more of Obamas lies and the ad was very weak. most americans know that production is up only because of the balken reserve. a reserve on farmers and private land of whickh Obama has no control over. the real facts is that Obama stalled the pipeline to get that shale oil from the shale fields to the refineries. and lets not forget the 800 billion of real taxpayers money went to his failed and bankrupt renewable energy that were in development stage and had no credibility just like him. fossil fuels are going to be around for awhile till technology makes true sound renewable energy economically feasable. its going to be awhile before development of an clean energy source that has the muscle to power large ships and planes. its funny how this administration attacks the industry that pays the highest tax rate 41% which is providing the most jobs and tax revenue for him to waste and spend foolishly.

Agreed, crap happened when he was in office, but really, is everything bad that happened somehow his fault, and anything good that happenes not his fault? Untouchable Pensions in California May Be Put to the Test

When the city manager of troubled Stockton, Calif., had to tell city council members why it was on track to become the biggest American city yet to go bankrupt, it took hours to get through the list.

There was the free health care for retirees, the unpaid parking tickets, the revenue bonds without enough revenue to pay them. On it went, a grim drumbeat of practically every fiscal malady imaginable, except an obvious one: municipal pensions. Stockton is spending some $30 million a year to pay for them, but it has less than 70 cents set aside for every dollar of benefits its workers expect.

Some public pension experts think they know why pensions were not on the city manager’s list. They see the hidden hand of California’s giant state pension system, known as Calpers, which administers hundreds of billions of dollars in retirement obligations for municipalities across the state.

Calpers does not want cities like Stockton going back on their promises, and it argues that the state Constitution bars any reduction in pensions — and not just for people who have already retired. State law also forbids cuts in the pensions that today’s public workers expect to earn in the future, Calpers says, even in cases of severe fiscal distress. Workers at companies have no comparable protection.

Stockton is in the midst of a mediation process with its creditors that will determine by the end of June whether it will file for Chapter 9 bankruptcy, which would allow the city to negotiate reductions in its debt in court.

john-1960608: You make some very good points, on oil production. Solar can be used for transportation by conversion to hydrogen. However, there is the issue of cost. Our local utility JEA pays $163 per MWh for its 1% provided by solar energy. This is over twice the amount of cost for energy from coal, natural gas or nuclear. The second issue is that for every KW you get from hydrogen, you use 4 KW's to produce that hydrogen. That is a very inefficent use of electricity. Plug in battery power is cost effective compared to gas on a fuel basis; however, the capital cost $40,000 for a Chevy Volt makes the overall cost less efficent. For now fossil fuels are the best way to power automobiles.

Fuel prices have doubled since this idiot was awarded the office. His energy policies are abysmal and he thinks this is all a positive?

I would think that all of those who are screaming about the high gas prices would be all over alternative fuel vehichles. I mean think about it. The more people who buy electric and dual fuel cars are actually help to bring the price of gasoline down. How? By reducing the amount of gas that we consume the price will fall, so that all of you who want to drive the big internal combustion engines will be able to afford the gas!

The price of gasoline was 1.85 when President Obama took office. It is now 3.90. We made a wrong turn somewhere. Make your own conclusions.

My theory is that the Obama Administration really wants high oil prices as a means to push their green energy agenda.

There is nothing wrong with investing in green energy, but why do it at the expense of the American economy and families?

And most laughable of all is the claims of the Obama administration that domestic drilling is up, like they are responsible. And despite the fact that Obama would love to "nationalize" domestic oil production( ie.Chavez), federal land drilling permits are almost none existent(moratoriums), and its private land drlling thats up, hence Obama and the left claiming exports of gas/diesel, (private oil selling on the global market to highest bidder, its called capitalism to those in Rio Linda) and has absolutely nothing to do with Obama administration policies(what a shock Obama taking credit for something he didn't do).
