I hope everyone has their 'Mega-Million' tickets for tonight, rest assured, after I win, I will be taking the entire Dew Drop Inn group on a lavish vacation - I'm open for suggestions as to where... ;o)
Many thanks to the two hardest working guys on the web; Mark & Domenico for keeping FR 'hopping'!
See you all over @ the DDI - drink special tonight is; 'Luck on the Rocks' with a twist and Celebration playing on the old jukebox!
Betty you'll send me a post card. If I'm going on a cruise it's going to be someplace warm. Hell all my in-laws live in Alaska and I dang sure don't want to give them any more shots at me than they've had lately
Clara, thanks for the article referencing Joe Scarborough's comments, however, I disagree with him as far as stating that the Stand Your Ground law doesn't come into play here as to how one affects the other. Over at Think Progress, there is an article about other shootings/deaths of young men possibly being re-opened because of this law. People are demanding changes in our legal system all across the country.
And I do think the NRA is playing a huge role in these laws. We need changes. Jeb Bush should never have signed that law. Never. The NRA is now selling hoodies with pockets where you can hide your gun.
Clara yeh but what are you going to do about the In-Laws. I tell you those folks just can't find it in their heart to think of me with any kind of fondnest............Betty how about Australia hear it's real nice this time of year
I've look at three political discussions so far today. All three's comments were led off by the redheaded feisty. At least she is being consistent with the ignorance that she spews. I wonder if she is on someones payroll to make these post. If not, she is someone to be pitied !
Knowing the Illinois winning ticket was from Redbud, that counts out one moron living in Roselle. Imagine the heavy set of balls a woman must have to brag that she was going to win the lottery... Faced with 170 million to one odds it takes a fool to buy a ticket. We know who one fool is for certain. Probably spent a lot of money on lottery tickets, making one fool take the next step into the idiot realm.
So here we have a moron woman with heavy balls that is an idiot to boot, making the prediction that Obama is going to win in November. I swear it doesn't get any better than this.
Jody, neither can I...have you seen recent pictures of him? He's not looking very happy...I wonder if the empty cardboard boxes arrrived at his office yet.
When Scott Walker was elected, unemployment was at 7.9%, taxes were out of control, and Wisconsin faced a 3 billion deficit. Here are some of the many accomplishments Governor Walker, Lieutenant Governor Kleefisch, and the Republican legislature have accomplished.
Reforms:
-Passed a state budget on time, without tax increases, that leaves Wisconsin in the black for the first time in over a decade:
-Turned a $3 billion deficit into a $300 million surplus
-Instituted the first permanent property tax cap in our state’s history
-Cut bonding (state borrowing) by nearly 20 percent
-Cut more than 1,000 government jobs, including 735 long-term vacancies
-Enacted sweeping business tax reforms that will save Wisconsin’s job creators over $130 million a year when fully implemented.
-Protected our votes by requiring a picture I.D at the polls
-Repealed in-state tuition for Illegal Immigrants
-Expanded school choice
-Paid back the $200 million from Gov Doyle's unconstitutional raid of the Patients Compensation Fund
-Passed the Castle Doctrine that expands protections for homeowners
-Passed Concealed Carry
Results:
-Unemployment is down to 6.9% from 7.9% a year ago
-Wisconsin has added 40,000 jobs since Walker took office
-Wisconsin showed job growth more than twice the national rate
-Wisconsin property taxes are down an average of 1% this year, after an average annual increase of 5.5% for the past 5 years
-Nationwide, in 2010, Wisconsin was ranked 41st among states for doing business. This year, the state is ranked 24th. The fastest increase in the country.
Governor Walked has kept his promises, improved the state's economy and reduced unemployment by 13% and the Libidiots want to recall him and go back to the "old "ways. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, it's the Democrat Party Way.
Smith is spewing false talking points from Walker's save-me-from-recall website.
Fact is WI lost more jobs than any other state in the country; Walker's budget is short of being balanced and he is trying to steal fed funds designated for WI taxpayers whose mortgages are in trouble; taxes are going up for WI as school districts struggle with the drastic cuts Walker made to education; etc., etc.
Walker's special legislative session on jobs got WI concealed carry, abstinence to be taught in schools over contraception, judges required to assume innocence on the part of homeowners shooting someone in their home, expanded school voucher legislation added to taxpayer burden to subsidize GOP religious schools, etc, etc, etc.
TGIF. Don't time just get on down the road when you're having fun?
This is probably the biggest weekend second only to Super Bowl weekend for bars and other gatherings of friends and neighbors to talk trash and bend a few elbows and just generally have a good time between friends and folks of all stripes. The Dew Drop inn is no exception. So we have put on some part time Barkeeps to take care of the overflow and the Bull Riding Bouncer has brought in his brother the Bareback Bronc Rider to keep the peace. So grab your socks and cut her lose Mother Goose a good time will be had for all.
I reckon it appropriate that Kentucky and Louisville are playing Saturday night with this news.
Earl Scruggs, bluegrass pioneer, dies at 88
It may be impossible to overstate the importance of bluegrass legend Earl Scruggs to American music. A pioneering banjo player who helped create modern country music, his sound is instantly recognizable and as intrinsically wrapped in the tapestry of the genre as Johnny Cash's baritone or Hank Williams' heartbreak.
Scruggs died Wednesday morning at age 88 of natural causes. The legacy he helped build with bandleader Bill Monroe, guitarist Lester Flatt and the rest of the Blue Grass Boys was evident all around Nashville, where he died in an area hospital. His string-bending, mind-blowing way of picking helped transform a regional sound into a national passion.
The Greatest Banjo Picker the world has ever or is ever likely to see. Joined together with Louise walking into that Great Beyond. Rest in peace folks.
As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don't quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you'll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith x Now until one of us gets up the courage to go up in the Treehouse and see what Drive-by and JAS1 are up to I hope we can prevail upon our sometimes substitute guest D. J. JoAnne of Pa. fame to hit D-16 " Foggy Mountain Breakdown" on the Juke Box. Follow that up with C-7 "Wreck of the Old 97" While we're in a Bluegrass state of mind why don't we play "Rocky Top" for my Lady Pat Summitt who is after all the winningest Coach in NCAA history bar none.
Hey, IR- I gotta admit, there's nothing sweeter than good ol' bluegrass (done right, of course), and none better than cooked up by Lester and Earl if you ask me. And as long as I been AWOL so damned much lately, I'd say JoAnn is as good a fill-in DJ as anyone out there. She can sure pick 'em, eh?
It'd take quite a bit to get me down out of this here treehouse, though, when I'm up here with an ol' heiffer that can suck a golf ball through a 50ft section of garden hose. Hope y'all understand.
Nicely said, IR. Earl Scruggs was a great one, and definitely one of a kind. The DDI Juke Box will rock tonight with Blue Grass music, "done right, of course".
Thanks to our excellent First Read hosts for keeping us busy with plenty to talk about. Have a great weekend everyone!
Yeh I kind of figgered it was something like that. Don't throw you're back out or cause yourself some other form of bodily harm and send up a flag when you get done and we'll send in a Cleanup crew to pick up the shattered pieces of a once promising life. Although I heard it was one of those Keno Dealers that could suck the chrome off a bumper hitch.
One "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" coming right up - hope you don't mind if Steve Martin, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart and a few other friends sit in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icMTVV5Lwaw
Drive-by, y'all be careful up there - I don't want this as a permanent gig!
Finest kind my Lady. I knew we could cout on you. With all the controversy we've had with gas and oil lately how about a rendition of "The Ballad of Jed Clampett"
Totally agree on the collapse button. Though I kind of unfairly criticized ideologyspoilstheview today and if I could would have collapsed myself. Oh well.

Sadly, in my state, we do not have Mega Millions, but we do have lovely weather making it enjoyable to be outdoors. We do not have good police departments along with corrupt and incompetent politicians, it is a paradise for liars, vigilantes and bigots. So my dear Feisty, if you win, a nice long weekend without TV, phones of all kinds and bad news of any kind, would be an enjoyable respite.
Have a great weekend friends.....keep the flag flying.
Sadly GBM that Rogue's Gallery is not limited to Florida. I can find plenty of them up here in Va. Lest we forget I want to say one thing."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke). We ain't going to lay down and do nothing.
Hi GBM...while I can understand frustration at the handling of the shooting in Sanford, the actions of a few do NOT reflect our whole state. There are many, many great police officers in the state that lay their lives on the line to protect us every day. I am happy and proud to call many of them my friends as well.
(Edit: Dang...this was supposed to be a reply to GBM...lousy FR gremlins at it again?) :-)
Well Frank that's nice for you, unfortunately, it only takes one or two in any and every police department, and sadly they all have a rotten one or two which in my view are too many. And their actions do reflect on the whole state, we have been the butt of many jokes, from late night comedians to snarky remarks here and other blogs on our angry and rude politicians, lurid trials and the financial failures. Unfortunately, our beautiful state has been abused and used by the greedy and soulless of all stripes.
I concur with IR Va. on the passing of Earl Scruggs. Mr. Scruggs forged the guitar technique upon the banjo and opened a new realm of sonic possibilities. Hopefully, the folk music community will carry on his tradition of craftsmanship and innovation (looking at you, Steve Martin).
Domenico and Mark, Mark and Domenico, nicely done lads. Why don't you take the weekend off? Remember, you are in transmission distance to Vladimir from someone's house in Alaska.
The best to everyone else this weekend and all the days ahead.
Another awesome week @ FR!

We'll be happy to help you celebrate with a fine vacation! Where to go, where to go.
I recommend a BOOZE CRUISE to Alaska, LOL
and color me completely SHOCKED,...but I find myself agreeing with Joe Scarborough on this one:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/30/joe-scarborough-trayvon-martin-conservative-websites_n_1392019.html
This case is about justice and how the Sanford Police have completely predisposed an outcome and botched any attempt at an investigation.
Justice will never be achieved; but hopefully the laws will be reviewed and some minimum standards of investigations implemented!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Oh, and don't quote me on this - because I am not normally a fan; but ROCK CHALK!
I don't think we should take a Mediterranean cruise, Feisty---that didn't work out too well for Newt & Calista.
Since the RWNJs think we are all Communists, maybe we should join Pat on her trip to Russia this summer.
Looking forward to the Final Four at the DDI. Thanks to Sen. McConnell I'm now rooting against any teams from Kentucky.
[I recommend a BOOZE CRUISE to Alaska...]
Just make sure you can see Russia...you betcha...
*wink*
Betty you'll send me a post card. If I'm going on a cruise it's going to be someplace warm. Hell all my in-laws live in Alaska and I dang sure don't want to give them any more shots at me than they've had lately

How about the Orient?

YEAH HOO! Vacations and celebrations! I'm there! Get up and dance!
TGIF! Love Fridays around here but I have to run out for a while.
In the meantime, put on Sail Away by Sister Hazel, and cruise Into the Mystic (Van Morrison)!
Be back later when you all dock. I'll stick my Toes (Zac Brown Band ) in the sand and have a cold one with you!
Cheers all! Rock on!
Clara yeh but what are you going to do about the In-Laws. I tell you those folks just can't find it in their heart to think of me with any kind of fondnest............Betty how about Australia hear it's real nice this time of year

Feisty - I'm thinking you should just buy a house in Hawaii and we can just visit whenever we want, okay????? LOVE Hawaii!!!!
Thanks for the photos of the two reporters (?????) next to the article headline.
Is the one fellow going bonkers due to the potential SCOTUS rebuke of the constitutionality of the ObamaCare law?
Hey MSNBC,
Next week, how about more information about the internet tax Biden wants to put on every internet user?
I've look at three political discussions so far today. All three's comments were led off by the redheaded feisty. At least she is being consistent with the ignorance that she spews. I wonder if she is on someones payroll to make these post. If not, she is someone to be pitied !

I'm really bummed that I have to go back to work on Monday.
You should consider a vacation on the Gulf Coast. They have already had their primaries so most politicians will ignore them for another 4 years.
Seems Scottie boy has the troubles:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/03/30/recall-vote-scheduled-in-wisconsin-republican-ad-war-continues/?hpt=hp_t3
Maybe Mittens can perform another flip flop and find a new boogyman:
http://money.cnn.com/2012/03/30/news/economy/unemployment-states/index.htm?iid=Lead&hpt=hp_t3
Somehow, can't find any sympathy for Scottie.

The voters of WI say otherwise...
Care to explain why Governor Goofball is now facing a serious recall threat? lmao
A million people of WI already have a serious case of buyers remorse....

Good to see everyone at the DDI holding their mega tickets, having a drink, listening to good tunes and the jokes of Drive by..
Thanks to the hosts of FR and can I put in a plug to change the collapse button? It was really being used excessively this week.
But the weekend is here, baskteball to watch, buds on the trees and people to see...
Cheers to everyone!
Northstar,
Totally agree on the collapse button. Though I kind of unfairly criticized ideologyspoilstheview today and if I could would have collapsed myself. Oh well.

A protester at either an Obama, Romney, or other presidential speech can be arrested- for the felonious conduct of protesting.
What the heck ever happened to the First Amendment?
Obama has visited it like he visited all 57 States and didn't like it.
Nothing is wrong with theb first amendment. It just isn`t as broad as some think it is.
