“Mitt Romney is accusing President Barack Obama of failing to fulfill the campaign promises he made four years ago, as Obama warns Republicans would ‘gut’ support for federal programs such as education to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy,” Bloomberg writes. “In dueling swing-state speeches yesterday -- Obama’s in Elyria, Ohio, and Romney’s in Charlotte, North Carolina -- the president and his Republican challenger are sharpening their messages in the early weeks of the general election campaign.” (Here’s Romney’s prebuttal video.)
The New York Times’ full write-up of the most recent NYT/CBS poll, which finds Obama and Romney running neck and neck: “The general election match between Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney is opening with evidence that economic conditions are providing ammunition for both candidates. For Mr. Obama, there is a gradually growing perception that the general outlook is turning brighter, and for Mr. Romney, there are those individuals who still do not feel substantial improvement in their own lives.”
Obama leads 46-42% in a new Quinnipiac poll.
“With native son Mitt Romney as the likely Republican nominee, the president's re-election prospects in Michigan once appeared grim,” the AP writes. “While the state economy has a long way to go to regain the 857,000 jobs it has lost since mid-2000, voters are telling pollsters they're starting to notice a subtle upswing -- and that could be good news for Obama.”
Romney leads in New Hampshire, 44-42%, according to a Dartmouth College poll.
The fight over Voter ID laws has become a multi-state, multi-million dollar fight with corporations financing both sides. Companies roped in, include Wal-Mart, AT&T, and Johnson & Johnson, Bloomberg reports.
Rick Perry says he would want to run again in 2016. He said the thing that hurt him most was his “heart” remarks, not “oops” as much.
The shenanigans in Michigan continue, as the GOP there is trying to make Santorum’s delegates uncommitted, which got Santorum’s lawyer involved.

Our Republican state legislature in Maine just capped workman's compensation for severely injured workers at ten years. This is the Republican agenda at work, because they also reduced taxes for millionaires at the same time. The writing is on the wall, Republicans aren't secretive about what they consider the priority in this country, I just hope the Independents start paying attention to what Republican state governments are actually doing in those states where they won seats in 2010.
Amy, If you knew anything abour Worker Compensation Insurance, 10 years is more than most other states allow. In my state, it is only 2 years.
Fust right Amy, rich folks need the money that was meant for disabled folks to live in some dignity. If this is not class warfare, what is it? The rich get richer and the poor die. rocco, what your state does isn't right either. It is even more wrong than Maine.

Romney = deranged cult member !
All Romney's done so far is attack the President. At some point Mitt's going to have to tell us what his agenda would be specifically. I guess first he's going to have to figure out, from his often-changing positions on many issues, what he's going to do. So far, he's just talking in generalites, except there's one comment I remember about spending billions for aircraft carriers. Seems like he wants to keep his rhetoric away from any solid ideas and just throw rocks. What's he afraid of? That we'll find out he's a shallow empty suit or that his whole goal is just run for the office because he can?
Exactly Joan. As Ann Romney said "it's our turn". They both feel entitled to the presidency. If (and that is never going to happen) they did get to the white house, they'd just turn the presidency over to someone else. Romney is as clueless as they come. Romney's whole agenda is hate, all he knows how to do is follow the tea people Koch republicans. Romney has proved over and over all he can do is follow, he's not a leader.
Holy Cow!
That's EXACTLY what we were thinking about Obummer!! LOL
Weird
You sound just like Romney - taking someone else's thoughts because you can't come up with your o
Don't know what happened there...............with your own words.
romney will attack 24/7 and if he can help it, there will be no debate. that's the way they work, shout it from the roof tops and keep shouting until it sticks.
kr - Yes Romney will attack 24/7 just like Obama will attack 24/7. Difference is one would think that a sitting President and his campaign staff could run on his record and not stoop to character assassination. I keep seeing the President dissing the House Budget but I have not seen him push the Senate to come up with a Budget. The democrats in the Senate have no plans and the President's plan is throw more money at the problem and raise taxes.
Romney won't make any campaign promises so he can never have someone say he broke his. He is gonna just ride on the "I have no ideas other than helping the uber wealthy and Obama bad" bandwagon as long as possible. If you are voting for him it is just because he has an R after his name.
Romney = deranged cult member !
Reportedly Willards campaign is following President Obama everywhere....sounds like stalking to me!
Yes chilled, and there he will remain, in the president's shadow. He will keep company in American History with the likes of Wendall Wilkie.
Mitt Romney will say anything to get elected, whatever he thinks will work with any given audience. He will mouth lies and distortions in the most blatant way. All that matters to him is personal victory, even at the cost of this country and its future.
At the end of the day, Romney is nothing but smoke and mirrors, an empty soul in an empty suit.
He has spent his life working toward one goal: to enrich and elevate himself above his father, who was only a governor.
Compare him to Barack Obama, whose lifelong goal is to be useful to the electorate, to leave behind a legacy that will give America's children a life more hopeful than our own.
I know which one is the better man.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Willard's agenda is to make the rich richer on the backs of the poor and middle class.
So much BS about a dog traveling in a cage, ATM's increasing the cost of gas, and so much more. Anything to take the focus from the truth.
Are you better off today with the Obama hope and change or not?
Spending is up, government is out of control, gasoline continues to rise, and prices at the stores are creeping up. Government is large, and they want more of your money.
Can you actually believe we will all be better off with Obama for another four years?
Focus on the man's record, then tell me he's the man for the ages.
