Gingrich recognizes Romney as the ‘nominee’

CRAMERTON, NC –- Newt Gingrich finally admitted Wednesday morning that Mitt Romney will be the Republican Party’s nominee for president this year.

Addressing supporters inside a local diner here following a disappointing second place finish Tuesday night in Delaware's primary, Gingrich went a step closer toward ending his presidential race this morning, after hinting at it last night during his election night speech.

"You have to, at some point, be honest about what's happening in the real world as opposed to what you would like to have happen. Gov. Romney had a very good day yesterday,” he said. “You have to give him some credit. This guy has worked 6 years, put together a big machine and has put together a serious campaign.”

The former House speaker went on to recognize Romney –- the former Massachusetts governor who swept all 5 primaries yesterday –- as the man who will compete against President Obama in the fall.

“I do think it's pretty clear that Gov. Romney is ultimately going to be the nominee and we'll do everything we can to make sure that he is, in fact, effective, and that we as a team are effective both in winning this fall and then, frankly, in governing," Gingrich said to the roughly 75 people in attendance, noting he still believes he would be a better candidate.

Calling himself a “citizen” multiple times inside Georgio’s Restaurant, the speaker vowed to stay involved in the presidential race and admitted he is working out the details of his “transition” this week (although would not define the meaning of his transition when asked by reporters following the event).

"We're going to stay very, very active,” Gingrich promised. “But I am committed to this party. I am committed to defeating Obama. We will find ways to try to be helpful."

Gingrich will continue “campaigning” in the Tar Heel State through Friday before heading back to Washington, D.C. to attend the White House Correspondents Association dinner on Saturday night.

Well DUH!

No sh!t Sherlock!

Does this mean the taxpayers are off the hook for $35K per day to protect Newt & his wife's sorry butts?

Let them go back to what they do best - peddling kiddy books & DVD's...

Buh Bye & Good Riddance!

We do appreciate all of the wonderful material you have provided us liberals to use against Willard though...

it means; He and dough face Callista will do anything to sell more books and DVDs to pay off their debt.

Talk about hypocrites; how does that 35K help reduce the deficit he is always complaining about. Besides, who would want to follow him???

Wait; it's the repo man!!!

lol, I agree Rob..... obama spent $5 trillion in his first two years and it didn't help the economy one bit! Given that, the $35k a day for Newt was well spent.

Hell feisty spends more than that replacing wigs damaged when she walks into a ceiling fan! lol!

Rob in ma-3189632, Mark from Lake Tahoe, and below Seldom Seen Sam Colorado, BenSnead, etc. -- Blah, blah blah, no one cares about what you're posting.

In Romney’s speech; 1) he pretends to care about the unemployed. “…it breaks my heart,” he said. That was over the top, and based on his record, not believable. And 2) He goes on to repeat the GOP/TP promise made before the 2010 election – “I know how to lead us … into a job-creating recovery.” Romney promises jobs, Jobs, JOBS!

HOW?!

THIS IS IT IN A NUT SHELL. Just analyze Mitt Romney’s plan, and his promise to create JOBS! I for one do not see anything concrete from him on how he will actually do it. Certainly not with the Paul Ryan plan he also endorses, which is the old failed tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, and draconian “eating the corn seed” cuts in spending.

Nothing about investment in job creation, whether education and training, infrastructure -- no Jobs Bill like the president and Dems have tried to pass. Nothing!

This is the CLEAR choice voters have. To continue GOP/Bush-era policies that caused the Great Recession--only more “severely,” or give the president a second term and hopefully a cooperative Congress to continue the recovery achieved so far.

I'm referring to recovery that is supported with data -- If you look at the stock market, exports, manufacturing, tourism, and a whole slew of economic indicators including GDP and unemployment, you can see the LIE that Romney and Teapublicans like Boehner are telling about the economy.

They also lied about JOBS in 2010, and they are lying now. Why would anyone trust them to be back in charge?

Obama/Biden – 2012!

The House Is In Play

House Speaker JohnBoehner admitted there's a "1 in 3" chance that the Republicans will lose their majority in the House of Representatives in an interview to be aired Tuesday on Fox News' "America’s Newsroom." Expanding on tough races, Boehner said, "We have 50 of our members in tough races; 89 freshmen running for their first re-elections. And we have 32 districts that are in states where there is no presidential campaign going to be run, no big Senate race and we call these orphan
districts
."

He went on, "You take 18 of them -- California, Illinois and New York, where you know we’re not likely to do well at the top of the ticket -- and those districts are frankly pretty vulnerable."

I don’t recall a Party Leader from either Chamber or either Party say there was a chance for their Party to lose the majority. IMO John was speaking to his caucus telling them to get inline and to GOP supporters so they will open up their checkbooks.

That's true Boehner wants them to get in line for this:

I hope Mitt finds a place in his administration for Newt! The primariy's are over and both of them should work together to repair the damage of the last 3.5 years. Like someone said earlier, a lot of work to be done!

Have to say though, I'll miss getting to see Newt debate Obama.... that would have been sweeet, real sweet!

Oh dang, does this mean no moon base?

The circus is taking down it's tent and the clowns have gotten back into the car. (Quick, lock it!). Let's return to the Rule of Reason or at least some semblance of sanity.

Poor little newti, didn't get to be the nominee. Cry, cry, sob, sob, boo hoo. Now you want to help Rummey the Dummy. I think its the other way round, you want him to help you, somehow? What a baffoon!

Rummey the Dummy needs no help getting creamed this nov.! It is unfortunate, that there are so many zombies out there that have to vote for him. Absolute greed, demands absolute devotion!

Has anyone else seen the glassy eyed stares from the Rummey crowds? I think its in the water? I do believe they have Rummey piss in the water, and then make sure the zombies drink plenty before he shows up? Its their secret concoction, called Mittpiss. The more the zombies drink, the more lies they believe with absolute certainty. WOW!

Rummey the Dummy, and his handlers, want to kill of the rest of this economy.

I wont let them!

I will vote to save this country from the likes of Rummey the Dummy!

I will vote for America!

Of course he recognizes him that was the plan all along. Look how long they kept the spotlight on him.

I suppose now when he has to explain to wife#3 why he was having an affair with wife#4 it was because "he was working too hard and the establishment wouldn't let him him be heard". I think the only thing Newty words hard out is trying to find some tail.

Ladies: can you imagine this doughy slob on top of you, all crimson and sweaty, grunting and panting, with the sweat drops coming off his nose as he tries to get a nut?

"Nutty Newt" one night in his padded room at the Mental Hospital had another nightmare. Again! "Nutty Newt" claims that "Romulian Romney" the GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief" beamed down into his room, and was standing beside his bed. "Nutty Newt" was told by "Romulian Romney" that only he is the GOP/RNC nominee for President. Since "Romulian Romney" is such a massive "Political Flipper," and a big "Economic Flopper." Little "Nutty Newt" did not believe the "Romulian." Then "Romulian Romney" asked "Nutty Newt" if he wanted to bet? "Nutty Newt" started yelling out. "The Romulian is in my room!!!" When the nurses ran in his room and turned on the lights. They found "Nutty Newt" hiding under his plastic sheets crying and norting like a little "Koch Brothers Pig." Yes America. "Nutty Newt" finally got the message that he was given in "Romulian Text," and translated to English. Everyone wave goodbye to Nutty Newt. Again!
