Video trickster James O'Keefe has posted a video showing a man walking into a Washington, DC polling place last Tuesday during the local primary and claiming to be Eric Holder.
In the video, the man gives Holder's name and address (which is bleeped out). The poll worker asks the man to sign the voter sheet, but the man says he has left his ID in the car. "You don’t need it," the poll worker says. "It’s all right. As long as you’re in here, you’re on our list, and that’s who you say you are, you’re okay."
The man declines to sign, says he's going to get his ID, and leaves.
O'Keefe's group, Project Veritas, offers the video to rebut Attorney General Eric Holder's position that there's little evidence of in-person voter fraud to justify changing state laws to require government issued photo IDs at the polls. The video includes excerpts from a recent NBC News interview with Holder on the subject.
In response, a Justice Department official says "about the only time we get concrete evidence of voter fraud is when someone pulls a stunt like this."
By the way, a federal official says the man in the video did not commit voter fraud, because he never signed the voter sheet and -- therefore -- never received or cast a fraudulently obtained ballot.

Why isn't this punk in jail yet?
This isn't the first time this POS has been in trouble with the law;
Which means, if the signatures does NOT match you are required to then show a picture ID!
It works the same way here in IL.
I'm sorry, I fail to see how this proves 'voter fraud'...
If it proves anything, it is how desperate the right is becoming!
And it's blowing up in their bloated white faces!
Didn’t he impersonate a federal official and officer of the court?
Isn't that a federal crime?
So basically, these people are making fraudulent statements to prove fraud?
Why would anyone take this bunch of miscreants seriously?
Republican Party, you have a problem.
It wouldn't surprise me if this wasn't a total setup and the person at the signup sheet knew it was going to happen. This lying right wing nut has used EDITED VIDEO and FALSE information to try and help republicans. He should be in jail for doing things like that or sued into oblivion by the people he hurts.
And Obama should be in jail for everything else...
"It works the same way here in IL"
And Feisty should know, she votes 5 times in every election.
Sandy, your right. probably more of the same tactic. but keep in mind most connedcervatives don't know what video editing is.
And it's funny how another convicted criminal is a connedcervative hero.
It's hard to find evidence of voter fraud when you don't look for it Mr. Holder. There's no evidence that it doesn't happen either, and the probability is high that it does happen.
the biggest fraud here is obama and his gang of petty tyrants....obama is a liar, a distorter, and a divider.....he needs to become a community organizer in december..he has all the qualities for success....ANYONE BUT obama IN NOVEMBER!
www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/robert-schlesinger/2010/01/26/james-okeefe-arrested-undercutting-acorn-allegations
There is no overwhelming evidence of fraud. Republicans want photo ID to prevent a high voter turn out, which they will need with Mittens Romney.
Obama kept us out of a depression, is winding down two wars, got Bin Laden, has kept 175 promises to date.

spoken like a true bush connedservative. your party really stands up for truth and justice. Or truth and justice as they feel fit.
If your going to simply repeat what you hear on the radio, then your just a Parrot.
Poor Rob in Ma .. thought he had a 'smoking gun' on this 'viral' video. How embarrassing for the RWNJs and the GOP.
Today's count for 'Rob in Ma Idiot' - a cool but whopping 11m-even hits. Oh, and for those interested, google hits for A.L.E.C. criminal, 8.22m hits. Found this link entertaining, and the headline, well priceless, although they left out God and Gays .. perhaps their allegiance/marriage with the NRA will get those covered.

James O'Keefe gets some guy to attempt voter fraud on purpose to prove it exists yet he really didn't prove it because the guy knew he could be prosecuted for impersonating Eric Holder, refused to sign because his signature would not match and he did not vote. Since when are video cameras allowed in voting places if they are not the media and have permission?
"By the way, a federal official says the man in the video did not commit voter fraud, because he never signed the voter sheet and -- therefore -- never received or cast a fraudulently obtained ballot."
But he could have signed a fake name and voted, and nobody would have known the difference. The polling personel don't have a copy of Holder's signature to verify.
That's the point, isn't it?
The signature NOT matching would of raised a red flag!
Red,
If it's such a nonstory how do you explain that it's on this site of all places?
Let's see where it goes. When I pointed out Obama's "unprecedented" remark as it happened last week the Redhead and other moonbats thought the blockbuster story was Romney handing out free ham sandwiches.
Keep real Red! Everything about this administration and the democrat party is EMBARRASSING!
When will James O'Keefe put a magnifying glass on the GOP shenanigans of the tea party politicians?
[Poor Rob in Ma .. thought he had a 'smoking gun' on this 'viral' video. How embarrassing....]
Raab is blowing smoke out of his rectal perforation again? Say it ain't so Joe!
Raab, just like the video that (not-so) Breitbart was to air after his "untimely" death that was supposed to be Obama's undoing?
BAHHHAHWHAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!
O'Keefe is a scumbag...sooner or later this turd will be found in a dumpster in some alleyway beaten to a bloody pulp, or he'll be in jail.
I, personally, hope he lands in jail where his skinny little ass will be split in two by Bubba and Friends. He may want to opt for the dumpster...
It's his choice...
Gee Bob, there is only one poster on this site that admitted to committing voter fraud, and it wasn't Feisty. Typical RWNJ - can't even get your facts straight about posters on this site.
Oh, and we know how you love Vagina Probe legislation, so you must be thrilled that the SCOTUS has now ruled you get a free anal probe, courtesy of your local PD, for something as simple as an unpaid parking ticket.
Let's face facts. If ID was truly required, this was just stupid on the part of the poll worker.
But I wish the right wing would be equally outraged at how agents at local DMVs are evidently being trained to tell grandmas and grandpas -- who have probably voted in every election since Wisconsin first became a state -- that their bank records do not show sufficient "activity" to get an official voter ID card.
And I've got video, too.
http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/07/video-reveals-bank-activity-a-requirement-for-wisconsin-voter-id/
Realist,
If there's not a lot of evidence proving voter fraud, how can you know there's a high probability of it occurring? More importantly, why would a government official look at evidence of something NOT happening as a reason to spend money investigating it.
You're not making any sense.
The key thing people should take away from this story is that because opponents couldn't find evidence of actual voter fraud, they had to go out and fabricate it.
That right there says everything about the validity of their claims.
[When I pointed out Obama's "unprecedented" remark...]
Gee, Raab...what "unprecedented" remark was that? The truthful remark he made to SCOTUS?
How very...unprecedented...of you to notice.
Oh, and Raab...IT'S NOT VOTER FRAUD UNTIL THE "FRAUDEE" ACTUALLY VOTES...
But hey, you're a smart guy...you knew that already, right?
memo to Repubs ... O'Keefe is embarrassing your side, not the Dem side.
No voter fraud? Just tell that to the Democratic city council members in New York and the four Democratic officials in Indiana were hit with felony charges related to petition fraud in the state's 2008 primary.
I wonder why Democrats continue to say there is nothing to investigate.
Sorry teabaggers but Fiesty Redhead is correct. In Ohio we now have to do both only because the teabaggers kept falsely claiiming there was voter fraud when not one single case was ever, and I mean ever, proven to be voter fraud going back as far as WWII. Prior to their false claims it worked just as Fiesty said. I am a poll worker and do know how it works now and prior to the teabaggers false claims here in Ohio.
Did the kid get permission from his probation officer to do this?
To understand the claim by the Far Right regarding voter fraud, one has to see how silly the claim really is.
First of all there is NO proof of rampant voter fraud other than back when it was possible that in some local juristictions a few votes can make a difference.
Try to get enough false voter registrations to swing most elections and see how immpossible it is. The few idiots that try it don't amount to a hill of beans.
The actual voter fraud is what the Far Right is doing to keep people from voting. Also there is the Florida vote Bush v Gore that the Supreme Court interfered with. The law is that if a state cannot produce a final count within the required time, their votes will not count in the presidential ellection. In that case all the Florida votes should have been excluded. The Supreme Court had no constitutional reason to be invloved except to launch the worst 8 years in America in my 80 years.
Also, the Supreme Court had no juristiction. The Florida State legislature was the legal governing body and the Supremes went against the State's rights by butting in.
I was a Republican that voted for Eisenhower, our greatest in my opinion, but left the party in Reagan's second turn when I saw that real Conservatives were about gone and where the Reagan years have led us with their Trickle Down policy, that G.W.H Bush called voodoo economics, has been refuted by the guy that made it up. Check your history, except in Texas where they write fictional history of our founders.
I'm not all that happy with Obama but then I have no insider info on what he faces, however, we must keep voting Democratic untill we get at least one of those five anti constituion Right Wingers off the court.
But would O'Keefe take a Cousins sub from Mitt Romney in exchange for a vote?
You see, folks, most voter fraud is NOT voter ID fraud, and therefore won't be fixed by voter ID laws.
And folks, this is just another example of how 'stupid' the Fox informed RWNJ crowd is - they can't tell the difference between voter fraud and election fraud. Election fraud was uncovered on the petitions for all democratic candidates in the 2008 election. It is correctly being investigated and prosecuted. Now enlighten us, right wingers, as to how voter ID laws (at polling places) would have prevented this election fraud.

Oh lord this is fun! O'Keefe once again proves a point beyond denial with hard evidence....and the libs, instead of admitting that the GOP allegations are true, deny it with some of the weakest s**t I've heard in months. However, I note almost every lib comment does contain the characteristic namecalling....some things never change.
Wow you libs really have your panties in a bunch....
Oh, btw... I have never seen my signature on file when I vote....Is ther any state that does?
You're right, spome things never change, like conservies having a complete lack of understanding as to what a hard fact is or is not.
spider-737231 - it really is fun since O'Keefe proved nothing except that he has no intelligence or integrity - emblematic of the GOP. What he has proved is that he is an imbecile and all of you who think this proves anything are imbeciles too. The jerk never voted; never signed the sheet - which would have proved he wasn't Holder since the signature wouldn't match. How totally pathetic that you people jump with glee at such a sophomoric stunt. But it again goes to intelligence of which the GOP has none! That's the real point that was proved.
[I have never seen my signature on file when I vote....Is ther any state that does?]
Yes, New York has your signature right next to the box where you are required to sign in.
[O'Keefe once again proves a point beyond denial with hard evidence....and the libs, instead of admitting that the GOP allegations are true...]
Um, spider...the GOP "allegations" aren't true, and the only thing O'Keefe proved is what an ignorant bigot he is...you might want to distance yourself from that kind of hate. But judging from your posts, I can see where your support of O'Keefe and the GOP is in your DNA.
Also, you might want to check into what actually constitutes as voter fraud before you pull your foot from your ass, and promptly place it in your mouth.
Mickey, NY - too late! Spider has already done the foot switch!
See my comment #4.7
I love me some moonbat hysteria!
Long Live O'Keefe!!!!!!!
Hahahahahahahahaahahahhahahahaha
uisignorant-2
Wow you libs really have your panties in a bunch....
You have it so wrong, libs would love him to put out a daily video.
I wondered the same thing when the Black Panthers were intimidating voters.
Didn't you?
Go O'Keefe - more Voter Faux Fraud Videos. Maybe you'll eventually get one nominated for the 10k prize on 'American's Funniest Videos'.
Let's pretend for a moment that everything the folks on the left (and right for that matter) say is true. What's wrong with having to have proper ID to vote. You need it for everything else, including signing into a high rise building in every city, to cash a check, to drive, for insurance purposes, etc. Why not voting, too, if it cuts down on current or deters future voter fraud?
Well, if it isn't "Edit Suite" O'Keefe up to his usual non-existent standards of both muck-raking and rabble-rousing. Didn't his federal conviction ruin his credibility? No, not if you go to the Breitbart/North/Liddy school of journalism. Which is to say, no school at all, and like I always say, "no school, no class."
Way to live the dream, loser. When you go to prison for your parole violation, make sure to tell them your name is "Brittany".
The issue isn't so much whether a photo ID is a good idea, but how easy it is to get. The ID should be free and if transportation is needed to get it, or vote, there should be a system to provide it. What we need is universal access, not some gimmick to keep people from voting. There should also be an emphasis on the accuracy of the voter list to eliminate dead people and make sure a person is only registered once, nationwide. Voter fraud got us Dubya and that is a lasting disaster with our criminal supreme court and his wars.
This election like never before is decisive for both parties, Democrats will do what they know best , with the help of the black panthers and other groups similar to Acorn to change the outcome of this election. No citizen of any country in the world, can vote without identification, what make us different when there is no trust anymore.
You forgot to add what Republican'ts do best which is; LIE - CHEAT & STEAL!
Why the sudden sense of urgency to correct supposed voter fraud when it accounts for 0.0003% of all ballots cast?
Why is the witch-hunt only in states that have (R) Governor's?
Why is the GNOP wasting time attempting to fix something which isn't broken instead of concentrating on J-O-B creation like they promised?
Inquiring minds would ♥ to know...
PUHLEEZE people... can we STOP with the collapsing of comments bull@!$%#?
Everyone has the right to have their voice be heard whether or not we agree with them!
Yeah O'Keefe proved nothing other then election fraud is no harder then walking into a polling place and asking for a ballot. Only the Democratic Party feels disenfranchised over having to prove identity in order to vote. After all it was Democrats that were just indicted in Indiana for voter fraud. The end justifies the means for any liberal ideology.
So O'Keefe pulls another slacker prank and proves absolutely nothing - because no one actually committed any voter fraud. We still do not know if this person could have actually voted under a false identity or not.
The only thing that O'Keefe proved is that the deterrents are pretty effective - since O'Keefe and his 'assistants' are afraid to actually do the deed.
Apparently the RWNJ's think you can just stroll into any polling place and cast a ballot.
If that were the case Karl Rove would have busloads of "voters" making the rounds. And by the way "election fraud" is when politicians manipulate the election, not when some one votes fraudulently. (See Karl Rove again.)
Clearly not relevant in voter fraud. As was pointed out it was for petitioning to get on the ballot for the Democratic primary in 2008. It did not favor anyone since 22 petitions were split between Obama, Clinton, and Edwards. The prosecutors will lose their case. The only evidence being State Police thought that the petitions didn't look quite right but yet sailed through the voter registration board.
The only person charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced for voter fraud in Indiana was Charlie White the GOP Secretary of State. Charlie was convicted on 6 felony counts for not voting where he lived. He ran for the Fishers City Council seat. He won collected his salary and was promoted to Secretary of State by GOP Governor Mitch Danials.
Indiana enacted the new rules in 2008. Did not stop these frauds nor did it stop Obama from winning. The first Dem to take the state since 1964.
ROY WILSON-336103
And, this being the only polling place Holder could vote in (everyone has a unique polling assignment), Holder would have been refused because they would show that he already voted... and we would hear of this voter fraud throughout the land.
He didn't commit fraud. We don't hear of this happening anywhere. And THAT should be the point... you and the false-drama fake-videoing vote-suppressing right wing can't give us ANY examples, much less wide spread examples.
We, on the other hand, can show you thousands of elderly with no photo ID that vote via absentee ballot that will have their vote denied in November.
This is pure bullsh!t.
So the solution to voter "fraud" is to require poll workers to compare signatures. They do that here in NY. Where that isn't done, well, require that, not picture IDs. problem solved (if there ever was one).
As LMarcT correctly points out, if this were prevalent, real voters who had "already voted" would be screaming to high heaven. If fraudulent voting for dead people (who wouldn't complain) was rampant, accidental voting for an actual live person would happen once in a while--raising a stink. Where would all of these fraudulent voters come from anyway? You couldn't have one guy voting at the same polling place over and over, he'd have to drive around--which limits one person's capacity to what? 10 votes? 20 votes? You'd need thousands of them to make a difference. And to coordinate who should go where? It would be quite a conspiracy.
SmBusOwnerinNY, Thank you for one of the rare intelligent posts on this forum!
So fiesty red where did the election officals get a signature to compare? I guess you do not vote do you?
From when I registered to vote - you idiot!
You guessed wrong - I voted in every election since I turned 18 and became eligible!
Chris,
You mean like Eric Holder is, since he is a tax cheat. Or what about the safe school czar Kevin Jennings that is a NAMBLA supporter.
As far as all of you saying that it should not be a law to show your ID to vote. Why shouldn't you have too? It is against the law to not have ID on you too be able too tell police officers who you are, you need ID to chase a check or write one, you need ID too use your credit cards, but Libs want us to believe there is no voter fraud and this does not need to be a law. You ask why are the vowing such hatred for these kinds of laws it is simple it would stop voter fraud because you would have to show your ID what is the big deal, as I have pointed out we already have too do this in some many aspects of our lives, here is why the don't want to stop the fraud from illegals voting or anyone else passing themselves off as a man/woman that is now dead because it would take a ton of votes away from them. You can see how scared they all are just look at there comments. They are the same comments that many on the right used yesterday about the construction sign, I myself said it was probable Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson, the left said that is ridicules, but know they want you to believe the same ridicules augment. GET READY TO SHOW YOUR ID'S, IT'S COMING SOON TO A VOTING BOOTH NEAR YOU. bhahahaha
Repost for the Collapse Cowards:
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
Signatures are almost as unique as facial features. The only problem Republicans have with signatures as valid IDs is that even poor people, the elderly, and college students have them, and they tend to vote Democratic. O'Keefe's stooge would have been in BIG trouble if he had signed, because the poll worker would certainly have detected the fraud if he was doing his job.
he didn't ask to "vote" as Commandant Holder , he simply ask if the Commandant was on the list , and the ignoramous poller offered up the goods , with idiots like that at the polling centers no fraud is even needed , the errors alone would be enough to get someone like Obama elected , pretty hilarious video , they were even willing to let someone sign their name , with their dominant hand in a cast , and call it good . Kinda makes that "signature" thing a moot point. I guess since democrats write with their feet it wouldn't make much difference , never mind
if you have to ask
Who is "Commandant Holder"? You shouldn't call other people idiots when you show all the symptoms of being an idiot yourself.
Assuming your unsubstantiated incident even happened, someone just might notice if millions of illegal aliens showed up at polling places claiming their dominant hand was in a cast. Of course, it wouldn't take any evidence at all such a preposterous thing happened in order for people like you if an election didn't turn out the way you wanted it to.
"Assuming your unsubstantiated incident even happened"
watch the entire video , it can be found very easily...assuming you have the time
anything else?
houston,
Really, by law every US citizen is suppose to have and carry with them at all times a ID. So knowing that you claim just doesn't pass the BS test.
"he never signed the voter sheet and -- therefore -- never received or cast a fraudulently obtained ballot."
O'Keefe walked up to the legal line.....but didn't cross it. Even he knew better!
No voter fraud. Period!....and yes, he should be in jail!
INTERESTING!!!
SOOOOO..... In your version of America people are thrown in jail for standing in the wrong line??
How about EXPOSING FRAUD.... Is that a reason to be thrown in jail for in your version of America???
How about... EXPOSING GOVERNMENT SPONSORED UNDERAGE PROSTITUTION RINGS LIKE ACORN??? Exposing underage prostitution rings should ABSOLUTELY BE AGAINST THE LAW.... in your version of America.
Typical liberal menality... if somebody works against you.... create imaginary laws and demand that they be jailed for it.
Okay, I'll bite: what in the name of the wee man are you talking about...
Nah, on second thought "Civil Warrior" I just don't want to slip into your delusional world.
"No voter fraud. Period!....and yes, he should be in jail!"
... I'm delusional??? HOW MENTALLY LACKING IS THIS QUOTE ABOVE??
A simple fix just like the Hemis-Fair in San Antonio, Tx ca. 1968
and the same as the published photo of an Iraqi woman after
Bush-2 spent billions to get them to vote.
There is an ink that is non-visible, but shows up under specific black light.
It can not be washed off, but will dissolve away in 72 hours.
So walk in, stick you thumb under the light.
No ink -- go vote & put your thumb on the pad and verify under the light.
Got Ink -- GO TO JAIL
Note: this is not a finger print, just a way to verify that YOU VOTED.
[of course some idiot will find a way to hack this so they don't have to vote]
Politicians subscribe the to saying by Einstein....
Given any complex problem there is always a simple and obvious answer that is
absolutely wrong !
In case you haven't read any follow-up stories on the assault on ACORN by O'Keefe & Co., the entire thing was a fraud - not ACORN's fraud, but O'Keefe's. The tapes were doctored and edited to make it look bad. The guy that was interviewed on the "teen-age prostitution" tape turned the entire episode over to a relative who was worked as an immigration officer right after O'Keefe left. The findings by the States' Attorneys General were unfortunately not reported as widely as the initial b.s. that prompted ACORN to lose its funding. Unfortunately, there are way too many American-hating right-wingers out there that are willing to let their fellow Americans live in prison, poverty and hopelessness. And they call themselves "patriots." What a bunch of bull, they don't like most Americans, hate people who want to protect America's waters and land from pollution, and live in cowardly fear of all kinds of made-up enemies. Their patriotism is as phony as they are. What happened to the "land of the free and the home of the brave?"
O'Keefe just proved that the deterrents to voter fraud are pretty effective - since O'Keefe and his 'assistants' are afraid to actually do the deed.
O'Keefe only proved that the 'voter fraud' bogeyman is RWNJ fiction, at its finest. Only the RWNJ would try to create a fake problem - and - apply a fake fix.
What a bunch of slackers ...
James O'Keefe is so infamous as not to be news-worthy, and one could only hope he'd be sued into oblivion...
The first item to note is this was done in a Teapublican primary -- a primary so screwed up as to be laughable. Then there's the matter of O'Keefe being notorious for editing his videos -- in other words making fake videos.
But everyone already knows the GOP/TP had no intention of enforcing any of their new ID laws on their own Party. They didn't plan to unleash all their sorry suppression, typical misinformation, intimidation, and any other machination until the general election.
I hope James O'Keefe is taught a major legal lesson and lands in jail doing some significant time. Then we would have justice far greater than any supposed voter fraud.
The GOP/TP can't enforce an ID law at a voting precinct that aren't state laws. So O'Keefe showed that the current voter identification laws in the state almost allowed a fraudulent vote.
@Don in MO -- If the guy had worn a vest bomb - O'Keefe would have shown that the way GOP/TP conducts their primary voting almost allowed an act of terrorism.
'Almost' is an excuse that slackers use.
you had me until you said that he should be in jail.
Thank goodness for people like James O'Keefe
Far from being a "video trickster", O'Keefe shows just how vulnerable our elections are, to misconduct. And how is someone video taping incompetance or misconduct a "trickster?" It would be nice if the main stream media actually looked out for the public interst and reported the facts, instead of trying to disparage, mock, or marginalize anyone they don't agree with (i.e., anyone who's not a Democrat).
Anyone can go and claim to be anyone, and the poll workers in many cases unable to check your ID. This guy at the polling place didn't even recognize that Eric Holder, the US Attorney General was black, but you can't really blame this poor guy. The almost complete lack of safeguards in voting is laughable. So O'Keefe would have had to sign his name on the sheet, something the election official would have had to read upside down. The original signature is displayed on the voting rolls, so the individual could just easily mimic the signature, and I seriously doubt anyone would challenge that the signature didn't look quite right.
I mean... how completely absurd that Obama and Holder resist any efforts to reign in corruption and voter fraud. Who cares if there's "wide spread" fraud. Isn't ANY fraud enough to implement something so simple as simply displaying your photo ID?
There are many many things we need to change in our voting system to ensure the "sanctity of the vote." Right now, to register to vote under the "Motor Voter" laws enacted by Bill Clinton, you simply have to pick up the form, fill it out, and check the box, "Yes" for are you a legal citizen otherwise eligible to vote. I seriously doubt the local board of elections checks this form with any other type of database to ensure the validity of this application.
Also, MSNBC reported, the man "walking into a Washington, D.C. polling place claiming to be Eric Holder." He clearly DID NOT claim to be Eric Holder. He simply asked if the election worker had a ballot for an "Eric Holder" at a stated address. Certainly the wording was carefully stated to avoid actually committing a crime by by impersonating a person to an election official. That's fine, and understandable, but the misrepresentation of the facts by MSNBC is not.
I wonder if we'll see a heavily edited video of this on the NBC Today Show filled with errors and distortions, blamed as simple "production errors" as NBC did with the Zimmerman 911 tape, intentionally doctored to imply that Zimmerman was a racist.
Interesting that MSNBC somehow couldn't find any space to mention this NBC Today Show editing fiasco on their website.
.
Oh Flyeisty.....
Yep, let us all get on your bandwagon to send folks to jail.
Let us start with the 41 Obama White House staffers and some of their aides, along with HUNDREDS of elected "elite" Congressional Representatives, and HUNDREDS of government workers who have FAILED TO PAY THEIR BACK TAXES.
Then we can go after the Journalists who have a mind set of creating discourse with the American people and have forgotten Journalism 101.
Then we can go after the UCLA professor who is holding rallies and calling for a revolution.
....et al.
Get the drift ?
Back to the article:
Why is it the Liberals are fighting tooth and nail to keep any State from enacting Voter ID requirements ? Oh, they (Liberals) are the problem.
rose-3480561 -- James O'Keefe was arrested for trying to tamper with US Senator Mary Landrieu's phone system. So John-2006106, no, we do not need people like him and his harmful gimmicks.
Move along people, there's nothing to see here.
yes civil warrior your are delusional, all the things you stated that the mouse "okeefer" has so called uncovered have been proven false and okeefer has been proven to be a liar.
John-2006106 you make a great brown shirt and apologists for the right wing fascist movement.
O'Keefe here is like the door to door home-alarm salesman that comes to a sleepy town where burglary is virtually non-existent.
Nobody wants to buy his stuff because there is no need for it. So to "prove" the dire need for his home-alarm systems - he begins burglarizing homes. Suddenly, all the dolts in town are like "Gasp!! It's so easy to rob us, we need your alarm systems!"
Duped by the oldest trick in the book.
I don't have a huge problem with voter IDs if they are issued properly, but the fact that some of ya'll fall for this fabricated strawman from O'Keefe as if it's significant in any way is pathetic.
This whole thing doesn't pass a sniff test.... the way they are trying to push it through so fast as if it's an urgent problem (when evidence shows that IT IS NOT). The way they aren't ensuring that every eligible voter has an ID at ZERO cost BEFORE requiring it for voting purposes. It stinks of ulterior motives to disenfranshise a particular portion of voters. Then, they roll out classic Snakeoil fear tactics like this one, and ya'll fall right for it like a bunch of gullible marks.
1) He couldn't follow through and sign because then he would be open to prosecution for voter fraud.
2) He showed the vulnerability of our voter system.
3) The only way to prove voter fraud is occurring would be if two people tried to vote as the same person.
4) Voting for our elected officials, especially our federal officials should be protected against fraud by any means necessary. We need to ensure that those not legally able to vote in our federal elections do not vote. We need to ensure that no one is able to cast more than one vote.
When you register to vote you should have to provide proof of your legal right to vote. When you go to vote, you should have to prove you are who you say you are. States should be able to accommodate their citizens and provide free state-issued photo IDs for those who cannot afford them.
Cruzin, now that's a better argument. But simply because you show that something is easy to do - it doesn't mean that it's being done to any significant degree.... especially not to a degree in which legislation must be expedited through the system in order to stop it.
Not just free, but ZERO cost. Many voters are elderly and have limited access to transporation, or no birth certificate (what about them?). That, or they are poor and can't be taking time off the work week to stand in like for 4 hours only to get turned around because they are missing something. It must be ensured that every eligible voter has the ID BEFORE going into effect.
But that's the problem, it's not being ensured. When vote fraud of the type that an ID would prevent has been shown to not be significant enough to even come close to the margin of error... one must question what MOTIVE is there in pushing through such legislation so quickly, and then greasing the skids with fabricated incidents like O'Keefe's? What's the point?
Is it worth disenfranchising portions of the population in order to quickly and rashly protect against a virtually non-existent problem? Yes, it is... to some.
No voter fraud. Period!....and yes, he should be in jail!
In your logic you should get a speeding ticket for going the speed limit.
People need to feel confident their vote will count, so I'm fine with any reasonable approach to safeguarding this process. Even if fraud is not statistically significant, the perception of fraud is there - which is just as damaging.
I think it's perfectly reasonable to require a picture ID when voting. I've always used one, and I'm really not sure why people oppose this requirement. Having said that, the process to get an ID needs to be fairly easy and should not cost anything. As long as these criteria are met, I see no problem with requiring a photo ID to vote.
cruzin596-
It is far more important to ensure that nobody who is legally able to vote is in any way prevented from doing so. And unless the requisite IDs are guaranteed free of charge to all eligible voters, the proposed laws would prevent some people from exercising their right to vote.
Of course, if you're going to require people without such an ID to prove their eligibility in order to get such an ID, then you might as well just do that at the poll and eliminate the extraneous step...
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL---
You voted in EVERY election since you turned 18? I take it your vote has been Democratic? How long have you lived in IL?
Point is...how has that democrat honesty worked for a state that has billboards about how broke it is?
I imagine your response will have some blame for Republicans...but only in a vague way. That is you to a t...vague with your actual information (when it isn't about you of course. No narcissist ever forgets themselves).
I've said it before...you revel in the crap you spew about about the other party while acting like your own does nothing wrong.
We should be humble like our President. Forget rules of respect about politics. But you all just take your finger pointing cues from him.
Brian,
Thank you for asking...
Actually not, my very first vote went to Ronald Reagan.
All my life, with the exception of 6 years growing up in AZ.
Our Governor ran on raising taxes and won by an impressive margin.
Wrong again, I did notice however, you couldn't resist showing all of us the partisian bias you accuse me of!
Thank you for playing! ☺
What the article fails to add is when the individual left to get his ID, he said "I'll be back faster that you can say furious"
LMAO at that.
I thought that was pretty funny, too.
really, one fraudulent fraud? show me a thousand fraudulent voters, a number that can actually turn an election.
oh, i know one, the republicans not allowing thousands to vote. now, that will turn an election for sure!
ie; pub primaries, if it doesn't turn for mitt, don't count the vote. these are champions of voter fraud? really?
Voter Fraud Confirmed: 5000 "Non-Citizens" Voted in Colorado
Don't bother to follow this link; it only connects to some right wing nut job's blog. Not a credible source, unfortunately.
http://www.coloradopols.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=15503
This source says that Gessler's number were manufactured.
[This source says that Gessler's number were manufactured.]
Gee, imagine that...VaginalProbe bOb with a bogus link...
Fiesty if the signayure doesn't match what? There is no recorded signature on the voter rolls to compare it to. It is a compurterized list of voters with name and address nothing more. So how would the signature not match? Please have your election commission send me a copy so I can take it to mine. Then if we get down on our knees before Eric Holder he might let us use it.
Imagine that, Bob. You just got caught lying.
Wrong again!
You sign right under your signature on the voter rolls... which is how they compare them.
Just like your bank account!
You are then asked to provide a photo ID.
If it's not really me requesting a ballot...
DUH!
Ahhh - leave little bobby alone, he hasn't had his daily vaginal probe yet!
That always cheers the little fella up! ☺
Thousands of the dead vote for Dems every years.
We had scores (if not hundreds)of Washington state people move into Colorado prior to the 2008 election because they didn't need them to vote in Washington. The day afterward they started heading back to Seattle on the same flight that I was on. Another problem with easy registration and voting.
I'm sure it won't be a problem for you to give us the source of that claim...
No offense but your story stinks.. I'm sure you can point us to the documentation for your fairy tale!
Your word & a *wink wink* just isn't going to cut it!
uisignorant-2 - thousands of the ignorant vote GOP every election. Sorry but that about sums it up!
And, there are just as many deceased that vote for the GOP as the Dems.
But Feisty - "wink wink" is all they've got!
If he wants to film an "expose" on voter fraud, he should just follow Ann Coulter around during election time and watch as she votes in states that she is not registered in...numerous times.
But only if he ends the clip showing her fake indignant outrage at all of the OTHER fraudulent voters.
*jeopardy music playing*
We are still waiting for the sources to back up your outrageous claims, uisignorant-2 & Colorado-Man.
Maybe, we should just chalk it up to ignorant BS (as usual)...
Rick: The crime was voter registration fraud. There was no voter fraud. The guilty had submitted sgnatures for Obama to qualify on the Indiana ballot in 2008. As it turned out, he didn't need the illegal names submitted. However, no voter committed what is known as voter fraud. Check the Indiana Attorney General charges - don't trust Fox News.
Also, did Fox News cover the voter fraud (real voter fraud this time) against the Indiana Secretary of State Charles White (Republican)? He was ordered removed from office.
Thank goodness for people like James O'Keefe
Far from being a "video trickster", O'Keefe shows just how vulnerable our elections are, to misconduct. And how is someone video taping incompetance or misconduct a "trickster?"
It would be nice if the main stream media actually looked out for the public interst and reported the facts, instead of trying to disparage, mock, or marginalize anyone they don't agree with (i.e., anyone who's not a Democrat).
Interesting that MSNBC somehow couldn't find any space to mention this NBC Today Show editing fiasco on their website.
.
So, if O'Keefe had filmed his guy robbing a liquor store, then he would have had proof that liquor stores get robbed? But then his guy would have given the money back, really only proving that liquor stores almost get robbed.
Huh? What's all the fuss about?
Looks like the tea baggers need another debate or something. They're starting to run out of drivel to get excited about.
Yeah, I guess I should film myself walking into a hospital nursery and start punching babies in the face. That would 'prove' in your mind, John, the dire need for heavy security in hospital nurseries nationwide because it's just so easy to do! I mean, if it's easy, people MUST be doing it like crazy, right?!
Talk about nanny-state.
Feisty - I was there and talked to some of the dufuses as we were waiting for the flight. However, the numbers of votes that were submitted that only included the President and Senate race was other documented evidence. MoveOn.org had a huge presence here the last two elections; coincidence - I think not. While you may consider it anecdotal evidence simply because I don't have their names, the ability for the man to receive Holder's ballot was clear. And he didn't violate any laws as so many of you proclaim. He just showed how easy it is to turn over our system and disenfranchise me by fraudulently voting.
Daryl - most of those buffoons don't hold regular jobs so why would they care. Let me explain it to you slowly so that you can understand how it works. MoveOn.org gets you to move to Colorado to act as a staff member to influence the election. Then you change your registration to Colorado prior to the election. Then you vote in Colorado. Then you fly back to Seattle the day after the election (and change your registration back to Washington). Get your head out of your BS manufacturer and start to be able to see more than Feisty Dead Head's rants.
Nice work on busting Colorado-Man, Daryl!
I could smell his BS from a mile away...
Why so angry? You're the one who made a fool out of yourself! ;o)
Feisty - There was no BS on my part. You may need to get your nasal passages checked out. Probably damaged from all the meetings that you attend.
It's you and Darryl who, hoping for your liberal views to be thrust upon the rest of us, need to check on what really happened in the last election.
James O'Keefe - YOU THE MAN!!!!
Keep up the good work. Andrew is missed but not forgotten.
What caught my attention was the use of the term "video trickster". Seems a little smug, coming, as it does, on a news site run by a network caught doctoring an audio tape to make it appear racists.
Did you hear the one about the unnamed producer fired in the dead of night on Friday?
For anyone associated with this network to refer to someone as a trickster takes a certain hubris heretofore unknown outside of Obama's inner circle.
Oh. Wait. They're all in Obama's inner circle. Got it.
Good work? O'Keefe is and always has been - a FRAUD. Pete Williams and First Read should be embarassed for this story. Without mentioning his previous efforts along these lines - in which this ass bag's minions actually perpetrated voter fraud.
I love it, "we are going to prove voter fraud" and epic FAIL.
Nice to know Rob in MA approves editing tapes done by James O'Keefe and Andrew Breitbart but lordy, lordy, he throws a hissy fit about the Today Show. You can't have it both ways, Rob. Either editing tapes is wrong or it isn't wrong--you cannot stand on both sides as you have today and expect to ever be taken seriously.
I dunno...what would you call a man with James O'Keefe's editing skills?
You are aware that the raw footage of the ACORN episode tells a far different story, yes?
Oh, and lets not forget that he was arrested for attempting to tamper with Senator Landrieu's phone lines.
(Hmm...must be taking lessons from Rupert Murdoch on that one.)
Jody,
I don't think there were any indications that O'Keefe's latest tape was edited in order to present something that didn't happen.
So, noid, can I assume from your and Jody's posts that deliberately altering an audio tape to make listeners believe that racist language is being used in order to foment civil unrest is okay with you?
Because that is what NBC did.
This is supposedly a professional news organization. Considering the behavior of its personnel, I'd call that an open question.
Moreover, you keep trotting out the trope that the ACORN tapes were carefully edited in such a way as to show wrongdoing, where there was none.
I've yet to see any proof of that allegation. Quite the contrary, in fact.
The only editing I am aware of came from a speech by a woman who worked for the USDA. She was summarily terminated- before the truth came to light, which happened within hours of said tape being released. Sounds to me like Breithbart had all the credibility he needed, at that point- since it was Obama who jumped the gun on the firing. I'm not condoning editing that audio, mind you. I found that to be wrong, as well.
Oh, and O'Keefe was charged with trespass, because he wanted to go undercover to witness office workers ignoring the phone calls from constituents. Something that,oh, say, 60 Minutes might have done, in the good old days.
Not this network, mind you. They don't even pretend to be professional journalists anymore. High pontiffs in the cult of Obama, yes. Journalists?
Not bloody likely.
no joe and Rob in ma - how pathetic that you two look up to O'Keefe. Just shows how pathetic you two and your GOP really are! But, let's see what other elementary pranks you can dig up!
What O'Keefe does is show how pathetic the lame stream media is. Get ready for a lot more!
Obama's entire election was fraud perpetrated by a corrupt media. Not going to happen again!
Rob in ma-3189632 - Now you've totally gone over the edge. President Obama was elected by a vast majority of thinking people. He was heads above the losers the GOP was running. He actually knew we had economic problems - unlike McCain. And, he is again heads above the morons the GOP has running this time. You can whine as much as you want but until the GOP gets its collective head out of its a** you will continue to lose. We have enough of you morons in congress. We sure as hell don't need one in the White House. For 2016 TRY to find a candidate with a brain! Not happening is it?
Seeking,
Raab the moocher is just being the rectal perforation he was born to be...and he plays the part to a "T"
Eric:
The video was pretty convincing... at least for those with a brain. When you can just walk up and say "Do you have a ballot for Eric Holder at this address" and they offer it up to you, then ask you to sign the voter rolls, and view the signature upside down, and YOU think that's an acceptable way to ensure the sanctityof our electoral process, you're either ignorant, apathetic, foolish, or eager to subvert the process.
.
.
I can't believe ya'll fall for such an obvious strawman.
Sure, support voter IDs... fine, but make a REAL argument, not one based off a fabricated incident.
It's like a home-alarm system salesman who comes to a sleepy village where burglary is so low that it's practically non-existent. He's not selling much, so in order to 'prove' the need for his alarms - he breaks into a house. Suddenly, all the villagers (some of you) are like "By golly, we sure do need your alarms mister!"
You fall right for it.
So homeowners who have never been robbed should not buy alarm systems or lock their doors? I mean, they have never been robbed right? And there is no documented proof that locking your doors prevents robbers from breaking into your home.
To the Red Head in Illinois, Yes and we all know how honest politics is in the state of Illinois. Oh, by the way where are are last two Governors of Illinois, that's right JAIL. What a joke
Celtic 1 - yes and both parties are represented equally! That all ya got? Your post is a pathetic joke! Anything of value to add? Didn't think so!
SeekingSantiy:
Your post is a pathetic joke! Anything of value to add? Didnt' think so!
Seems you colon babies got caught again.
Larry, Republicans are the ones who ALWAYS seem to get caught in voter fraud anymore. Remember the person in charge of the election commission in a mid-western state. He was convicted on multiple federal charges relating to voter fraud and he is a REPUBLICAN. his republican Governor friend tried to get the judge to reduce the charges from Felonies to Misdemeanors so HE COULD APPOINT HIM BACK TO THE ELECTION COMMISSION!!!
If republicans can't win an election fairly they will do whatever it takes to win one even it takes creating laws to prevent many americans from voting.
Sandy
You should study Washington State if you want to see how democrats cheat. We have a Democrat Governor who had to pay for the third vote count in order to win. She lost two out of three but when her side did the final tally she won. We have a Democrat run PAC that recently got caught, tried, and convicted of voter fraud.
I can not see any reason that a person who wants to vote in this country shouldn't have to have identification to do so. The left is wrong on this issue. Why would anyone not want to have ID? How far can a person get in life without ID? But I guess it is better to keep people down in life in order to control them better.
Sandy, the laws in question don't prevent anybody from voting, it only requires them to prove who they are. How hard is it to get a picture ID if you are legal? For those with legitimate reasons, you Libs can go out and help them get one instead of crying about it.
Sandy, you are just a poor loser, there was no cheating in that vote and any recounts are manditory under law in Washington State depending on the difference it count not because someone wanted another count. Get real.
Realist, I would say it would be ok if republicans MADE ID's FREE. As long as you have to PAY to get an ID it is the exact same as the outlawed Poll Taxes in the south that were used to prevent poor blacks from voting.
But republicans will NEVER offer free ID's because they know if they did then their new laws might just backfire on them.
typical....offer them ID's free.
I too live in Missouri Sandy. I gladly show my id when I vote. I do not have a problem with it.
Sandy under the voter ID law that Texas wanted to enact if you have a voters card the picture ID from DPS will be FREE. They are giving a real break on this because they are 1) waiving the fee and 2) waiving the requirement that child support must be being paid in order to get an ID. That wasn't good enough for Eric Holder and so he slapped our hand and said no. It will be heard in this session of SCOTUS. Also if you forget your ID you will be given a provisional ballot and have 6 days to produce your ID.
Tis the season
I think maybe you were responding to me and not Sandy. (7.5)
Yes the vote in Washington state was close. that right there tells me that we really didn't want the democrat to win. Because it was close they had a recount. The Republican won the first count and the recount. The state said that there would be no 3rd count unless the dems paid for it. They paid for it and just happened to find some missing balots and golly gee the dems won. I'm not saying anyhting was done illegally but if it walks like a duck....
You need to get real.
"Video Trickster"???
Puleezze,
MSleftBC wishes it had investigative journalists as talented as O'Keefe.
The guy is a professional beggar. Tell him to get a real job already.
Sorry Raab - that is advertising & has been flagged as such...
Isn't O'Keefe the guy who tried to rape a CNN reporter on a boat?
I usually don't flag...but will in this case for advertising. (Comment #8.2)
in this case for advertising
That's all you silly shills do all day long is advertize for the failure in the white house ---- W-H-A-T-E-V-E-R.
Aww...poor Raab...what an EPIC FAILURE he is...
Rob, O'Keefe isn't a journalist.
[MSleftBC wishes it had investigative journalists as talented as O'Keefe]
Yeah, O'Keefe is right up there with Geraldo Rivera...
Fiesty:
I suspect the NBC producer in Miami who intentionally edited Zimmeran 911 call for the NBC Today might be a confessed law breaker. I mean, isn't it against the law to slander someone?
Or is intentionally and maliciously manipulating an audio to make someone appear to be a racist to fit the NBC story line that Zimmerman was an out of control Neighborhood Watch person something you condone.
.
Uhhh, if he signed the sheet, they wouldn't have been able to match the signature and then would have needed ID to verify.
Not only that, but it's a local primary.
Ah well, Breitbart is still dead, lol.
Match the signature with what?? He signes beside his typed name and address and then votes. No one later compares all the signatures before the vote is certified. If the guy would have signed the ballot he could have voted. He broke no law ....but exposed a hole in our voting laws.
1Hiram this was a setup don't bite the apple.
If someone checks in under someone else's name and address, the poll worker will mark that name off as having voted so NO ONE else with that name and address will be able to vote. It's still one vote but Eric Holder would not have been able to cast another vote. The voter fraud would have been discovered and corrected. Our system has worked for all of these years without a severe problem. If my mother were alive today, she would not be able to vote because she did not have a birth certificate. And she voted in every election until she died at age 78. I think the redistricting to favor of the GOP and rigged Diebold machines are what we should really be worried about.
junkie mom,
First, I am sorry for the loss of your mother.
In Illinois, there is no method to remove voters from the voting record. If your mother lived in Illinois, she would likely still be on the voting record, where someone else could vote in her place.
The same happens for people who have moved. I have 4 immediate family members who now live in another state (for at least 5 years), but are still on the voting records when I place my vote. When I voted a few weeks ago, I saw their records in the book. I told a daughter who happened to be visiting to come vote... Nobody would have been the wiser even though she already voted in her new state.
I don't know where your voter role gets a signature to match I want a copy of that. Voter role is a computerized list of eligible voters and their address. What pray tell are you going to match the signature too? Under the new Texas law if she was 70 yrs old she would not need an ID. My uncle never had a birth certificate either SS told us to bring his baptismal certificate to claim benefits.
armurray and lonereb - I vote in Illinois and there is a copy of my signature at the polling place. My signature is matched each election.l
You have to sign your voter registration when you register to vote. A copy of your signature is kept on file and checked against your signature at the polling location when you vote.
Jukie Mom
Your post is a bit confusing. There's NO WAY the voter fraud could have been corrected.
If O'Keefe took the ballot and voted, since it's a SECRET BALLOT, there's no way to know who O'Keefe voted for and no way to unring the bell. I'm not sure if Holder could have cast a ballot, once the records indicated he's already voted. Who's to say he didn't vote before, and is trying to do it again? It's his word against the election worker, who might not be present when the real Holder shows up. So if Holder show up, and they say, I'm sorry, you already voted, how does anyone figure out what that improper vote was for, it's a SECRET BALLOT.
.
The only verified source of voter fraud in the U.S. is, in fact, O'Keefe. Those who claim that fraud is happening all the time are notably silent when asked to provide any actual examples.
here ya go:
As for the D.C. Board of Elections, its loose practices are a matter of record. Last year, a community activist uncovered the fact that Andrea Pringle, the new deputy chief of staff to Washington, D.C., mayor Vincent Gray, had voted illegally in the district even though she admitted to living in Maryland. She resigned in the face of the criticism.
Nor is she the only example. State Senator Harold Metts of Rhode Island got a photo-ID law put on the books in his state last year after he was told by several constituents of a pattern of voter fraud in his home town of Providence. Indeed, his own state representative and her daughter had their votes stolen by someone voting in their names in one election. “The old system was not set up to readily weed out fraud, and it would be very hard to prove,” he told the Woonsocket Patch newspaper. Metts, the state senate’s only African-American member, says that he took a lot of heat from national Democrats for getting the ID law approved by an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature. But he says party loyalty only takes him so far. “It’s time to stop crying wolf and make the voter-ID law work for those on both sides of this issue who want to ensure the integrity of the system, while guarding against disenfranchisement.”
Several of the state laws that require photo ID also make new provisions to enhance security for absentee ballots, the tool of choice for many fraudsters. Last year, Lessadolla Sowers, a member of the NAACP’s Executive Committee in Tunica County, Miss., was sentenced to five years in prison for fraudulently casting absentee ballots for ten other people.
Tidal Wave, Tidal Wave, everyone run for highground we have found 15 of the 95 voter frauds, God save the Queen.
Metts, the state senate’s only African-American member, says that he took a lot of heat from national Democrats for getting the ID law approved by an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature
It's too bad that there's so few honest democrats still out there.
Today they are the party of parasites!
Oh God, now the righties are quoting community activists ... boys crying wolf must be falling from the sky.
Rob in ma - clearly the party of parasites is the GOP. No point is too low for them to stoop to. Pathetic little people you GOPers! There are NO honest Republicans out there. Or at least those who still admit to being Republican. Most are just too embarassed!
Early Out
Yep... I'd say that's true. There simply CAN NOT be any voter fraud, anywhere in the US, other than O'Keefe. YEP... got it! Just like there can't POSSIBLY be any malfeasance in spending taxpayer money in the GSA, other than those pesky things like that $800,000 conference outside Vegas for 300 people.
Now go back and put your head in the sand.
.
Under the Bush administration, which tried to “expose” voter fraud, only 95 cases were found, out of the over 10,000 general criminal cases they tried. This is not an effective method of voter fraud. You cannot affect an election like this. What voter fraud is: having 2 of the 3 manufacturers of electronic voting machines actively supporting the Republican party. What voter fraud is: not showing the code to govt. regulators citing copyright infringement (and when the code was accidentally exposed for 3 hours online, computer programmers found tons of flaws in the code). What voter fraud is: the Right’s continuous attack on our voting rights, trying to pass laws that mandate Ids to vote, restrict the type of ids you can use to vote, like student ids. How about Republican politicians (like in Ohio) putting in half the voting machines in minority districts as they put in White, Republican districts and giving minority voters faulty machines? The Republican party has openly said that they want to restrict as much as possible people’s ability to vote. How un-democratic is that?
Remember also that the last Bush and Rove disgraced their own justice department and AG's by trying to push voter fraud cases (that didn't exist)...
"The Republican party has openly said that they want to restrict as much as possible people’s ability to vote. How un-democratic is that?"
How dare the Republicans deny illegal aliens and convicts their right to vote, and others to vote as many times as they desire?
BIV, wow panic in the streets all the illegal aliens and convicts are voting uncontrolled. End of the World I say, drop and cover.
Bob-How many hurdles do you want to set up to prevent voting? First you want IDs which exclude the elderly and some minorities. Then you add restrictions on non-profits. The league of Women’s Voters, which has been helping register people for decades had to leave Florida because they passed new restrictive laws about non-profits helping register people and if they don’t follow these unreasonable deadlines, the organization gets fined heavily.
“Registering the poor “to vote is like handing out burglary tools to criminals”. – Conservative columnist Matthew Vadum.
And paranoid Bob, illegals are not clamoring out there to vote. Also you already can't vote as many times as you want. If you use your name, you are only at one district and cannot vote at another polling area. If you go to another you would have to know a name on there. You could run around all day and maybe guess one name at one booth. Wow, massive fraud.
Thats 95 Americans whose votes were stolen. Whatever happened to one man one vote. 95 Americans no votes.
And by the way:
Voter ID lawa are anti-democracy and as such are ANTI-AMERICAN.
End of story.
No they protect democracy by making sure your vote is not watered down by illegal voting. They don't stop legitimate voters from voting.
End of story.
KingK the requirements do stop legal voters. Older and poor legal voters do not have access to records to get the new ID. Find another country to steal with your BS.
King, what would you say if Obama demanded all Americans have an id? You could call him a communist.
Show me just one individual (a person that would otherwise be legal to vote) that can not get an id to allow them to vote. And I'll bet you we can get him/her an id in no time. Stop the non-sense and stop making excuses for continued voter fraud.
King, dems need voter fraud as they would NEVER get elected with out it.
tis
Your age or your financial status does not determine your access to records. Stop the silly arguments that are easily refuted.
King no doubt you live in the city, and have a job and are under 50. The states that require the new ID are charging for them. Plus you have limited places to get these new ID's and you have to have supporting documents and records to get these new ID's such as birth certificates, What about those whose records are lost due to time or fires, have never had a drivers license, library card or any other card but yet have been voting for decades and now will not be able to. This cry about voter fraud is a fraud pure BS. So stop your silly arguments that have already been refuted.
Season in Texas voters 70 and above don't need an IDin the new law. Most states have at least six items that can be used to prove birth and citizenship. I knoe Texas does I needed proof to get my DL. For registered voters who do not have ID in the Texas law the state issued ID card will be issued FREE to any registered voter who doesn't already have one of the 6 acceptable IDs.
Since when is only allowing legitimate voters to vote undemocratic? If that were true, then registering to vote is just as undemocratic! You declaring something to be fact doesn't make is so -- End of Story!
The argument that it is somehow repressive to require individuals to show ID at the polling place is pure bs. What is even worse is the argument that certain segments of the population will not be able to vote because they can't get an ID.. If voter identification stops one fraudulent vote it is well worth it.
BTW, what is the status of those voter fraud cases in Indiana where four Dems were recently indicted for forging voter signatures to get Obama and Hillary on the ballot?
How many pieces of ID do you have in your pocket right now that display who you are. The new requirements are pure BS. The only voter fraud we have is republican control of voting machine companies.
KING: For your or I perhaps it's not big deal. But for the poorest amongst us as well as the elderly, disabled, etc. it is very much a big deal.
Voting is the first and most precious of our rights under the Constitution. We are supposed to be making it EASIER to vote, not more difficult. And isn't it interesting that it's the GOP restorting to scare tactics because they know damn well that the poor tend to vote Democratic.
The Bush Attorney General's office conducted a in depth investigation into fraud, expecting to find rampant violations. Do you know what they found??? A whole lot of nothing. Voter fraud is a myth perpetuated by the Right in order to suppress turnout.
I have 2 with photo. and I have had them since I was 17 years old, only updating them when they expire. How many do you have?
Almost all voter ID laws have within them a very simplified process that allows people to show and/or obtain an id. What are these people afraid of, that they won't be able to vote before they are deported???!!!
If they are on welfare, unemployment, SS, medicare or some such, they have an ID of some sort or they could not get these entitlements.
Further more, ALL states that are doing voterID laws are giving the "poorest amongst us as well as the elderly, disabled, etc" FREE state ID's.
sonman so how many more do you need to qualify to vote, how many is enough, 10, 12 and if they can copy what you have what is going to stop them from copying new ID. This is a stunt to stop people from voting nothing more, it is stealing our democracy and yet you shout communist but want more ID, How about ID to travel between states to stop terrorist. Sound good to you.
King-You probably don't know your history but requiring ID is another form of a poll tax. You want an example? there are poor elderly in the city that don't need an ID. It is already hard enough to get someone to drive them to a poll to vote. Now you want them to go to the DMV spend $50-$75 bucks for an id and then have someone drive them to vote on a different day.
And why can't I get a fake ID that says I am King Conservative and vote instead of you?
SON & KING:
Just the kind of bigoted response I'd expect from the Right SON.
If this were about voter fraud then why have states like Wisconsin, with that scumbag Governor who is not long for this office NOT ACCEPTING COLLEGE I.D.s from out of state students? These are picture IDs and perfectally acceptable for proof of ID. I used mine when in college for I.D. whereever I went and it was accepted.
You know why? Cause again the Right is well aware that idealistic college students tend to vote Democratic. I heard the head of the Wisconsin Senate admit on TV that they were trying to suppress student voting. The guy actually admitted in on the air and said he was going to make Wisconsin more difficult for Obama to carry, this time around. He was laughing about it. To deny this reality is to show that you are impervious to facts.
You can't get any dumber that that comment.
oops, I change my mind. Yoy can get dumber.
HOW is this stopping people from voting? Here in my state, you can't get a library card with out an ID. You can't get a bank account with out and ID and many many many many more things you can't do with out an ID. I know of know one with out an ID of some sort and if you are disabled, the state will come to you and make your ID so the only people here that would not be able to vote would be the illeagals and dead people, of which most are democrat these days.
More stupid "argument'. That they will not be able to get an Id because it will cost them $50.00. Show me one voter ID law that requires someone to spend anything if they can't afford it!!! There are none. besides, if the Dem party is willing to drive them, by the bus load, to the polls. Surely they can give them a lift to go get the ID, right?
For you who say, these folks on government assistance all have ID's from the state; be advised, many of those ID's are NOT sufficient to use under the REThugs new voting rules. Check it out!
I think the comments I like best are "it's all MSNBC's fault">>>>>>>>>
In Texas only one office issues the state ID so if you need one for welfare that is the ID you have it is also one of the 6 acceptable ids for the new voting law it will be issued FREE to anyone with a voters card who does not already have one. As far as having to travel to get this ID yes there is probably not a permanent DPS office in Kennedy county there is also not a gas station in Kennedy county. But DPS has this interesting system of Licence examiners who take their camera and computer and set up in police stations in areas where they don't have an office. They give the drivers test issue the drivers licence and state ID cards. When it will be in your area is listed on the DPS website but everybody who lives there already know which day of the week they will be in their town. How do you think all the 17 yr olds get their 1 yr provisional licence renewed?
Yes indiana the state where the official in charge of voting was convicted of voter fraud and the long time senator running for reelection lives in virginia and has not lived at or owned the house where he is registered for 30 some years both Republicans.
Please stop writing about this moron O'Keefe. If you don't feed his voracious ego, it will starve to death soon enough.
This from the most corrupt and racist DOJ in my life time
SON: Ah yes, the new battle cry of the Right, calling Blacks "racist".
What's the matter, are you sick and tired of Whitey getting beaten up by the Black man for the last 400 years? How are we going to get you out of the cotton fields and off the plantation.
You know, when post horse@!$%# like this you merely confirm what an embarrassment the Right's postitions are. Are you desperately trying to imply that minorities are calling the shots in this country? I think you are and that's absolutely laughable. Well, it would be, were in not so tragic. Name me one thing Holder has done that is remotely racist.
Intrepid, careful he will point out that he gave guns to mexicans how racist is that, since now they are going to kill more white people with those guns. They know no bounds when it comes to proving there BS. They will misquote facts, distort just about anything to prove their point. The right is taking this country to the dogs so they can have all the power to dicatate how you and I are going to live. Let them try it.
Intrepid, only white people can be racists? What a dumba&&
SON: Who the phuk are you calling a dumba$$, you dumb a$$
Sure a minority can be racist, but it's the Rights new battle cry about EVERYTHING that Obama, Holder, etc, etc does. What you want to do is take the truth and realitiy and turn it inside out, and upside down. And then say, "see, look how racist all those minorities are". It's just one more canard that the Right has seen fit to puke up in an effort to distort the truth and deflect from the real issue at hand.
So now you know, dumb a$$
Sonman's right. The only racism that exists is "reverse racism." Ignore the, erm, tea party protesters...
Gee on another site I said Holder said that HE would not allow HIS DOJ to file a case of discrimination where a white was the victim. And said when did the DOJ stop being OURS and become his personal property. A employye of the DOJ e-mailed me direct and said it was our DOJ. I said you better tell your boss that because that case is coming up before SCOTUS this session. And BTW I do not feel it is my DOJ.
As proof of what a canard this is from the Right, if this were really about voter fraud, then all the GOP controlled states who ranting about "voter fraud" then why are these very same states reducing early voting days and banning "same day" registration? These things have NOTHING to do with fraud but they do have a great deal to do with minorities and the poor voting. It is quite common in Black communities to go to church on Sunday and then have a registration party and vote the same day. The GOP is well aware of this fact and knows only too well that low voter turnout invariably favors the Right. This whole business is such a transparent hoax, it's embarrassing.
It's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
And that being the case, there is obviously a hidden agenda.
Can we guess what that hidden agenda is?
Bull$hit. See below.
I didn't say it never happens, only that it's not a problem.
Republicans are very willing to eliminate voting rights for millions of people to preclude hundreds of fraudulent votes.
Their intent is obvious to all except those who agree with the agenda, like you.
It is amazing what the desperate will do. I see the RWNJs getting more desperate every day. That video proves it.
Naw, voter fraud never happens.
In 2004, John Kerry won Wisconsin over George W. Bush by 11,380 votes out of
2.5 million cast. After allegations of fraud surfaced, the Milwaukee police
department's Special Investigative Unit conducted a probe. Its February 2008
report found that from 4,600 to 5,300 more votes were counted in Milwaukee than
the number of voters recorded as having cast ballots. Absentee ballots were cast
by people living elsewhere; ineligible felons not only voted but worked at the
polls; transient college students cast improper votes; and homeless voters
possibly voted more than once.
Much of the problem resulted from Wisconsin's same-day voter law, which
allows anyone to show up at the polls, register and then cast a ballot. ID
requirements are minimal. The report found that in 2004 a total of 1,305 "same
day" voters were invalid.
The report was largely ignored, and just before the 2008 election the police
department's Special Investigative Unit was ordered by superiors not to send
anyone to polling places on Election Day.

I'll repeat my earlier post for the feeble minded.
The Bush AGs office conduction a long term investigation into supposed voter fraud. Again, THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION conducted this survey and expected to find rampant fraud. When concluded, they had to acknowledge that the amount of fraud was miniscule, and most of it was not actual fraud but rather clerical errors and the like.
INTREPID 1- and I looked up my numbers from before. 95 prosecutions out of 80,000 criminal investigations under the Bush admin. -Center for American Progress
Let's say there were 10,000 fraudulent votes. That's less than 1%.
It's a problem that doesn't exist except in the malicious intent of the GOP.
Fraud is fraud! I don't care if it's less than 1%. Many elections are won or lost by less than 1% of the vote.
Well, Eric Holder gave Marc Rich a pass, what do you expect. He was with Covington and Burlington, a giant lobby-law (fixer) firm in D C. He cares not one iota about fraud foisted off, as long as it keeps him in power to run his games to personally profit for his political agenda. Was his being appointed AG, a reflection of real Hope and change ?
Nah. !
Nobody hoped for that if they cared about AMERICA. Obama should replace the ERIC---Holder-- ASAP, if he wants even any remote chance for a 2nd TERM. Holder is like a trojan horse around the Obama's ADMINISTRATION's neck. He has the power to show Holder the door, now. He best not wait on that.
JIM: I think what Holder did with Marc Rich was dispicable and I say that as a liberal. It was shocking. Rich belongs in jail. However, Holder has spoken about it, acknowledged that it was a terrible decision on his part and that he deeply regrets it.
Having said that, if you want to talk about corruption, take a good long look at the 3 gangsters Dubya had as attorney generals. Giving Bush the green like to torture detainees, even though it's a violation of the Genevea convention AND STRICTLY FORBIDDEN IN OUR ARMY FIELD MANUAL. That's my idea of corruption.
Holder has also said he couldn't file against his people in the voter intimidation case with the NBP. Holder has said Discrimination cannot happen to white people. Holder has said the he will not allow his departmen to file any case where a white is the victim of discrimination. The last two were statements made in the next case coming up before SCOTUS one of the many Texas v the US cases.
New Black Panthers...what a joke. Two guys, that was it, two guys. Must be an insurrection. Run and hide conservatives. They're out to get you and your daughters, run, run, run. You people are a complete joke.
The left gets caught so they begin the distraction with name-calling. It's laughable.
Silly leftards... listen to the audio. O'Keefe never "claimed to be" Eric Holder. He asked the poll worker, "Do you have an Eric Holder?" Shortly after that, the poll worker practically shoved the ballot into O'Keefe's hands, never requiring proof of identity. The doofus who ranted about the possibility of giving a signature obviously doesn't realize that, without a photo ID, there would be no way to validate the signature. O'Keefe never touched a ballot, never identified himself falsely, hence no voter fraud.
You can't function in society without photo identification. Can't casha check, apply for welfare or Social Security, can't apply for a mortgage loan, can't buy an automobile, but if you have to show ID to VOTE, that's racist? How absurd. even for leftards.
PAT: Done with your name calling or are you just getting warmed up???
How is it racist??? It's racist because it's common knowledge that minorities and the poor tend to vote Democratic. The GOP has come up with a solution to a problem that didn't exist.
To further prove my point that this is not about fraud, why is it the GOP in many states banned College Student IDs as suitable identification? Why, cause the right knows damn well that students also vote Democratic. This is not a state secret. The GOP is also cutting down on early voting days and same day registration which has been customary forever. If anything, voting early would make fraud that much more difficult.
What is absurd is that you don't understand that the laws disenfranchise the young, the old, and the poor, regardless of color.
Another good point. Republicans, why aren't college ids good enough?
When in TX gun cards are?
Anyone from out of state can get a gun card...
No response, Pat?
Because out of state college students should be votng with an absentee ballot if they still claim their parents address as their home of record. College students are no different that military members who vote by absentee ballot. You can't vote in the state you go to school if you your home of record isn't in that state. The college student should have to show their driver's liscense or another form of identification that showing their home of record not where they attend school.
Uh, College ID's don't show your state of residence, gun licenses do. Now move along Dumb Fux. Your kittens need water
Wow - who knew - every college student is an out-of-state student.
Intrepid a survey taken in Texas found that White voters were less likely than either black and latino voters to have IDs.
There are thousands of foreign college students in this country. A gun license holder has already proven who they are to the state.
And how many of those thousands are allowed to register to vote? Duh, none!!! Do you understand how the voting process works?
College kids should be voting absentee? You are supposed to vote where you live. College students live most of the year at the College. DUH. As long as they are registered, they should be able to vote.
RedDevPS: Yes, I understand the process. My point was that a college ID cannot be used as a valid ID because the ID is issued to citizens and non-citizens alike. With Moter Voter laws on the books, a lot of people are allowed to register and vote on the same day with little to no verification of residency let alone citizenship.
Maybe the right wingers ought to learn how the election process works before they go making themselves look like idiots again and again. You can register to vote as often as you want, BUT YOU CAN ONLY VOTE ONCE! I'll repeat that again because righties just can't seem to understand that simple fact. YOU CAN ONLY VOTE ONCE!
I love the way the knuckleheads support their positions, using concrete data that begins with "probably", "maybe", "I heard", "what if", and on and on. Oh, and by the way, YOU CAN ONLY VOTE ONCE!
I listened to the audio portion of the video twice today. Mr. O'Keefe did not claim to be Eric Holder...he did ask the man at the polling location if they had an Eric Holder on their list. The man asked for a spelling of the name, and Mr. O'Keefe spelled the name. The polling employee was ready to let Mr. O'Keefe sign the form and then vote. Mr. O'Keefe said twice that he did not have his ID and the man told him it wasn't necesssary. Mr. O'Keefe finally stated he was going out to his car to get his ID and he would be back faster than the man could spell "furious." The man told him that was fine, they would be there when he got back.
And he lied and never came back. His signature would not have matched and he would not have been allowed to vote.
MCJ: This punk, OKeefe has been proven repeatedly to be a congenital liar. All of this stuff is grossly edited, completely distorting reality. That is precisely what he did with ACORN, an organization that actually did a lot of good in the inner city. His so called investigations are a complete perversion of the truth.
Tao my mother was a poll worker voter rolls have nothing you can match a signature to. They are a computerized list of registered voters with Name and address and congressional district or precinct only. They do not have your signature on them to match the signature to until you sign it there every time you vote. The voter registration card is supposed to be signed and I have seen people sign it there and then sign the list right afterwards. There is no proof the person holding the card is the person they say they are.
lonereb - don't know where your mother worked but in Illinois we have signatures. What backward state did mom work in? Actually if they have a question they ask for a photo ID so again, what backward red state did mom work in?????
When you go to a polling place to vote, they match the signature to a copy of the voter reigistration you signed when you registered to vote.
All State laws are different. Indiana has a signature to compare to. A voter signs right below the sample signature. The signature comes from the county voter registration office where you sign to get your voter registration card.
With all the left wing screeching and screaming in prior elections about election fraud....I have yet to see any proof on their part that there WAS any fraud other than in their heads.
Please enlighten us. Why is it NOT a good idea to ask for identification when you vote?
I already did, repeatedly. If you can't follow the thread, it ain't my fault.
It goes way beyond simple voter I.D. but evidently that's too subtle for you.
If you think I'm going to read all of the hate speech in this thread to find your supposed intelligent commentary....that isn't happening. If you can't remember what you said or cut and paste it.......that ain't my fault.
I'll just take it that there is no good reason NOT to require identification and all arguments against it are nothing but hot air.
I wonder which powerful nation will come and check to insure our election are legit?
UNBELIEVABLE; My posts were on this very same page, easily found. Nor can I recall any hate speach in them unless you consider opposing views to be hate speach.
To repeat just one of my points, if this were really about voter fraud then why are GOP legislatures banning "same day" registration which is very popular in poorer communities? Why are they drastically reducing the number of early voting days? Why has the head of the Wisconsin Senate spoken gleefully on air, about making it more difficult for college students to vote? He actually stated on camera, that it was his intention to make Wisconsin more difficult for Obama to win this time around, specifically through suppressing the votes of young people, i.e. students as well as the poor and minorities.
That's because election fraud exists, UB, and it's how Bush "won." Voter fraud on the other hand...
Isn't identifying yourself as someone else a crime? I think it's called fraud. Why isn't that fool arrested yet?
For you folks who find this so frightening; you have to sign your name before you vote and they have your signature on file. If they don't match, you don't vote. TA DA !
I have never signed anything in Connecticut to vote. It is not a requirement.
Because he never signed the voting roll and therefore never committed a crime. But how dumb do you have to be in DC not to know who the Attorney General is. You live in a federal district he controls your legal life.
When you registered to vote, you didn't sign anything? And you don't sign anything when you show up at a polling place to vote? Or do you just give them your ID and they match the signature on your ID?
