*** Obama maintains map edge: In our latest look at the 2012 presidential battleground map and the first since Mitt Romney became the presumptive GOP nominee, President Obama continues -- and has slightly added to -- his electoral-vote lead. There are 231 electoral votes in the Democratic column (either in the solid, likely, or lean categories), and there are 197 on the Republican side; 110 electoral votes are toss-up. In our previous NBC News map, which we released in late February, the Democratic advantage was 227-197. The only changes from February until now were that we moved New Hampshire from toss-up to Lean Dem; we moved Indiana from Likely GOP to Lean GOP; and we moved Georgia from Lean GOP to Likely GOP. Here’s our map:

Solid Dem (no chance at flip): DC, DE, HI, ME (3 EVs) MD, MA, NY, RI, VT (70 electoral votes)
Likely Dem (takes a landslide to flip): CA, CT, IL, WA (94)
Lean Dem: ME (1 EV) MN, NH, NJ, NM, OR, MI, WI (67)

*** Breaking down the seven toss-up states: As you see above, we have seven states in the toss-up category: Colorado, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. And if we were to push some of these states -- based on polling, past performance, and what we’ve heard from the campaigns/parties -- we’d give a slight edge to Obama in Colorado and Pennsylvania, and we’d give a slight edge to Romney in North Carolina. And that leaves us with four pure toss-ups: Florida, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia. One other point here: There aren’t enough toss-ups in the Midwest for Romney. He HAS to put Michigan and Wisconsin into play to put map pressure on Obama, especially if the GOP’s Hispanic problem continues to make the Western swing states uphill climbs.  

*** Obama to hold upcoming rallies in OH, VA: Given our pure toss-ups, it’s probably no surprise that Obama is kicking off his re-election campaign with rallies in two of our four pure toss-up states: Ohio and Virginia. Last night, the Obama camp announced that -- on Saturday, May 5 -- the president and first lady will attend campaign rallies in Columbus, OH and Richmond, VA, which happen to be swing areas in those two battleground states. “For the better part of the last year, Romney’s tried to tear down President Obama with a dishonest, negative campaign that even his Republicans have criticized,” Obama Campaign Manager Jim Messina said on a conference call announcing these two rallies. “Well, the monologue is over. Now Romney has to put his record and his agenda up against the president’s and we look forward to that debate.”

*** Biden to draw contrasts with Romney on foreign policy: In the latest of his campaign speeches drawing distinctions with Romney and the GOP, Vice President Joe Biden will deliver an address on foreign policy at New York University at 10:30 am ET. “President Obama ended the war in Iraq responsibly.  He set a clear strategy and end date for the war in Afghanistan. He cut in half the number of Americans serving in harm’s way. He decimated Al Qaeda’s senior leadership. He repaired our alliances and restored America’s standing in the world. And he saved our economy from collapse with bold decisions,” Biden is expected to say, per released excerpts. But he'll add, "Gov. Romney’s national security policy would return us to the past we have worked so hard to move beyond... But Americans know that we cannot afford to go back to the future.  Back to a foreign policy that would have America go it alone… shout to the world you’re either with us or against us… lash out first and ask the hard questions later, if at all… isolate America instead of our enemies." The Romney camp is holding a conference at 9:30 am ET to pre-but Biden’s speech.

*** Could SCOTUS upholding the Arizona law fire up Latinos? As NBC's Pete Williams reported yesterday, a majority of U.S. Supreme Court justices appear to be prepared to uphold part of Arizona's controversial immigration law -- based on their comments during Wednesday morning's oral arguments. Here’s a question we have: If you’re Mitt Romney, aren’t you secretly rooting for the court to overturn the law? Just like with the health-care law, it’s hard to predict how the ultimate Supreme Court decision will play out in November. But you COULD make the case that the court upholding the Arizona law would fire up Latinos in a big way. Just something to keep an eye on... It’s the same theory many strategists believe will drive the political reaction to the Supreme Court’s health-care ruling: that if the law is upheld, it fires up conservatives in a bigger way and forces health care back into the debate.

*** Team Walker’s big ad-spending advantage: Less than two weeks from now, Wisconsin voters will head to the polls to participate in the first round of Wisconsin’s gubernatorial recall – the May 8 primary. The marquee contest here is on the Democratic side between Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (whom Gov. Scott Walker defeated in 2010) and Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk; Walker also has a minor primary opponent. Then, just four weeks later on June 5, Walker and the Barrett-Falk winner will face off for the big prize. A late March NBC/Marist poll showed 46% supporting Walker in the recall, while 48% supporting the eventual Democratic nominee. Walker’s approval rating in the poll was 48%-48%. Yet Walker and his allies (like the Republican Governors Association) have a HUGE ad-spending edge over Dem candidates and affiliated groups, $10.6 million to $4.5 million. And this advantage raises this question: Is that going to help push Walker over the top in this recall? Or does it mean that Walker can’t go any higher and that Dems could impact the race if they get close to parity? “There has been no parity on television, and we're going to be up on television,” one Dem strategist tells NBC. But here’s the GOP counter to that: Everyone has already made up their minds about Walker, and the ads that can make a difference are the others hitting Barrett or Falk.

*** The ad-spending numbers in Wisconsin: Here’s the total ad spending from November (when Walker began his ads) through April 25, according to Smart Media: 

Walker: $7.2 million
Right Direction for WI (RGA): $3.4 million
WI for Falk (union-affiliated effort): $2.4 million
Greater WI Committee (anti-Walker, DGA has contributed): $1.1 million
Barrett: $634,000
Falk: $342,000

Just as I have always suspected from these treasonous bastards!

One thing is certain – they will not be able to run on the “Country First” BS this time around!

WASHINGTON -- As President Barack Obama was celebrating his inauguration at various balls, top Republican lawmakers and strategists were conjuring up ways to submarine his presidency at a private dinner in Washington

The event -- which provides a telling revelation for how quickly the post-election climate soured -- serves as the prologue of Robert Draper's much-discussed and heavily-reported new book, "Do Not Ask What Good We Do:
Inside the U.S. House of Representatives

According to Draper, the guest list that night (which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.), Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), Paul Ryan (Wis.), Pete Sessions (Texas), Jeb Hensarling (Texas), Pete Hoekstra (Mich.) and Dan Lungren (Calif.), along with Republican Sens. Jim DeMint (S.C.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Ensign (Nev.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.). The non-lawmakers present included Newt Gingrich, several years removed from his presidential campaign, and Frank Luntz, the long-time Republican wordsmith. Notably absent were Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House
Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) -- who, Draper writes, had an acrimonious relationship with Luntz.

For several hours in the Caucus Room (a high-end D.C. establishment), the book says they plotted out ways to not just win back political power, but to also put the brakes on Obama's legislative platform.

Whether or not that's shocking depends on the degree to which one's view of politics has been jaded. What's certainly noteworthy is the timing. When Mitch McConnell said in October 2010 that his party's primary goal in the next Congress was to make Obama a one-term president, it was treated as remarkably candid and deeply cynical. Had he said it publicly in January 2009, it would likely have caused an uproar.

Who Is Behind the Curtain?

This week we saw Romney attempting to move toward the center by flip-flopping on student loans. Initially he was for student loans increasing from 3.4% to 6.8% ala the Paul Ryan budget, but after watching Obama gain support among the youth, ol' Willard wants to ignore the men behind the curtain and agree with our President.

BTW, who are the men behind the curtain? Let's begin with Paul Ryan. Willard endorsed the "marvelous" Ryan budget which increases student loans, cuts job training, education, healthcare, transportation and housing. It also gives additional tax breaks to the wealthy. This is not the Bush 43 budget updated; it is the Bush 43 budget on steroids.

Then we have Kris Kobach, a lawyer from Kansas, who drafted Arizona's SB 1070. Romney called this bill a "model for the nation". In Romney's dance toward the middle, he realizes he must hoodwink the Hispanic community by supporting some Rubio version of the Dream Act. But make no mistake about it; Kris Kobach is Romney's man behind the curtain and it is now impossible for even Romney to reverse himself.

And standing in the shadows is an 85 year old man named Robert Bork. In 1987 Bork was nominated to the Supreme Court but his nomination failed 42-58. Both Republicans and Democrats voted against Bork as he was is an extreme conservative. Bork opposed women's economic equality and their reproductive rights. He also opposed the civil rights of minorities; yet Romney looks to Bork to help him possibly nominate the next Supreme Court justice. Bork's presence behind the curtain should be a concern to all women and minorities.

And then there's John R. Bolton, once the permanent representative to the United Nations, except his position was not so permanent as in 12/2006 he had to resign as he was unable to gain confirmation. If you like war, you'll love John Bolton planning Romney's foreign policy.

So you have wooden Willard in front of the cameras pretending he is moving toward the center. But the people I'm keeping my eye on are the men behind the curtain. All of whom are charter members of the flat earth society.

New claims for unemployment benefits fell to 388,000 last week from an upwardly revised 389,000 the week prior. Economists were expecting a drop to 375,000 from an initially reported 386,000. The four-week moving average rose to 381,750, the highest level since January 7.

This should be the top story everywhere. They have no business serving in Congress. There should be hearings on this, but of course there won't be. These people should be thrown out of government on their a$$e$.

There are only two explanations for the direction taken by the Republican Party. The first is that there is honest disagreement with the Democratic platform and the G.O.P. is working as the loyal opposition. Its goals are the destruction of our nation and our government, and reducing the majority of us to the status of indentured slaves.

President Obama has just been inaugurated, and already Republicans are plotting his destruction. No legislation has been introduced by Democrats, no serious roadmap for the country has been laid out. Yet Republicans are already planning to block anything and everything that comes out of Congress or the office of the President.

The economy is in full meltdown. Gross Domestic Product is in freefall, dropping 8.9%. Employment is falling precipitously; more than 700,000 jobs per month. The housing market has fallen off the edge of the world. The financial services sector has looted the economy and is being bailed out by taxpayers. And all the Republicans can think about is destroying President Obama and by extension - the nation.

Then, in a propaganda blitz that takes cynicism to new depths, Republicans scream to the heavens that President Obama has not cured the problems THEY created. That's not enough. They can go further. After they have whored themselves out to Big Money and Megabuck Monstrocorp, they crank up the volume on their propaganda machine and accuse President Obama of fostering class warfare.

There is no longer even the tiniest vestige of defense for Republican obstruction and destruction. Make no mistake, they are the enemy. There is nothing loyal about their opposition.

The ignorant soldiers of the right wing will scream their talking points. They speak of freedom, yet abridge it at every turn. They scream about the sanctity of life and worship war. They scream about their allegiance to their Christ and ignore his teaching. They will do their best to hide the truth, because they cannot refute it.

If these jackals are successful, they will destroy the principles upon which our country is founded. That means the destruction of our freedom and our liberty. Will the day come, when we are relegated to serfdom, and we only dare whisper about the time when we refused to recognize treason?

Ron, it is more critical than ever for voters to dig in the weeds and look under the rocks because what Romney speaks is not what he supports. Mo...Is Michelle finally proud to be an American? By the way, the democrats never passed a budget even when they had a majority in both House and Senate. Why was that? Did obama tell the college students they will be paying for his spending for years to come? Also, our taxes are going up end of year. Are we in a better economy like obama said when he was elected or are his policies responsible for us lagging? Dodd Frank, obamacare, and more EPA regulation and the economy is hardly expanding.

Polls at this point are relatively meaningless, since most voters don't know anything about Romney and what his 'message' will be.

When we get through a debate or two, then we'll have a better idea. I still think Obama's in serious trouble because his policies have failed.

LA CROSSE,WI (WXOW)--The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said Wisconsin lost more jobs in the past year than any other state.

According to the bureau, Wisconsin lost 23,900 jobs. That number translates into a loss of 17,800 government jobs and 6,100 private jobs.

The Walker Administration notes more than 17,000 jobs were added in January and February.

UW-L Associate Economics Professor Taggert Brooks said you can grab data from various periods in time and get two completely different stories.

Brooks acknowledges the addition of about 17,000 jobs from January to February. With numbers down again in March, he states it's hard to know which direction we're headed.

Brooks said that's one reason why economists like to look at longer trends of data and comparisons to other states to determine an accurate measure of job loss or growth.

"We ignore sort of little blips one month here one month there two months, we look at longer term trends and that's where we sort of do have some troubling data. Wisconsin has decreased the amount of employment in the last year, where as pretty much every other state in the nation has added employment. That's a troubling trend," said Brooks.

One reason for the increase in jobs in January and February, Brooks theorized, could be because of the unusually warm winter we had.

He said people might have just started jobs earlier than normal because the weather allowed. Minnesota experienced that warm weather as well and the state had stronger job growth than Wisconsin did.

Dave I agree. I always thought many accusations of the Republicans as exaggeration. Recently, since President Obama was elected, my view of that has changed. For a man who hasn't done much that should soley please the left it completely confuses me why he is so hated by the right.

However this hatred is not the root of the issue, it is only the symptom. The true cause is the GOP itself. Rather than working with the current administration they arduously work against it. They no longer support ideas they themselves create, they oppose anything created by Obama, and they go as far as to criticize a man for his lack of action when in most cases they were the ones who caused it.

Their actions do not make sense. Often, their words and behaviors never allign and it is through this discrepancy that one can see it. The republicans, at least the ones in power, do not really care about the state of the country. It is not about doing what is best for all of America. I am not even sure if it is about the rich anymore. It is simply about how things should be done "their way".

They refuse to compromise, they refuse to listen, and worst of all they refuse to grow. Often in business a product becomes obsolete due to innovation. This is one of those times I wish things in government did not work so slowly.

If anything we need another party in contention (Multiparty system) like Britain. That way we could actually vote for who is good rather than who sucks less.

I would agree but as I said before the problem in gerrymandering by both parties to create safe seats. This is one of the unintended consequences of the civil rights movement. I doubt you can convince minorities (and why should they) to give up "their" representative to create competitive districts.

Also, a third party can never be effective at Presidential level because of the electoral college. That is one area I would be for a constitutional amendment and move it a popular vote, with run-offs until one candidate has a majority. I think this is the way France does it. So yes you would get 20% for the lunatic candidate in the first ballot but things would settle down after that.

Unfortunately that is not going to happen either because small swing states like the influence they have because of the electoral college, while the most populous, Florida excepted, are ignored.

Alan, I think the way elections are held does need to be revised. I do not have a solution for it, but there are more intelligent people than me who's job it is to fix it. The electoral college does not make as much sense as it used to, but at the same time I agree that we cannot simply drown out the minority states.

My problem though is what we have done instead is drown out those who lie in the opposite party as their state. I do not think there is a true argument on why it is that their vote counts. We have forgone one minority to lift another.

Ben, Wisconsin hired police and teachers after passing the limits on union bargaining. Without the limits, Police, Fire, and Teachers were going to face certain layoffs for years to come.

Otherwise, I suspect that Wisconsin is like Ohio. We too have had a dramatic decrease in unemployment. We have shown an increase in jobs where Wisconsin has incurred a smaller loss in jobs. The reason our rate has dropped is because people have left the state to get jobs, are now taking early Social Security, taking Social Security Disability, or just have given up seeking work.

Overseas, Great Britain's austerity policy has led to a double-dip recession, while in the U.S. with its modest stimulus spending, the economy is growing, albeit sluggishly.

Another interesting fact pointed out by Greg Sargent at the WaPo, is that during Obama's presidency there has been a net GAIN of 400,000 jobs in the private sector. Obama is only in negative territory because of the loss of public sector jobs, thanks to the layoffs of public sector workers at the state and local level, mostly by teabag governors as in Texas and Wisconsin.

Those fired public sector workers still have to buy things like houses, cars, and food from the private sector, so those layoffs have impacted the private sector, slowing down the economy. Whether or not the Republicans are acting out of blind ideology or with the full knowledge that firing public sector workers is depressing the economy, I don't know. But of course, they'll blame Obama for the results of their own bad actions regardless of which is the case. And most of the "serious" news media will ignore it.

Funny how Ben is cherry-picking his numbers from only a small amount of the data and specifically excluding the massive job losses in the public sector in the last year plus since Walker took over as governor. The overall employment in the state is down about 24,000 jobs in the last year while pretty much every other state in the country has posted fairly solid job gains overall. The desperation of the Republicans is palpable. The electoral map doesn't bode well for them.

They have disenfranchised women and the Hispanic vote. If the Supreme Court strikes down health care, then the Republicans will have to propose something to replace it with which will end up being less robust than what is already in place. If the Supreme court uphold's the immigration law in AZ, then Hispanics will be more fired up.

Look for team Romney to put together a health proposal and a DREAM act of their own.

In the end, for Republicans, health care is for the rich, and a DREAM act will be seen pandering to their base.

Not good news for team Romney.

There are way too many factors in deciding the Hispanic vote. (any vote for that matter) Whether relevant or not many minuscule things can alter people's view on the future of America.

Rubio is one major factor. Another factor regardless of our personal thoughts on the matter is the tensions that can be created by the Zimmerman trial. Florida is an important swing state. They have a large Hispanic population, even something we see as removed from politics can have an impact on voters thoughts and ideas.

What's totally ABNORMAL is the Republicans agreeing to oppose Obama on "every single bill" regardless of whether it was good for the country or not. The merits of legislation don't enter into Republican equations anymore. They are not in Congress to govern in the present; they are there to seize power.

And the Repubs have acted on their conspiracy, as proven by their shrill opposition to the individual mandate that most of them in office in the 1990's were backing, like Senator Grassley who was for it before he was against it because Obama was for it.

What would you have called it if the Republicans in Congress during World War II blocked spending bills for the war effort because it would hurt FDR and help them win elections if the Axis won the war? Most people would call it treason, and the Republicans in Congress are venturing dangerously close to that line.

Colorada used to be a red state, but in 2004 old George Soros and his money went into Colorado with Ron Stein created an organization called the Colorado Democracy Alliance with one purpose: taking over Colorado politics from the precinct all the way up to the State House and it worked. 1. This would be great news for Obama IF the election were next Tuesday. I am totally indifferent to polls until September, then I begin to pay attention. If you go back to this period in 1980, Carter was stomping Reagan by double digits, how well did that work out for old Jimbo? Likewise for Bush I. I seriously think the Democrats initially backed Clinton more because they considered him expendable, Bush I looked unbeatable, not so much, but then again he likely would have been re-elected but for the yappy little Texan that siphoned votes away from Bush.

2. Anyone willing to make a wager on the recall race in Wisconsin? Walker wins going away. For the record, jobs looses during the Jim Doyle years were far worse than now. By democrat math that would translate to 50,000 jobs saved just in Walkers 1st term. I also suspect that someone at BLS is playing politics with the numbers. I have never seen a state singled out in regards to jobs data, looks like a concerted effort between the democrats and their accomplice media to make Walker look as bad as possible. It won't matter, the voters of Wisconsin already see the benefits of Walkers plan and they will turn out to support him in June. So far the democrat strategy has been to invent issues, (war on women) they won't even touch the ones that initially got their collective panties all bunched up as they know they lose and lose badly on it. By the way, why are the same demoncraps pleading for patients when it came to giving Odumbos policies a chance to work, were the same people already castigating Walker less than a year into his term. Keeping in mind there is ever growing evidence that Walkers ideas have worked while Odumbos have been spectacular failures.

DOE Chu raising gas prices and gives self above “A” for job performance: President Barack Obama’s Energy Secretary Steven Chu wants to “figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” At the time he made the statement, gas cost $7 – $8 a gallon in Europe. At a Congressional hearing, he gives himself above “A” for performance.
  7. DOE Region VI Administrator Armendariz attacks American energy production: “It (philosophy of enforcement) was kind of like how the Romans used to conquer little villages in the Mediterranean. They'd go into a little Turkish town somewhere, they'd find the first five guys they saw and they would crucify them. And then you know that town was really easy to manage for the next few years.”

Yep, these “few” attacks and target groups mentioned above indicates some of this Administration’s agenda.

      However this hatred is not the root of the issue, it is only the symptom. The true cause is the GOP itself. Rather than working with the current administration they arduously work against it. They no longer support ideas they themselves create, they oppose anything created by Obama, and they go as far as to criticize a man for his lack of action when in most cases they were the ones who caused it.

      Their actions do not make sense. Often, their words and behaviors never allign and it is through this discrepancy that one can see it. The republicans, at least the ones in power, do not really care about the state of the country. It is not about doing what is best for all of America. I am not even sure if it is about the rich anymore. It is simply about how things should be done "their way".

      Outstanding comment, Akeem. This didn't even start with President Obama. It's just a worse reflection of how they reacted when Bill Clinton "stole" the election to which they felt entitled.       Let's look at unemployment numbers:

      From the Bureau of Labor Statistics, we can find these numbers for the last 3 months of 2008: October to November, 597,000 jobs were lost; November to December, 681,000 were lost; and December to January, 741,000 were lost. A loss of 2 million jobs in 3 months!

      The technical indicator of a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth as measured by a country's gross domestic product (GDP). In point of fact, GDP continued to fall through 2009 and we didn't see any increase in GDP until the last half of 2009.

      I am all for discussion, but we gotta keep the facts straight.

      Sarah-3043284: Sarah I agree with you. Both political parties are playing 'politics'. We have to keep them honest. We should all be Independent and then force the conversation to be meaningful. Essentially hold Politicians to a standard: They must do what they set out to do or else we will fail them by voting them out. Now there will be 2 sides to the debate and we will not get what we want 100% of the time but we know that the persons we elect will be held accountable to a reasonable degree.

      I think it is analogous to our work environment. We can't accomplish much by going it alone but we wouldn't accomplish anything if we are divisive. It takes teamwork and trust. It also takes a great leader who does not put himself/herself above the team.

          Liberty's choice of Romney leads to angry student response

          Washington (CNN) – Liberty University students and alumni are accusing the Christian school of violating its own teachings by asking Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints whose adherents are called Mormons, to deliver its 2012 commencement address.

          By Friday morning, more than 700 comments had been posted on the school's Facebook page about the Thursday announcement - a majority of them decidedly against the Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr.’s invitation, citing that the school had taught them Mormonism isn’t part of the Christian faith.

          “I can’t support Romney and I am happy I decided not to walk (in the commencement) this year,” wrote student Josh Bergmann. “Liberty University should have gotten a Christian to speak not someone who practices a cult. Shame on you Liberty University.”

          Janet Loeffler, a 53-year-old freshman at Liberty, expressed her anger at the decision when contacted by CNN. She also sent a copy of the page of the freshman textbook “The Popular Encyclopedia of Apologetics” which includes the passage, “Mormon doctrine stands in stark contrast to Jewish and Christian monotheism, which teaches that there is only one true God and that every other ‘God’ is a false god.”

          Loeffler’s daughter, Sarah Misch, 33, of Unionville, Virginia, who is also a student at the school said, “I am glad I am not graduating this year. I would not want to end my studies at a Christian university by being sent in to the world at commencement by a Mormon. We came to Liberty because of our faith in Jesus; not for political reasons.”

          Holly Stanton Morgan, another student, posted to Facebook, “I am glad that my husband and I won’t be attending his commencement. Mormonism is not Christianity. My commencement is next year. Hopefully they choose more wisely.”

          The nation’s largest evangelical denomination, the Southern Baptist Conference, lists the LDS Church as a cult. They specifically cite differences in theology surrounding salvation, baptism, belief in the Trinity, and marriage. A major sticking point between other Christian traditions and Mormons is the Book of Mormon, which Mormons believe is divinely inspired scripture and on par with the Bible. Other Christians do not recognize the Book of Mormon as scripture.

          Truthfully I was a little hesitant to bring this up for discussion this morning. It deals with several subjects that I find personally abhorrent Religious Tolerance especially.

          Now I don’t care if you’ll Yahoo’s want to run the snake handling, speaking in tongues Preacher from the little Church down the road a piece for President. Naw I better take that back anybody that spends that much time around Snakes is bound to be about a quarter bubble off level although it might qualify him with some of the two legged snakes running for public office now days .How about we go with a one armed turban wearing Pashtun Dali Lama looking dude instead.           The Constitution says that there shall be no religious test for being President and I’ll take old Tom Jefferson at his word that him and the Founding Fathers meant just that. Seems likely since old Tom was a Deist and he served a term himself.

          It does however appear that the Folks down at Liberty University don’t quite practice that kind of religious tolerance. You know that fine so called “Christian” Institution that old Jerry Falwell established down there in Lynchburg Va. that the late Rev. Falwell and his family and sycophants have been using for years to line their pockets and “educate” young men and women in the “proper’ values and mores of society.

          Now ever since Ronnie Raygun set old Falwell and his Moral Majority up as the arbiters of all that is Holy the Republican/T.P Party candidate has been expected to make a Pilgrimage every four years down to Lynchburg and kiss old Falwell’s (guess it’s Falwell II now unless that ceremony involves opening a casket) ring and to make nice with the Evangelicals for about 10 hours. ‘Cept now there seems to be a Schism in Evangelical Land. See the good Rev. and his minions are all for making sure their money train don’t jump the tracks. They’d sell their very souls for that. However they got a bunch of folks down there that they’ve been very busily teaching for years that Mormonism is a Cult and are ready to stand on that Principle.

          Now me I think it’s both funny and sad. Funny to see the Yahoo’s try to reconcile what they’ve been preaching all these years with the reality that like it or not they got to eat crow to stay in the hunt. What started with old Ronnie making a deal that probably gave him the Presidency is coming around to bite all of them in the a$$. What starts around generally comes round.

          To me it is sad that in this day that institutions such as Liberty University are allowed to continue to propagate this level of intolerance and ignorance. And get paid handsomely and regularly to do it. However you can solve this problem by telling Liberty University what I told them when they came around trying to recruit Young Son to play a little ball for them. “If you’ll boys were the last Institution of Higher Learning in the country I reckon that the boy might as well get used to flipping burgers down at Hardees”

          This doesn’t solve Mr. Romney’s problem however.

          Now it should be obvious to you’ll by this time that I wouldn’t vote for Mr. Romney for Dogcatcher. But it has more to do with the fact that he is a World Class Liar and Panderer than his Mormonism. In my world Mormons are just those fellows that get on their bicycles and make the trek up the holler to the Hill to speak with me and drop off copies of the Watchtower. An annoyance but not a game changer.

          No what is killing Mr. Romney is the Southerners that are willing to stick to Principal even when it’s in a Losing Cause. Trust me folks there are people down here that put Principle way up on the list of Southern attributes that our Yankee cousins are willing to overlook for a dime.

          You need look no further than the late War of Northern Aggression. You’ll might have thought that was all over with. Trust me pockets of resistors are still holding out. And they aint going to dishonor their Principals for Mr. Romney.

          Meanwhile, the economy is spiraling the drain again. Initial claims for unemployment are "down" by a thousand this week from last- to 388,000. Of course, last week's revision was up three thousand, to 389,000.

          It will get worse - because the EPA has its guns aimed squarely at hydraulic fracturing. Think those working in the swing states of Ohio and Pennsylvania know that their jobs will -Poof!- disappear, if, heaven forfend,Obama gets re elected?

          I do not think the Mormon church is a cult and it upsets me when people talk about Romney not being a Christian.

          But then I am not the head of an institution that has been loudly preaching intolerance of other faiths and making money off of it.

          The fact that Liberty U. is so disingenuous as to preach one thing, but actuate a different path when advantageous is revealing.

          IR was just postin an article that speaks of a legitimate issue Rommney will have to face. Many of you on the right have stated numberous time how all of the right will fall in line and support the Republican nominee. This article suggest the opposite and is supposed to lead to a discussion. IR mad no claims supporting it. It does promote interesting dicussion.

          If you feel that it is important to post this "legitimate" problem about Romney, you should also include the number of Evangelical Christians that think Obama is a Muslim, or don't identify with "God Damn America" Christianity.

          When Democrat Mo Udall, a Mormon, ran for President, his religion was never an issue, as I recall. I liked Udall, he was funny.

          Harry Reid is a Mormon, and it hasn't prevented Democrats from making him Leader of the Senate.

          Democrats respect freedom of religion, but Republicans only respect freedom, when it applies to themselves, or their "own kind." For instance, how can a Libertarian agree with requiring people to carry papers with them, identifying themselves as citizens? And yet, Republicans defend the Arizona laws giving police more power to detain people without papers.

          I've heard Republicans claim they feel "persecuted" in America for their religious faith, and yet, all the "cult" talk I hear about Mormonism comes from the Right.

          Yes Roger, it is fine to post that. But I have confusion in the relation. Like it or not Romney is a Mormon, and Obama is not a muslim. Lets say IR was doing this just to plant seeds. This article would be based in truth the one of Obama being a muslim would not.

          The reason I do not fine it as simply planting seeds is the commentary IR puts underneath to stare it away from there. If someone posted something on Obama being Muslim and writes underneath I cannot believe this is circulating its not true I am fine with that. If there is rhetoric promting the idea is when I would have problem.

My thinking is that, given that I have seen many that were not at all inflammatory and yet still get collapsed, it must be an indication of how effectively you expose the foolish hypocrisy of the reactionary righties here as well as your ability to dish verbal abuse back on the Rushian megaphones here ( both of which must ne equally galling to them.) I try not to flame at these guys but they (many of them) seem to live in denial and hostility.

          Doing away with same day Registration is definitely a smart move as it lessens the opportunity for voter fraud. if a person is to stupid or lazy to register ahead of time, they are not what we need in our voters.

          THat line about Democrats respecting Freedom of Religion is beyond laughable. Your so called leader with his soon to be tossed Obamacare is tried to make Churches and the institutions they run provide things their religion does not approve of. Yet the Muslim Brotherhood was just honored guests at our Whitehouse. Save the BS, Americans have seen what we have and we want no more of it. ABO in November and Soros can go ruin someone elses country.

          Democrats would do even more illegal things in elections if they got the same day registration. They have fought tooth and nail to stop voter I.D. even though in most states one has to show a driver's license to buy over the counter allergy pills. Indiana is prosecuting some of those wonderful Democrats for faking signatures on petitions to get Obama on the ballot there. Yes, wonderful people all for those that can't or won't make it on thier own in the world who have ruined every well intentioned social program ever produced with greed, envy and plain crookedness. Such as Unioins, Welfare, Food Stamps, Housing Assistantce, etc. They take every good idea and run it into the ground to get votes of those who are not intelligent enough to see through thier hype.

          I'm not seeing the correlation. There is a difference between objecting to the commencement speaker and objecting to a presidential canidate.

          Liberty University is, above all other things, a religious evangelical university. I do see how some (clearly not all) of their students might feel it inappropriate to have someone from outside of their deeply held religous beliefs at their commencement as that is symbolically their release into the world to spread their unique faith. One would think that someone more in line with their belief system would be more appropriate to serve in that capacity. I don't think that's bigoted per se, It would be like having Al Sharpton deliver the commencement at Yeshiva University in NY. It's a weird choice.

          That being said, one can believe that someone outside of their faith can be good at a secular job. What these students will have to choose on election day is which of the canidates most closely resemble their political beliefs, not their religous beliefs. As the one student above said, they chose to go to that school because of their religous beliefs, not their political beliefs. All the "no religious test" for president means is that religion can't disqualify you from running for office, not that a potential voter can't use that as part of their decision making process. Hell I can choose to not vote for Romney because I don't like his hair for crying our loud. I am sure that there will still be plenty of conservative Christians still voting for Romney because he is the GOP canidate. Those that choose not to vote for him in the general election for religious reasons are not likely to vote for Obama. It's possible they could swing to Paul, but that's not likely to net anything meaningful for them.

          At the end of the day though, it's highly unlikely that the GOP canidate will be able to defeat Obama. They didn't run any decent canidates that would have had a good chance in a general election, anyone with any sort of charisma and talent is hiding out until 2016. Romney only won because he was the least crazy guy running. The GOP knows it isn't going to win the presidency, even if they won't admit it. They will, however, likely win the Senate and keep the House. Their long term plan is going to be to render Obama powerless by blocking him with the legislature. That's what Democrats should be worried about IMO,

          Actually the upholding of the Arizona law will be welcomed by the millions of legal immigrants who did what they should to get here legally. This will also make the Muslims, terrorists of other countries, etc come in some other way at lease until all the other border states enforce similar laws.           The protest against Romney has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with the fact that even Christian Religions have thier faults. Southern Baptists believe no one who isn't a Baptist will go to heaven. Something I've always though was just plan stupid.

          The students are all Baptist and are protesting Romney simply because he is a Morman. Something I think is pretty non-Christian. So stop trying to use it for politics, it is just a misinformed bunch of people who think for God knows what reason they and thier religion are the be all, end all. You would think with the world's recent experiences with the Islamists would make them re-think that position.

          Come to think of it, maybe a lot of them are Democrats since they also think they are the Saviors of the World. All three are seriously diluded.

          I agree, I don't really understand what the problem is. I'm pretty disgusted at Liberty University! This is one of the main things that turns me off to Christianity. There is clearly a disconnect with these people and their belief system. I don't believe that the majority of Christians in the U.S. walk the walk anymore. I know some that do but they are surely in the minority! I love my Christian friends and we love to debate but things never get ugly because we respect each other's opinions like these students should from the GOP presidential nominee and business man.

          These students are totally off base with their outrage. They should be honored that the potential (hopefully not) future POTUS will be speaking at their commencement ceremony!

It's a simpleton's way of describing the breakdown in the senate, even though the D's never had more than 59 senators (if you count Bernie Sanders vote, Lieberman was NOT voting with the D's, no way, no how) and you need 60 to break a filibuster (which the R's used at every single occasion). Hell, even when they had 59 votes, it was only for a very brief time (a couple of months) due to the Coleman/Franken recount and Ted Kennedy dying.

            At no point during Obama's Presidency did the D's have enough votes to break a filibuster, period, end of discussion. That doesn't necessarily excuse Obama for relatively weak leadership, but no, the D's did not have a filibuster proof majority, ever!

              It's actually pretty much common knowledge. This was, in fact, part of the reason behind the Real ID push a couple of years back and what differentiates regular ID's from "Enhanced ID's".

              Each different state has their own requirements, and many of them are merely residency requirements (i.e., you must prove you live in the state only, not citizenship). In addition, in the wake of SB1070 and the RealID act many states have begun to change their licensing requirements (Maryland for example). The gray area with Driver's license and citizenship requirements is also why travel advisory boards cautioned traveler's to Arizona to bring a passport or birth certificate with them in case their state issued Driver's license did not meet SB1070's citizenship requirements.

              I don't care to take the time to sort out which states require citizenship or not, but suffice it to say, I'm not BS'ing you here. A driver's license does not necessarily prove you are a US citizen depending upon the state that issued it.

                I'm not so sure that calling Romney a Christian is as cut and dried and you say. It depends on what you think a Christian is. That really opens a very deep subject. Is someone a Christian just because they say they are? Is it a prerequisite to really know what the Bible says first? If someone is apostate, are they still Christian? If they espouse beliefs that conflict with the Bible, does that invalidate their Christian claim? In the case of Romney- or more specifically, the Mormons- the crux of the problem lies with the Book of Mormons. One of the last verses of the Bible is a dire warning to anyone who "takes away or adds to" the Bible. Many who study this issue say that the Book of Mormon does just that and that many of its teachings directly contradict the teachings of Jesus Christ, such as monogamy/polygamy. Now, who is right? It;s not for me to say, but clearly one is right and one is wrong. Kind of like the debate between Christianity and Islam. If one is correct, the other is certainly wrong. Both cannot be right. Of course, it's possible that both are wrong. But at any rate, the issue of whether or not Romney is really a Christian lies more in what a Christian really is than in what Romney is. Understand that while I have my own deeply help beliefs based on years of study, I am not attempting to be the judge here. I am simply saying that this is a more complex issue than a casual "twice a year Christian" may think.

                Most Jews and Catholics are so in name mainly( by birth) and don't generally observe all that their leaders attempt to dictate. Does that mean they are not really Jews or Catholics? I don't know. It's not for me to say, but it is a complex question that will be answered in time not by us.

The fact that the President specifically campaigned against the mandate, and then signed into law makes him a bigger flip-flopper than any current candidate who has never had the opportunity to campaign on one side of an issue and implement the opposite when in power.

                In 2010, at the height of the Recession, Maine elected a Tea Party governor and Republican majority legislature (filibuster-proof), who promised to focus on job creation.

                The Republicans in Maine proceeded to do the following:

                Banned same day voter registration, even though an investigation showed no fraud in Maine elections going back ten years. (This ban was later reversed by 60% of voters in a state referendum.)

                Tried to repeal a ban on cancer-causing chemical BPA from children's sippy cups (a chemical industry priority, apparently relayed by lobbyists).

                Maine's legislature was almost equally Dem/Rep for decades, and known for it's civility and bipartisanship. We certainly never had a filibuster-proof Democratic majority, and people worked together, for instance, to pass the ban on cancer-causing BPA in children's plastic items.

                Since 1974 we have had two Independent governors, Longley and King, two Democrats, Brennan and Baldacci, and one Republican, McKernan. The wealthiest parts of the state vote Democratic. The poorer, rural parts vote Republican. The irony is, since the state government passed into Republican hands, the folks who have been hurt the most have been the rural seniors. Portland, however, a Democratic stronghold, is doing pretty well.

                I'm always amused at the far right claiming they are the only religious in the country. No guys, you are the only religious NUTS in the country. Most of my Democratic friends believe in a higher power and actually are more Christian in their actions than Republicans are. They give contributions and volunteer their time to help those who are less fortunate - rather than calling them freeloaders, etc. We realize that there are not enough jobs to go around right now and families are hurting. We realize that more than 50% of the men and women on the street are our veterans who we as a country have not supported when they return.                   Sorry to tell you but there is no heaven. I've accepted that Jesus probably lived and died and talked about how to be kind and ethical in one's actions but he was not a deity. Heaven is something that makes human being feel better about being mortal and having to die one day. It's frightening to most people that we only get one life and if you screw it up you just end up being a screw up but that's the way it is. This is a huge universe and we have no idea what is out there but I doubt that when we die our "souls" end up in some other deminsion or something. I think, like other animals (because we are animals, decended from primates) we will donate the energy our bodies posess to the earth to be recycled because energy is never destroyed.

                  So in short, if you accept Jesus as some sort of deity, ok, but if not then I'm sure that's ok too.

                    Yeah, like giving poor and minority children a better place to study. The do-nothings killed this idea. That was a part of the budget that our magnificent president sent to the do-nothings. There was money there to build crumbling schools. You thought we weren't watching, but we got ya. I think he tore his pants with congress too. "We are going to make sure that federal workers don't earn more than the people that hire them." At least the other federal workers work, and work for America. About two thirds of congress has been on vacation with pay. But Willard and I agree on one thing: congress should not be paid more than $7.50 an hour--that might be too much!!

                    To all you Obama supporters, just take him for his word, I'll give a couple examples... If I don't turn this economy around in three years I'll be a one term President, unemployment will not go above 8%, Immigration reform first year, cut the deficit, unite the country. Don't know much about Romney, but I know what I got from Obama.

                    wlee- and you would have gotten less from Romney who has no ideas, no plans, no programs - nothing but it's "his turn." Presidential candidates always hope for the best. However, when the other party announces they will do all they can to make you a one-term President, those accomplishments suffer. No one can do it all by themselves.

                    NBC polls are using registered voters and all Americans. That is called Potential. Likely voters is who is going to actually vote.

                    Romney appears to be finding a simple message that will stick. Add to that, his VP pick of a clear conservative should put him in the lead in the key states.

                    A number of states are slowly moving to Romney, Including Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. The only thing holding Virginia in Obama's hands is polling averages right now.

                            Obama was in Iowa yesterday rallying support at the University of Iowa for lower interest rates on student loans. Instead of working with businesses to get these kids jobs he's trying to bribe them with more tax payer money. What is next for Obama? If 2 year olds could vote Obama would be visiting day cares and handing out free puppies paid for by tax payers? We need a true leader who can actually get the support of private business employers. Let's vote for a better leader in 2012.....

                            Do YOU understand that a loan given at less than the prevailing rate, if given by a private entity, is a taxable benefit? So, if your rich Aunt Tilly gives you a mortgage for 1%-or zero over cent- you must pay income tax on the benefit of not paying 4% interest on the loan?

                            You DO, also, realize that unsecured loans, which is what a Stafford loan is, given to one whose income would not qualify for the best rate, would incur an interest rate near 7%? That the differential in interest rates must be paid by the taxpayer? That the reason for the higher rate is the default rate on those loans? That the taxpayer picks up the tab for the defaults?

                            That Obama never bothered to vote for this rate break? It came up twice while he was in the Senate.

                            He was too busy campaigning to vote for it. NOW he brings it up? When there was never a question about extending the more favorable rate- only about how to pay for it?

                            I don't think you understand, Nashville. This administration has pumped trillions of dollars into the ecomomy, and has kept interest rates low. Unfortunately, the trillions were spent on things that did not sustain job growth, and the only ones that could qualify for the loans at the low rates were big businesses. Those big businesses, including General Motors who was bailed out by us, are using the money to expand overseas where there is a better business climate. So, if you like Obama's policies, look for a job with an American company in China or India.

                            In the mean time, printing all that money has sunk the value of the dollar. Things that we buy in the international market such as food and energy will go up in dollars even more than, say, yuan. This makes the price that Americans pay go up more without income rising. On the other hand, when the dollar sinks, every GPB, Euro, Yuan, Yen, or Canadian Dollar that an international company earns is worth more US dollars, making their earnings look better. This makes their stock rise, and makes their stock options more valuable. If you are happy with Obama's policies favoring the 1% like this, then we should reelect him so this continues.

                            Sorry No Joe--if your aunt gives you a low interest rate loan, she has made a gift to you. You don't have income to pay tax on, you have received a gift, which is not subject to the income tax.

                            Seems to me that making it easier to repay the loans by charging a lower interest rate makes it more likely that both the principal and some interest will be repaid. Sounds like a win to me.

                            Well, Nashville, I am sorry that you feel that way. What I know is that I have been fortunate to stay employed during the last 3 years, but the company I work for hasn't been doing well (we sell into the transportation industry), so I have not seen wage increases. I have seen huge increases in gasoline, utility rates, college tuition, food costs, and local taxes. When I bought my home, I had a down payment of over 30% of the sales price, which was below the assessed value. Now, I cannot refinance without paying down more of the loan, because the balance on this original loan is more than 80% of the new assessed value. Where is the money going to come from?

                            My company is not hiring, nor are they looking at investing money in the company because new regulations that will make it more expensive to do business. On the other hand, they may find it necessary to reduce costs by paying the health care fine, and putting all of us on the Government health care system. I have medical problems, and I am not 20, so I am not sure if I would be eligible for treatment unless I carried additional insurance, or paid it out of pocket. Where is the money going to come from to pay for that?

                            I don't expect any sympathy, because I know somehow we will make it. But I want you to know that what some of you snot nosed kids with no life experience call bull@#$" is what we in the middle class are living.

                            The rate cut is a good idea and both candidates agree. So why are you arguing about it? College is higher education and while I agree everyone should have the opportunity to attend college, some folks aren't cut out for college. If every American earned a college degree where would we all work? Who would want to drive a garbage truck or dig ditches if they had a college degree? Why some kids don't even finish high school. While we are wishing good things for everyone, why don't we wish everyone was rich? Why has the cost of a college education risen 700% since 1980 when inflation has gone up 160%? Why are we bashing big oil for raising gas prices? We should be bashing colleges for ripping us off!

                            Colleges charge what the market will bear. When my son lost his scholarship at a private college, according the government, we qualified for student loans to make up for them. Of course he would have graduated with a BA in Theater and $70,000 in debt. He's now at a public school.

                            Until the government does something about how they administer the money that they make available for college, the colleges will charge whatever they want, and they will get paid. Whether their graduates can pay the loans is not their problem.

                              Roger - don't know who you've been talking to but you could easily refinance the mortgage on your home. You can refinance up to 105% of the value which should make your payments easier each month.

                              As for the rest of your post - nonsense. All of us in the workplace have seen changes but companies are still hiring and beginning to expand again. And, the new healthcare bill will make your pre-existing condition covered under any insurance policy.

                              Good luck with the medical situation. It is something that can hit anyone at any time and it's tough to deal with.

                              Nashville, I don't buy the claim that all Republicans, or all Democrats for that matter, are the same. Obama isn't a Bill Clinton (too bad), and Clinton wasn't a Jimmy Carter (whew!). George W. Bush was no Reagan, and wasn't even the same as his father. At least when his father took us to war, we met our objective and stopped ... even though many in both parties criticized him for "not finishing the job".

                              The Obama administration has paid a lot of lip service about being for the people, but has only helped the 1% that are loyal to him. GM is a great example. Rhetoric would lead us to believe that jobs were saved with the bailout, but GM could have operated while reorganizing in bankrupcy. The Unions did okay in getting a piece of the company, but the rank and file lost out. There are still a lot of unemployed autoworkers here in Ohio. Maybe if they didn't get so much government money, GM would have been forced to build Buicks in some of the plants they shut down in the US and exported them to China. With their government funds, they are building a plant in China to make Buicks. This only helps the rank and file if they can move to China. As far as the GM bosses, well the Treasury Dept. just approved a $7.7million pay package for the CEO. So much for the 99%. Can a Repbulican be any worse?

                              I don't think that either party has the stomach to stop a good thing to prevent a bubble. The government supported the Y2K scare which resulted in the tech bubble; both parties liked the housing boom because everybody was happy. The American dream with no money down. The next bubble, or at least on that will be coming up soon, is the pension bubble. If the government tries to spend our way out of that, which tends to be the Obama approach, we will all get some retirement, but we won't be able to buy anything with it. The only beneficiaries of this kind of policy will be the very rich, and large, international corporations ... the very entities Obama is encouraging us to hate.

                              This is why I am willing to give Romney a chance. I think he is smart enough to figure out a way to make government more efficient in delivering the goods and services we expect. While compared to Obama, everyone looks conservative, I don't believe that Romney is a hard core conservative. I don't expect him to pull a Santorum and go after social issues. I also don't think he will be so aggressive in debt reduction as to destroy either the social safety nets, or the environment, but won't be as radical as Obama, who is trashing the business climate.

                              The course we're on is not working, and I don't fear another approach as much as staying the course.

                              Hope that answers your question on why I would support a Republican.

                              I appreciate you taking the time to share your views. What I do not understand however is why you consider President Obama to be so "radical". Seems to me that businesses, and the stock market, are doing quite well under President Obama, even as they whine and complain about his every move.

                              Maybe I am just confused, but wasn't the Republican Party running the show for much of the past decade? And didn't we end up with a collapsing job and housing market and record debt under their leadership? So how is it that you so conveniently lay blame for all of this at President Obama's feet?

                              As far as Mitt Romney goes, I am going to need some specifics from him. He has proven himself as only believing in one thing - himself. That is not the type of person we need as President in my humble opinion.

                                        Democrats need to be very aware and smart about what is happening in Wisc. Like the Spanish Civil War, this is going to be a precursor of what the GOP and groups will spend and can do in November. If they are willing to spend 2 to 1 or more on this weasel in a state that they aren't going to carry in November, then imagine what they will do in states like Colorado or New Hampshire. If Karl Rove can scare his fat cats to give until it hurts by his claim that Obama will have a $billion dollars, then Dems need to understand that this election will require a great deal of sacrifice in real time and real money. The guy at the other end of the poker table is going all in. If we fold, we lose no matter what cards we hold.

                                        Lost nothing in wages is not the same as losing nothing. Remember the question should be, not why do they have pensions, but why don't you? Teachers' pensions were sacrificed because of a few (very few) abuses by school boards and cushy deals with admins who were simply following (taking advantage of) the rules that the legislators had passed. A $40,000/year teacher and their union have no interest in contributing union money to legislator's campaigns, just to see some school admin with his/her Ph.D retire at 50 with a six figure pension. The many were sacrificed for the sins of the few. Wal-Mart paid bribes to Mexico and tried to cover it up. Why don't you go to your local Wal-Mart store and demand a percentage back on all the stuff you bought for the last 6 years, because you did not voluntarily contribute money to them to give to Mexican officials.

In every election since 1964 the uncommitted vote went 100% against the encumbent EXCEPT GW Bushes 2nd election when he took the uncommitted vote.                                         If one looks at the policies of both sides, the one that claims to be helping women is doing them more harm.

                                        More women are going to college, and with policies that hurt private enterprise, these college graduate women are not going to be able to find jobs at the levels of their skills.

                                        More women are small business owners, but policies of increased regulation and requirements are hurting those businesses. Laws passed to improve loan quality are making access to funds needed by businesses hard to get. Taxes may increase on those who own S Corporations. Women are being prevented from realizing economic benefit from small business ownership by current administration policies.

                                        The people who claim to protect women are actually hurting women's health by doggedly pushing for funding a $1.2 Billion organization called Planned Parenthood. Supporters of "women's rights" trashed the $350M Komen Foundation, which supports preventing and curing a serious women's health issue, to force it to maintain support of PP that equaled less than 0.006% of the PP annual revenue, even though PP does not even do mamograms. The HHS department held up Womens Health Grants to the State of Texas because PP was not allowed to participate. They would rather have no support for women's health than see their $1.2 billion friend miss a handout. This was at the expense of clinics throughout the state (not just in the major metro areas where PP is consentrated) that would offer more complete women's health service than PP provides.

                                        With $1.2 Billion in revenue (as listed in their 2009-2010 financial statement), Planned Parenthood could easily do their own fundraising, and not compete with local providers for government funding.

                                        So who is really waging a war on women? Those who support policies that will give women a chance to succeed in the marketplace and advocate that womens health support be available more widely, or those who insist that money must be funneled to Planned Parenthood at any cost?

                                        Bishop the Flip Flopper Romney will not win. His own base is already saying they will stay at home. With member of the Mormon church calling him a Bishop do you really think he will continue to support separation of church and state. His wife believes is their turn. I challenge you to find a single political analyst, and Al Sharpton doesn't count, who thinks the Democrats will win the House. They have no chance and even the NY Times did an article last week stating as much. The futures market currently has the Dems chances of taking the House at a stellar 25%. When it comes to Congress, the only question is whether the Democrats will be able to keep their majority there. Again, you will not find a single political analyst who doesn' t think the Republicans will gain seats.

                                        As for the separation of church and state, that has to be one of the stupidest quotes I have ever read on this site. If you knew anything about the Mormon church, you would know that half of the members are called Bishops. Those teenagers that annoy everyone by knocking on doors are called Elders by the church. Moreover, Romney is constrained by the First Amendment. Seriously, the arguments being put forth against Romney have become moronic if someone is mentioning the separation of church and state. Such nonsense reminds me of the claims that John F. Kennedy would take his orders from the pope because he was a devout Catholic.

                                        As for Ann Romney hiring nannies, that bullsh*% has been thoroughly debunked. Why is it that those on the left seem to so completely parrot each other's talking points? I have read that ridiculous nanny charge a million times now.                                         Having been raised in the Mormon church, let me point out some inaccuracies in your post. Number one, not "half" of the members of the church are bishops. There is only one per "ward" aka district. A larger town may have several wards. Each one has a bishop. The bishop is usually the most wealthy man in the ward because Mormons are big money whores. A person who has a big Mormon name like Romney, Smith or Young will also be a bishop (our bishop was a Romney). The church will make sure he has money.

                                        An elder can be any man in the church but women are forbidden.Young men usually become Elders when they leave on their "mission". Women are second class citizens in the church and are not allowed to hold the "priesthood", as in keeping with the true nature of cults. Women were finally allowed to give the prayers in services in the late 70's, when the church caved in a little bit due to feminist issues. They had been allowing black people to be baptized but were not allowing the men to hold the priesthood until recent years when they again caved into pressure about racism. Suddenly "God" changed his mind about racism when was apparent members were dropping away. With membership dropping, the church became desperate and decided it needed black people's money and it needed to be more politically correct. So Mitt Romney's flip floppy nature was born in the Mormon church where eveything is okay if you are rich, pretty and have a big Mormon name. Whatever YOU want to be true will become true due to the Mormon's narcissistic way of magical thinking.

                                        In case you can't tell I left the church when I left home and never looked back. Since then they have hunted me down like an animal.

                                        This is the pig the republicans want in the White House. They don't even know him. Mormons do NOT recognize ANY other Christian faith so if you aren't a Mormon, you barely exist to Mitt.

                                                    Obama has figured out that all churches are BS but he has to pretend to like Christians because 70% of Americans identify as Christian.                                                     Jehovah usually needs a hebrew adjective descriptive to more narrowly define what the person using such hebrew is attempting to decribe such as Jehovah-Rapha (the one who heals) there's over 20 meanings trying to describe attributes of God to a finite man attempting to personalize God. Somewhat similar is a term Yahweh, the ancients removed the vowels when writing it to say YHWH, thinking that writing the full name would bring a curse or judgement, kind of like an Indiana Jones Raiders of the lost ark type of thing, who knows what they were thinking.Elohim is another word which describes God from a power-creator perspective, It's all mind boggling and a very difficult language to fully appreciate. All I know is Jehovah didn't create this national debt at 16 trillion and Obama didn't do it single handedly either.

                                                              I myself would love a Blue State succession with President Obama as our leader.
