False. In the first decade of the 21st century, there was ZERO net job growth. ZERO!!!!!!!!!. And the recession negated that. The Obama administration would be close in having net positive job growth if they got a second term.

Lay off the references and jokes about Obama eating dog meat. He ate it when he was 6 YEARS OLD in an Asian country where dog meat is a staple food and PERFECTLY NORMAL and acceptable. They have "food" dogs and birds in cages everywhere in places like Vietnam and Cambodia, (although this is inhumane, and I do not condone this especially in America). You know what else they eat all the time there? They eat deep fried tarantulas in Cambodia, and Fetal duck egg in Vietnam! Big deal, get over it. Different cultures have different customs and norms. I can tell you from experience, as I have traveled to numerous different countries including several countries in Asia. I went to Vietnam and Cambodia 2 years ago, when I was 13 and ate fetal duck egg and ostrich. Just a couple weeks ago I ate alligator and kangaroo in Australia! It is okay to try various culinary customs when traveling through different countries. What we consider as disgusting and terrible in America may be perfectly normal in a different country. Wrong. The 1% is anyone making over 350k per year. Obama made two and a half times that last year. And of course it was handed to him, are you friggin insane. This is a case of "post hoc ergo propter hoc." This means, "Since that event followed this one, that event must have been caused by this one," which is incorrect. It is correlation, not causation. Bush started the whole ball rolling. He left office right before the major effects of his presidency started surfacing. Obama got in just in time to take the blame for the economic crash. They tried and are trying numerous different measures to counteract this crash, but you never know what it takes to stop a depression. You know, it took WWII to get us out of the Great Depression. If you are expecting the economy and unemployment to get all patched up quickly, you are sorely mistaken. It's likely going to get worse before it gets better.

If Romney was President the past three years I do not see how anything would be better or different, if not worse. How would Romney approach or do anything different than Bush? First of all, Romney IS a self-made man. He had already made his fortune before his father's death. What money he inherited from his father's estate he donated to BYU. Yes, he had some privileges growing up in a wealthy family, but nothing that stands out as "over the top". While many claim that ROmney doesn't "get" the 99% (and that may or may not be true), the Obama's don't seem to truly get the 99% either. They don't seem to understand that perception plays a huge role in what we think about them. Time and again, they have gone off on expensive trips (sometimes throwing in a meeting or two so that they can claim they were doing the country's business) while most Americans are finding it difficult to take the family to the beach (or some other localized vacation) for a week. How many Americans have taken "stay at home" vacations or just extended weekend trips instead of a traditional vacation due to the current financial situation. I don't begrudge them a vacation, all presidents and their families have taken them, but to be extravagent during the current economic crisis makes me think of the Romanovs or Marie Antoinette. Saying you care and you feel our pain is just words....show the American people that you actually get it.

Just because most of Americans can't have a couple international vacations a year, doesn't mean that those that earned enough should stop having fun. Obama's stepfather was an Engineer (IIRC it was one of the big oil companies that sent him to Indonesia on ajob) and if you reread the book 's passage - it says that "AWAY from the dinner table he ate dog meat". His family certainly wasn't living in poverty in Indonesia. The young Obama tried dog meat at the local street vendors as an adventure. (The French eat horse meat -- and they're supposed to be civlized!!) And obviously you don't have to live in a third world country to know hunger ...

When Obama was about 9 or 10, his mother sent back to Honolulu to live with her parents - until he graduated and went off to college (first to Columbia and then Harvard). His Grandmother was a VP for the Bank of Hawaii. She got him a scholarship to the exclusive prep school. So no Obama wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but he didn't grow up poor or even lower middle class either.

Michelle also grew up in a stable middle class family (not without life's struggles). However, she was picked to attend a prestigousus MAGNET School in Chicago based on academic excellence and it seems very unlikely that her college test scores weren't high enough that she would have been "discouraged from applying to Harvard" (as TeamObama tried to imply during the 2007-2008 campaign).

I'm definitely all for everyone paying their fair share of taxes. But there needs to be a COMPLETE OVERHAUL AND STREAMLINING of the tax structure. Even those like Buffet have admitted that implementing the Buffet Rule would only ADD YET ANOTHER layer of onerous paperwork and additional staffing and processing costs!!

Aside from Romney being a twit and Obama being a pinwheel, neither one relates all that well with the typical middle class working family. Just think of all the GOOD WORKS which could be accomplished with all that WASTED CAMPAIGN MONEY.

There was no reason for an invasion; they provided a buffer against Iran, and an opposite (similar to Pakistan and India) to distract them. Now the Iranians can take control of Iraq easily. We could have simply blockaded Iraq, or made a smaller military commitment than we did. But we threw away any logic and made a reckless invasion. "To promote democracy." It's getting better now, but it takes a long time for the effects of a depression to subside. You know what the unemployment was during the Great Depression? 25 percent. Sure, everything would be wonderful if everyone could find jobs. But, that's not the way reality works, and that's why he has unemployment benefit extensions. I suppose you want to blame him for the economic tumble too, right?

Perhaps going through 13 years of school to become a physician, then continuing on to start an Anesthesia practice and run the business, while practicing medicine counts? Becoming successful is not easy, and some work harder than others to get there. I don't waste time at luncheons, however I do spend 20 weeks a year traveling with my family. Even with 20 weeks off, I still earn in the 99.5th percentile. But, that's a product of spending the first 30 some years of my life to get there.

Your ears must be plugged. The Ryan Plan cuts taxes on the wealthy. Romney, Santorum and Gingrich all have proposed tax cuts, including cuts to "unearned income" rates and reductions in the top tax rates. The Cain "999" plan was a huge tax cut for the rich (and a tax hike on the working poor, but they don't count in Republican circles). And Ron Paul wants to eliminate income tax altogether, that has to count as a "tax cut".

But you're right about not wanting to raise taxes, that's one area they differ from Reagan and Bush Sr. They talk a good game about "balancing the budget", but they'd never increase the tax revenues enough to ever do that.

Gosh, now I feel bad. I never had any student loans to pay for my college degree, both of them. My parents and I recognized that "student aid" even back in the sixties really meant "debt aid." My parents and I had saved pennies to buy Savings Bonds that paid for my first degree. My dad made $100 per week working as a dental technician and could not contribute very much to the process; hence, the pennies.I also worked in a grocery store to help with tuition and pay for my incidentals.

For my second degree, my wife and I both worked our backsides off: she worked fulltime, I worked more than 30 hours a week, and we paid for 2 degree programs simultaneously.

Nothing was handed to either one of us and we both want to keep what we have earned to pay for our retirement, not so that a mother of 6 by 11 different unknown fathers can draw down welfare and do drugs while her mother raises the grandchildren alone.

Working for a living is honorable. When our country got away from this and people started feeling like Uncle Sugar had to pay for everything, we got way too far off in the weeds. You say you lived there for 13 years, didn't you make any friends? The average income for residents of the Island is in the neighborhood of $160,000 annually, and that isn't a large income. I don't know where you get "high end Snobs" from, but there are families of four on Mercer Island that are making $160k a year and they are struggling to make ends meet. I think anyone reading my comments with a family of four; will tell you that earning $160k a year is no great shakes.

They are struggling to save enough money to send their kids to universities commensurate with their highschool grades. They are two income households, with one good car and one clunker. These people don't think they are better then anyone else, they don't have time for that foolishness. What I find absolutely ironic is that the guy who says he wants to end loopholes and that he doesn't need any sure spent a lot of time and trouble (or his accountant did) to find every one he could. Some people sure have a funny idea of "fairness" and "equality". I think the very technical definition of equality would be that everyone would pay the same, as a percentage. How much more "equal" can you get than "equal"? Fairness? It's not entirely fair that I have to work for my money and others don't. It's also not fair that I have to pay my bills and others don't. As for the fact that the President and Mrs. Obama's girls go to Sidwell Friends Private School, that's no biggie. If you're a politician in D.C. and your family lives there full-time, you send your kid/s to a private school. It doesn't matter if you're Republican or Democrat. And the taxpayers don't foot that bill. In the president's case, we, the taxpayers may be paying him a salary, but the money for his daughter's schooling comes out of his salaried pocket, not out of yours or mine.

Did you also know that President Obama and family pay for their own food, dry cleaning, and personal expenses that the rest of us also have to pay for? The food they have in their own kitchen is purchased with their own money; they don't have an expense account for food, or for other private things like dry cleaning. Now they probably don't do the grocery shopping or drop things off at the cleaners, but they do pay the bill for those things.

And the reason for that is clear - they get certain tax breaks because they're rich, so they feel an obligation to pay it forward, for lack of a better comparison.

We don't have a huge spending problem. The government has downsized since the end of the Iraq war. We've had cuts upon cuts. Our government is smaller now than the Bush years.

We are a huge 1st world nation. The government leads in weapons and defense. Our infastructures are crumbling. We need funds to keep up the maintenance on it.

You can't have maintenance and upkeep without funding. The middle class paid for most all of it. Thanks to the previous policies, there is no middle class to milk anymore. False. If we were to assume that there are 3 million millionaires in the US, and we were to take $1 million from each of them every year, we would raise approximately $3 trillion a year. If we were to tax them at the more economical rate of 24%, we would raise approximately $720 billion, over half of the deficit. If we were to tax the top tenth of Americans at 100%, we would most likely place a $1 or 2 trillion surplus. Sorry mate, but your rant doesn't meet the math test.

And we DO have a taxation problem. The Bush tax cuts cost us $3.8 trillion a year and have done nothing to help us. If we were to repeal them now, we would slash deficits significantly. Add about $2.3 trillion in cuts, and we would have deficits at less than 3% of GDP in a few years.

Obama had a super majority with the White House, Congress and House controlled by Democrats. He could have passed any law! He did not need a single republican vote for any bill to pass. He could have promoted jobs and worked to strengthen the economy yet he passed a horrific and still undefined health care program that was so bad that he couldn't get his own party to vote for it. He had to buy their votes with huge tax cuts and wheelbarrows full of money for their states. The measure passed only after the congress used an extremely rare tactic. I am glad that the President is getting a chance to get out of Washington. It has been such a long time since he has been able to get out of town. In his speeches I wish that he would explain why the stimulus did not improve unemployment as his administration had predicted, I want him to explain how the federal deficit for 2012 is not going to exceed 229.27 billion dollars as he unconditionally promised the American people even though his own White House is predicting that the deficit will exceed what the President promised by a factor of more than 5. I want him to explain how we are going to pay back all of the money that we owe and how much it is going to end up costing the tax payers.

Where to begin?! When the 1% makes a zillion and pay only an effective tax rate of 15%, uh yeah, it still comes out to a lot because they made a zillion. The 47% who are not paying income taxes are paying other taxes, but if we ended all the income tax write-offs, especially favoritism for one group and capital gains, why don't you support this?

First of all, the president's own office of management and budget claims that if he got the tax hikes he wanted for the 'purpose of reducing debt/deficit (and at this point I use both words because he uses both interchangably, relying on the fact that the majority of the dumb masses have no clue as to the difference) , if he were to again add the tax he wants to have imposed, that it would make up roughly 1/10th of 1 percent of the shortfall.

Secondly, when asked by Charlie Gibson in a 2008 presidential debate about the clear fact and data showing that every time capital gains go up revenue to the treasury goes down - our future commander in thief actually dismissed that point and went on to bang the drum about 'fairness'. Wow.. Purposely losing revenue to the treasury.. in order to punish people who have simply mastered disciplines and lived the American dream ... because I guess that's what you do in this class warfare battle... Just wow.

I actually voted for the man because I simply could not give the Republican party a pass on what they allowed Geo. Bush to do with his term, or to the dignity of the office. I thought that when he spoke of hope and change he meant a Return to a Constitutional form of government. I was wrong. You must live in a another world. Since mid 2008, when the bottom fell out, we've managed to crawl back to respectability. If we could get that blasted Party of No off of their lazy asses, we could be much farther ahead. We'll just have to vote them out in Nov. and do it ourselves.

It would not surprise me if Obama is elected for another term. Over 50% of our nation is now on the govt tit and growing every day. Obama does not believe Americans deserve a fair shot. He believes they deserve a fair handout. The fact is there are not nearly enough 1%ers to make this happen even if we taxed them 100%.

With regards to Buffet, it is well known his companies owe $1,000,000,000 in unpaid back taxes, so I think we would all appreciate it if he would shut up about not minding more taxes and pay the ones he ALREADY owes. A billion is not chump change!

With regards to Obama he gives each of his children $24,000 tax free. For a man who promotes tax fairness why would he do this?

After almost 4 years, we still have about 2 million fewer people working than when he took office. Our economic growth is virtually nil... almost 3 years after the 'great recession' ended (mid-2009)
And... Obama is pretty much ignored when it comes to making decisions by world leaders - the recent Americas Summit is a prime example.
