With Mitt Romney's big wins last week and the political world declaring the GOP race over, all eyes have shifted to Rick Santorum.
Santorum, a devout Catholic, is taking a few days off for the Easter holiday. His campaign, though, says he is not rethinking his plans, and he will fight to win Pennsylvania, which holds its primary April 24th. But we'll see if that changes. Polls in the Keystone State are tightening between him and Romney, and Santorum can't afford to lose his home state.
Meanwhile, Mitt Romney and President Obama are now targeting each other. Expect more of that in the Week Ahead.
On Sunday... David Gregory's guests on Meet the Press are Governor John Kasich, a Republican from Ohio, and Senator Dick Durbin, a Democrat from Illinois. They'll be talking about the general election.
On Monday... Santorum campaigns in Pennsylvania. He will STAY in the state all week trying to maintain his lead.
On Wednesday... First Lady Michelle Obama will appear on The Colbert Report. It will be her first time on the show since April 2008. Longtime Indiana Senator Richard Lugar, who is in a fight for his political life, faces off in a Republican primary debate with state Treasurer Richard Mourdock.
On Thursday... In New Hampshire, it will be the fourth in a series of swing-state addresses for Vice President Joe Biden.

I think its funny to see Romney trying his hardest to become a racist cracker !
On Santorum and the word 'devout':
The truth is while the current Pope's stance on taking care of the poor is the same as all the other Popes of recent memory;
Santorum's & Associates' stance is DO NOT HELP those in need or poverty in any way, but leave it to the free market, and let God sort it out.
Come on Romney, Mr. GOPee Wee Herman let's see some more "I know you are but what am I" comebacks.
Backhouse -- The whole destiny thing has been a major problem with Islamic societies as well. I say to Santorum and the "devout" -- You don't need to look both ways when you cross the street. If it's God's will that you should be hit by a bus, then so be it.
Hi TP,
The fact is taking the care of the less fortunate and sick is No #1 with Catholics.
If you like, it is their 'mission'. Folks think of Mother Teresa when they think of the Catholic faith.
Except, it seems that GOP Catholic politicians think that their part in taking care of the less fortunate and sick is covered by their membership in the Catholic Church, and they don't actually have to DO anything themselves.
Heartlight,
Kinda like swearin for these guys.
Maybe they don't say 'em, but they know all the words.
Backhouse -- In all fairness, the LDS church does a lot of charity too. As Heartlight3 and you have pointed out -- Too bad individuals in the Tea Party no longer embrace these basic tenants.
As for "pivot," this is what most candidates do. For Romney, well he better think back to the Olympics, 'cuz he will have to make a leap toward the center as never seen before.
Mother Teresa would tell these guys to go eff themselves.
.
I don't know I am saying it plain and simple in American, vulgar but right to the point and no confusion about the translation. I really do believe Mother Teresa would give these guys the kind of smack-down only an old school Nun could and would, she would not use my words of course but she would convey the contempt. On second thought I don't know with these guys she might use my words.
Forrest,
I was only wondering how it would be said in Macedonian.
I heard from a little bird we have another Easter baby!
Let's all wish Backhouse a very Happy *29th* Birthday & many many more!
Let the good times roll!
Happy Birthday Backhouse! I told Paul Ryan it was your Birthday and he said "let him eat cake".
Forrest, thanks,
Just as long as Ryan doesn't jump out of the cake.
FYI, found out today after googling it, that Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia.
Always thought she was French.
The birthling date ain't on this day, but all notsosweet cakes accepted.
Are you drinking at the DDI? You must be confusing her with that cute little Joan of Arc.
Speaking of Paul Ryan and his plan, and I might be just a little off here but not much: the president gets 450,000 a year for life as a retirement, Congressmen get 174,000 a year for life, the speaker of the house gets 223,000, the minority speaker 193,000 a year for life, the average person on SS gets 12,000 a year. I think we can figure out where the cuts can and should be made without Paul's help.
Shaw's "St. Joan" was my first trip to the Theatre as a very young person and it's stayed with me.
She was phenomenally bright with immense courage. Shaw was so taken by her ability to answer the death trap questions.
Those GOP Hous-ers set it up - so they are only on-campus work for 9 days a month.
$174,000 a year ... plus all the DUD-timewaster-never-was-going-to-pass-the-Senate-bills you can eat.
They got some gall to complain about public sector unions, they have the most outrageous pay and benefit package going, all on the taxpayers backs. They got some nerve to complain about teachers and such, I hope to see some of them in hell someday, I'll probably wind up as a greeter or usher there or something. I'll be happy to show some of them to their seats.
What is your take on Walker's anti-union law - lately ruled as unconstitutional.
No kidding it was ruled as unconstitutional? I think that is terrific I would like to personally be the guy that informs him he can shove it up his azz, I would offer to do it for him, I would like a week to sell tickets though, you know as a little democratic fundraiser, or charity drive for the relief funds of the unions that the hardworking men and women of the state of WI belong to that he tried to screw over. Is it true was it ruled out? My take is that Unions Rock, they give the little guy a chance to make a fair days pay for a fairs days work, have health insurance and a retiremnet with dignity. You can never have a decent economy if people don't have a bit of disposabal income, you want nice families, with familiy values, well it costs money to raise a family, and somebody has to be there to do it, hard to raise a nice family when mom and dad are both constantly working multiple part times just to make ends meet. You want the kids to play sports, take music lessons, dancing lessons, do their homework, ect, it takes money and supervision. Family values costs money, value by definition is not cheap. Big business has every advantage by way of legal representation, commerce associations, lobbyists ect ect, why should a workman go up against all that alone, unions give him access to some of that professional representation when negotiating with his employer. The employer never goes it alone, he has a team working for him why should an employee go it alone. You don't think those republican politicians in WI would dare try to cut a deal for their pay and benefits directly and individually with the citizens of their districts, they would not do that now would they. I don't see any politicians in Texas offering to work for the median income of $10.80 an hour ($21,600 a year if you work 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year) why not offer their jobs out to the lowest bidder if it is so damn good for the state and it's citizens. Why should a Texas Congressman make 8 times what the average Texan makes (thats just cash) if these low wages are so damn good for everybody. How come they don't seem to buy into the right to work for less and less and less when it comes to them personally. I love my family, I love my union, my union loves my family, Walker don't give a damn about my family. Friends don't let friends vote republican. Now you know a little about my take on these anti union laws and the hypocritical bastards that propose them.
Damn Forrest don't sugarcoat it. Truth to power. Hang tough my friend.
Ha, yes you are right IR my friend, that's good advice, I gotta learn to stop sugarcoating everything and just express my true feelings.
Happy Birthday Backhouse!
Wouldn't it be nice if conservatives would wake up to the difference between religiosity and morality?
Which is moral: a self-professed devout person of any religion who shows no concern for the less fortunate among us, or an atheist who takes up the banner for the poor, the sick and the downtrodden?
Talk is cheap, and there is nothing cheaper than religious talk.
Hey, Backhouse, congrats!
Helps to keep some perspective on all these games, huh. Bottom line is one of these yahoos is going to get elected or reelected, and despite whatever is said in the campaign, will mostly fall in line with bureaucratic controls meaning not much will really be impacted by which gets elected. Intuitively, we all know that, I think.
So while its important to vote, and perhaps even to help shape the debate to the degree we can by being involved, I do believe the most important thing all of us can do is to take care of family and friends, celebrate new family members, etc.
Things seem more course lately, and I suspect we all could use a dose of reality check to help remind us what is more important. Go looking for fights, even rhetorical ones, you'll always find them. So whether your philosophical views tie back to the Gospels or rock bands or whatever, this country and the world certainly could use another round of popular advocacy for peace, love, or even just letting it be.
@Kaybee - great comment. The following link has some great articles and research supporting the notion that atheists are more ethical than theists.
http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/nontheism/atheism/more-moral.html
Interesting framing / wording .... kinda like which is faster ... a man in a Porsche that is out of gas, or a boy on bicycle.
Fact is, conservatives are more charitable than liberals, the religious are more charitable than the agnostic and atheist.
In fact, the single biggest indicator of altruism is religion.
Conservative headed households give on average, 30% more to charity than liberal headed household's - $1,600 per year to $1,227.
There are all kind of studies out there that support this, these snippets are from a study by Arthur C. Brooks, Syracuse University -"Who Really Cares; The Surprising Truth"
Nope.
There is nothing cheaper than a bleeding-heart tight-wad liberal that instead of actually helping the disadvantaged from their own pocket .... sanctimoniously and piously demands the government take from others to give to the less fortunate.
Btw - check out RedDev's cite ... great articles such as Was Hitler an Atheist ... (and what do they say when you have to bring up Hitler / Nazis) ... and one more thing RedDev - Do you not understand the difference between being moral / ethical and charitable?
cite / site ... don't load the Depends ladies.
Oh goodie, here we go with yet another round covering the carp-crap issue of charity and the conservative belief they give, give, give while liberals sit, sit, sit. Brooks used some very questionable data collection as a basis for his right wing view as outlined in the excellent rebuttal.
http://yashwata.info/2011/03/15/charity-paper-preview/
That is a better question for you. The comments were concerning ethics and morals. While acts true acts of charity such as feeding the poor, vs. forced tithing, can be an indicator of a moral person, a stronger indicator would be someone who sees 'stand your ground' murder as unethical vs. ethical. Any bozo can 'stand your ground' murder and donate to a church. But a moral/ethical person would let law enforcement handle a law breaker, and donate time/money to feeding the poor.
Oh, and nice deflection on the Nazi comment. Tis your wee-pea sized brain to small to handle a discussion on whether Hitler was an atheist or theist?
bob-1805084 - sorry Bob but you lie. Conservatives give more to their churches but liberals give more to charities that actually help people - regardless of their religion. Liberals give more to food banks, soup kitchens, homeless programs, etc. They also give more of their time - hands on. Unfortunately the conservative movement gave up their ethics and morals a long time ago when they decided to vilify anyone who doesn't think just like them; hate just like them; and decided to turn their noses up at those less fortunate. The God I was taught about did none of those things.
You clearly have no concept of the difference between being moral or ethical since your comments show you understand neither.
RedDevil - well said!
There is no one more sanctimonious than a conservative, holier-than-thou hypocrite filled with pious baloney.
Those who park their over-sized butts in a pew once a week and believe that makes them morally superior; those who begrudge even a child a decent education, healthcare, shelter and food; those who give only to their church and allow it to use their donation for any purpose, even if it mostly goes to support the church hierarchy.
Those who preach that they are the chosen, that their way is the only way, and that those who fail to follow will burn in hell.
Those who callously use their position of power in a religious institution to manipulate and control others, to molest and rape children, or to commit other heinous crimes under the cloak of false piety.
Those who judge others as inferior because they do not buy into the hokum.
Oh yeah I'm pretty sure there will be some bible thumpers in hell.
Sounds like hell to me, spending eternity listening to bible scriptures being repeated over, and over, and over....
So RedDev's rebuttal is some blogger / whatever named Yashwata who's confused conclusion stated, among other things ... "that no one even knows what religosity is."
Thanks for the laugh.
And then you try to relate charity to .... 'stand your ground laws?'
?????
Are you sober, crazy, or just an inept political bigot?
Regarding the "deflection" on the Nazis comment ... it was your site, your reference, that HAD SEVEN articles relating to Hitler / Nazis not being /being an atheist .... and as they say - "enough said."
You just aren't very good at this, but feel free to try again.
SeekingSanity,
The facts are simply the facts no matter how you slice it, be it religious organizations, giving blood, totals by red state vs. blue states, zip codes to the various types organizations giving to various cartegories of giving.
Sheesh, one of the funniest examples is Komen vs. Planned Parenthood. Libs get outraged that a non-profit dedicated to breast cancer / saving womens' lives decides to spend their resources, their limited dollars on health providers that can actually provide mammograms.
The funny (or truly sad) part was that libs kicked in more money in one afternoon than Komen gave in a year .... in other words, libs were capable of donating all along - but weren't, instead relieing on others to support their cause and only ponyed up to make a political statement.
Anyway, I'm sure all this is over your head, get back when you find some sanity, SeekingSanity.
kaybeetoys,
FYI, my butt is neither over-sized nor a frequent occupant of a church pew and btw, nice bigoted, inane rant.
In case you didn't notice, (it is hard for libs to keep up), it was your statement in #1.26, that was a judgement, an implied attack on conservatives as being inferior ... my comment was in reponse to that.
Heck, there wasn't even a conservative on the thread until you brought it up. How liberal and open minded of you .... how "charitable", huh?
About my quote, I stand by it. The facts support my assertion.
It is also true the libs believe in big government, not free will of the individual, free markets, man's inherent goodness ... that government must take from one to give to another. And they do claim a moral superiority, they are the ones that care, by simply making this demand. The comments above demonstrate it.
And really, you really want to marginalize all Catholics, all their charities as a collection of child molesters and rapists?
They and others of different faiths may pray for your hatred, ignorance, bigotry and stupidity, but my butt won't be in a pew doing it.
Connect the Dot is a game taught to young children to improve cognitive skills, and clearly, you need to go back to pre-school and relearn the game.
What makes you think the donations to planned parenthood were all libs?
What makes you think libs didn't donate to Komen all along?
When questioning morals/ethics, why wouldn't any good discussion include comparisons to someone most think is amoral, or are you one of the few who hold Hitler in high esteem.
You are the one who brought up morality and charity with your fantastic claim that conservatives are the most moralistic because they give 30% of their income to charity. In fact, you seem to claim that murder is ethical, as long as one donates to their local church.
Well, yes, it is before 5:00 PM so I am sober, a bit crazy, and decidedly an adept bigot when dealing with small minded bigots who insist upon self-induced stupidity, as you routinely do on this site.
You know much more about this statement than I. As I said, go back to Connect the Dot 101 and see if you can't get a glimpse of the big picture. The rants and raves you post here display an undeveloped mind.
bob Old Country Saying. " A fellow that is more than willin' to let you know all about his morals and how faithful he is is generally bereft of both". Or in the words of James Brown " Actions speak louder than words and I'm a man of a vast experience"
Good Lord!
The 'jerk-off' aka Bob lot's of numbers is incapable of having a civil bone in his nasty ass EVEN on a holy holiday!
Speaks volumes about what type of creature he is...
Religion and morality are two separate issues, you don't have to practice a religion to be a moral person, and not everybody that does practice a religion is moral, you cannot automatically equate the two. Neither morality or religion is a prerequisite for the other, or guarantees the other.
I see bOb here just keeps sticking his fingers in the fan blades and wonders why his digits hurt.
RedDev -
Connect the Dot game ... coming from someone who cannot connect thoughts ... who can't even read with a marginal degree of comprehension?
Connect these dots ...
I never even mentioned the word moral / morality until the last sentence of the first post when I asked simply if you even understood the difference between moral and charitable.
Quote me where I ever said conservatives are the most moralistic.
I never said it ... and like I said before .... can you not even read?
I said conservatives were more charitable and again .... how many times do I have to ask .... do you not understand the difference between moral and charitable?
Look up the definitions ... if you don't comprehend the definitions, pull up a thesaurus and see if any of the synonyms are the same ... sheesh.
Independent Redneck -
What's the "Old Country Saying" for .... so you can't read either?
Forrest -
Thanks for posting something that is at least sensible.
In fact, you seem to claim that murder is ethical, as long as one donates to their local church.
Whoops!
Forrest, the last line was a comment by RedDev that I started to respond to until I realized it was so pointlessly stupid that it wasn't even worth a repsonse and moved on to redneck.
Had nothing to do with you, I just didn't look at the post until edit time expired.
Have a Happy Easter, bob.
I'll be in church praying for your skinny ass. :)
As I look at that picture of Mittens, I keep thinking the caption should read "Would you buy a used car from this man?"
bob, you need to take a deep breath, relax, and realize that spring is here, and yes, even YOU can find the joy in it.
Bob -- Wishing you a very beautiful Easter today. Enjoy.
Paul --I like the tenets of love and understanding. That is music to my ears. A very happy Easter to you and yours.
"Would you buy a used car from this man?"
I would not buy a used bicycle from that man.
I see him as more of a game show host than a president of the US. Move over Pat Sajak, be careful Vanna White, Romney might pick Sarah Palin as a running mate. Hey all you Super Pac donors "Come on Down!" on the all new Citizens United "The Price is Right for American Politicians" game show! Now lets meet our host Miiiitttt Rooooommmneyyy! Now for a commercial break from one of our proud sponsors the makers of Etch O Sketch.
Happy Easter to all who celebrate it & Happy Passover to my Jewish friends!
Time to head on over to the Dew Drop Inn for our annual Easter Egg hunt! Top prize is an Etch-A-Sketch!
I'm bringing some scrumptous 'deviled eggs' for our buffet this evening!
As always, thanks to our gracious hosts/moderators; Mark & Domenico! May you have a blessed holiday with your families and a little time off from politics!
Dang Friday again. Seems like my old clock just went off at o'dark thirty Monday morning
Any who down at the Dew Drop Inn we are going to raise a glass or three to two of our favorite Ladies that are celebrating special days in their life before we send them on down to the Comeback Inn for a weekend of fun and frolic. Don't worry Ladies we'll take care of Kidlets and assorted Munchkins and the Caretaker has personally checked out the reinforcing on the Chandeliers. So Nash and Miss K.C. Clara live like you want to live there Ladies.
But before we get into all that we're going to remember that it is Easter weekend and we are going to raise a Glass to a real Hero.
Sgt. Dennis Weichel, 29, of the Rhode Island National Guard died saving the life of a little girl in northeast Afghanistan, according to the Rhode Island National Guard.
According to the report, Weichel was in a convoy in Laghman Province last week when he noticed some children were in the path of the moving vehicles. Weichel and other soldiers got out to move them out of the way.
According to the press release, while most of the children scattered away, one girl went back to the road, as a Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected vehicle continued moving toward her.
Weichel saw the massive truck moving toward the girl and grabbed her out of the way, the National Guard said. The girl survived, but Weichel died after the armored vehicle ran over him.
The National Guard said Weichel's remains will be returned to Rhode Island on Saturday, according to the NBC Providence affiliate. The Army said Weichel leaves three children, a fiancee and his parents.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
In this Easter season I hope that it will bring some solace to his grieving children to know that Sgt. Weichel exemplifies the sacrifice that embodies our faith and belief in the hallmarks of duty and faith to our fellow man.
As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don't quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you'll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We'll make it.
Now I'm hoping that I can prevail upon our Tune Masters to start us off with a little bit of "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" especially for the youngest member of the First Read Family Mr. Murrays and Sasha's own Caleb.
Ahem! If I'm not mistaken, we have a BIG birthday coming up this Sunday at the Dew Drop Inn. So while somebody's favorite RH-ex-ST puts the final touches on his combination Easter bunny / birthday cake, I'd like to put a quarter on #A-1 in the old jukebox and if it's not wore clear through already, play this classic one more time for my favoritest Uncle Redneck in the whole wide world:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHo6ug6yAmw&feature=related
Hey, Feisty; just back from picking up Sey from the groomer! I wish you could see him, with his handsome Easter kerchief around his neck! IR, where are you my friend, here I am at the DDI, and every time I pick something up, an Easter egg falls out. Wait, is that one up in the chandelier? Did the Easter bunny make an early stop?
What oh what have we learned? Hmmmm. Mitt figures he has the nomination sewn up. The powers that be in the Republican party are pretty sure that he can't win the Presidency. Sort of the "sacrifice" candidate. He'll take the loss, the next guy can try to win.
What else have we learned? Corporations are starting to get nervous about Alec, and they should. They are the blight on the national landscape responsible for laws, like "stand your ground" famous for the recent killing of a 17 year old. They are also behind the voter restriction laws that are being proposed across the nation. If this group gets its way, the only people who will be allowed to vote must be old, Republican and rich. The Republicans "pay to play" scheme may be at an end and it is about time. Color of Change, a grassroots organization is keeping the pressure on.
But, time to fire up the grill. I have some delicious jalapeno brats, Feisty, let's get this party rocking!
My thanks to my hosts, have a fine Easter.
Happy Birthday, IR! You are the best story teller, and a good friend.
Okay Joanne you weren't supposed to tell but don't ask me how old because i'd be forced to tell you that "I'm old enough to know better but still to young to give a dang" and Newday and JoAnne and Betty and Clara and Nash and Jody and this list is getting to long but you'll know who you are both old and new you'll should know just how much I treasure you all. You lift me up when I am down and make me laugh thru the tears. You'll are really the wind beneath my wings and without the gift that you'll give me everyday there is no Independent Redneck. He would be just and Old Coot howling at the moon.
Have a wonderful and most beautiful Easter everyone!
Mark, Dominico and gang, Enjoy some time off with your families. A very Happy Easter to all of you. Many thanks for all you do.
Happy Birthday IR! Ditto newdayDAWNING's words to you.
See you all on the boards next week sometime.
"Old enough to know better", IR ? Well, now I've just GOT to put my next quarter on #C28, Toby Keith's great hit - "I Ain't As Good As I Once Was, But I'm As Good Once As I Ever Was"!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldQrapQ4d0Y&ob=av3e
Wait, is that Toby Keith's video, or the surveillance cameras from last year's party at the DDI? ;)
Now you are starting to get into the story of my life there Joanne.........And Don't Carry add yourself to the list. I'm looking forward to many happy days ahead sharing story's with you
Here's a beautiful song. It's called Soldier by Gavin DeGraw. Enjoy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_rBSij-gQg
Thanks IR, that means a lot to me. Truly.
What a sad but inspiring story about Sgt. Weichel. Thank you for posting it, IR.
Once again the week winds down. This weekend many celebrate Easter, many honor Passover. For those who do, have a Happy Easter and a Blessed Passover.
This year I faxed a request for the Easter Bunny to leave the conservatives some extra chocolate, Peeps, and other sweet treats because they seem to be in an awful mood. Especially whenever there is good news about jobs, the Chevy Volt or anything positive.....upsets them something awful. Instead of being happy that we're coming out of the Great Recession, they've taken sour pills.
Many thanks to our FR hosts for another excellent week, politics to talk about and a place to do it.
Time to head for the DDI to raise a glass, have some fine food and enjoy the company of friends. Happy Birthday, IR!!!! The feelings mutual from us to you.
Beautiful Don't Carry. It now has a permanent place at B-19 on the Dew Drop Inn Juke Box
I thought so to IR. Glad I posted it then. ; )
GIANT Birthday shout out to my main man Floyd!
I'm bringing the special blue feather boa that you enjoy so much to the party!
*wink wink*
Oh Lord here we go again. First thing you know you'll be pouring me back on a plane with a whirling head wondering what just happened. But you know I wouldn't have it any other way Betty.
Nope!
This time I'm going to make you stick around long enough to take me to breakfast! ;o)))
Then I'll pour you onto the plane... lol
Just remember that I'm now officially two days older than dirt and maybe won't hold up to the pressure so well. But what a way to go.
I'll raise that glass, IR.
To Sgt. Weichel and all the American Soldiers who really know what it means to wear the uniform, and act accordingly. Hooah!!!
And, happy birthday from a rightie on the left coast.
Semper Fi And you ought to know when it comes to the DDI and Friday afternoon all you have to have is the right attitude not the right politics
This We'll Defend (Army dad here), and thanks! Attitude is right.
For we are all Brothers beneath the skin.
Another raised glass to that, my good man.
That's very kind of you, Jody. If anything, conservatives should be rejoicing along with the rest of our country as we slowly climb out of the deep, dark hole Dubbya dug for us.
Perhaps we should pray for them? :)
Feisty, Happy Easter to you, too. But we're not there yet. For some of us, still a time of mourning until tomorrow.
Thanks for the wishes Paul!
Actually, I hosted Easter Dinner last Sunday because my daughter flies home this evening!
Hope you enjoy a fantastic day with your family & friends!
Happy Birthday IR!!!!
Caps snuck into the playoffs for us...hopefully they can do some damage!! :-)
Thanks Frank. You should include yourself on that list up there. Caps puzzle me. They can look so good one night and stink up the place the next. I think it's the Goalkeeper. But maybe just maybe they will get thier mess together and get a little farther than they have before.
Your Caps need to stay far away from my Penguins. We finally have everyone healthy and ready for the playoffs. Watch out for Malkin--he has really come into his own this year.
Know why the Easter bunny hides the eggs? Because he doesn't want anyone to know he's been doinking chickens.
On a more serious note: For those of you that offer prayers regularly, pls offer one for Rick Santorum's daughther, Bella.
Gotta run back to the treehouse now, kids- sweetie-face is beckoning. And she's got a big ol' bowl of old maids from all the popcorn popping this week!
Drive -by why did the Chicken cross the road. Because all the Doinking was on the other side.
Ok DBO; IR:
Those were clever enough to warrant re-telling them over happy hour last night. They got quite a few chuckles. Thanks for the wit!!
I hope everyone has a blessed Holiday weekend. Take time to say a prayer for our young men and women serving in the Armed Forces here and abroad. A very Happy Birthday to our Independent Redneck.
And you should include yourself on that list up there to Lisa. Thank you
Well said, Lisa. You have a Happy Easter, too!
I do NOT think any of the repubs candidates can "swing left enough " To even come close to the center .This whole primary has been " How far right " can ya go . I think they sailed off the edge . Actually I think This is how the Repubs are going to shed the Tea baggers like a bad suit . LMAO and BTW it has been hilarious . That is assuming there is a real Repub left , anybody that signed a "pledge " to that Lobbiest Grover Norquist is probably not gonna make the cut .
Can't get on the thread above but thanks, Forrest, for your eloquent defense of unions. We have allowed unions to be demonized by the right for too long. The dramatic increase in the income disparity between the top earners and the rest of us can be traced to the decline of unions in this country.
Carpenter 7---From one carpenter to another. They sailed off of the edge alright, they still believe the earth is flat. It's time to get all the Tea-baggers in one boat and send them on their way.
Happy Birthday IR, it's always a pleasure reading your post's.
myvote You just come on around and see us any time. That's what we're here for and positive feedback is always apreciated. When you get a chance drop a thought or two I'm always interested in hearing from somebody else. Shucks I already know what I'm going to say and somedays I get tired of listening to my old jaws rattle.
IR....Happy Birthday...may you live a hundred years friend.
Thank you to my favoritest Lady. I tell you what since things have died down a little why don't you join me in " They Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" You and me my Lady they ain't seen nothing yet 'cause they ain't been around like we have.
Now this idiot will have to remember everything he lied about.
But we haven't forgotten Mittsy and we will remind you
Romney trying hard to become a racist? that is funny, most people his color do not have to try at that they are born that way and they stay that way. no trying to it!
