As he traveled to three swing states this week to talk about student loan costs, President Barack Obama has been turning the words of Republican members of Congress against them in order to underscore, as the president characterizes it, their indifference to the struggles of college students.
Tuesday, Obama paraphrased Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-NC, who said in a radio interview that she has “very little tolerance for people who tell me that they graduate with $200,000 of debt or even $80,000 of debt because there’s no reason for that.”
She went on to say, “I remind folks all the time that the Declaration of Independence says, ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’ You don’t just sit on your butt and have it dumped in your lap.”
Speaking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the president said he would quote Foxx’s remarks, “because I know you guys will think I'm making it up.”
“She said she had ‘very little tolerance for people who tell me they graduate with debt because there's no reason for that,’” Obama said, even though he left out the amount of student debt Foxx said she did not tolerate students accumulating.
NRO’s Katrina Trinko pointed to a study by the New York Federal Reserve that showed the average outstanding student loan nationally was $23,300 and almost 95 percent of student loan borrowers owed less than $75,000, so Foxx’s remarks referred to a small number of debtors.
Obama also cited Foxx at his next speech at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
“She said, students who rack up student loan debt are just sitting on their butts, having opportunity ‘dumped in your lap.’”
“I can tell you, Michelle and I, we didn't take out loans because we were lazy,” he continued to laughter. “You didn't take out loans because you're lazy.”
At his final speech Wednesday at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Obama quoted from Rep. Todd Akin, R-MO, who was asked during a Senate debate (he’s seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill) whether he would vote on a bill to keep student loan interest rates from increasing in July.
Akin responded, "America has got the equivalent of the stage three cancer of socialism because the federal government is tampering in all kinds of stuff it has no business tampering in. So, first to answer your question precisely – what the Democrats did to get rid of the private student loans and take it all over by the government was wrong. It was a lousy bill. That's why I voted no."
Obama made use of Akin’s words today, telling the Iowa students, “You've got one member of Congress who compared these student loans -- I'm not kidding here -- to a ‘stage-three cancer of socialism.’”
“Stage-three cancer? I don't know where to start. What do you mean? What are you talking about? Come on. Just when you think you've heard it all in Washington, somebody comes up with a new way to go off the deep end,” he said.
Obama’s Iowa speech came just hours before House Speaker John Boehner announced his caucus’ plan to introduce their own bill to extend the current 3.4 percent interest rate for one year to prevent it from rising to 6.8 percent.
Boehner’s office said the extension would be paid for by re-allocating college financial aid funds that were diverted by Democrats to pay for the health care law.
“In essence, they raided student aid to pay for a health care law that is making it harder for American small businesses to hire new workers – including recent college graduates,” Boehner’s office said in a statement.

Ryan Budget...hang it around the neck of every Norquist bowing teabrained conservative until it sinks them...
Move back to Greece.
That's hilarious, mhrjhn. You know, since Greece is in trouble precisely because of their very own Ryan Plan. In fact, governments in Europe are falling over their variations of the Ryan Plan, since they have been sending their countries back into recession.
Yet, Ryan and Romney and every other @!$%#ing Republican are too stupid to see the proof of their stupidity while it's playing out live before their very eyes.
You are a master of unintended irony, I'm guessing.
I agree with David. Students today are not using their noggin. Start at UPS as a packer, get their tuition assistance to go to college. Once you get the degree, apply for the manager's job.
Why does Obama hide information about his student loan (how much, source, and how paid back)? Is there a reason he is hiding this? He talks a good game - but did he actually have a student loan or did another source fund Columbia and Harvard?
exactly ^
This is a new one for me. What evidence to you have that Obama is hiding this informatiion? Sounds more like the Birther nonsense to me. Why would we care how he paid for his education?
Much of his past is hidden, including his records from college. I can't even apply for a job without turning over my transcripts. Employers are interested to know how it was paid for. I even authorize my credit report to be checked....this can prove my money management skills. He is re-applying for the job of president, but we don't even know his background. He goes around telling college students that he can relate to them having loans since he's been there. There's no proof of this. All the while he whines that Romney won't turn over more years of tax returns.
Z: "The Obamas will not release any student loan details despite repeated requests from the Chicago Tribune." (Western Journalism.com).
Why care? He is making a big deal of it in his speeches to the Obamateers. What is he/she hiding or is he lying? That's all.
IOW, Zorro, there apparently isn't any actual evidence, just the sort of urban legend bull@!$%# that happens when one @!$%# repeats what another @!$%# said on the internet, and so on.
What else is Osama al-Barack Hussein Obama Mohammed, II hiding?
He will not unseal his medical records, his school records, his birth records (except the fake ones), is Harvard records, his Columbia College records, his Columbia College thesis (if he actually wrote one?), his Occidental College records, his legislative records from the Illinois State Senate are missing, and his school records for the elite K-12 college prep school, the Punahou School in Hawaii and his passport records. Why has he spent over $1.4 million on attorney fees to block access to these documents? What is he hiding beside his so called student loan debt?
JC: do you have evidence that you can produce these documents? Waiting for your next response from the Barry Soetoro Coloring Book of Internet Responses for the Usefull Idiots.
As the redhead stated. Let their words hang them.
From Sen. Obama’s Floor Speech, March 20, 2006:
The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here.” Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.
At the time, Senator Obama was urging Congress not to tolerate an increase that would bring the debt ceiling to $9 trillion.
How many times has Obama gone before Congress to get the debt ceiling raised after he created the debt crises at the beginning of August, 2011? The last time he was successful in getting the debt ceiling raised to $16.7 trillion.
Obama not only purchased the rope, he tied the knot in which to hang himself.
Lessee, Reagan got the debt ceiling raised, what, 18 or 19 times?
I think President Obama has a way to go before he comes close to that record.
Lol let's not blame any of this mess on the republicans who have blocked just about every bill that the President has proposed.
From day one the republicans had no interest of working with the President, it's sad because we all know it's because he's black and we could never let a black man save our country from ruin.
But we are not dumb and in the new America where the social media has brought the world a lot closer and has made the majority of Americans really see what's going on.
All I know is that the republicans better be worried because we're going to take the house and senate.
Just imagine how much better off we would be today had the repukes had actually worked with the President and the other members of congress for the greater good of all American rather than their on agenda of making President Obama a 1 term President.
OH john you are so uninformed its shameful. Obama didn't have any problems passing Obamacare even though not one Republican voted for it.
How could the Republicans block Obama tax reforms with democratic control of Congress and with the ability to get his tax reform passed as easily as Obamacare. Strange that Obama didn't even bother to proposes his tax reform to Congress when he had democratic control of congress.
So John, maybe you can explain why Obama waited until he lost control of the House to the republicans to propose his tax reform to congress for the first time. After all he knew it wouldn't pass, so it seems his so called tax reform is more of a campaign stunt, than an actual desire to get his tax reform into law.
The republicans are not against keeping the student loan rates where they are; they are looking for a way to pay for it.
Unlike the democrats who want to spend billions of dollars on the failing Post Office without caring how to pay for it.
Pay for WHAT, exactly, m, etc.? For the extra interest the government would not receive on the loans that the government is already not receiving now?
If you could pay attention, you would know that the Dems have already proposed a way to "pay" for this non-existent "cost" by closing a minor tax loophole.
Do you really just go through life regurgitating everything you hear on the AM radio, like you do here? Is there much money in that?
Wow. President Obama repeated words from a Republican which I hadn't heard before. I don't see a reason for accumulating that kind of debt in school either. I worked my ass off in high school and while I was in college to stay debt free. I didn't use student loans like an unlimited credit card like a lot of my friends. I happen to agree with the person who made those comments and it reinforces my decision to vote straight ticket Republican this year.
I was a little confused also why there was any controversy in the paraphrases. I think personal responsibility should be the goal.
Lets get these word IN-------House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Thursday endorsed a movement announced by other congressional Democrats on Wednesday to ratify an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would allow Congress to regulate political speech when it is engaged in by corporations as opposed to individuals.
[...]
Pelosi said the Democrats’ effort to amend the Constitution is part of a three-pronged strategy that also includes promoting the DISCLOSE Act, which would increase disclosure requirements for organizations running political ads, and “reducing the role of money in campaigns” (which some Democrats have said can be done through taxpayer funding of campaigns).
The constitutional amendment the Democrats seek would reverse the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. In that decision the court said that the First Amendment protects a right of free speech for corporations as well as for individuals, and that corporations (including those that produce newspapers, films and books) have a right to speak about politicians and their records just as individuals do.-
Nancy Pelosi: We need to revise that whole ‘free speech’ part of the Constitution
By Doug Powers • April 20, 2012 12:55 PM
This is an indicator that Nancy Pelosi supports Obama and his efforts to lay down the foundations for a military take over of our Constitutional government.
After all Obama has said that he wants the government to take control over Internet and other forms communication.
In any take over of a government, one of the fist things you need to do is gain and have control of public Communications outlets like the Internet.
Too bad people don't hold themselves to "Responsible Speech" isn't it? --- From the days of the Garden of Eden to the days of the Old Wild West & today people have been held to "Responsible Speech"
You saw what happened to Ted Nugent the cowardly un-American draft dodger didn't you? ---- Our military won't let him preform any more concerts because of his totally ignorant irresponsible speech
Say the wrong thing in your church, you'll get kicked out & told not to come back
grounded,,,,, Tell me please, why don't republicans & independents believe in "Moral" & "Responsible Speech" or hold themselves accountable for hate & dishonest speech?
Republicans know that immoral speech or hate speech has consequences...at least when it comes from one of us. I can't say as much for when it comes from the left...usually is just met with applause. Why would we want Congress regulating our speech? That's insane.
If adults can't control their immoral insults who should stop it? The people?
Congress is the "People" or was until the republicans gave us Citizens United & Romney proudly proclaimed "THE CORPORATION IS THE PEOPLE, MY FRIEND"
Jim
Why do Obama supporters and democrats refuse to get informed about the people they support.
Here are some indicators that show Obama is laying down the foundation for a military take over of our Constitutional Government.
1. Obama doesn't believe in the constitution. He said it out lived it usefulness.
2. Obama is using Executive Orders to manipulate his way around Constitutional checks and balances.
3. IN March, Obama issued an Executive Order giving himself the authority to declare Marshall Law at his discretion.
4. On December 31,2011 Obama signed a Bill into law that gives the military the authority to detain indefinitely for any reason any American Citizen on American soil without having to provide that citizen with their Constitutional protections.
5. Obama administration supports the principle that a military Authority aren't required to provide constitutional protections to anyone.
6. Obama has stated that he wants to create a civilian military police force to deal with domestic issues and will only answers to the President.
7. Obama has said that he wants the government to take over control of the Internet and other forms of commutation.
8. Obama signed a Bill into law that make peaceful protest a Federal crime.
9. its been reported that internment camps are being built in the South.
History has taught us that its these indicator someone will need if they are going to have a successful take over of a government.
There are more, but these few indicators paint a good picture. All it would take for a military take over is a good excuse like a never ending debt crises that destroys our economy.
Jim, I gave you an answer in my reply. Its a shame that you want limits on freedom of speech.
N Loves,,,, Nobody from the beginning of human conversation has ever had the total freedom of speech you folks demand
Say the wrong thing in the Old Wild West & you could get shot.... In Colonial Boston people were hung in the Boston Commons for public preaching.... Say the wrong thing in church or school & you will be punished or kicked out
In the Garden of Eve God turned Lilith into a serpent for her asking for a divorce from Adam
Nobody has ever had the total "Freedom of Speech" you demand & it's ludicrous & irresponsible to demand it
I never demanded anything. I simply said that we already have consequences (as you have confirmed in your reply).
Jim
Oh but Jim, we have since the founding of our country. Since you apparently don't know this, our Constitution gives us this freedom of speech.
Just look are the man you support. He tells the American people what he thinks they want to hear without having to back up any of it.
This is a right that is protected by the Constitution and he uses it to the fullest for his own gain even though he believes the Constitution has out lived it usefulness.
what happened,,,, Nope, our courts hold you liable to speech & always have
Our military just held Ted Nugent the cowardly draft dodger accountable for his ignorant irresponsible rants.... He's no longer allowed to give concerts
consequences, Jim. Free speech has consequences. If you threaten to kill someone, you can suffer the consequences. If you sall Sandra Fluke a slut there are consequences. This already exists. How dare the Congress butt in and "regulate" speech. No political ads unless they get the approval of the majority party.....that is not a free country.
N Loves,, That's part of the point I was trying to make... Speech has consequences, even under the law
On that whole Sandra Fluke issue, I think Congressmen should have been punished on the floor of Congress for their lack of responsibility & irate ignorance who tried to diminish her character
Jim, why don't you checkout newsbusters.org to see what comments comes out the democrats mouths and then let us know if you are still 'outraged' by some the non-Obama supporters. Until then, you should keep your mouth closed.
I've been waiting a long time for Obama to start calling out the GOP's crazy rhetoric on him being a socialist, etc. Too bad he has to stoop to that level, but so many in this country by the GOP lies that he needs to start responding to them.
The words he repeated are words that plenty of us agree with. I'd like to see him repeating more statement made by Republicans. The more we get the message out, the more votes for Republicans.
I think it's about time, republicans have been attacking the President with ludicrous unsupported insults from day 1
Romney still defeats Romney.... He's taken every side on every issue & still can't be a conservative
OBAMA -- BIDEN 2012 ----- TAKING OUR NATION FORWARD
Akin's "stage three cancer of socialism" comment reveals his profound ignorance. If he knew anything about socialism, he would know that there is no connection between socialism and government supplied student loans. He clearly has no clue what socialism is and isn't. So if you are going to vote for someone as deeply ignorant as Akin, all I can say is: that is par for the course. That's what Republican voters do; they for ignoramuses.
^that is grand coming from the party who's backbone is the leeches of society and the people who want to keep them there.

It seems that you stupid donkeys don't know what socialism is. Or maybe you are government trolls getting paid by the taxpayers to spread your lies.
I took college courses in political science and know exactly what socialism is. But simply going by your definitions above, I fail to see any connection between socialism and government supplied student loans. And of course, you failed to point out any. But you did engage in a lot of baseless name calling, e.g., "stupid donkeys," "government trolls," and "lies" (what lies are you talking about?). As a result, you come across as a typical, dime-a-dozen right wing fool who is extremely unconvincing.
My guess is that you did not do well in those PoliSci classes if you don't see that government control of the student loan program falls under the category of socialism.
As for the lies: taking snip-its of a persons conversation and twisting what they say makes it a lie.
Obama has been going around all this week saying the republicans are looking to raise the interest rates on student loans has been a lie. Not one republican has said this.
Oh, for @!$%#'s sake, mhr, raising student loan rates is right in Paul Ryan's budget, which Mittens has enthusiastically endorsed and nearly every Republican member of Congress has voted for at one time or another.
What is it with Republican douches that they can't even keep their bull@!$%# straight?
What's in the Democrats budget? Oh yes NOTHING as the Democrats have not produced a budget in YEARS.
April 29th will mark 3 years since Senate Democrats passed a budget.
This dereliction of duty flagrantly violates the 1974 Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act. "On or before April 15 of each year, the Congress shall complete action on a concurrent resolution on the budget for the fiscal year" the statute states. Senate Democrats could not care less about this federal law.
"We do not need to bring a budget to the floor this year. It's done. We don't need to do it." Harry Reid, Feb 3, 2012
You go first, Shellback; you've been trying to deflect from the question at hand with this bull@!$%# all thread long.
See if you can't, just this once, man up and answer the question on the table.
John (The Drunk) Boehner need to Prove his comment. They think they can just say anything and get away with it.... that's an Alcoholis for ya! lol!!
MOm 100
Takling about thinking they can say anything and get away with it. One phony politican's 2006 speech on the Senate floor really put a large smile on my face as it shows what a phoney he really is. Its so good I want to share it with you.
From Sen. Obama's Floor Speech, March 20, 2006:
The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills. At the time, Senator Obama was urging Congress not to tolerate an increase that would bring the debt ceiling to $9 trillion.
Looks like Obama is describing his leadership skills to a tee. Obama's last of many requests for raises of the debtceiling was successful and got the debt ceiling raised to $16.7 trillion.
Not bad considering that his never ending debt crises is still going on and he hasn't done anything to correct it for 7 months. Now, how did Obama describe his feeling about raising the debt ceiling, "Americans deserve better."
the new discriptive word for POTUS in my playground is "Bamajive"
The Repugs/Tea Baggers want to be sure that the 99% cannot afford higher education. Why? So that the 1% dont have to worry about the 99% bettering themselves and possibly becoming more of the 1% and creating competition. We are the peons in their eyes now, and they want to keep us that way. No education, no good jobs... their problems are solved.
What total and utter bull@!$%# the Repugs/Tea Baggers fling. When are we all going to realize they dont want us to succeed, get a good advanced education and better ourselves. They make me sick to be honest. Boot all Repugs/Tea Baggers out of office in this next election.
Obama.... 4 more years!!!
That education can start with grades K-12. I don't see the left trying to help that at all. They just kick and scream for the teacher's unions when the Republicans try to get vouchers for the poor kids. Obama's kids can go to private school, but God forbid the poor kids in DC get to go....even when it would cost the taxpayers less.
The Republicons, voucher program, is a joke. Do you even know the price of a good private school. No $5,000 is going to get a child into a good school. I have worked for people who have sent their children to private schools, that charge, up to $12,000 a year. Teachers give a lot to the students, they teach. The Republicons, attacking them, is ridiculious, they do a good job. I know a few teachers, who don't make that much. The starting pay for one is the state of Washington, is only $24,000 a year, and I make more than that a year as a nanny, with just a high school diploma. Obama's kids go to private, school, because they are the president's kids, and they need sceret service protection. He also pays for his children's school. The public school system, with all its problems, is still better, than most of the rest of the worlds.
Someone needs to remind Boehner that the worst part of our economic collapse was during the 4th quarter of 2008 ----- On the Republican Watch!
And we have been stuck there for four years.
Nope,,, Nobody can honestly say we have been stuck there for 4 years, there has been too much progress over the last 2 years to make a claim like that
Is the economy still delicate? Hell yes it is --- The 2007 Economic Collapse went Global & was catastrophic on a larger scale than the Great Depression was
Wrong, try fact checking....
Fact check this Wildman! ----- Our economy survived the worst recession in our history,,, No more Tax Payer Bail Outs which Romney will reverse... A auto industry saved which Romney would have killed,,, Banks saved,,, our Free Market is growing strong
Tell Boehner to stop his electioneering politics & do his frigging job! If he doesn't automatic huge cuts will take place & create a huge problem for our economy
Jim
Someone needs to remind Obama that he was elected to grown our economy, not create a never ending debt crises.
In the seven months since Obama create his never ending debt crises he has just made it worse, not better. How many times has Obama requested and got the debt ceiling raised?
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know what will happen with the debt crises if Obama gets 4 more years. He'll keep raising the debt ceiling until he can no longer get any foreign nation to lend him money and it bankrupts his government.
Obama would do what Reagan did --- Extend the debt limit as every President has done
No short term solution on debt problems, but their are on preventing more problems & those began with long term policies directed at reducing long term spending
Now it's on the lap of Congress to take action before the Debt Committees cuts take affect ---- That's the job of Congress & not the President's
What a difference four years make. Yes We Can has become Bush's fault, I inherited the mess, I did not know how bad things really were, tsunami, automation, Arab spring and bad Republicans. What it boils down to is Obama's core belief that American consumerism is bad, the cause of all the world's problems. We burn too much energy. You cannot jump start the economy if you don't want people to buy things and drive on weekends. You make it as hard as possible for people to consume. That is what a good liberal does. And that is why we have high unemployment, high food stamp recipients and high debt.
Obama misrepresented what she said. Go to factcheck dot org to get the facts and how he twisted her words to fit his narrative.
MSNBC by now is surely aware of this.
Even so, I don't feel sorry for people who accumulate a bunch of debt. I saw my peers taking out hefty loans and using money for things other than school....living expenses, clothing, spring break trips, partying. They never worked before or during college. They didn't go into it not knowing the price. That was a decade ago. I graduated debt free because I worked for it and didn't take out loans. Some of them are still paying off those loans and are further in debt.
Think of it this way,, unless you help children go to college & do what ever you can do to support families & children "THE CHRISTIAN WAY" by supporting a national policy for education & college to help the ones who can't afford it ,,,, more Americans will be denied basic rights to good education & the "AMERICAN DREAM"
Dumbasses will keep voting for dumbasses simply because they lack education & that is not good for the economic & foreign policy future of the United States or our national security
I don't follow what you are talking about. Taxes already go into state Universities. Are you saying that the students have no responsibility in paying a portion of it. Should college be free for the student?
I paid my own. I didn't get any loans or help from my family. I was not denied anything. The opportunity was there and I took it.
Jim
Education isn't a right, its a benefit of a civilized nation. A nation that recognized the benefits it will reap by having its citizens educated.
So, do we deny education as Romney wants & become an "Uncivilized Nation"?
Nope, that idea will kill the "Great American Dream" for millions of innocent Americans
You are making stuff up again, Jim. Romney never said that he wanted to deny education. In his speech this week he slammed Obama for not allowing poor kids in bad school districts to have private school vouchers. Obama is the one who doesn't care about education for anyone other than his own daughters.
This man Obama is truly pathetic. He misquotes and takes statements out of context consistently and the press never calls him out on it. These people did not say what he said they said if you put the whole statement in its context. This is just one example of the many dishonest things this man does all the time. He is a proven liar (health care bill just to name only one) and he is always hiding what he does from the public because he knows what he is doing is wrong and the citizenry would not approve. So he goes to colleges where the students have minds of mush and believe anything a "cool" dude tells them, never bothering to actually find out if what he says is a lie, which it usually is.
Time for the adults to be put back in charge and get rid of this man-child.
wildman,,, You are still having trouble accepting Obama's birth certificate, aren't you?
Jim, are you having a problem with a birth certificate? Wildmandon made no mention of it.
wildman,
That is exactly what I heard in 2008 in the office trailer I was in during a plant startup I was working on. One of the guy in the trailer was a 22-year old straight out of college. He said he was voting for Obama because he was cool. The other guy, a Republican, well, he just wanted change from Bush. I believe however, the coolness factor has worn off and the students are not buying it a second time.
Which is why they are so afraid of Rubio. He is cool and young and that's all Obama had working for him.
Road,,,, That's not the impression you get from students.... They really like Obama
The ones that go and listen to his speeches...of course. LOL. Those are the one's who'd give their right arm for dinner with Obama and Clooney.
An article came out this week said 1 in 2 students graduating this spring is without a job offer. That kind of bring them back to reality. Coolness only goes so far.
wildmandon
here's something you can call out Obama on. Jim the uninformed just refuses to get informed about the man he supports.

To JIM--to state truth and fact or to have a different opinion is not hate speech but to attack the ideas of others is,
Liberals like to say they want “dialogue” and “civil rhetoric” but they show time and again they are incapable of civil dialogue. For them, bipartisanship means you must agree with them.
OK,,, Try starting a civil dialog with reason grounded... The right wings demand for "imperial freedom of speech" is idealistic & not based in reality or the 1st Amendment
It's an extremely radical interpretation of the 1st Amendment some people exploit for electioneering politics,,,, it's meaningless banter to stir the anger & the public always holds you accountable for speech --- In court you can be sued for liable
OMG I would like to say I am deeply suprised by the left wing dribble going on on this forum but I'm not same old thing. I can not believe how many of you actually read the article which blatently shows manipulation to try and turn college students against candidates rephrasing their words to mean something else and then are cheering for it-thats right!!! lie to them Obama!!!!! Them College students don't know any better good job! Seriously people. You think what you want-I was a college student when Obama and the dems toook over and you knwo what it got me? Double the student loan payments because their bs program made it so I have half my loans private and half govt. And when I inquired as to consolidation (through their program) they will only consolidate right now through May on their side, wont let you consolidate the private part "because of the current economy we dont do that." Oh ok so because of the current economy you try your best to make it harder on new grads not easier-gotcha. And before all you geniuses out there start goign off-no I am not a republican I am just a hard working American who put herself through school and is sick of seing her wages screwed with by the govt-I'll add my cost of insurance for my family has trippled thansk to Obamacare with less benefits-thank you so much for your hard work!
And, I would like to think that you can breathe regularly, without referring to crib notes, Becky, but we can't always get what we want.
I can hardly wait until Obama shoves Romneys lies and flip flops down his throat. I would like to have a front seat, so I can watch Romney spew out more lies while trying to answer obamas remarks. About time Obama woke up and is doing this. Enough of the lies and misleading statements about Obama. Way to go big O.
I am planning a Super Bowl type party for the debates...if Obama agrees to them. Mitt will eat Barry's lunch.
Romney 2012
gustifer
What do you think Romney is going to do with this.

This makes Obama look like the smacked ass he is.
Digging all the way back to 2006 when he was a junior Senator?
His record since has been economic success & can't be disputed with any degree of credibility, especially since he had to do it from scratch with a collapsed economy & the highest rate of job losses any President had inherited from the former administrations
Jim you must be on some good meds! Over 88 million people have dropped out of the work force, unemployment claims have been slowly going up again, over $5 trillion in new debt, etc.. and you believe that he has been an economic success? How pathetic!!!!!!
The point is that no matter how unsuccessful Obama has been in improving the economy, his record is far better than George W. Bush's when he was implementing standard Republican policies and causing the economic meltdown. And those policies haven't changed. We will get the same policies and the same disastrous results all over again once Republicans are in charge.
George Bush is not running in this election and Romney was not a member of Congress. Nice try Zorro.
But, Bush's disastrous policies are still a problem for this country, and Mittens was not in Congress because he got his sorry pink ass kicked.
Still having trouble coming up with a cogent argument, I see.
just a hunch, but I've lurked for a while and the same jackass leftists posts almost 24/7. I think they are campaign workers.
HEY Jim, Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas vispeech. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.
Sure it is, no problem with that amigo... As long as it is "RESPONSIBLE & MORAL" SPEECH & that is totally lacking
Your parents teach you as a child to use responsible speech,,, We should hold our elected officials to that same moral responsibility
Yea the restrictions are to protect the rights of others, their reputation,or national security and public saftey-"Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech--
I don't think your parents where concerned about you as a child effecting national security ---- But you did get smacked for saying the wrong thing to them
Even our military limits free speech, it's embedded in the military structure & should be to maintain command effectiveness
I don't see you winning an argument for "Imperial Freedoms" of speech
yea but our parents are correcting us for common decency not political gain to circumvent a another partys effectivness to govern the desires of their constituants
and i too am a vet
"Common decency" & "Not for political gain" ---- We agree, there should be reasonable & moral limits on speech
If you check you'll find out that Congressmen violate their own ethics rules when they abuse speech irresponsibly.... They have to be held accountable
This garbage from Romney that Obama has been bad for our economy & foreign policies is simply irresponsible nonsense
I think we just demonstrated bi-partisian communication and resolve so i reakon its our responsibility to run for office to show em how its done ------dinner on the stove so gotta go, but i'll be catching you on the vine, later
I thought Hussein obama got a foreign student loan. But,wait, how could that be if he was not a foreign student?I guess obama has been lying and cheating for a long time.He is a lousy punk.
Uninformed Jim 372206
No comment about Obama's Senate speech. So here is a reminder.
From Sen. Obama's Floor Speech, March 20, 2006:

Care to tell us how many times Obama appeared before Congress to get the debt ceiling raised since he took office.
You are aware that Obama has successfully gotten the debt ceiling raised to $16.7 trillion to keep his government operating.
You are aware that at the beginning of August, 2011 Obama created a never ending debt crises that almost shut his government down.
You are aware that Obama's never ending debt crises is on going and will continue to escalate if he's reelected.
Do you support the destruction of our Constitutional government?
Come up with something new dude.... Old GOP ant-Obama political rants just doesn't cut the mustard
And just who has been shouting for destruction of our Constitutional Government?
Tea Party False Patriots & Republicans
Did you notice Romney demanding an extreme over reach of Presidential power?
Jim
So Obama's speech from 2006 is just some politican's rant to deceive voters. I agree with that one. Obama has been deceiving the voters for many many years.
Look how he deceived you into believing that the foundations he laid down for a military take over of our government aren't real even though what he says and what he does are indicators that are very real.
I guess the never ending debt crises Obama created isn't real either. Just a rant by some politician.
Screw the Republicans. All they can think of is cutting taxes for the wealthy while the rest of us working stiffs pay the way for funding government. The Republicans will say anything, do anything to light the fuse of hate for this President. Damned to all of you who support this obstructionist attitude of the Republican party.
Robert
Thank you for bring up taxes and Obama's tax reform. Since you're so informed maybe you can answer this question.
Like in this campaign, Obama cried about his tax reform in his first campaign, yet when he had democratic control of congress he never proposed his tax reform to congress. Even when it was under democratic control and he could have gotten his tax reform passed as easily as Obamacare, he remained silent on tax reform.
So like many others, I'm hoping you can tell me why Obama waited until he lost the House to the Republicans before proposing his tax reform to congress.
Do you think it had something to do with the fact that he knew he couldn't get it passed and there by would make the Republicans look like obstructionist to help his campaign?
Just seems his actions seem a little strange since he promised that if elected, his tax reforms would get passed with a democratically controlled congress.
A large group of my fellow travelers have decided not to vote for Obama in November unless he comes up with those obama dollars he promised us during his last election campaign. We don't which Peters he robs to pay us Pauls as long as we get those dollars. If he can come up with money to buy influence amongst those Hispanics and ghetto dwellers he certainly should do more for us. We don't work and we don't care about the economy or his lackluster performance but we do want more money. Dead people's votes are free, ours are not.
Hey uninformed Jim 372206
Did you catch the Obama campaign tell in this 2006 speech. He uses it all the time. Especially when he's telling and feeding the American people a bunch of BS.
If you didn't notice it, I will tell you what it is. "American deserve better."
You keep digging up old stuff from when he was a junior Senator, yet you refuse to look at Romney's own bad record & continuous flip flops
His record as President in economic & foreign policy issues & his use of or military is beyond reproach
Obama's record:
$5 trillion in new debt
Over 88 million no longer in the work force nor counted in the unemployment figures
Muslim Brotherhood in control of Egypt
Arab spring gave control to the extremists
Iran threatening us and it's neighbors
Russia and China voting against us at the U.N.
Against Israel
Bombing six different countries to date without Congressional Authorization
Do we need to mention the scandals?
Well, Romney isn't President. He doesn't have the power to create the foundation for a military over throw of our Constitutional Government. Obama has the power to do just that and is using it to do just that.
Do you deal with the snake in the grass that's about to strike or worry there might be another snake somewhere down the road.
Obama's 2006 speech is just an example of how what Obama says and what he does don't even come close to reality.
It gives you an insight into the man. A man who will tell you what he thinks you want to hear regardless if he believes it.
He talks his tax reform up big. Been talking big about it from his first campaign, yet when he had the opportunity to get it passed, he didn't even propose it to his democratically control Congress.
This should give you another insight to the man you support. After all, he could have gotten his tax reform passed if only he proposed it to his democratically controlled congress.
You tell me to get informed about Romney, Well, isn't it about time you got informed about Obama. That way neither one of us will vote for either one of them.
mhrjhn, you should write science fiction amd make a killing, it's in your blood.
Prove me wrong Rasputin! I dare you to try.
mhrjhn: Prove you wrong? How about this...re: your claim that Obama has racked up 5 trillion in debt. Actually I'm surprised you didn't claim 6 trillion as most extreme right GOPers do. But I'll give it a try...
You have to add this up and subtract it from your 5 trillion okay?
Bush failed to pay for two wars, Afghanistan and Iraq. Bush failed to pay for a senior prescription program and Bush failed to pay for the tax breaks for the rich in 2001 and 2003. All of this is on the OBAMA budget.
How much is that mhrjhn?
