Bachmann steps closer to endorsing Romney

Appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday morning, Rep. Michele Bachmann said she is “seriously looking into” endorsing presidential candidate Mitt Romney.  The remarks are the closest the former GOP presidential candidate and Minnesota congresswoman has come to making an endorsement since dropping out of the race on Jan. 4.

Citing the decision by Romney’s chief rival – former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum – to suspend his campaign last Tuesday, Bachmann said there is a “uniting and pulling together around our eventual nominee.”

“I have said that I want my voice to be one of uniting our party, the independents, the main stream, the conservatives, evangelicals, the tea party movement,” Bachmann continued, adding, “I’m waiting for our party to come together and help in that process.”

Bachmann’s ecumenical view was not as pronounced during her own run for the GOP nomination, which was marked by frequent shots at Romney over the health care program he launched in Massachusetts in 2006.

Sunday morning, jousting with New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Bachmann called Romney “smart” on job creation.

“Mitt Romney also understands how to turn around companies," she said. "The United States government needs to have a turnaround person who knows how to be successful."

Underlying the back-and-forth was the controversy that stoked hours of cable news coverage this week, when a Democratic strategist suggested that Romney’s wife, Ann, was unqualified to advise her husband on the economic struggles facing women because she had “never worked a day in her life.”

Bachmann called the remarks by the strategist, Hilary Rosen, “shocking and insulting.”

“When 92-percent of the people under Barack Obama’s failed economic policies are women who’ve lost jobs, that’s an unbelievably shocking number,” Bachmann added, reviving a statistic Romney himself used last week, which prompted a slew of fact check pieces.

(The statistic also came under fire minutes earlier on the broadcast, during an interview with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who called it “ridiculous and deeply misleading.”)

Facts, figures, and controversies aside, the exchange this morning seemed to underscore the degree to which both Republicans and Democrats view women’s votes as crucial in the upcoming general election.

“This election is not going to be about Ann Romney or Hillary’s remarks,” Gillibrand said.  “What this election is going to be about is which candidate fights for America’s women.”

Bachmann didn't immediately respond but when she did, she said, "One thing that women are saying is that Mitt Romney is an extremely smart guy. He's been successful in creating jobs in the private economy, and that's something that Barack Obama has not been able to do."

Michelle should endorse Romney. I'm sure she agree with this statement he made just last January.

“I wanted to increase the work requirement,” said Romney in New Hampshire. “I said, for instance, that even if you have a child 2 years of age, you need to go to work. And people said, ‘Well that’s heartless.’ And I said, ‘No, no, I’m willing to spend more giving day care to allow those parents to go back to work. It’ll cost the state more providing that daycare, but I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.’

The Right is getting exactly what it deserves. These self- rigtheous, carnal christains have been used by satan to alienate any resonable CHRISTAIN republican nominee. Now they are stuck with an old eccentric or a leader whose spiritual guidance is a counterfeit of the HOLY SPIRIT.In order to attempt to bring down Obama ,their choice is clear.Put their Faith in SATAN because this is where they believe ROMNEY his spiritual guidance and power or trust GOD through Obama.Deny JESUS as LORD and SAVIOR is a clear mark of the beast and this is a trademark of mormonism. This result is because the religious leaders of the Right refused to speakup. Now they must sit and watch as many of their follower receive this mark. Bachmann ,Palin and Beck converted many, when are they going to get their mark?

Just a short statement: Who really cares what this bat-sh*t crazy lady from Minnesota has to say about anything?

How about she follows Willards wifes lead and goes home to take care of her kids instead of being a working mom? (or does going home mean she actually has to do something?)

Obama's War on Women – 8 Miles from the White House

A book by a senior Indian Islamic scholar that recently prompted international outrage for directing Muslim husbands on how to properly beat and control their wives is on sale at the largest Islamic bookstore in the Washington D.C. area, just a twenty minute drive from the White House, all while the Obama campaign proclaims that Republicans are waging a “war on women” by promoting pro-life, pro-family policies, and as DCCC media strategist Hilary Rosen continues to attack Ann Romney for her decision to stay at home and raise her five sons.

The book in question is “A Gift For the Muslim Couple” by Ashraf Ali Thanvi that directs a Muslim husband “it might be necessary to restrain her [wife] with strength or even threaten her,” adding that he may scold his wife, “beat by hand or stick,” withhold money from her or “pull (her) by the ears,” but should “refrain from beating her excessively.”

Thanvi’s book was recently in the news when the Toronto Sun discovered the book being sold at a prominent Islamic bookstore in Toronto, prompting criticism from all corners of Canadian politics and society. The story was picked up elsewhere by the international press.

So will the Obama administration ask its Muslim “interfaith outreach partners” why such a vile volume is being sold across the Potomac River at the Halalco Bookstore and Supermarket in Falls Church, Virginia – just eight miles from the White House? I purchased a copy in the family section of Halalco on a trip to DC two weeks ago, and the book can be found available for purchase on the Halalco website.

This isn’t Halalco’s first dance with controversy, however.

Back in June 2010, my colleague CBN national security and counterterrorism reporter Erick Stakelbeck discovered the bookstore featured a large display of audio CDs and DVDs of Al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki for sale just one day after Awlaki issued a fatwa calling for the killing of American civilians.

Initially, the store’s management refused to speak with Stakelbeck, telling him to come back the following day to speak to the owner. When he returned, the Awlaki display had magically vanished. While the owner stated that the Awlaki materials were “a good seller”, he couldn’t explain why other materials promoting violent jihad, products by other radical Islamic preachers, and even copies of the notorious anti-Jewish tract, “Protocols of the Elders of Zion”, were being sold.

So if the Obama campaign and the Democratic Party want to find a real “war on women”, they should ask their Muslim outreach partners about products pushing Islam’s “war with women” being sold at the Halalco Bookstore right around the corner from the Dar al-Hijrah mosque and not far from the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Center, led by Obama Shariah czar Mohamed Majid.

WOW! Some guy writes a book that's sold in DC so Obama is responsible for it.

But of course, if he says something, he's messing with the free market.

Reasonable people see past the tactics and the type of blogger who just posts right wing spam but never sticks around long enough to defend their posts.

Whether she endorses Romney or not "Who gives a a damn???" she's a loser. She ran for the nomination and couldn't even get past the first several primaries. Have you read some of the Minnesotan responses in this discussion? Some of her own constituents wonder why this shrill, irrelevant, loud-mouth still gets "air-time"? Why does the media waste their resources on "has-beens" & "near-do-wells" like her and Sarah Palin. I turn the channel, stop watching "Today" or walk out of the room any time these two ever speak.

My god! When will the Republican Party wake up and find some knowledgeable individuals to speak on their behalf instead of these clowns that are giving their party the "kiss of death"???

Seeing how tight Romney is with his money he now could use the freindship of Bachman to get him a discount at Bachman's husband dancing school. The Bachmans are going to need help after they lose all the government grants they get when she gets kicked out of office in November

As an independent voter, I see Romney taking a beating especially if Michele Bachman starts endorsing him, and who knows, maybe his running mate. That would be a death blow to his campaign. Bachman is no more in touch with working women than Anne Romney.

Bachmann is unable to share a conference table, SHUT UP, get off her talking points or tell the truth on ANY subject. Most media anchors know this about her so one has to ask, what the hell is a show like Meet the Press doing with her for a Guest. If Gregory is this desperate for guests or what he hopes might help raise the ratings, he needs to be replaced-----yesterday!!! Meanwhile, let's all look for an intelligent Sunday morning show.
