Trumps host birthday bash for Ann Romney (with celebrity cake)

PITTSBURGH, PA -- High above Fifth Avenue this afternoon, some 400 guests will dine on birthday cake prepared by a celebrity chef and toast the 63rd birthday of Ann Romney at a fundraising event hosted by Donald and Melania Trump.

The party is expected to raise more than $600,000 for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.

The fundraiser/birthday party will be hosted by Melania Trump, and tickets for the event ranged in price from $1,000 to $2,500. When the 200 person capacity for the Trumps' private home on the 66th floor of Trump Tower was reached within 48 hours of tickets going on sale, the event was broken into two separate shifts to accommodate a total of more than 400 guests across a three-hour event, according to Trump spokesman Michael Cohen.

On the menu at the event, according to Cohen: a special birthday cake prepared by celebrity chef Buddy Valastro, of the TV show "Cake Boss."

The presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney will not attend the Trump fundraiser today, and will instead campaign in Pennsylvania and attend a separate fundraiser in Harrisburg, PA this afternoon.

Both fundraising events are closed to the press.

Now let's take a look at the first lady... telling school children they must eat carrots. Michelle is the epitome of physical prowess with her size 20 buttress while demanding children eating school lunches all eat tasteless, crap dished out from the bowels of government kitchens.

I have disliked this demanding fake woman since the first time she said that she was proud of this country for the first time in her entire adult life. Whatta woman... hating this country until her husband was running for president. This is the pinnacle of fakeness... because she still hates this country. Her comments since then suggest nothing more than pure disdain. Kudos liberals for holding this America hating woman to such high esteem.

As your defamatory rhetoric against every republican candidate says a lot about you. The trouble with your perception is my remarks aren't defamatory. They are truth. Just like a typical liberal Mamma, you don't accept truth as anything but hate speech when coming from a conservative.

You are making false accusations against her and denigrating her efforts to help some people get healthy, that's in everybody's interest.

No. This is your perception. I don't agree with anyone holding a seat of power to tell people what they must eat, or not eat to be healthy, especially children. It's not in the interest of freedom, nor in the nature of what people actually believe. You have no idea what has changed in school lunchrooms across this country... especially those receiving federal funding. I do know, first hand.

Making such statements does nothing to make you look good, they are just your hateful opinions, which of course you are entitled too, but they are not facts....yours or anyone else.

Well, that's her prerogative. But anyone posting negative comments toward another should be expected and accepted as just one persons opinion. Politics often brings out a passion in people and regardless of the side a person stands, I applaud their willingness to voice their opinions. Because people sit on different sides of the political aisle there will always be differing opinions. Just show you have a 'tough skin' and continue to voice your thoughts.

leftliberalliars - The liberals are relying too much on Obama's last election performance in their judgement. The one big difference between 2008 and now is Obama's record. In 2008 he didn't have one. In 2012 he still doesn't have one... or a good one to speak of. He definitely can't run on his record... he will run on trying to destroy Romney... and that doesn't sit well with the American voters. Take a look at what happened to Newt... his negative campaigning cost him a chance for the nomination. Liberals will say something different, but they didn't have skin in the game... so they just spew anything they want. Newt lost on negative campaigning and his overall negatives. The same will be true of Obama. The liberals haven't figured that out yet... nor will they.

Brian, I'm sure this will come as a huge shock to you, but neither Michelle Obama nor any other First Lady has the power or the authority to tell any school district in the country what they must serve, whether they receive federal funding or not, or to tell any child attending those schools what they must eat. When you make these sort of outrageous claims, you're really not doing your side any favors.

But hey, just for the hell of it, I just went online to see what was on the lunch menu at my old middle school today and found:

Two Tacos w/Cheese,Lettuce, Tomatoes, & Salsa,

Quesadilla Pizza, Turkey,Bacon, & Cheddar Wrap,

Old-Fashioned Navy Bean Soup,

Mexican Salad/Fixings Bar,

Choice of Fruit or Juice, Choice of Milk,

Pudding w/Whipped Topping

Oh, and just in case that's not enough choices, at the bottom it says "Alternate Menu Choices Available Daily: Hamburger, Cheeseburger,Hot Dog, PB & J Sandwich, w/Cheese, Yogurt or Sunflower Seeds, Assorted Varieties of Canned Fruit, Fresh Fruit & 100% Fruit Juice"

Note, not a single carrot anywhere in sight. But by all means, please feel free to now try to claim that Michelle Obama is forcing kids to eat yogurt and sunflower seeds - it'll be about as believable as anything else you've posted so far....

Joanne... Think what you might about me... It doesn't matter a whit. Reports like these are coming out about regulators and children bringing lunches in from home. From the liberals beloved Huffington Post:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/15/school-lunch-guidelines-p_n_1278803.html

Just one small step at a time:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57365498/school-lunches-to-get-healthy-revamp/

Now on the onset this article may look benign, but the ramifications will have lasting effects in the way schools will present their lunches to kids... all in the name of healthy living. It's a trap. Done under the guise of doing good, the government slides into every aspect of our lives. We hardly notice it anymore... because it happens daily and it's commonplace. I object to it strongly! I don't need the government to tell me what to eat, how to eat it and what my kids can eat. For as much as liberals are in full support of this, I don't want government encroaching in my life one more inch. But... I have to concede to defeat because the supporters of government take over have too strong a voice.

But, when men are "ahem" small, they have to try to build themselves up by putting women down who wouldn't give them a 2nd glance; who are totally out of their league. The only thing you need to "concede" is that you lied about the First Lady being able to force children to eat carrots, embellished that lie with a vulgar comment about her physical appearance, and then topped it all off with that whopper about how much she hates America. I suggest you do some research on her and Jill Biden's efforts with Joining Forces on behalf of our troops and their families and the countless number of visits they've made to those families that go unreported by the media, and then get back to us on how much she "hates" America.

First it wasn't a private party. It was held in Wellington Amphitheater. The public was invited. The MC was a morning talk show radio host. It was well publicized. The press was there... but they focused in on the protesters. The Palm Beach Post is as liberal as they come. Palm Beach is a predominantly democratic voter area.

I will agree about the Donald. He does love publicity. Tell me one thing... why does First Read place such importance on writing an article about the Donald? I don't understand the logic... other than a way to get people to respond to stupidity.

Thanks for the honesty. I don't have a problem with either donating money to the candidate of their choice as long as the other side doesn't make a big deal in pointing it out. Is this but another Bevism? guess that makes me a misogynist too. I think Sarah Palin is a twit. Kinda like the toon in framed Roger Rabbit.

Even FOX NOISE'S Roger Ailes thinks Palin is out to lunch; he called her an idiot.

Idiot is a far cry from calling her a Cu*t or a Twa+. The difference between an I and an A changes the meaning of the word Bev. But, you find no problem with a liberal calling a conservative a derogatory name, but let Rush Limbaugh call a paid activist a whore and your panties get in a twist. How many ways can you define hypocrite? There's only one that I know of.

By the way Bev, it's "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"

No little man, you place me on ignore because you can't handle the truth i'm feeding you about yourself. You're a narcissist, and that's how they respond when they're backed into a corner. Or they call someone gay. Last i checked i didn't have the phallic avatar. Jack-a$$!

Bryan,

Why, wasn't it only yesterday BB was calling people who use the ignore feature ignorant & cowards?

You have far more patience then I do with this nut job! In all my years of posting here, I have never seen someone who can contradict themselves in post after post!

If I didn't know better, I would say there are six people sitting in BB's basement passing around the keyboard!

Feisty,

No keyboard passing, but there are definitely six people in BB's parent's basement posting on FR. And we know that BB is a coward. That should comes as surprise to only BB himself.

I know how to hit em. Notice how quickly he went gay on me. Like shooting fish in a barrel with a 12 gauge.

Brianb.......not sure where you are getting your info. But that fund raiser, held Sunday was at a private estate in Palm Beach, on Sunday evening. It was here in a tent on the grounds that he was overheard making his remarks as to what his plans may be.

The Wellington amphitheatre earlier in the day had the Tea Party holding a shindig there between 1 and 5pm.

Half-way through the event, a Hilary Rosen impersonator will pop out of the cake and declare, "Ann Romney's never worked a day in her life," so that Ann can continue to relish her early birthday gift!

You know, this is just a thought.....but it seems to me that if the Romneys really wanted to take advantage of that "early birthday gift" and give some more traction to the narrative that Ann Romney's just another hard-working stay-at-home mom, perhaps having your birthday party on the 66th floor of the Trump Tower and charging upwards of $2000 for a piece of cake isn't exactly the best photo op they could have chosen. I'm sure the campaign could have rounded up a few REAL stay-at-home moms and maybe treated them to a day at a spa or at least a nice lunch or something.

It says a lot about the Romneys that they can't even bother to fake some sincerity for the cameras when they have the chance.

Oh dear.. so this is news? It is no surprise of course. But Romney needs to be careful; with cretins like McCain (you know McCain ?) the biggest loser, the biggest war monger ever and the biggest joke in the Senate promoting Romney and now the House 'cry baby' lined up…. he may have to watch his back more closely than ever.

It has been known for months that Rove and his band of politicos don't really want to win the Oval Office. And it has also been known they want Romney as the candidate because they opine he can’t beat Obama but his 'coattails' will be long enough to return them to power in the Senate and they expect to ‘keep’ the House.

Then they can stall, obfuscate, ridicule and manhandle the squatter in the Oval Office. Then as the third year approaches they (the republicats) will commence impeachment proceedings against Obama (if that is his real name), Holder and a host of others like Napolitano, Panetta and more.

An all-out vendetta which will wipe out the demagogic democats for many years to come. Oh yes, Hillary the inept and rotund Secretary of State, will also be impeached.

Wait for it folks, wait for it.

Sixty sixth floor, eh? I hope Rombot's car could fit in that elevator too. I'm sure it was a classy, seriously classy, one of a kind Trump event in the Trump Towers with Donald Trump and...oh yeah...some guy running for President.

Yes, just the common folk enjoying the fruits of their hard earned labor after a hard day at work...you know...firing people, 'cause that's what both of them like to do.

They probably enjoyed "Golden Opulence Sundaes": 5 scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla and covered in 23 karat edible gold leaf, drizzled with the world's most expensive chocolate, Amedei Porceleana, and covered with chunks of rare Chuao chocolate (harvested from Venezuela's Caribbean coast). This is then suffused with exotic candied fruit from Gay Paree, gold dragets, truffles and marzipan cherries. It's topped with a tiny glass bowl of Grand Passion caviar, an exclusive dessert caviar, made of salt-free American golden caviar, known for it's sparkling golden color. It's sweetened and infused with fresh passion fruit, oranges and Armagnac. The sundae is served in a baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet with an 18K gold spoon, with an additional mother of pearl spoon for the caviar and topped with a gilded sugar flower. You know...like the one you get at Baskin-Robbins; or is that Braums? I always get those confused. Anyway, regular folks with regular eats...classy.

Someone please ask Mrs. Romney why it took her so long to come up with a response to what she characterized as "an attack on her as a stay-at-home moms." Could it be that "an early birthday present" were not her words at all???

Mrs. Romney, you are in way over your head. Your were not "attacked", or anything else for that matter for choosing to be a stay-at-home mom. The clear issue at hand was that you didn't work outside the home while raising children which is much more difficult and much more necessary for the vast majority of mothers in America who don't have a man in their life worth a 1/4 of a billion $$. But you knew this and still you stuck your chin out to get it bashed. Your response, or who ever came up with it, is totally disingenuous. You stayed at home because you could. Besides, we don't even know what qualifications you had at the time that would have allowed you to be gainfully employed (that means get hired).

Happy Birthday Mrs. Romney, but please don't ever try to compare apples and oranges again during this campaign; the vast majority of Americans are smart enough to know the difference. And frankly, your comparison was so way over the top elitist it wasn't funny or relevant. You and your husband are so disconnected and out of touch with reality, and sadly not smart enough to know how to talk-the-talk to real folk. How would you two ever eat if silver spoons disappeared???

Ahhhhh, but it's so easy to take those words and twist, twist, twist and voila, you have a great GOP talking point!

But with the beauty of 24/7 recordings, we now also have video of Mr Romney, saying all mothers, with children over 2, SHOULD have to get JOBS! He would rather spend more providing these mothers with daycare, but they MUST go out and work!

Recalling his effort as governor to increase the amount of time women on welfare in Massachusetts were required to work, Romney noted that some had considered his proposal "heartless," but he argued that the women would be better off having "the dignity of work" -- a suggestion Ann Romney would likely take issue with.

"I wanted to increase the work requirement," said Romney. "I said, for instance, that even if you have a child 2 years of age, you need to go to work. And people said, 'Well that's heartless.' And I said, 'No, no, I'm willing to spend more giving day care to allow those parents to go back to work. It'll cost the state more providing that daycare, but I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.'
