Mitt Romney rakes in cash during spring break

 

 

NAPLES, Fla. – When former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum suspended his presidential campaign last Monday, Mitt Romney found himself with a bit of a spring break on his calendar. He's spending the weekend portion of it in South Florida, raking in cash for the general election.

Two top Romney donors are hosting fundraising events for the presumptive Republican nominee on the west and east coasts of the Sunshine State Sunday, which one Romney fundraiser told the Palm Beach Post could draw in more than $2 million dollars in total for the campaign's new "Victory" fund – a joint account with the Republican National Committee. 

In Naples on Sunday afternoon, Romney and his wife Ann attended an afternoon reception at the home of Francis Rooney, a former ambassador to the Vatican, who gave the $2,500 maximum allowable donation to Romney's primary campaign last June. His holding company followed that check with two separate half-million dollar donations to pro-Romney Super PAC, Restore Our Future. 


Romney fundraising events are closed to the press, but reporters on the street outside Rooney's $14-million mansion watched a parade of Mercedes, Porsches and at least one Maserati pulling up to be valet-parked at the event – at which Romney gave remarks and left after an hour.

On Sunday evening, the Romneys were scheduled to dine at the Palm Beach home of Darlene and Gerald Jordan, each uber-donors to Republican organizations and candidates, particularly in Massachusetts and here in Florida. In 2010, Darlene Jordan wrote checks for $40,400 to the Rubio Victory Committee and for $15,000 to the Massachusetts Republican party.

The Jordans, who will host the Romneys and their donors outside at their 21,000 square-foot waterfront home, also gave $100,000 to Restore our Future last summer, after giving the maximum allowed amount to Romney's campaign in April.

Romney and other active candidates were not the only recipients of the Jordans' generosity. Federal election records also show that two months after former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty suspended his campaign, the couple each donated $1,250 dollars to help retire his debt.

          What would Romney campaign film look like after governing a State, It would be a commercial for the top 1% and the elite? Because other then signing a health care bill, everything else in the state went down, jobs for one.

          Gov. Romney worked in the private sector and he did a great job. But when he moved that experience to government, he had one of the lowest job creation rates in the country. Massachusetts was 47th in the nation in job growth while Romney was in office.

          His tax plan proves this it took more money from the poor and lower middle class and gives more tax breaks to the top 1%

          Looks like the top 1% (Wall Street, Big Banks, the Oil Companies, Insurance Companies and Pharmaceutical Companies) got their candidate; Romney got the blessing from these entities

            let’s be clear, this country is in disarray, first off financially we are out of control and I mean we !!! Do in large part to gov't intrusion into the routine functioning of the private sector. I might add a system that has created a wonderful lifestyle attainable by all Americans that have the intestinal fortitude to just reach out and make it their own. Conversely they work for us we designated them to represent us. We are held accountable for what they do. i.e. Nearly 16 trillion dollars of indebtedness. If it is your goal to reverse this trend of economic wreck less abandon then you must be mindfully aware of who is delegated with the responsibility of responding to the needs of our nation.

            Getting America to come around and realize we have a debt/deficit problem is urgently needed.             Government waste and plunder and immoral spending is so prolific that we will most likely, short of some genuine leadership, never. EVER.. again see the light of day. And yet somehow... our government is telling us .....that they can spend money on literally ANY thing they want... literally any vote-buying scheme they can think of.. no matter how much or how little revenue they have coming in.... no matter how economically ridiculous it is.. and the top 10% of wage earners who are paying over 60% of all taxes collected (IRS Stats, not mine) are just expected to pony up and pay for their completely irresponsible madness?

            I believe we need to engage in some serious discussion about the thought process that corporations are bad. The same goes for the rich.

            We need to step back approximately 80 years to formulate a parallel. To some of you, that's ancient history... but the lesson is there.

            Do any of you know why it was deemed acceptable for the slaughter of 6 million jews in Germany and why the common man didn't raise an eyebrow when they knew of the death camps and what was going on? It wasn't secret. Why the Jews? Why Christians? How come no one else? Was it religious in nature? Nope. The common man didn't hate the Jews because of their religion. They didn't hate the Jews because of their heritage or lineage.

            Do ANY of you know why the Jews were hated so much that 6 million of them were executed?

            If you don't, I will tell you.

            The common man was told that the Jewish people controlled the money and the Jews were all very rich. The propaganda was laid on so thick and heavy that everyone believed it. The Germans hated the Jews because they just knew that all the money was controlled by the Jewish people. It was the ultimate class envy and we are starting to repeat it at the hand of the liberals... Not in the exact same way where the Jews are targeted... but rich people in general and definitely corporations!

            All this class envy and corporate bashing will lead to the exact same ends. People are being fed propaganda and this corporate hatred will lead to the destruction of the corporations in this country. If you think the job situation is bad NOW... keep on working to destroy the corporations...

            You can make up all the reasons in the world for bashing corporations... if you can't see the parallel with what's coming out today as it did in the 1930's then I recommend a change in antenna's.

            You tell me what will be the end result if our country uprises against corporations? Take a look at what's happening on Wall Street today... it's only the beginning of trouble to come. The blame lays squarely at the feet of politicians in Washington. ALL of them... not only one side.

                                          It is really amusing that so many people are jealous of Romney's wealth. That "envy and jealousy" are one of the seven deadlies!! In my mind, I'd much rather have a guy in office that has been successful in his life .... that knows how to run a successful enterprise and knows how to balance a budget. Romney is truly a great business man. Obama, on the other hand, never had a biz, never ran a biz and it shows with the way the economy is tanking, the unemployment is at historic highs, the dollar is devaluating because Obama has out debt up over $6 trillion and has no concept of what to do to balance the US budget. Instead, he just prints money and this will bring inevitable inflation ..... As for me, I'll take that guy who has proved that he knows how to run a biz, an economy, and create jobs and wealth. Obama has ruined the middle class .... 4 more years and there will be no more middle class.
