President Obama has made an unannounced trip to Afghanistan, according to a White House pool report. He will also address the nation at 7:30 pm ET.
AP notes that Obama will "sign an agreement cementing the U.S. role in the country after the war ends in 2014. Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai are to approve the agreement before Obama gives a speech on the war effort for a TV audience back in the United States."

NBC's Kristen Welker reports that Obama will detail how the relationship between the United States and Afghanistan will be normalized after 2014 when the U.S. will pull out of the country. This trip, Welker reports, was 20 months in the making.
NBC's Chuck Todd reports that Karzai requested a signing of the agreement on Afghan soil. Obama will not speak before an audience of troops, Todd reports. He will mention the bin Laden anniversary.

This is also the nine-year anniversary of President Bush speaking on an aircraft carrier with the "Mission Accomplished" banner behind him.

It is comical how the left is trying to "twist" this "anniversary" into the defining moment of Obamas Presidency. First Senator Obama railed against the "war on terror". Then candidate Obama railed against the "war on terror". And now President Obama wants brownie points for his effort in the " war on terror". Another funny thing from the left is their re-action to Romneys, "even Carter would have given the order". And even though Romney has not(as yet) stepped foot in the White House, the presumptive left claims they are able to say, they know Romney would not have failed to give it. The funny part is there was a Democrat, who was President, and he "failed" several times to give the order, none other than B.J. Clinton.............
Well uh gee guy, Romney did say he would not go into Pakistan to get Bin Laden. Sorry.
Oh, by the way, the intel database on Bin Laden was started and organized by Clinton. Clinton also launched an array of missiles on suspected Bin Laden positions.
W had could have taken out Bin Laden at Tora Bora but called off the troops because of close family ties with Bin Laden.

Romneys comment which you on the left "twist" in attempt to make Obama out to be the only President who would have given the order, because HE is so gallant, decisive, and............. (hold on a second I almost puked), what Romney said was simply getting bin Laden would not be the "end all" on the war on terror. And it was "W" and the enhanced interrogation at Gitmo, that led to Osamas messenger, which led to the exact location of bin Laden. And your conspiracy theory about "W" having family ties is to pathetic to comment on.
It was the database started and compiled by Clinton that led to our success. Even John McCain said no actionable intel was derived through the despicable torture condoned and encouraged by W and Cheney.
Furthermore, it is a well known fact the Bin Laden family contributed to Bush campaigns. Oh, I almost forgot. A few days after 911 W hustled the Bin Laden family out of the USA to avoid having the FBI debrief them and get warrants for their personal records, cell phone logs, bank accounts, etc.
And gee guy, W let Bin Laden go at Tora Bora when the operators had him dead to rights. Why was that again?
A year later Bush said, " I am not concerned with Bin Laden and don't know where he is"

Bring my fellow comrade in arms back home. Bushes wars have cause enough pain for our troops. And if the republicans don't like it, it does not matter because they will loose big time come Nov.
There is nothing that President Obama can do that will not have the Republicans Tea Party and right wing Nuts trying to play both side of the issue to attempt to make him look bad.
They now have Bishop Romney leading the way to the biggest defeat in American history. I can't wait to come on here after election day and watch the birthers, bigots, racist and the like complain. I will be so comical.

This Nation has a long and glorious history of helping other Nations, whose citizens are being killed, raped, and tortured by their leaders. From the vicious extermination of Jews in Europe, to thousands of Chinese citizens whose babies ended atop Japanese bayonets, this Nation stepped up to save these people, when other Nations simply stood and watched. And simply because you are a political partisan lemming, so desperate to see one Party(Democrats) stay in power, you dishonor those who served, and rescued Iraqi and Kurdish citizens from Saddam's cruel regime. If you would, and those like you(liberals), would set aside your partisanship for one second and researched what life was like under Saddam's cruel thumb, you would be proud that your Nation stepped up and ended his terrible rein. Thousands of Iraqi's have been found in mass grave throughout Iraq. And if you are looking for the elusive "WMD's", look no further than photo's taken of Kurdish villagers bodies(men, women, and children) that simply fell over where they stood, when Saddam ordered helicopters to fly over and spray toxic gas on them. But NO, your blind hatred of one man, George W. Bush, and simply because no matter what damage Obama does to this Nations economy, you are going to vote simply to keep Democrats in power.
