DUE TO TECHNICAL ERROR, FIRST THOUGHTS WAS LATE PUBLISHING.
The bin Laden killing, one year later – how quickly things change … Republicans cry foul that Obama campaign is using the death as a reelection weapon … Foreign policy vs. the economy (it’s still the economy) … Is Obama the Warrior in Chief? … Another veep tryout – this time it’s Romney with New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte. … Gingrich to drop out Wednesday.
Believe it or not, tomorrow marks a year since Osama bin Laden was killed. We wrote then: “While it’s doubtful that Osama bin Laden’s death will have as long of a political impact [as 9/11] -- especially in this fast-changing, short-term memory media landscape -- it will surely shape the contours of next year’s presidential race. … Last night changes everything (for now), but we also know how quickly it can dissipate.” And dissipate it did. The president’s bump – for something that was as big a singular accomplishment that any president could have -- was short-lived, because of the economy and the debt-ceiling fight. It’s a reminder of just how important the economy is that the bump was never as big as it would have been under normal circumstances. (By the way, NBC’s Rock Center went inside the decision making of the killing of bin Laden. Brian Williams previewed his interview with the president on Meet the Press. The full show, with interviews of others that were in the room) airs Wednesday at 9:00 pm ET.
Caption: NBC's Domenico Montanaro discusses the politics of the one year anniversary of the Osama Bin Laden raid, and New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte gets a look as a possible vice president for Mitt Romney.
*** Playing politics: Republicans are crying foul at the Obama campaign’s touting of the killing (and using it in a campaign video charging that Mitt Romney might not have made the same call. There are two lines of attack: (1) Republicans are trying to minimize the accomplishment, saying anyone would have done it; and (2) They say he’s politicizing everything, including foreign policy. Ed Gillespie, an adviser to the Romney campaign and former Bush adviser said on Meet the Press: “This is one of the reasons President Obama has become one of the most divisive presidents in American history. He took something that was a unifying event … and he’s managed to turn it into a divisive, partisan, political attack. … I think most Americans will see it as a sign of a desperate campaign.” It’s fascinating to watch Democrats try to demagogue foreign policy, the way Republicans do and have done over the years (see Cheney, Dick in 2004). Republicans usually find themselves almost overreacting when Democrats go over the top in their foreign policy attacks. Count on some REALLY heated cable and Twitter rhetoric this week on this topic as the run-up to the bin Laden anniversary kicks in.

President Barack Obama speaks to troops at Third Infantry Division Headquarters at Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Georgia, on April 27, 2012, prior to Obama signing an Executive Order to protect them from deceptive targeting by educational institutions.
*** Warrior in Chief? The Romney campaign has pushed the issue of foreign policy, trying to paint Obama as weak and appeasing (especially when it comes to Iran). The GOP would have liked to paint the picture of Obama as a feckless, weak president, lacking strength. But despite the rhetoric, Obama’s foreign policy has been incredibly muscular. In fact, Peter Bergen of the New America Foundation in the New York Times Sunday Review provocatively casts President Obama as the “Warrior in chief,” ticking off several of Obama’s foreign-policy raids, killings, and use of drones. The death of bin Laden undercut any hopes Republicans had of being able to paint Obama as Jimmy Carter. And he makes the point of this disconnect: “Despite countervailing evidence, most conservatives view the president as some kind of peacenik. From both the right and left, there has been a continuing, dramatic cognitive disconnect between Mr. Obama’s record and the public perception of his leadership….” Make no mistake, had it failed, that’s exactly how he would have been portrayed. Bergen writes that if Romney runs a risk when criticizing Obama on foreign policy. If he tries to portray him as “a typical, weak-on-national-security Democrat,” then “he will very likely trap himself into calling for a war with Iran, which many Americans oppose.”
*** McCain as top foreign-policy attack dog: Taking the lead on the attack, though, is Sen. John McCain, Obama’s 2008 opponent (who also believes Obama hasn’t had courage to act in Syria). McCain, now a Romney surrogate, said Obama’s “diminishing the memory of September 11th,” and accused him of “doing a shameless end-zone dance.” It’s a fine line. McCain clearly doesn’t mind playing this role. He says things Romney couldn’t get away with and it’s something that’s quite beneficial to Romney. If Romney said what McCain did, Romney might get ridiculed. It’s an interesting role that McCain is willing to play. It could be a preview of the role McCain might play going forward in the campaign -- traditional role of VP, but on foreign policy. McCain doesn’t mind going personal with Obama, as he’s demonstrated since 2008. You can try to explain away McCain’s motives all you want, but it could be oddly effective for Romney.
USA Today's Susan Page, The Washington Post's Dan Balz, and The Chicago Tribune's Clarence Page discuss the Romney campaign's accusation that President Obama is politicizing the death of Osama Bin Laden.
*** STILL THE ECONOMY: But for all the talk of foreign policy and how much credit Obama deserves or whether or how he should be touting it, the most important issue this election – as it was a year ago -- remains the economy. It should be like a flashing red sign – IT’S THE ECONOMY, IT’S THE ECONOMY. Jobs will get a fresh look Friday when the latest report comes out. The unemployment rate has been essentially flat for three months. Even though the rate has come down from a high of 10.0%, if the rate continues to appear not to drop very much or the trajectory seems flat, that is going to be a problem for the incumbent president. Watch the trajectory; it will tell you the whole ballgame.
*** Another veep tryout: Today’s another veep tryout with Romney and New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte at 10:50 am ET. Though she’s been a senator for just two years, Ayotte served as New Hampshire’s attorney general (she was appointed by Republican Craig Benson in 2003 and RE-appointed by a Democratic governor). The Republican Party’s problems with women have been well documented over the last few months. If Romney is going to pick a woman, the most serious candidate is likely Ayotte. That is, aside from Condoleezza Rice if she wants it, and there’s no indication she does. But the shadow of Palin still looms large over the GOP pick, and the Romney team may be more risk averse because of it. But as GOP 12’s Heinze wrote last week: “Sarah Palin didn't prove that picking a woman doesn't help with women. Palin was simply the wrong woman.” (By the way, over the weekend, NBC’s Alex Moe reported that Newt Gingrich would officially drop out Wednesday.)
*** Obama fundraises with Clinton: There were a couple striking things at the fundraiser with President Clinton this weekend at the home of Terry McAuliffe: (1) How little Romney was mentioned. After a weekend and week of going after Romney personally, last night was more in line with where the Obama campaign was when this campaign first started -- go after the entire GOP. It was more the theme of -- they want to take you back, it’s their failed economic policies on steroids, not the party of Abe Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt; it’s not their Republican Party. (2) This was not an ordinary Obama fundraiser speech. Here, he was trying to follow one of the Democratic Party’s best economic communicators. Obama knew he was on friendly turf, but not the friendliest turf, as he was trying to appeal to Clinton people. One Democratic source who is more of a member of Team Clinton than Team Obama described last night as kind of like a “first date” between Clinton and Obama; For the first time, this person could actually see the two of them starting to bond; It took a while for Clinton to get over 2008 but so far, things have gone well in this courtship. Two more Obama-Clinton fundraisers to go; New York and PROBABLY Hollywood.
*** A way to bring up Seamus: Don’t overlook the fact that the White House used the opportunity of the White House Correspondents Dinner -- when they knew they’d get lighter coverage for what they did – put a story that they’ve struggled to put into the mainstream, quietly trying to do for months, the Seamus story. It was frankly a way to get Seamus out there. Yes, Obama made fun of himself and eating dog, but they’ll take that to get the Seamus story mainlined; They’ve been trying for months.
** Waiting on Lugar’s fate: There are just eight days until the Indiana Senate primary that could see the ouster of the most senior Republican in the Senate. AP today wonders whether Richard Lugar waited too long to brand his opponent. On Friday, the 2008 GOP presidential ticket split its endorsement – John McCain endorsed Lugar; Sarah Palin endorsed his challenger and Tea Party favorite, state Treasurer Richard Mourdock. Mitt Romney said he was staying out of it. A poll aligned with Mourdock showed him up 44-39% Thursday. The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette headline: “Hundreds cheer Mourdock at city rally.” The rally was organized by Tea Party Express, which has played a big role in this race.
Countdown to Indiana Senate/Wisconsin recall primaries: 8
Countdown to Wisconsin recall election: 36
Countdown to Election Day: 190 days

Ok so the Republicans don't like the President capitalizing on the Bin Laden take down because he personally didn't pull the trigger, it was only the guys that work for him. So lets use some other personal accomplishment that he may politicize. You know like whipping Republican butts in 2008, just like he is going to do in 2012!
You seem to have forgotten the 2010 midterms, or given your obvious political party obedience, repressed the memory due to it's painfulness. You will want to stock up on anti-depressants before Nov 2012 because the removal of Dems was just getting started.
The GOP is crying because of jealousy. They couldn't get Bin Laden and this hurts their belief that they are the party of national security.
Obama would have never got Bin Laden if not for the policies put in place by the Bush administration...and he didn't get anybody....the seals did....wink...wink...
The Dems are crying because Obama going to lose and they have invested so much "hope and change". One and done!
9-11 happened under the watch of the GOP. Their polices failed.
dixie,
Dubya/Cheney kept OBL alive so that they could start illegal wars, push the Patriot Act, and implement torture and rendition among other 'things'
Therman - "They couldn't get Bin Laden and this hurts their belief that they are the party of national security."
How many American citizens have been murdered by illegal aliens while the B.O. administrations sues Americans for enforcing U.S. border law?
P.S.
Bush got Sadam AND HIS SONS, Bin Ladens boys are still roaming free.
And of course, this is why we don't take squalling teapublicans seriously..
Most of whom, will undoubtedly have to look up - "countervailing"
""“Despite countervailing evidence, most conservatives view the president as some kind of peacenik""
No, we view him as an epic failure!
Crystal,
Dubya/Cheney was the epic failure.
If you could open your mind just a touch you would see that Obama has much to his credit...but I doubt any inconvenient 'FACTS' will change your opinions.
I really think it was right place right time. You don't think any president whom ever it was in power at the time wouldn't have taken out Bin Laden if we had the chance!!!! This SOB now is going to milk it!!!! And a lot of you are trying to make him look good because of it! Give me a break. He's going to knit pick us apart in a lot of different areas plus the BS just to make himself look good before the election. He's just sweeping a little dust under the rug. If he and all his understudies get re-elicted you just wait until he decides to pull the WHOLE RUG from underneath us!!!
NortherPlains:
You said:"I really think it was right place right time. You don't think any president whom ever it was in power at the time wouldn't have taken out Bin Laden if we had the chance!!!! "
I believe you forgetting the right wing condemnation of President Bill Clinton for missing Bin Laden with a cruise missile??
Or are we just trying to have things both ways??
What about that Domestic Pentagon Bombing Terrorists, Bill Ayers? Oh yeah, that is a buddy of Obama and the Ghostwriter of his Autobiography.
Maybe President Obama should just say it from an aircraft carrier !! Oh no thats right he can't do that because HIS MISSION was REALLY accomplished !!!
Bush's mission was accomplished. He got even with Saddam for putting out a hit on his daddy when he was president. Junior didn't care much what happened after.
Problem with your comment, Obama is a buddy of an ACTUAL Pentagon Bomber, Bill Ayers. Mission FAR from accomplished
Rick - So Obama's mission ended with getting one person? Shouldn't he be trying to win the war and get our troops home?
I guess dictators do tend to make everything personal to themselves while ignoring the overall welfare of all involved though don't they? Thanks for pointing it out.
Obama didn't get anybody....the seals did...or did they....everything happened so fast..I mean we hear he was killed and buried at sea..and it was all over...and if he is dead..no proof...no pictures...no nothing....and now we have Clinton bragging about Obama getting Bin Laden....when he could have taken him out in 96....if this is all Obama's got to run on...good luck with that....it's still the encomony stupid...and we the american people are not stupid like the arrogrant Obama thinks we are....
So you would rather talk about the worst recession in history created by the same republican economics that gave us the great depression?
Obama did get somebody... he fired general McCrystal for not being a yes-man in a Rolling Stone interview. The same general who transformed JSOC into the unit that actually located Bin laden.
Oh, please, enough of this Repub nonsense already! What, Obama is NOT supposed to take credit for this accomplishment? And, are Repubs trying to tell us that THEY wouldn't be taking credit for being "tough" and "strong" on terrorists, if the bumbling Bush had somehow managed to take bin Laden out? How do Repubs expect to be taken seriously, when they behave in such absurd, not-real fashion? Ans: I guess they don't.
Didn't Bush take out Sadam and his sons? Show us the anniversary propaganda issued to the media for their deaths.
Bush also didn't cower to the enemy after getting them and say "we don't want to upset you by showing their dead bodies", their dead bodies were shown everywhere.
If Karl Rove was still "the Brain" in the W.H. killing Osama would be voted in the House for a national day of celebration
Ed Gillespie better go have a talk with Dick Cheney, because much to my surprise, Dick Cheney congratulated President Obama on his call to take out Osama Bin Laden...
At least Dick Cheney was man enough to Man up and Congratulate President Obama on taking out Osama Bin Laden.
Bin Laden: what utter Republican nonsense. The President issued the order to kill Bin Laden--DESPITE absolutely-certain Republican criticism of him, regardless of what he does. And if the risky mission failed? Republicans surely would have criticized him for being "ineffective, blundering, and not really understanding Americans." Actually, the President understood quite well what Americans wanted--Bin Laden dead. And that the President would do it again. regardless of what the Republicans have said.
The Republicans think they've hit a home run with this twisted "polarization" argument--which everyone knows is really polarization the GOP has created between them and women, Hispanics, and African-Americans, for example. Like "class warfare" (with the rich as victims): outside the country club, maybe it's just another shot in the dark ending up in the rough.
To criticize Obama on Bin Laden?? Worst of all for the GOP--that's the best they've got. They are fooling no one.
You actually think you would know about the true purpose of the mission if it failed? No wonder you are a Democrat.
opps. Your white robes are hood are showing.
The true purpose? What would the explanation of a failed mission have been when the Pakistani military (unusually close, but oh-so-far away) then raised the rood: "urban renewal"? The President took a calculated risk--and he delivered. Honestly: would a true patriot now complain--or is the GOP playing the sleaziest, most transparent attempt at manipulation, albeit doomed at the outset?
It was the Democrats majorty that fought so hard to keep Slavery, it was the Republicans that fought so hard to end it.
The democrats also fought hard to keep segeration, Democrats like to pit different groups against each other, so that they can pander to each group. No it is War on Women. What is next, war on pets? Women are graduating in greater numbers then men. They are doing just fine. During Bush's term he had more women in hi level cabinet offices them Obama, and Clinton combined. So you can claim Republicans opress minorites, but I am sorry. History shows quite a bit different story that your Democratic lies try to protray as truth. Democrats are great at giving others peoples money away, but are not so giving with their own money. If this president truely believed in "Fairness" then he would push congress to revamp the tax code to one flat rate with no deductions. So that everyone would pay the same percentage. Change the SS to a 401K type system, in which the funds are controld by the person, not some government agency that can take the funds and not pay them back. Give companies Tax free status, so that they can build here, and hire workers without paying taxes. Companies would find it cheaper to do business here and hire US workers. Besides The taxes they pay are in the goods they produce and we pay higher prices for them to cover the cost of taxes, and regulations. If we could do this and get enough companies back here then the workers would be able to choose their place of employment with a greater selection.
Does anyone actually believe the American public would have ever even heard about the mission if it had failed? If it failed it would have been called a "training exercise" or "recon mission".
How difficult is it to "ok" something that you know nobody will ever know about if it goes bad, but everybody will hear about if it goes well?
Funny how the same administration who would not release Bin Ladens death photos for fear of retaliation from muslims are now treating the event of his death like a national holiday. Any retalitory attacks linked to the celebrating will no doubt be buried by the liberal media.
P.S.
I don't recall any anniversary celebration of Sadam's hanging this year, or any other year.
We heard about Carter's failure to rescue the hostages and 5 marines were kiled. Are you too young to know this?
pjam,
What did Saddam do to us again that warranted our military intervention?
We heard about Mogadishu.........(looks like another republican memory fart.....)
With unemployment high, the housing market shot, trillions in debt and not even a budget for three years, it is sad that this is all Oby has to brag about.
He allowed team 6 to do their job.....
Oh ya, and how is that hope and change workin' for ya?
How often did we hear about the "war on terror" puffery from the Bush Administration?
Questioning Romney is still very real & appropriate --- Romney said OBL wasn't worth the expense
Obama inherited SEAL Team 6 & all the problems created by republicans who abandoned Afghanistan critically under resourcing the hunt for OBL
... Obama also approved the funding & training for that highly successful mission 8 months prior to the mission that killed OBL
Would Romney? ---- Not according to Romney,, It was too expensive & according to Romney wasn't worth the expense
Republicans would rather stomp their little feet & scream like children rather than address this very important issue
Think of it like Obama became the coach of a football team that when 0 for 16 last year and then won the superbowl. I guess some people would want to give all the credit to the 0 and 16 coach. That would be coach Dubya.
I truly believe President Obama should be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. From the golf course President Obama swerved through heavy traffic (his driver actually), with no forethought to the dangers inherent in that endeavour. He knew he must be in that briefing room when the Seals went into Osama's compound. He stared, beady-eyed, at the monitor unwaveringly, again with no forethought to the danger to himself. The footers for a two hundred foot statue are being excavating as we speak, commemorating His unquestioned heroism. I bow to our Grand Exalted Leader.
lol
Be careful YOUR white robes and hood are showing. The doctors need to restrict your access to the computer and change your meds
Dasvet,
With your reasoning no President should ever get credit for anything. What do President's actually do? Congress passes legislation...military's carry out missions....What should they get credit for?
Of course I just have to be racist, if I don't love the half-white Exalted Leader. Thanks, Pat, I'm glad you got the memo in time to respond. Now, have another bite from that dog.
Pat, why is it with u liberal cry babies, that everyone must be a racist if they don't like Obama. He is half white and was raised by whites. I personally could care less what color he is. He was never qualified to be the POTUS. all he ever was, was an activist. Never held a real job in his adult life.
Dasvet?? You there?
Where?
I give credit to Obama on his taking action against Bin Laden, but to say anyone else but maybe Ron Paul. But to say Romney would not is a lie. Obama knew if he did't kill Bin Laden, his chance of reelection would also be killed.
I have to laugh about the "War on Women" It is really a war on the Tax payer. Students want to have sex, and just want the insurance compainies to pay for it. They say "hands off our bodys" and Hands on the tax payers pocket books. If you want sex and get benifits for doing it, sorry. What is next, I want to go driving a rental car, and go crashing into things. I want your insurance company to pay for all my damages and any hospital bill I may have. Makes no sence. Democrats seem to think money just falls from the sky. No wonder our deficet has grown more then 1.5 trillion a year fro the past 4 years. Obama and Democratic Conress has learned that if you make the people dependant on you, for their livelyhood they will keep voting for you, so they can keep being fed. You may say "Bush caused the problem, but you would be forgetting that Congress controls the purse strings. and in 06 the democrats too over both houses of congress. Spending and home loan regulations increased. People making $5. an hours would allowed to purchase $200,0000 homes. In 08 they took a veto proof control of both houses and the presidency. So for 2 years they could do anything they wanted and the Republicans in congress could do nothing to stop them. So what did they do for the poor. Nothing. They bailed out the banks and mortage companies. The lent money to the EU Monetary Fund, to help Greece, and Italy, Spain, etc. Billions went to Green companies that soon went out of business (keeping the funds), and how much went to the poor. Yes, you can say food stamps have increased, unemployment has increased, (in real numbers, including those that just gave up looking) which is likely to increase more this summer. True he did give us tax payers a $1000.00 cut in payroll SS taxes, but not really. He cut the money from SS to which we earn credit on for when we retire. So it really hurts our amount we will recieve when we retire. The democrats are following their mentor FDR to get us out of this mess, but histroy shows if not for WWII he never did. Talk about being delusional. My worry is soon these credit card payments will become due, and who will pay for it, if China wants their money back.
Anything this President does is going to be wrong. It is the way the high income GOP works. Not facts, but what you are told by the GOP to think. The real fact is that this President found a way to get it done. Mr Obama has taken a mess left by someone else, and found a way to move forward, not fast but move steady. The GUTS to do the HARD things. The NERVE to keep his WORD. The SMARTS to here all sides and make the RIGHT choices. The RESPECT of the FREE WORLD. Now comes the Monday morning quarterback, "we can do that, that' s what we were thinking, how did HE do that". It's the old story ,they (GOP) drove it into the ditch, no one can help ,so lets get a ride on our money and leave THEM to pick through the ruins. BUT Mr. Obama found it ,got it to move, got it out of the ditch, AND NOW they (GOP) want it back. It's the same OLD story, repeated through time. But the game is not over, look at Europe, and NOW you want to try to do the same thing that put us into the ditch in the first place. KEEP WHAT WORKS, KEEP MR. OBAMA AS PRESIDENT.
E.T., so far you are correct, everything he has done IS wrong. You could have stopped after the first sentence, and then you would not have been so very wrong.
Yes Dasvet....killing Osama was wrong.
I hope Obama had the ear muffs on when he fired that fatal bullet. Thank God, Obama got out of the way of that smoking gun. My feelings are that the CIA/NSA/FBI and the Seal team accomplished the mission, after many years of planning through parts of two administrations. But, perhaps you are correct, it could have been THE EXALTED LEADER who fired the fatal shot.. I did see him leap tall buildings with a single bound.
Dasvet,
Again Dasvet....since you ducked my question in one of your rambling posts above....
What should Presidents get credit for? They don't personally write legislation...they don't personally fight in wars....what should President's get credit for?
Good on Obama!!! I'm glad he's politicizing the issue. He got bin laden and they didn't. The republicans wrote bin laden off several years ago. "Oh, he probably dead in some cave somewhere." Guess they were wrong! Like always. Obama got bin laden and the repub's didn't. I think Obama should be dancing all over the place and rubbing their noses in it.
Bin laden's dead and GM's alive! Now that's what I call management.
Obama / Biden 2012!!!! All the way.
“The death of Osama bin Laden at the hands of American forces is a victory for the United States and a tremendous achievement for the military and intelligence professionals who carried out this important mission. Their tireless work since 9/11 has made this achievement possible, and enabled us to capture or kill thousands of al Qaeda terrorists and many of their leaders. I also want to congratulate President Obama and the members of his national security team. . .”
Dick Cheney...
Is Obama proud of Seal Team Six? Just like most Americans are proud of Seal Team Six. You, bet he is, and like the political whore Obama is, he's trying to capatalize on it for his own gain.
Does that mean the man who has created a never ending ever growing debt crises deserve reelection? Not by a long shot.
What happened,
Why wouldn't he tout the killing of Osama Bin Ladin? Who wouldn't? He gave the order to kill, in spectacular fashion, the most wanted terrorist and single most important terrorist in US history....a person who evaded three previous Presidents. So....what's the problem here?
"Created a never ending ever growing debt crisis"????
Created? How much had the debt grown under Bush again?
Four trillion for Bush in eight years, five trillion and rising by THE EXALTED ONE, in three years three months, and projected to reach 25 trillion in ten years, if we follow Obama's so-called plan.
Dasvet,
If you knew anything about economics you would understand that Bush never accounted for any of the war spending (i.e. they were never included in his budgets).
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan exceed trillions of dollars...might want to adjust your Bush numbers a bit.
Neather Bush's budget, nor Obama's (I would say budget, but he has never operated under one) lack of a budget counted the wars funding. So that doen't make the facts untrue. I would use a more common form of Bush's 500 Billion with the help of Pelosi and Reed in the last two years. Vs. Obama's 1.67 Trillion deficet lessened ( not nearly enough) with the help of the house in the last year.
Of the hope and change, I have less hope, and the change is worse. Obama promised more open government, Citizens would see for 90 days any Bills that would be voted on, an end to devisiveness, to name a few. Way to go on Ben Laden, but the rest stinks.
Earlier this evening, President Obama called to inform me that American forces killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al Qaeda network that attacked America on September 11, 2001. I congratulated him and the men and women of our military and intelligence communities who devoted their lives to this mission. They have our everlasting gratitude. This momentous achievement marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.
George W. Bush...
.........and Dubya gave up looking for him years ago........
President Bush set fourth the hunt for bin laden, obama just happened to be the so called President at the time of his killing. He had no choice but to give the go ahead. If he had not it would have certainly have given his true colors away. He and the Democrats blow as much smoke and divert all the attention away from the real issue, obama's record. It is a good one at that, adding trillions to our dept, record high unemployment, record gas prices, triple A to double A and a economy that is going no were, yup its a good one for sure. Lets reelectobama, in another term he should be able to finish the job or should I say finish us off. obama's new slogan. Go on welfare and let the government/ me tell you what you can and can't do and if you get sick if its not to expensive and your not to old we will take care of your medical needs.
Crazy (appropriate name) when asked what was going on with getting bin Laden, Bush said, "We've got more pressing issues to deal with."
That why he put in place all the means to hunt him down, sounds like more pressing issues to me. or may be your some one that take things out of context and put your own spin on it.
Your poor spelling is a great distraction from your craziness.
How is it that Obama "inherited" the mechanisms that cause all his many failures but didn't "inherit" the mechanism that allowed the SEALS to get OBL? Did anyone else note the number of times he said "I" when describing the killing of OBL - versus the number of times he mentioned the SEALS? He is an uncaring self=centered monomaniac. He no more got OBL than Bush got Saddam Hussein. Bush never said I but gave full credit to the soldiers in the field - but then he was a true commander-in-chief whereas this Marxist hates everything the military stands for.
You would know. Its ok I understand when the Truth hurts you have to find some fault.
Well put Watermoon.
crazy, I saw a sign in the rest room at McDonalds today that read "Push Button to hear an Obama message". It was on the hand dryer.
It's up to the president to take *responsibility* for his military command, not "credit" for it.
David: Like Bush standing on a carrier declaring "misson accomplished"...while US solider were dying in Iraq that very minute?
As CIC it is the president's repsonsbility, but when something positive happens, a president can take credit....and if you remember President Obama gave "credit" to the Seal team, and the months of work others put into locating UBL.
Dragon - you are spreading a lie about Bush here. He NEVER said "Mission Accomplished!" That carrier which he landed on had been sent to Iraq to accomplish a specific mission and they put that sign up for their commander-in-chief to see. He praised them for accomplishing their mission and the liberal media started the lie that it was Bush someho saying that the Iraq mission was over. Are liberals too stupid to know this or do they purposely spread the media lie?
If your strategy to confront every criticism of Obama is to deflect it with a complaint about Bush, then your thought process is not mature enough to vote.
Just so I have it straight Republicans: Obama cannot take credit for killing Osama. But he IS responsible for our entire deficit?
Obama shouldnt take credit for making a pivitol decision that brought about the downfall of the world most wanted terrorist; so if it went wrong he would've gotten a pass?
You blame him for everything from your grandmas glaucoma to the pothole on your street but he gets no credit for killing Osama?
Which is it? Is it that he does nothing or he does too much your party SHOULD'VE DONE?
I can't even keep up with the litany of BS that spews from your party..You guys cant even get together to make up your mind what to hate--but I should trust one of you with the future of my country?
You must be joking...
If you take out Obama's first budget which was Bush's last and in place when Obama took office and Bush's wars and Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy, we are left with $14.37 that Obama has added to the national debt.
Well said Jim. Do you think the wing nuts will re-visit reality after reading that? I'm thinking they will dismiss that piece of information very quickly.
Jim keep spinning the numbers, obama two plus years were he and the Democrats had complete control. Sums it up.
Obama inherited a bad fiscal mess from the government that ruled in 2007-2008 which was a lame duck president and the Democratically held Houses of congress which-included Obama. He then proceeded to make a bad situation pinto a catastrophe! Obama also inherited a mechanism that was hunting down OBL. He was smart enough to not dismantle it and for that he does deserve credit. My problem is that he takes full credit for the latter but takes no responsibility for the former.
Jim - Wasn't the 110th Congress led by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have a Democrat majority? Didn't Mr Obama extend the "Bush Tax Cuts" thereby making them the "Obama Tax Cuts"
NH, the Obama sniffers are spinning faster than a gyroscope today. National debt spinning rapidly toward 16 trillion after inheriting a deficit of 10.8 trillion, and doing it in less than four years. I don't believe that dog will hunt this November, even if Obama does not have a "leg-o-dog" in the mean time.
