Obama ends March with 10x more cash than Romney

With the deadline approaching for campaigns to disclose their fundraising numbers from March, Mitt Romney's campaign is touting having raised over $12.5 million. By contrast, President Obama's campaign announced they amassed over four times more than Romney, with roughly $53 million. The Dylan Ratigan Show Mega Panel crunch the campaign finance numbers and weigh in on Super PAC spending.

President Obama's re-election campaign had 10 times more money in the bank at the end of March than the campaign of presumptive GOP Mitt Romney, according to federal records.

Obama For America, the president's re-election account, ended last month with about $104 million in cash on hand; Romney, by contrast, reported having just over $10 million in cash on hand at the end of March.

The disclosures for both campaigns were detailed in filings on Friday with the Federal Election Commission.

The advantage for Obama is not necessarily surprising, since the president, as an incumbent, has had the benefit of having been able to raise millions from deep-pocketed donors without having to spend much on a primary challenge.

Obama reported having raised $35 million for his campaign last month, and having spent about $15.7 million. The campaign disclosed earlier this week that the combined Democratic victory efforts had raised a total of $53 million, but that total was divided between the campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and other state parties.

By contrast, the Team Obama raised $45 million in February, $21.3 million of which went to the campaign, and another $24 million divided between the other committees.

The Romney campaign filed its FEC report earlier Friday, which reflected that the former Massachusetts governor had raised $12.6 million in primary funds — its best month to date — in March. Its filing also showed the campaign spent about $10.3 million during the same period.

Romney's fundraising disadvantage versus Obama at this stage reflects several factors, chiefly the fact that Romney wasn't seen as the uncontested Republican nominee until earlier this month, when rival Republican Rick Santorum suspended his campaign. Romney was still facing competition for donors and couldn't formally access money raised for the general election, too. Moreover, the continued bloodletting in the GOP primary through March forced the Romney campaign to continue to exhaust resources.

Nonetheless, both Romney and Obama's campaigns will be aided by the largesse of party committees — the RNC and the DNC, mainly — along with supportive super PACs, which have also collected unlimited donations in support of both candidates.

The DNC's report showed the committee had raised $17.8 million in March and had $24.4 million in the bank at the end of the month. The RNC said earlier this week that it had raised $13.7 million last month, and had $32.7 million in the bank.

A pro-Romney super PAC, Restore Our Future, raised almost $8.7 million in March, spent $12.7 million and ended the month with $6.5 million in the bank. Priorities USA Action, the super PAC banked by the Obama campaign, which has struggled somewhat in fundraising, said on its Twitter account that it had raised $4.5 million during the entire first quarter of 2012, a number that slightly obscures its total haul for March.

Another Republican super PAC which might boost Romney, American Crossroads, said that it had raised about $49 million over the last three months between its traditional super PAC and Crossroads GPS, a non-profit which is not required to disclose the source of its donations.

NBC's Carrie Dann and Garrett Haake contributed reporting.

Cha Ching!

Notice which candidate is raising cash from his supporters and which one is raising cash from anonymous corporations?

We don't even know if they are American...

as an incumbent, has had the benefit of having been able to raise millions from deep-pocketed donors

How about next time before you toss something like this out there - you do the research as to what was the average dollar amount per donation...

Just a thought!

Feisty and American Girl - FANTASTIC!!!!! Hope they use it wisely. As far as the Super Pacs are concerned, Spanky. The conservative supreme court ruled on this and as crazy as it is, if you think for one minute that the Democrats aren't going to take advantage of the same law, you are crazy. In my humble opinion, it is way too important that Obama be re-elected. This is a level playing field and the fact that Obama has raised more money is great news to me - bad news for you.

Obama is expected to raise close to a $Billion for his campaign - up from about $750 Million in 2008.

It should be interesting to see if Romney can even come close.

In 2008, both Obama and McCain agreed to limit themselves to Public financing, but then Obama found he could raise far more cash than McCain, so he weaseled out of his commitment to use Public financing, while McCain stuck with his commitment.

The result was that Obama was able to outspend McCain by about 8 to 1 in the general election.

thetotas "Super Pacs, Unions what's the difference?"

None - Big labor donates to Democrats, and big business donates to Republicans. Historically (going back 20 years), this has resulted in the Democrats getting more than 3 times as much from large donors as the Republicans did.

That's the REAL reason that Obama was so upset with the Supreme Court decision - He liked that 3 to 1 advantage in contributions.

I won't vote for Obama because I know best what to do with the money that I earn. I won't vote for Obama because I believe that we are all Americans and I find his pitting one group against another for political gain to be sickening. I won't vote for Obama because I think that the President of the United States shouldn't call fellow Americans enemies or use a bully pulpit to call out a co-equal branch of government. I lived in Illinois when he used sleaze ball tactics to get elected to the US Senate. Obama has been in over his head since his days as an Illinois state senator.

It won't come close to overcoming the campaign fund advantage of the unions. By the way - those laws still allow public workers to belong to a union - they just don't FORCE them to join a union to be able to work for the government.

American Girl-724855 "Dumbest plan I've ever heard, next to the "Ryan Plan" that is."

Here's a great idea;

Obama's 2013 Budget projections show a Deficit in Health Care (Medicare/Medicaid and Obamacare) over the next 10 years of $8.3 Trillion - that's just for health care alone, and is even larger than Obama's TOTAL Deficit for ALL federal government activities of $6.7 Trillion over 10 years, which means that without health care expenses (not counting the $Trillions actually spent by insurance companies and private companies and individuals), we would actually have a federal Budget SURPLUS of about $1.6 Trillion.

Now comes the great idea, which Obama is using;

"Let's ignore this huge problem and demonize anyone that tries to propose a solution" (Ryan).

It may be 'good politics', but it's horrible public policy.

Regarding the article, I voted for Obama in 2008, and probably will again in 2012. But I'm not ready to nominate him for sainthood, or to demonize Romney. The national election process is awash in money from all sources; I'm sure a not inconsiderable sum comes from foreign countries, and even foreign governments. If you think Obama is above such sources, I would say that you are being naive.

As to Romney, while I have trouble listening to him and his smarmy, largely inacurate attacks on any of his opponents, I do not believe he would be an unmitigated disaster in the White House. He was not a disaster as a "severely conservative" governor of Massachusetts. Romney is to conservativism what Bill Clinton was to liberalism, a confirmed pragmatist, who will always set his sails to the prevailing political winds.

Clinton was just better at it than Romney. So is Obama.

Create a tax on the rich, corporations and any rich organization (creating about as much as tax revenue as taxing the rich. 3. "...The policies that happened to trash the economy happened in the 90s..."

That's one of the biggest lies I've ever heard!

Actually it is the truth ... the Clinton initiatives in the housing markets led to the later collapse that threatened the financial sector and brought down the economy.

That's indisputable ... It was a credit issue that had nothing to do with tax rates, wars in Iraq / Afghanistan ...

Even Dick Cheney said his life was better in the 90s, under Democrat President Bill Clinton, and Democrat President Bill Clinton is STILL the No. 1 President of modern times! EVERYTHING Democrat President Bill Clinton did while he was in office benefitted EVERYBODY, not just Republicans, not just Democrats, not just the Rich, and NOT just the poor, EVERYBODY benefitted under Bill Clinton!

Great statement except for one clarification - the good years were the later years, when the country had a repub controlled House and Senate.

I suppose Republicans KNOW they can't get elected based on the "Ryan Plan" and they can't get elected based on "their accomplishments" because Republicans DON'T HAVE any accomplishments!

After raving about the good times under Clinton ..... now that is really funny.

Wonder why that is funny... look at what happened under Clinton?

Clinton tried to do national health care and the repubs shot it down, Clinton tried for a stimulus and repubs defeated it, Clinton tried for big gov spending 5 times before accepting a balanced budget and most importantly THE CAPITAL GAINS TAX WAS DROPPED 8 POINTS.

So how does everything you love about the Clinton years differ from what you loathe in the Ryan Plan?

How is the Ryan Plan fundamentally different than what happened it the Clinton years?

So Republicans plan to lie everyday up to November, and expect for anyone to vote for THEM!

Dumbest plan I've ever heard, next to the "Ryan Plan" that is.

#2 - Want a fundamentally different plan than what occurred under Clinton .... you got it with Obamanomics.

It's illegal for foreigners to contribute to our election campaigns, and the PAC officers have to attest to that - I doubt that Rove will want to go to jail for perjury.

On the other hand, there were $Millions in contributions to Obama in 2008 that were made with 'pre-paid debit cards', where the source could not be verified as not coming from foreigners. Of course, no Justice Department investigation was allowed by Holder.

Here's an interesting quote from Wiki on PACs;

"According to press reports, in asking his top fundraisers to steer money to the main super PAC backing his reelection, Obama embraced a campaign vehicle he previously denounced.[85]"

no mention of "anonymous corporations".

Let me guess, you rode the short bus as a child - please see below where I have highlighted. I don't know what dictionary you read (from the sound of you - you don't) but, not required to disclose would be anonymous

Another Republican super PAC which might boost Romney, American Crossroads, said that it had raised about $49 million over the last three months between its traditional super PAC and Crossroads GPS, a non-profit which is not required to disclose the source of its donations.

Now skip on down the road and chase someone elses tail - I have NO desire to waste my time on a stone cold fool!

You're dismissed!

All this Obama/Romney banter is not gonna help - unless we get out the vote for a Dem senate that can pass what Obama really wants to do. And I mean - jobs for the middle class and green energy to reduce our dependence on OIL and SPECULATORS. We also need a Supreme Court that doesn't give human rights to corporations. This country is still in deep s$*&, until enough of the american public realizes what C%@p the Repubs are trying to force on everyone.

For the past 3 decades Republicans and their president has said "Deficits don't matter".

Now, after 30 years we're supposed to believe that suddenly, out of the blue, deficits DO matter to Republicans? I ain't buying it!

If Romney gets elected, we'll have another major conflict in the world where we'll be highly involved, just like the ones under the previous Republican presidents. Military will flex their might again and oil companies will suck out every last worthless penny from Americans because nobody in government will want to do anything about it. But we'll still keep blaming Obama for the economic troubles we're in right now...which is really a front for something else...noticing the historical context here? If some of you remember, peak gas prices were higher under Bush than they are now...Obama nor Bush can single handedly control gas prices but it should be worth noting Bush's connections with oil companies...

For those of you who think a businessman is the right person to fix our economy...let me give you an example..here in NJ, we had John Corzine who was an ex Goldman Sachs executive. In order to be a board member of Goldman Sachs you have to be a good businessman and a really good cold blooded crook but a businessman nevertheless. He became governor with the public hopes that he would be able to turn this state around...he was a utter failure and Christie's election has as much to do with Corzine's performance in office as Obama's election was a referendum on Bush. Look at the mess Corzine is in now...The bottom line is that Democrat or Republican, a businessman's interest is his own and does not involve anybody else...there are no real ethics involved and nobody will reprimand him for ethics violations. He will use his position to elevate his status and his bank account. He will lie, cheat, and steal to make a buck...I don't buy the argument that the businessman is the best person for the presidency and you probably shouldn't either.

REPUBLICANS haven't ever had "fiscal competence," not even when it was handed to them on a silver platter by Democrat President Bill Clinton! Bill Clinton turned over to George W. Bush a balanced budget AND $450 BILLION in surpluses, AND Bill Clinton replaced ALL the money that had been borrowed from the Social Security Trust Fund AND had a surplus in Social Security too to last for decades into the future!!!

And Republicans are showing signs of having memory failure AGAIN because it was Republicans who destroyed the American Economy IN THE FIRST PLACE! and the only complaint The GOP has with President Obama is that President Obama isn't cleaning up the Republican fiasco FAST ENOUGH!

Get a life Republicans!

Here's a great idea; Obama's 2013 Budget projections show a Deficit in Health Care (Medicare/Medicaid and Obamacare) over the next 10 years of $8.3 rillion - that's just for health care alone, and is even larger than Obama's TOTAL Deficit for ALL federal government activities of $6.7
Trillion over 10 years, which means that without health care expenses (not counting the $Trillions actually spent by insurance companies and private companies and individuals), we would actually have a Federal Budget SURPLUS of about $1.6 Trillion.

Now comes the great idea, which Obama is currently using;

"Let's ignore this huge problem and demonize anyone that tries to propose a solution" (Ryan).

It may be 'good politics', but it's horrible public policy. Obama was quoted as saying “The health care bill will not increase the deficit by one dime.” The latest CBO estimate is $1.7 Trillion over 10 years.

I think it is obscene that we spend this much money to elect a President. One of the biggest problems the U.S. has is that this is how we elect anyone. Whoever has the most money wins. Before we can have a real election in this country, the money has to come out of politics. Having said that, I'm glad that the candidate I am currently backing has the most in the bank. I also don't plan on watching any television ads in the next 6 plus months. What a waste of money!

so what, he plans to BUY his re-election?

    Let’s see, Obama’s list of broken promises…

Didn’t he promise transparency? Guess those back door Obamacare meetings didn’t count…

“My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.

Government should be transparent. Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Government is doing.

    • Congress and the administration hurried the $787 billion, 1,027-page American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to a vote after allowing lawmakers just a few hours to read the bill.
    • Also, some say recent reports of tax evasion by Obama nominees is evidence that the administration is not as transparent as promised.
    • Just before Obama named Timothy Geithner to be his treasury secretary, the president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank quietly paid $26,000 in back taxes and interest due since 2001 and 2002.
    • Furthermore, many journalists report that he has a history of being less than welcoming to the Fourth Estate. Most of the reporters recognized for questions in the briefing room were among the same handful over and over again. Some of them had been given four or even five opportunities for questions while other reporters were not recognized at all.
    • There were also complaints about the time of the November election that not only did Obama rely on a few key reporters for questions, those reporters were chosen ahead of time.

“When there is a bill that ends up on my desk as the president, you the public will have five days to look online and find out what’s in it before I sign it,” he said.

    • Obama signed his first bill, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, on Jan. 20 – only two days after its passage.

Obama promised to “eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses.”

    • People who invest in small businesses have only been allowed to exclude 50 percent of that gain from capital gains taxes. While Obama’s $787 billion economic-stimulus package reduces that tax liability – raising the exclusion to 75 percent – it does not eliminate it.

Obama promised to provide a $3,000 refundable tax credit to existing businesses for every additional full-time U.S. employee hired in 2009 and 2010.

    • Obama’s promise was never included in the stimulus package.

Obama released his “Rescue Plan for the Middle-Class” in which he promised to allow financially distressed Americans to withdraw up to $10,000 from their 401(k) accounts and retirement savings without having to pay penalties. They would only pay income taxes on the amount.

    • Obama’s promise was never included in the stimulus package.

Obama promised America he would loosen the grip of lobbyists on Washington. “I am in this race to tell the corporate lobbyists that their days of setting the agenda in Washington are over. I have done more than any other candidate in this race to take on lobbyists — and won. They have not funded my campaign, they will not run my White House, and they will not drown out the voices of the American people when I am president.”

    • However, USA Today reported Obama’s campaign fundraising team included 38 members of law firms that were paid $138 million in 2007 to lobby the federal government.
      • “Those lawyers, including 10 former federal lobbyists, have pledged to raise at least $3.5 million” for Obama’s campaign, the report states. “Employees of their firms have given Obama’s campaign $2.26 million.”

Obama declared, “[W]e need earmark reform. And when I’m president, I will go line by line to make sure that we are not spending money unwisely.”

    • However, in February, Obama passed his $787 billion stimulus aimed at jolting the declining U.S. economy. Before a joint session of Congress, Obama declared: “Now, I’m proud that we passed a recovery plan free of earmarks.”
    • U.S. News & World Report found at least eight earmarks in his stimulus bill.
    • Obama also signed a $410 billion omnibus bill for 2009. More than 9,000 earmarks in the spending bill total an estimated $7.7 billion.

Obama pledged to make college “affordable for all Americans” when he announced his American Opportunity Tax Credit.

    • “This universal and fully refundable credit will ensure that the first $4,000 of a college education is completely free for most Americans, and will cover two-thirds the cost of tuition at the average public college or university and make community college tuition completely free for most students. Recipients of the credit will be required to conduct 100 hours of community service.”
    • While the American Opportunity Tax Credit was included in the recent stimulus bill, it offers a credit of only $2,500 for up to two years and requires no commitment to community service.

During the campaign, Obama criticized President Bush for issuing “signing statements,” attached letters to congressionally-passed bills that add interpretation and instruction on how to carry out the law.

Now, on the campaign trail this year, do you suppose he would like to talk about his budget, or nonexistence of one? Perhaps Solyndra? Gas Prices? Shovel ready jobs that were also nonexistent? Massive deficit spending with no results? How about that 5 trillion in added deficit to the national debt? (At least Bush’s debt went to rid the world of terrorists and dictators!) SCOTUS repealing Obamacare in June as unconstitutional? GSA scandal? Nope, but he sure talks about Trayvon Martin!

I think that it's funny how raising big money from rich people ($37,500 a plate dinners) is good when it's for Obama but evil when it's for someone else. This is truly the silly season.

Rich people are evil, unless they support Obama, then they're somehow less evil.

And even though Obama earned, by his own tax return's numbers, more than twice what you need to be in the 1% (which is 380k/yr, look it up before you embarrass yourself), he's not evil either.

Why would you think that I would embarrass myself? For all the railing about the rich not paying enough, I noticed that the Obamas each took advantage of gifting their children money and took every deduction allowable. If they truly thought that they should pay more, they could have not taken any deductions. Like all good liberals, Obama is a hypocrite.

Go USA, I didn't mean you would embarrass yourself, I meant the usual chuckle-heads who show up in droves here that usually embarrass themselves by saying 380k/yr isn't in the 1% and Obama isn't in the 1%.

I agree, Obama and all his supporters are laughable hypocrites saying rich people are the enemy, but are OK as long as they support and donate to Obama.

The irony being that Obama is the one with a job he's supposed to be doing. He has utterly given up governing in favor of campaigning. Everywhere he goes and everything he says is 100% reelection. Look at the time he's wasted on his ridiculous "Buffet rule". He knows it won't pass, he knows at best it will generate enough money in a year to run the government for 11 hours, he know that at worst it will create a net loss in revenue, but he still gives speech after speech about it because he knows the sheeple lap it up.

My, my, the irony is so thick on the Obama adoration posts. Now, they hate rich people, except when it's Obama's money. They hate super-pacs except when its Obama profiting. They hate corporations and big oil except when they donate to Obama. I think I now understand, anything Obama does is A-Ok with his loyal followers. Lie, cheat, steal, doesn't matter, it's Obama and we will call anyone disagreeing with him terrible names and accuse them of all sorts of terrible things. When Obama does the exact same terrible things, well, its Bush's fault.

None so blind as those who swallow propaganda and reguritate it ad nauseum. Obama was lying before he even got elected and he hasn't quit yet but his sycophantic followers will ignore those lies, apparently they have no choice, small minds are incapable of reason or thinking for themselves. They will parrot his rhetoric and handly little catch-phrases, not once looking at the facts or the truth. If Obama says it, why, its good enough for me...tragically they vote.

If you really want to know who the wealthy people think will win, look at the donations. It is more probable that a sitting president will be reelected than not (by a 2:1 margin) so the smart money always bets with the incumbant. Most really big companies also hedge by putting some money with both parties.

While this year will be the first to run under the auspices of the Citizens United, the real impact of that decision will be felt in the 2016 campaign when every potential candidate will have his/her own "American Crossroads / Crossroads GPS " to support him/her, and the ability of candidates to pull money from worldwide sources, both individuals and corporations, will be fully utilized. Since the GPS/US Chamber of Commerce type organizations are not prohibited from accepting foreign donations, are not limited in what they receive and do not have to disclose their donors, their truly is no limit to what can happen. The 2016 campaign will truly be one where the Whitehouse is bought.

The demise of the United States as a democratic republic can be directly traced to the election of Ronald Reagan. Without his treasonous utilzation of the hostages in Iran, his election and the appointments he made would not allowed him to pack the Supreme Court with political hacks who appointed George W. Bush who eventually additional hacks who supported what has to be the worst decision in US history since Plessy vs. Ferguson.

Not at all. I'm a good liberal, and I'm hardly a hypocrite.

In La-La Land, a wealthy person who supports tax fairness is a hypocrite, whereas on the planet Earth that is generally regarded as being principled. Whereas a wealthy person who opposes tax fairness is a "job creator," whereas on the planet Earth that person is actually a greedy jerk.

It certainly is interesting that Corzine is the still a big bundler for the president even though he somehow lost over a billion of other people's money. Mitt Romney Donates Entire Inheritance to BYU College Scholarship Funds
      Posted on March 2, 2012

When Mitt Romney’s father passed away in 1995, he left an inheritance to Mitt totaling $1 million. Romney turned around and donated that inheritance money to Brigham Young University for the George W. Romney School of Public Management. This is an institute of public management that helps young people learn about government and about serving in public service.

The money goes to economically disadvantaged students wishing to purse a higher education in the field of public management and government.

But Romney’s charitable giving’s did not begin nor stop with his giving away of his entire inheritance he received in 1995.

      Donating 2002 Olympic Salary

Running an Olympics comes with a hefty salary, $275,000 per year to be exact and for Romney that would have been a total of $825,000. However, when Romney was asked to rescue the Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah when it was bleeding hundreds-of-millions of dollars due to fraud, abuse and mismanagement, instead of taking the salary for himself,he donate his entire salary + severance payments to charitable organizations as well as donating $1 MILLION of his own money to the Olympics.

Refusing Salary as Governor of Massachusetts

When Romney was asked by state leaders and prominent member in the state of Mass. to run for governor because their state had a $3 BILLION deficit while having the highest unemployment rate in the country; Romney not only said he would take on the task, but when he did win the election he refused to take the $135,000 annual salary his entire term as governor.

      Continued Charitable Giving

The Romney’s give millions annually to charities either through their church, their charitable organization or organizations directly. The Romney’s tax returns that were release this past January 2012 show that the Romney’s donated over $4 million alone to charity via their church and other organizations in 2011 and another $3 million in 2010. Other reports also go on to note that the Romney’s give about 16% of their income to charity annually.

Ironically, we can find the left bashing the Romney’s for where they give their money – because clearly unless you give away YOUR MONEY to charities the left does not approve of, then it does not count. Here, the HuffPo is acknowledging the millions the Romney’s give away every year while bashing them for giving most of that money to their church as though the church does not turn around and help out those less fortunate with it.

The other candidates have to pay for their transportation.

The one's giving money to Obama are the first in line for all the government goodies he will shovel their way. Look at Corzine, still bundling away (rather than sitting in prison) and what all did he get from O'bama? How many billions did he lose? Nice return on the investments, ambassadorships, mega-millions and billions and imunity from prosecution. Buffet, Obama's good buddy, still owes how much to the IRS? Hell, I'd give money to Obama if I knew he was going to give me some REALLY good payback.

You mean having someone like Corzine heading Obama's campaign?

Jon Corzine -- under federal and congressional investigation following accusations that the securities firm he headed illegally took clients' funds before collapsing -- is among President Obama's top re-election campaign bundlers, raising at least $500,000, according to the campaign’s filing Friday with the Federal Election Commission.

Corzine, the former New Jersey senator and governor, and former head of Goldman Sachs, is among 127 individuals (dubbed “volunteer fundraisers” in the parlance used by Obama’s Chicago campaign) credited with raising more than $500,000 through the first quarter of 2012.

Between all the Hollywood Elite constantly invited to the Whitehouse, or whatever musician Obama likes at the moment. It's no wonder he is raising more money. Oh, and I think most of them would qualify in the 1percent.

Times have changed: rightwingnuts complaining about the wealth of a president and crying about rich donors paying over $38,000/plate in support of a Democratic president. Sounds more like sour grapes than anything. Just goes to show, us elitist liberals seem to be doing OK.

It was sold in 2008 to the candidate who threw the most money at it. Sad thing is that Obama had so many promises for change, and the only changes I have felt is that my company had to cut our insurance benifits because they were better than Obama's requirements and it now costs more than double every time I need fuel for my car.

Here is how, pay attention now. The senate will look at the houses bill, then write their own bill to pass. Of course there is no way to even come close to the house bill, so they would draft a completely new one, even with input from the republicans. They would put it up for debate, but ONE senator would filibuster it because the president would say, "This looks fine to me if we could reconcile with the house." which we know would not happen. So in the meantime, we pass continuing resolutions. Simple as that.

Then take a look at all the companies that have moved jobs overseas... I little update for my Republican friends.

I said, WORK WITH, not cow to. I never expected the Republican Congress to go against conservative principles and wouldn't have wanted them to. But that's not what happened. What did happen is Republicans refused EVERYTHING Obama did. Hell many even complained when he ordered Team 6 to take Bin Laden out.

Sorry but Republicans made this economy crash in the first place by refusing to work with Democrats under Bush II and are as culpable under Obama refusing to work with him to help speed up the recovery.

Are Democrats to blame too? Yes, but not nearly as much as are Republicans...

              That's the facts jacks.

This is what we have to look forward to, scary!

The budget details 210 places where programs will be cut or eliminated, for savings of $24 billion in 2013 and $520 billion over a decade.

And the budget proposes consolidating the Bureau of Public Debt and the Treasury's Financial Management Service.

The president would also like to cut some mandatory spending, including select farm subsidies and federal employee retirement and health benefits, for savings of $217 billion over a decade.

Military spending will be reduced. The Pentagon plans to spend $487 billion less over 10 years, a course that Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has already laid out in some detail.

But even with some cuts, annual deficits are still projected to be more than $500 billion every year for the next decade, and the budget would add $7 trillion to the debt held by the public between 2013 and 2022.

Taxes: The budget proposes a tax hike of $1.5 trillion, which includes a provision that will allow the Bush tax cuts to expire for high-income earners, a long-held Obama position.

Obama would like carried interest to be taxed as ordinary income, which means money managers would pay more than double the rate they currently pay on a portion of their compensation.

'Dirty Harry' weighs in on deficit

The budget also incorporates the Buffett Rule, a guideline to ensure that the wealthiest do not pay a lower overall tax rate than those who earn substantially less money.

Specifically, no household making more than $1 million will be a allowed to pay less than 30% of its income in taxes.

It also calls for a year-long extension of the payroll tax cut and unemployment insurance.

In addition, the White House wants to reform the individual tax code in a way that "eliminates inefficient and unfair tax breaks for millionaires while making all tax breaks at least as good for the middle class as for the wealthy."

On corporate taxes, details are scarce, but administration officials said that the president will unveil a plan to reform the corporate tax code later this month.

Entitlements: Because the president's budget does little to address how to curb the growth in entitlement spending, it's unlikely to stabilize deficits beyond the next 10 years.

              National debt: The five-minute primer

The budget would cut more than $360 billion from Medicare, Medicaid and other health programs over a decade. But that's a drop in the bucket when compared to the rapid expansion of costs expected for entitlement programs.

"While [Obama's] budget stabilizes debt over the next decade, the real problem arrives thereafter, as entitlement costs spiral out of control and revenues are inadequate to deal with a wave of retiring baby boomers," Pete Domenici and Alice Rivlin, who led their own debt task force, said in a joint statement.

Of course, proposing significant cuts to Medicare and Social Securityduring an election year is a politically risky move, but by not saying much on the issue, the White House opened itself to criticism.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers took Obama to task on Monday, saying the proposal "falls exceptionally short" on entitlement spending reform.

"It is imperative that both the President and Congress put greater focus on addressing the exploding costs of these programs," Rogers said. "Without meaningful action in this area, the nation's debt and deficit crisis will continue, increasing the risk to our nation's financial and economic future."

What's next: Obama's budget request is essentially a blueprint of his fiscal priorities -- the programs he would like to fund or cut, the new investments he would make and how he would pay for it all.

But the request is just that -- a request. And it's one that Congress can accept, reject or modify.

Even if Obama's budget is adopted -- which it won't be -- the estimates for deficit reduction may or may not pan out depending on how close to reality the administration's forecasts for unemployment, interest rates and economic growth prove to be.

In any case, Obama's 2013 budget is only the first step in a convoluted process that involves no less than 40 congressional committees, 24 subcommittees, countless hearings and a number of floor votes in the House and Senate.

If all goes well, a formal federal budget for government agencies will be in place by Oct. 1, the start of the 2013 fiscal year.

Sheepdog, Here are some of Romney's Ideas.

Exercise fiscal responsibility to restore economic opportunity.
Washington is addicted to deficit spending. As President, Mitt Romney will cut spending to finally move our nation toward a balanced budget.

During the Bush years, the nation’s deficit—the gap between what Washington collects and spends each year—hovered between 2 percent and 4 percent of GDP. These levels were already problematic and a cause for concern. During the Obama administration, however, the deficit exploded to 10 percent of GDP.

One major problem with sky-high deficit spending is that it necessarily leads to another practice that undermines the nation’s fiscal foundation: borrowing unhealthy sums to pay for what we already cannot afford. America is on an unsustainable path that, within just a few short years, will cripple the economy and foreclose any opportunity for recovery.

Mitt Romney will bring fiscal restraint to Washington by placing a hard cap on federal spending to force our government to live within its means and put an end to deficit spending.

Mitt will also curb federal spending by repealing Obamacare, the federal takeover of health care that is scheduled to cost taxpayers one trillion dollars over the next ten years. He will also focus on eliminating wasteful government spending and right-sizing the federal government to save taxpayer dollars.

Mitt Romney’s goal is to put the federal government on a course toward a balanced budget and true fiscal responsibility.

Reform entitlement programs to keep them solvent and put America on a path to prosperity.
Federal spending on entitlement programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security has not only spiraled out of control, but has placed their very solvency in danger. Unfortunately, President Obama has failed in his fundamental responsibility to articulate a serious vision and plan for the future of these programs. At present, the total cost of U.S. entitlement programs accounts for more than half of all federal spending. Combined with interest payments on the national debt, so-called “mandatory” spending is over 60 percent of all federal spending.

Many of our fellow citizens have no idea that our growing entitlement spending has created a looming crisis. This is because politicians have a habit of hiding our country’s long-term liabilities. Mitt Romney believes that the federal government should publish a balance sheet each year—just as it requires public companies to do—so that Americans can understand the burden that future entitlement spending will place on our budget and economy. Over the course of his campaign, Mitt will propose the specific steps he will take as President to ensure the long-term solvency of Medicare and Social Security. While reforms are needed, Mitt also believes that these changes should not reduce benefits for current seniors or break the promises they have relied upon for their economic security in retirement.

Mitt knows that our economic future—along with the future of entitlement programs—depends on fundamental reform. If we wisely begin to reform entitlements and commit to live within our means, we can bestow on the next generation an America that is stronger and even more prosperous than the one we know today.

By way of propositions (initiatives) we the people of each state can enact a state law mandating public elected officials sign a pledge (contract) to refrain from accepting campaign contributions from any entity other than those they were elected to represent in an official capacity in whatever legislative body.

Such a law is constitutional insofar as every constituent (citizen) has their own elected representative to whatever affective legislative body.

Guarantee yourself some votes Mr. Obama by taking that campaign money and putting it toward the deficit that has grown by leaps and bounds instead of wasting it on "change" propaganda.

Jax - great point. Republican rich = Evil; Democrat rich = Soft & Cuddly. Not quite sure how that works? Obama's mind meld has definitely worked on his automaton followers. Somehow me thinks the independent voters will definitely see through his scam. Personally I'm waiting for the debates..should be good. Having absolutely no discernible record, numerous questionable investments in green companies, and F&F will be tough - if not impossible - to defend.

Exactly...I can just see Obama's debating now...high unemployment, record debt, our downgraded credit rating, high gas prices, housing mess...is, um, er, STILL Bush's fault!!! And, and ...um, er...F&F and Solyndra are Bush's fault! and...and... The secret service getting prostitutes is Bush's fault!!!

Blaming Bush has worked for 4 years for Obama, why would he change that debating technique now, especially when his followers and the press repeat it daily for him?

Obama is just what America needs! Four more years of excuses, a terrible economy, record deficits and debt, high forclosure rate, high unemployment, and division by race, religion, economic status, gender and employment status. Who could ask for anything else when you've got it all in one package?

Hope and Change I hope I have some change left in November once he's gone.

His policy's turned my dollars into change.

Obama certainly has more campaign money than Romney! Seems Romney knows how to be thrifty and budget. These are good signs Romney will make a good president. He cerrtainly knows how to manage his own wealth. This is also a good sign he will be a good money manager of our country's resources and finances. Go Romney.

Not to mention raiding hard working Americans retirement funds and sending their jobs overseas. One good thing would surely happen..less pollution, since there would be even less driving to work. Oh, another good thing would be we would be net exporters of oil, since no one could afford to buy gas for their beaters or homes, if they somehow keep them.

Maybe mittens wants to put an elevator for the limo in the WH!! He is so good at thift becauses he "likes to fire people" and doesn't care about the poor because they have a net of programs to protect them which is why him and Ryan have to tear down... He made a lot of his money by buying companies and then selling them off in pieces at the cost of the workers... I wonder what states he is planning to sell to China, if he gains the WH... This country was never designed to be run as a company, the USSR tried and it didn't work...

Hmm...Mr. Romney's statement that $374,327.62 in speaking fees is "not very much"...a $10,000 bet challenge to Perry in a televised GOP debate...an estimated $25,000 car elevator to in order "save parking space"? All relative, I realize, but are these (among other) examples REALLY indicative of "being thrifty"?

jdmbo, please pay attention. Perhaps google Mit Romney. That should take you to a wikipedia page and it will tell you all about his life. Then look at some of the other web sites you will find. If you can't do that, turn on faux news Fox News Channel. Then believe the opposite of what they are telling you.

Redhead - To insult someones looks shows your lack of intelligence, and speaks volumes about your character. It must be hard living with all that hate.
If you would try to respect others you will have many more friends than if you act with disrespect toward them. You might even find a real friend in society, not just a virtual one.

JD these are just trolls. You can't get through to them. I am an educated professional as is my husband. We have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. My hair is blonde- but if I wanted it to be green it would be. My husband runs a large manufacturing company, and we have both been hiring Managers most of our adult lives. You can't do battle with people who lack fortitude, manners, and general conversational ability. In person these people are normally the shy, secluded and nearly depressed people who don't function in the real world on any level. They simply don't affect me. Thanks for the effort though. I am from California, have lived in Colorado for 10 years and we also have a home in Mexico, and one in Texas. Have a good night.

Actually, srich, if they didn't affect you, then you just wouldn't answer. So is your litany of all the material stuff that you have supposed to make you a better person or something? From someone who has been in the hiring business her entire work life, I wouldn't want to work for or with you. Your projections are pretty unbelievable. Actually, you're probably what those of us in the biz would refer to as a "bad manager." Anyway, you might want to lighten up. If you don't like what people say, ignore them. It just makes you look dumb otherwise. Actually, while I generally agree with Fiesty, I would say the same thing to her. Insulting people isn't particularly helpful.

Srich - I am actually sorry that I got personal. I got on a rant and feel kind of bad about that. I am diametrically opposed to your politics but I didn't like where this went and I do apologize.

Happy for your success and all those homes, however. I probably do lack manners somewhat because I have a tendency to shoot off my mouth but I am not shy, secluded or depressed and I function quite well in the real world, thank you very much. I have one home in Florida. See - you did get through to me.

I think the thing that amuses me the most about First Read is people like Srich, who come on posturing about how educated, wealthy and are so full of ennui, that they must needs lecture their betters. You can see through them each and every time, and I always wind up feeling very sorry for them. We know, and have always known that those who brag about what they are; simply aren't

Except in their own little brains.

Another thing I have learned over the years at FR:

People like Srich, who make accusations of multiple accounts against other posters, do that to excuse their own behavior creating multiple accounts.

You, Srich, are simply too predictable and boring to be believed.

Easy prediction: Poor Srich will come back, since she MUST have the last word, she does after all believe that she is amongst the elite, and tell me that I am a multiple poster of Feisty.

Why? She cannot conceive that the world does not breathlessly agree with every word that falls out of her mouth!

But kindness to the less erudite causes me to allow her to have the last word. I simply have better things to do.

Oh Kim I'm so flattered! Are you stalking me? Would you like my bathroom schedule? My work out schedule? You seem so intrigued by my activities? Here is what I know.....I have the nerve to put a photo of myself up- you have a cat with giant ears! Might you be a bit hefty? This is normally the case. The redhead...here is what we know of redheads: 95% are butt ugly where might feisty be in here? Looking at her avatar I'm betting she is in the 95% range. I was accused of a face lift??? Why is that anyone's business? Not yet, but if I want one- I'll keep you posted on the matter. The both of you threw insults at me that were so personal in nature and so immature I began to wonder if perhaps you were 13 years old? I was called Kermit the frog??? Really? That's all you two have? You sound like jealous, ugly, bitter young women if you in fact are not the same person, you just joined in with her because you are a follower. Never a leader. Do I think I'm better than you? Not at all, I was taught manners, this would be the difference. Snap out of it and grow up, maybe consider charm school or get a hobby. Seriously you ladies get off on pure evil behavior. That's pretty odd.

For the record, I think you are a class act. I am honestly a forward thinker, and I can always respect anyone's opinion even if I disagree. The whole conversation was so very odd..... I still feel a bit puzzled about the entire event. I guess in general I treat people very well, and they do the same in return for me. I see the tides turning on the internet- proof positive that I'm getting old ; ) The ability to hide behind a screen name is turning many people very ugly. Not just on the left, but the right as well. Thanks for the note and have a good night yosolo.

Srich - Geeze - I did apologize for getting personal. Once again - I am sorry. In retrospect, I notice on the posts above that you went after Feisty initially.

Tilly, the cat, is an Abyssinian and they have very large ears, skinny legs and are very smart. I could, by the way, stand to loose a couple of pounds and I would rather look at a picture of my cat than one of myself. Feisty and I are not one in the same person. Anything else you want to know?

That was HYSTERICAL! Srich, coming back on with an insulting demeaning post, all the time reassuring herself that she is above all of that!

Feisty: Srich is 10 years old, emotionally that is.

Kim, no need to apologize to those who are without class or grace. Srich has neither!

yosolo: if you are trying to encourage civil dialogue, why then do you start with the premise that one group, that you stereotype is, unable to to do the same? Shows that you aren't interested in dialogue, you only want to bully others into agreeing with you.

Feisty - I guess you are right - I will just have to refrain from getting too personal in the future or just suck it up and deal with the fact that I have a big mouth. Tilly, my Abyssinian, was part of a litter of 4 kittens (all females) whose mother had been hit by a car and killed. The kittens were 3-weeks old. She had to be bottle fed and I got her at a cat rescue center. Don't know how they ended as strays. She is 8-mo old and crazy!

newday - I guess Srich thought she was getting back at us. I was kind of having fun with the whole thing after a while. I guess I am an evil person.

New Day (Feisty), its so original to compare me to a 10 year old child after I compared both of you to a 13 year old. Why not just copy and paste my insults? I think you panicked just a tad when you saw some civility...it tends to compromise your momentum. "Without class and grace".. coming from you, my heart is just broken......????

Kim all nastiness aside I think you tried to be decent at the end. It's quite easy to jump on the negative band wagon especially when they encourage the nastiness. I do like the story about the kittens and the rescue, good luck with your little one. I have two rescued parrots I have adopted, one from Mexican flea market and he was in bad shape when I found him. All my pets are rescues actually. My oldest cat is 17 years old.

In any case "New Day, Feisty, horse photo, whomever you are, you win, you are rude, horrible, demeaning, foul mouthed, and hey, if that's the way you wished to be perceived then so be it. I think this is a giant game for you, and I think what you do has zero to do with politics. Yes, feel free to have the last word, I'm sure it will be classy.

Feisty and newday are none of the things you described. We just tend to "circle the wagons" when under attack. Diversity makes the world go round.

"Circle the wagons" no, you personally attack those who challenge your motivations. You didn't appreciate being treated the same way. Some people need no "circled wagons" to make a point. Try standing on your own for a change. I have no problem with diversity, as a matter of fact perhaps you should take your own advise. Using VERY personal insults because our values don't align brings out the truth in the way you want the world to respect diversity.

Yep - let's talk about 'silver spoons'...seems to me the POTUS is not actually 'one of us'. Why does he not donate it to all of those he is supporting politically (those who chose not to work, but continue to have kids and live on welfare)? I know - $104 million is a drop in the bucket of the deficit increase since Obama was elected, but it would help. A whole lot of money raised and he hasn't even started his 'formal' campaign...I agree with nancy-d and Kim-3738509...he has been campaigning this whole term with the intention of steering us towards socialism.

Socialism is the government control of all means of production, the elimination of 'classes' - redistribution of wealth, the control of health care, and the squashing of private enterprise. I was in Yugoslavia in the early 70's - they bragged that 'socialism was different from communism, because a family could own their own company and employ two members outside their family'. The current administration wants equality for all - whether some work harder than others. I do not feel I should have to work my butt off for as many years as I have to not be able to enjoy my hard work - why should I have to pay more than my fair share when others chose to not work at all. Gerry,

                    Thank you for taking the time to respond. Here is the definition of socialism according to Merriam-Webster;

                    Definition of SOCIALISM

1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

2a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state

3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

None of which is happening in America...

Feisty - Notice how if we are Democrats and/or liberals, we are one or all of the following: un-employed welfare whores; Socialists; Communists; baby killers; god-less heathens, etc. Why can't we just be people who disagree with them (in addition to being waaaay smarter, he, he, he)?

Let's see, government bailout and stock ownership in GM.

Government takeover and control of the health care industry through Obamacare.

Government investment (very poor decisions) via loans to Solyndra.

It is happening - please tell me how the government under Obama is encouraging private enterprise. He is attempting to equalize the wealth of the citizenry. I believe in helping those who truly need help, but not supporting those who can work, but chose not to...also, those who receive free medical care, when my husband and I pay over $700/month in health insurance with a $1500/each deductible. Those who receive food stamps - yet do not work. Do you think this is right? I do not. Are you pleased with our economy? I am not...Are you optimistic about the future - I am not.

Of course not - it could be better & it will. You can't wave a magic wand & undo the damage overnight.

Are you optimistic about the future - I am not.

I sure am providing we re-elect President Obama. We cannot go back to the same failed policies that drive us into the ditch to begin with.

As for the rest of you comments - in my opinion they are stereotypical and I will not waste time trying to sway you...

I will agree on the insurance costs which is why Obamacare should of contained a public option.

Again, thank you for your thoughts!

The thought of supporting Santorum has never crossed my mind. I am concerned about what is happening here in the US NOW. Obama has done nothing EXCEPT blame Bush for everything he promised to do, but has not accomplished. I did not mention any 'color' of those on food stamps - just said I am tired of supporting those who can work, but chose not to. I do not care if they are polka-dotted! That is 'what' I am talking about ~

1896, Amer.Eng. from feist "small dog," from fice, fist (Amer.Eng., 1805) "small dog;" short for fysting curre "stinking cur," attested from 1520s, from M.E. fysten, fisten "break wind" (mid-15c.); related to O.E. fisting "stink." The 1811 slang dictionary defines fice as "a small windy escape backwards,

"fire-blower, ash-blower," from an unrecorded O.N. source, used in M.E. for a kind of bellows, but originally "a term of reproach among northern nations for an unwarlike fellow who stayed at home in the chimney corner" [OED].

I fail to see how anyone actually believes Romney cares about anything other then Romney.

Romney will say and do anything for money and power, ANYTHING!

Romney thinks it is his turn to be President, because the Rich are entitled to things like power.

I doubt anyone who says they actually believe in Romney and that Romney will not flip-flop again and throw you all under the bus when it suits Romney for money or power.

                    Romney-Care anyone? Whats the difference?

The difference is in the federal government assuming powers that are reserved for the state, something our President should have known given his background in Constitutional law.

We were already thrown under the bus. Obama is getting support from all the cover ups who started this mess. Mandatory unqualified bank loans and corrupt government banking practices. And it all fell in Bush's lap which Obama thinks he inherited. Some peoples brains just can't seem to sort it out. The media of course has done its share of victimizing the vulnerable. The problem at this point is not Romney nor was it Bush it was what transpired before them and now it is Obama and the media who is widening that fault.

                    "Cool Mike Pro

Sometimes, this facet of Romney’s personality isn’t so subtle. In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, had disappeared. She had attended a rave party in New York City and gotten high on ecstasy. Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was. Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search. He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in New York, and asked them to help find his friend’s missing daughter. Romney’s accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper. Romney and the other Bain employees scoured every part of New York and talked with everyone they could – prostitutes, drug addicts – anyone.

I fail to see how anyone actually believes Romney cares about anything other then Romney"

That day, their hunt made the evening news, which featured photos of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. As a result, a teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up abruptly. The NYPD traced the call to a home in New Jersey, where they found the girl in the basement, shivering and experiencing withdrawal symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose. Doctors later said the girl might not have survived another day. Romney’s former partner credits Mitt Romney with saving his daughter’s life, saying, “It was the most amazing thing, and I’ll never forget this to the day I die.”

So, here’s my epiphany: Mitt Romney simply can’t help himself. He sees a problem, and his mind immediately sets to work solving it, sometimes consciously, and sometimes not-so-consciously. He doesn’t do it for self-aggrandizement, or for personal gain. He does it because that’s just how he’s wired.

Many people are unaware of the fact that when Romney was asked by his old employer, Bill Bain, to come back to Bain & Company as CEO to rescue the firm from bankruptcy, Romney left Bain Capital to work at Bain & Company for an annual salary of one dollar. When Romney went to the rescue of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, he accepted no salary for three years, and wouldn’t use an expense account. He also accepted no salary as Governor of Massachusetts.

Character counts!! (and yes...that's worth reading again!)

Yeah, Romney is obviously a total jerk, what has Obama ever done for anyone other than himself? You are a jerk of the first variety.

                        http://www.villagevoice.com/2012-04-18/news/Mitt-Romney-american-parasite/

His specialty was flipping companies—or what he often calls "creative destruction." It's the age-old theory that the new must constantly attack the old to bring efficiency to the economy, even if some companies are destroyed along the way. In other words, people like Romney are the wolves, culling the herd of the weak and infirm.

His formula was simple: Bain would purchase a firm with little money down, then begin extracting huge management fees and paying Romney and his investors enormous dividends.

In the midst of that 1994 campaign, one of Romney's companies, American Pad & Paper, bought a plant in Marion, Indiana. At the time, it was prosperous enough to be running three shifts.

Bain's first move was to fire all 258 workers, then invite them to reapply for their jobs at lower wages and a 50 percent cut in health care benefits.

Private equity companies like Bain rarely buy anything but profitable firms for one compelling reason: The patient must be healthy enough to be force-fed all that debt. So it's something of a misnomer for Republican opponents to slur him as a "vulture capitalist."

"Romney is not a vulture capitalist, as Rick Perry says, since vultures eat dead carcasses," notes Josh Kosman, who has written about the private equity business for 15 years. He's "more of a parasitic capitalist, since he destroys profitable businesses."

The Armco plant closing involved more than the torching of 750 jobs, Morrow says. Contractors and suppliers collapsed. Workers' children and widows lost health care and pension benefits. And while Bain received millions in tax breaks—paid for by the very people left holding the bag—Romney walked away millions richer.

Even Kaplan admits that private equity firms rarely create jobs. Workers are seen as costs, and costs are the enemy. According to Kosman, Romney was in truth among the most heinous job-killers of them all.

While writing his book, Kosman conducted an interview with a Bain managing partner. The man told him that when Bain was about to buy a company, its partners would hold a meeting. "He said that about half the time [they] would talk about cutting workers," Kosman says. "They would never talk about adding workers. He said that job growth was never part of the plan."

Romney has professed his admiration for Ronald Reagan. But judging by his business history, the president he most resembles is Vladimir Putin. Romney has devoted his life to ensuring that every last penny rises to a few hands at the top. And like Putin, he has never shown much concern for the countrymen he tramples along the way.

"The word 'oligarchy' comes to mind," says Michael Keating when asked to envision a Romney presidency.

Keating is a former business consultant and executive at Bertelsmann, a multinational investment firm that operates in 63 countries. He asserts that men like Romney "hide their antisocial actions behind a rhetoric of free-market capitalist platitudes. But in the end, it's all about the bottom line—and only their own bottom line . . ."

Jesus didn't say anything about having to tithe to an organized church. You know... Jesus CHRIST?

Jesus paid tithes to Ceasar through Peter and the Sanhedron as the lamb of god (the god of Shem).

Jesus said, "Give to Ceasar what is Ceasar's".....in other words, if you owe taxes, then pay them!!! AFTER that....pay your tithes to the church with what you have left.

The only three times he mentioned it, in particular, in the text, is when he was castigating the pharisees who claimed that Judaic practice as evidence of virtue. Look it up.
