In an effort to bolster his sagging poll numbers with female voters, Mitt Romney and his campaign have made this new charge: that women have accounted for 92 percent of the job losses since President Obama took office.
Here’s what Romney said yesterday while campaigning in Delaware:
"There's been some talk about a war on women. The real war on women has been waged by the Obama administration's failure on the economy. Do you know what percentage of job losses during the Obama years of have been casualties of women losing jobs as opposed to men? Do you know how many women, what percent of the job losses were women? 92.3 percent of the job losses during the Obama years have been women who've lost those jobs."
The Romney campaign also held a conference call making this same point. "The number of unemployed women has increased by nearly a million under Barack Obama," surrogate Bay Buchanan said. "Ninety-two percent of the jobs lost since he took office are women."
But First Read contacted the Bureau of Labor Statistics to get to the bottom of this 92 percent charge. The conclusion: The Romney campaign’s figures don’t tell the whole story.
The campaign, in a research document circulated yesterday and on its website, said the numbers come from the “Current Employment Statistics” database at BLS. The document notes that there was a net change of -740,000 nonfarm payroll jobs from January 2009 to March 2012 -- and that women accounted for 683,000 of those jobs.
That is accurate, according to BLS. But Brian Davidson, an economist at BLS, told First Read: “The math they use is correct; the terminology is completely wrong.”
Davidson noted that women actually make up a larger share of the workforce now than they did in Jan. 2008 before the financial meltdown, and since January 2009, it is a statistically insignificant change.
In January 2008, women made up 48.8 percent of the workforce; in January 2009, 49.5 percent; now 49.3 percent.
“Do we still have the same amount of women workers relative to men in the ‘net-change’? Yes we do,” Davidson said.
He added, “It’s like trying to pull a bunny out of a hat, but there’s no bunny inside.”
Independent fact-checkers like Politifact and the Washington Post’s Fact Checker also took on the claim.
Giving the claim a “Mostly False,” Politifact called it “misleading”: “We found that though the numbers are accurate, their reading of them isn’t.”
“One could reasonably argue that January 2009 employment figures are more a result of President George W. Bush’s policies, at least as far as any president can be blamed or credited for private-sector hiring,” Politifact wrote. “We reached out to Gary Steinberg, spokesman for the BLS, for his take on the claim. He pointed out that women’s job losses are high for that period of time because millions of men had already lost their jobs. Women were next. … [I]f you count all those jobs lost beginning in 2007, women account for just 39.7 percent of the total. … There is a small amount of truth to the claim, but it ignores critical facts that would give a different impression.”
The Washington Post’s fact checker, Glenn Kessler, begins this way: “[W]e frown on the somewhat arbitrary dividing line of measuring jobs statistics by presidential terms. It is a common journalistic — and political — metric. But restarting the employment clock from the moment the president takes the oath of office doesn’t tell you much about a his performance, especially since it takes time for the new president’s policies to take effect.”
In fact, he writes, “[T]here is less to this stat than meets the eye. … If you start the data in February, then the overall job loss is just 16,000 jobs—while women lost 484,000 jobs. … How could women lose more jobs than the overall total? It’s a function of the dates one picks.”
And notably: “[T]he picture becomes clearer if you start running the data from the date the recession began — December 2007. With that starting point, the total decline in jobs was just over 5 million, with women accounting for nearly 1.8 million of those jobs. Now look what happens when we just look at the past year, March 2011 to March 2012. Men gained nearly 1.9 million jobs while women gained 635,000 jobs.”
*** CORRECTION *** An earlier version of this post noted that the Romney campaign used numbers from January 2009. The campaign has reached out to First Read and notes that it used January 2009 as a "baseline."
"We use January 2009 as the baseline, which means the first month of losses charged to Obama is the decline in February vs. January," said campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul.
*** UPDATE *** Saul also passes along a letter written by its policy director, Lanhee Chen, to dispute the Politifact story (and "Mostly False" rating) that attempted a fact check on a Tweet by Saul referencing the numbers. Chen accuses Politifact of a "failure to focus on the appropriate context."
"First, why should it matter that men had already lost millions of jobs?" Chen wrote. "Was it now women’s 'turn'? Is this part of the President’s conception of “fairness” that he talks about so frequently? If the data showed the opposite (i.e. that women had been disproportionately hurt prior to the President taking office), we imagine you would have used that as an indictment of Ms. Saul by arguing that the trend was inherent to the recession and predated the President."
Chen concluded, "In summary, your piece confirms Ms. Saul’s claim as accurate, and then relies on a direct contradiction with a prior Politifact piece and incorrect claims from two publicly acknowledged Obama supporters (including one Administration official!) as the basis for rating it “Mostly False.” I hope you will agree that this rating was inappropriate and that the piece does not reflect the journalistic standards to which your organization intends to hold itself. Please retract the piece and issue a correction as soon as possible."

The first day of the general campaign and already Willard wins the 'magic panties on fire award'.
Pay close attention ladies, this is only the beginning of Willard trying to 'crab walk' back his & his parties assault on women...
The RWNJ's actually think we are too stupid to remember - let's prove them WRONG in November!
If Willard were to win... we can all party like it's 1959!
Time for another “Etch-A-Sketch” moment
Actually, we only think that you (personally) are too stupid. As a group, women are VERY intelligent. You are the only one that is not. LOL!
(show me the clown nose, fisty!)
Dennis and Feisty - don't hold your breath, guys - remember, Romney also famously claimed back in February that while President Obama did not actually cause the recession, he made it worse. And despite that claim being immediately debunked by fact-checking organizations and economists everywhere..... :
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/02/fact-check-romney-on-the-recession/
.....he's yet to back down on that one. As the article above indicates:
"When Mr. Romney was first challenged last summer about his charge that Mr. Obama made the economy he inherited worse, he told reporters, “I didn’t say that things are worse.”
He did then, and he has again."
And he's STILL repeating this lie - as recently as last week, he told it again to a group at a campaign appearance about five minutes from here. Of course, when they showed it on the local news, even his own audience looked skeptical, but he just kept right on in that now famous hyperventilating style he has when he gets all worked up and nervous. I often wonder if he even believes this stuff himself, or if he's just gotten so incredulous that people aren't flocking to him as a (dare I say it?) messiah that he'll just throw anything out and hope that it sticks.
Ah, well......desperate times call for desperate measures, eh, Mitt?
Sickness, you are an assclown! Rummey is your asshat! Wear it proudly!
Feisty, I think Mitt has hired the "Bob's" to do the math for him....
Part of the article states:
Davidson noted that women actually make up a larger share of the workforce now than they did in Jan. 2008 before the financial meltdown, and since January 2009, it is a statistically insignificant change.
In January 2008, women made up 48.8 percent of the workforce; in January 2009, 49.5 percent; now 49.3 percent.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another perfect example of how the GOP twists things. I have no doubt that they won't be able to twist us after November.
We all knew that Romney would have to quickly change his image if he is to even attempt to compete with President Obama. This is just the start of the many changes he'll be making in the coming months. What he doesn't understand or doesn't want to believe is that Americans are more intelligent than he believes and we won't be fooled by his chamelonesque images.
It will be nice when Romneycare is sent away for the last time on November 4.
Well, the campaign has started for real hasn't it? I'm a woman, I'm working. I'm sure that a large portion of women in the financial and technology industries, as well as teachers (8000 lost jobs last year in Illinois) are part of that number. But you cannot attribute it to the President. Attribute it to a lousy economy, to downsizing by major companies and local governments, like cities and states.
Oh come on DfromSpencer... It's all in FUN! Feisty LOVES to joke around just like that!
You're not setting a double standard for me here are you?
LOL!
(show me the clown nose, fisty!)
nomoresameo -
"Chameleonesque"? Great word! Except don't chameleons do it to try to stay invisible? :)
Hey, with the primary approaching here in Pennsylvania, this morning on the way to work, I thought I finally spotted a Romney campaign van. Then I got closer and realized it was an actual business named "Weathervane Service Inc".
Then I saw their slogan and realized maybe I was on the right track after all:
"We specialize in fixing what others say can't be fixed".
Hold on, Mitt - help is on the way!
"But you cannot attribute it to the President"
LOL denying reality is tough, isnt it? keep drinking the moonbat koolaid...
Romney, liar, liar...... Surprised? Not me. Without lies he has nothing.
Interesting journalism here. I realize that MSNBC is really just part of the Obama campaign team but they try to hold themselves out as journalists. So they decide to fact check Romney's obvious partisan response to the Obama's campaign to paint the GOP as anti women (so far reasonably successful) because they cant campaign on his actual record of success. I realize that fact checking the Obama's campaign embellishments recording either his or the GOP's pandering to women is asking too much but how could they focus on this while ignoring Obama's clear and utterly ridiculous mathematical inaccuracies as he is campaigning for the Buffet tax rule? A simple fact check of that would have been a nice objective first read attempt to show balance. What about fact checking his inaccuracies regarding the capital gains tax in general all pointed out by the Wall Street Journal yesterday and today. Is there even a shred of balance left in MSNBC or have they really just become part of the reelect Obama campaign. No wonder they are last in the ratings.
Truth in Politics...what a joke. Find me an honest politician, and I'll call you a liar.
JoAnne in PA............"We specialize in fixing what others say can't be fixed".
I hope you jotted down the number and placed a call to them. Maybe they are the only ones who could find the reasonable solution to Romney that no one else is capable of determining.
Good job pointing out more Republican lies.
So I CEO drives a company right over the bridge, and a new CEO is hired and the first day he's on it's his fault the company went over the bridge.
Completely illogical.
For the past couple of years we kept hearing the term "mancession" because the toll on the economy was causing more layoffs of men than women who were being paid less. This was also cast as a big social change with more women in households as the breadwinner.
This was not an isolated op ed. It was stated multiple times over a long period from multiple sources. I'll bet you can even find references to it from Fox News and other conservative sources. I'm pretty sure Limbaugh (who seems to like to pick on women) even jumped on this appealing to his mostly white male audience.
But, now, Romney tells us that it just ain't so. Rewriting history is something many are guilty of, but rewriting history when the ink hasn't yet dried yet will only play into the flip-flop character that changes opinions and facts to match the political wind that Romney will not be able to run away from in the next few months up until November.
Even people I know who don't like Obama are having doubts about voting for Romney because they just don't trust him.
Just like it was Bush's policies that caused the recession? lol. Anyone with a brain knows that it was a real estate bubble that burst causing the ENTIRE WORLD to go into recession, and no matter who was President it was going to happen. You Libs seem to forget it was your party that stressed home ownership even for those that couldn't afford it. Remember it was the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee Barney Frank who famously stated that homeownership was a right?
I wonder when NBC and Politifact are going to fact check Obama's assertion that Bush's policies led to the current recession.
Reporters really should call these things what they are: LIES.
I'm tired of the terms: spin, half-truths, partial truths, incomplete picture.
Enough of the euphamisms already, state what they really are, WHICH IS LIES.
BTW, that goes for when President Obama (or his campaign) tells a whopper too.
I've already decided I can't ever vote for a Republican in the general election. I just can't support a party which is so full of such blatant liers.
If you just look at the last year women only made up 25% of the new hires according to the article
iamstopper: do you know who Graham, Leach and Bliley are/were ? Do you know who authored the Commodity Futures Trading Modernization Act of 2000 ?
The community investment act simply required banks to lend in the communities they were located in. It did not require the banks to approve borrowers whose incomes would not support the loans being offerred. Greed was the primary force behind that fiasco.
Also, aren't there parts of the US Tax code which actually encourage businesses to relocate overseas ? Wouldn't we be better of to encourage job growth, rather than encouraging businesses to move offshore ? Weren't the Bush tax policies supposed to "trickle down" to "create more jobs" ? The lowest tax rates in the last 100 years have NOT produced the most jobs in the last 100 years. We would be much better off if that particular Republican lie were repealed and we would go back to tax rates of 1964 and employment of 1964.
Democrats just can't stand it when Republican's use Democratic tactics to promote their cause. Kind of like Democrats saying that the Affordable Care Act will be paid for...
Ex-Gov Etch-A-Sketch Romoney has stepped into a another pile of do-do. His poll numbers with women has led him to stretch the truth(lie is the more correct term). Can't say I blame him. If I were a politician, I be trotting out as many lies as I could. Unfortunately for Willard its all he's got and the pubbies "war on women" is going to bite him squarely in his ass. Spin Willard spin!
armurray - Do mean just like Bush's Medicare Part D? Does the D stand for "Dumbia"? Just curious!
amused but not distracted,
Exactly! I didn't agree with that one either and still don't. Still waiting on somebody from the Democratic party to propose eliminating it.
DIRP--no the tax code is not designed to encourage people to move jobs offshore but Obama's proposed changes would certainly do that. To encourage corps and foreign corporations to move jobs to the US, you need to reduce the US corporate tax rate which is currently the highest in the world. Obama proposed to increase the US tax on foreign earnings not reduce it which would encourage companies to just move to Canada, Germany or anywhere but the US because no industrialized country taxes foreign earnings. It just makes US companies noncompetitive with their foreign competitors. So far Obama's tax policy has been all about making it harder and more expensive to do business in the US.
Second we do not have the lowest tax rates in the last 100 years. We have the lowest level of revenue as a percentage of GDP in a very long time under a system that is the most progressive ever in terms of actual dollars collected. In order to increase revenue we also need to increase income or economic growth which has been the problem along with temporary social security tax cuts and other tax cuts that have not been targeted for actual investment. Under Reagan, his changes were to encourage investment via the investment tax credit, accelerated depreciation in order to get the real estate industry out of the recession and research and development tax credit. Tax policy was about encouraging investment and GDP growth. Obama's tax policy is to reduce corporate profits, make it harder for investment and companies to do business and campaign against private equity guys who fund start up and growth companies. You do know that Clinton reduced the capital gains tax at the right time helping to fuel the internet investment boom. Obama has it backwards and always has on tax policy.
Democrats have set the tone for misinformation and spin. As if the ACA would ever lower the cost of healthcare or cut the deficit when no other entitlement in history has done so. Or when Obama claimed he would cut the deficit in half in his first term but doubled it instead. Or when Obama said wasting a trillion dollars would keep unemployment under 8%. Or when Obama said he would close Gitmo and bring the troops home. Or when Obama said he would let the Bush tax cuts expire. So when Obama makes up a Republican war on women, he ought to expect it to be challenged.
Obama was a community organizer, funny how you never hear if he was any good at it. It certainly proves community organizing does nothing to prepare someone for the job of being president.
Amazing Red, the REPUBLITARDS just love to collapse your highly rated, and correct observations. :D
The fun is only just beginning. Wizardly math will abound from both sides! Lying with statistics is an art from ALL politicians have mastered.
It is funny, however, to read the posts here and watch zealots on both sides cry foul at the math on one side, and drink up the misleading facts from their own party.
Until both sides wake up and get a grip and stop their useless bickering and finger pointing, this "recession" will never end.
armurray - Why should the (D)'s eliminate Medicare Part D? That's a job for the (R)'s in fact eliminating things is the main part of their ideology and twisted mindset. If only they would eliminate themselves the world would be a better place. Hopefully they will take a leap of faith off the nearest and highest bridge. Just saying and praying.
Romney using 'creative accounting'? Why is this a surprise? Romney is a financial wizard, after all. Exactly how do you thing financial wizards create their 'success'?
...........Rabbit turds.
Democrats now say omen are now 'bunnies you can pull out of a hat', in order to soften the blow this administration has put open the people?
Hey, Democrats, women are not just numbers that you can stammer and stutter away the pain from our job losses.
Neither are men, or any race, or any religion, or any class, or any age.
WE HURT WHEN WE LOSE JOBS!
Mitt is grasping at straws. He has no clue about the general population. He has lived like a king his whole life, grew up with a republican, politician father, is mormon (that is another story) and pretends he can relate to 'average' Americans. He is a liar. If he is elected, women will lose the right to choose, gays will not be able to marry...in other words, we will be taken back to the dark ages. Frightening times. Frightening man.
"Paints an incomplete picture?" Oh for Pete's sake, call it what it is -- A great big fat LIE.
This was on par with John Kyl's lie about Planned Parenthood and 90% of their services being abortions. When lies are this outrageous, why is it that the individual can even remain a Senator or a candidate for POTUS? This lie alone should cause Romney to lose by a landslide. The complacency with this crap is sickening.
Obama/Biden - 2012!
Contrary view here...it sounds like Romney's numbers are mathematically accurate. Sure, he twisted the statistics to say what he wanted to say, but that's how politicians use statistics. Both parties do it, so I don't see what the big deal is in this case. This statement is certainly no more incorrect than some of the vague "jobs created or saved" comments from the Democrats the last few years.
concerned-memphian, Ron-1861300, and your ilk -- NO! That fallacious argument also sickens me, the "if other kids are doing it, why can't I" mentality. President Obama has not told LIES in the number or severity of Mitt Romney. Check it out on PolitiFact -- the president's record is dang good.
Aside from Thou Shalt Not Lie in the Ten Commandments, to say that 92% of jobs lost by 50% of the population, really, seriously?! Even FOX Noise said this was ludicrous. When Romney says such a whopper of a lie, be appalled!
SNL needs to do a skit on this with Romney meeting with other leaders at an international conference, or taking the 3 AM phone call, etc. The US has restored some respect from the rest of the world. OMG, it would be lost again with this Dweeb as POTUS.
TruePatriot,
Obama twists facts just like almost every other politician out there (including Romney). There are a few that don't do this (ex: Ron Paul), but they are few and far between.
Also, I never said I liked the way politicians twist the truth - just that I don't think this particular case is any worse than what I've seen from Obama on numerous occasions.
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "your ilk". I'm a staunch independent that voted for Kerry and Obama. I will likely vote for Romney this time, but I vote based on who I think will do the best job - regardless of which party they are in.
You people blaming the GOP for twisting things are hilarious. Of course all politicians twist things, its what they do. If you believe what they are saying then that says more about you. I've heard Obama flat our lie over and over and over again, but it isn't a problem if it fits your personal agenda right?
Boy them Republincuns sure R good wiff numbers!!!!
They use the same math to conclude their economic solutions... take a bowl, add 10 sets of irrelevant and unrelated data, stir vigorously, line it up however you like, and call it proof to your preconceived notions.
What a bunch of jokers.
By the way, even if it was 90% women, who's policies caused this mess in the first place?
Take note that most of Fox News's commentators are running with Romney's misleading claim, and are reporting it, as if it's the absolute truth. Today ,they even included it as a focal talking point in their prime-time segment they call, "Obama's War on Women."
rradiko, that's because Fox, like the Republitards only know how to lie. They've gotten so use to it they actually believe it's a freedom. I bet most will argue lying is protected under the Constitution. :)
"Schizophrenia" Mitt, Flip Flopper - jeopardy !
Yeah, the fictitious war on women is the most important issue. Of course the fact that women doing the same work as men at the White House are paid less shouldn't get in the way! See how much it really means to women when they're unemployed, and collecting food stamps! This upcoming election has only three issues, JOBS, the ECONOMY, and GOVERNMENT SPENDING!!! We've all seen how well the inexperience of those now in office have implemented hope, and change in these areas! Do you want to give a man with excellent campaign savvy another shot? Or a man with excellent business savvy? How is being successful in the business arena not better than being just a politician, and a community activist?
jerry l,
"If you just look at the last year women only made up 25% of the new hires according to the article."
But the article did not spell out where those new hires were or in what fields. Please folks, I am not being misogynistic, but some jobs like oil-field rough necks, steel mills or foundries are not known for using a lot of front-line women as employees.
lol .. When is Ann going to apologize to the people of the USA for her foul mouth "UNZIP MITT"
OMG are you for real? If you consider that foul mouthed you must have to skip over every other comment on this site.
Republicans created the economic crisis through their "starve the beast" policies. Cutting taxes, going into deficit spending, going to war twice.
Those are the policies that forced women out of their jobs.
Eric-913730,
Really? The Republican's forced Obama to increase spending. Really?
armurray
Yes they did. It takes a lot of money to pull our country out of what could have been the second great depression thanks to GOP give a ways through "shrubs " tax breaks for the rich, larceny from his "base" in the financial markets, and two off the books wars.
How much does the GOP pay for troll comments anyway?
Spoiler: government spending does not destroy jobs, austerity measures do.
workingpoor-2370498,
So your answer is to spend more. Got it...
Ash Plissken,
Just tell that to the folks in Greece.
armurray
No the answer is to keep the "borrow and spend" republicans out of office.
NOBODY likes tax hikes but that's how government is supposed to pay for things. Just look at the tax breaks they're trying to give the "job creators" (In China) now. Ridiculous!
Or when Obama said raising the debt ceiling was unpatriotic. So when Obama makes up a Republican war on women, he ought to expect it to be challenged.
Obama was a community organizer, funny how you never hear if he was any good at it. It certainly proves community organizing does nothing to prepare someone for the job of being president.
If the ACA is overturned, then overnight 40 million Americans will be uninsured and you'll see insurance rates increase by over 20%. ACA saves money over doing nothing.
Besides Republicans have nothing to replace the ACA with.
Republicans have obstructed anything Obama tried to do, our recovery might be much better had his agenda not been obstructed.
Obama never said that unemployment would stay under 8%, check with any fact checking body.
Republicans wouldn't let Obama close Gitmo. Obama is bringing the troops home, and republicans are screaming mad about that.
Republicans are at war with women, most Americans think so.
Being a two bit governor from Massachusetts doesn't prepare you any better to be President, and Obama has Presidential experience now that Mittens doesn't have.
Here is typical Mitt -- I'm not against contraception. The vague response means he isn't against the existence of birth control? Whether wanting to end Planned Parenthood, or supporting "personhood" legislation, or failing to show leadership when Sandra Fluke was being libeled, actions speak louder than words.
With zillions of anti-abortion legislation passed since 2010, including mandated ultrasounds, to regulating abortion clinics out of existence, and Teapublicans voting against the Lilly Ledbetter legislation yet supporting the Blunt-Rubio amendment -- Scott Walker just repealed equal pay for women -- WTF? Go home and ask your wife or daughters, and they'll tell you Teapublicans have waged a War on Women.
Eric-913730 -- Agreed. In regard to "Being a two bit governor from Massachusetts" it is clear that Romney did this stint as briefly as possible and only as a stepping stone to running for POTUS -- to the point of weird obsessiveness.
True Patriot--do some research--the Lilly Ledbetter legislation was a gift for the Trial Lawyers Association and had nothing to do with equal pay issues. It made it easier for class action plantiff suits without any real evidence of discrimination so corporations would have to defend themselves if one department had more men in it than women even if there was no actual discrimination. Good try though as you forget to explain who receives all kinds of money from the Trial Lawyers--oh yeah thats right Obama. Romney isnt againt Planned Parenthood just federal funding. I thought you were for economic fairness yesterday. Why is the federal government funding a charity over the funding for other charities like Cancer Research for Kids or SIDS or a myriad other worthy charitable causes. Why isnt Planned Parenthood treated with "economic fairness" with other worthy charities?
After she unzipped Mitt, Her mouth may have been fouled
Not sure what planet Romney is from but it seems among all the people I know the majority of those working are women not men.
Ol' Etch-A-Sketch will be thinking about the women's vote in November, all right. He will be wishing he had a few to make his crushing defeat look a little less embarrassing.
But do you really know anything that is real?
Even the Dem's here know the demographics of how many of which gender are working; and its not more women than men.
I'm not sure which planet you are on, but it is definitely not earth.
Why would you expect Romney to understand the problem and tell the truth?
Afraid to dissapoint you, but less than a million people ended up getting health insurance because of the law.
26 Million who have individual health insurance plans will lose their insurance starting in 2014. Over 20 million employees who had employer health insurance will drop their employee plans.
Now add that to the 10 million who don't want an insurance plan, the 10 million who have pre-existing conditions (most STILL can't afford health insurance) and the 30 million illegals that don't have health insurance. We will have increased those without health insurance to 96 million or 30% of the population of America with no health.
Let's see a $2500 fine x 96 million = is nearly a quarter of a trillion dollars, mostly from people who don't have $2500.
Smart, real smart!
The one thing that seems to be consistent among all Republicans is they will lie about anything.
Kirk, your trial lawyer distraction is an epic FAIL
The GOP has already lost the women's vote and the latino vote, and they just don't have any solutions. You guys are gonna lose....by simple math at the voting booth.
Ladies,,,start your engines! Obama 2012 (Hillary 2016)
Republicans can lie and say there isn't attacks on womens rights but while they are saying it, states across the country are passing legislation that are violating womens rights. Wisconsin repealed an equal pay for women law citing, money is more important for men. They are passing laws penalizing single mothers, they do nothing about the dead beat dads.
If the republicans want womens votes than they need to start saying what they can and will do to protect their individual rights and protect their equality to men. This pointing fingers at democrats is making them look foolish. Its not the blue states that are passing laws that are blatantly discriminating against women.
I don't want to hear what you think Obama has done wrong, its been said. I want to hear what they would do for us and that is something the republicans FAIL at producing, meaningful answers. Increasing defense spending when military officials are saying that it can be safely cut and then calling them liars? These are the people we want as commander in chief of our military? Romney backing Ryan is just one more of his foolish mistakes in his losing campaign.
What? Republicants lie? That's all they know how to do. Besides, rightwingnuts believe women should be barefoot and pregnant, not in the workforce anyway. I imagine Romney is cheering the lie, not complaining.
There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, the Republicans can say that will swing my vote their way. No surprise the etch-a-sketch guy twisted things to try to make him look good, but what makes him look worse is he somehow didn't think anyone would actually FACT CHECK him and make him look worse, especially to women. I can always get another job if that is their big ploy for my vote, but his and the GOP's war on women is something I will never stand for. I have lots of friends, I come from a big family and I work in a big company, and no one I have spoken to will vote for Romney. Every time he opens his big mouth, he makes it worse for himself, so Mitt? Keep on talking and we'll not only get Obama back in, but it will be a landslide.
Obama/Biden 2012
OMG the liberal media desperately tries to hide Obama's abysmal record by comparing him to someone who hasnt been in office since 2008? Romney is talking about facts while BO's group continues to mislead the country about some "war on women, poor, elderly" blah blah blah. Let's talk about Obama's misleading "created or saved" employment numbers. What a ridiculous article......
UAW...
What else do you expect from the MSNBC goofballs? This is standard operating procedure for them my friend! HA!
(please, please, please show me the clown nose, fisty!)
Sick, UAW - Did you guys actually read the article? The statements de-bunking Mittens claims were made by the BLS, not MSNBC. Mittens needs to whip out the Etch-a-sketch and remove his foot from his pie hole.
You were given undisputable truth of Romney misstating the facts to intentionally mislead the public, but you ignore that and try to turn it on Obama? Yeah, sure sicko, keep up with that and see how bad you lose in Nov.
I'm sure that MSNBC will spend as much time and effort fact checking the claims of President Obama...
Yes it's almost comical in the lenghts they go to hide the fact that Obama simply can't lead.
The only thing comical about this article is the lengths that politicians will go to bend statistics and that brainless drones believe them.
Well, UAW and Sicko, the proof is in the
puddingfacts. Don't choke on it! Eat your peas, already! ;-)Obama/Biden 2012
I wonder what mothers think of the job climate for their kids. Anybody have figures on how well the 16 to 25 year old group is doing under the stellar leadership of Obama?
Rob, We can't talk about that. Let's talk about jobs saved or created for AFSCME and the UAW....
Hey GT... did YOU read the article... Mittens as you love to call him was CORRECT! Lefties just cant do the simple math!
This guy is an obvious left-wing-nut-job.... or just plain bad at math.
How could women lose more jobs than the overall total? Are you kidding me? How about because the overall total included an increase in the employment of men that offsets all but 16,000 of the 484,000 women that lost jobs during that period of time! (Let me spell it out... that would be 468,000 jobs gained by men... 484,000 lost by women... net 16,000 lost).
Which exactly proves Romney's point that women bore the brunt of the job loss and Pres. Yomama is NOT the superman they think he is.
What an idiot this guys is and how stupid is MSNBS for even trying to use this guys statements to refute the fact that Obama is bad for the future of women!
Lefties just can't do math! They keep proving it time after time after time!
http://www.wnd.com/2012/04/obama-speeches-exactly-same-a-year-apart/
Man oh Man,
There is just SO MUCH material out there on how BAD this guy in the White House actually is!
Enjoy the 49 or 50% some of these silly polls still have there Barack.
It's going to be a rapid nose dive!
Depends on the major.
16-18 will probably be doing horrible since many adults are so desperate for jobs they take jobs teenagers usually fill.
College graduates are probably doing well (at least in certain majors) not only because some majors are still in demand in this recession (see Engineering) but also college grads are cheaper than experienced employees.
But like I said, lumping together the entire job market is inaccurate. Unskilled labor will look terrible due to the recession anyway.
Sicko,
http://cnsnews.com/news/article/eric-holder-praises-left-wing-activist-al-sharpton-says-facts-law-will-guide-trayvon
Do you think Obama called Holder yet? I'm guessing the call went like this....
Barack: "Eric, it's Barack. Please keep your mouth shut, idiot!"
Eric: "yes, sir"
Sicko, You're splitting hairs to make point. A 16000 swing in either direction when dealing with these large numbers makes it an irrelevent figure. In six months, it can easily swing in the other direction... Either way, the economy is starting to recover, and that won't be forgotten in November.....
Obama/Biden 2012
Rob, from your own link:
"Concerning Trayvon Martin, Holder said, “I know that many of you are greatly -- and rightly -- concerned about the recent shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a young man whose future has been lost to the ages."
"As most of you know, three weeks ago, the Department of Justice launched an investigation into this incident, which remains open at this time, and prevents me from talking in detail about this matter," he said.
“Although I cannot share where current efforts will lead us from here, I can assure you that, in this investigation – and in all cases – we will examine the facts and the law,” said Holder. “If we find evidence of a potential federal criminal civil rights crime, we will take appropriate action. And, at every step, the facts and the law will guide us forward."
Why on earth would President Obama - or any president - have a problem with that statement?
Great web site, though - "CNSNews.com relies on individuals like you to help us report the news the liberal media distort and ignore." Please send us money today!
How come I never think up great scams like that?
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/apr/10/mitt-romney/romney-campaign-says-women-were-hit-hard-job-losse/
Read it and weep. Romney's accusation is "Mostly False". From politifact.com
GT...
In typical left-wing fashion you have completely missed the point. The POINT is that it is NOT a 16,000 job swing one way or the other... OH NO! It is a 484,000 job swing to the bad for women! And LARGE numbers like 484,000 lost jobs by women on Obama's watch is not women-friendly!
I know I am piss'in in the wind here and you people will never get it... (mainly because you don't want to because you would have to admit Obummer is a failure.)
And stop trying to deflect the fact that you were just proved wrong by trying to change the subject to "the economy is starting to recover..." blah blah blah!
JoAnne in Pa - I'm so surprised (not really) that most right wing posters on this site don't remember that Romney and Santorum said the Trayvon Martin needed a thorough investigation. How quickly the little righties forget!
If Romney supports women,
TELL HIM TO SELL HIS CLEAR CHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS STOCK
or
FIRE RUSH LIMBAUGH
Don't let him get away with talking out of both sides of his mouth!!!
SeekingSanity,
Speaking for myself as somewhat more to the right, I think everyone on the right agrees with your statement. The Trayvon Martin case does need a thorough investigation. That means that it should be investigated independently by law enforcement and the justice system - just like every other case.
As I remember, MSNBC and the rest of liberal media is not part of the investigative arm of the government and shouldn't make a judgement.
Sick... I'm sorry, pal. You need to take some courses in statistics and learn what these numbers really mean. They do not mean what you think they do, pure and simple. The Romney campaign is relying on simple-minded ignorance like this to make their claim sound legitimate. Yet, you have the information at your finger tips from the people who really do know how to interpret statistical information and you choose to ignore it? Why? Are you one of those people who just don't trust them thar folks with an edumacation? Besides, I'm not even sure you realize what it is Romey is claiming. They claim women have lost over 92% of jobs -- a number obtained by simple divisionary math of 740000 total lost, 683000 women. That would mean men have only lost 57,000 jobs total. Period. Seriously! We all know that is not true. How can you defend that abuse of statistics??
saddened-1829725,
As the article states, there were only 57,000 jobs lost by men during that time period. The numbers change depending on what starting date you use.
From the article:
As a statistics teacher myself, it seems that Romney's numbers are correct based on data presented.
Bush was president until the middle of January 2009.
Bush doesn't count according to Republicans, and they think this because they would like America to swallow the exact same trickle down policies (The Ryan Plan) again.
We tried the Ryan Plan from 2001-2009, remember what happened?
Also I would like to see the number of teaching positions lost from Republican governors slashing budgets. The Republicans ran on jobs, jobs, jobs in 2010 and then proceeded to shrink government costing thousands of public sector jobs. This Republican Congress is so worthless, they've actually not created ONE SINGLE JOB and have caused many teachers to lose theirs.
... someone who hasnt been in office since 2008?
And yet, the ineptness of George W, Bush lingers on, with an economy that is still in the toilet. Don't you get it yet? The Republicans had their chance! 8 years of their policies trashed the American economy. But Republicans keep saying that we need to do it again.
Insanity - repeating the same mistakes over and over again expecting different results.
OMG! Willard is a liar? I'm shocked! Just shocked!
Yep,
Here is the fact check: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/apr/10/mitt-romney/romney-campaign-says-women-were-hit-hard-job-losse/

I can understand your opinion regarding Rush Limbaugh.
But, don't forget, your an expert on your own opinions only and no one else's.
I am greatly amused that the best Mitt could do to show his support for women was say that women should be playing at the Augusta Gold Tournament, an event that is at the deepest recess of every woman's heart.
Next he'll want equality in playing polo. He really really has no idea how people live, and doesn't care. He just wants to be the president, wanna wanna me me!
If I didn't know who Romney was, and someone asked me what I thought he did for a living, my first thought is: USED CAR SALESMAN.
He doesn't look like someone who even likes women, just someone who wants to drool on one. He's a grease ball... ick.
Pwned.
For Flip Romney, it's just one more lie. Gosh, it's so easy for him.
For the truth, it's Obama-Biden 2012.
Holy sh*t I feel dirty for having read this.
"Independent fact-checkers like Politifact and the Washington Post’s Fact Checker have echoed that, but they note that January 2009 shouldn’t even count for Obama, since he didn’t take office until the end of the month."
In fact, the 'independent' (translation: liberal) media have told us that everything in the economy up through April 2012 shouldnt even count for Obama...unless it is good news.
Hey Bob, how's your Vaginal Probe governor doing ?
You think Romney's gonna double down on the attacks on 50% of the voting public and pick your guy ?
You never took an economics course did you Bob?
Bob:
There is one thing that the Obama supproters are forgetting. During the mid 2000's Bush warned Congress that there were problems at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and that their loan policies were not sustainable.
Both Chris Dodd and Barney Frank, who were in charge of the Congressional oversight, had conflicts of interest in that people close to them were making millions from these policies. They said there were no issues.
A few years later Fannie and Freddie lost $150 billion (due to the "no issues") and certainly contributed to the economic meltdown.
While the investment banks in New York in 2007 and 2008 were buying Mortgage CDO's like there was no tommorrow, Obama's current Secretary of the Treasury was looking the other way. This contributed to the meltdown. Why is he now Treasury Secretary?
Stan O'Neal at Merrill Lynch who was a big Obama fan, drove that company into the ground with CDO's. This made the meltdown worse and almost brought down BOA after they purchased Merrill.
There are an awful lot of Democrats involved in the meltdown that lead to the great recession.
Bruce, there is a lot of blame to go around. But Republicans have completely washed their hands of any responsibility, laying the blame squarely on President Obama the DAY he took office.
MSNBC keep your correction team close by for the next several months, at least until Nov. because you're going to be vetted along with Obama and you will be making many corrections : )
To Bruce and others: There are a lot of things you do not remember. You just pick and choose your facts to support your meme generated by the Heritage Foundation, Fox News et al.
Is There an Antidote to the Republican Amnesia?
BY BARNEY FRANK
Memory eventually fails us all, but apparently the decline strikes one party far more than the other.
In recent weeks, my friends across the aisle have expended a lot of breath proclaiming that the Democrats caused the present financial crisis by failing to pass legislation to regulate financial services companies in the years 1995 through 2006.
There is only small one problem with this story -- throughout this entire period the Republicans were in complete charge of the House and for the most critical years they controlled the House, the Senate, and the Presidency.
In the House of Representatives, the majority party has almost unlimited power over the minority party. The majority party owns the committee chairmanships; it controls what bills come to a vote; and it is under no obligation to consider the ideas of the beleaguered minority. When the Republicans were in the majority they ruled with an iron first; it is no accident that Tom DeLay was known as "The Hammer."
That is why I find it particularly flattering the Republicans now claim that in the years 1995 to 2006 I personally possessed supernatural powers which enabled me to force mighty Republican leaders to do my bidding. Choose your comic book hero -- I was all of them.
I wish I had the power to force the Republican leadership to do my bidding! If I had had that power, I would have used it to block the impeachment of Bill Clinton, to stop the war in Iraq, to prevent large tax cuts for the extremely wealthy, and to stop government intervention into the private life of Terri Schiavo. Yet that power eluded me, and I was unable to stop those things.
According to the Republicans' misty memories of the period before 2007, I allegedly singlehandedly blocked their determined efforts to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and my supposed intransigence literally caused the worldwide financial crisis.
Fortunately, we have tools to aid memory -- pencil and paper, word processing, transcripts, newspapers, and the Congressional record. And as described in the most reputable published sources, in 2005 I in fact worked together with my Republican colleague Michael Oxley, then Chairman of the Financial Services Committee, to write a bill to increase regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. We passed the bill out of committee with an overwhelming majority -- every Democrat voted in favor of the legislation. However, on the House floor the Republican leadership added a poison pill amendment, which would have prevented non-profit institutions with religious affiliations from receiving funds. I voted against the legislation in protest, though I continued to work with Mr. Oxley to encourage the Senate to pass a good bill. But these efforts were defeated because President Bush blocked further consideration of the legislation. In the words of Mr. Oxley, no flaming liberal, the Bush administration gave his efforts 'the one-finger salute.'
The Republicans can claim some supposed successes despite my awesome power. In 1999 they passed the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which overturned a Depression-era law preventing commercial banks from acting like investment banks. In 2000, they passed another bill which loosened regulation of derivative markets. I voted against these bills -- but to no avail.
Under Republican President George W. Bush, many federal agencies turned a blind eye to activities which would later precipitate the global financial meltdown. The Securities and Exchange Commission decided to allow the nation's largest financial institutions to "self-regulate;" the Federal Reserve under Alan Greenspan declined to use its power to regulate subprime mortgages; the Comptroller of the Currency decided to preempt state consumer laws on subprime mortgages.
Meanwhile, President Bush himself demanded that Fannie and Freddie increase the percentage of subprime loans they purchased, supposedly because of his belief in an "ownership society." Incidentally, increased lending to subprime borrowers would also fuel astronomical profits by the financial services industry. I publicly opposed giving mortgages to unqualified borrowers because I believed that some families are better off renting.
Yet somehow none of this was recorded in the Republican collective memory.
Dirp, I appreciate your support for women and I don't know if you're male or female. Conservatives like Bob from Virginia, seeing as they would never have to endure a vaginal probe because he's a MAN, SIMPLY DOESN'T CARE. That's how the Republican party works. I have the money, so I don't care about everyone else. I don't have a vagina, so SURE, let's force vaginal probes on women. I'm a guy, and I impregnated a woman so I'm gonna split cuz I can, but I'm gonna make sure she has no choice but to have that baby and live in poverty for the rest of her life because the guy who was responsible for 50% of the creation of said baby will never be forced to be financially responsible (Wow, they'll take his passport, woop-de-do).
No thank you.
I CARE. I'm a woman, and I vote.
Obama/Biden 2012
Quit dating LOSERS. Women repeatedly confess they love the bad-boy, gangsta, hard knock, moron, criminals and deadbeats (see Youtube, go to any bar, watch TV, church, grocery store...etc). Those women deserve EVERY bit of misfortune they have coming. If they couldnt see the train wreck coming, thats says so much about the woman.
As far as the men, YES, they are POS for not taking care of their responsibilities. Dont go get knocked up by a deadbeat (in some cases multiple times) and expect anyone to feel sorry for you.
In addition, dont lay blame on the man for womanizing and toying with your emotions. Learn to control them and understand them much like society expects men to harness their sexual appetites and not stare and lust as we do. Isnt that, after all, hormonally driven as well?
Oh Rob.... I'm biting my tongue to keep from saying what I want to say, but Tyler will be all over me for it.
Your mindset is what is wrong with this world. One minute men are POS for not taking care of their responsibilities, the other minute you're saying not to get knocked up by a deadbeat, that a woman should have "known". Wait... all this flip-flopping... is that YOU Mitt Romney, posing as a guy named Rob?!
Men will say and do whatever they can to get what they want and when someone actually has faith in your gender, you show your true colors and say the woman should have known. Brilliant approach by a man who knows he is a douche bag and then blames it on the woman.
This is EXACTLY the reason abortion should remain legal and available to all those women who "should have known".
Peace... Obama/Biden 2012 Pro-choice all the way, for those times you end up with a "Rob".
UAW/Sick
Romney's talking about facts? Um....you read the article, right? Typical rightwing lunatics. Can't handle the truth, even when they're right in front of them.
Fact: the Obama 'recovery' from the recession was the worst since the 1930s.
Fact?
Hey Bobby
You can spin all you want, but there WAS a recession, and there IS a recovery. Getting dizzy from all the spinning?
VP Bob lying for his buddy Flip.
Fact: the Obama 'recovery' from the recession was the worst since the 1930s.
V-Bob, The mess that BO was given was almost as bad as the thirties. Recoveries are slow, at best. In fact, the next pres and the one after him will be feeling the effcts of the Bush administration.....
Here's a few facts to think about in comparing the 1930's recession with the current one:
Unemployment was stated to be about 25%, actually it was probably closer to 40% in the 1930's. Government spending (via WWII and before) was what brought the nation out of the recession, when the national budget increased by some 400%, and top tax rates were set at 90%. The downturn began in 1929 and did not actually end (by most estimates) until about 1944, a period of some 15 years. The world of the 1930's had the US as a net exporting country.
The current recession had stated unemployment at about 11%, with actual unemployment estimated at up to 20%. Government spending to stimulate the economy, even including the two wars started by President Bush, added a total of about 30% to the budget. The top tax rate is 35% and has been for 10 years, despite ample evidence that sustained lower tax rates do not lead to job creation. The current recession has been in existence since late 2007 or early 2008, approximately 4 or 5 years. Most econimists estimate we are at about the middle of the recovery cycle, which indicates that this very bad recession will be about a 10 year period. The world of today has the US as a net importing country, which it has been for at least 40 years.
While there is much to compare between the "Great Depression" and the "Great Recession" there is also a great deal of difference which makes the comparison difficult.
Nice try Fox liar. The REPUBLICAN DEPRESSION ended in the fall of 1939. 212 years before we got into the war. What a bunch of liars you twits are!
So tell us Republicans -- what ANSWERS do you have to fix the economy other than more tax cuts and more deregulation --- the vary same policies that caused this recession in the first place?
Delguy,
Not the recession did not end in 1939 for much of the country. However, certain industries, like aluminum, steel, aircraft, and military weaponry did recover WHEN we started exporting grain, planes, ships and guns. Full "recovery" was achieved after massive drafts bled off millions of working age men into the military, forcing employers to hire older men and women, even for traditionally younger men's jobs like machining and aircraft fabrication. AND the government seized control of virtually every manufacturer and supplier in the country. And what it did not control, it rationed under price control. Rationing and price controls did not end completely until about 1948. Using the Great Depression as a comparison to 2008 may seem inviting, but who really wants to live with the consequences.
BTW, Top tax rates under Eisenhower were 92%, average was about 35%; all to retire all those war bonds and fund the Cold War. We're still paying for the Cold War.
Nice try Mittens but your argument doesn't fly. Don't hear anything about how you are going to create jobs for women. And by the way, how many jobs were lost during the Bush era? I think quite a few women lost jobs then but all you want to do is give yourself and your pals another tax break. I don't think women want temporary jobs of renovating your mansions or being an car elevator attendant.
How many were teaching jobs due to Republican governors slashing state budgets?
"But First Read contacted the Bureau of Labor Statistics to get to the bottom of this 92 percent charge. The conclusion: The Romney campaign’s figures don’t tell the whole story."
Email at 6 AM today from David Axelrod to MSNBC:
"Contact the Obama bureaucrats at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, you dolts! Do I have to write the article for you, too?"
funny stuff
If you doubt the journalistic integrity of First Read, why do you spend so much time here?
When all else fails, blame the media. Rightwingnut play book, Item #1.
Buy a large supply of Dramamine, You're going to need it to listen to Mr. Etch-a-Sketch.
Yes, the Obama regime will pay 100% of the cost of your Dramamine. And birth control pills too, if you want them.
....and hopefully the boatload of anti-psychotics you need Bob if you believe that Mitt Romney is the candidate for you.
So, that's what happened to Bob! Johnson & Johnson was fined over $1 billion for anti-psychotic drugs today. Better go refill that script, Bobby! ;-)
Obama/Biden 2012
Bob, you're so outnumbered, yet you still keep swinging! Way to go buddy!
You and your pathetic GOP are out of touch with not only this country, but mostly with women.
Obama/Biden 2012

The truth would burn like fire in Rummey's mouth! He's a moron Mormon!
I think you already said the same thing further up the page, but that still doesn't make you correct.
There were no increases in the employment of men as you dreamt. The cherry picked numbers are useless, and since you bring it up, they are talking about February 2009, and at the end of that month, Obama had been in office for 5 weeks. Of course, you hold Party Boy Bush blameless, but a lot of us that pay attention know he was guiding the ship. He almost scuttled it, and you have Obama to thank for pulling his fat out of the fire.
Now there is an intelligent comment!
HAHAHA! Typical left-wing lunatic! When you dont like what they say... call them names!
(how childish!)
--------------------------------------------------------
BTW starterup... The numbers were from February 2009 THRU MARCH 2012! READ THE F'in ARTICLE and quit calling everyone else stupid you fool!
Obama was in office for the entire duration of that timeframe!
Good luck with that women vote. Of course the smart thing to do is wait for 2016. Romney has a better shot of getting attacked by a polar bear and a black bear like the E trade kid says. You really think the evangelical wackos are going to vote for a mormon that NOBODY LIKES?
Sorry, but Romney has my vote anyday over lying democrats! It is funny that you guys acuse the right of lying when obama comes out with a new lie every single day. You can start with healthcare costs if you want. LOLOLOL!!!! People lie about the women's vote because smart women will not and never have voted for obama and they know it! I saw through him years ago and have not been wrong yet. Democrats can only falsely blame Bush or make up tales about obama's failed record. But hey, you guys love to waste our hard-earned money on failed companies so why don't you tell obama to run on that record!!! It is easy to analyze companies and I did it for a living with 100% accuracy! However, obama and his puppets can't figure it out. Please!!!!!! Failure after failure! You guys must be proud!
I'm glad you are a proud republican. I, on the other hand, am a woman. The disgusting things that the party of your choice wants to do to repeal the rights we have gained are hideous. I cannot even fathom any woman being a republican. It is cutting off ones own nose to spite ones face.
To set the record straight, I am a 70 year old woman, and I remember when! You republicans are trying to drive the country back into the era of barefoot & pregnant women. I prefer to give women equal voice and equal power. My husband and children agree.
Wooohooooo Jean... you go girl! Women unite!!!!!
Obama/Biden 2012
Sickofthebickering,
Just another case of figures not lying, but liars figuring. 484,000 women lost jobs - true. But how many women found jobs in the same time period - not stated. These are national figures, but the United States is a collection of regional economies, each with its own demographics. Further, we are not as mobile a society as we think we are. Considerations like: family, resources to move, a job worth moving for, perhaps spouse or childrens involvements all limit mobility. AND the recently released study on military families revealed that while moving 10x more frequently than civilians, military spouses (over-whelmingly female) are unemployed at rates 4-5x higher than civilian counterparts.
Rummey will do, or say anything he thinks his moron followers will believe. And just look at his following? Can you say "Rushkie is an assclown"? Anyone on the right wing nut side that disobeys their master "Rushkie Slimeball" shall be punished by another four years of Democratic rule!!! They must have all disobeyed him in some fashion? Guess what? Obama will rule over you in 2012, and beyond! Now go drink your koolaid with the good rev. Jim!
I have never in my life seen so many mindless zombies following blindly along with a candidate that has no intentions of helping you? So, why MUST you follow that , that, thing called a Rummey? Appearently, you people have no ears? You never seem to notice how much he lies, and distorts the truth? You accept everything he says as gospel! Rummey is an asshat, and you followers wear him well!
OBAMA 2012
"I have never in my life seen so many mindless zombies following blindly along with a candidate that has no intentions of helping you"
Couldnt agree more...you Obama zombies are pathetic.
Df: Actually Rush is a bit upset that Romney will be the nominee....he is not "conservative" enough....LOL!
Rummey is an asshat, and you wear him well, Bobby!
Bob, you've just been smacked in the face with facts from a federal agency and you still stand firm in your support of Romeny. And you are calling ME a zombie? Ugh...and you live in the same state as I do. Hopefully somewhere to the West.
Where did I hear this before?
(please come up with some new material dude!)
DragonLiesALot hey re-reg! What is it with you and the stalking? I can't believe you haven't been banned yet-again. tick, tock, tick, tock....;-)

Bingo Cynbad!
He's been banned at least a dozen times...
I can't figure out WHY these @!$%#s keep coming back for more...
Can of Raid requested for bug infestation as observed above...
I think it's because people like this are so convinced of their essential... rightness.... that they feel they owe it to the rest of us to "correct" our thinking.
That and they're just asshats.
All: I have been marking LiesAlot's comment as inflamatory....since this time around he is using my title in his title "dragonliesalot", and does stalk me, and has been doing it for over a year using various titles once he gets banned, he waits a bit and starts up again. It is creepy how obsessed he is with me. It does violate the code of honor.
Mark his comments as inflamatory...hopefully he will get banned again...never to return.

Dragon,
Tell me about it, I have my own 'pet stalker' known as don'tgivemethepenguin, buck naked & he even regged using Feisty Redhead by adding a comma & a couple dozen other names!
It does get creepy but since Newsvine allows them to sneak back in, all we can do is ignore them...
BTW - he was reported last week for being a re-reg!
I also created a file for all the threatening e-mails I receive from these clowns, if necessary I will take them straight to the authorites...
Keep your chin up!
Thank Rorschach & Feisty, I will follow your advice. Guess I was just hoping he (I am assuming it is a he) would go away if I ignored he but he keeps coming back.
He has been banned several times, I have the names on my ignore list.
"Couldnt agree more...you Obama zombies are pathetic."
You right wing types do have a real tallest Bob --- whenever you try to describe a liberal, you end up describing yourselves.
PolitiFacts, a bi-partisan group, have labeled 32 comments by Romney as either "False" or Pants-on-Fire" lies. So not only is he Mr. Flip-Flop Etch-a-Sketch he is also a serial liar.
PolitiFacts, a bi-partisan group, have labeled 32 comments by Romney as either "False"
LOL!!! Anyone with a brain has long ago figured out Republicans don't need facts. They make it up as they go along.
Romeny's flip-flops, denials, backtracking, lies...all caught on video during the primaries....Dems can even use Newts, Rickys, Pauls ads against Romney, save themselves some money...LOL!
The very tepid "endorsements" by fellow politicans and pundits show how they DO NOT want Romney....they KNOW he can not win the general....of course neither could any of the other candidates!
Breaking news: George Zimmerman will be charged...
Hello Toyota3,
This is a very tough situation for both families and nobody wins. I am very sure Mr. Zimmerman wishes that this never happened and wish he could take it back. Please America lets respect the family wishes and that is to remain calm. I know that a young man is dead but I am sure Mr. Zimmerman is extremely scared also. Please do not be upset about my comments. I am only re-stating what the family lawyers have said as well. The family lawyer was on MSNBC also acknowledging his rights for an entitlement to a fair hearing in court as well. It is time that we come together. We can make it right for all people and leave the Hannity’s behind and hopefully in their hearts they will soon follow.
LOL...the wingdingers (UAW and Sick) on here are actually insinuating that figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics were a liberal scheme fomented by the Commie satan that is MSNBC???!!! Do you guys hear (or read) yourselves? Haha.....seriously come off it. Stop playing around. What do you really think?
Actually, George... I did not insinuate that at all.
What I said outright (not insinuated) was that you are not intelligent to understand that the statistics coming from the BLS. You see... the BLS said that between Feb. 2099 and Mar. 2012 woment had a net loss of 484,000 jobs. THAT IS A FACT!
AND... dig this old buddy... if you consider Jan. 2009 then Mitt's numbers were correct. Now... I will agree to toss out January since Obummer was not in office until mid-way through the month... but hey... he was "the MAN" from Feb. 2009 thru Mar. 2012.
Facts is Facts old buddy old pal!
Sorry... typo... stats were from Feb. 2009 through Mar. 2012...
But you reasonable people knew what I meant... right?
LOL!
That's OK sickOf, most of us were able to "figure" it out.
What's really important to think about, is that the Teapublican Revolution of 2010 was supposed to create jobs. If the Republican party would actually do what it says and create jobs, I would be very happy to vote Republican.
Until the recent bipartisan effort to pass an actual bill which should help create jobs for small business, the GOP has been more interested in naming post offices (which will have to close) and deciding what women can do with their vaginas.
I do hope the next Congress does decide to govern and not spend so much time bickering. Its BS and long past time for it to stop.
Your creative math Doesn't matter, Sick. Your'e party has already lost the women's vote. Sorry.
What women WILL remember is the GOP voting agaiisnst Lilly Ledbetter, the ACA, Contraception and a room full of Men testifying on a women's issue and your gramd pooh-ba Limbaugh and 'slut'. All on record, all in upcoming campaign videos from the DNC.
Fuzzy math ain't gonna fix that, teabagger . Your party is dust
That's the problem, repubs don't think for themselves, they think what Rush and Fox News TELLS them to think.
Romney should really consider endorsing Obama, it would make him look wiser
This can't be! Mitt is a man of God. Men of God don't lie <gaffaw>.
UAW, stop being dishonest and blaming the media on that lying, flip-flopping, gender-biased, out of touch numbskull.
Nice try at trying to change the subject. That's all you got.
From www.mormon.lds.net/honesty:
"Mormons believe strongly in being honest – so much that when we are interviewed for our temple recommends (a card that gives you access to the temple), we are asked if we are honest in our dealings with others.
As with other Christian denominations, we believe it is a commandment not to bear false witness."
So being the deeply religious man Romney says he is, can we assume he is always truthful, all the time? And if perhaps not, why not?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Don't mormons have some kind of rule or law that prevents lying.
rommey is a liar, plain and simple
Keeping in mind Joe Smith's history with law enforcement prior to receiving divine inspiration -
They use a perfectly "legal tool" to avoid speaking the truth... their religion teaches that EQUIVOCATION is acceptable to outsiders, just ask any Mormon if they follow the teachings of Christ or of Joe Smith and then watch them dance around the truth, the answer can ONLY BE one or the other, not both . Answering that one simple question correctly allowed Mormons to cross prairies on their way to the promised land w/o being murdered for being blasphemous heretics by farmers & towns people in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas etc.
Lying is surviving to them .
"Mormon Truth" & "the honest & complete truth" are 2 VASTLY different things, they know the difference but are not required to "speak truth to the devil or his disciples" .
AND.... if YOU are not a Mormon, then you are a tool of Satan PERIOD.
So, in answer to your poignant question YES they do have to tell the truth but ONLY to "their Gods" or each other .
Now you know why WILLARD has so many positions on everything...
and how he can "truthfully" say anything, outside of a Mormon congregation & still be seen as honest in the churches eyes & their supreme being, which happens to be a Woman !.. but THAt is another whole different bag of White Castles to swallow ..!!
Just wait until the Evangelicals find out that THEY are considered "Tools of Satan"
So, when does a clear intent to deceive become a flat-out lie to the DC press? Ever? Or, is any old blatant bull@!$%# OK, as long as it is in the name of politics?
IOKIYAR
This is funny. MessNBC gets its so-called "political unit' on what is an embarrassing story for Obama. This group should be called the "Get Obama re-elected, whatever the cost" unit.
The claimed war on women is a sham perpetuated by folks who put abortion rights at the top of their priorities when voting. It's a shame that real, sensible and pro life women get ignored by this president and his sycophants here at MessNBC.
What's funny is that bunch of Republicans got voted into office touting their plan to create jobs, and the first thing they did was bring abortion up en masse. I think you need to take a hard look at your proclaimed sham war and see your party for what it is.
So true George, Abortion and moral issues were the priority of the elected Tea Party Republicans, not jobs or the economy.
This group should be called the "Get Obama re-elected, whatever the cost" unit.
As opposed to Fox and their Get Obama out of office, whatever the cost"??
obamalies? I am a woman. Women aren't pro-abortion. Reasonable women are pro-choice. Let me tell you what that means. What that means is, when a woman gets pregnant with some guys child, (for whatever reason, failed b/c, no b/c, drunk stupidity, whatever), and that same guy who was 50% responsible for creating that child decides to bail because, well he's a coward and he just can, leaves the woman in the lurch. Not only financially, but emotionally and mentally. No help, it's HER problem. I love the "give it up for adoption" bit. Sure... that's so helpful. Now the woman will always wonder, because of all the "what if's"... what if he had just manned up and been responsible? Maybe I wouldn't feel forced to do something so drastic. She's a "slut" and he's, well, a "guy". You know what women got? Guys who are behind on child support get their passport taken away. Wow... no Caribbean vacay for you Gus.... you stay put in the U.S. and keep being the slouch you are.
I have two children in a loving home, complete with a supportive husband so this has never happened to me. Raising children is hard enough with help and support. To the women who go it alone? You have my full support and my admiration. For the women who cannot go it alone? You also have my full support and admiration. Being a Democrat, I see past myself and want what is best and just for all women. THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHAT IS BEST FOR HER. That's the difference between Democrats and Republicans. Republicans will tell you what is best for you (like vaginal probes), and Democrats will have enough respect for you to evaluate your unique situation (since this isn't a one-size-fits-all situation) and decide for yourself. How about that, what a concept!
I know what *I* would do in that scenario, but what I do doesn't matter to all the other women. I will always fight for the right for a woman to choose, no matter what that choice is. PLAIN AND SIMPLE, I DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO TELL ANOTHER WOMAN WHAT TO DO WITH HER BODY, PERIOD.
I will stand with the candidate who respects women's rights.
Obama/Biden 2012
NBC is fact checking? Seriously? Kinda like the "facts" they presented in the recording of George Zimmerman? You Dumbocrats are desperately seeking to keep the focus off of Obama's record 'cause you know if he runs on that he's gonna lose.
November 2012 - the end of an error.
RightToChoose,
I'm not thrilled by the "Obama record" but I'm certainly not disappointed or think that he should hide from it. Why?
27 straight months of private sector job gains.
He's kept the country safe.
He had Osama Bin Ladin killed....mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. The guy that Bush said they didn't care about catching anymore.
Two other black ops missions that saved Americans lives overseas.
He passed healthcare (however...it may not be found constitutional) that seeks to cover millions of people who wouldn't otherwise be covered. It ended pre-existing conditions, is closing the "donut hole" for seniors, and has aloud parents to keep their children on their plans until 26.
Stock market has doubled under his administration.
Ended discrimination in our military.
He's far less embarrassing as our last President was....oh...and much smarter.
He's killed more terrorists than the previous administration and deported more illegal aliens.
Why do you hate him so much again?
Well let's flip this coin and see the other side.
He inherited a AAA credit rating that under his watch fell to AA
He inherited an unemployment rate that was 7.8% and now it's over 8% (it got to 10% at one time and the real unemployment number is closer to 11% but divulging that little fact would definitely hurt his reelection campaign).
He inherited a $10T national debt and has grown that to $16T with no signs of slowing down.
He shoved Obamacare down our throats (I find it interesting you added that as a positive and then followed it up with "however....it may be found unconstitutional". Really? If 40 million people didn't have coverage why didn't he create a program for them and leave the rest of us alone?
He inherited gas below $2.00 a gallon and now it's over $4.00. To his credit he did warn us when he said, "Under my administration energy prices will necessarily skyrocket", and I guess that's okay with you.
I would question your "smarter" than our last President statement as that's in the eye of the beholder. You've obviously chosen to overlook the many gaffes he's made such as "I've now been to 57 states, two more to go", and "...Israel is a strong friend of Israel's", etc.
He constantly thumbs his nose at our Constitution. He appoints people to cabinet positions when he isn't supposed to, thumbs his nose at a contempt of court order in Texas, divides the people along all lines - social, monetary, racial, and political.
He campaigned on promises of unity and an open and transparent government neither of which we've gotten.
He promised that pork barrel projects would not be allowed to be slipped into laws when no one is looking - lie.
He promised no more secrecy - lie. You have to look no further than the Obamacare vote to see the back room deals and behind the scenes bribery that when on in order to secure enough votes for it to pass.
He promised that when a bill shows up on his desk that we, the public, will have five days to see what's in it online before he signs it - lie.
Should I go on?
In other words, RTC, you're all pissed off at the President because he hasn't fixed all of the last administration's @!$%#-ups yet, but he has had the audacity to try to get more of his country's citizens some health care.
Noted. Say, what else did Rush cover today?
Rightto, your spinning some of those "facts" We were downgraded from AAA because we have a Republican Congress in place that refused to pass budgets and therefore S&P had no confidence in our system and no choice but to downgrade, that was the fault of the Republican congress not the President.
Now I will agree with you on HealthCare (Obamacare), it was not a good idea, he sure should have focused on the economy and jobs first.
Now typical Obama haters always mention the remark he made about the 57 states, I don't think your quote is exactly accurate, but what he was referring to was that there are other precincts that he checked on that included U S territories, like Guam, US Virgin Islands and others that vote . Do you really think he meant there are 57 states? You know you are just grasping at straws by calling him dumb for that remark.
Also, it is ok if we get 4 dollar gas, hopefully it will go up! You know why I feel that way? Because I lived through the gas shortage of the late 70, we had even and odd days to fill our tanks, with long lines. We've had 30 years to fix our dependence on foreign oil and we as Americans did nothing about it. So we deserve high gas prices.
I also think it's fair to say that as someone running for the office of President, they always make these promises that they intend to keep, but once in office, they are sat down and given facts and information that candidates don't have, thus the change that you call lies, occur.
If Romney supports women,
TELL HIM TO SELL HIS CLEAR CHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS STOCK
or
FIRE RUSH LIMBAUGH
Don't let him get away with talking out of both sides of his mouth!!!
He inherited a AAA credit rating that under his watch fell to AA
Did you even read the statement accompanying the downgrade? It put the blame for the downgrade right in Republican laps.
He inherited an unemployment rate that was 7.8% and now it's over 8%
Yeah, it was 7.8% and rising like a rocket! anyone with brains knows that was Bush's fault! But keep on blaming Obama...
He inherited a $10T national debt and has grown that to $16T with no signs of slowing down.
Let's get the numbers right, shall we? He inherited a $12T debt with an economy in the toilet. That economy , with decreased revenues due to so many people out of work (less revenue) and more unemployment payments is what is driving the debt up. And we can thank good ol' George W. Bush for that!
And on and on and on...
Should I go on?
No need! We see exactly where all your lies are headed. Yours and the Republican party's lies. Thankfully, the American people are not that stupid. You will all get your asses handed to you this Fall.
You Dumbocrats are desperately seeking to keep the focus off of Obama's record 'cause you know if he runs on that he's gonna lose.
