As he traveled to three swing states this week to talk about student loan costs, President Barack Obama has been turning the words of Republican members of Congress against them in order to underscore, as the president characterizes it, their indifference to the struggles of college students.
Tuesday, Obama paraphrased Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-NC, who said in a radio interview that she has “very little tolerance for people who tell me that they graduate with $200,000 of debt or even $80,000 of debt because there’s no reason for that.”
She went on to say, “I remind folks all the time that the Declaration of Independence says, ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’ You don’t just sit on your butt and have it dumped in your lap.”
Speaking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the president said he would quote Foxx’s remarks, “because I know you guys will think I'm making it up.”
“She said she had ‘very little tolerance for people who tell me they graduate with debt because there's no reason for that,’” Obama said, even though he left out the amount of student debt Foxx said she did not tolerate students accumulating.
NRO’s Katrina Trinko pointed to a study by the New York Federal Reserve that showed the average outstanding student loan nationally was $23,300 and almost 95 percent of student loan borrowers owed less than $75,000, so Foxx’s remarks referred to a small number of debtors.
Obama also cited Foxx at his next speech at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
“She said, students who rack up student loan debt are just sitting on their butts, having opportunity ‘dumped in your lap.’”
“I can tell you, Michelle and I, we didn't take out loans because we were lazy,” he continued to laughter. “You didn't take out loans because you're lazy.”
At his final speech Wednesday at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Obama quoted from Rep. Todd Akin, R-MO, who was asked during a Senate debate (he’s seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill) whether he would vote on a bill to keep student loan interest rates from increasing in July.
Akin responded, "America has got the equivalent of the stage three cancer of socialism because the federal government is tampering in all kinds of stuff it has no business tampering in. So, first to answer your question precisely – what the Democrats did to get rid of the private student loans and take it all over by the government was wrong. It was a lousy bill. That's why I voted no."
Obama made use of Akin’s words today, telling the Iowa students, “You've got one member of Congress who compared these student loans -- I'm not kidding here -- to a ‘stage-three cancer of socialism.’”
“Stage-three cancer? I don't know where to start. What do you mean? What are you talking about? Come on. Just when you think you've heard it all in Washington, somebody comes up with a new way to go off the deep end,” he said.
Obama’s Iowa speech came just hours before House Speaker John Boehner announced his caucus’ plan to introduce their own bill to extend the current 3.4 percent interest rate for one year to prevent it from rising to 6.8 percent.
Boehner’s office said the extension would be paid for by re-allocating college financial aid funds that were diverted by Democrats to pay for the health care law.
“In essence, they raided student aid to pay for a health care law that is making it harder for American small businesses to hire new workers – including recent college graduates,” Boehner’s office said in a statement.

How dare them Middle Class Americans think they can have a college education! They are not worthy! Only the 1% is worthy! The GOP.
It's not stage three Socialism that I'm worried about,
it's stage three Fascism that the GOP is promoting !!!
Just say NO to zombie-brained Nazis who watch Fox News.
You should look up what "Fascism and Socialism" really is then take a look at what the Dem party of NO is doing. While they have not totally hit the Fascism part, they are head on with Socialism.
Obviously you need to review the term "Fascism" ~ it smacks of modern day conservatism. Its difficult to discern if Republicans simply don't realize this or if they simply don't give a damn. It could be a combination of both for Fascism only requires that legislators be bought to accomplish it. Socialism requires the backing of the entire population to succeed.
David Noah POSTED:
If were going to use a politicians own words against them then this one gets my vote. I'm sure this one has been posted before but who can resist since he was describing his own administrations future.
Too bad he didn't use those awesome skills of Precognition to avoid "Solyndra", "Fast and Furious", "GSA", Secret Service Hooker Scandal, etc.
by his own statements Obama is a failure as a leader.
http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/256288/senator-barack-obama-explaining-his-2006-vote-against-raising-debt-limit-andrew-c-mcca
America does have a debt problem. GOP refuse to acknowledge that higher taxes have to part of the solution, even as income tax rates are the lowest in modern history and the lowest among industrialized countries, while defense spending equals the entire rest of the world.
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006
So sabotaging healthcare is more important than using excess wealth from millionaires to cover student loan interest rates!
The truth is wealth begets wealth, and heaven forbid anything interferes with creating wealth. Steal from the poor because they have been stealing from the wealthy through entitlement programs. Never mind it was the wealthy that cause our financial meltdown not the poor.
If you want to act all religious about it then follow Christ and sell all you have, then you will truly have treasures in heaven, because you can’t take your earthly treasure with you!
Typical left strategy. All the Democratic Party has is spin and conjecture. No plan No strategy No Ideas No hope.
The last 3 years experience belie your claim.
rukidding47 -
I haven't heard what Mitt's plan is. What will HE do the fix the economy? How will HE unite the country? What are HIS plans on foreign policy? Nada, nothing has been said by him. All he seems capable of is hammering Obama.
In the meantime, he can't shoot straight when meeting average Americans! His gaffes du jour and astounding for someone who thinks he can run the US. And Rubio can't find his speech. These guys are the gift that keeps on giving.
Funny how MSNBC doesn't report on Obama's words
"Flexibility" anyone?
They can't use that term, Ralph ~ ~ its trademarked and copyrighted by Romney whose campaign motto should be "Flexibility is my only firm policy." Romney has some redeeming qualities, however. He's a bit like Texas weather ~ if you don't like his position on an issue, just hang in there ~ it will change fairly quickly.
No big surprises here,........teatards hate education........
The Republicans under Boehner have come around on this one and support an extension of low student loan rates. (Actually, they're not very low right now, and if the cut expires they'll double to about 8%.)
But "never a rose without the thorn."
Obama would pay for it by taxing the rich. The GOP will pay for the low student loan rates by dipping into what they've called "the health care slush fund."
It's a good tactic. "Slush fund" takes us back to the Watergate scandal and still sounds corrupt.
Actually the "slush fund" has an official name and is designed for a particular purpose. It's to be used to promote preventative public health measures like freeing us of tobacco and providing school kids with healthier foods, which will save money in the long run.
BOENER BRAIN of CONGRESS this morning says "they are aware of the issue and will take care of it, without political posturing fanfare". An attack on OBAMA !!!!!
Well BONER BRAIN, You are an idiot just like the rest of your CRONIES and TEA SHYSTERS in CONGRESS. What FOOLS, REALLY !!!
What BONER BRAIN did not say is HE AND HIS MAFIA STAFF AND TEA SHYSTER THUGS want to pay for all the STUDENT LOANS OUT OF THE HEALTH-CARE FUNDING!@#$%
WHAT HALLUCINEGENIC DRUGS ARE THEY ON ???? Real smart accounting I must say!@#$%. Lets take it FROM THE SICK PEOPLE WHO NEED IT MOST AND GIVE IT TO THE STUDENTS WHO ARE HEALTHY !!!! WOW<WOW<WOW !!!!!!!
FOLKS THIS CONGRESS HAS LOST IT. PURE & SIMPLE !!! THEY ALL MUST GO !!!!!!
the same tired arguments and talking points, ill leave out the daily koch, alec 1% bla bla bla as these are played out daily... I will brig up mcconnell and his "making obama a one term president" remark...NEWS FLASH if a republican is president the goal is to make them a one term prsident if its a democrat the republican goal is to make them a one term president... if it wasnt the case we would have elections every 8 years and let the president serve two terms...
Liberals please come up with real talking points or better yet tell us what obama has accomplished...Before you go with a google list remember the gop is the party of "no" (talking point) so any accomplishment that obama has made would have been made because the gop worked with him to pass legislation (since the potus can not pass legislation without congress).. Now if your gonna say the se things were passed without gop help then your other talking point about the gop filibutering everything is a lie .. which is it??
You should probably keep in mind that just because something is repeated often -- or even taken for granted -- doesn't mean it's false.
You know, like "The earth is round"?
Wow, talk about Obama lying in regards to what Todd Akin actually said. He said that governmetn involvement in school loans is the equivalent of socialism. He didn't say school loans are socialism, because he turned right around and advocated for school loans from private companies.
Oh, I see: If student loans are directly from the government, that's SOCIALISM, but if someone in the private sector makes a profit off them, that NOT SOCIALISM! Imagine that! It's all one a them Profit deals!
Thanks for making that gold-leaf distinction for the Congressman!
Another proof CONGRESS DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANY "SOCIAL ISSUES LET ALONE THE CITIZENS OF THIS NATION"
How sad are these low lifes who are for themselves and not this COUNTRY !!!
NONE of these Social issues belong being managed by the federal government. Try to find one social issue mentioned in the Constitution. Try to find the word "social" or "charity" in the Constitution. Oh yes.... social issues and charity have existed since long before Jesus Christ and the Romans. It was not "overlooked". Social programs and charity by extortion have destroyed every society that tried them.
There simply is no way to justify a "victim" or worth recipient. There is no way to monitor or manage the eligibility. There is no way to control the corruption that evolves out of the people put in charge of administering the charity. They are all "self policing" programs enforced by "ethics" and not "felonies" on a political level.
Once started the people simply keep "voting' themselves money and the politicians keep handing it out like Santa Clause with no regard to the consequences of such debt creation. They are all "UNFUNDED". Since we are running a $1.7 TRILLION dollar deficit they have absolutely no clue where they are going to get the money to fund these programs.
We have $16 trillion in national debt trying to pay for "unfunded" wants/needs of some lobby bought off vote buying stooge in Congress. We have well over $50 trillion promised that we have no clue how to fund.... but we promised it anyways.
Charity is fine but charity by government extortion is mob rule mixed with pure corruption.
Social issues are a pretty way to say "wealth reallocation" by extortion and force.
Adams, you have a singularly synical outlook on everything! And you are a broken record. A parrot repeating the right wing mantra. You've been brainwashed. There is no such thing as the right wing claim of "wealth redistribution"! Government extortion? Apply that to the Republicans! They've been doing it backwards though. They've been taking from the poor and middle class and giving to the rich. There is a plethora of evidence and proof of this fact. There are University and economic geniuses out there who've done all the research for us. They've created graphs and compiled statistics to help you see the truth. And they did it without intending to prove anything one way or another about any political party or individual. Just research. If you don't get it that's another issue for you to work on. Maybe spend a bit more time on.
Why I'll be voting for President Obama again and why he'll win again.
1. I AM better off now that when he began his term. In 2008 our company went from 1150 employees to 350 employees; thos of who were lucky to survice this massive cut were asked (yea right) to take a 20% across the board cut in salary. Fast forward to 2012 - We are back up to 825 employees; my salary was reinstated and I'm up another 4%.
2. ALEC - As this is being exposed and I looked at the laws over the past 10-15 years that have passed; mandatory car insurance & red light camera tickets - these laws were passed with one intention to make private companies a higher profit. Ask yourself this; did your insurance go down and or did you get a break on the "unisured motorist" portion of your bill? Do red light camera's make the roads any safer? These are just two of the ones lawmakers passed that were submitted to state law makers from Republicans on behalf of private companies, that have no benefit to society other than to skim money from the law abiding citizens.
3. The continued manufacturing of crisis situations that do nothing but allow those who have extreme amounts of money to just make more. Example - Debt Ceiling; the market tanked and theres indication of extreme amounts of money invested in "putz" selling short on a timetable that a small amount of people make wealth beyond compare. It's my contention they drove this crisis to position themselves to screw the market and the smal investors.
Why President Obama will win
1. He'll get the "Women" Vote - Repulicans have tried various ways to legislate against them from equality of salaries to personal freedoms. Do not for a moment think women haven't noticed and are completely disgusted with their underhanded approach.
2. The young generation; from the OWS to College students to the lost generation that has no future. They all recognize that they play no part in the Republicans idea of America.
3. The Liberal intellectuals; professors, doctors nothing more to be said, except there's no way they ever get this demographic.
So all you Republican supporters that keep spewing your filth, lies and hate masked by patriotism and evangelism the fact remains your so called facts do not stand the test of truth.
Thank you Kevin, thank you, thank you, well said. The Republicons, forget all about honor, and decency, and what it is to do everything for all the people, not just the wealtheist, among us. They have from day one, done everything they can to bring Obama down, and make people forget the disaster Bush was. I find it interesting that nobody has gotten any kind of endorsement from Jr., they are running away from him as fast as they can. Even they know he was a bad president, and Dick Cheney was the real power behind the throne.
I don't think anyone is completely indifferent to anyone else's problems but we all have our own. Financially contributing to the problems of someone else is called charity and is not a form of extortion by force. Higher education is a luxury pure and simple. It is not food, water or shelter and nobody should have income extorted to pay for someone else's higher education.
The government is also not a freaking bank that doles out money to extremely high risk individuals that don't qualify for a real private loan for very good reasons. We pay the FED to print this money then pay private banks to loan the money while the taxpayers back incredibly high risk loans. They saddle the obvious debt of one group to another group who did not benefit. This is to say nothing of the Santa Clause present of the failed PELL Grant program which pays people to go to a Junior College and chase the opposite sex with absolutely no focus or accountability.
We are bankrupt plain and simple. Nobody wants to deal with it and are deluded into thinking they can keep all their wealth reallocation scams if someone else gives up theirs. At this point if everyone gave up everything we may still not be able to save the dollar as the global currency. There is simply already WAY too much debt attached to the dollar to keep it as the global currency. Adding more debt to it is insane and will only make the time of reckoning worse. The financial powers are simply thinking of the best way to break it to us.
The angry mob trying to save their personal pet pig wealth reallocation scam is a complete waste of time and energy at this point. It is like squabbling over the dinner menu while the Titanic is sinking.
At what point does "im going to give you money if you vote for me" become illegal?
Wait, im pretty sure it already is, unless youre a democrat.
Everyone should ask democrats one question every election, how much is this ploy to buy votes going to cost the taxpayers?
The liar in chief is playing you libs for the lemmings he knows you are. If you took the time to listen to what was said you would know he "photoshopped" thier words to do what he does best - direct attention away from his failure as a president. It appears the liberal mindset of, if he says it it must be so, is alive and well. Just once I would like to see obummer man-up and tell the truth.
Nettle, if you check, most of those H1B engineers got their degrees at US Universities and Colleges. Where do you think they met the US Corporation headhunters for their positions?
Socialism still sucks!
Republicans just can't start those wars fast enough. War on drugs, war on seniors, war on women, war on the middle class, war on unions, and on and on. Now they want to wage a war on students trying to get ahead. Republicans are standing strong for the right of banks to fleece, extort, and overcharge young people getting student loans. That's right, the very same greedy, crooked bankers that stole so much from the American people that the economy collapsed.
I can't wait for November. Obama / Biden in 2012!!!!!
At what point is the "war on" rhetoric going to get old with you children?
Liberals have been waging a war on commonsense forever.
bwahahahaha - ya right! Repubs: old rich white guys - the kings of common sense!
Not True! I guess you justify your charity by extortion by saying "the other kids" extort for their wars. Real great logic there.
The Obama inherited one war and started two more that were even less justified than the first. He is drooling at letting the oil companies, bankers and military contractors into Iran to steal everything not nailed down. He pulled out some troops and only replaced every one of them with private contractors at 4 times the cost. Obama refused to audit the Pentagon and defense budget which have not seen an audit since 9/11. They are a completely unaccountable big black hole we throw money into and Obama could not care less.
We have only one party as far as banking, oil and warfare.... the "Republicrats". If you look at the lobby list for BOTH party's they are identical when it comes to the FED, private bankers, oil and military contractors.
Bush and Obama were/are both puppets of the global corporate interests. Obama or "Obomney" will make no difference. They were put into their positions by the same people for the same reasons.
Therein lies the ideological chasm between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans believe in the inherent right of the rich to exploit and extort from the middle class.
Akin isn't against student loans. He's just against student loans at reasonable interest rates that students can actually afford to pay back. Akins and his Republican henchmen want to give this windfall to his greedy banker friends who aren't interested unless they can charge obscene interest rates.
Why would anyone with ANY commonsense at all vote for the rich white people's party candidate.
The problem is your usage of the word "reasonable". You see... "reasonable" rates are determined by the loan market and a persons risk level. It is real simple.
What you want are rates that are WAY below market value which is "reasonable" for the risk level of the person. You want the FED to create currency to inflate our savings and earnings, then take that money and loan it way below its market risk factor to not credit worthy people.
The taxpayers are then responsible to pay the difference to the bank between fair market value and the government manufactured "reasonable" interest rates. The taxpayers then pick up the tab for all defaults and legal deferments. Many of these people defer loans for decades while the taxpayer continue to pay their interest.
The student loan recipient gets his interest accumulation "stopped" through filing a deferment while the taxpayers continue to pay the bank that interest. The bank gets its interest and has NO DEFERMENT. Someone is paying that interest all the time but the student is not.
Both party's are equally run by the banking cartels. That was evident through the bailouts and lack of any semblance of financial reform after the meltdown.
Seems to me Obama inherited TWO wars ~ Iraq and Afghanistan. What TWO wars did he START? I missed that completely. And if you think there is anything of value left that is worth stealing in Iraq after Halliburtion and KBR finished their looting, you are daft.
Duuhhh... there is OIL! It would take several decades to deplete the Iraqi oil supply and that is why we are there. Did Haliburton somehow extract billions of barrels that would take decades to do by any conventional extraction methods known today?
Thought for the Day:
Don't forget to "congratulate" any rich/wealthy people you meet today for their fortunes. (per Flip Romoney's speech yesterday)
Obama/Biden 2012
The President's paraphrasing of Rep. Foxx, which he called a "quote," conveniently left out that she was talking about people who graduate with "$200,000 of debt or even $80,000 of debt," not just "debt." I don't see how this can be taken as anything other than disingenuous.
As a 2011 college graduate, I also don't have a lot of tolerance or sympathy for people who complain about the $200,000 of debt they racked up. No one forced them to get that far in debt. It's pretty simple. You don't go to a school you can't reasonably afford. You are not guaranteed to go to any school you want, generate a ton of debt, and have others take care of it for you later.
I was in school for 6 years (calm your snickers... I changed my major several times. 3.89 GPA), my parents paid for the first year only, and I ended with about $20,000 in debt. That's an amount I can handle, that's something I can pay off. I didn't go to a more expensive school because we couldn't afford it. That's life. I never felt entitled to go to a more expensive school. I was happy to be able to go to school.
You make your bed, and then you have to sleep in it.
Obama voter here by the way.
Frankly, I've never known anyone with $200,000 worth of education loan debt ~ not even those who borrow for graduate school, medicine, or law. Talk about being disingenuous. $80,000 is possible if one considers post-graduate study in the professions, but the average indebtedness is approximately $23,000. Yet the critics are quite correct in one respect ~ ~ colleges increase tuition and fees knowing that students CAN borrow and they benefit handsomely from available loans. When increasing the cost of tuition is not a reasonable factor, they "sell" more credits by increasing the number required to graduate. I spent nearly a quarter century in post-secondary education and know most of the tricks.
There should be NO confusion WHATSOEVER that Republicans ARE NOT FOR a lower interest rate on student loans. By introducing a bill to keep the interest rate the same they are simply countering the Democrats bill and dipping the tip of it in poison meant to poison and kill the health care bill! Why should there be no confusion? Well because they have said it FLAT OUT! The Paul Ryan budget was all for these interest rate hikes! Many Republicans have stated that they think student loans are "socialism", a "hand-out", when they are LOANS and must be RE-PAYED! Why are the Republicans so against student loans? Is it because they favor the rich? It is no secret that they support the rich and do the bidding of the rich! Look at how they support big oil, unfair taxes, and how they oppose government programs for the poor! Open your eyes and see the Koch brothers OWN THEM! They cling to the rich because their ideas, when they have them, are valued based, often religious,. old, out-of-date and out of touch with current society and the ONLY WAY they can stay in power is MONEY! They don't want students to be able to take out a loan like they probably did because then they will also have MONEY and POWER! Knowledge is POWER! They strip away collective bargaining rights...why? They want to take the POWER away from you! They make voter registration laws that make it difficult for the young to vote why? They are scared who they might vote for! They oppose the media and colleges slamming them as "liberal" why?! Because they don't want you to be educated. They want you to go to "private schools" where they teach you only what they want you to know! I went to one of those. Guess what...they taught me lies! They told me the Cruscades were about Catholics killing Protestants not Christians killing Pagans, other Christians, Catholics killing Christians, Muslims, Pagans. Why didn't they tell me the whole truth? Well it would make their institution look bad because their Christian. You SEE this is all a big, screwed up game the Repubs are playing! They want to FORCE you and MIND F^$K you into believing in their morals and doing what they want you to do. They want the rich to get richer and the poor to stay powerless.
Funny........ How should that sound to some poor blue collar worker working 2 jobs and 70 hours a week to support his family. Most of these people can't get an 8% for a car to drive to their current jobs with. He did not want to go to college but is being forced by extortion to support every bozo who wants to be a doctor, lawyer, corporate executive, day trader, hedge fund manager etc etc etc.
The poor and middle class have to pay the Federal Reserve to print the money with interest FOREVER. We then pay the banks to loan insanely low interest rates to extremely high risk people. The taxpayers then work their butts off to pay for all the defaults. NONE of that is paid back!!!!!! Not one nickel. That money stays on the national debt being paid back over and over and over. All some student pays back is the principal" on the loan but NONE of the collateral debt involved. Literally generations are stuck with HIS/HERS collateral debts. People not even born yet will be paying for that loan and the currency CREATED to fund that loan through a bank.
We also pay interest while every one of these clowns "defers" their payments for decades. These people are under ZERO obligation to become anything that supports the average taxpayer or even stay in this country.
Long and busy post, Adams. Most of your post is just WRONG! It's clear you don't really know what you are talking about when it comes to your take on how student loans actually work.
And the "poor blue collar worker working 2 jobs and 70 hours a week to support his family. Most of these people can't get an 8% for a car to drive to their current jobs with" you are talking about are exactly the people who depend on these student loans for their children to be able to go to college and have a better life than they did! I don't know anyone who doesn't want their kids to go to college these days. I live in a moderate middle class neighborhood full of "blue collar workers" and we all need those loans for our children to move up and out of here! And our children are NOT lazy bozos. We pay our debts even if we die trying! You are a selfish snob. Just like the rest of the right wing Republicans. I don't include all Republicans because I have a lot of Republican friends with children attending college on government loans. YOU are out of touch and out of line Goober. I mean Boomer.
So many Americans are uninformed about what the issues really are because the media has failed.
The conservative bias of the mainstream media won't hold Republicans accountable by reporting their continuous stream of hypocrisy.
So President Obama is stepping up and letting Americans know who is working for them!
People are no longer reliant on "the media" for their information. With at least ten search engines available, there is no excuse for being uninformed. IN fact, they can serve a useful purpose in vetting and validating what "the media" is putting out as facts. All media, conservative and liberal. So long as "the media" is competing for billions in campaign advertising, don't expect them to offer any facts that will be embarrassing or uncomplimentary of a media "buyer" in search of an advertising outlet. Its all about money. Politics is money.
Well said Jim but most of these people have been using the same bought off lobby run sterile sources of information for the last couple decades or more. Most people want to listen to what they like to hear and not reality.
Faux News is the biggest and oldest of these. They invented the political partisan format for news. They invented the dice and splice video and sound bite trickery. Gotta give credit where it's due.
Oh, I see..... you listen to a "newer" lobby owned corporate media taking marketing money from the same corporations they are supposed to be reporting about?
MSN and GE are big time military and federal contractors. GE who owns MSN, CBS etc has been convicted of more federal contract violations than any other corporation in America. Both Microsoft and GE are monster tier one federal lobby's chasing contract money all over the place.
So how do you get realistic, non biased reporting out of these medias?
Not so long ago Romney endorsed the Ryan Budget, which guts education spending and includes raising the student loan percentage.
Now recently, Romney and the GOP say they are for keeping the percentage lower.
FLIP FLOP!
Like a freakin fish outa water....man this guy is squirrely.
Diony
Just where in the Ryan Budget is the raise in interest rates for Student Loans??
slodon,
It is there for everyone to see...google it but I particularly like this link...
Try again that isn't a valid link.
slodon,
was having trouble placing a true link in...
copy and paste...
BTW - it is all over...google it dude...I am not going to do the work for you...
OK that one worked. Unfortunately the author says that the Ryan Budget raises the interest rate but does not say where. He does not back up his statement with a reference. I would like to read that part. I would like to know if it specifically calls for an interest rate or if it just says cuts to a dept that is in charge of Student loans.
If you haven't been registered here for awhile you can't post links. After a few days you will be able to post them with the Copy/Paste.
Wow, Teatard posts are starting to sound desperate........and it's only April...........
Barry didn't "paraphrase" he completely lied about what she said :
I have very little tolerance for people who tell me that they graduate with $200,000 of debt or even $80,000 of debt, because there’s no reason for that,” she said, speaking on the G. Gordon Liddy radio program. “We all live in an opportunity society and people are forgetting that.”
Ms. Foxx explained that when she went to college, in the mid-1960s, she worked for her tuition and never borrowed a dime. But students these days, she suggested, think they’re entitled to a government-funded education.
“I remind folks all the time that the Declaration of Independence says ‘life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,’” she said. “You don’t sit on your butt and have it dumped in your lap.”
Hail to the Liar in Chief!!
Poor Bill still stuck in the 1960's lol
Congressional members should have the integrity to stand by what they say and be held accountable accordingly, for good or bad. I, personally, applaud the Obama Administration for pointing out some of the archaic and extremist viewpoints being voiced in Washington.
