For Newt Gingrich, forever's gone away

Newt Gingrich will bid farewell officially tomorrow at 3:00 pm ET in Arlington, VA, his campaign announced, per NBC's Alex Moe.

"Expect Newt to speak to the important role citizens can play in stopping a second Obama term and helping Mitt Romney and the Republican Party build a governing coalition in Washington and state capitals across the country," Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond said in a statement.

But it's not clear just how much he will say about Romney or if he will officially endorse him. In his good-bye video posted this morning, he made no mention of the presumptive Republican nominee, but he did say, as Moe points out, that this was still the most important election and voters needed to do everything to beat Barack Obama:

A song for Gingrich:

I would like to dedicate this to the Newtser;

Frank Sinatra - My Way lyrics :

And now, the end is here
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and ev'ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

Now exit stage right & take the bobble-headed bimbo with you!
And now, the end is here
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and ev'ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

Gingrich was at the Republican dinner on the evening President Obama's Inauguration in January 2009.

The group of 15 senior GOP vowed to block all the President's initiatives to pull our nation out of the greatest recession since the 1930'.

Gingrich has played a CUNNING part in the GOP's strategy to crush the middle class of America.

Gingrich will continue to play a cunning role for GOP/Koch:

To create greater and greater income disparity and - give power over ordinary people - to corporations that call the shots and enable them to run our Government.

A new book by Robert Draper documents that top Republican lawmakers, including Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, Tom Coburn, Pete Hoekstra, Kevin McCarthy, Jon Kyl, John Ensign — and disgraced former Speaker Newt Gingrich and noted spin artist Frank Luntz — decided on election night 2008 that no matter whether he [President Obama] created jobs or did well for the economy, Republicans nation wide would provide a united front against anything President Obama would try to do:

For several hours in the Caucus Room (a high-end D.C. establishment), the book says they plotted out ways to not just win back political power, but to also put the brakes on Obama's legislative platform.

"If you act like you're the minority, you're going to stay in the minority," Draper quotes McCarthy as saying. "We've gotta challenge them on every single bill and challenge them on every single campaign."

"You will remember this day," Draper reports Newt Gingrich as saying on the way out. "You'll remember this as the day the seeds of 2012 were sown."

We'll remember you too Newt. Don't let the door hit ya in the arse on your way out (again), and don't even think about trying to come back.

Hey Newt, thanks for getting Romney to spend millions from his war chest to pay for carpet bombing you! Appreciate the help!

This message brought to you by supporters of Obama/Biden 2012!

Leave it to a guy like Newton to prolong his exit from the race. I can't wait to hear him "endorse" Romney and tell us how much he "likes" the guy.

Hey, Newton, who is more likely to be fighting the gag reflex during your endorsement...me or you?

So Newt are you going to support Willard or lay low? You could serve your Nation best by telling everyone what a scum bag liar Willard is.

Na, I think he will do a better job telling everyone what a scumbag liar Obama is. He'll have a lot more material to work with.

There is nothing bad on the President. However, Willard has a ton of baggage.

I think Newt would endorse Obama if he would pay off Newt's campaign debts!

Seriously---I think Newt will string along the endorsement process---addicted to the attention plus he does need to retire that debt and get a paying gig somewhere.

"For Newt Gingrich, forever's gone away"

First Read has clearly taken special joy in mocking Newt Gingrich.

Perhaps because he famously said , correctly, that MSNBC is practically an arm of the Obama reelection campaign.

Joe Biden gives all of us material daily which could be mocked, but MSNBC is too Obama-friendly to mock the current VP.

Well, Prober Bob, you've consistently shown that you don't have the vagina to mock Gingrich as a failure, so someone has to.

I'm sure Joe Biden will be very obliging in putting his foot firmly into his mouth in the near future. However, for right now, this is Newt's moment in the spotlight.

Newt will soak up every single dollar he can out of this campaign, whether it is selling his voter lists, charging for pictures, or hawking his books and DVD's he'll be shilling for all their worth.

Soooo....Newt announces that he's announcing that he's having a press conference to announce that he is "suspending" his campaign?

    Almost a week out?

Is he trying to lure that one really...REALLY bid donor?

Maybe he is...after all, he has tha Tiffany's credit line to clear. Maybe he can ask Rubio for some tips?

And I be that there are quite a few FR users that are gonna miss the prospect of the gabizillion dollar "moon base" he had in mind...

Newt, I for one will really miss you. Between your Tiffany encrusted moon colonies and your made up American history, you brought the surreality that added a second dimension to Republican politics.

Wait, what am I saying? I won't miss you at all. Go hit the buffet so you and Cheney can wrestle over the next available heart transplant.

At least you have some great anecdotes for wifey number four.

I'm guessing Newtie is holding onto his endorsement to see if Mittens will give him the Secretary of State job.

Oh, God! Can anyone find that believable?

Personally, as a stone cold Trekkie I rather like the idea of the moon colony--one-sixth gravity would have been much easier on my arthritis than this particular planet.

But I'd have to put up with the Grinch as President, and some sacrifices are just too great.

Newt, Hopefully you were able to fill up your check book and sell the rest of your books collecting dust and also get your fill of camera time. America remebers the 90's and how pathetic a house leader you were, now find a nice retirement home and get a new girlfriend.

Darn and then there was Bishop Romney. Oh well no more laugh a minute Newt. I am waiting for him to torpedo Romneys' campaign. He is going to say something that follows Bishop Romney all the way to his embarrassing defeat in Nov.
