Gingrich says he wouldn't serve in Romney cabinet

DOVER, DE -- Given the opportunity to work in Mitt Romney’s cabinet, Newt Gingrich says he would pass.

Asked by a radio host inside a small diner whether he would work for a Romney administration if given the opportunity, Gingrich answered “probably not” but “not because I am opposed to Mitt.”

“Look, if the choice does end up being Romney versus Obama, I can be very, very enthusiastic for Romney, that is a huge choice. But I had a very good life doing a lot of fun things,” the former House speaker said. “I am very happy to be an adviser. I did a lot of that in the Bush administration both on health care and national security.”

Romney seems to have all but sealed the nomination – he still has not reached the 1,144 delegate count threshold – but Gingrich says he has more explaining to do.

“I’m making the case for a very ideas-oriented, solutions-oriented kind of conservatism, and I think Romney is going to have to explain a lot more of what he would actually do as president,” he said.

Gingrich also leveled sharp charges toward President Obama as well at the Hollywood Diner, where he was interviewed on Elliott in the Morning radio show.

“The thing that Obama does that’s fascinating is,” Gingrich said. “On one hand he has all the instincts of a Chicago machine politician. On the other hand he has all the fantasies of a good college faculty member.”

And the media was mixed in as well – an institution Gingrich claims is Obama’s “enabler.”

“The elite news media gets up every morning thinking how do we protect this guy because he’s so wonderful that even if he’s totally destructive he’s destructive in such a fun way that we really like keeping here there, and how do we protect him from himself, because after all it’s not his fault that he’s crippling the economy, bankrupting the nation, and doing a series of weird things, because we know he really means well,” he said.

Gingrich will continue to campaigning heavily in both Delaware, where voters take to the polls on April 24, and North Carolina, votes on May 8, because he believes wins there may get him back in the game – keeping alive the dream of debating Obama one-on-one this fall.

Good morning, Feisty

That's a no brainer! lol

Newt would make a fabulous 'court jester' if the opportunity presented itself!

Indeed, Apart from Father Rick Santorum there is no bigger fool. Noot is a liar. he aid he was dropping out of the campaign and didn't.

Of, course, everyone should know by now Willard "Myth' Romney is a bigger liar. he got busted lying about women's jobs record.

Speaks volumes about the man.

In other words: "If I can't win then I don't want to play".

Any person in my opinion that wants to become president of the U.S. should be doing so because they have a passion about doing everything they possibly can to make this country the best it can be.

If that same person fails to get the opportunity to become the president, he would posses the same passion to serve the country from another position, such as a cabinet position to continue the effort to make America as great as possible.

A perfect recent example is Hillary Clinton. She didn't win the nomination but she accepted a very important position that still allows her to serve the country.

My Bev, you have a problem with Catholics, don't you? Father Rick, come on there girl.

Next you will be saying that the church raises alter boys and Nuns for the sexual gratification of the priests.

Oh, that's right, you did say that didn't you?

Beverly in Chicago

Didn't you know The Catholic Church invented nuns and alter boys for the express purpose of raping them?

A little known fact about the Catholic Church is that it's written down in the Vatican that the Catholic Church intends to take over the US and burn all non-Catholics at the stake before Sharia Law comes to America. :)

Newt already writes scads of bad fiction. He'd make a great press secretary for the Etch A Sketch guy.

I think the nearly 11,000 child victims of abuse by catholic priests who were sexually assaulted between 1950 through 2002 just in the US have a much bigger problem with the church than Bev does, whiney. In Ireland the government estimates that, in some parishes, the number of children who were not molested are in the minority. It would appear that Bev is correct and you are merely trying to ignore some cold, hard, vicious facts. As usual. But that is what makes you such a good Republican, right, whiney?

He would make even a better secretary of state, his knowledge of world history, politics, and past mistakes would make him a much sought after person. Romney now has the nomination, he beat out all others, it is going to be a classic mud slinging, down in the dirt campaign, the democrats will not go easily into the night.

His knowledge of history is about equal to a guy who has watched the History Channel every day has. He probably knows more about UFO's than the Ming dynasty. His skewed sense of history is apparent in the garbage he writes.

    Sailcat,

The issue was not what is happening in Ireland, it was directed at Bev personally.

You don't find issue with her run-away comments from out in righgt field?

I guess Bev must be one of those closet Black Muslims, or perhaps just a bigot with a runaway mouth.

I know this is a blow to you massive ego Newt but almost NOBODY can stand you. You're a wanna-be, has been, never was. You're last century's news. You FAILED as a college professor, you FAILED as a historian, you FAILED as speaker, you FAILED as a husband and father and you FAILED as a presidential candidate. Don't you progressive left wing losers ever get the message. How bad does it have to get under the inexperienced teleprompter guru? You people would vote again for the same loser no matter what because you can never see anything except your ego. Get a life and hope for the hope and change you never got. All got was the shaft.

If that were true, they'd be writing about Vice-President Palin this morning. Or at the very least, Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain would still be in this year's race.

I was always under the impression that the news media - on both sides and what little if any is left of the unbiased middle - actually gets up every morning thinking "How do we sensationalize stuff and pounce on gaffes and quotes taken out of context and manufacture conflicts and do anything else that'll help us increase our ratings?"

According to recent studies, the elite media gets up every day trying to handicap one of the most likeable and successful Presidents we have ever had, perhaps to give the Republicans a fighting chance?

Of all the candidates running for president in 2012, President Barack Obama has received the most negative portrayal in the news media, according to a new study by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism.

Forget enemies like China, North Korea, Iran, etc... Medicare and Social Security will bankrupt this country without any of those countries lifting a finger.

Gingrich has been the favorite target of the media since day one. While tons of cyber ink is spent deriding and derailing his campaign, rarely a drop was ever spent detailing his positions and points.

Of course, Newt brought much of this on himself by stating openly that he would not debate Obama under media moderation and often referring to the elitist media corporates as being the purveyors of designer public opinion.

So, they gave him back as much love as he offered.

Gingrich won't have a cabinet post under a Romney administration for two reasons.

              First Romney won't be president.

Secondly, even if Romney by some miracle did win, Newt wouldn't be asked.

The arrogance of this man is astounding.

Moreimportantly he's willing to own up to beign worng-likeon Libya-and changes his mind -and sayup front why. We don't have enugh of that from Republicans whosee everything as an ideoogical statement..

Newt and cabinets go together especially if the cabinet has food in it.

I'm telling you that the choices on both sides of the aisle are not much of a choice. Odumbo's a liar, and not experienced what so ever and Mitt..... He's not much better. WE American's have got to demand better. This will be the lowest voter turn out in history, mark that on your calendar. Our Gov't. is choking us and itself with greed and unwanted demands that if we don't get someone in there that has a clue, we're all screwed. Our country if it has any chance of surving this mess we'd all better get back into the "Word". That is one truth you can count on and take with you forever.

The voter turnout among registered Republicans is going to be dismal in the general election: voter turnout among that group was at near-record low levels during the GOP's hotly contested...and frankly hilarious...primary race. Now that Etch-A-Sketch is going to be the Republican Party's reluctance choice, you can bet they aren't going to turn out in November and waste their votes on that loser. In contrast, President Obama's supporters are enthusiastic and inspired just as they were in '08. Additionally, the motivated voters the GOP has alienated and insulted along the way (women, minorities, union workers, seniors, etc.) are swelling Obama's ranks and the obvious conclusion becomes that Willard does not stand a shadow of a chance of winning the presidential election.

President Obama by default in November! The GOP is too busy crashing and burning to care anymore.

Newt advised Dumbya on national security? Was that before or after 9/11? My money's on before.

And health care? Did anyone in Bush's administration even acknowledge that health care exists in this country? They certainly didn't have any policies about it.
