilman (haven't seen him in a while) said it it would more than likely be taken the way you meant it.

If someone like Brian or No Joe said it y'all on the left would be well basically what Brian said because they're well known to be unapologetic republicans(nothing wrong with that either)

But now on to my actual point being a Texan why is this msnbc news? This douche bag will not be voted in. Just sayin ;)

    No problemo!

This issue I have is Brian is belly-aching day in and out about my supposed unwarrented attacks, yet, he turns around & does the same thing without even bothering to read either the article or my response!

    ASS U ME?

    lol

I actually like Brianb a lot, and yes I get my kicks watchin y'all go after eachother, especially in an election year. But y'all know my politics so watching two sides of the same coin trying to convince the other of who's right and who's wrong is highly enjoyable. The best part is y'all are BOTH right (erm correct?)

I like that President Obama is beating the war drums (for the most part) I won't vote for him of course, just like I wouldn't vote for President Bush. My favorite thing in the world is when I say something against President Obama I'm usually met with well your boy Bush, cause then I can come back with I didn't vote for Bush, either time, now what?

Now let me get back on topic.... I really only see one person who posts here whose attacks are truly unwarranted and I've already called him/her out on it, only to be attacked for it amusingly. Y'all give eachother hell that's for sure, but both sides give as good as they take. Hell you and I have gone at it more than once, I don't like you any less for it, I like a good debate.

      #1.11 - Wed May 2, 2012 1:09 PM EDT

If I remember correctly from high school, debating was never allowed to cross into name calling, cursing, or vulgar asides.....it had to remain focussed on the topic at hand. In that, we seem to be sadly missing.

I'll never again see Tom Delay's name without thinking of his appearance on The Daily Show when he was a Tea Party spokesman. He brought a cowboy hat as a present for Jon Stewart. At the end of the interview Stewart said "He didn't bring any cattle, but this is a mighty big hat!"

Poor schmuck didn't even realize he'd been the target of a classic slam...and one that originates in Texas no less.

Funny, though- last fall, you guys were swooning over their "movement"- even when that entailed "movements" on police cars.

I have no problem with the lighter side, but I do question the editorial decisions that always, conveniently, leave any story that hurst democrats off the page.

Why no story on Warren's latest issue- where she used an imagined heritage to unfair advantage? Somehow, I'm certain that if it were, say, Brown claiming to be Native Amerocan to grab an extra advantage to which he were not entitled, there would have been multiple columns on it.

I'm certain that had five TEA Party members planned on blowing up a bridge there would have been a column on it- probably many.

If you really wanted to cover the "lighter side", you'd have written about Obama's canine tooth- the one he sticks into hapless pooches. There were plenty of sites than ran stuff on that -that left me crying with laughter.

Sorry if I interrupted your "all republicans are nitwits" narrative with some unpleasant news.

Not so sorry that I won't do it again, but thanks for reading.

      No Joe,

It reminds me of Oklahoma City only this time the Feds were ahead of the anarchists. These groups infiltrate ragtag organizations to obtain sympathizers, information, ideas and perhaps help.

Beyond that everything else at this time is speculation. Maybe the Feds that helped them encouraged then to be part of the occupy movement. After all, the Feds started tracking them before the occupy movement even started anywhere.

By the way Domenico...I can't link to it, but to me, the greatest ad of all time is the "Sideshow Bob for Mayor" ad. All funny ads should be held to that standard! ;-)

      Transcript:

Historically, cartoons and ads involving political content have often strayed into the forbidden topical realms, relative to the times. Nothing new to double entendre or potty humor in political cartoons going all the way back to Tamany Hall.

It drives me bat@!$%# considering if we ever DID secede we would do fine, I hate that people hate on us because of our elected officials, it's only shown me that I'm now allowed to hate on everyone else's states because of who they elect not because of the people themselves, which means us Texans never have to help anyone again, so when Louisiana and the like are ready to take their Katrina "victims" back they should do so immediately etc...
