According to the latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, President Barack Obama has large leads among women, Hispanics and independents and is viewed as being more in touch with the middle class, but Mitt Romney is seen as more likely to have "good ideas for how to improve the economy." NBC's Chuck Todd reports.
With the Republican presidential primary season essentially over and with the general election campaign now under way, President Barack Obama begins the race with a six-point lead over presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
Obama’s advantage is fueled by his traditionally strong-standing among African Americans, Latinos and young voters, as well as with women and even political independents. What’s more, he’s viewed – by substantial margins – as more likeable, compassionate and better for the middle class than Romney.
Click here for a copy of the polling results (pdf)
But the poll also shows that the president’s biggest weakness – the economy – is also Romney’s strength. And with Republicans beginning to rally around the former Massachusetts governor and with the GOP especially enthusiastic about November’s election, the race has the potential to be close, the NBC/WSJ pollsters say.

President Barack Obama; Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
“You are projecting a very, very close campaign,” said Republican pollster Bill McInturff, who conducted the survey with Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart.
“It is going to look like 2004 or 2000,” Hart added, referring to George W. Bush’s extremely narrow victories in those two presidential contests. “There are plenty of things that suggest it has a long, long way to go.”

Obama running strong with his base and key swing groups
This week featured a flurry of national polls that showed varying results: A CNN poll had Obama up by nine; the Pew Research Center had the president up four; a New York Times/CBS poll had it even; and the Gallup Daily Tracking Poll currently has Romney up by five.
But in this NBC/WSJ poll, Obama leads Romney among registered voters, 49 percent to 43 percent – a margin that has been fairly consistent in the survey since the beginning of the year; the president led Romney in March, 50 percent to 44 percent.
Looking inside these numbers, the president holds an advantage with African Americans (90 percent to 4 percent), Latinos (69 percent to 22 percent) voters ages 18-34 (60 percent to 34 percent) and women (53 percent to 41 percent).
In addition, he edges Romney among key swing groups like independents (44 percent to 34 percent), Midwest voters (47 percent to 44 percent) and suburban women (48 percent to 45 percent).
Meanwhile, Romney is ahead among whites (52 percent to 40 percent), suburban voters (49 percent to 44 percent) and those expressing high interest in the election (49 percent to 46 percent).
In measuring key attributes and qualities, Obama also enjoys significant leads on being easygoing and likeable (54 percent to 18 percent); on caring about average people (52 percent to 22 percent); on dealing with issues of concern to women (49 percent to 21 percent); and on looking out for the middle class (48 percent to 27 percent).
He’s also ahead of Romney when it comes to being knowledgeable and experienced about the presidency (45 percent to 30 percent), being a good commander-in-chief (43 percent to 33 percent), being consistent and standing up for his beliefs (41 percent to 30 percent), and being honest and straightforward (37 percent to 30 percent).

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney meets with a group of Pittsburgh-area residents in Bethel Park, Pa.
Romney’s economic edge
But Romney’s advantage comes on what will probably be the No. 1 issue in the fall: the economy.
By a 40-34 percent margin, respondents believe Romney would be better when it comes to having good ideas for improving the economy. And Romney also edges Obama on changing "business as usual" in Washington.
Thirty-eight percent think the economy will improve within the next year, 19 percent say it will get worse and 42 percent believe it will stay the same.
Those numbers – which come after a disappointing March jobs report, which showed the unemployment rate declining to 8.2 percent but which also showed the economy adding a less-than-expected 120,000 jobs – are fairly consistent with the findings from January and March.
Obama’s economic improvement
Just 45 percent approve of the president’s handling of the economy, which is unchanged from March.
But that standing is an improvement from the summer and fall of 2011, when his economic handling was below 40 percent.
Obama’s overall job-approval rating stands at 49 percent – which, not surprisingly, matches his ballot-test percentage against Romney. (His percentage also is similar to the job-approval numbers of what the last two incumbents who won-re-election, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, had in the NBC/WSJ poll at this same point in the race.)
Two new polls show the 2012 general election matchup remains close. On the subject of the economy, Mitt Romney is beating President Barack Obama. The Washington Post's Dana Milbank discuss, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad talk about the polls and explain why Obama continues to push the narrative that Romney is out-of-touch with the American people.
In addition, a plurality – 36 percent – believes the president’s policies have helped U.S. economic conditions, while 33 percent say they’ve hurt the economy. Thirty percent say they haven’t made a difference.
That’s a big change from last year, when only about 20 percent said Obama’s policies had helped the economy.
And those percentages are matched pretty evenly against a Republican: 37 percent say a GOP candidate winning the presidency would help the economy, 28 percent say he would hurt it and 31 percent said it wouldn't make a difference.
“The president is in better shape than he was” in 2011, says Hart, the Democratic pollster.
Testing the economic messages
What also seems to be in better shape is Obama’s economic messaging.
More than three-quarters of respondents (including nearly 70 percent of independents and Republicans) say they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who “will fight for balance and fairness and encourage the investments needed to grow our economy and strengthen the middle class,” which has become a standard line for Obama.
In addition, seven in 10 say they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who “says America is better off when everyone gets a fair shot, does their fair share, and plays by the same rules” – another Obama line.
By comparison, 64 percent would be more likely to support a candidate who wants “to restore the values of economic freedom, opportunity, and small government,” which strongly resembles Romney’s economic messaging.
And 61 percent would be more likely to support a candidate who says “free enterprise has done more to lift people out of poverty, help build a strong middle class, and more our lives better than all of the government’s programs put together,” which is something that Romney tends to say.
The NBC/WSJ poll was conducted April 13-17 of 1,000 respondents (250 reached by cell phone), and it has an overall margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points.

Whoo Hooo!
Let the naysayers start attacking the source in 3...2...1...
Personally, we are so far out, I don't pay much attention to poll numbers. Americans are a moody bunch!
I am confident as more of America gets introduced to Willard, the larger the gap will become...
*cookie*?
Keep dreaming. In November the Big O will be just like a lot of his NCAA picks - one and done. He is outta here.
ABO 2012
I'd kinda like to see the sample/cross tabs.
You know like the very silly CNN poll, they just always seem to either have far more dems, or just won't tell you the sample results.
Now of course we all know what they say about polls, and statistics in general, except Feisty of course.
Man, you are really are that desperate.
Dude the Rev. Al has a picture of Obama up right now - solid grey. Poor guy.
Feisty, You mean the way you thought it was "interesting" the way the Gasoline price question was worded?
Feisty:
"great deal" or "quite a bit" of impact on them and their families.
Interesting the way the question was worded...
Man if it wasn't for double standards, you would have no standards at all.
All the polls have about 10% undecided. History tells us that most of the undecided voters will eventually go with the challenger. And with either candidate getting plus or minus 3%, Obama is in big trouble and he knows it. Look at the picture. Does that look like a confident man who is focused like a laser?
You are so ignorant that it's beyond belief "Feisty".
A NBC poll? Wow! I'm "impressed".
Meanwhile, Rassmussen, who "missed" the last Presidential election by a whole .1% (that would be POINT ONE PERCENT to people like Feisty who have problems with decimal points), has had Romney ahead for a WEEK now.
And Rassmussen polls LIKELY VOTERS, not just "registered" voters. And Rassmussen makes sure their polls are equal and don't weigh in with some "extra" Democrats to make sure it goes their way like NBC has a history of doing.
Yeah, keep celebrating Feisty.
If it was not for Obama, we would have been in a hole like Europe. It is amazing how people can rate a person who has repeatedly in his business career cut or exported jobs, higher for economy, than a president who has demonstrated that jobs can still be created in this economic climate. Either the polls are wrong or the people interviewed for the polls out-fauxed.
Obama/Biden 2012
Wooohooo....such a deal.
A NBC/(WSJ) poll which is run by Media Matters via the White House input. Of course the flavor is going to be Left and for Mr. Obama.
I was wondering what Mr. Obama, and his East Wing occupants, were going to use that new MILLION dollar computer system for in the White House which was installed just after the inauguration. No, Mr. Obama, you have to LEAVE the computer system in place after you exit the White House.
Is it just me, or is Mitts head proportionately larger than his body? This makes a lot of sense.
A good example is the last picture in the article, full of hot air I suppose. If he loses any weight he's likely to topple over.
Well... that didn't take long! lol
Can I call em or WHAT?
WTF are you blathering about now?
I believe JoAnne in PA cleared that up on the thread where it belongs. You don't have to drag your ass all over the carpet...
Oh my Cheryl... you hurt my feelings! lol
Don't worry sweetie - I plan too! ;o)
I sure don't understand where they took that poll, but it must have been deep in Republican territory for anyone to actually say that the same folks who crashed our economy and ran the country into the ground, and the ones who would steal our Social Security money and cancel our Medicare, are the ones people think can fix our economy with more tax cuts for mega-millionaires and more pay cuts for American Workers. Whoever they were who said it must be on drugs. Oh, it was a "Republican Pollster". I knew something was wrong. Republicans never use actual numbers to count with, they just use the numbers they WISH they had.
Obama / Biden 2012
Where were these respondents pre-2009? So they trust Republicans/TeaPeople with the economy?....
Emotion enters and memory gets lost in poll questions/answers!
Wouldn't expect you to own your hypocrisy Feisty.
It's just not your style, now is it?
Ron Paul 2012
The delegates are not actually counted up yet. Adleson may have wasted allot of money.
I have NO idea WTF you are blabbering about, NOR do I care!
Go stalk someone else, you are not a worthy opponent!
Right on, American Girl. Keep the word out. I cannot believe it is even close. If American voters are so amnesiac, that they do not remember the economy Obama *inherited*, then the Republican Oligarchs are correct, we really are too stupid to look out for own interests.
Mr. Romney may have some past experience gutting companies and reaping the profits, but that was years ago. He professes himself to be unemployed. So who would want to hire someone that hasn't had a job in over ten years?
Some people never learn. Barack Obama fooled you once, shame on him. If he fools you again, the shame is on you.
Cheryl -- You do realize the poll was a NBC/Wall Street Journal joint effort, right? Are you aware that WSJ is a very right leaning outfit? Get real, lose the BS. Go troll somewhere else.
So WCA - I thinking of getting a new pick up truck. How much longer till the mighty GM is back to offering 72 months at 0%?
I'm thinking August. Problem is, I just don't think I could buy another Chevy. I'm hoping the Tundra gets updted soon, it's been unchanged since '07.
And come on - you think Feisty knows what 'hypocrisy' means?
I usually don't waste this much time with you Feisty, but this time I will make an exception.
On the thread that was about Gasoline prices and how Americans are impacted, you questioned the poll because you did not like the results.
On this thread, you celebrated the results of the subject question and inferred that anyone who did not like the result would question the poll.
See, that is hypocritical. Maybe you can get someone else to explain it to you while you are getting plastered later tonight.
As for weak opponents, you and Bev are in a neck and neck race.
isnt it nice to see a true conservative that will represent the top 2% but, is willing to change his stand on core issues depending on the crowd he is pandering to .. up against a true liberal that believes all Americans need to be represented
@American girl... Obama is included in the group that says cuts must be made on the obligations to SS... And you should be upset because its a trust fund of OUR money.. Not someones spending budget...
Ron Paul is the only candidate who says we have an obligation to fully make good on it. BY SLASHING A TRILLION DOLLARS OF WASTE propping up other country's economy's.
Ah shoot WCA - I think Feisty thinks the huge tax increase in Illinois was a great thing.
Not like she pays any taxes. No way, she's here, all day, everyday. No earned income with this one.
But seriously - as a shut in, what difference does the price of gas make in Feisty's life?
You're accusing me of inferring? lmao
Really?
There is a name for someone like you...
I see Spanky is back, must of finally made bail! Now you have a skirt to hide behind cause you sure can't go it on your own! ;o)
I see you still got yourself a severe case of the "Feisty Fever"... put an aspirin between you knees and call me in the morning.
I wouldn't be surprised to see that the election isn't decided yet.
Hey Spanky, $4 gas will be pushing the 72/0% plans some time this summer for sure. It will be a short window though. When it becomes clear that Romney will win, gas prices will begin to fall and the incentives will get pulled back so keep your eyes open.
Great story today in the Detroit News by Daniel Howes on how Obama wil keep playing political football with GM until after the election.
The govt needs to get out of the GM stock they have but it will take a $25 Billion dollar loss to do it. Stock needs to get to $53 to break even, it's at $25. Obama can't say he "saved GM' if it costs another $25 large.
In the meantime GM is hamstrung by having to do the govts bidding.
Good times, good times.
Feisty,
Is your *cookie* thing in reference to Willards' Cookiegate?
He insulted his hosts at a backyard grouping who had bought cookies from a very nice local bakery. He questioned whether the hostess had made them then said something about the cookies coming from a 7-11 cornerstore.
Further insult, he DID NOT eat the cookies!
Out of touch....much!
Sorry Feisty, I know infer is a tough word for you. It is the kind of word civilized adults use, so you probably haven't heard it before.
Let the naysayers start attacking the source in 3...2...1...
I was being polite, but your inabilty to answer my point and desire to pick out a word is a clear indication that you are just an epic fail.
Come on now, get the last word in. I know you can do it.
That would be the one - it's even more painful when you watch it! Can you imagine insulting your host that way?
According to CNN:
I wonder what kind Ann bakes for him...?
Nah DumbFux!
I'll leave it to the rookie!
Well it looks like 8% said neither. Come on Indies, let's get that number up! Third parties need love too.
"Obama is in big trouble and he knows it. Look at the picture. Does that look like a confident man who is focused like a laser?" No; actually he looks like he's terrified; has been hitting the Coke again and is losing weight. He's terrified that he hasn't finished his destruction of America yet and that Moochelle is going to be really mad if he isn't re-elected and her taxpayer-paid multi-million vacations are a thing of the past. Sorry, Oblamer; you had a chance and you blew it - big time!
'That would be the one - it's even more painful when you watch it! Can you imagine insulting your host that way?'
Yup, that's it.
Insulting your host must be in the playbook of 'Lifestyles of the Rich'!
Willard doesn't even know how to be polite!....Sad!
Republicans are good for the US economy like Henri Paul was a good driver for Princess Diana.
It'll be interesting this weekend WCA. Headed to Havasu - have not been for a while [super busy at work, just settled big case, thank god].
Gas here is $4.30 ish, so in AZ it should be about $4.00. See we in Cali get special blends, thank you EPA. Anyhoo - '08 was a bad year for Havasu - very dependent on boat tourism, and at $4.00 per gallon, with a 300 gallon tank, well you do the math - many stayed home.
I'm hoping for big crowds, but suspect, after four solid years of depression, it's gonna be lonely out on the water.
And that sucks, cause I'm hoping for a lot of river skank spectacle.
How any one in their right mind would want 4 more years like the last 3 1/2 is completely beyond my comprehension. Obama is the worst President I have seen in my lifetime and our economy will not be back on track until he is out of office.
and you base this on what? FOX Noise. Read the results of polls taken over the last 50 years and you'll see that most incumbent candidates with this big of a lead at this point, goes on to win. I'm not saying that Romney's deficit is too large to overcome, but the challenge is immense and the last one term incumbent, GHW Bush (you guys conveniently fail to mention him) had a negative 10% points disapproval rating at the same time. This election may get closer, but my bet is that Mitt will slip in his own poo before too long.
TO: White Collar Auto who wrote:
Now THERE'S a subject that Republicans know ALL about!
Numbers, not so much.
Obama / Biden 2012
and you base this on what? Again, FOX's fair and balanced reporting. Here's some info to chew on. Hiring is up, housing starts are up, and the stock market is up. And don't waste your time with so are gas prices. President doesn't control those. Unless of course, you want to nationalize the industry.
TO: GravityStorm who wrote:
No, we don't, which is why we're voting a straight Democratic ticket in November, to get the Republicans who caused all this khaos outta there!
Now, how long have you been on our planet, because George W. Bush was such a lousy President, Republicans didnt even like him. George W. Bush left Washington with a 25% Approval Rating.
Obama / Biden 2012
Bad news for all you haters:
(Reuters) - Musician and gun-rights advocate Ted Nugent said on Thursday he had a positive meeting with U.S. Secret Service agents investigating his recent criticism of President Barack Obama, and the agency confirmed the issue had been resolved
Time for you all to start spamming the lists of The Nuge's sponsors!!!!!!!!!!!!
That Republican roll of toilet paper? Yes, and how about that Nolan Finley guy. Knows how to fire up the sheep of FOX, Beck and Limbaugh. Too bad he looks like Frasier Craine. The man is a certifiable idiot, once even suggesting that Hillary turn conservative and run against Obama. How's that for faith. But, I do read the News once a week as one of my clients gives away free copies. I get a few chuckles and then line the bottom of my bird's cage.
Why bother. The guy's a has been and the only sponsors he gets are as whacked as he is. He's gotten way too much mileage from this and should be thanking the President for the much needed exposure. I've read some tweets where people didn't know he was still alive.
Ah the Nuge. Hard to have any respect for a guy who'll smear himself with feces to avoid serving his country.
Geez Tony, get caught in the rain today? Quit harshin' my buzz.
Let me guess, you are a Freep guy right? Luvs you some Brian Dickerson and Mitch Albom, I bet.
Do you know who Daniel Howes is? Do you know how respected he is as an Auto analyst?
Here's the link to the story, why don't you see if you can get some one to read it to you:

I've read some tweets
Well Tony, that just about says everything we need to know about you now, doesn't it?
The problem with this article is the problem Obama faces. Contrary to what the article states, this poll is a poll of ALL adults, not likely nor even registered voters. The poll clearly states what data is taken from registered voters and what data is not. This whole poll is NOT of registered voters. Only only some of the previous poll results are. Of course liberals in their celebration completely didn't notice this. That's par for the course because they rarely look deeper into claims than just cursory visceral reaction.
Why is this a problem for Obama??? Because he only shows a 6 point lead for ALL adults, but registered voters tend to be more conservative and likely voters even more conservative than that. A poll of likely voters would most probably show him behind.
........ TO FIESTY.......
To the Obama camp.... I could have came close to supporting Obama for a 2nd term... Will some of you who represent for Obama please address my concerns and tell me if I have something wrong..
Why is it ok that he 1st promised to end the war in Iraq for my vote. His campaign words was " I can take it to the bank".. "IT IS THE FIRST THING I WILL DO FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE"
I voted for him.. He won.. Then he CHANGED from the man of change and told me he would have to do it over 16 months.. I thought he was the boss?
16 Months later 85 thousand troops still dieing and wasted billions to contractors continued in Iraq.
Next, He told me he would clean up the housing mess.. But he has not and maybe does not understand what goes on in our central bank. He could have watched this video to realize that what the fed has done has created an atmosphere that is extremely predatory and millions are now homeless and it was going to be bad.. This video from 2.5 years ago will touch on the truth and help explain what I mean..

Next, is the bailouts for bankers. Enough said.
Next, the way the BLS reports unemployment was changed from U6 to U3 during Clinton's reign for the bankers. I have hated that people think the numbers can be reported from a chart today can be compared to the way they were reported in the past 75 years as the same thing.. Its a terrible thing to have people not care for each other like they had during the last great depression.. If we use the old true formula then we know, its only been getting worse and worse.. Why was that ok to let happen? Or again, did he not know any better. Either way.. That's a sad failure of our leader.
Next, why let Bernanke stay on guard. He has only one education on monetary policy and the bankers love it. Why not look at our historical way of Austrian economics.. They seem to always be ahead of the curve..
Next, Why did he accept money totaling in 10s of millions from every large bank as donations every quarter of his first 2 and a half years to help mold the banking reform bill per the banks own books and statements?
Next, Why did he go along with NATO to attack another nation Libya.. I thought the People told him we were sick of wars for nation building and corporations.
Next, Why will you be forced starting next year, when Obama needs YOU no more, to have to buy a health insurance policy and pay in to that busted system or be forced to have it with held by the IRS or worse you could go to jail if you don't have a job and I have never heard one person bring that part of the health care bill up.. I believe its just another tax.. And that's what the High courts are trying to decide.
Next, I thought he would "END THESE WARS".. That's what he said, but instead the new NDAA bill now includes our own land as a war zone.. That bill, that he rejected till it included the horrible parts he wanted, is disgusting and a direct attack on Liberty. He should be impeached for that act. He took but one oath. Uphold our Constitution.
Next , He resigned the "Patriot act", or in other words "the repeal the 4th amendment act" that our fathers fought for and he promised not to do this.
What has he done that you support?.. And please don't fall for the same old, he's done a good job, or he's done the best he had to work with line.. That just means you really don't know why you support a candidate... Give me a reason.. I have but one big reason myself, but you first if you will...
Ummm... not sure where you have been... but he DID!
As for the rest of your hyperbole - it is just that and will be treated as such.
Oh maybe it's a little thing like saving this country from it's second depression. I would suggest you go and read some history as to what led up to the crash in 1929 - then come back & I'll debate you..
We have had over 30 years of trickle down economics & we see where that got us...
PS: Do YOU seriously think that after 3 1/2 years of TOTAL gridlock in Congress, Ron Paul will magically get something done?
Not going to banter with anyone, But the Quinnepiac, and Rasmussen polls show otherwise. granted they are within the margin of error. But also with likely voters. Not broken down into the demographics as the NBC/WSJ poll.
Ah Feisty - you really ought to turn that computer off, just for a second, and go outside.
Sure, you might not be the very first, super important poster on the next thread, but you'd see that we are in the midst of a continuing depression.
Benn going on for a long time. Many tricks and gimmicks have been tried, all failed.
* million less people working, real estate, GDP, durable good sales all in the toilet. No end in sight.
OR maybe you are onto something - ignorance is bliss, or so I've heard.
I'd never get confident until some flash in the pan like Queen Lipstick couldn't get the time of day from the public, but let's not forget enough of them voted for Party Boy Bush that made it possible to slip him in there twice.
It is discouraging down here in the South, but the trends I have been watching are good: Obama supporters - energized and optimistic; Romneycare supporters - resigned and tepid.
These numbers are GREAT!!! Now we are going to start calling Democrats too!!
Forgot Romney ahead 100-0 among RASWM.
I'm curious as to whom at MSNBC tips Feisty off as to when an article favorable to Obama is going to be hitting the net?
I don't think it's coincidence that she just happens to get the first comment in, on what would be more than a statistically probable number of occasions, whenever an article favorable to Obama appears. Either that, she works for MSNBC herself, or perhaps, has some other method of magically knowing the time an article will appear.
Of course, on the other hand, on the rare occasion that a negative article appears, she's usually far back in the pack, or can't be found at all. No surprise there either.
Care 4,
[Next, is the bailouts for bankers. Enough said.]
That bailout was signed into law by President Bush.
[That bill, that he rejected till it included the horrible parts he wanted]
You mean the part where he signed a "signing statement" that he would not or support those horrible parts? He didn't want it the NDAA but we were at year end and the DoD would be without funds if he vetoed it.
[He resigned the "Patriot act", or in other words "the repeal the 4th amendment act" that our fathers fought for and he promised not to do this.]
Why is it that this Bush era law has not, is not being challenged in the Federal courts?
Ah come on monkeys - collapse 'em all or go home [or in Fiesty's case, keep on keeping on].
You can do it.
Come on, it'll make you feel much better about yourself. :)
Dennis - why is it that your man, Obama, re-upped the Patriot Act.
No forget that - why is it you just don't seem to care Obama re-upped the Patriot Act?
So Dennis, can you say it with me: Holder loves him some Patriot Act.
Hurts, right?
And yet the geniuses in the Republican Party thinks Americans are too stupid to notice how little they care about us. The relentless war on our social safety nets, the indifference to our health, the war on woman's rights, the destruction of the environment apparently are all irrelevant for these brilliant minds. Letting the Americas car companies go out of business, ensuring oil profits soar, and allowing the rich to avoid reasonable taxation are the important objectives. Yeah, we're all morons, and the Republican/Teabaggers know so much more than we do.
Can't wait for the right's solutions: start another war, unleash the HMO dogs, improve the plight of the wealthy, kill off medicare (and the elderly while you're at it), and let the next generation hope that no more SS improves their lives. Yeah, wer'e morons . . . if we vote even one of them back into office.
What in gods name has happened to the republican party??? It seems like many conservatives have issues concerning anger, violence, disrespect and often suffer from unstable behavior. Todays conservatives make Reagan look like a moderate Democrat.
Spanky being a conservative, I thought you favored Bush/Cheney/gop passing the Patriot Act just up until the fact that Obama "re-upped" it?? Could I be wrong?
Obama is always ahead when its the liberal medias poll , we will see in November if people have had enough of his hope and change or will white trash help keep Obama in the white house.
When are people going to wake up to the fact that the middle class is our strength???
Very amusing Feisty... and truly delusional. There is a broad based disgust out there for Obama which the media dutifully tries to overlook. The constant revisionist version of the recent economic numbers is a pathetic attempt at putting lipstick on this pig of an economy. Construction jobs down 10,000 this month alone and over two million since the beginning of the Obama Recession. Takes a weak economy and every action from taxes to energy makes it worse. Gas prices have more than doubled since he was sworn into office and climbing...just like the deficit. Food prices up 15-25%. Unemployment stuck at above 8% when that $860 billion "stimulus" bill was rammed through congress in 2009 that was to have kept it from going above 8% - and went to failed big green energy companies, the latest of which just laid off 2,000 (First Solar Inc.). And then there are those "shovel ready jobs" that just "weren't so shovel ready" as Obama laughed about.
Obama lies about how oil production is increasing but doesn't bother to tell you that it's only increasing on private land where he couldn't stop it. The only reason unemployment is dropping slightly is because millions are giving up - they stop looking for jobs. And once they give up they aren't counted in the calculation any more. If they were the real unemployment rate is 9.6% plus.
Obamacare (which can't financially support itself under the original projections will actually cost more than twice as much as he claimed - $1.7 trillion vs. $800 billion). And the only way to pull it off was to steal $500 billion from future Medicare benefits and count it twice. Once in Medicare and again in Obamacare. Not one Republican supported it in the House and enough Democrats voted against it that it only passed by 7 votes. The Senate? They controlled 60 votes and couldn't even get all of those. Had to resort to backdoor reconciliation to jam it through, or as Nanny Pelosi said, "pass it to find out what's in it." And we are now past year three in Harry Reid's Senate rejecting a budget proposal by the GOP.
But ultimately, thanks to SCOTUS that Obama lowbrowed, is going to be relegated to the trash bin along with other unconstitutional laws of the 20th century. (The first in century 21.) Many worker health insurance premiums have already gone up (mine up 11%) JUST because of the legislation threat alone. Obama makes Carter look like a good President by comparison. In fact he really looks incompetent because he lies virtually every day- and the lies are so easily verifiable as untrue. He lied right in front of SCOTUS on the floor of Congress about a previous SCOTUS decision. But you Obama voters just keep telling yourself things are all right. They're just fine. See you in November - we can't wait.
Haven't we all learned by now that polls are meaningless? I seriously doubt it's even that close.
Obama is making plans after his next election, Romney is already looking for a VP. They are all counting their chickens before they hatch. Your all gonna be tripping over your jaws when RON PAUL gets the nod. I can't wait to see that. He is the only honest candidate in the race and NO it's not over till the election. I wonder if this poll was taken by the same people who had RON PAUL winning those polls. The MSM is not picking our next president. The people of the US are. WE THE PEOPLE will decide, unless the vote is rigged, which i can bet will happen. Vote out all incumbants and take our country back.
RON PAUL 2012
it is essentially dead even.
even after oblameO spent 3-1/2 years giving away the farm.
40-50% of the population is on the obama dole getting anything that they can for free.
if he can't start with better numbers he's in trouble.
obama is in trouble and he knows it.
Neither Obama nor Romney will get us out of the doldrums within the next 4 years. Obama is trying the FDR method of spending that raises the standard of living for the middle class (although it took more than a decade to recover from the unregulated economic boom that heralded the Depression). Romney will use the unregulated economic boom method that raises the standard of living for the upper class even higher and gives rise to the next depression/recession once that standard begins to "trickle down" to the middle class. The lower class merely survives no matter what government does (and provides cannon fodder as needed).
Congress is useless- they pass just enough legislation to maintain their acquired standard of living. Too bad they don't have to live by the same laws they pass for everyone else. If they don't pass a budget, they still get paid. If they spend all their time blathering, they still get paid. And because they are so busy blathering, they have to hire large staffs to prove to their constituents how busy they are.
The Supreme Court is more like a kangaroo court. Justice is not blind, but it is deaf and dumb. They "see" an opportunity to support whatever their political philosophy is, are too dumb to remember that their role is to interpret the laws according to the constitution as it is intended, not to rewrite the constitution or use 17th century language to decide 21st century issues. And they are deaf to anyone who points that out.
Dems - vote early and often. As usual.
Mike - usually you are spot on. But, this poll is Registered Voters not all americans. What is missing is the Democrat/Republican/Independent mix. Regardless, Registered voters assuming the mix is correct, simply is POTENTIAL. What counts is Likely voters, which is reflective of what is going to happen unless the democrats can frighten enough minorities, senior citizens, and welfare recipients into voting for them, with transportation provided by the unions.
WSJ dude... or are you saying they turned liberal now?
Political Polls are a Joke. They are adjusted to reflect the Media source they come from to support their own agenda. The people that partake in these polls represent a very, very, very small portion that will head to the polls in November.
What is the point of these polls? Isn't it a little early for polls?
And another thing: expect more of these media cherry picking poll propaganda pieces to come out in the coming months. The DNC main stream liberal media doesn't have any real dirt on Romney, and there will be no October surprise. We still don't know a thing about Obama's college records and that's not going to change with the Obamamedia. Expect more propaganda hit pieces like this that will attempt to dishearten anti-Obama voters and attempt to make them feel their vote won't make a difference. Also expect the DNC media to cast Romney as an out of touch 1950s old rich greedy white guy (while Obama hosts lavish private $25k fundraiser dinners blocked from media access, and flies around on lavish vacations and his wife and children flying in a separate entourage). The fact that this guy can even possibly take a second term in his first nearly four years of epic failure as a president speaks volumes at the idiocy of Americans and the danger of the DNC main stream propaganda media telling them what to think.
I wonder if the same DEAD people that voted for Obama are also taking these Polls.
Considering what a circus the GOP/TP primary has been, and how lack-luster Romney is as a nominee (if/when/probably), it's hard to understand why the election is being touted as a close one like 2000 was. Really?
Heck, if Dubya could get a second term in 2004 with 9-11 on his watch, the unnecessary Iraq mess, skyrocketing deficit spending, poor management of Katrina, etc., whereas President Obama has done a really good job trying lift this nation out of the Great Recession and finishing the job Dubya failed to do like getting bin Laden, why wouldn't President Obama get a second term? And Romney isn't really running onanything other than being a businessman (or worse, negative ads attacking opponents), and Teapublicans aren't so much planning to vote for Romney as they just want to vote against President Obama (or any Democrat). Seriously?
Just take the cookie fiasco, and Romney insulting his own constituents for not providing home-baked cookies up to his standards, and insulting the local area and bakery along with them. But the list of turn-offs is so long, how can such a crappy candidate give anyone a close race? And based on what?
But the REALLY disheartening thing to hear is about congress and predictions that the Senate in particular will likely be a close split as well. For the sake of this country, will voters reelect Teapublicans in congress giving us another four years of gridlock? What have these obstructionist Teapbulicans done to earn reelection? They've attacked every segment of society from Hispanics, to organized labor, to Medicare, to women with autocratic A.L.E.C. tactics to pass the most backward and unwanted legislation in history--and not one job can they say they created. This is what voters want? Really, seriously?!!!
And if people think rulings from the SCOTUS like Citizen's United suck, get your heads out of your arse and think again, because one of Romney's legal advisers is Robert Bork. The court already leans to the Right, and appointments are for LIFE. Read up on Bork and imagine what a Romney presidency would mean.
Reelecting President Obama, even if one faults him for what ever s/hefaults him for, should be a no-brainer. Progressives, renew the energy of Occupy, move to Florida temporarily, do what ever you have to do, but get to the polls and take as many friends and family with you as possible. A plutocrat Romney presidency would be more disastrous than you could ever fathom. And President Obama needs a congress that will work together and work with him if we are to have hope for a faster recovery.
Obama/Biden - 2012!
Boy, isn't that the truth? Short memories -- it wasn't THAT long ago that Dumbya Bush and the GOP tanked this economy together. Since it takes longer to rebuild than to destroy, and it took Dumbya and the GOP the better part of a decade to ruin this nation -- I wonder why so many righties are p-o'ed at Obama for not fixing the Bush Calamity in half the time it took Bush to create it?
Stupid is as stupid does -- it's no wonder they want Mittens to do it all over again... No matter what the cost is to our economy, what's REALLY important to these right-wing whackos is their religious nuttery and crazy social agendas -- make sure we smack down gays and women, get organized prayer back into the school, and outlaw abortion! Who cares how many families end up getting their homes foreclosed!! What's REALLY important is the rights of a zygote or an embryo -- and making sure those two gay guys who live together down the street don't get married so the whole "fabric of the nation" doesn't unravel.
The right-wing religious nuttery and whack-jobbery in this country will never end...
Don't talk about your parents that way...
DMorgan -- That quote from Roadkill is the main problem -- low-information voters like that and 10tacle. Do us all a favor and go back into the woodwork, or under a rock, or where ever you came from. My posts aren't usually this harsh, but the comment about President Obama'scollege records alone compels me to do so. Get off the conspiracy theories and damn nontroversies or don't vote. Voting is a responsibility, not just a privilege.
Whatever. mainstream christians in this country have referred to Mormons as whacky cultists all my life. And still do. Mormons typically rate about equal to gays and lesbians with the Right Wing, sometimes even less than that, for fouling up the "real" jesus story...
But WHOA! Suddenly one is on the GOP ticket, so it's ok now for a while. Not a whacky cultist anymore. We gotta support him no matter what! Get that damm black democrat outta the White House!
Wow. How quickly the right flips on virtually anything just to see their nuttery preserved.
Stay Tuned for ----- Dumbya II: His name is Mittens!
TruePatriot,
What did he have for the first two years in office? Democratic Control. Stupid!!!
But you keep forgetting - it was Dumbya Bush and the GOP who gave us this DISASTER of an economy. If you'd stop licking Dumbya's butt long enough to take a deep breath, you'd remember that!
If Richie Rich wins, this may be truly history's most remarkable example of the hens not only unlocking the henhouse door for the fox, but setting him up at a table, handing him his silverware, and cutting their own throats in order to save him the trouble.
But at least we will know for once and for all which country is the Dumbest Ever. So long, middle class! Welcome to Plantation America and say hi to your new bankmeisters!
DMorgan,
Whats the "D" stand for? DUMBA**
Fred...oh Fred....that would be Mr. President to you....and btw....dogs and grasshoppers? Really? Sheesh....can you come up with something just a little more interestings than that? Yawn...
4% voting for a white guy vs 90%+ for Obama hummm surprised Fiesty isn't up in arms for some fairness.
Oh wait, my bad if only 4% of whites voted for Obama it would be called "rascist" oh wait the left already claim that.
ObamaCare is hurting prices and will be the downfall of health insurance if allowed to go unchecked.
787 Billion in stimulas + 5 trillion in debt and the largest jump in the US budget 500 billion and we are still at 8.3% unemployment over 3 years 1 month from the bottom.
Obama is a 50% president for every good thing he does,, he follows it up with a failure. We need a 90%+ president .
Dumbya Bush did EXACTLY the same thing -- and his dinners in Texas at his high point were $110K per plate. How is it that you keep forgetting these facts?
and flies around on lavish vacations and his wife and children flying in a separate entourage
Let's see. He's taken HALF the number of vactions that Dumbya took in his first term. AND, the Secret Service always dictates how he and his family travel. Just like they did with Dumbya and every other president. You realize that, don't you?
Remember, too -- the minute Dumbya was appointed in 2001, he found every way possible to stay away from the White House. Remember how he moved the WH operation to Crawford and called it the Western White House? They even had a special Western White House sign made for his televised appearances from there, while he mumbled and stumbled into the microphone like a moron. No other president in history found more excuses to stay away from the office than Dumbya Bush.
You right-wingers are a goddam disgrace.
I wish you would have used this Successful Businessman critieria when you were considering Dumbya Bush. He bankrupted almsot every turnkey business his daddy gave him to run. Yet, the right-wing doesn't care about that -- he was the biggest failed businessman in Texas -- and you guys found him and ran him for office! -- and then he destroyed our economy. Who didn't see THAT coming! What's important to the Right Wing is their whack-a-doo social agendas...very little else.
Get ready for four more!
Barry can't run on his merits......he doesn't have any!
Its going to be close.......DOJ better keep the black panthers in line this time or there WILL be riots!
DB Akron, I see where the problem is. In the first part of the poll they are reporting responses from ALL adults. This is shown by the absence of the indicative '+' character next to the results. Later in the poll they do report the results from registered voters. They then go back to reporting the responses of all adults. What they don't do though -- or I haven't seen -- is report how many respondents are in the registered grouping. It could have been 750 or it could have been 75. The margin of error for the 1000 adults polled is a little over 3%. Without knowing how many of those 1000 were registered, we can't know how valid the registered voter part of the poll is or not.
DB Akron " What is missing is the Democrat/Republican/Independent mix. Regardless, Registered voters assuming the mix is correct, simply is POTENTIAL."
Very true - NBC probably uses the old 'mix' from the 2008 elections, which was 39% Democrat and 32% Republican. According to the latest Rasmussen polling, the current mix should be 36% Republican and 32% Democrat.
If their polling is not up to date on the 'mix', there could be an 11% false error in favor of Democrats, which would explain the difference between Gallup/Rasmussen, who have Romney up by about 4% instead of Obama up by about 6% by NBC. Rasmussen had the 2008 election pegged almost perfectly - much better than the other pollsters. Also, Rasmussen and Gallup use 'likely voters' instead of 'registered voters', and Republicans tend to vote in higher percentages than Democrats.
These are the games played by biased pollsters.
Let's see ..... Obamacare, GSA scandal, Secret Service scandal, 23 other Federal department investigations, Fast & Furious, Higher taxes, Solyndra, High unemployment, No Federal Budget, Under-the-table deals, Suing states for enforcing Federal laws, SCOTUS, Gas prices more than doubled, More regulations, No voter ID (?) endorsed, Shovel Ready Jobs that never materialized at the cost of billions of dollars, Black Panther voter intimidation, No Keystone pipeline, Massive deficit spending with NO RESULTS, Over 5 trillion added to the national debt, No plan for anything except the "Buffet Rule", Speech after speech with no follow-through, and on & on & on.
Is this the direction our country should be heading? Aren’t we a better country than that?
justoneguy: The liberal response to all of that would be: "Oh, details, details. It's George Bush's fault."
Yeah, yeah, yeah McCain was nip and tuck against Obama 4 years ago until the actual election took place and McCain got his azz kicked up to his eyeballs.
spanky --- put your monkey away and go to bed.
psst.....all this arguing? Both of these puppet clowns are owned by Goldman Sachs. They win and you all lose nomatter which of these twins are in the white house. But hey, keep being good little boys and girls doing your part to keep up the illusion!
Roadkill - you are hardly the one to be calling anyone stupid. The President had a filibuster proof majority for only 7 months - from 7/7/2010 to 2/4/2011. And, during that time, Ted Kennedy was ill plus there was congressional recess. But, nice try. That misleading statement is made over and over again by people who clearly know better.
President Obama will pull away as Romney get better known and his arrogance shows more and more. His stupidity will catch up with him as more and more people get to meet him. His arrogance is beyond annoying and he can't relate to everyday people.
I do not put much credence in the credibility of these polls. Who, exactly, is being "polled" anyway? I know I have not been. Some random sampling is asked their opinion, numbers are crunched, and voila! It is reported on tirelessly, the media leading the drumbeat against which ever candidate is unfortunate enough to be on the losing end.
Each poll seems to have conflicting results from the previous ones. The one-minute-you're-in-and-the-next-you're-out quality of polling is akin to finding out sunscreen causes cancer, only for it to be revealed later on that maybe, in fact, it does not.
So, tell us Ms. Klum? Does voting for Mr. Obama cause cancer yet? Let's do away with the Project-Runway, American-Medical-Association style of polling and just wait for the real poll - the November elections.
Joey Luft - "does voting for President Obama cause cancer yet?" No but voting for Romney is a clear indication that your brain has atrophied!
Obama/Biden 2012
SeekingSanity - I agree. My comment was meant to be pro-Obama. It is satire, using sarcasm aimed at the entire polling process, with frustration thrown in for good measure, and the fact that President Obama is ahead now, but next week he may be down, which indicates somehow that his time in office is in jeopardy - or so the pundits will say.
Polling in this manner, and the reporting thereof, is a vice in our society that should be improved. It causes vile, partisan politics, which are disillusioning the majority of voters right now.
THAT DOES IT!! After reading all the comments on here about Bush, the liberals have convinced me.
Come November, I am NOT voting for George Bush. And that's FINAL!!
Hey, ya gotta draw a line in the sand someplace ya know.
Joey - sorry - sometimes hard to read the sarcasm!
Enjoy your little bit while you got it, Mitt. It ain't gonna last long.
So Bali - how's that right track/wrong track looking?
Forget that, how about those unemployment numbers and the 'revision' for las week's?
Oh, but hey, dude did get Osama, so there is that.
There are more stupid people in America than I thought. Anyone who would vote for Obama
is either stupid, ignorant or simply crazy.
@Average American,
""Resorting to name calling is the surest sign that you've lost the argument". You lost it four words into your post.
@Spanky,
Ref my post below. Why do you hate America?
He/She is just like Romney 'clueless'
Yeah Bali bob - maybe all those 65% plus who think we are on the wrong track hate america.
Or maybe all those unemployed folks hate america.
Sure -that's it. Or maybe they just like their dogs. Cause Obama is kicking ass.
Calm blue ocean, guys.
Given the margin of error, this poll shows what all the other polls show- the race is tied. Beyond that, there are two pretty interesting takes from this poll-
First, way down deep, they poll some of the talking points. Leaving aside that majorities support, equally, diametrically opposed statements, the ONE statement that has more negative than positive responses? Obama's class warfare tack.
As to the horse race numbers, I was struck by one weird coincidence- the numbers of those who prefer a Democratic majority over a Republican majority is exactly that of October, 2010. Democrats ahead by two points- Reoublicans won by 8.
You'd think they reweight for that level of error.
Well I'd be much more concerned of being thought of as stupid by someone intelligent than by someone who by their own admission is only Average.
So Rick - you are a 1%-er?
You rock that avatar cause you have an actual Rolls Royce? Phantom or Ghost, my man?
Keep it real, Rick.
I sure hope there are enough of us to see through the Mitt Romney fake personna.
Hey, Spanky- I've got a great link for you
http://dailycaller.com/2012/04/19/when-did-president-barack-obama-stop-eating-dogs/
By the way- did you finish Dance With Dragons? And, have you found the Wiki of the Song of Ice and Fire? Does not look like the Winds Of Winter will be out before next year- but there's a lot of information there that Martin contributes- ties together a lot of the stories, fills in background, and answers a lot of the questions that get left unanswered due to editing.
I found it on a link on his site- its not unauthorized. If you're interested, it's pretty cool.
Hey No Jo - I did, it was fantastic. I'm all in on Game on HBO.
I will check out the link.
I still think/hope for a Danny/Jon Snow ending.
I read the Theron chapter from Winds of Winter on Martin's website a couple of months ago. Good stuff.
I'm with you. I've thought from the first series,(watched it before starting the books), that Ned's constant memory of his sister begging him to "promise me, Ned", meant there was something wrong with Jon's story. My theory- and it's mine, not anything I've heard or read- is that Jon is actually the child of Ned's sister and Raegar.. I believe that will make HIM, not Stannis, the Prince that was Promised.
Look out, Others.
liberals stick so close because the millions of you have to share one brain ,always spinning everything to make mr O look like he knows waht hes doing ,I might wear glasses but I can see through his crap , its a shame so many of you have S.F.B. aka shi.. for brains.
e.
How could anyone vote for a man who continues to bankrupt our nation. Every year he has been president we go another trillion in the hole. Also, he shows no compassion by voting against the "Baby Born Alive Act" 3 times as Illinois state senator. The press still has never asked him to explain himself on this vote...either they don't care or they are covering for him.
Before you go spouting off about intelligence or lack thereof...Wayne...you may want to try spell check yourself. SMH

LOL...did anyone actually look at the poll specifics? It says there's a margin of error of 3 points, but that's with 1000 interviews...they only did 100. The margin of error on that will make this poll virtually worthless. Add to that the fact that the vast majority of the respondents identified themselves as democrats and the fact that Obama only leads by six points would lead intelligent people to suspect that Obama is in a lot more trouble than the media would like to show.
-10....run on sentence.
President Obama won't get a second term for one reason. He admitted that if the economy wasn't sufficiently improved "it will be a one term proposition."
I can't argue with him.
Just another PMSNBC poll trying to convince the gullible that obumbo is doing okay. He is in big trouble and they know it, just won't admit it. obumbo is such a failure that Romney is practically a shoe in.
the post by average american is spot on....who in their right mind would vote for this ass obama?.....either naive, stupid, crazy or a combination of all......or maybe people who depend on government to run their pathetic little lives........
let's face it as long as were paying taxes then government is running all of our lives . even you mcpaddywack. take a good look around the economy is coming around the stock market higher than its been in years unemployment is down. george busch couldn't say that and mitt romney couldn't do that because he only cares about himself and putting money in his own pocket and not the working mans. lets face it romney is a dirtbag.
I am not a Romney supporter. I more believe in the Ron Paul philosophy. What I think is funny is MSNBC touting this particular poll when Rasmussen has had Romney ahead for two weeks now.
I don't know why everyone takes these polls so seriously. First of all, they are rarely right, and second of all the election is 7 months away! We'll just see how it all shakes out.
I guess we are all just dying to have American taken away from the people and given to the rich. No food for the poor, no education for our children, no medicare, no more assistance for the poor what-so-ever all so the republicans can give more tax cuts to Romney and his rich friends.
Vote for a republican if you want to lose you rights to freedom of choice. Republicans want to pretend we are Iran with the church in charge of women's reproductive rights, even to contraception.
All the republican presidential nominees including Ron Paul signed the person-hood pledge. You know the pledge to take rights away from women and only women in the name of freedom.
I realize the republicans are angry that the economy is getting better so they have to lie and claim how bad President Obama has been. I was born in the south and my dearly departed father was a total bastard racist and he would be of the anyone but Obama crowd due to no reason but his hate due to profiling alone. Yep, a republican through and through.
My father hated that I hung out with 3 black brothers who went to our Junior College. But one night at a football party, I like a dumb kid got drunk and passed out in a back bedroom and the black guys came to the window and dragged me out and made me get sober when they heard the white football team was going to gang rape me.
From then on they were my true friends and I didn't drink so much or hang out with the football team other than them anymore. Tormenting my hateful father was so much fun when he demanded to know which one I was sleeping with, and I told him all of them even though we were just friends.
All those people who hate Romney, but hate President Obama even more just for the .02% of genetic material that determines the color of your skin. I know your kind and feel sorry for you.
VOTE FOR WOMEN'S FREEDOM..VOTE A SEA OF BLUE CONGRESS..VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Actually, Mcpaddy...that's pretty much what a lot of us believe about Republicans and their candidates, so I guess it goes both ways doesn't it.
@Squire: Nutty as a shipload of "Pistachios".
Other polls have Obama as low as 15% but if the NBC/WSJ affiliate want to feed the delusion then that's fine and dandy. I actually feel embarrassed for them.
Let's see ..... Obamacare, GSA scandal, Secret Service scandal, 23 other Federal department investigations, Fast & Furious, Higher taxes, High unemployment, No Federal Budget, Under-the-table deals, Suing states for enforcing Federal laws, SCOTUS, Gas prices more than doubled, More regulations, No voter ID (?) endorsed, Shovel Ready Jobs that never materialized at the cost of billions of dollars, Black Panther voter intimidation, No Keystone pipeline, Massive deficit spending with NO RESULTS, Over 5 trillion added to the national debt, No plan for anything except the "Buffet Rule", Speech after speech with no follow-through, and on & on & on.

justoneguy
Let see, Obamacare is Republican care, it is your republican bill you guys gave to Clinton in 90's, what got amnesia? GSA scandal? what about FEMA scandal with Katrina handling? Higher Taxes? show me link of gov website that shows proof. Bush cuts still intact. High unemployment due to Collapse of 2008 and since 2009 we created 3000000 jobs, slow but steady recovery. Suing states? they overstepped the boundary, have you read constitution? I guess you forgetting Sept 2008 when gas prices were like todays. short memory huh. There is no black panther intimidation, show me link of proof, need gov reference. Deficit Spending? you lived under rock or something. where where you when Bush ramp up deficit with two unpaid wars and prescription plan ?
What Romney going to do better? Look how he ran as governor of Massachusetts, 47 of 50 states high unemployment hmmm, and he has business experience. Look how great Rick Scot running Florida, even own republicans can't stand him now, year that business experience, oh wait the only president I remember was Hoover, lol.

Mr. Big $PENDER OBAMA - Epic Fail
john-737278 -- Some polls have a better track record of predictability such as Quinnipiac, but it's best to average the results, or better yet look at betting odds in Vegas. BTW, "I more believe in the Ron Paul philosophy." That's great grammar dude.
At this snapshot in time, we are seeing initial coalescing due to presumption of Romney as the nominee. As voters start paying more attention and seeing video like the cookie snobbery, we'll see where that goes. But he cannot win with 14% support from Hispanics, and I find it hard to believe he can increase that to even the 31% or so that McCain got.
Truthor Consequensces -- Ted Nugent, is that you? Wow, that was really deep (not).
If bull@!$%# could be converted to power and brains, the Republican party would have a real nominee. I've never read so much bull@!$%# coming from the Right-wing trolls as I have tonight here on Newsvine. You guys are unbelievable; as in not to be believed, as in never ever. President Obama has not yet begun to campaign. I can't wait to relive all those precious moments that Mitt and the other Republican nominees gave us over the past year or so. I made a bold prediction a number of months back, of how much Republicans were going to regret all those debates; all that video fodder, and now it's time to get all Madison Avenue on your punk asses.
Meanwhile out West... you might think it's not so important to have Hollywood aligned with your party. But when you have a party of ass clowns who fall all over themselves and throw pies in their own faces, and then you get them on video, making foolish claim after ridiculous comment after outrageous accusation after outright idiotic lie. In the end it will be your party's own words that brings you all crashing back to solid ground.
And while you're at it why not just piss off both the Hispanic community - and women!?! Your party's recent moves remind me of one of those stories about somebody who puts a gun up to their head and says "don't worry, it's not loaded" and then blows their brains out. I, for one, am not in favor of voting for a party content on governing neither from the Right nor from the Left... but either from jail or from the grave. What a great group of representatives you present to America; and what a proud representation they are of you.
Not republicans on the vine whining because no one wants to pay their way and wanting to steal from everyone else to pay for their freebies.
Rick, and if obamas' rhetoric could be turned into gas our pump prices would be less than $2/gallon for premium and diesel.
Obama floats from issue to issue proclaiming pass my ideas right away, they are good! He can't even get congressional democrats to support HIS agenda. When I was a kid growing up in the 60's, there was a boxer named mohammid ali (aka cassius clay) who proclaimed that he could float like a butterfly but sting like a bee!
When I see obama float from issue to issue bleating "pass this right away" or "this is the fair way" I think of ali and his ability to deliver vs obama's inability to deliver. It is still interesting to note that past presidents have always found a way to work with contentious congresses, but obama still can't. His honeymoon with congress ended with obamacare..
6 points is kicking @ss?
Ask yourself, are you better off now than when Obama took office.
If so vote for him, if not Romney.
Platitudes and rhetoric don't count for didley squat.
Why would anyone trust this man to fix the economy? He clearly states that he wants to keep the Bush tax cuts in place which are not and have never been paid for and in fact wants to give the wealthy more money. Who's paying for that people? Right!!! Us middle class tax payers will bear the brunt.
If Romney is such a great American, why does he keep his money off shore? He is a fake and can't wait to get in office to completely finish the job of destroying what's left of the middle class to ensure we have no power, money or anything else left and insure the wealthy have complete control of the masses. What they want is slave labor. Romney cannot hide his real feelings that he and his privileged family is better than the lowly middle class in this country. This man is dangerous and I do not see where he is any great business man anyway. He started out wealthy and he and his family have not one iota what it is like to struggle financially. This man is a fake and nothing more than a tool for people like the Koch Bros.
Yeah, yeah, yeah McCain was nip and tuck with Obama 4 years ago until the actual election took place and he got his azz kicked up to his eyeballs.
BTW.........Romney was an early exit 4 years ago against McCain.
Funny, MSNBC just loves spouting off its lies. The truth is, Romney is nowhere near the delegate count he needs for the GOP nod yet, he's getting close to about half now, but with Santorum dropping out, and Gingrich's campaign effectively going broke, the conservative delegates are now flocking to Ron Paul. On top of that, Ron Paul is the only candidate to consistently beat Obama in the polls.
Nobody but Ron Paul '12 !!!
Mitt Romney's economic plan:
1. Let Detroit fail.
2. Foreclose on middle class homeowners, so that rich investors can swoop in and pick their bones clean.
3. Lay off more American workers.
4. Close American factories and encourage American workers to 'self-deport'.
5. Outsource jobs to China.
6. Eliminate taxes on the rich, triple the national debt, and bankrupt the federal government.
How can the Republicans be winning on the economy when they trash it every time they get into office. The Right wing economy policy is a failure, always has been always will be.
Yep...that's the Rmoney plan exactly. The hatred, ignorance and racism on the right could very well put another idiot in the White House.
Rmoney talks about opportunities for all when his policies seem to be aimed at more opportunities for the wealthy. Rmoney talks about supporting small businesses...the ones Bain Capital loves to raid, gut and sell off for profit?
Rmoney is a wooden statue who is so out of touch with the middle class/working class and the plight of the poor. His election will be the death knell for America.
Obama has done more for the country, the middle class/working class in one term then Bush 41 & 43 did in 16 years. Yet the idiots on the right will flock to the election booths to vote for a rich white guy who doesn't give a damn about them or their families. BRILLIANT!
Average American - anyone would would vote for Mitt Romney is stupid; has no ability to think; and just frankly doesn't give a damn about the country. But, of course, he's the man for the far right who have no concept of anything. He doesn't have any plans or purposes. In fact he doesn't have a clue.
USA1967 - you prove my point completely. Your lack of intelligence is shown when you stoop to calling our President silly names. But, I expect nothing more from the mental midgets on the right.
Those who want the country to continue improving and getting out of the mess we've been in will vote Obama in November. He actually cares about the entire country and all of the citizens.
Obama/Biden 2012
See? Just more buuuuullllllsssshhhiiiitttt.
This is shaping up to be a fairly close race. Mitten's choice of veep could very well be the deciding factor.
Not so sure, I'm more concerned about the influence of the Koch Brothers Super-Pac's & voter suppression...
It's been proven if they can't beat him, they'll cheat him!
I tend to agree with you Feisty, but a choice like Condie Rice might be the undoing. That said, her stance on roe v wade might turn off alot of conservatives.
Who's the Dumb Fux now Miss F?? Looking more like you every day.
I don't think they will go rogue this year after the Palin debacle in 2008 - they will stick with white bread... imho
Well, you sure TOLD me! lol
What are you 10?
I think RTypo is right. I'm personally waiting to see who Mitt chooses as a VP. He has a big poll of qualified candidates to pick from. Somehow I don't believe it's going to be someone with close connections to the Bush Administration as theres' so much blame being placed on him. Remember according to all the Obama supporters everything bad that has ever happened in the Obama Ad is Bushes fault. If that's the logic shouldn't Bush be getting credit for all the so called accomplishments of the Obama Administration? Just asking as this site is real partisian. I personally think it's to early to declare a winner and all the name calling serves no purpose
That was a pretty racist comment Feisty. Too bad that someone that is from the supposedly "tolerant", "open" people of the nation feels the need to spread racist filth.
How "progressive" of you.
Thanks sweet cheeks!
Naw, he's a reb and "shore as shootin', the south is gonna rise agin", yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaw!
Ah, thanks for allowing us Canadians into this place. Had to cancel MSNBC on my satellite package due to the strong bias held by Maddow and Sgt. Schultz (yes, he knows nothing!). Just want to thank you Americans for electing Obama because whein January 2009 your dollar was worth $1.22 Canadian. Today it is equal. Reelect him and you'll be giving us 50 cents on the dollar. No mention of the poll where likely voters felt Romney could do a better job handling the economy 47-43%? No talk of more likely voters feeling Romney could better handle the budget deficit than Obama 51-38%. Face it, had Obama been smart, his first term would have been focused on straightening out the economy. Had he done that, in his second term, he could have done whatever he wanted with social programs like healthcare because he would have been heralded as a hero instead of being thought of as nothing but inept and sponsored by special-interest groups. Still, not one American that I can think of has ever mentioned how their life is better than it was when Obama took office. Not a single American....
Yeah, Feisty is onto something.
Obama is tied with Mitt cause of the Kochs. No wait, cause of Fox. Or is it Walker or Alec?
Oh well, at least Obama has a solid 3 and 1/2 years of kicking ass, right?
Stimulus, ACA, Solyndra, and Fast and Furious.
Ah, never mind.
Really should just change your slogan to DUMB KUNT. Since there is no code of conduct here.......
DUMB SLUT, DUMB KOCK, DUMB ARSE it's all you baby.
Never quite know how you always manage to post first. What do you work for MSNBC- or just don't have a job???
....a lonely, bitter, old woman who's husband left her years ago and who's color of her hair comes out of a bottle, and not the one she continuously is drinking from...
...really sad when you think about it...
I'm sorry - did you have a point? Thought not - now go back and beat your dog!
*Cue ominous music*
Yeah - I got a job and thanks for asking! ☺
Same for you little buddy - interpretation - I wish I knew a strong women like you!
Can't tell you all how much I am enjoying your little green monsters! lmao!
Do either of think for a moment you can dominate me? Dream on little fella's & lots of luck with that!
I wipe fools like you two off my Jimmy Choo's...
Sounds like you hurt your head when you fell off the horse.
A.B.O. I cant stand four more years of Hope and Change.
Just humor her, guys.
Usually by this time she's either passed out in front of the keyboard from boozing all day,
or in her Oldsmobile Delta 88 4-door, giving directions to her 9 yo grand daughter (who's behind the wheel driving since granny's "blotto") to the nearest liquor store for restock.
So you "gentlemen" think it is ok to call a woman filthy names like that just because you do not agree with her political point of view? Wow...that is absolutely amazing. And you have the audacity to wonder why comments are collapsed?
...your wives, mothers and daughters must be so proud.
It's just like Biden's next gaffe. You can't stop it so don't worry about it.
Did you folks see fiesty in the "Walmart People" video?? She had the pink leotards and fake hair and a sign that said vote for obumbo. He made me what I am!!!!!
Angry White Men?
Marco Rubio is the best VP choice for Mitt, Republicans actually had a decent shot at getting a majority of Latinos to vote for them under bush in 2006 but recently they have been shooting themselves in the foot with the fastest growing minority group in the country. Mitt can always soften his rhetoric on immigration but selecting a Hispanic VP would help a lot more and might just be enough to win him the election. I stress the might though because it is bound to be close race.
SweetAZ: If you ever read Feisty's comments from before, you'll know that it is not like she has the mouth of a lady!
For us and Obama is nothing to worry, the economy is picking up at a very slow pace as we all know, and that is good news after the 8 disaster years of the former administration, which brought our economy on it's knees, things will get better in the future but it can't come overnight, for right now we are going in the right direction and Obama will fight for the commen men and women. Make the right choice when you go and bring out your vote.
here, Harry..a little bit of history..

Mitt is not tied. His own party doesn't accept him wholeheartedly. Let's be honest. He is an empty suit that hasn't been in the private sector for ten years. His father may have earned everything on his own, but Willard WAS born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His business experience consists of busting up companies, laying off people and pocketing their money. His current career is running for President, and at that, he has the most experience of anyone in the race.
Feisty - clearly the little boys are out today and are saying all the new big words they've learned. But, that's all they've got going for them. My guess is they're all about 100 lbs overweight and bald! (Nothing against bald men - some are very sexy!) And, their front teeth are all missing. But hey, they need to do something for their kicks each day. As we all know, these are the Romney supporters! The best they got!
Enjoy the rest of the day Feisty!
Why on earth a loving son would bring his own mother into the debate is beyond me.
Feisty:
"Sure you did junior... sure you did! *winky winky*"
Interesting; I would venture that most of us who post on these articles are who we say we are, and mean what we say when we post. But I imagine someone (like you) whose entire life is wrapped up their pretend on-line character would suspect the rest of us to be as perjurious as you.
"Go stalk someone else rookie, you're not ready for the major league!"
And there it is!! The self absorbed, self appointed queen of the absurdly inconsequential has given us a first-hand glimpse into what she sees when she looks in her on-line mirror. Pathetic, but still funny enough for me to check in on you and your lemmings for a good laugh once in a while.
Hint Hint, "*winky winky*" (another Myspace reference I suppose) Your mirror is broken!
That was actually yesterday in Feistyland, interesting to see that she has'nt changed (accept maybe the pretty obviously been drinking part), and one of her little lemmings seeking insanity tagged along today:
"Same for you little buddy - interpretation - I wish I knew a strong women like you!
Can't tell you all how much I am enjoying your little green monsters! lmao!
Do either of think for a moment you can dominate me? Dream on little fella's & lots of luck with that!
I wipe fools like you two off my Jimmy Choo's..."
Gadz its loads of fun when they all get together; comedy at its best. Enjoy the show y'all!!
The buffoons wrecked the economy.
Since then they have done everything they can to obstruct any and all attempts to fix it.
All for their BIG BUSINESS masters.
Not one single American or American job is safe until every last right-wing buffon is removed from office, elected and appointed.

These are the people who own and operate the republican party and other right-wing political organizations, for fun and huge profits at the expense of the American people, the US government and our society as a whole. They have sold us all for 30 pieces of silver plate. Or haven't you noticed the third-world condition of the US kangaroo kourt system?
You haven't lived in a democracy or a republic since early 1981 when Reagan and the neocons began selling the American people down the river, when control of our once free and independent broadcast media was handed over to the people we were warned about controlling the media - corporations. Laws died, were ignored or re-interpreted to appease Reagan cronies. Now you owe your soul to the company store.
To get some education about the big business, right-wing controlled media, the disinformation disseminated by the propagandists masquerading as journalists and the total lack of honesty, morals or ethics in the right-wing politicos check out:

@Political Prisoner,
Republicans are actually rooting for a bad economy in the hope that it will help them "win". Traitors, the lot of them.
Bali Bob, what are you mixing with your coconut juice? Stop it before it completely renders you useless.
Yup!
...ya gotta love how they take all their 'talking points' from DNC websites verbatim...
...other then that, they are sad little creatures...
It's funny you call the Republican's obstructionists, when Obama had 2 years with a democratic majority and they passed nothing but Obamacare. Oh and they also enjoy suing the States that try and uphold the federal laws already on the books. Like deporting illegals, having to have an photo id to vote, don't tow illegals cars in Cali, because it could effect them financially, and the list goes on and on. Oh and lets not forget the President that has run up more debt than any President ever, and who is always bad mouthing our Country. For a guy who is supposed to be a Constitutional Lawyer, he doesn't know much about the Constitution, or upholding our Laws. We have become a joke to the whole world,, thanks to all the PC BS.
why don't you goto youtube and search maxine waters and GSE or Barney Franks and GSE or Arthur Davis and GSEs
Since 2002-2005 the Bush admin tried to put in regulations to keep the housing mess from happening and the liberals above stonewalled it until everything collapsed.
When 100% loans and desktop underwriting is being praised by Maxine Waters thats all that needs to be said.
Political Prisoner. You don't realize how big of a political prisoner you actually are to believe what you posted.
Bali Bob: When unemployment was under 5% during the Bush administration, liberals were screaming that we were in a recession and that the economy was crap. Now, to be fair, at the end of his last year, we did indeed go into a recession, but the liberals were frothing at the mouth about it long before it ever happened and long before the financial crisis ever hit. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
So, you should understand that politics plays a large part on BOTH sides, and your implication that liberals don't do the exact same thing that you accuse Republicans of doing is a lie. Deal with reality, not politics. The economy has shown a few moderately strong signs of recovery, but it is still far weaker than ANY economic recovery in my lifetime. And this is after all of Obama's so called stimulus of a trillion dollars.
Romney and his wife plan is to close all business's and out source everything over sea's. So his other wealthy friends make huge profits !Like he did at Bain Capital !
In Palm Springs Ca, Yes Romney's job was to buy companies, take them apart and get rid of the business not making money. What's wrong with that? If the company doesn't make money close it down.
Deb, is it how he going to run the country?
Scary thought
A Democrat famously said "It's the economy stupid" and defeated an incumbent president who had a 91% job approval rating less than a year earlier.
I like your post Road Warrior. I can identify with it.
GOOD ONE!
Mitt is not one of us. He is a self-centered farce. We need a REAL conservative and a real American to run against the O. As far as I am concerned, neither one of these stooges should be anywhere near the government. Wake up America, when are you going to ever support the average working class American. Rich communists do nothing for me.
Interesting post Arnold....and you "believe" the conservatives support the average working class American? I have seen no evidence of that in the past 30 years. What exactly do you think the conservatives are going to do other than start another war or steal your pension?
*waves to JT*
I haven't forgetten about ya - just behind on catching up!
Chat soon! {{{hugs}}}
Totally - cause we all identify by with a Harvard educated community organizer/one term senator.
Yeah nothing says working class like the Obama family. Ivy league, million dollar house in Chicago, kids in a posh private school.
Shoot, hard knocks all around for those folk. Plus I hear they like the other white meat, and for once I'm not talking about cat.
Where's Bo?
Spanky, President Obama was an IL State Senator for 8 years and a U.S. Senator for 2 years. Romney was a Governor for 4 years plus 1 failed Presidential campaign, soon to be 2. Didn't Romney go to Harvard too? Oh wait, he just doesn't like saying he went there because he doesn't want to sound 'special?' Romney cut 'taxes' and the deficit in Mass. by increasing all State fees, sometimes doubling fees. Romney owns at least 3 homes collectively worth app. $20 million (not including homes OUTSIDE the U.S.). Yep, those 'hard knocks' and limited truth/information you GOPers like to tout are a b*tch, aren't they?
Oh Please!... All you Obama-bots out there... You turn a blind eye to everything Obama has done wrong.. Kindly explain to me how you intend to pay down the 7 Trillion Dollars in national debt President Obama has added in the last three years. This President has added more national debt in one term than ANY other President (Democrat or Republican) in two terms.
Obama is the first President in the history of this nation to sue a state for attempting to enforce Constitutional Law, which Obama, as President, refused to adhere to. Like it or not, you can't pick an chose which laws to obey. If you don't like a law, you go through the right channels and revoke or amend the constitutional law. You don't file a lawsuit and allow foreign nations to join in the suit against ANY state in this union. In essence, Obama is allowing Foreign Nations to judicially dictate to the territories and peoples of this county.
Obama hasn't kept his campaign promises to the Hispanic Community and really hasn't done much to for the Black Community; other than a lot of talk and "hot air" promises. Home foreclosures are still up, unemployment is still high, with an almost 9% national average (the real national average is close to 15%, except the Obama Administration ignores the people who were forced to accept part-time employment or who have given up looking, because their aren't any jobs out there).
Obama didn't allow people to vote for Obama-Care... Instead the Obama Administration shoved mandated medical insurance down our throats;whether we want it or not. Do you really believe the unemployment rate won't rise when businesses forced to pay these premiums start laying off employees to keep down costs. Not to mention, a little reality check people.. Social Security and Medicare are fully funded by Employee/Employer Contributions and are trust accounts. With that said, these funds are taken out of each hardworking Americans paycheck for later use at retirement or permanent disablilty. These benefits are not funded by the government. As such, I take offense to President Obama calling these "entitlement benefits" and allocating $500 Billion from Medicare to fund his Obama-care.
Furthermore, President Obama has a lot of gall believing he can supercede the judicial authority of the Supreme Court. Per our Constitution, US Supreme Court Justices are vetted and approved via Congressional appointments. President Obama doesn't have the right to veto a Supreme Court ruling regarding the possible overturning of ObamaCare as unconstitutional. Perhaps, President Obama needs to read the Constitution and recognize the "powers and limitations" of each of the three branches of US Government-Congressional-Judical-Executive .
Gas prices are well over $4.00 per gallons across the nation and President Obama won't allow fuel to flow in via Canada to help with this economic crisis. The state of Nevada has one of the highest unemployment percentages in the country and is really suffering. In response, President Obama threatens to pull government bail out funds from companies holding their conventions in Nevada because of "Casinos and Brothels." EXCUSE ME! There is more to NEVADA than Casinos and brothels.
"Wake up and smell the coffee, President Obama"; there are Indian Reservations in every state with Casinos and, subsequently, "Hookers". You don't think those convention centers will have their fair share of both regardless of what state your in? Of course they will, what a foolish thought.
The real icing on the cake for me; is President Obama bowing to foreign leaders. These are political equals. This isn't expected from a 1st World Leader and Peer. It is not a sign of respect, it is seen as a subservient stance and sign of weakness. Plus, in 2008, President Obama stated, he was ashamed of the U.S. and was a "Citizen of the World" not just an American. Call me old fashion, but, any President who is ashamed of this country and doesn't want to be an "American First" is not someone I want to see in the White House a second term....
I could go on for hours relating the missteps, and real lack of leadership skills President Obama has.. However, those who follow Obama will ignore or deny the reality of these words. Those who are disenchanted with Obama don't need to be convinced of President Obama's poor leadership abilities. This country needs to undo the economic havoc President Obama's "Change to Believe In" has created in the last 3 1/2 years; that starts with removing President Obama from a second term in November 2012.
So, the question is: Are you going to live in denial and disillusionment following a President who is attempting to overthrow the Constitution at every turn. Or, are you going to put nation above "Party Line" and take back what is rightfully ours....our Economy, our Freedoms.. our America....
Ronzwyf- tell me how is Romney any better than Obama tell me one thing? you talk a lot of smack about Obama, but you have yet to point out why Romney would be any better? and don't give me that bulls***t about how anybody is better than Obama, because that is not enough of a reason for me to vote for him, I am not going to vote for someone out of convenience, if you really think Romney cares about our Constitution, our needs, the people, and if you really think Romney is going to wipe out all our debt overnight like its nothing than you are living in a fantasyland my friend, all Republictards care about is themselves, it has been proven over and over again, and yet we keep voting them in, and now people have finally had enough , it seems like your the one that is in denial,I am not a big fan of Obama, but I rather choose him, because he is the only one with enough common sense.
Empathy400: You are quite right. And I understand your concerns, but like you, I also will not vote for someone out of convenience. Everytime a new President is ushered in, it is inconvenient. But at the same time, I will not vote for someone who is "comfortable" in his position and refuses to make the changes that are needed. No business in the US runs like that. Employees who only do enough to get by are the first to be laid off. And right now, Obama is doing nothing that shows that he is anything but "comfortable".
Empathy, I could give you a multitude of reason not to vote for Obama, but the main reason I have is all the lies he told. He promised the most transparent Whitehouse ever, every bill would be on the internet for 72 hours, and when the bills were being debated they would be shown live on Cspan before being voted on. Not only has none of that happened, they haven't even bother to read the bills before they vote on them. One guy said they didn't have the time to read the bills, and another said they wouldn't understand them even if they did read them. How can anyone in good conscience vote on a bill that they don't have any idea whats in it? Talk about being obstructionist, they locked the door and debated Obamacare without any Republicans allowed in the room.
We also now have Obama's Executive Order:
On Friday, March 16, Obama issued another unconstitutional executive order. The National Defense Resources Preparedness EO allows the government to confiscate your property without due process under the direction of Janet Napolitano and the Department of Homeland Security
Obama’s EO allows the president to “take actions necessary to ensure the availability of adequate resources and production capability, including services and critical technology, for national defense requirements” in the event of a “potential threat to the security of the United States.”
Obama’s latest EO demonstrates once again that the executive will continue to violate the Constitution, in particular Article I, Section 1, which states: “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.”
Moreover, the order conveys such power to the heads of the following six federal agencies:
Thank you SadieLady for an educated response.
How can anyone listen to Romney and believe his economic policies are good. He wants to lower taxes on the rich even more, while he guts programs for the middle class and poor. He wants to institute all the policies that put us in this hole. Plus he wants to destroy medicare and will go after social security next.
Just another rich cat that will be working to oppress the working class and finish us off. Slavery is not something we should be endorsing.
Too close to tax day for that argument.
Want to end the democratic party? End monthly withholding of taxes by employers. Give every worker their gross earnings and make them cut a check every month.
Or make election day 4/16.
But do tell - what 'programs' do the middle class get, and why do I have to pay for them?
As an assistant Professor of Economics at Ohio State shared with me his personal opinion by email, that the Paul Ryan Plan that Romney supports is "G.W. Bush's domestic and economic policies on mutation-causing steroids."
You vote in Romney, that's an immediate invitation to have the secretive ALEC Group, the Tea Party and the Koch Brothers take charge and turn this great nation into either a collection of 50 separatist countries run by privately-owned corporations that'll turn most of the heartland and the south into a wild west shoot 'em up, a neo-fascist theocracy with no oversight in sight, a redneck-land with no public schools anywhere, or a haven for the untaxed wealthy with everyone else in the nation forced into poverty, forcefully segregated by skin color and religion. And the sheer number of jobless and homeless that will be generated as a result of Romney's policies will dot all of America's main streets, everywhere.
A vote for Romney is a vote to turn America into a, "Third World Has-Been."
rradiko - Ignoring the national debt within the context of a global economy will put the US on that path.
So far, obamas economic policy has been all rhetoric. Rhetoric I might add laden with blame. Blame the right, blame business, blame the wealthy. All while he is making backroom deals with the wealthy and businesses to keep those contributions rolling in.
Actually, one of the markings of a third world democracy is when the political parties spend more time fighting amongst themselves rather than governing. The reason for this is the spoils system, the party in power controls the spoils.
When politics becomes all about which party is in power, and less about running the country, it's all over.
Welcome to the third world.
#!/DisplacedRepublicans
NBC Poll? They're nothing but Republicans! And our President is STILL AHEAD of EXLAX ETCH-A-SKETCH! And, OH YEA, the REPUBLICANS ARE AHEAD on economy! They had the economy for EIGHT YEARS and look at what they did to it!! Pollsters you better check the DEMOCRATIC POLL, that's where the 99% American People are!
Vote STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC, the life you save may be your OWN!!!
TR.....go check Rassmussen, who actually poll LIKELY VOTERS, not just "registered voters".
They missed the 2008 election by .1%. That's NOT one percent, but point one percent.
And they've had Romney ahead for a WEEK now.
But I guess you libs are so desperate that you'll hang on to ANY poll that might show Obama is even in the neighborhood, won't you?
That's why MSNBC makes it a major HEADLINE, instead of just being listed with all the other stuff they don't consider as important.
Why don't you use some INTELLIGENCE and instead of saying "vote straight Democrat", say "vote for the BEST candidate"? Oh wait, you can't do that, can you? You've been trained to keep voting the "party line" no matter WHO it is running and how MASSIVE a failure they are.
Last election I voted for 6 Republicans and 4 Democrats based on their QUALIFICATIONS, not their party affiliation. Too bad you are so zombied out by your "entitlement" mindset that you can't even think for yourself anymore.
Oh, and by the way, if you check the FACTS, when Republicans controlled the Congress in the 90's we had a BALANCED BUDGET and were paying down the debt. 911 changed all that, and even then Democrats have borrowed and spent more in just THREE years than this nation did under Bush in EIGHT.
What a perfect example of IGNORANCE! In what reality did Republicans have full control for 8 years? Do you understand how utterly foolish your statement is? When the GOP did have control gas was $2/gallon. It was not until DEMOCRATS took control of CONGRESS in 2006 did prices escalate.
Obama had TOTAL and FULL control for 2 years and what were the results? Record deficit spending, record unemployment, record foreclosures and well I could go on and on but a person like you does'nt understand factual evidence so why bother.......
I'm a Republican voting Straight Democratic Ticket in 2012 for the very reasons you mention and more. Making Obama a one term president only comes from the "Tea Party Republicans" and not the "Reagan Republicans". I'm sure President Reagan is truly ashamed of his party today. I am.
insight......You actually believe that Democrats passing NO budget for the government for THREE years is a "success"?
You actually believe that RECORD borrowing, RECORD deficit spending, and RECORD debt is a success?
You actually believe that RECORD unemployment, the longest unemployment for this nation above 8% since the depression is a success?
You aren't a Republican and probably never have been. You're just another liberal that feels the need to lie and "say" you are a Republican because you actually think, like all liberals, that you can fool people.
Cheryl? And YOU believe W's borrowing $$$ to fund his two wars and Medicare Part D ( off the books ) and dungeon master Cheney's "deficits don't matter" really don't count. It's all OBAMA, and no actions taken by conservatives ever contributed to today's mess? Yeah....OK....
Do you even comprehend how close we came to a complete collapse of the GLOBAL economy because of the conservative's short sighted policies and outright GREED??! Oh....wait.....let me find a Democrat to blame....they are RESPONSIBLE for the downfall of civilization as we know it, right?
CherylLM I've been saying the same thing for the last year or so about the budget and borrowing and regardless of who the next pres is it's time to pay the piper and have a budget and deal with the problems we have instead of assigning blame. I'm a Clintonite Democrat and as I've aged I've become less liberal and more moderate. My brother just told me Obama was going to win the election but I still think three things will decide the election. The Economy, The Unemployment Rate, and the price of Food and Gas. The blame game is old and we need a Statesman(woman) instead of a partisan politician as our next president and if Obama is going to get re-elected he needs to step up to the plate. If not he's going to be a one termer.
NBC Poll? They're nothing but Republicans!
---------------------------------------------------
You're just another liberal that feels the need to lie
--------------------------------------------------------
Keep up that wonderful hyperbole guys. It's the best recruiting tool Third Parties have. Thanks.
Obama in a landslide. It wont even be close. The mormon boy will always be a follower. Never a leader. Spoon fed ???. He knows how to screw people. Thats it. He is unqualified to be president. He is determined to make a mockery of our political system and its laughable. Only 10% of the people should be voting for this turd. The millionaires and the mormons. The folks he is going to help. The rest should be voting for Obama if they had any brains in their head.
Being a leader doesn't take ability, it's takes responsibility. President Obama took on the responsibility of health care for ALL Americans, Romney has been running away from his responsibilities ever since he passed the Mass. Health Care Law.
You actually believe that RECORD borrowing, RECORD deficit spending, and RECORD debt is a success?
Nope, sorry, RECORD borrowing, RECORD deficit spending, and RECORD debt all belong to George W. Bush, Dick "deficits don't matter" Cheny and Republican majorities in both houses of Congress for 6 out of 8 years.
The proof is all in the national debt numbers:
2001 - Bush's first budget - national debt = $5.8T
2009 - Bush's last budget - national debt = $11.9T
It took 200 years to rack up $5.8T. It took Republicans less than 8 years to more than double it, adding another $6.1T! Say what you will, no one wants that again!
I kept looking for reasons why this election is going to be so close and according to this article I could not find one strong argument. I am glad that the press is not painting a negative picture of Romney. I would rather think positively about both candidates.
Romney's weakness is his inability to stay focused on one issue or keep his position on an issue without changing it.
Obama's weakness is trying to maintain calmness while being attached negatively by everyone including those that are holier than thou. I can't beleive top church officials using street language like comparing a president to the worst dictator in history.
Let the people decide!!!!
your facts are semi correct but "no one wants that again" is way wrong. If we re-elect Obama this will happen all over again-
Obama -3 years -More debt than all EIGHT years of bush! Just Google it
Why is it that I see the same liberals posting under different names? We all know how you respond on this newsvine already. Is it really necessary to deceive the people with different names just so you can up your own remarks?
Yes, you know who you are.
LMAO! The ol' "off the books" argument... All "off the books" means is that it wasn't listed as a line item in a budget proposal or appropriations request. It still showed (by whatever other name) up on treasuries balance sheets.
EE - so since obama and company don't what to get any approved budget guidelines it is acceptable then to ignore the rate that obama is adding to our debt.
Historical events aside let's just look at your math and your numbers...
First off, lets look at your basic assumption that the numbers you present are tied to the fiscal years beginning on October 1 of each year and are supplied by the treasury department.
We have the bush administration adding $11.9 trillion minus $5.8 trillion = $6.1 trillion, right? Hold on now, The bush FY 2009 budget didn't reflect the approximate $0.9 trillion stimulas added to it by obama in march 2009.
Let's give credit where credit is due. The debt for bushes last FY needs to be adusted to allow for obamas 2009 stimulas... Now bushes $6.1 trillion becomes $5.2 trillion added to the national debt. and obamas debt starts at an adjusted $11 trillion and not $11.9 trillion.
Let's just ignore obamas FY 2013 deficit and look at the US reaching another debt ceiling of a conservative $16 trillion sometime 4Q 2012. Obama started with a national debt of $11 T and will have reached a debt limit of $16 T this year... That means that obama has added $5 T in public debt over the past 3 years vs bush2 adding $5.2 T over 8 years.
Sure looks like obama and company will soon be the new record holders for debt creation once FY 2013 is added in.
BTW - Obama and company are doing a wonderful job on taking cheneys comment to heart. "deficits don't matter", Lmao! At least the teaparty believes that deficits do matter.
The fact is we all pay more money for ever day things. Fact is Obama and his energy secretary made comments in 2008 that America should be paying what Europe pays for gas and then lo and behold we have $5/gallon gas. Speculators knew Obama wanted hire prices so it was a pretty safe bet and they all made millions.
Americans in the end will vote with their wallets. Women who buy the weekly groceries will not vote again for him. White men will vote in record numbers seeing how in Obama's eyes we do not matter. So let him lead the ignorant minorities cause THIS time, it ain't gonna be enough.........
Larry, half-truths don't make them truths, no matter how you might like to believe them, or how the GOP likes to spin things. Energy Secretary Chu made the statement about gas prices BEFORE Obama even became President, and Obama NEVER made that statement. Speculators don't listen to anyone but Oil Corps., who for some odd reason supported the GOP $25 million to $5 million in lobbyist donations. The only ignorance being spread like manure, is what the GOP has continuously done for the past 30 years towards their own constituents, in spite of themselves and at the cost of being/staying poor/poorer, for no other reason than believing lies.
Larry, you are many things, but you are not a credit to the "white men" for whom your heart bleeds. In fact, you are not much of a credit to the species, and this comes from a white woman who not only buys groceries, but holds down a job and is very, very, very tired of aging Tea Party crybabies.
I still scratch my head as to why Republicans are generally seen as being better for the economy. They talk a good line about being business-oriented but that actually just means they want themselves and their rich buddies and political supporters to get richer. You know, the whole trickle down thing that DOESN'T WORK. I hope the U.S. voters don't fall for that hogwash again with Romney. The guy is a plutocrat who will say anything to get elected, and then once elected he will sell our country to people like the anonymous donor who gave 10 million to his campaign.
Because FACTUAL evidence shows under GOP control, the economy is ALWAYS better. The ONLY factual evidence to support a Democrat having a good economy was Clinton second term when the Congress went GOP and he had to work with them. Our economy under Bush was sailing along until 2 major events, first 9/11 and then the Dodd Frank housing bill that gave mortgages to people who could not afford them. Try dealing with facts and evidence for a change........
@fieldguy,
Ronald Reagan was peeing on their heads while telling them it was raining. They still believe it 30 some-odd years later despite all evidence to the contrary. Tax cuts for the job creators? What happened to the jobs?
Bali,
Indeed the "job creators" are living large with their Bush tax cuts but are still not spending it on hiring. So much for that whole GOP scam.
Let's use some logic. Economic growth needs people to consume, buy things. Liberals believe consumption is what's destroying the planet. So how can a liberal president be pro-growth while he has a liberal obligation to raise energy prices to curb consumption? Bill Clinton had to declare the era of big government was over and ran as a "new kind of Democrat" to get re-elected.
Larry - If Congress would have worked with Obama where do you think we would be today? I'm a Republican and don't blame Obama at all for what has happened to us this past 10 years. Wars based on lies that cost us billions and no way to pay for them didn't start with Obama. Obama took office hoping to cross lines and get us back on our feet but a paper was signed and a "one term president regardless of how much we suffer" took hold. It will be a very long time before I vote for another Republican. My best advise to anyone at this point is get your facts straight and stop believing commercials, talk radio and please turn off Fox news. Republicans need to wake up or our children/middle class/elderly will suffer greatly under Mitt.
Thank you, insight! Exactly!
Larry, when it comes to all the cool things that happened in the Bush Administration, until that doggone 9-11 and the Dodd-Frank bill stole our paradise, didn't you forget Bushy's big, pointless bloodbath in Iraq and the inconclusive mess that your boy left in Afghanistan? Bushy tax cuts for the rich? Thirty-plus years of dismantling monopoly laws, which started under Saint Ron?
I have no love for the Democrats, who rolled over on most of the above fiascos, but at least the Democrats aren't telling me that I'm a slut, or trying to frame corporatized embezzlement in a load of homespun religious horse @!$%#. You want to smile and grovel to CEOs who'd leave your carcass in the road, that's your right, but just understand that Mitt and his pals have zero intention of lifting you up from the ditch.
Insight, you say a war based on lies, no it was based on the intelligence they had to go by. It was a declaration by both Republicans and Democrats. For all we know they could have had WMD's and moved them to Syria or Pakistan. Look at Osama Bin Laden, he lived in Pakistan for years, and the U.S. couldn't touch him. Pakistan was supposed to be one of our allies, what a joke that turned out to be. It's funny how the press used to tell how many soldiers died everyday when Bush was in office, but not now that Obama is the President. It should be the same no matter which party you are loyal to!
insight.......quit with the "I'm a Republican" bullshlt. If you can't see what a failure obumbo has been, you are not and never have been a Republican. Just another obumbo cheerleader!
No republican president this time. Ain't gonna happen. I'm much more concerned with getting the goddamn republicans out of the Congress. Be a good deed if someone would spray the Capitol building with a potent helping of tick killer while both Houses are in session. Need to be rid of the blood sucking republicans residing there. A good stout grass killer would remove most of the "southern" sons-a-bitches. Republicanism is more aggravating to this country than a pack of rats working a silo full of new corn. Romney is a joke of very unpleasant and humorless provocation that needs to quit cheating, pay his rightfully owed taxes, sit down and shut up, and get the hell out of public view. He is a man whose aspirations so over burden His native abilities, He always overwhelms Himself to the point of appearing a proper and certifiable dunce.
USA: Don't worry about INSIGHT. You can always tell when these liberals are posting under more than one name.
fieldguy - Republicans are only seen by other Republicans as being better for the economy.
Larry - so not true. History has shown over and over again that the Democrats are always cleaning up the economic mess left by the GOP - and they're much better at it!
usa1967 - you calling anyone names is almost funny. Your lack of intelligence is only overshadowed by your eagerness to show how dumb you really are. And, you're the perfect representative for the GOP - no brain cells at all!
Talk about "brainless", SeekingSanity (I can certainly see why you need to "seek sanity") - you are the epitomy of having "no brain cells at all". Spare youself and us. Quit posting! Your words are only wishful thinking. Obama is the worse President EVER and has amassed more debt in his 3.5 years than ALL of the Presidents combined! What do you have to say about that? What do you have to say about him cowtailing and bowing to the ENEMY? What do you have to say about him cutting our Military and risking our safety; especially in todays "hostile" climate? What do you have to say about his total disregard for our Constitution? What do you have to say about him sneeking in his "healthcare reform" behind closed doors in the middle of the night that most of us DON'T want? What do you have to say about him voting more than once to allow innocent defenseless babies who have survived abortion to die a long agonizing death without medical intervention? What do you have to say about the lies and broken promises? What do you have to say about his total LACK of experience as a Leader especially of the greatest nation on earth? What do you have to say about his Socialistic agenda? What do you have to say about him attending American Flag burnings in his college days? What does that say about him?? What do you have to say about him taking more vacations than any other President in history? I could go on and on, but I won't. ANYONE but Obama in 2012. P.S.: The truth will set you free!
Money can buy anything in America except YOU and ME. Mitt Romney is about to prove just that!
Imagine that - Feisty Redhead is able to post her liberal views first on an MSNBC article. But you're not a plant, right?
I know. Even when I am lucky enough to be posted first( it has happened more than once), suddenly my post gets "erased" (later on). Imagine that!
Maybe Feisty works at MSNBC?
Wolfe on CCN talking about Hillary running in 2016 -- Given our choice between dumb and dumber she could jump in spend very little and win. Not a Hillary fan but 2012 is now or never for her because she could pull votes from both parties.
Naw.....
It's gonna be Blagojevich/Corzine in 2016, with Bernie Madoff to head the Fed!
Seriously, the people that are qualified to run the country are too smart to be sucked in. So we get stuck every election selecting from a bunch of losers.
It's like voting for Cancer or Polio.
I was hoping that Howard Dean would challenge Obama this year. He's a very smart man- one of the very few dems as smart as Obama. I'd love to see him and Robert Reich making an impact on our country.
The Republicans got us into this mess. Why would we want to go back to their economic policies? How is giving Mitt, Albert Pulous, and Britney Speers an extra 3 million in tax breaks going to help me. Shut down planned parenthood, reverse Roe v Wade, eliminate HUD, scrape Medicade? The fifty's are over. We can't nor should we go back to them. 46% of Americans don't earn enough money to pay taxes. How is squeezing them going to balance the budget?
Excuse me? How much did Obama cut off the deficit, that we should continue to vote for him. How much?
Is the country even remotely better off? Or is his unemployment bigger now, then it was before? All that change with Obama.
You are quite right! But blaming the upper class is just as foolish as not putting any blame on the lower income group as well. The middle class really is sheltering too much of the burden for the upper AND the lower classes. It's time Obama reconsiders his policies towards BOTH of them.
Unhappy? Sorry, no. You are NOT excused.
** How much did Obama cut off the deficit, that we should continue to vote for him. How much?
At least the actual cost of two wars and the Medicare Part D that our president's predicessor conveniently left "off the books". Real dollars, borrowed from China. yeah, let's blame our President for bringing that deficit burden into the light of day. (NOT!)
** Is the country even remotely better off? Or is his unemployment bigger now, then it was before?
Yes, it is getting better every day! In spite of uber-conservatives doing everything in their power to block our President's proposals and ideas, yes....it is improving.
Americans were smart enough to see through little texas ricky,,,
And,.
They're smart enough to see through willard,.. the poster boy for America's 1%.
I like grits !!!!!
""He’s also ahead of Romney when it comes to being knowledgeable and experienced about the presidency (45 percent to 30 percent), being a good commander-in-chief (43 percent to 33 percent), being consistent and standing up for his beliefs (41 percent to 30 percent), and being honest and straightforward (37 percent to 30 percent).""
K1200RS - Your last paragraph proves that the people do not think Obama should be reelected. For a sitting President to not even get over 45% favorable means he will have a very tight race and hasn't been able to close the deal on his reelection. Remember more Americans know who Obama is because he is the sitting President and has been campaigning since Jan 2009 (his whole time in office), and most of it on the taxpayers dime. Further, Obama is the President and Commander-in-Chief, while Romney has not.
This election will be about the ECONOMY & JOBS, not about who has the best personality, and I would think you and the other democrats would be very concerned that only 37% think he is honest and straightforward.
sfcret - actually the 37% figure is high. Only about 12% think Romney is honest and nobody believes he is straightforward. You were of course, talking about Romney!
SeekingSanity, Read the article stupid a$$, then you can commit. Sneak on a thread almost 24 hrs later to leave a stupid remark shows your lack of intelligence.
Grow up and get a life.
Many voters haven't gotten to know Mitt yet. Once they do he is in big trouble
We have had over three years to get to know Obama. Like what you see? The divider. The deficit spending. The war. The unemployment rate. The record food stamp recipients. The record foreclosures. Patriot Act. Damn that Bush. LOL
I still believe most voters do not know Obama. He is a gifted salesman and politician, but only seems to care about the election from what I can see. . I am convinced he has most voters fooled.
Finklebug, it is you who is uninformed!
obumbo the snakeoil salesman who promised "hope and change". LOL LOL LOL We got change alright, gas went from $2 to $4. The Nat Debt went from 11T to 16T. The deficit went thru the roof. We got obumbocare shoved up our a$$. As for hope?? I think hopeless is a better term.
I don't vote for President based on the economy, I never have. I am pretty sure I am not alone. There are a lot of Americans that are not affected in a major way by the ups and downs of the general economy. These folks have made good decisions all by themselves, without government or private sector forces pulling them up or down. Also, at least 80% of those who want/need jobs have good ones or don't work by choice (retirement is an example). Why some 12-16 million unemployed folks among 230+ million of voting age is what the politicians and pundits play to is beyond me. Don't get me wrong, I care and hope everyone who needs a job or a better job will achieve that goal, I just KNOW that government is only one part of the economic factors. Private sector actions and personal responsibility have equal culpability.
That is just fact.
Anyone who -- for example -- votes for or against a presidential candidate based on gas prices is someone who has no idea how the world works. Too bad a lot of folks are uninformed and use ideology, instead of reality in forming opinions or casting votes.
I'll be voting for the person who best represents me in each vote I cast -- local, state and national. Who I like and agree with more is far more important to me than the "what can you do for me" type of totally un-self-aware thinking mentioned by the pundits and politico. Makes you sad for our country that so many voters don't take personal responsibility for being informed and want to blame others for what ails them.
Thomas Jefferson weeps at what we have become in the age of "what can you do for me?" How can a free country with government of, for and by the people have so many people that hate said government? Do they hate themselves... or just the fact the majority did not or does not think just like them.
Hello It's April, before everyone gets their shorts in a knot, let's wait and see.
It's amazing the number of people who are falling for Romney's trickle down tax ideas. Don't they understand who is going be sitting on the bottom floor of that 100 story outhouse. Only the guys at the top come out good on that deal.
I'm sure he just lost a "family of voters" from that bakery he didn't want to eat their cookies...How many more votes will Romney lose by November. lol
Shows you how much he really supports "small businesses". By the way Romney the gypsum factory closed down in 2008 - Bush was President during that time...Not President Obama....
Romney loves the "blame game"....Bush probably signed those papers that sent that gun over to Mexico too...
Watching Chris Matthews show -- Howard Fineman just said "pure independents" are the ones who will vote on the economy. How does he decide this. I have never been a member of a political party -- voted R and D in my [pretty] long voting history (national and local/state) and I do not vote based on the economy.
Why? I am smart enough to know the government is not the sole deciding factor in the economy and the president is not the sole deciding factor in the government.
I get so sick of the know it all pundits who have no idea what so many, many folks really think. Sure opinion polls have something to say ... but that is only based on who answers the phone.
Anyway, how can we be serious with polling adding up to 92-95% in all the stats published now. Just fodder so the TV machine has talking heads? Dang.
I suspect this will wind up as a very close election which is six months off. We will probably see the polls flip flop between now and then.
And who's the President as between 6000 and 9000 retail stores close in 2012 Toyota?
Who's the President that has had three record deficits Toyota? Who's the President that has borrowed and spent more money in the shortest amount of time than ANY President in our history Toyota?
FIVE Trillion dollars for a whole net "gain" of just over ONE million jobs Toyota. Wow!! He could have just sent everyone a check and everyone would have been be better off than the way this "genius" has thrown money away.
And who's the President that took office preaching ONE nation, not blue/red, not black/white, but instead UNITED? And then has spent over three years preaching nothing but class warfare, political filth, and even racism (remember "punish your enemies"?), and has even attacked the Supreme Court of this nation just because he's afraid they will vote down his unConstitutional mandate?
Oh, that would be OBAMA.
mmmm mmmm mmmm Barack Hussein Obama mmmm mmmm mmmm
President Barack Hussin Obama will be re-elected in November...don't get mad.
Agree!
I'm not mad. I like Rassmussen, because they are ACCURATE. And they've had Romney ahead for a week now, while this NBC "poll" has had Obama ahead for what, 24 hours now?
Don't get mad when this corrupt, lying, inept, incompetent "leader" loses his re-election bid in November.
Cheryl: You should be mad at Bush for destroying America in 8 years.
Financial collapse happened between 2000 and 2008. Came to a head in Sept 2008 when Bush pushed for the TARP Financial Bail out.
Republicans must have been under those rocks during Bush's error.
Cheryl, I'm sure you didn't get angry when Bush used the Supreme Court and stepped over the Constitution (legal recount of votes) to get re-elected, eh? Or when we ILLEGALLY invaded a country that posed no threat to us? Or when over $10 BILLION dollars in cash just disappeared in Iraq? Or that Bush rang up $10 TRILLION in combined budget and current account deficits? Or how bad things were at Walter Reed Veterans Hospital? Or that 200,000 U.S. citizens lost their lives because of no health insurance? Or the lack of oversight and regulations in the Bush Administration that caused Americans to lose $12 TRILLION in investments, retirement and home values? I see, Cheryl, you believe lies, illegal wars, corruption, torture, job losses by the millions, stealing taxes to make the rich richer and the worst economical disaster since 1929 are okay with you, but insuring fellow AMERICANS who are sick gets a 'HELL NO!' from your lips, eh? Talk about someone's views being skewed.
How the hell did the USA ever elect a muslim named BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA as it's president?????????????????? Embarrassing to say the least.
Cheryl,
Rasmussen polls have been described by TIME as a "conservative-leaning polling group," and Nate Silver of the NYT found in 2010:
"[P]olls conducted by the firm Rasmussen Reports — which released more than 100 surveys in the final three weeks of the campaign, including some commissioned under a subsidiary on behalf of Fox News — badly missed the margin in many states, and also exhibited a considerable bias toward Republican candidates."
-You can read more from the article "Rasmussen Polls Were Biased and Inaccurate; Quinnipiac, SurveyUSA Performed Strongly".
America's economic debacle was inherited from the previous Repugnican administration, so it's ironic that this is now supposed to help the next Repugnican contender's prospects. I would hope that American voters are more intelligent than that. No matter how effective his policies, any new president would have found it a tall order to fix in four years what the Repugnicans so thoroughly destroyed in eight.
Optimist
America's "economic debacle" was inherited from CRA, sub-prime, and Fannie and Freddie committing fraud. ALL of them were passed, protected, and pushed by Democrats, even when in 2003 Bush warned there would be an economic crisis if it wasn't GOTTEN UNDER CONTROL.
While your hate filled filth probably works with your like minded liberal haters, it doesn't work with people that know the FACTS.
Optimist: Those with common sense know this...then we have the republicons.
15 Trillion in debt did not get racked up by President Obama in 3.5 years...I wonder who racked up that other 10Trillion? Republicans need to remember years 2000 thru (financial collaspe-2008).
Common sense tells us we can't fix 8 years of Bush's failures in 3.5 years.
Cheryl = Hater
Wow....and of course the FORTY years before the Republicans had it for a whole EIGHT the Democrats were just budget balancing debt paying fools, weren't they?
And if you check the two HIGHEST deficits that Bush had were when Democrats controlled Congress. But that's probably just a coincidence.
Just like the two longest periods of econominc disaster in this nation's history have been while a Democrat was in the White House and Democrats were in control of Congress is a "coincidence".
And J, where have I preached hate?
Have I called you a name that describes a foul sex act? Have I attempted any class warfare filth? Have I attacked because of race or gender? Nope, none of the above.
"hater" comes so easily from people like you. Because it's easy for you to hate I guess, all while claiming to be "open", "progressive", and of course "tolerant".
Bottom line is the Financial collaspe happened while Bush was in the White House, not President Obama. You republicans can't handle the truth...
Hey Cheryl did you catch Romney's lies today...How man gaffes will he have by November, let's start counting...
Toyota, how about some realistic facts. First, the mortgage crisis began back when carter was President, with the community reinvestment act. Second, it was perpetuated by clinton when he told Fannie and Freddie to back the toxic loans and thought that every person should own a house, even when you can't afford it. The senate and house was controlled by the dems at the time of the collapse. barney frank and maxine waters sat in front of congress just a few months before it collapsed and stated the Fannie and Freddie had no problems and was on sound financial footing. Bush sent his people to capital hill at least 17 timesto warn the democrats and was rebuffed every single time.

The list of articles does not end with these.
TOYOTA,
if it makes you feel any better i don't intend to vote for Bush or obama.
Liberals have no proof of Chery being a hater. They just like calling people haters because that's all they can come up with. Most liberals, like J, talk like immature teenagers. Then again, they probably are immature teenagers.
First, the mortgage crisis began back when carter was President, with the community reinvestment act.
No, It did not. The CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) was signed into law in 1977. From 1998 to 2005, the percentage of mortgage defaults was flat at around 2.5%. Starting the 3rd Q of 2006, mortgage defaults started to rise, peaking at about 13% in 4th Q of 2009. If CRA was responsible, why in the hell did it take 28 years to make itself known?
There is a much simpler explanation. From the moment George W. Bush took office in 2001, he was pushing minority home ownership. From a radio address to the nation in June, 2001, just six months after Bush took office:
For instance, while the rate of homeownership amongst all Americans is nearly 68 percent, the rate among African-American and Hispanic families is under 50 percent. One particular program, the American Dream Downpayment Fund, will provide $200 million in downpayment assistance to help 130,000 low-income families buy homes.
All legislation is documented on government websites. Look this one up; it is quite interesting:
American Dream Downpayment Initiative (ADDI) - signed into law on Dec 16, 2003.
Sponsor: Sen. Wayne Allard [R-CO]
Co-sponsors: Samuel Brownback [R-KS]; Conrad Burns [R-MT]; Ben Campbell [R-CO]; Michael Crapo [R-ID]; Michael Enzi [R-WY]; Charles Hagel [R-NE]; Lisa Murkowski [R-AK]; Richard Santorum [R-PA]; Jefferson Sessions [R-AL]
Note that there was not one Democrat co-sponsoring this bill. The bill was sponsored by a Republican, co-sponsored only by other Republicans, passed by a Republican majority in the House and Senate and signed into law by a Republican president.
This act reduced the downpayment for all GSE (Fannie, Freddie and FHA) loans to 3%. At the same time, George W Bush directed GSE's to pump $440B into the secondary mortgage market. You all remember the secondary mortgage market, right? Many economists place the blame for the mortgage meltdown primarily on the secondary mortgage market.
This is a simple case of supply and demand; with the huge influx of more money into the secondary mortgage market, prices rose precipitously, leading to a bubble that would eventually pop and help devastate the US economy.
No, the CRA had nothing to do with the mortgage meltdown. The blame rests solely on Republican shoulders and their stupid manipulation of the housing market!
I'm sorry but Obama is a Muslum ,socialist, and is out to destroy a country he hates. This country is all that a socialist despises because it allows people the freedom to act on their own. If you take notice Obama has more Czars or Heads of ( Whatever ) than any 10 past presidents. A look into his past which is almost non- existent on paper should arouse some suspicion. That the media don't want to ask the questions that a reporter from the supermarket shoppers guide would ask is only more proof that this guy is a fraud. The fact that we have more oil and coal than most countries on the planet yet can't use it. This to me is proof that the environmentalist movement in this country is part of a conspiracy to kill our economy. I have seen the commercials that have a baby coughing and choking in a stroller and call for more clean air standards. Where are the ones that show kids in tattered clothes and starving because the coal mine closed down because EPA standards shut down the power plant. Obama is a part of the destruction of AMERICA ! If you are not smart enough to see this then you are to blinded by some prejudice to accept facts.

The president is gaining on the opposition ... I trust it will improve. The only issue but a big one is the economy of course. Talking point:
One BIG reason the economy is better but not as quickly as wanted is that our president and the Democratic party was foiled at every turn. The DISLOYAL opposition, uncompromising and extreme, wants to crucify our president by any means necessary EVEN if it means the country will suffer. This is how patriotic Republics are ... NOT. To gain power they would rather see the economy in the tank then work with Democrats to ensure the opposite. The fault dear Brutus is NOT in our president but in a Republican party racist and mean who will stop at nothing to defeat him. The small stimulus WORKED and a larger one would have worked even better.
The same thing happened to FDR when the "nine old men" as he called them on his rancid Supreme Court declared the very things that were getting us out of the Great Depression unconstitutional then his recovery slipped until WWII. History is repeating itself. More stimulus as Krugman and Robert Reish said would have worked but the president could not do that without bipartisan support. Bipartisanship is NOT in the Republican vocabulary any more. Emphasize that! DO NOT CAPITULATE TO ANYTHING REPUBLICANS WANT. STAND OUR GROUND!!
very nice post, Rosen. As I have accused several on this site of, they hate Obama more than they love their country or countrymen.
