More 2012: Running against Washington (again)

The Democratic Governors Association today announced it raised approximately $8 million in the first three months of 2012 -- over $2 million more than in the first quarter during the comparable 2008 cycle.

NORTH DAKOTA: Heidi Heitkamp (D), running for the U.S. Senate, is out with her first ad. It’s now the second anti-Washington ad from Democrats. Montana Sen. Jon Tester came out with his last week.

Washington is a nice place to visit. Government is not the problem. The problem is politicians and extremist partisanship and agendas. It is high time to remove the cancer, not kill the patient. Right wing Republicans are malignant and parasitic. That is why Congress is at its most unproductive, dysfunctional, and disrespected level in history. We outlasted foreign fascism and communism, but now face home grown anti-socialism and unethical capitalism internally. Scum has risen to the top where cream used to be in Congress.

I agree. We need a left and a right. We need groups with different views to balance each other. But what we see today is a party that is on the war path against the Obama Administration and they do not care who they take down with them.

It's not about voting for what you think is the best for your country. It's voting against ANYTHING that will make Obama look good.

It started when Reagan made Bush Sr. turn his back on Planned Parenthood, but it really tanked when Dubya was sworn-in without merit and the popular vote behind him -- Starting with Rovian "strategery" to become Governor of Texas, which we are still seeing and will continue to see like never before thanks to Citizen's United. The influence of money, and the lack of civility and extreme polarization that comes with that, which in turn allows the wrong people to take power, which takes the nation in the wrong direction -- We lost not only domestically (economically and otherwise), but we also lost respect around the world.

We are only regaining some respect, some recovery, some oversight, some sanity under the Obama administration (forget about civility, the far-right went off the cliff). We The People would have to be crazy to give the keys to the White House to the Party of Dubya--heck Romney isn't as qualified as Dubya to put things in perspective. It might normally be the Teapublican time to win, but the Party is in chaos--they need to wait until they get their sh!t together.

Obama/Biden - 2012!

Running against washington is how the Tea Party Republicans got elected.

Now they have become Washington (House of Reps) and democrats are, in turn, running against them.

Turn about is fair play, after all.

In the United States the income of the middle class has stagnated or declined in real terms while the super rich incomes have skyrocketed. Part of this was from the low tax rates on capital gains (Romney managed to declare his income as a manager as being like capital gains and paid 14 percent - saving himself about 10 million in taxes over several years).

Huge salaries and bonuses by heads of corporation and commissions for financial tricksters devising new securities (mortgage backed securities etc) allowed them to cheat the public and even cheat their customers (e.g. Goldman Sachs - who just had a senior manager resign in disgust at the deceit and trickery of its own clients). Many corporations bought tax advantages through contributions (bribes) to Congress - e.g. General Electric that paid very low tax rates in recent years due to purchased tax concessions.

There is nothing holy about the extremely high payments to executives - business publications such as Business Week and the Economist point out that the huge sums paid to executives, even when they lose money are inappropriate. A few entrepreneurs - STeve Jobs etc - may deserve what they earned. Most did not. Corporation boards should have to formally approve compensation of chief executives above $10 million and compensation of others above $5 million.

Make no mistake, the Terrifying Errant Activist(TEA) party are alive and thriving in local and state politics. The Tea Party has strongholds like Virginia, Colorado, Louisiana, South Carolina, Florida and Texas and want to lull the population to sleep while they maneuver their people into power. They are very active locally and control monies, local infrastructure and power. Everyone in America should get involved at the local level should take control locally and hold your politicians to account for everyone. No one likes being told what to do, when it comes to Health Care, yet the TEA-GOP-Republican's tell a woman she has to have an Ultrasound/Sonogram if she is considering an abortion. This is not a political issue, but a personal issue between the woman, her husband, if applicable, and the doctor only! No one else need get involved! Friday, March 23, marks the two-year anniversary of President Barack Obama signing the Affordable Care Act into law. Since its enactment, the ACA has made important improvements to our health system: 54 million American families have additional benefits, including greater access to preventive health care services; 2.5 million young adults up to age 26 are able to stay on their parents’ health insurance plans; nearly 18 million children with pre-existing conditions are protected from insurance coverage denials; 3.6 million seniors received 50 percent discounts on their drugs in 2011 as an initial step in closing the “donut hole”; and nearly 33 million seniors accessed preventive services now available without cost-sharing through Medicare. In addition, states and communities across the country are using more than $4 billion granted in fiscal years 2010-2012 to improve the public health infrastructure, expand community health centers and school-based health centers, support and expand the public health workforce and test innovative approaches to reducing costs and improving health care quality.
