NAPLES, Fla. – When former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum suspended his presidential campaign last Monday, Mitt Romney found himself with a bit of a spring break on his calendar. He's spending the weekend portion of it in South Florida, raking in cash for the general election.
Two top Romney donors are hosting fundraising events for the presumptive Republican nominee on the west and east coasts of the Sunshine State Sunday, which one Romney fundraiser told the Palm Beach Post could draw in more than $2 million dollars in total for the campaign's new "Victory" fund – a joint account with the Republican National Committee.
In Naples on Sunday afternoon, Romney and his wife Ann attended an afternoon reception at the home of Francis Rooney, a former ambassador to the Vatican, who gave the $2,500 maximum allowable donation to Romney's primary campaign last June. His holding company followed that check with two separate half-million dollar donations to pro-Romney Super PAC, Restore Our Future.
Romney fundraising events are closed to the press, but reporters on the street outside Rooney's $14-million mansion watched a parade of Mercedes, Porsches and at least one Maserati pulling up to be valet-parked at the event – at which Romney gave remarks and left after an hour.
On Sunday evening, the Romneys were scheduled to dine at the Palm Beach home of Darlene and Gerald Jordan, each uber-donors to Republican organizations and candidates, particularly in Massachusetts and here in Florida. In 2010, Darlene Jordan wrote checks for $40,400 to the Rubio Victory Committee and for $15,000 to the Massachusetts Republican party.
The Jordans, who will host the Romneys and their donors outside at their 21,000 square-foot waterfront home, also gave $100,000 to Restore our Future last summer, after giving the maximum allowed amount to Romney's campaign in April.
Romney and other active candidates were not the only recipients of the Jordans' generosity. Federal election records also show that two months after former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty suspended his campaign, the couple each donated $1,250 dollars to help retire his debt.

When he was elected Gov. of Mass he took an oath to uphold the law with regard to womens rights in a liberal, pro-abortion state. Which he did, however, when it became necessary to sign in NEW legislation regarding embryonic research or to redefine CONCEPTION . . . Mitt would not. My neighbors had a "Obama 2008"sign up during the last election. Now they have a "Mitt Romney 2012" sign up. PA is going to be RED this year! Central PA (A swing county) is already leaning for Romney.

They did a fact check on that made up percentage of those that don't pay taxes. Of the entire population of eligible workers, those over the age of 18, 86% pay income tax, the remaining 14% are either unemployed, make below $12000 a year or don't work because they live off dividends of the millions of stocks they own, therefore they don't pay income tax, they pay a different tax. The truth is it is virtually impossible to not pay tax, unless you work for cash, don't own anything, never buy anything and live out of a vending machine.
What is true is that the shrinking middle class pay the highest percentage of their money to taxes. Those that make alot usually pay half the percentage amount as an average middle class worker. Romney is proof of that, he pays 13%, Obama pays 20%, i'm about 30%. so we can either tax the wealthy, who can afford it, tax the poor, which would just create more homeless and unemployed or tax the middle class, which would create more lower class. I don't expect anyone to give an intelligent response.

A. Ignore the three or four fundraisers Obama does a night- three or four times a week, where the price of admission is $38,500 a person, and
B. focus on Romney's fundraising.
Now, here's the problem- Romney has more money in the bank. The outside groups supporting him have raised FAR more, thus, have far more, money in the bank, so, well, if you want to calculate by dollar votes, Obama is losing. Big time. My understanding is that in February, Obama spent 158% of what he brought in.

Bought and put on powersteering unit for old farts merc so he could drive to work in feb. Gave an unemployed teacher a ride to library every day for 5 months to use comp for job search, and helped him get a job. Created a new national park 2 yrears ago, volunteer doing archeology and documentation on sites history, just did GPS work this week, documented migration of Dakota Indians to Mn River area from 1660 to present........am I keeping busy enough for you little goober bobbie? Only a right-winger who operates on emotions instead of facts would project the "politics of envy" on those who merely want fairness, especially in our tax code. What's the point of education, hard work, and getting a real job (assuming a real job is available) if you pay a higher tax rate than someone who makes their money from capital gains? Favoritism of a certain sector is not incentive for others.
No one wants debt like Greece, that's why we should learn lessons from Greece and make sure everyone is paying their damn taxes, especailly the rich -- along with cuts in spending. Also, austerity in Greece has caused unemployment to skyrocket, so "starve the beast" is a bad idea.

TP, it takes 7 years to get a permit to drill. So unless Obama has been in office for 7 years your statement would be correct. Also more drilling has been on PRIVATE land, not FEDERAL land. You might want to get your information from another source. Thank you for the laugh......

I seem to recall $4 plus a gallon gas a few years back during Bush's time in office. I don't recall the Right or their 24/7 propaganda outlet, Faux News blaming Bush for the price increase. As a matter of fact, they went out of their way to explain why it was not Bush's fault.
Gas prices are like the weather, everyone bitches about it but no one can do anything to alter them. If you recall the first, really bad gas embargo back in the early Seventies occurred when a Republican was in office. You are not interested in being fair or objective, merely scoring points against Obama.

I presume you are familiar with the Warren Buffett quote regarding "class warfare"? It kind of sums it all up. These people hate Obama and government in general so much that they actually pray for the failure of our domestic auto industry, any form on new technology to support Green Energy (which makes you a pansy) or any other industry that receives some form of support from government. Well, except oil subsidies for Big Oil, that's somehow OK.
BTW...as a follow up on that last post...if Obama goes ahead and attacks Iran and gas goes thru the roof, he's reckless and irresponsible. As for Robert Byrd, the GOP has been trying to make hay out of that for many decades now, as if by naming 1 or 2 people with a questionable past, it proved your argument. You always trot this little number out as if it were some great revelation which would make your case. Byrd was a member of the Klan at a time when it was pretty much a done thing, in his neck of the woods. As to whether he engaged in racist acts, I can't say one way or the other. I can tell you that he certainly tried to make up for it in his later years and lived a pretty righteous life overall. I'm more interested in hearing how Mitt Romney's grassroots fund-raising is going. It would be interesting to see the average contribution amount for both candidates. To be sure, President Obama has some big dollar contributions, but not like Mitt. Not like Mitt.
Of course, I'm most interested to see who contributes to the SuperPACs, and how much, but that is a much more difficult piece of info to get.
