Obama ends March with 10x more cash than Romney

With the deadline approaching for campaigns to disclose their fundraising numbers from March, Mitt Romney's campaign is touting having raised over $12.5 million. By contrast, President Obama's campaign announced they amassed over four times more than Romney, with roughly $53 million. The Dylan Ratigan Show Mega Panel crunch the campaign finance numbers and weigh in on Super PAC spending.

President Obama's re-election campaign had 10 times more money in the bank at the end of March than the campaign of presumptive GOP Mitt Romney, according to federal records.

Obama For America, the president's re-election account, ended last month with about $104 million in cash on hand; Romney, by contrast, reported having just over $10 million in cash on hand at the end of March.

The disclosures for both campaigns were detailed in filings on Friday with the Federal Election Commission.

The advantage for Obama is not necessarily surprising, since the president, as an incumbent, has had the benefit of having been able to raise millions from deep-pocketed donors without having to spend much on a primary challenge.

Obama reported having raised $35 million for his campaign last month, and having spent about $15.7 million. The campaign disclosed earlier this week that the combined Democratic victory efforts had raised a total of $53 million, but that total was divided between the campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and other state parties.

By contrast, the Team Obama raised $45 million in February, $21.3 million of which went to the campaign, and another $24 million divided between the other committees.

The Romney campaign filed its FEC report earlier Friday, which reflected that the former Massachusetts governor had raised $12.6 million in primary funds — its best month to date — in March. Its filing also showed the campaign spent about $10.3 million during the same period.

Romney's fundraising disadvantage versus Obama at this stage reflects several factors, chiefly the fact that Romney wasn't seen as the uncontested Republican nominee until earlier this month, when rival Republican Rick Santorum suspended his campaign. Romney was still facing competition for donors and couldn't formally access money raised for the general election, too. Moreover, the continued bloodletting in the GOP primary through March forced the Romney campaign to continue to exhaust resources.

Nonetheless, both Romney and Obama's campaigns will be aided by the largesse of party committees — the RNC and the DNC, mainly — along with supportive super PACs, which have also collected unlimited donations in support of both candidates.

The DNC's report showed the committee had raised $17.8 million in March and had $24.4 million in the bank at the end of the month. The RNC said earlier this week that it had raised $13.7 million last month, and had $32.7 million in the bank.

A pro-Romney super PAC, Restore Our Future, raised almost $8.7 million in March, spent $12.7 million and ended the month with $6.5 million in the bank. Priorities USA Action, the super PAC banked by the Obama campaign, which has struggled somewhat in fundraising, said on its Twitter account that it had raised $4.5 million during the entire first quarter of 2012, a number that slightly obscures its total haul for March.

Another Republican super PAC which might boost Romney, American Crossroads, said that it had raised about $49 million over the last three months between its traditional super PAC and Crossroads GPS, a non-profit which is not required to disclose the source of its donations.

NBC's Carrie Dann and Garrett Haake contributed reporting.

This is how the warmongering right wing nuts can help save our country, without losing any of our soldiers.

Here is how Sister Sarah, the great American Zero, can help us invade Syria and attack the Islamists. She can be part of the invasion force.

We have to attack the Syrian government before it is too late, without putting our soldiers in harms way.

The best way is to send the right wing radical cracked teanuts over there to fight. First let Sister Sara attack from the front in her helicopter gunship where she is experienced in shooting wolves from the air with her blazing AK47, turns them into instant wolfburgers. Then get the other dunce, the flying witch from Delaware, Christine O Donnell. to attack their flanks using her rocket powered, heavily armed broomstick. Then the macho nut Rick Sanitarium can get his boss, the Pope's boys, the rapist, pedophile catholic priests to attack from the rear. John (town cryer) Bonehead and Mitch McDumbell can direct operations. Groper Nutquist could be the sniper, as all he has to do is lift the lid from his trash can and fire away.

Harold Camping, the evangelical king, can assist by getting the 500,000 or so braindead evangelical Children of the Corn, that he brainwashed to give up all of their worldly possessions to go meet and stay with the man in the sky. These zombies would not care if they died because they would finally get to meet and stay with the man in the sky. Camping can supply them with bibles to throw at the Islamists with some of the millions he bilked these fools out of.

If they still need more help, we can recruit the right wing centrists: the abortion clinic bombers, federal building bombers, abortion doctor killers and the radical right wing southern anthrax spreaders. With this army of right wing nuts and Jesus Freaks, we save our real army for another day.

Ron (Puke) Paul can preach liberty to the Islamics and Muslims who he loves. Maybe lyin Willardo, the Mexican Mormon Moron tax evader can get some of his buddies that he grew up with in Tijuana to volunteer to help also.

Any prisoners that are taken can be sent to Nut Gingerheads 2 trillion dollar moon colony on an unihabitable planet. There is no atmosphere there, so no oxygen and only traces of water. It is hotter than boiling water there during the day and it goes down to 160 degrees below zero at night. In fact, it so nice there, that we should also send the 4 clowns that are running for the repuke nomination there also. Ron (Puke) Paul can preach liberty to the men in the moon, lyin Willardo can establish an off planet moon bank to hide his money, Nut Gingerhead can destroy the moon peoples housing market, and the Pope's boy, Sanitarium can try to find work for his base, the rapist, pedophile catholic priests and braindead evangelical Children of the Corn.

If the right wing cracked teanuts want to beat Obama they need new candidates.

CAIN/SANDUSKYin 2012. These two are their best family values candidates. .Who cares what they did in the past, they are against abortion, that is all that counts to these nuts.

To the right wing base who are in denial that their Rethug candidate is a vile human being.

You people have no friggin idea that it is your Rethug candidate Mittens the Callous and heartless swindler that is PURE evil! You need to really research his backgrounds, because he has tons of skeletons not only in his closet but under his bed.

Educate yourself and read this for your OWN SAKE!

        http://www.villagevoice.com/2012-04-18/news/Mitt-Romney-american-parasite/

His specialty was flipping companies—or what he often calls "creative destruction." It's the age-old theory that the new must constantly attack the old to bring efficiency to the economy, even if some companies are destroyed along the way. In other words, people like Romney are the wolves, culling the herd of the weak and infirm.

His formula was simple: Bain would purchase a firm with little money down, then begin extracting huge management fees and paying Romney and his investors enormous dividends.

In the midst of that 1994 campaign, one of Romney's companies, American Pad & Paper, bought a plant in Marion, Indiana. At the time, it was prosperous enough to be running three shifts.

Bain's first move was to fire all 258 workers, then invite them to reapply for their jobs at lower wages and a 50 percent cut in health care benefits.

Private equity companies like Bain rarely buy anything but profitable firms for one compelling reason: The patient must be healthy enough to be force-fed all that debt. So it's something of a misnomer for Republican opponents to slur him as a "vulture capitalist."

"Romney is not a vulture capitalist, as Rick Perry says, since vultures eat dead carcasses," notes Josh Kosman, who has written about the private equity business for 15 years. He's "more of a parasitic capitalist, since he destroys profitable businesses."

The Armco plant closing involved more than the torching of 750 jobs, Morrow says. Contractors and suppliers collapsed. Workers' children and widows lost health care and pension benefits. And while Bain received millions in tax breaks—paid for by the very people left holding the bag—Romney walked away millions richer.

Even Kaplan admits that private equity firms rarely create jobs. Workers are seen as costs, and costs are the enemy. According to Kosman, Romney was in truth among the most heinous job-killers of them all.

While writing his book, Kosman conducted an interview with a Bain managing partner. The man told him that when Bain was about to buy a company, its partners would hold a meeting. "He said that about half the time [they] would talk about cutting workers," Kosman says. "They would never talk about adding workers. He said that job growth was never part of the plan."

Romney has professed his admiration for Ronald Reagan. But judging by his business history, the president he most resembles is Vladimir Putin. Romney has devoted his life to ensuring that every last penny rises to a few hands at the top. And like Putin, he has never shown much concern for the countrymen he tramples along the way.

"The word 'oligarchy' comes to mind," says Michael Keating when asked to envision a Romney presidency.

Keating is a former business consultant and executive at Bertelsmann, a multinational investment firm that operates in 63 countries. He asserts that men like Romney "hide their antisocial actions behind a rhetoric of free-market capitalist platitudes. But in the end, it's all about the bottom line—and only their own bottom line . . ."

          juno,

Watching a little too much of Ed Schultz, Rachael Maddow, Larry O'Donnell and Chris Mathews, I see.

Oh, and I'm really sorry to see that you're not one of those rich guys. After all, you make it seem like it's an easy thing to do. Or, are you just way too ethical and moral to be so? We all know that it's not because you don't work hard enough or you're not smart enough.

Gingernut exposed. Another lying., but typical right wing radical cracked teanut.

The next forked tongue repuke to go.

Here is why Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac cost us a fortune. It goes directly back to Nut Gingerbread for the blame. He is nothing but a typical two faced right wing cracked teanut. He should be prosecuted for lying about giving Freddie Mac a history lesson and getting paid for it-about 1.5 million.

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich highlighted the benefits of Freddie Mac's business model in 2007 -- a position that appears to contradict his assertion that he warned the mortgage company of its "insane" business practices.

In an interview posted in an archived version of Freddie Mac's website, Gingrich discusses the so-called government-supported enterprise model, dubbed GSEs. "While we need to improve the regulations of the GSEs, I would be very cautious about fundamentally changing their role or the model itself," he said.

He went on to praise Freddie Mac's and Fannie Mae's "important contribution" to homeownership.

Asked about his consulting work for the quasi-governmental housing agency at a Nov. 9 presidential debate, Gingrich said he had offered advice as a historian and sharply criticized its approach.

"When they walked in and said to me, we are now making loans to people who have no credit history and have no record of paying back anything, but that's what the government wants us to do, is I said — I said to them at the time: "This is a bubble. This insane. This is impossible,' " Gingrich said during the debate in Michigan.

That's not the tone Gingrich takes in the Freddie Mac interview in which he touts the GSE model.

"There is not much support for the idea of removing the GSE charters from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae," he said. "And it's clear why. The housing GSEs have made an important contribution to homeownerhip and the housing finance system. We have a much more liquid and stable housing finance system that we would have had without the GSEs."

The only contribution made by Freddie Mac was to line Gingerbreads pockets with cash for his lobbying efforts to get their loan purchase regulations eased, so that they could bumdle worthless mortgages and sell them to unsuspecting banks and insurers all over the world.

Ok, let's get this straight about when the seeds of this economic crisis were planted. Barney Frank and the finance committie set up a new policy that forced, promoted, encouraged, or whatever label you want, to get Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to guarantee high risk mortgages or buy them from the banks. Banks were encouraged by law to give mortgages to people who did not deserve them and far from capable of managing money. I believe this policy was titled, Community Reinvestment Act passed in 1977 and taken to new heights under Barney Frank in the 90's. Remember NAFTA, North American Free Trade Act, passed under Clinton. This utopian global community idea did nothing to help the United States but make it easier to send jobs away and bring cheaper products into the U.S. Yea sure, all this was great at first but the warning signs were ignored. I remember clearly the unempolyment numbers in the late 90's. We were losing lots of jobs but we were creating a lot of jobs. However, as one insightful newsman pointed out ( I can't remember his name?) the lost jobs were high paying skilled jobs and the jobs we are creating are lower paying jobs with no benefits. He concluded that if this trend continues, we have a crisis on our hands. Boy, I wish I could remember his name. Bush's hands were tied, the seeds were planted well before he set foot in the oval office. And, lets not forget one thing, if you really look at the congressional make-up since 1961, congress has been dominated by the Democrats except for a handful of years. So, when Obama says, past policies are the cause of this crisis, who really has been calling the shots and creating policy the most? things are bad now not because of capitalism but because of the lack of capitalism.

It's OK to be a liberal, communist, socialist rich guy. But if you are conservative and only waste your own money, you are bullied as a bad guy. The Demarat's allway's want to spend your money but not there's. Free stuff for votes, like food stamps, welfare, houseing subsidies etc........... But when it comes to donateing to the utopia they spout about, they don't want there money used for it. Don't get me wrong, these programs are morally correct. It's the abuse of these programs, esspecally by the elegal aliens who never pay into it. They allway's are under maximum wage for taxes, but now get 80% or more of the benifit's. And Obummer took every deduction he could leagal or other wise. He is such a con artist lier, every time his lips move a lie flows like a river, same old bull. You would think he could come up with a new lie to spout, I'm sick of the same old lie's.

Hey I see someone else out there has a clue, it about the abuse in these programs that the Republicans are against. And the DEMORATS try to spin it like we hate the programs.

If someone has 1 leg and 1 arm the I believe he should get disability, but for the guy who has a broken fingernail, or can not deal with people NO they should get out and get a JOB even if it is one where they have to work alone. GET RID of the abuse

So the right's biggest idol, Ronnie Raygun, raised taxes as much as he lowered them, gave illegal aliens amnesty, funded terrorists who later attacked the WTC on 9/11, and ran from Lebanon after they killed all those Marines.

He did conquer mighty Granada though.
